Isobel....Welcome...How exciting that you have two!!! Im sure your freaked out though...I know I definitely would be!!! Good luck with everything!!
What exactly is Round Ligament Pain?? Ive never even heard of it...Guess Ill have to look into it. Today Ive been feeling little crampy type things every now and then and I had a little spotting just a couple of times after going to the bathroom. Nothing major...but it kinda freaked me out a little. I didnt call the MD but thought I would see if it lasted into tomorrow first..What do you all think?? We did DTD last night and I exercised quite a bit yesterday too...
Anyways I hope everyone has a great weekend!! Enjoy!!

Welcome Isobel! Congratulations on twins! I am sure you waver between being excited and freaked out, I know I would be. I made the Dr. look more than once just to be sure that we were only having one, my DH was disappointed, but I was just glad to see one baby there!
So glad you are here!

Aug2002, It's similar to cramps. They can happen because of different reasons. Mine happen usually a bit after I move or bend funny. They are normal. (Or so everyone tells me)

;) Isobel – OMG, Double Congrats and Welcome to our family…
Elenna – Yes I just saw my typo… I can’t believe I didn’t catch that before.. LOL.. Sorry everyone.
What is round ligament pain?
It's generally a brief, sharp, stabbing pain or a longer-lasting dull ache that women commonly feel in the lower abdomen or groin, starting in the second trimester of pregnancy. You may feel it as a short jabbing sensation if you suddenly change position, such as when you're getting up from a bed or chair or when you cough, roll over in bed, or get out of the bathtub. Or you may feel it as a dull ache after a particularly active day, say when you've been walking a lot or doing some other physical activity.
The round ligaments support your uterus in your pelvis. As your uterus grows during pregnancy, the ligaments stretch and thicken to accommodate and support it. These changes can occasionally cause you pain on one or both sides of your abdomen. You may feel the pain starting from deep inside your groin, moving upward and outward on either side to the top of your pelvis (where your hips are). The pain is internal, but if you were to trace it on your skin, it would follow the bikini line on a very high-cut bathing suit.
Well then that’s that sharp pain I have been feeling… So glad to finally know what it is. So Yes I get those from time to time.
Weekend Recap:
This weekend was really nice. We hung out with some friends on Friday… Well I was all prepared to tell them I’m pregnant, when Eric BF wife, tells me she’s pregnant.. OMG… are you serious… WOW.. so am I.. So now eric’s friend since childhood are having babies together. Well not together but you know what I mean. She’s 2 weeks behind me..so so excited. So this weekend we’re going to tell the rest of the friends group that we’re both pregnant. Out of the whole group, I’m so glad I get to share this with her. I’m going to be sending her a link to this site, so she can start a journal to. I’m so happy.
Saturday, Eric and I went to my mom’s cabin and stayed the night, we to the fireworks, (whoopee a whole 10 minutes of fireworks) but what do ya expect in the country. LOL Sat out at the camp fire, and had totally baby brain….Ok picture this we’re sitting there, burning this guys dock that he replaced and it didn’t last to long, so we’re like what else can we burn, well not even thinking of it, I’m like the s” house, well low and behold, guess who’s at the fire with us… the S’ s family… OMG… what a moment… I couldn’t believe it. I’m such an ass sometimes. LOL Anyways….
Sunday – Went to Eric’s aunt’s cabin for another 4th of July celebration… not to exciting there, just hung out.
Eric is off for 2 weeks now, so my house will finally get the deep cleaning it deserves. LoL
That’s about all…
Have a Happy and Safe 4th.

Isobel: Welcome and congratulations on TWINS!!
E'sprincess: That's nice that you have someone IRL that is pregnant, too.
I had my second ultrasound this morning. The other sac has disappeared. So, we just having one baby. The baby measured almost a week behind (8w5d +/-3d), but the RE didn't seem concerned. She said I could have ovulated later. Also, when I look at the picture the crosshairs from the measurements aren't at the very top of the baby's head and end of the baby's tail. So, I don't think it is very accurate. This ultrasound tech only took quick measurements, whereas the previous tech took multiple measurements to make sure.And...
The baby was wiggling around like crazy. It looked like it was doing a little dance. It really freaked DH out. He grabbed his tummy and said "Doesn't that feel weird?" Uh, nope, don't feel a thing.:)
The heartrate was up to 183bpm (from 134 two weeks ago), which has me a bit concerned, but the tech and RE weren't concerned. When I commented on it, they just asked me if I'd had caffiene or sugar this morning (Which I hadn't, I had left over pizza:o ). But, I was very, very nervous this morning. I was even more nervous about this ultrasound than the first one. So that might have had something to do with it.
Also, we got to hear the heartbeat!!:) The tech flipped a switch and suddenly we could hear it! Oh, my, it was totally amazing.

Elenna - Love, love the u/s picture!! You can actually see the little arms! :) During the really early u/s, I would think the baby's h/b has just started and won't be at full force, so to speak. The 183 sounds right in line with how far along you are. I think at 10weeks, DS's h/b was in the 170s. Gradually at each appointment it grew slower and slower, until the last month it was in the 130s-140s.
Nausea is in full force here!! Makes me feel good, but I hate that sick to your stomach feeling. Eating makes it feel better, but then about an hour later, the heartburn and the belching start in. (I can rival any frat boy in burping contest at this point.) Then, the empty stomach feeling comes again and the cycle starts again. I'm starting to wonder if this little one might be a girl since I didn't have hardly any nausea with DS.

Elenna How exciting that you got to see the baby move and hear the heartbeat. I am also in the hands of the RE and although all the appts. are crazy, it sure is nice to get all these ultrasounds.
jenjen0713 I am the complete opposite of you, had m/s really bad with my DS and so far none with this pregnancy. Hang in there hon, it will pass. I wonder when us that are on #2 will start showing, I've been told it's sooner with the second one.
Ultrasound 7/5, hope to hear the heartbeat

I am so curious about showing since I have been wearing maternity pants already. I don't want to, but that bloating is getting me.
Morning sickness is almost up to full strength here. I don't want it though. As long as I eat something almost constantly I am doing sorta ok though. I have only thrown up once though.
I have the crankies bad though. I don't think my body had gotten back to normal after ds.

Uck, I'm so used to getting nauseaous and NOT wanting anything that my brain is still trying to adjust to "eat somethng and you WON'T be nauseaous!"
Little frustrated. Saw OB on Thursday. He told me to call today to set up my US for an amniocinticity (or something like that, and it is NOT amniocintesis, which they don't seem to want to listen to) and first trimester screen. BUT, it's Monday. They are open...but they STILL don't have my paperwork.
I just want to set up the appt to see the little Blip again! (My husband's nickname)
Oh, and I've been wearing stretchy shorts almost all the time because they are just more comfortable.

Hmmmm.....So I thought I was having an appetite change. Last night, I wanted pizza, and as soon as my husband handed me a piece, I turned greenish at the smell. Ended up with noodle soup instead.
But TODAY, I had the cold pizza and have been craving Rice Krispie Treats. And I haven't had any sweet cravings until now.
But, not nauseous!

Welcome Isobel and kathywathy!
I haven't had a chance to read through all the weekend posts. I'll try to do that later. I'm surprisingly getting some work done today, though the office is practically empty.
Anyway, hoping everyone had a great weekend. I was still nauseous all weekend but still managed to go to a bbq last night. Thank goodness I had no food aversions because I would have missed some great food. Being at the party actually took my mind off the nausea. I wish I could say the same about work.
Well off to lunch. I'll drop by later!

Welcome kathywathy and Isobel!!
On the round ligament pain stuff -- I thought that was something people felt in the second trimester. I think it's normal to feel some strange crampy, pulling sensations now (everyone always says it's the "uterus stretching"), but I'm not sure that's the same thing as round ligament pain. Obviously I don't know for sure though...I have definitely felt crampy pains myself.
Still no real MS for me. Every once in a while I don't feel fantastic or I feel so-hungry-I'm-almost-sick, but nothing strong enough to say for sure that I've felt like throwing up.
Can't wait for my u/s on Thursday -- I want some proof that there really is a little bean in there!
Ok, new QOTD (sorry if this is a repeat from very early, but we have lots of new people in here now): When are you telling people you're pregnant? If I can limit my question a little, I don't mean when are you telling your mom/best-friend-in-the-world-who-you-tell-everything, but when are you telling the bulk of the world? I guess I'm asking when are you comfortable enough that it's safe to tell people?
I think my doc said that once you see the heartbeat around 7-8 wks, there is only a 5% chance of miscarriage at that point. So she thought it was probably safe to tell people around that point. She said that some people wait until the nuchal translucency (11-13 weeks) to be sure that there aren't other problems too...
Anyway, I'd been thinking that we'd wait until we saw the heartbeat, but now I'm not as sure. Would love to hear what others are doing...

Back from Eastern WA. I had my first vomit experience in years this weekend. It was impressive. At 11:30 Sat. night and then again at 5:30 Sunday morning. It hasn't happened since. Because it hasn't happened again, I am wondering if it was actual M/S or a touch of the flu. Who knows. I didn't have any other flu symptoms, so I will assume for now it is the "M&M Flu." (according to one of the books, the baby is the size of an M&M)
Fatigue has hit in full force. I almost fell asleep at the breakfast table yesterday morning. I laid around most of the weekend. I took a 2-hour nap each afternoon, and laid down for an hour each morning. Then I laid around some more in the pool. I felt like a horrible guest -- puking, sleeping, not being entertaining at all. Poor MIL was very understanding however.
Welcome Isobel and kathywathy!
Elenna - Fantastic ultrasound! :D The baby is really taking shape!
When are you telling people you're pregnant?
We're telling immediate family as we see them, which basically means we've told my parents, B's mom, and his siblings. My mom is spending the weekend with my aunt, pregnant cousin and her baby, and another cousin and her baby this weekend up at my aunt's cabin. She said, "It has been All Babies All The Time, and I want you to know that I have been Very good and it has been Very hard."
I've heard that once you hear the HB you're pretty safe (I didn't know the 5% thing though), so we are telling B's dad and my grandma at that point. I have a brother I'll have to make an appointment with (he's a chef and works odd hours so I never see him). After that, all immediate family will have been told and I will probably turn my mom loose at that point.
A book I am reading called Great Expectations (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0760741328/sr=8-7/qid=1152034195/ref=pd_bbs_7/002-7475066-4611242?ie=UTF8) has what I think is a fairly informative section on Miscarriage. I'm actually kind of enjoying this book; if you haven't bought a book yet, I recommend it.

According to my doctor, you can have round ligament pain earlier if you are either expecting more than one, or are further along than you thought. And it can be before the second trimester.
Again, if you are feeling something, don't let anyone tell you you can or can't be. No one but you is experiencing your pregnancy.

