aloha - Welcome and congrats!

MrsHill - I love that crib.

jenjen - Hope your appointment goes well today!

fsb2005 & stars - Great belly shots.

jen - Great u/s pics.

la_bride - Those daycare waiting lists have me worried that we should be looking now too.

Elenna - lol. I wish my BBs would grow more too. :D

Me
I feel a little better this morning but I know it'll only get worse as the day goes on.

Princess - Sorry that m/s is still hanging on...I hope it goes away soon!

fsb and stars - What great belly shots!

MrsSki - Sounds like you got a lot accomplished this weekend. I wish I had some of that motivation in me.

aloha - Welcome!

Elenna - too funny that your belly rubbing gave you away! :)

boilermaker - I think my body temp has gone up as well..I'm constantly turning our thermo down at home because I'm so hot.

MrsHill - congrats on getting such a great deal on the crib!

E'sprincess - Love the u/s picture!

la bride 2004 - Keeping my fingers crossed that they will have an opening when you need to put little one in their care.

babae07 - I hear you about m/s getting worse as the day goes on.

circumsion - DS is circumsized and so will DC#2 if it is a boy.

I bought some meals from those easy prep food places that are popping up all over....I'm really hoping they make my life easier. A homemade meal that I don't have to do the grocery shopping for or the prep work for sounds good to me. I can handle the actually cooking/baking. Hopefully the meals are good! If they are good, I am definitely going to stock up closer to February so I won't have to worry about what to cook. Our family was good in providing meals for us for a few days, but after that, we brought home fast food because I could never find time to cook anything. This would make life so much easier.

I had my dr.'s appt today. Everything turned out good and the dr. seemed very nice and pleasant. I never felt rushed which is must with me at any dr.'s office. His nurse seemed a little out there and spacey, but she isn't delivering me so, I could care less. I have an ultrasound on August 8 to date the pregnancy and I asked about the big ultrasound and he does do them:D At my last one they said insurance wouldn't cover it which is obviously BS because I have yet to find one person who hasn't at least had the option to get one around 18wks. I lucked out and the NP glanced at my sheet and thought it said 9weeks when I was really 10 weeks and then said my uterus felt like I was 10 weeks instead of nine. Obviously I didn't say anything and I got an ultrasound at 15 weeks and we were able to find out the gender. I also have another appointment about a month from now but I need to reschedule it so I'll post when I get that rescheduled.

Dpangel33, I totally understand what you mean about buying non-returnable baby clothes. I swear my body has completely changed in the last week. I hate to hedge how it might look in a few weeks and hate wasting money.

Kindermom and Aloha, welcome! Wonder if you guys will be the last two!

Welcome back, LABride! I am so happy to hear from you and glad that you’ve been taking care of yourself. ((( ))) A year for daycare? I’m jealous that you have a plan, at least! I have no idea how to go about looking into daycare options. It breaks my heart, so I’ve just been ignoring it for the time being.

Ladybug, Babae07 and PrincessCJ, sorry that m/s is worsening. Hope you all feel better soon!

Isobel, hope you feel better soon, too! I had to take antibiotics, too, but what can you do? Your health has a direct correlation to your babies’ health, so you need to focus on getting better.

Mrs Hill, I love your crib! What a find ! I need to fiish my downstairs and then I can't wait to start to plan the nursery!

Fsb, What a cute baby belly (what little there is of it!) If I can remember I will try and take one/post it tonight. Where are you in NYC? I work on 18th, but I live in Westchester County. I’ve been having a devil of a time figuring out where to deliver/ whether to switch OBs.

Stars, Hope your synthroid kicks in quick! That must be exhausting with your 2 year old and the heat and everything. I can’t imagine.

MrsSki, I get bouts of energy that wane quickly, too. Sometimes it leaves me completely depleted. I feel incredibly guilty because I feel so lazy, even though I know guilt is unproductive and pointless. Blech.

Elenna, I feel like my belly pretty much shot out in a day, and I am only 11 weeks! I don’t now if it’s ‘abdominal issues’ or baby or a combination. Well, seeing as I have no control over it, no point putting too much thought into it.

E’s princess, the u/s pictures are soooo cute! Glad your appointments went well!

Jenjen, hope those meals work out! I wish we had something like that around me. I hate the takeout/delivery they have around where I moved.