I completely agree with this, my point was just that it doesn't make sense to slap a label on it immediately. I forget who first brought up round ligament pain, but then it seems once the description was posted, a lot of people said that they had felt something that sounded like that too.
I am sure everyone who said that felt some kind of cramps or pain. But, that doesn't mean that it was round ligament pain. It's possible that 1/2 of our group is either having twins or a lot further along than they think, but unlikely.
So I'm just saying, I think it's normal to feel cramps, but I don't know that logical next step for most women is to call it round ligament pain, given that for the majority of women, that doesn't start until the 2nd trimester.
Sorry if my post sounded like I was telling people what they felt -- I didn't mean that, I just thought I'd point out that just because you feel some cramps or pain, it didn't mean it was round ligament pain.

FSB~ it was me who first brought up round ligament pain and I brought it up specifically in reference to the fact that I am having twins. But before the ultrasound showed two, in fact before I saw the doctor in person, she told me that the back pain I was having was probably due to the ligaments stretching. It really is different for everyone. :)
We told our families right away, as well as close friends. We had planned to wait to tell people in town until the end of the third trimester. But when we found out we were having twins, we were so freaked that we have told anyone and everyone.

I haven't chimed in on this "round ligament" thing yet, but I think I will since it seems to be such a hot topic! :D
I too thought it was far to early to have anything like that, but a few days ago I coughed and felt a paint that could only be described word-for-word like the information that E'sprincess posted:
You may feel the pain starting from deep inside your groin, moving upward and outward on either side to the top of your pelvis (where your hips are). The pain is internal, but if you were to trace it on your skin, it would follow the bikini line on a very high-cut bathing suit.
It was like something thin was being pulled (like stretching a piece of wool into thread when spinning) and that pulling hurt. Not badly, but sharply. It only happened once, but it was very distinct. I don't know if that was the round ligament pain or not, but it was definitely just like the description. :)
PS. We won't think about that meaning there might be twins in there! eep!
PPS. And I know I am not further along than my posted progress because I chart, and I am actually a few days less far along. But I am going by LMP until my OB says otherwise.

I'm the one who posted the QOTD about round ligament pain (RLP). And like someone else said, there are many women who do experience this earlier than the 1st trimester. For me personally, since I did IVF, I know for a fact that (1) I'm not having twins and (2) I'm not further along that I think I am. I can definitly tell the difference between pain/cramps and something else completely. And the fact that my doctor said it was RLP, is enough for me!
QOTD: We haven't decided on a specific time frame for telling people. Of course we've told close family and friends. Extended family, we're telling slowly but surely. I think we'll both feel more comfortable around the 10-12 week mark.

QOTD - Since DH started blabbing the news to his family at 4-5 wks it was only fair that I told mine. I had intended on waiting until 12 wks to tell everyone else, but DH announced it to our group of friends during a drunken happy hour :rolleyes: And I thought I was going to have problems holding it in :p

Oops, sorry didn't mean to start controversy -- sorry ladies.
Of course if anyone's doctor is telling them they are having round ligament pain, that's totally what it is. I really only meant to point out that for the bulk of us who do not have any reason to think we will be getting round ligament pain early in the first trimester, cramps are probably just that -- cramps. It's normal to have them, and you do not need to freak out that you are having twins or are secretly a lot further along.
For anyone else who is having round ligament pain, no offense meant!

Congratulations to the new moms that joined our thread in the last few days! Happy and healthy 9 months! Our group is growing each day!
Telling Others - We are waiting until after my first doctor appointment and after the first u/s when we know for certain everything is ok. I should be about 10-11 weeks at that time. I'll probably tell work around that time as well.
Round Ligament Pain - I really never got hung up on naming my pains...I just figure it is things stretching down there making room for my little Valentine! :p
DS had his 9 month WBV and his doctor agreed to take on DC#2 when he/she arrives in February. That was a huge relief to know I don't have to worry about searching for a new doctor.

QOTD We told every one about 5 weeks, maybe a few days earlier. I figured everyone would notice the M/S starting up. I wish I could untell my IL's though.
Colorado had rain two days in a row. I found my big odor aversion too, spent gunpowder in fireworks.
It is all averages that everything tells you anyway. Some people are going to have somethings happen earlier. I have heard that it can start earlier with a second pregnancy too.
I have felt what feels like it a few times, but I keep trying to ignore it since I am terrified at the thought of twins. There used to be at least one set of twins in every generation in my moms family and there were none in my generation.

isolbel : welcome and a hearty congratulations! Twins? Oh, my! I can understand both the fear and excitement.
Elenna: sounds like you had a great appointment to hear the baby’s HB! I don’t think you should think too much about the size or the heartbeat. If they’re not concerned, I’d take that to mean all is a-ok.
kathywathy: welcome!
Mrs. Hill: sorry about the puking. Not fun. Hope your nausea recedes soon!
---------
I had some more nausea this weekend. Fruit and ice pops seem to quell the metallic taste and ‘empty stomach’ feeling.
I am totally bloated. I haven’t really gained weight (+/- 2 pounds which is generally how I fluctuate), but my clothes definitely do not fit as they had been. Everything’s pulling across the abdomen area. Some shirts are a tad snug.
My weekend was otherwise good.
As for telling? I’ve told a bunch of close friends and some of my family. It’s a tad complicated. My youngest brother (24) just announced his new girlfriend/fiancé is pregnant with his second child. (He has a 6½ year old daughter with his long-term HS girlfriend.) Not 100% sure, but I am guessing they are due right around me. I am disgusted with the entire situation for several reasons. He barely takes care of my niece and is completely dependent on everyone to help raise her. His fiancé chain smokes (I witnessed it firsthand this weekend) and has had a pain medication addiction (not sure if that’s been rectified). He treats having children so cavalierly and with little respect, I am horrified. I don’t know if I want to be compared to that BS right now. So I am laying low. My parents and my closest sister know. My second miscarriage affected me so deeply and I was so grateful to those who were supportive of my loss; they are the ones I told.

And to someone who's not going to try and fix my problem (husband) without just making me more frustrated.
So, my appt was last Thursday. They gave me a card to set up my first official US, told me to call later Friday or early Monday. They would get the paperwork there.
I call late Friday. No paperwork.
I call early Monday. No paperwork.
I call mid Monday, as told by them. No paperwork. Call the dr's office, wait two hours for a call back, "We just faxed it. Call them now." (Mind you, three minutes before they are supposed to close for the holiday) I call back. No paperwork. (Althought I thought it may have been an "Oh, we have it, but I really want to get home..." And am told call back today, Weds.)
Call at 8:15 today. No paperwork. Called dr's office immediately after that and, nearly two hours later, still waiting for a call back.
Why can't they just set the stupid thing up? I don't care about the time or date (as long as it is in the next 3-3 1/2 weeks, as it's also for a first trimester screening), whenever it is, I will be there!
Patience has never been my strong suit, but being TOLD that I should be able to have everything set up by Monday at the latest and there should be no problems and then not being able to do anything about it (two daays after that even) is so frustrating!!!:mad:

I am too far behind to catch up on everything.
A big welcome and congrats to both Isobel and Kathywathy! I think it's cute we have a twin momma in our midst :)
As for telling, we haven't told many people. We told my family this weekend but haven't told ILs yet. I've told 3 other good friends but that is it. I think we will feel more comfortable telling people after the dr appt next week.
As for RLP, I have no idea. I get cramps and I feel twinges, but nothing major or anything I would worry about. I have noticed that I got a little pooch but it is pretty solid underneath my skin, so I figure something must be happening.
I also got hit this weekend with some pretty nasty pg symptoms. My sense of smell is highly sensitive it seems and it doesn't take much to set it off. My poor sister put on perfume and it about made me puke. She felt bad, then I felt bad for making her feel bad. And the nausea. All day long. No puking, but constant ickyness. The only thing that seems to not upset my stomach is mashed potatoes. Silly huh? I had a large order of them for dinner last night, and I'm guessing I'll have them again tonight.
E's Princess, I think you are the one who also bought the shirts from cafepress. I agree that I think they run VERY small. If any of you on here are typically a small and would like a shirt, I'll send you one. I'm a medium, ordered a large and it is tiny on me.

Welcome and congratulations kathywathy and PrincessCJ.
QOTD: We'll probably tell the general public after the first trimester. We're telling my family this weekend.
I went to the Nashville fireworks display/show last night. The concussive sounds from them were really loud. I could feel them inside my body. After a while I started to get worried that they might not be good for the baby. The show lasted 23 minutes. I hardly slept last night because I was worried I might have harmed the baby. I called my RE this morning and they are pretty sure the loud concussive sounds wouldn't have harmed the baby. But I still have this small worry. I think I'm going to worry about this until my OB appt in two weeks.:rolleyes:
I'm going out of town tomorrow for the rest of the week and all next week. I won't have internet access where I'm going. So, I hope everyone has a nice rest of the week and a good one next week.

:D Welcome Kathywathy… Glad to have ya.
Mrs. Hill – Sorry you have a rough weekend.. I know how that can be. Actually my weekends are usually ok, it’s every other day that’s a bite.
Jenahdawn.. Again, if you are feeling something, don't let anyone tell you you can or can't be. No one but you is experiencing your pregnancy……. I TOTALLY agree.. I felt “something” within days of conceiving… and everyone, I mean everyone was telling me I was wrong, well guess what THEY were wrong not me… Ok now that I read more posts, this was about RLP, however I think this goes for anything. Anything at all...:D
Jenjen0713.. Round Ligament Pain - I really never got hung up on naming my pains...I just figure it is things stretching down there making room for my little Valentine! .. I agree… I just posted the definition because I had no idea what it was… I just have some pain… LOL.. Little Valentine.. I like that..
Welcome PrincessCj81
Boilermaker …Yep I’m it.. LOL… I’m usually a Large and bought an ex. Large and it’s still way too small… But I need to find somewhere else to order something like that. I also love Old Navy. I went shopping online on Monday and they had a bunch of summer shirts on sale… Woo hoo, plus an extra $10 off over $50 so I had to spend the $50. LOL…

(I'm not glad for your illness, just glad to know I'm not alone) I am so ready for my US on Tuesday....Was anyone else super nervous about their first US? I keep trying to calm myself b/c I know worrying doesn;t help anything, but it is really nerve racking for me~

Can I just say that I find it pretty humorous that so many women on here are hoping NOT to have more than one, when, secretly, I think they'd be thrilled? :D
Okay you caught me...but my husband's head would explode! And I would rather have a sane husband than two babies. :D

I honestly don't think I could handle twins or afford them right now. Daycare here is like $1000 a month per child.
But, my mom is a twin, my uncles are twins, my grandpaw is a twin and I have 3 sets of twin cousins. I expect twins...I just want them to be my second pregnancy, not my first.

Welcome PrincessCJ81!
I agree with you on the twins -- while it would be a completely amazing experience, it seems a little daunting to me financially and timewise. But parts of having twins would be so fun too...
------------------
Well, I guess 7wks was the marker for me for MS. I threw up last night at 1am and again this morning. Ugh. I am secretly hoping it was the food I ate last night and not really MS since I have been feeling pretty good so far, but I have a pretty strong feeling that's not it. It's really hard to work when I feel this crappy...

I for one can honestly say that I would be completely and utterly freaked out if I were pg with twins. I'm dreading being pg as it is (I know, that's prob horrible for me to say, but I really am dreading everything I know is coming over the next several months).

Oh I think that having twins would be SOO scary. :) And I really have no reason to think I will have twins. My mother carried twin boys that were born prematurely and died before I was born, so I guess you could say I have a family history, but it is not strong. I have just always thought, from the time I was very young, that I would have twins. Plus my husband is dead set on only having one child, so it would probably be the only way I could have more than one! :)

FINALLY....
So, no call from the dr's office (but my doc and the other residents are moving in a few weeks, so I won't have to deal with those particular nurses and scheduling folks!!!), but on a hunch, I called the hospital. Yep, they FINALLY had my paperwork!!!
So: US: August 13

I know it is probably silly, but has anyone else checked out the Chinese Birth Chart. It was right the first time I was pregnant. It says I'm going to have a gril this time.

Welcome KathyWathy and Princess CJ! We are so pleased to have you join the group.
I guess I am one of the few that has been pretty blessed so far to be feeling really well. Sure, I have had moments here and there where I thought I might lose it, like this morning, but mostly I have felt completely fine. That in itself worries me, but the Dr. tells me that I should just count my blessings and believe me, I am!
I completely understand how you feel Princess CJ, and I think most of the women would agree. The first OB appt. is nerve-wracking. For me I just wanted a professional to tell me I was pregnant. I only took one HP test and then waited 4 weeks to see the Dr. Since I was feeling so well I had doubts at times, but the HUGE sore bb's and the tiredness reassured me! I was sitting in the Dr's office that day with DH and he was talking to me about how everything was going to be okay and that helped. But I really was getting myself worked up. As soon as we saw our baby on the screen, a huge rush of relief swept over me and I don't worry as much now. Of course, I still worry- but not about really being pregnant, I worry about everything else!
We have told quite a few people because I too have a dh that had too much to drink and told everyone we know at 5 w! Our families know because there is no way we could keep that from them. I talk to my mom all the time and I had to tell her and DH is an only child and they have been waiting for years for this (although we have only been married for 1.5 years!).
I haven't told work yet, but they are going to start getting suspicious of the Dr's appts. I will tell them in two weeks when I am 12 weeks.
We met with the Perinatologist about my medication dilemma and he was undecided at first and finally I asked him what he would do if it were his wife, and he said he would have her take it- especially since I am past most of the critical formation time. I still have to get off of it before I deliver since I am adamant about breastfeeding, but it will give me more than a trimester to keep my Crohn's at bay. I pray that it works! I think I am going to put in a call to the La Leche League and see if they have any information for me- a friend's mom said they are a great resource.
I will be out of town all weekend visiting my new nephew, so have a great weekend everyone and again, welcome new moms!

Mine said girl, though I am feeling boy. (Jen, I think it's because we have the same EDD)
But, it also says conception was while my husband was in Hawaii, so I'm thinking it is lower than 65.5% accurate....

(Sorry, but our scanner's not hooked up)
Yeah, what you see there, faintly, is "a" and "b"
We've known for over a week. (When I went in for them to see if it was my appendix or an ectopic pregnancy.) We got a VERY happy suprise.
So, please change my gender prediction: two boys
Due to a few issues, they are most likely identical (Sharing a placenta, may be sharing a sac). I will most likely go on bedrest. And I will most likely be a January mommy, but my official EDD is still Feb. 22. So I am staying in this thread!

Twins
They don't run in the family but since I conceived on clomid, there's that itty bitty chance. We've already resigned ourselves to the possibility.
The Chinese Birth Chart says I'm having a boy. My DH would love that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As for me, I'm still chugging along waiting for my first appointment while browsing at everyone's beautiful u/s. I'm still nauseous with that empty stomach feeling. I've only vomitted 3 times in the past week and a half. Is that even considered m/s?
And I'm dying here at work because someone has the nerve to microwave cheese popcorn. Cheese happens to be one of my food aversions.
Jenahdawn: Wow, congratulations on twins!! Wonderful ultrasound.
Babae: I consider any nausea m/s, whether you've vomitted or not.
Chinese birth chart: It says boy, but another chinese chart, I looked at a month ago (can't remember what site), said girl.
twins: DH and I were really hoping the other sac would grow and we'd have twins.
jenahdawn ~ Yay!!! I am so happy for you and your DH. And happy for me too, I didn't want to be the only one having twins. We can freak out together. :D Mine won't be identical though. What did your doctor say to do differently? Mine was pretty blase about it but after reading about all the bedrest in the Twinmamas thread I am getting nervous about the difficulty of carrying these two around for 38 weeks.
Feeling pretty good still, besides the fatigue. Which is not helped by getting up a million times a night to head to the bathroom. My energy level is definitely way down. I am hoping that I will avoid MS. I have some weird food aversions and some nausea but haven't actually gotten sick. *crossing fingers*
07-06-2006, 06:11 AM
Oh, I haven't gotten "sick" either, just nauseous.
He said there was nothing different to do yet, whatever's goign to happen will happen.
Right now, my goal is to stay pregnant until at least past my husband's birthday (1/9). Because of the potential issues (they are rare, but could happen, the biggest being growth difference. Since they are sharing a placenta, one could get more blood, the other could get more nutrients), I could go on bedrest sooner, I could deliver 34 weeks or sooner....etc etc. But, there's nothing I can do now.
Yeah, and peeing ALL the time. (which several of us have going on, I hear it's quite popular)
And have you noticed stuff doesn't fit right? I mean, already? I'm living in two pair of maternity shorts. (None with a full pannel) Only one pair of my jeans (stretchy) fit.
He did tell me, though, that people will be able to tell in about two months, that "something is going on in there". Most women with their first, he said, start showing at 5-6 months. We will show sooner than that.
I'm already worried about winter....will my coat fit? (no) And will I be able to find clothes that fit? (made for short people carrying more than one!)
So fun!!! Mine said girl, but I already have a feeling it is!
Quick questions for everyone, my DH doesn't want to find out the sex..he wants it to be a suprise. I want to find out so I can decorate, but I don't want to spoil his suprise. Is anyone else having this dilema? Any reccomendations? In so many ways I want to know, but it would be exciting not to know as well! What do you girls think?
dpangel33
07-06-2006, 07:56 AM
PrincessCJ81 - My DH and I were the same way. Before I got pg he was very adament about not knowing, even though he knows I hate surprises. But now that I am pg it's a different story, I just told him I was going to find out and if he didn't want to know I wouldn't tell him. Of course he said that wouldn't be fair so we'll find out for the first child and that's it. That I can handle, or so I think :D
jenahdawn
07-06-2006, 07:59 AM
You can still decorate without knowing! And then tell him, with a second, you get to find out.
Hi All,
Jenahdawn, congratulations! I can't believe you kept that a secret for as long as you did!
My Chinese gender predictor says girl. I've always wanted a girl, but I will be thrilled either way with a healthy and happy baby.
I think we're definitely the odd men out, but my H and I both want to be surprised. People think we're nuts! I am trying to figure out a way to decorate the baby's room in colors different than yellow/green. Hmmm. We'll see.
Labride, I'm still so sorry about your loss. It definitely hurts, and I just wish I had some words that would be of comfort. ((( ))) Feel free to express yourself here any time.
Hope you all are doing well! :) Jenn
We are finding out. DH wouldn't be able to stand the suspense.
wasabi- what if you decorate with a neutral theme, like winnie the pooh, noah's ark, aquarime(fish) or outdoors with bunnies or something?
I have thought about this again and again and I think not knowing could be so fun! Truthfully, I have such a strong feeling its a girl...I almost don't need to be told. I would love a boy so much, but from the moment I found out I was pregnant I have just had this feeling that she's a she!
This sounds terrible so please no one be offended, but I keep going to the misacarriage threads and reading b/c I want signs or signals or anything to tell me if she's strong enough to make it. DH says I have got to stop doing this to myself but, I am a worrier. I'm the kind of person who needs rhyme and reason and its hard for me to understand miscarriage b/c there is no reason. I have got to stop thinking about what could happen and just relax, any suggestions on how the heck I can stop myself from running to the bathroom to check for blood every couple of hours?
I'm kind of with you. I'm not looking at threads, and I'm subcribing to the "What ever is going to happen is going to happen" theory.
But I am terrified that I will go to my US (or my appt next week, if he has the machine in there) and only see one.
Just popping in from the January thread to comment on this:
I was just like that for the first 6-8 weeks... I was so obsessed and worried and every little twinge made me run to the bathroom to check for blood. I drove myself crazy to the point where I started having nightmares about miscarrying. And then I knew that I just had to stop this, because it wasn't good for me, for the baby or for my relationship with DH. Try to relax and think positively. I know that it's easier said then done, but it works!
Hi everyone,
Sorry I have been mia lately. I am so tired that it just seems like it takes way too much energy to post and read so I have just been reading along.
Congrats on the two sets of twins. My DH and I are secretly hoping for twins. I don't do pregnancy very well and we would love 3 or 4 kids but I am not so sure my body can handle more pregnancy's. I love being pregnant though so go figure. There was only one on the first us so not this time around for us.
About the checking for blood worried about m/c. Being one who has previously had a m/c and started to m/c with my first let me tell you that you will know if you start bleeding. It is not at all something that you can miss especially at this point. Just relax and enjoy every moment of the pregnancy because we truely don't know what is going to happen and we have to make the most of ever moment we have these babies in our tummies :)
The chinese gender chart said that this one was a girl as well (really we can't all be having girls can we?). I would love a girl but I kind of want a boy next so that my DS and his bro would be so close in age but I would be overjoyed with a girl as well
Not too much else going on just trying to keep my food down and stay awake to entertain my DS
Have a great day everyone
la_bride ~ I'm sorry for your loss. It's still a loss and you have every right to feel the way you do. It will take time to get over it.
jenah ~ Congratulations on the twins!!
Thanks ladies ~ for all the Happy Birthday wishes for my little princess.
Isobel ~ Welcome and congratulations on the twins as well!
kathywathy ~ Welcome to the group as well.
QOTD - When are you telling people you're pregnant? ~ We won't be telling anyone else until I'm in the second trimester. All of our immediate family already knows about the pregnancy but we just feel no need to tell the rest of our friends until then. We didn't let a bunch of people know with DD until we were in the second trimester either. DH has told his supervisor at work so he can take off for appointments and such.
Round liagment pain ~ I didn't have it with DD until I was in my second trimester. I did have a ton of stretching pains/cramps though but they were higher up. I could definitely tell a difference between the round liagment pain as opposed to the stretching. The round liagment would pop up when I'd move differently or too quickly. I really noticed when I would get out of DH's car. If I was in a higher chair or car I didn't notice it when I'd get out. I think I've already had a couple of episodes of it with this pregnancy already.
PrincessCJ81 ~ Welcome and congratulations to you as well.
Twins ~ While I think it would be fun to have twins the prospect of dealing with everything that goes along with that during the first couple of years makes me cringe at the very thought. We would have to get a bigger car (which we already have an SUV so that would mean a mini van or no one else would be able to ride with us because there would be no where for them to sit. The backseat would be full of carseats. The twins would have to share a room and then we would have to add on another bedroom to our house. And then there would all the expense of buying two of everything (well, in our case since we have some items it would just mean buying one more of some items but clothes would need to have two). I guess if it would have happened in our first pregnancy I wouldn't feel as freaked as I do (because we probably would have stopped or at least waited until they were at least 3 or older).
Chinese Chart ~ It says girl for me. I put in DD's information and it said boy for her. So I'm not sure that I believe it. DH was pretty sure that she was a girl and told me (and the rest of our families) from the very beginning. He keeps telling all of us that this is a little boy. We shall see if he is correct this time. Of course he kept telling us that it was twins with DD as well. (I think he did that to get my mind off being so sick.)
PrincessCJ81 ~ My DH wanted to know the gender but I didn't. So we had the u/s tech write it on a paper and put it in an envelope for him. We agreed that if at any point down the road I wanted to know, he would tell me (I always wanted him to be the one to tell me the gender just after delivery). As it turned out we came home to find our two doggies had both passed away while we were having the u/s. I was beyond devastated so DH thought that telling me the gender would cheer me up. It did and I was greatful to know I was caring a little girl, I was heartbroken at the loss of our dogs. Maybe you could have the tech write it down for you and not tell your DH. You could decorate the room, buy clothes and then surprise him when you bring home the baby from the hospital with the room.
Having been through a m/c (and a threatened one the first time) there is no way that you'll mistake or not be able to recognize it. I had bad cramps and a ton of bleeding. Just relax and enjoy (I know easier said than done sometimes) because you never know what is going to happen (I've lived by that with other things as well).
wasbi ~ We did DD's room in Winnie the Pooh. It's turned out to be her favorite character so far. She can recognize anything Pooh related in a store.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Had my u/s yesterday and we just saw one baby. We were able to hear the heartbeat (I had forgotten what a wonderful sound that was). So I feel much better about this pregnancy sticking. Even my OB said that with seeing the baby and hearing a strong heartbeat that we are pretty much in the clear. I'll have my labs repeated at my visit.
I had been preparing myself for the possibility of twins but unless one was hiding behind the other, we won't be having twins.
Big surprise that my SIL did not show up for DD's party. Seems that when it came down it to oldest niece had another birthday party to go (first we ever heard about it since all we had heard up until then was it was the day she got home from camp and they would be there if she made it home in time). Of course there were two other kids that SIL could have brought to the party since she insists that they never get to see DD enough.
We had a cookout with DH's grandparents and my parents on Monday. Of course we also found out about an hour before we ate that we were going to SIL and BIL's house to eat and watch fireworks. The eating part was news to us. Seems SIL just assumed that we would be there to eat. She sent it an email (and we never checked email). :confused: Why she didn't call is beyond us and we found out from DH's grandma. We did watch the fireworks but not with SIL. We figured we wouldn't be able to see them from their house (which was correct because there were too many trees in the way) and I didn't feel the need to be hounded by all of her family who was there as well. I also knew that we would have absolutely no where to sit but on the floor (yeah, let's let the pregnant woman sit on the floor who has had residual issues from having the epidural when I gave birth to DD and severe carpal tunnel syndrome in my wrists that will need surgery in the next couple of years. All of those issues make it very hard for me to get up from the floor but that just escapes SIL's brain).