Emotions/crying/etc.: I’ve felt great up until last night. I cried for (seemingly) no reason at all. I just felt really sad. And it seems like sometimes the stupidest things seem to overwhelm me. We were going to be late for a BBQ this weekend and I was really upset. Normally I’d just try to be on time, but not go crazy if I got stuck in traffic or something.

I am literally exhausted all the time. I'm sure part of it is the heat, but the other part is plain fatigue. I fall asleep on the train home every day. I feel like I need to take a week off work to get stuff done because our weekends have been running around in circles (I am one of seven siblings, my H is one of five --- between family and friends we are tapped out! We genuinely enjoy everyone's company, but our house needs TLC!). Once our kitchen remodel is done, I'm hoping things will look better, too.

I think I've gained 4 pounds or so. It happened overnight. I think it added to last night's crying jag, too. I know, a healthy baby is much more important than my vanity, but I was hoping to avoid weight gain until the second trimester. *Sigh* More ridiculousness from me. As you can see, it's been a rough 24 hours.

Thanks for the many welcomes.

Circumcision: If we have a son, we do not plan to circumsize him.

Genetic testing: We decided to opt out due to the many false positives and not have any particular concerns.

Babymoon: We're still thinking about what we'd like to do. We probably won't take a major trip, but several weekend getaways.

Telling people: We told our mom's & siblings at 10w and more friends and family this past weekend. It feels nice to have it out in the open.

Emotions: I haven't noticed that I'm any more emotional than normal although sometimes the whole thing seems a bit overwhelming.

I've been feeling pretty good lately. I've been finding I'm exhausted in the evenings and can fall asleep early. The other day I was reading and fell asleep on the couch at 7:30.

Hope MS goes away soon for those of you suffering.

Your Baby
In the first half of the third month, all your baby's internal parts are present, even if they are minute and immature. Some of the intestines form outside your baby's body, within the umbilical cord, because its abdomen is too small to hold them all.
The kidneys are starting to produce urine, which your baby excretes into the surrounding amniotic fluid. Bones and muscles are starting to grow to support tiny organs. The ribs and backbone are soft and pliable.

Swellings on the side of the neck show where your baby's ears will be, and the insides of the ears are forming. On the head are the start of lips on a mouth that can already open and close, and a bit of a nose. Eyelids, which will fuse together and stay closed for a few months, are growing over developing eyes.

The reproductive organs are among the last to form. In the middle of the month, testes have formed in boys and ovaries in girls, but the external sex organs still look similar in both sexes.

By the second half of the month, your baby's umbilical cord is well formed. It contains two arteries, which carry waste away from its blood to yours, and one vein, which brings nourishment to it from you. Your blood never actually mixes with your baby's. Instead, a membrane in the placenta allows substances in the blood, but not blood itself, to pass through.

Your baby's back starts to straighten, and its elbows and knees can bend. The tail will disappear completely by the end of the month. The head still makes up about half of your baby's body.

By the end of the third month, the baby is about 2 inches long (measuring from the top of the head to the bottom of the buttocks) and weighs a little less than an ounce.

Wow, we have over 1000 posts already. We're a talkative bunch.:D

E'sprincess: Thanks for posting that.

kanga: I'm glad you had a good appointment.

wasabi:4 lbs isn't that much to gain. Also, at my 12 week appt I was sure they'd tell my I'd gained 5-10 lbs by how I felt and looked, but I hadn't gained any weight at all.

jenjen: Those easy prep food places sound nice. Wish we had them here, too.

I came very, very close to throwing up today. It was during my AutoCad class. I started to feel a bit hungry so I nibbled on some carrot sticks. I guess that wasn't what my body wanted because suddenly I felt like I was going to throw up. I made it to the bathroom only to hug the toilet for a while with nothing happening. I really hate that feeling (and all that excess saliva...yuck!) I really hope it doesn't happen again. I hope that was the last of the nausea / m/s.

I had my first doctor appointment yesterday. I am happy to report that I'm 6 pounds lighter at this stage than I was when pregnant with DS. I am going to a new doctor since my other one no longer delivers babies. She is really young, has a little baby who is just a month older than DS and I think I'm really going to like her. She found the heartbeat right away with the doppler and it was beating away at 160BPM. Love, love that sound. They took 5 vials of blood. Ugh! I asked if I was going to have an u/s and the office manager said that the insurance companies aren't wanting to pay for u/s anymore. I told her I had one the last time to date the pregnancy and my insurance paid for it and that was just a year ago. She said she would call my insurance to check. She was making it sound like they never do ANY u/s anymore. I mean seriously, how can you not do at least one so you know the position of the placenta and check to see if there are multiples, etc. I'm going to talk with my doctor at my next appointment about that. Anyway, as I was leaving I realized none of them told me what they figured to be my due date. Thank goodness I was charting, so I have a good idea when my due date is. Also, I was a little ticked that my doctor told me I need to stop weaning my DS. I just smiled and shook my head, but I'll wean when the two of us are ready.