Finding out the gender: We will definitely be finding out. I am DYING to know and can't wait a minute longer than I have to. I also want to be able to pick out gender-specific things.
----------------------
Just got back from my 7w ultrasound and everything looks good! I didn't get to keep a pic, because I guess they will only release them to your doctor. But the tech said things looked good and showed me the heart beating. So amazing to see!
After she left the room, I wrote down some of my measurements that were on the screen. :-)
The heartrate was 163.76 bpm.
She had two length measurements, and I don't know what they mean. One said GS (Hellman) 2.25 cm and put me at 6w6d. The other said CRL (Hadlock)1.4 cm and put me at 7w5d (maybe that last one is crown to rump length?). At the top of the screen it had the overall estimate, which put me at 7w2d +/- 4 days.
I think that is totally amazing given that if you go by my chart I am 7w2d exactly (and that's where my OB put me given my cycle lengths and last menstrual period).
Anyway, I'm really happy to find out there is a real, heart-beating bean in there (and only one!). I think we'll start telling people very soon!
Also, I forgot to add another OB appt - July 24. I also have an appt for the nuchal translucency on August 8.
Hope everyone's having a great day!
ETA: I looked it up -- "GS" = "gestational sac" and "CRL" is "crown to rump length."

Wow - I've got a LOT of catching up to do!
We got back from LA late Tues night, and I've been sick ever since :( Not sure if it's m/s or the flu - (TMI Alert!) Does anyone know whether diarrhea can be m/s? I'm nauseous, sick a little, but mostly ick! I have my appt tomorrow AM, so I'll ask then if nothing else. Worst part was I got SO sick at the wedding reception - black tie & everything - there I was throwing up in the bathroom. I was so bummed - but dh was good about it & took me back to the hotel...think a few more friends are suspicious now :o
I'm going to do some heavy reading, and then I'll post again. Hi to all!!!

My birthday is February 11 and so far I have not seen one single person with that as their EDD. It's funny b/c growing up I never knew anyone with my b-day either. Is anyone out their expecting on the 11th?
I know EDD are usually off a little, but its fun to see what celebrities were born on your baby's EDD.

Updated to here.
Would everyone like to go by their first names or usernames? Just wondering what everyone's feelings were.

My user name IS my first (and middle) name, so I don't apply.
I'd like to get to know everyone by their first names, though, if everyone's comfortable...We are going through this together!

I don't feel strongly either way...I'm Laura :-)
My only request would be that if we go by names, we sign our posts for a little while until we all remember all the names!
Off to my appt...I'll report back later!

I think it'll be more personalize now that we can learn everyone's names.

FSB - Glad you had a great appointment. :) It must be a big load off your mind to actually see the bean in there!
Gender - We both feel that seeing the baby at birth is one of the last real surprises you get in life, so we've decided not to find out. We've already chosen a gender-neutral theme for the nursery, and I don't want a bunch of gendered gifts at showers.
USAF - I'd rather use my username, since my username is my last name, and giving everyone my whole name seems a little too familiar. For everyone else, I'll probably still use usernames. I just don't think I'll ever remember everyone's real names, since I don't see them every time they post the same way I do their usernames. Additionally, we have multiple Jennifers. Would we have them go by Jennifer L. and Jennifer C.? :) Usernames are, by definition, unique names. Anyway, those who want to use the real names, fine by me... but I probably won't use them myself.
I have New Evidence about the sickness from last weekend. When I went over to my cousin's house yesterday to help her take care of her kids, her mom told me that everyone in their family has had some sort of bug recently, and has been throwing up for a day or two and then feeling better. That's exactly what happened to me. That makes it also the second time in a month I've gotten sick from being around them. I'm unimpressed. However, I am glad to know that it wasn't The M&M Flu! :)

Elenna - Okay I definitely have m/s then.
phillytiger - I'm not sure about diarrhea as m/s but I had it too on 2dpo and 7dpo. I thought it was weird because I never have diarrhea that often, let alone twice in one week. So I looked it up and I found that diarrhea can occur with a large increase in progesterone. Not sure if it's true though.
Gender - We never discussed it but there's no doubt that we both want to know before hand. I have very specific ideas about how I want to decorate the nursery.
Chinese Birth Chart - Am I the only one that says boy?
I had the biggest headache all day yesterday followed by NVP last night and this morning. Hope this passes for all of us quickly.

First names or usernames don't matter much to me. I answer to either :) I do have my first name in my sig though, so that makes it easier for people to see it (it's Carrie btw).
I have been feeling horrid for about a week now, with constant nausea and actually throwing up a few times yesterday. This sucks. I feel like it controls my whole life since I can't concentrate at work, can't really get any exercise in (the motion makes me ill), etc. I'm doing a little better by eating more steadily but it doesn't make it completely go away.

I took a look at that Chinese chart and had to laugh. I came out girl as well. But statistically speaking, if you are between 25 and 31 and due in Feb before the 17th, you will come out girl. I'm guessing that a lot of us fit in that catagory :) If you are 28-32 and due after the 17th, you will come out boy.

Eureka!! I have found a temporary cure for my nausea... Icebreakers Sours, A coworker gave me one yesterday and within a few minutes my nausea was gone. It doesn't last forever but it's nice to have the non-sick feeling for a little while.
E'sprincess
07-07-2006, 09:56 AM
I have heard the the Preggie Pops at Motherhood are really good for nausea... I too can't wait for the moment this goes away.. Yesterday I had a donut and either my sugar spiked and then dropped or I was just really really sick, but a few trips to the ladies room and some saltines and I'm all good again.. :p,
yes I look at the Chinese Chart too, It states a Girl..I have since I found out had a feeling I was having a girl too, so I'm totally excited... But if I have a boy, I too will be excited.. I just want Happy and Healthy...
I'm not sure about diarrhea as m/s - But I do know that the prenatal vitamins that I'm taking do cause consipation... Not that I need any help in that department, I already have issues.. :rolleyes:
Gender - Eric and I discussed this he wants to know before hand. So now I do have some ideas on how I want to decorate the nursery.
Danea - I want your body in my second life.. LOL... HA HA

Jen - Well if in my next life I am an animal then you can have my body!! But I must say that I have good genes b/c my mother looks fantastic for 43!!

At my doctors's suggestion, I have been trying to eat small meals throughout the day and not let my sugar drop. I think its helping. Before I get out of bed I have a peice a toast and then on my way to work some grapes a couple hours later some cheese and crackers.....on and on. I feel like I am eating all day, but I feel so much better!

there are several sites to get tickers:
I use baby-gaga.com : they have a development ticker (if you click on the Boy in my signature you can see it, if you click on the days left that is another type) It's cool to be able to see what the baby roughly looks like at each stage of development to
I think the front page of this thread has a list of them.

I'd like to get everyone opinion on the Mommy IDs that the September 06 mommy group is using. Would you like to use them for our group? It can include a belly shot (when you feel comfortable posting them. I.e. after getting a baby belly instead of one that looks like you just haven't done enough situps to have a flat or semi flat belly) and an ultrasound picture.
Let me know so I can let the person who has offered to make them for our group know.

Sorry I haven't been around much, but work has been really busy and then taking care of a 9 month old when I get home leaves very little time for CC.

Mommy ID's - Seems like a lot of work to me to save what could be not that many images. I notice a lot of the Sept. Mommies haven't posted pictures at all, so it's actually more images than it would have been without the badges. It seems like you'll be spending a lot of time in photoshop with everyones' weekly switches of belly shots. :)
I use a 1600x900 screen res so the pictures inside the image show up pretty small for me -- Esp. the ultrasounds. I wonder if we could make them lay out side-by-side rather than on top of each other so they could be a bit bigger.
usafwife
07-08-2006, 03:12 PM
MrsHill ~ Another CC member has offered to make them. Some people choose not to post pictures of themselves for whatever reason. This way those that want to share more than one belly picture (bare or with clothing) can. Some people don't post weekly belly shots (I didn't in the group thread last time) but rather just montly shots.
I wonder if we could make them lay out side-by-side rather than on top of each other so they could be a bit bigger.
Are you meaning the pictures side by side or the Mommy IDs side by side? I don't like having to scroll over just to read the pages (which some pictures require because of the size they are when posted). I've had to do it on other message boards (as well as here) and it gets to be a pain when I'm using my laptop.
My screen on the laptop is 1024 x 768 (I don't know what the screen resolution is of our desktop as I'm not in that room right now). The size of the pictures are okay for me.
Tickers ~ There is a list of ticker sites on the first page of the thread. We can't put the actual image in our signatures like we were able to at WC but you can put a link to it in your signature and then just click on it and be able to include that in your posts.
Quick hijack from a December 06 mom:
Congrats to everyone!
Shout-out to Jen and Isobel: I'm expecting twins too, technical EDD Dec 28. Come over to the Moms of Multiples thread if you're so inclined - I think I'm the only one currently pregnant, so it would be nice to have the company! USAF - I don't like to scroll either. I meant the two pictures inside the badge, to make them a bit bigger. But ya know, I hardly look at the front pages anyway, and i'm going to see the pictures in large form when they're posted, so I figure - what do I care if they get all cropped and resized? You asked for an opinion and I gave one, but in doing so I realized that I have no opinion whatsoever.
We were goofing around downtown yesterday and went to The Gap to check the clearance racks. This time I had my camera, and B took a couple of pictures with me wearing the Prosthetic Belly. The gal at the gap says the belly is supposed to add 6 months. We'll have to see if this is what I look like in six months:
http://static.flickr.com/71/185513015_d37a798d0d.jpg?v=0
I ended up buying the shirt (I'll need to pull it down right when I wear it in public I think!); it was $10, very stretchy and really comfortable. The shirt hanging behind me came down to the bottom of my shorts. :rolleyes: There is a seam down the front of the belly that was visible through the shirt. I said to B, "Hey my belly has a seam in it!" He said, "That's the zipper." I said, "The zipper? There's no zipper..." and I pulled up the shirt to look at the belly to see if there was a zipper on it. B said, "No, I mean - a zipper to get the baby out. Isn't that how it works??" I laughed and told him I didn't think that's how it worked.

Yesterday we went to my SIL house for dinner, she made the works. Chicken, Noodles, Corn, Salad.. everything. Awesome... so about 30 minutes later we're sitting there and I get this aweful feeling.. so I excuse my self and then I'm in the bathroom for like 15 minutes, so I tell Eric we have to go and give him "the look" so he's sitting there playing with the kids for like felt like an eternity but was only like a couple of minutes, I'm like I have to go, Shaking everything... so we get in the truck and we only live 12 houses from each other. well we get to the corner and I started getting sick (twice), we get the house before the truck can stop I bolt out... run to our bathroom and get sick 3 more times... UGH.. :( It was such a good dinner too.. I wonder what upset it so much. So Eric ran me a bath and lit some candels... ;) told me to just relax. awe... Then I over slept this morning cause I never set my alarm last night. :eek:
I went Shopping yesterday, got some clothes from Motherhood. I love that store but so expensive sometimes. I got some of those Preggie pops..those are sour... :p but i guess they seem to help.. I dunno...
we missed the Taylor Fireworks, Eric and I were up cleanning until 9 and then went for a late night walk at 10.. it was so peaceful.. lol
Eric and Ann's party went off without a hitch.. Everything was great.. we announced to everyone that we're pregnant.. so I don't think anyone doesn't know.. LOL but other then that I need a Vacation.. LOL
Planning/hosting a party sucks.

I had what I felt was a stroke of brilliance ;) while on a flight home yesterday -- I took two barf bags from the plane! I'm planning on carrying one with me whenever I can, especially to and from work. I have to ride the subway every day which can get really hot and crowded, so I would not be shocked if I felt sick during the morning commute.
The pregnancy week by week book suggests making your own barf bag using doubled up plastic grocery bags. Probably not a bad thing to carry around when your only other choice would be to throw up on the ground...

That's actually a pretty good idea! you must have a genius growing in you. My husband says I have been acting unusually logical so he thinks we must be having a boy. 1)Go to the first page of your journal.
2)Right click on the actual page of your journal and click "Properites."
3)Right click on the URL and click "Select All."
4)Right click on the selected text and click "Copy."
5)After you've copied the URL, go to User CP and click “Edit Signature.”
6)Paste the URL of your journal into the signature box and place the following brackets (everything in bold) at the beginning and end, respectively. Leave out the *s when you put your link in, though.
[*url=Your URL Goes here]….Name of your journal link goes here….[/url]
7)Whatever you want your link to say goes in between, as shown above.

Today must be a good day for Dr appt. I had my first this morning and it went well. She ordered an u/s for me, but I asked if we could do it next week since DH is out of town this week. So next Monday I'll get to see the little one.
I did think of you fsb. I was talking to my doc about the nausea and mentioned that eating every couple of hours was helping. She highly recommended Ritz peanut butter crackers, since the cracker part helps with the nausea and the peanut butter makes it stick a little better to your stomach. I guess the peanut butter avoidance is only if you have a history of peanut allergies in your family, which I don't.
My next appt is Monday, July 17 for an u/s. Next OB appt is Aug 1.
Has anyone heard from LABride? I haven't seen her post in awhile, not since the twin posting that was a little hard for her.
Kat, my DH won't be going to all of the appts. He'll go to the u/s next week, then the one in Aug to meet the dr, then prob not again til the big u/s.

I've been thinking about her too. I hope she's doing okay, and will check in when she can.
I'm glad to know all of you are having such great appointments. I hope the "good appointment vibe" can hold on through tomorrow. We go in at 8:15 tomorrow AM. They said the appointment should take 2.5 hours. I hope they do an U/S, cause I want to see it. :)
B is going with me for this one, but will probably not go again unless something interesting is supposed to happen. He is getting ready for his $34M HS to go to bid, and now they have given him 3 more Jr. Highs that are just going into construction, and he's supposed to be starting another new Jr. High. Craziness.

Yeah, yeah for all the good appointments and u/s and sending good appointment vibes to the rest of you! Can't wait to see those u/s pictures! :)
RH +/- - I already know that I'm positive, so no need for a shot for me.
Still chugging along here...I so can't wait for my first appointment in three weeks! The nausea is just awful and the excess saliva I'm producing doesn't help matters. So far, I'm still in my normal clothes, but pants are getting tighter...haven't had to resort to the rubberband trick yet.
jenjen0713
07-11-2006, 02:51 PM
phillytiger - RH is whether your blood type is positive or negative. Here's a little explanation I found.
"It is particularly important for expectant mothers to know their blood's Rh factor. Occasionally, a baby will inherit an Rh positive blood type from its father while the mother has an Rh negative blood type. The baby's life could be in great danger if the mother's Rh negative blood attacks the baby's Rh positive blood."
The shot is given to help ward off any problems.

Hi Moms-
Yesterday was a good appt. for me as well. My next OB appt is August 9th. And I won't have an u/s until 20 weeks.
I'd like to join the 'icky' club as well. I never had this much m/s with DD. And I'm super tired. And I've started having round ligament pain. OMG, no more flopping around in bed anymore. And I'm to the point where I can't sleep on my stomach :( . That's the only way I get really good sleep. I've started sleeping with a pillow between my knees or tucked under me and that's helped a bit. But not much.
I loathe anything snug around my waist anymore. I feel pukey enough as it is and I sit all day at work. I've become best friends with elastic waistbands. I went so far as to pull out some maternity pants and wash them up to wear around the house and doing errands. I did buy a few items this past week for transition and hope I can get through the most of the summer with them.
I'm RH- and had to have the Rhogam shots before and after being pregnant with DD. And I got to carry a little card around in my wallet after the first shot. Just in case. My mom totally freaked when I told her and she asked how I caught it. I told her it's random and I'm just missing a protein in my blood. She thought it was some life-threatening disease and said they never checked my sister when she was pg. I said it's part of the bloodwork they do. I also had to have a rubella booster right after DD was born. Apparently they can tell through bloodwork if your booster is void. Nothing like two shots in the butt at 5am after delivering a baby :eek: . And they said to get plenty of rest in the hospital after birth.

Updated to here.
Going to go ahead with the mommy IDs. Nat says that it won't be much work for her to do even with updating the pictures. We can have a progression of our ultrasounds and belly shots on the IDs.

Ultrasound ~ Had our u/s last week and everything is fine. One baby, saw the heart beating, saw the baby moving around so we can breath a sigh of relief. And not having twins unless the other one was hiding behind the other. Baby is meausing about 4 days ahead of calculated EDD. She did write down the new EDD but said we'd go off a due date week instead. So she said I'd deliver sometime during the first week of February.

QOTD - RH+/-? ~ I'm positive so I won't be needing the shot. DH is negative but they just said I'd need it if I was negative which I'm not.
LA Bride ~ I hope she is just busy and no one said anything to offend her.
Do you all think we should include her twin she lost on the first page with the others who miscarried in the group? Let me know what you think.

That's what I was thinking. I wonder if the spotting I kept experiencing was a possible loss of a twin but I don't think there is anyway to know now.
jen ~ Thanks. I'll send them a PM and see what they say. I know that we included the name of a stillborn twin in my other momma group.

Yet a THIRD post from me tonight:
So, we've started just mentioning the name game. I knew I had to start early, just the discussion, because I don't think we will EVER agree. We have one girl name picked out. (After two of our grandmothers)~~~Which is why I have a feeling I am having two boys~~~Because we have NEVER agreed on a boys name (even hypothetically) That is why there's a God, because he has a sense of humor. You tell people, "Two occupancy uterus" WHAM! Two, all right! You agree that you both like a certain name for a girl, and I just know, WHAM! Two boys.
*sigh*
I know, there are worse problems to have....but this will be a 6 1/2 (cuz, let's face it, January's probably going to be it) struggle.....up hill, both ways, in the snow, killing a bear with my loose leaf notebook.
(Don't mind me, I've been packing all day and got up to pee a record FIVE times last night! I NEED SLEEP!)

Wow! I think I am caught up on reading.
I am so happy to hear everyone's appointments have gone well. I am sending thoughts of strong heartbeats for everyone who goes today! I will try and post my u/s pics tomorrow.
Maybe I'm crazy, but my baby looks really large for 7wks 6days compared to some of the other pics I've seen. I'm thinking the u/s machine was on high magnification. Did the majority of you have a stomach or a vaginal u/s? That might be the difference I'm seeing.