Anyway, my next doctor's appointment is September 1.

Eleena - I totally feel you on the MS. I thought mine was gone and all of a sudden this week it's been so bad.. I have actually gotten sick each morning. It seems if I can sleep in past 8-9am I'm ok... but if not, watch out... I thought I would be done with the part of 1st tri, I guess not.. I hope you are feeling better soon.

JenJen - That's something I haven't heard of.. NO US.. come on now.. I have had 4 to date. This last one was awesome, totally got to see the "blob" turn to a baby.... I would definately check into that.

jenjen: The manager probably just meant they don't do extra ultrasounds because the insurance doesn't want to pay for it? I hope that's what she meant.

E'sprincess: Sorry m/s still has you, too.

The first trimester just isn't letting me go without a fight. I had problems brushing my teeth this morning. I haven't had that problem in weeks. 2nd trimester, take me away!

DH is having a lot of fun telling his work and his friends. It is feeling more real to him now that we're telling more people.

Jenjen-I can't believe they would say no U/S. The benefits of an U/S are well documented medically. My U/S bill was over $600 (we have insurance, but they send me a statement) which I thought was a little crazy since I was only in there for like 5 minutes.

E'sprincess- I can't believe you've had 4 u/s so far. I've only seen my doctor 1X. But, my next appt is tomorrow and I really hope she has a doppler at the office so we can hear the hb.

Elenna- & E's- Sorry your m/s is back. There must be something in the air b/c I have been gagging/dry heaving like crazy too. Fingers crossed next week will be better.

My venting session for the day: I don't know if this has been on your local news, but in Dallas there has been a lot on the news about women breastfeeding in public. A woman was bf her son at a public pool and she was asked, by the manager, to go to the bathroom to finish b/c several of the mothers were complaining. Then a parenting magazine(can't think of the name) had a mother bf her child on the cover and people requested it be taken off of the shelves. I'm a very modest person and have extremely large BB so I will probably not be bf in public much, but I do think it's my decision if I want to. I just have to say I think it's pretty sad that pamela anderson's big ol' tittys can be flaunted all over the magazine shelves wearing nothing but a piece of string the size of dental floss and no one says anything, but a mom nourishing her child on the cover of a magazine is too inappropriate for the grocery store shelves. How does this makes sense?
Is this being talked about on anyone else's news? Any mom-to-be or mom thoughts on the subject?

u/s -- my last ob only did a 20week u/s - didnt feel the need for any others -- this time i had one at 7 weeks to date the pg since my cycles run anywhere from 30-45 days.. i wont have another one until 20 weeks and thats fine by me! we dont believe in unnecessary u/s's

babymoon we took one with the first pg.. not sure we're going this time around.. we had some big unexpected expenses pop up.

telling people -- we told everyone at 8 weeks after i saw the hb on the u/s

circumcision -- if its a boy he will be circumcised.

Princesscj81 - Yep I have had 4, the first one they couldn't see anything, second one, it was too small, third was finally growing and then the 4th one was last Friday at the hospital for that testing.

About BF in public. I'm kinda in limbo on this one.. Yes I think it's totally natural and everything but I also think there is a time and place for that. You can do it tackfully without anyone noticing.. But I was in Ikea and right there in front of me was a lady BF while walking around... Well if that was me I would have used something/anything to cover up.. I just think she was doing it out in the open... Eric was so funny the other day, I got a mag and the baby is BF on the cover.. He's like  what's that... LOL what do you think it is.. LOL MEN sometimes...

Thanks everyone on your comments on u/s. I also am one for only medically necessary ones, that is why I was so surprised when the office manager made it sound like that don't even do one. I mean seriously, an insurance company would pay for at least one to check for potential problems...low lying placenta, breech baby, etc. I definitely going to talk to my doctor about it at my next appointment. I really hope I just misunderstood her staff.

BF in public - I personally don't have a problem with it and have done it in at IHOP, at a football game with a teenage boy sitting next to me, etc. I think for most women, you can do it without anyone knowing what you are doing and can be discreet.