If I upload my pics to Kodak Gallery, will I be able to post one here? Sorry - I'm just not sure what I'm supposed to do :) TIA!
Just feeling icky today, as usual, esp in the AM. Train ride in this morning was particularly bad, but I think it's b/c it's very hot & humid here. Also, I went to have a bowl of cereal this morning, and when I checked the milk, I gagged about 4 times - it was definitely sour!!! EEEEW! That did not help things!

Hi Mommies...
I'm here, just struggling thru work as usual. I have an OB appt on Friday, and I hoping they'll do another us. I guess it's just hard for me to imagine a baby inside me. But the outside of me is taking on the mommy shape already. I just want to know everythign is ok. I have had horrible sickness this week. I have gotten sick 6 times total. :o , I just want to know their ok inside. I have lost a total of 5 lbs since finding out I was prego. Best diet so far..:p ha ha
Labride... Please come back we miss you.. Hope all is ok?
I still have to post my US picture. But I would love to have a MommyId made up.

US, Each time I have had them 3 now to count, I have had to have the regular US and then the Vaginal one, to get a better look.

E'sprincess - I found your lost 5 pounds...they made their way to my butt and hips! :p I swear I'm on my way to gaining 40 pounds again this pregnancy. Luckily, I was able to lose it all really quickly after DS was born, so I'm hoping Mother Nature is kind to me again. (Oh, and I'm hope she keeps the stretch marks away again this time as well!)
I wonder when doctors make the move from vaginal to regular u/s. When I was 10 weeks along, I had a regular one. I'm really looking forward to my first one, but dread having to drink all that water beforehand!

Like Jenadawn, I've only been nauseous. Only vomitted once and that was because I had 2 coconut shrimp. I knew half way through the first one that it was going to cause me grief, so I had two. Of course, the vomiting didn't hit until about 3am and Tropical Fruit Tums started it.
I had a tuna wrap for lunch. Followed by a Coke (of which I haven't had caffeine or soda in weeks) and boy does it taste good. And Mike & Ike's. And I can honestly say, at this particular moment, I feel like a rock star :D.
Well sort of. My 2-yr old DD broke out in large red welts yesterday and we think it's because she may be allergic to cherries (but she had those Saturday afternoon). The nurse at the ped said to give her Benadryl every 6 hours. The welts went down but I could see a few when I got home last night. Then this morning she's covered in them again. My sitter said they were better than yesterday and so we gave her another dose of Benadryl. I just called and the welts are still there and still red. DD is playing, laughing and causing her normal ruckus but is spotted with large, red blotches. SO, I'm going to call the nurse again and see if we have to bring her in. I would rather do that to be safe. DD is not feverish, is eating like a garbage disposal and sleeping like a rock. Just looks like she spilled cherry Kool-Aid in spots all over her body.
Any others with toddlers experience this? Can a food allergy appear several days after ingestion? I know that when she first started solids, we waited 4 days before introducing anything new. So I suppose it could be because she had never had cherries before until Saturday.
I've not gained any weight since my annual exam the first part of the year. But of course, I've probably gained and lost due to my erratic eating habits.
Names:
Benjamin Jason - this is a for sure.
Girls - I have no idea. My sister wants me to use Niveah (ni-VAY-uh). Heaven spelled backwards. It's cute, but I'm not sure. I love Stella, but DH's grandma is Stella and she's an awful woman. I also like Mabel, but that won't fly either.

Daniel's Kitty - No rubber band yet, but let me tell ya, by the end of the day, the pants need unbutton and I look 4 months pregnant.
phillytiger - I use snapfish.com when I want to post pictures. I save them to snapfish, right click on the picture and go to "properties" and then get the web address and copy it. Then I come back here to CC and I click on the little icon that looks like a mountain (insert image) and paste in my web address I copied from snapfish.
dpangel - Yep, I had an Arby's melt too and it soooo hit the spot!!
PrincessCJ - If you look on page 1 of the Sept2006 mommas thread you can see what a mommyID looks like.
MrsSki - Hhhhmmmm, I wouldn't think a food allergy would still be present on Wednesday if she ate it on Saturday. We once gave DS some blueberry icecream and he immediately broke out in hives around his mouth and his lip and tongue swelled up. After a trip to the ER and a shot, he was fine and we gave him benedryl for a couple days after that, but after the hives went away in the ER, they didn't come back. Could she maybe have touched a plant or something (different laundry detergent?) and maybe it is irritating her skin?
Names - This one is a challenge for us. DH is a teacher, so he associates a lot of names with students he has had in the past, so they automatically get nixed. For girls, last time we were thinking Claire or Brooke....for boys, we had a heck of a time coming up with one with both liked, so we have to start from scratch again.

We have not even thought about names. Since we are not planning to find out the sex, I think we need to come up with 2 of each sex. Just in case we change our minds once we see him or her.
The only thing I know is that DH is a second. We won't have a third, but his middle name is a family name that has been passed down for 6 generations. Since he is the last of the males in his family, we will pass that middle name down as well. For girls names, I really like Annabeth but I haven't thought of a middle name...or even run it by DH yet :)
usafwife
07-12-2006, 12:33 PM
Names ~ We have a girl's name picked out and we have sort of a boy's name. We decided to write down a boy and a girl name and put them in when they buried DH's dad last May. Now that DH has thought about it he isn't sure that he likes the first and middle name for the boy. So we have come up with another tentative one. We like the girl name and will stick with it (or maybe another one as I sort of flip flop between the two). The girls names both honor 1)my aunt and great grandmother and 2)my grandmother and great grandmother. I've always leaned towards my aunt's name though. The boy name we had picked out honored both DH's grandfather and dad. The other name still honors his grandfather but uses a different first name.
Mommy IDs ~ You do not have do anything special for the IDs. The information used in them will be taken from the first page (your stats, belly shot - as you post them, and u/s pictures - as you post them). They will be listed on the first page to list the mommies. Feel free to look at the Sept 06 mommy thread if you want to see what they look like and how they list them.
Sick ~ As usual I spent some of my morning in the bathroom being sick. I really hope that it goes away soon (i.e. any day or just after the start of the second trimester which is only a couple of weeks away). I don't think I can handle it lasting well into the second trimester like it did with DD (I was past 25 wks when I started feeling better).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DD has a WBV today and I also found out that she won't be getting any shots. We know have to go to the health department for those. I didn't make her appointment for this check up until after her birthday party and my u/s in case she had a reaction to the shots. So I guess now I could have called earlier for it. Now I have to see if we need an appointment for HD or we can just walk in and wait to be seen (hopefully my mom will know).
We saw the hb today, kind of spur of the moment. I didn't really have an appt. until next Tues. but, I've been having some lower back pain, so he had me come in. symptoms: Thankfully, I'm not sick, I was lucky w/ ds #1, as well. I'm just extremely TIRED. Even more so this time around, I think from chasing a certain 13 mo. old around all day.;) Other than that, just sore bb's. Mostly in the morning and at night, they're not as sore during the day. So I can relate to that (but I'm not sure if it's related to the pregnancy or a residual effect from the epidural with DD. Appointment went great this morning. I like my OB very much. He was hip to the charting groove and put my pregnancy chart in with the other paperwork. We saw the heartbeat, and I'm measuring pretty much where I thought I would be, except that he changed my due date to 2/24/07. Next appointment is August 8.
I called my parents from the car to let them know we saw the heartbeat. When I talked to my dad, he said, "Can I start blabbing??" I said sure. When I got home, there was a forwarded email from a good friend of mine who works for my dad with a note that said, "Wow - he's really excited!" Below that was was an "I'm gonna be a GRANDPA!" email sent to everyone in his entire address book. :p I also got a Congrats email from another of his employees who I've known since I was 12 -- that was nice. :)
Daniel's kitty: Oh, I so feel your pain. This age is VERY mischevious!!! Hey, if you were close by, I'd be all about a playdate. I have a cousin whose little one is 8 weeks older than ds and we get together about 4 days a week and let them wear eachother out, it's so much easier that way!
As for the dr.'s appt.'s, today we took him w/ us and it was not bad, he was actually a perfect angel. I don't plan on taking him w/ me to all my appt.'s, only when I have nobody to watch him, and dh probably won't go to many w/ me, there's really no point once we get further into the pgcy.. As long as I keep my appt.'s scheduled on Tuesday's, I should be OK, my mom doesn't work on Tues. and Thurs., so she'll watch him. But hey, if you've gotta take em' you've just gotta do it, for the most part, the appt.'s should be pretty quick, up until the end when they're checking you, dr.'s offices should be pretty used to patients bringing little ones w/ them, esp. OB's.
Welcome Rancherswife!
Boilermaker - Thank you for checking on LA Bride. I'm glad to hear she's doing as well as she is.
Re: Names: We are narrowing down names. I refuse to stress about name choices so I decided to get organized. First I bought The Baby Name Wizard (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0767917529/102-8279432-3341733?v=glance&n=283155) book, partially for my benefit and partially to help my due-in-three-weeks friend find a name for her girl. It's a great book; I recommend it.
Then a couple of months ago I made a Baby Names Spreadsheet (http://www.constantchatter.com/showthread.php?t=20470&highlight=spreadsheet) that has been helping us. (Jenah I know you're stressing about names - you may want to check it out??) We went through it and just kept saying 'no no no' over and over and got both boys and girls' names down to 25 each. We have decided to revisit the list each month and cut a few names until we're down to a shortlist of 2-3 names of each gender by the end of the pregnancy, and we'll choose from among those three when we meet him/her. I won't post the names we're considering both cause we're still at 18 names for each gender and 'cause I want to announce more than "so anyway - the baby's here!" ;) But I love hearing all of your choices!
QOTD - RH+/-? - I have no idea what my blood type is. I hope they'd tell me if I needed a shot.
I had a QOTD to ask, but now I don't remember what it was. :/
I need Tums.
NOT an RO, but if your MIL goes, can't she just stay in the waiting room? (Tell her it's just easier?)
I know, may be easier said than done.
Updated to here.
I will try and post the mommy IDs but I know that they won't all fit in the first post (cause we can only have six images per post. So we may have to do some rearranging of the posts or just wait until our second trimester thread is ready which would be set to open within the next week to week and a half.
What would everyone like to do: wait until the second trimester thread is open or go ahead and post them on the first page here and do the rearranging of posts? Or I can post them in a few posts on the current page and everyone can see what they look like.
Mommy IDs ~ If you could please let the mods know when you need your id updated (a new ultrasound picture, new belly shot, gender announcement) then we will let MSH know and give her the link to your picture so she can add it to your id. Is that okay with everyone?
Welcome rancherswife!! Congrats. I can't believe you lurked so long. You muat have good willpower :)
MSH, thanks a bunch for doing the IDs for us. It is greatly appreciated.
As for when to use them, I'm good waiting until the next thread to put them at the beginning. But I don't see why we can't just put them here in the middle to see what they look like that. Then we can ooh and ahh over them :)
rancherswife - Welcome!
Dr. visit with DC - Since I work, luckily DS is in daycare while I go to doctor's appointment. I agree with someone else, if you have to take him the appointment should be pretty quick. Maybe get a new little toy to take to a visit and give it to him when you get into the doctor's office. I know at my doctor's office, they loooovvvee babies and when I had my post-partum checkup, I had to bring DS with him. As I was getting my checkup, the nurses were watching over him.
MrsHill - I'm sure your doctor will tell you if you need the RH shot. I'm assuming they took a couple vials of blood at your first visit? If so, you could ask at your next appointment what your blood type is.
Princess - We conceived DS about 6 weeks after we got married. (He was born 10 1/2 months after we got married.) I think our family was a little shocked, but totally happy. Who doesn't love a new baby??
phillytiger - If you go into snapfish and click on the small picture of your u/s, it should bring it up bigger. Then you can get the web address for the bigger picture instead of just the thumbnail.
MommyID - Will MSH have to update our ID each time a new pix is added or will someone in our thread do it? I only ask because I know she is due to have her baby in a few months and I'm sure she will be super busy this fall and might not have time to update our IDs, so didn't know if it was something someone in our thread could update.
I am just worried since ds has a broken pause button (he doesn't sit still). He has recently started throwing horrible temper tantrums when he isn't getting his way. I think I will be having blood pressure problems this time.
I too LOVE Arby’s and Taco Bell, I haven’t eaten Arby’s in years and in the last month I have had it 4 times… YUMMY… Ok well I always like Taco Bell.. but even more now… But I have to watch out for Spicy stuff.. bebe doesn’t like that and it comes right back up.. LOL
PrincessCJ81 (Candice) – that’s so funny, we’re both Princess’s, got married within 1 day of each other and now expecting together… I must go and check out your journal.
Baby names: Like I said I have 13 girls and 12 Boys.. But only one Boys that I REALLY Really LIKE... Aiden Jones H.... (Jones, is my grandpa's last name and the names ends with him, because his son never had children... Problably due to My mom when she was yound came down on him in that area with her knee... He's never prevented anything and hasn't had any oops... Great my mom's to blame... ) Plus I like AJ. So I think that'll be our Boy name... and Girls There just so many.. and I want the "Right" name for her...Not to popular but unique. My First Choice was Emaleigh, sounds like Emily. But It's so popular, I don't know about that now...
Welcome Rancherswife!! Congrats and welcome to our family…
MSH – Thanks for the Mommy Id’s. That’s really nice of you to do those for us.
Loves and Hugs,
...I thought he would be a little upset b/c this happened so quickly after the wedding, but he has been the most enthusiastic person so far.
My dad was the exact same way!! I was terrified to tell him b/c he was so adament about me finishing school before getting married so I figured he'd be disapointed. But he can't seem to keep his mouth shut!!!
If MSH can't update the Mommy ID's, I have photoshop at home and should be able to handle the upkeep.
A big welcome and congratulations to rancherswife!!!
Also, now that so many of us have had good u/s and seen/heard heartbeats, what are people thinking about telling people. I know a few of you have said that your dads have been telling people - and I know mine will as soon as I set him loose :) I'm basically at 10 weeks, so feel like it should be fine, and since the u/s we've started telling people slowly...I'm just still a little nervous. But then I read last night that once you're at 10 weeks and have seen a hb, your chance of mc is less than 5%. Thoughts anybody??? (Sorry if I'm being neurotic! :rolleyes: )
HA! I hadn't thought of that! Oh, mine will be right up there w/ yours!;)
Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome and congrats!!!
phillytiger: Hey, this is my second one and I'm even more neurotic this time around, I think (dh thinks so too!) I think you're good w/ telling people by 12 weeks for sure, but if you've seen the hb and had a good u/s, I'd go ahead and tell people!
mommy id's: Can someone please fill me in on what this is???? Thanks!
phillytiger - Great u/s..look at your little one in there! I was 10 weeks when I had my first u/s and that is when I started to tell people. After I hear the h/s and get the ok from my doctor that she thinks things are progressing fine, then I'll start telling (hopefully around 10-11 weeks this time around).
ooohhh, Taco Bell, another one of my favorites! I think today I'm going to go to Mr. Goodcents and get a chicken salad sandwich. Tonight we are going out to dinner as it is DH's birthday, so I hope he picks someplace good!
phillytiger- I haven't been able to keep my mouth shut! Besides work, I have told the majority of my friends and all of my family. I am keeping it from work until September/October b/c I just started in June :eek:
But, I have never been good with keeping suprises!
Hi ladies, sorry I've been MIA and haven't contributed that much to the thread thus far. I do read your posts and stay up to date as much as I can. Being preggo with #2 and chasing a toddler is EXHAUSTING and this heat & humidity isn't helping. By this time a day all I want to do is crawl into bed!
Welcome rancherswife!!!!
My DH is at work and can't take my DS to the RE and I have no family close to me :( Also I hear ya on the high blood pressure, there are days I feel like mine is boiling ... hang in there.
I hope you are all feeling great, for those with M/S hang in there because it WILL get better.
Phillytiger - I asked the doc yesterday about telling people. He said, "There certainly have been infant losses after this point, but seeing the U/S with you measuring exactly where you think you are and seeing the flash of the heartbeat -- this is a good place to be. I'd say you're pretty safe to tell." So we did. :)
My mom called her cousin yesterday, and then she called the other cousin a few minutes later, but by the time she called Cousin B, Cousin A had already called Cousin B and spilled the beans. News travels like wildfire in my family. No kidding. It totally cracks me up.
Also - I remembered the QOTD that I was going to ask yesterday: Have your parents or IL's decided what they want the baby to call them?
My mother told me the other day that she wants to be called Mormor, which is pronounced more-more, and translates to mother's mother in Swedish. We have Swedish heritage & nobody has chosen Mormor as a title. My mom will be the last Grandma, so my aunt suggested my mom take it. My father hasn't said he wants to be anything specifically, and B's mom is already Gramma Marie. We hardly see B's dad, who will probably be Grandpa Ed.
My mother told me the other day that she wants to be called Mormor, which is pronounced more-more, and translates to mother's mother in Swedish. We have Swedish heritage & nobody has chosen Mormor as a title.
Too funny. This will be one of the names my mother will go by also. I am 100% Danish and it is also translates to mother's mother in Danish.
MrsHill DH and I are both the baby in the family so his mom and dad are already mi-maw and pi-paw(I hate these names:mad: ) and my mom and step-dad are grammy and T-paw. This will be my dad's first grandchild so he and my step mom are the only ones who don't have names. They will probably go by something simple. (Grandmaw Pam and Pops or Papa?) My grandmaw is Nana and my great-grandmother was Nanny so those are out too. I figure my dad will come up with something!
QOTD - So My mom will be Grandma and Papa, My Dad will be Grandpa and Nana and His parents are Grandmommy and Granddaddy... It's so hard there can only be one grandma and grandpa...
I also have my grandpa is still alive and he's my Papa... and my G. Grandmother is still here and she's Grandma Jones. Soo Confusing sometimes.
Telling people
We started telling people once we saw the heartbeat on the u/s. My dr. said there is only about a 5% chance of miscarriage at that point.
Grandparent nicknames
I will be annoyed if all three sets of grandparents (my parents are divorced and remarried) insist on being called something besides "Grandpa" and "Grandma." I just find it annoying if everyone wants to be "special" and no one just sticks to the normal names. It's one thing if there is a special family name that people in the family have used or some other special reason, but it's another thing to just make something up just so it is different from Grandma.