Elenna

BF in public: I have no problem with women BF in public. The baby's head covers up more boob than most bikini tops. I will say that if I'm lucky enough to be able to BF I will do it in public, but I will cover myself up a bit in order not to offend people around me.

jenahdawn

princesscj, I've already had three....

BF in public, I recently went into a rant in LJ somewhere. Basically: It's no one's damned business but the mother, child and maybe her health care provider. It's rude to stare, point it out, or otherwise. Would YOU want to eat in a bathroom?

But, I also think that you (general) should use a towel, blanket, etc. Not just for the rude people, but also I've seen many people try dealing with BFing a kid who is getting distracted and have said it can hurt.

PrincessCJ81
08-02-2006, 09:59 AM
I definatley agree using a towel or blanket is a good idea!

jenahdawn- you crack me up with your comment about eating in the bathroom. :D

I don't have another U/S until 20 weeks :(

I am still having a lot of cramping on my left side so I'm going to talk to my Dr. about it tomorrow. It's menstrual type cramping, but my first U/S showed the baby was in the right spot so I don't know what it could be. I previously had several ovarian cysts on my left ovary and I'm wondering if they are back? I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Hey moms-

Sorry some of you are having some m/s setbacks. Monday was rough in that department, but Coke seems to be the trick that works right now. Feel better soon!!!

Last night I got stuck on my back while sleeping. I had round ligament pain so bad, I couldn't tense any muscles up to move. And it's all on my right side. Just like with DD. I tried everything and just couldn't roll onto my side. DH is gone until next weekend, so I couldn't even wake him up to physically roll me (which he did quite often during previous pg). So this morning, my right side is a bit tender. I was so not looking forward to this stage of the pregnancy. UGH!

U/S - I don't get one until 20 weeks. And I'm OK with that. As long as they listen for the hb at each appt between next week and the end of the pg, I'm good.

BFing in public - I'm all about it. Kid's gotta eat and nursing bb's need relief. BFing in a bathroom is not so fun. Can't get comfy, hot has hades usually and kinda smelly. Granted, there's being discreet and there's being flagrant. We saw a woman at the childrens petting zoo bfing on a bench. She was VERY discreet and didn't use a blanket or anything that drew attention to the fact she was nursing. Granted, she was an itty bitty thing and her babe was a chunker so she was covered. My DH said he noticed her and thought it was cool that she was doing it so openly. He's cool like that. He just gets a bit squirmy about it when the boob is being brought out and the babe latching on. DD never got distracted while NIP. She's all about the food (her check-up at 5 weeks showed that as she had doubled her weight  and she was exclusively BF). I was lucky and never had any nipple issues, soreness, bleeding, etc.

Hi all!

E's princess and Elenna, so sorry about the m/s! I hope this is its (m/s, that is) final throes before it relinquishes its grasp. Feel better!

Jenjen, I agree about the u/s. Definitely ask your doctor as it doesn't sound 100% right. I've already had 2 due to my two earlier m/c's, but I think at least two during pregnancy are normal.

Nursing in public: I truly don't care. My squeamishness is just that, my squeamishness. I don't think I'd be able to do it without a cover, but that's because I'm a bit on the modest side. With wars, conflicts and whatnot going on, it seems like such a silly thing to get upset about.

Guess what? I gout completely outed at work! This woman whom I'm not even close with saw me in the hall, stopped dead in her tracks and asked, "OMG... Are you expecting?" really loudly. I know she just blurted it out and wasn't thinking and she felt terrible about it afterwards, but I whispered, "Yes, I just haven't told anyone here yet..." So I told my boss, who seemed genuinely happy for me. (He was also quite supportive after my latest m/c, so I think he was happy.) I guess the weight I gained went straight to my belly! Oddly enough, I can still comfortably fit in my clothing.

Hope everyone is having a good day! :)

Maybe it wasn't your waistline that gave you away, but your pregnancy glow! A lot of women know the glow when they see it.

I've been guilty of covering my stomach and rubbing it a lot, which has given it away to a few people at my office!

PrincessCJ81 - OMG..you too... I'll be in a store and just start rubbing it.. LOL It feels so good though. Also at night... everynight mind you I have Eric rub my back at least 5 minutes... puts me right to sleep...

Wasabi_green_peas - Well I'm sorry the lady outed youbut I'm glad your boss is happy for you. Good luck with everything.

Re: NIP - There was a great big thread here that got talking about the magazine cover just a couple of days ago called Pressure To Breastfeed (http://www.constantchatter.com/showthread.php?t=22796). I feel like as a soon-to-(hopefully)-be breastfeeding mom, I should be all up in arms about this issue, but I'm just not. I have no problem with telling people to STFU and MYOB, but I hope I don't have to. I hope they just do it on their own. I also live in a fairly liberal area of the country and would be surprised if anyone did make comments, but who knows. I thought it was interesting that the two people quoted in the article were both from Texas. Oh -- and one from Montana, another staunchly Red state. I don't know if that was intentional, or antedcotal.

Wasabi - Your being outed story made me smile. I'm sure the woman felt horrible, but wow - how exciting!

I have the worst insurance in the world, and they only cover one ultrasound. Even if others are medically necessary. They would rather I die, I think, or have my baby die so they don't have to pay for delivery. But don't get me started on them- I will start ranting like a madwoman. :)

I'm sorry to hear some of you are still feeling so badly. I just feel really fat.

Well, I am back from my work trip and out of the first trimester officially! Yippee! It hasn't made much of a difference, but I just feel more pregnant.

It took me forever to catch up after being away for 5 days, so no shout-outs. But I do want to welcome the newbies!

I promise to write more when I can stay on top of this busy thread one day at a time!

E'sprincess and PrincessCJ: Rubbing my belly gave me away to one of my friends. Since she pointed out I was doing it (unconsciously) I've really been noticing that I rub or put my hand on my belly a lot.

Shimmerstar: Eeks, I think that isn't right of your insurance to refuse to cover more than one ultrasound even if additional ones were medically necessary. My RE put the reason for my second ultrasound as a "pregnancy complication" for insurance reasons (which it was in a way, they were confirming the second sac wasn't another baby). My insurance covered it.

Wasabi: I would have strangled any co-worker who did that to me. I'm glad she felt horrible about it afterwards. Did you notice if people actually overheard her?

cross-posted with Bombera: Welcome back!

Elenna - I'm there with you on feeling worse. Hope you feel better soon.

jenjen - Hope everything works out with the u/s.

shimmerstar - Sorry you have such crappy insurance. :(

MrsSki - I tried Coke before to help with my tummy but it just made me burp with my dry heaves. Not a good feeling.

wasabi - Sorry you were outed. Your story did give me a good laugh though. I'm always afraid that'll happen to me.

bombera - Welcome back!

NIP - I really don't care either. I'm the same as wasabi. I'm pretty modest too so I'll probably cover up as much as I can.

M/S is hittin' me earlier in the day now. For the first time I had to throw up at work today. I'm just thankful no one else was in the restroom. I wouldn't want anyone thinking I was bulemic.

I finally broke down and told one person yesterday. It's only because she spilled her beans first. She's two weeks behind me and we're both so relieved to have someone to talk to about being pregnant at work. We both work in the same section made up of 6 people. Boy, our boss is going to be shocked to have 2 people out at the same time. We decided to break the news together. She was already afraid to tell our boss because she's only been working here for a few months and certainly didn't plan on having a baby within her first year here. I told her I was going to tell him soon but I didn't want her to be more afraid to tell him because I ended up talking to him first. We thought if we dropped this bomb on him all at once, he'd at least have more time to prepare for both our absences. He has no idea what's coming.:D

BF in public: Before I was pregnant. I have to admit, I tought it was weird. But now, after being pregnant, I understand that its natural and as a mother you have to feed your child. I think using a blanket or towel is a great idea. I plan on doing the same.

shimmerstar: Sorry about your insurance.

MrsSki: I still have m/s every now and then during the day. I'll try coke.

bombera 77: Welcome back!

PrincessCJ81: Hope you feel better!

Jen: Cute u/s pics! :)

jenjen0713: I've only had 1 u/s and another coming up and I wish I had more.

wasabi: That woman must feel really bad. That's awful of her to out you like that.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've been having a hard time sleeping on my left side for some reason and end up sleeping on my back. I know I shouldn't be doing this but, its the most comfortable position.
Also, seems like my BBs are not as sore as they were before and my stomach isn't as firm as it used to be. I'm hoping that everything is okay with the baby. I have some cramping but, it feels more like stretching. No blood though. Sometimes I wish I could see if the little baby is doing okay in there.:(