So far, I know my mom wants to be Nana because she had an extremely beloved "Nana" as her grandmother. That makes sense to me. I think my dad and wife will stick with Grandma and Grandpa. Apparently MIL has already decided she wants to be "Mama B" for unknown reasons. :rolleyes: Whatever, at first I was worried she was going to make up a dumb reason to also be called "Nana," just to make my mom's name not special, so at least that didn't happen...
Caveat that I don't find it generally annoying for other people's parents to pick all different names, just personally annoying for me. I want my kids to call someone grandma and grandpa, I don't want a whole family of Nanas, Pop-ops, Bubbas, Mormors, or whatever for no particular reason at all.
Sorry if that was overly snipy, not feeling great and in one of those moods... :)
Hello. I'm just popping my head in to introduce myself.
Me: Rachel, 26
Dh: Neil, 27
married: June 15, 2002
TTC: June 2006
BFP: 6/21/06
EDD: 3/3/07
Gender Prediction: Hoping for a girl
Other Children: none
I wanted to meet all of you because I have a feeling I will go early. Lots of diabetic moms seem to.
Symptoms- tired, emotional, BLOATED, and a little bit of queasiness from 3-5pm.
Names: Maya or Noah
Grandparents: Dh's parents will be gma and gpa. My mom will be probably be Peppin. It started out as a long joke and kind of stuck.
I'm a kindergarten teacher and I can identify with whoever said their husband nixes a lot of names! That's happened to me too.
I posted this in the MOMs thread, too:
They saw SEPARATE sacs today!!!!! YAY!!!!!
But they are sharing a placenta, so it doesn't mean everything 100% in the clear, but SEPARATE SACS!
And they were pretty active, flinging their tiny tiny legs around, so I am feeling a little more comfortable.
Next hurdle: Another US Aug 10.
(For those of you who don't understand, that is a VERY good thing!!!! I'm off with one of the local ladies who also is a twinmama, to go get a book or two and help her find some umbrella strollers so walking the farmer's market isn't such a PITA with her doublewide.)
Oh, and I don't know what I was on, but I'm 8 weeks today.
When I can get my husband to hook the scanner up, I will scan the newest US.
QOTD: Is anyone else's husband treating them like an invalid? I mean, we move in a week and two days, I understand I can't help paint or use chemicals to clean, but he doesn't even want me shifting boxes. He won't let me carry bags from the grocery store.....That's all fine and dandy, but let me do it while I can!
Okay, I am back. I was on Vacation until yesterday and it has taken me all this time to catch up while still trying to work! I don't think I can even attempt to do personals, but Welcome Rancher's Wife and Shimmerstar.
I don't mind anyone calling me by my name, Michelle, if you can remember it!
I still don't think I can say I have had any m/s really. I hear from all of you ladies and I feel bad for feeling so good... :) I do get queasy and my train rides are ruined because they seem to make me nauseated, so I have been driving to work more and more. I have actually had diarrhea for the past two days (TMI, I know) and I am worried it is because I was off of my crohn's disease medication for 7 weeks. I just started taking it again this morning and although it is supposed to take a while to work, I am hoping my body will respond quickly and start being nice to me again.
I had a huge burger for lunch with fries and I am regretting it. I went to the dr's this morning to get my blood work and hear the heartbeat for the first time (we saw it in the u/s, but today we heard it). I had lost a pound at the dr., but I am certain I found it at lunch today. My clothes are getting tighter, but I can still wear quite a a few things without a rubber band, except the button-down shirts, but I have raved about that enough in the past!
One or two more weeks until I am out of my first trimester (depending on who you talk to). I can't believe how fast it is going!
I got an entire duffel bag of maternity clothes from my sister who had ds #2 in May. I was so glad to get them, but I can't wear them quite yet. A girl at my office just announced last week that she is 5 months pregnant! I can't believe she waited that long. You could really tell that she was, but how do you call someone on it! A girl saw her scratching her belly and finally made her fess up! I couldn't wait until 5 months! I still haven't told my office, but the rest of our world knows. After a good u/s at 8 weeks and then seeing my extended family last weekend, I just had to tell!
As for names, we have ours picked out and have for a while. My dh has a family name, but I flatly refuse to name our child that. I am not being mean, but how could you name a precious baby "Cletus?" it's just not right! I love him, but no- I won't do it. Just thinking about it makes my stomach churn. We start to talk about it and I literally start to sweat and get nervous. How could I ever do that. Anyway, he has agreed to not name this child Cletus, but I may have to fight for the sake of other boys if we have them. Pray for all girls for me, please?
As for grandparent names, I always called mine grandma and grandpa and distinguished them using their last names- Grandma Curtis and Grandma Keller. But to them, it was just Grandma. I don't know what dh's parents want to be called, but I am not a fan of the silly names either. Who knows. My nephew is calling my dad "papa" and it is adorable. He knows my mom better, but he can't say "grandma" so she is so upset that he said "papa" first! Too funny! He is trying to say something like Grandma, but our speech therapist friend said "g's" are a later sound for babies.
Okay, I have rattled on enough. Hi again to everyone and I will try to keep up better from here on out!
Has anyone's ultrasounds measured earlier than you expected?
My first ultrasound measured 6 weeks and not 7.5. :confused: :(
I am trying my best not to worry because the doctor didn't seem concerned, but from the day I got my BFP it is IMPOSSIBLE that I am only 6 weeks. (that would put me getting a positive test 5 dpo) We saw the heartbeat, but I am worried that it is just too small!
Shimmerstar ~ Welcome to the group! Did the March 07 mommies have Mommy IDs made as well? If so we can just copy the link and add it. Let me know either way and if they didn't I'll let MSH know and she'll make you one.
Rancherswife ~ Those are the Mommy IDs. They will be listed on the first page of our threads. MSH is in the process of making yours. I'll post it once she sends it me.
StacieLady - 1st u/s are not always really accurate on measuring. As you get further along those u/s will be more accurate.
Really? I've always been told (and found in my own research) that having an u/s done in the first trimester is always very accurate compared to those when you are further along since babies grow at different rates as the pregnancy progresses.
Shimmerstar - Welcome! Glad to see you here.
StacieLady - The doc told me yesterday that there is a +/- 5 days margin of error on the early ultrasound. I also think you might've O'ed 1-2 days later than FF said you did, but it's hard to know.
Threadmistress: My u/s picture is here (http://www.constantchatter.com/showpost.php?p=854579&postcount=695). If it's too much trouble to add it; no worries.
I was told both of my OBs that it's much more accurate in the first trimester (or before a certain date) than past a certain week. And all of my research backs up what I've been told as well.
I had an u/s one day before DD was born last June and it measured her as being 38 wks even though I was 40 wks 3 days. Every u/s I'd had up until then put her 4 days ahead of my LMP EDD. My OB said not to worry about the last u/s because they aren't accurate that late.
The mommy id's are cute. It'll be fun when we all get them populated with belly shots and u/s pictures.
Michelle, I feel your pain on the name. DH is a second and I know he and his parents really want a third. But I refuse. My personal opinion is that each person aught to get their own name. As for Cletus...yeah, I would use veto power on that one. Worse case scenario, can you move it to a middle name...and spare the boys for generations to come? I did tell my husband we could pass on his middle name since it has been in the family for many many generations and it is just as bad as Cletus. That was my compromise.
Stacie, as long as your doctor is not worried, I wouldn't fret too much. Can you ask your doctor for another u/s in a week or two just to see that there is good growth? That might help put your mind at ease, and any good doctor should be willing to do that. And don't forget, a technician is human. They might have done the measurement wrong as well. You should not have to stress over this for your entire pregnancy!!!
jenjen0713
u/s accuracy - I also was told and had read that the early u/s are always more accurate than the ones later on in pregnancy. This is the first time I've ever heard a doctor say that later u/s are more accurate. Here's some info I found that states early u/s are more accurate.
"By 8 weeks the embryo is well seen. Measuring the length of the embryo, called the “crown-rump length,” at this time gives the expected due-date very accurately, to within 3 or 4 days. The further along in pregnancy the first dating is done, the less accurate it is.
An important point to make here: if your dates are uncertain (and there are lots of reasons you might not be sure how far along your pregnancy is) then the first ultrasound you have sets the due date, and that is not changed by subsequent ultrasounds. For example, if your first ultrasound, done at 8 or 10 weeks, says you are due on the 1st of May, and an ultrasound done 6 or 8 weeks later says you are due the 20th of May, the second ultrasound does not change the due date. The second ultrasound should be interpreted that the baby is not growing at the expected rate (the baby is not as large as it should be)."
" Early ultrasounds are best for dating because, early in a pregnancy, all fetuses grow at about the same rate. Therefore, measurements correspond well to gestational age. However, later in pregnancy, fetuses show more characteristics of their own growth pattern, and correlation to gestational age is not as clear. In general, first-trimester ultrasound measurements of gestational age are accurate to within about five days. Second-trimester ultrasound measurements of growth are accurate to about 8-12 days. "
jenahdawn - Congratulations on there being two sacs! I'm sure that was a relief! Your babies are learning their first lesson in sharing now...they need to make sure to equally share in the nutrients you are sending their way to the placenta. :p
I've heard that the very early ultrasounds (like 6 weeks or before) often aren't as accurate. So maybe the 8 week ultrasound usually is accurate, while both the befores and afters aren't as accurate?
So I'm glad everyone is talking about due dates b/c i have a couple of questions and I need help!
Okay here's the story: I am(was) on a 21 day cycle. DH and I know that May 25th was the day the swimmer got through (b/c its the only day we didn't use protection). The first day of my last period was the 17th and as you can see that's only a week and 1 day b/f conception, which for most people is not normal, but for me its completley normal. AF was due June 7th. Will I not be due a little earlier than expected b/c I O'd quicker in my cycle than others whose last period was May 17th?
I know due dates are just an estimate, but I am a little neurotic and think about things like this a lot. Does anyone else know wheat day they conceived?
Yeah, but hopefully they don't learn the big scary, "sharing" blood with each other.
So, last night I bought "Beyond Jennifer and Jason, Madison and Montana" and before I even got to open it up, he took it from me and read over half of it....Maybe he will have SOME ideas now....
PrincessCJ - Sperm live inside you for 3-5 days, so knowing the date that you did not use protection is only helpful with a 5 day window of accuracy. More importantly is what day you ovulated; the egg only survives for 24 hours. So, you probably ovulated somewhere around the 25th - 30th. For estimation's sake, & until you know differently, I'd say you ovulated (and conceived) on the 27th, and count from there.
Does anyone else know what day they conceived?
I'm pretty sure since I was charting.
Jenahdawn- that's so exciting! :D
Thanks for the welcome. I do have a mommy ID in the March thread.
Shimmerstar~ Congratulations and Welcome. We are happy to have you!
MrsHill- How many weeks do I count from the estimated conception date?
14 days backwards; they assume that you ovulate 14 days after your period starts. That's incorrect for you, absolutely... but you still count back the 14 days. :)
I bet we're not too far off saying that you conceived on the somewhere between the 25th-27th. Using the 25th for your ovulation date would put your luteal phase at 12 days (assuming your period was to arrive on the 7th), which is on the short side of normal. 27th would make it 10 days, which is the shortest it can be and be able to sustain a pregnancy.
Princess - I am just making this up, but I think if you count from the conception date plus two weeks, you will get how far along you are right now (since everybody is supposed to count from their last menstrual period, and drs assume 14 days until ovulation).
Also if you wanted to calculate a due date, I would subtract 14 days from the conception date, and then enter that as your last menstrual period into a due date calculator. All of these calculators are assuming that you ovulated 14 days after your last menstrual period. Some calculators will let you input your ovulation date as well, so then you wouldn't have to do all this weird adding and subtracting.
Anyway, I don't know for sure that this is how you'd do it, but I think that is a klugey (sp?) way to figure it out.
March of Dimes has an ovulation predictor with estimated delivery dates and it allows you to input the length of your cycle.
Here is what mine said:
You entered a date of May 17, 2006
Estimated Ovulation Date Wednesday, May 24, 2006
Estimated Due Date Wednesday, February 14, 2007
Here's the website if anyone else wants to play around:
Those calculators are always wrong for me since I usually ovulate on Day 18/19 and have an 11/12 day LP. I tried the March of Dimes one and it was actually better than most I'd seen -- it was two days early for me. In any case, PrincessCJ, I think you'd be close enough to use any of those days. :)
Bombera - I forgot to say earlier that I too would avoid Cletus as much as I could. ;)
Wow, I thought the May/June05 thread moved fast!:eek: I'm gonna have a hard time keeping up!:)
mommy id's: thanks for the clarification!
early u/s: I have always heard around 8-10 weeks is most accurate. Stacey Lady I wouldn't worry too much, if your dr. didn't seem concerned, I'm sure everything is fine. I would just ask for another u/s in a couple of weeks. I'm sure your OB wouldn't mind doing it to ease your mind.
Welcome shimmerstar
jenahdawn: YAY! For two sacs!:D
Hope everyone has a great weekend and is able to get a lot of rest. DS is spending Saturday night w/ my parents, since we have a wedding reception to attend, I'm looking forward to sleeping in and relaxing on Sunday morning before going to pick him up!:p
jenahdawn- I apologize for being an idiot , but can you explain the signifigance of 2 sacs?
No problem.
Both in one sac could mean that their cords get twisted together, knotted, or wrapped around each other. It also means that my doctor wouldn't let me get past 30-32 weeks. (And the more days they are in here, the less days they are in the NICU)
TWO sacs means their cords are separated.
Sharing a placenta and sac is definite identical. Two separate sacs and placentas means fraternal. Two sacs and one placenta could mean anything. (They either have shared from the beginning or two placentas fused into one.) And now we can focu on that.
The big worry that we've talked about now is that, since they are sharing a placenta, you can get twin to twin transfer, meaning one (unwillingly) donates blood to the other. A major problem could be that the donor can be smaller and become anemic where the receiver would grow larger and could end up with health problem, so I'm still going to be watched.
But two sacs is a VERY good thing.
Jenahdawn- thank you for explaining! What a relief they are in 2 sacs. I had no idea that identical twins could have so may risks during pregnancy.
Happy Dance Here... So Eric and I went to my Dr's appt, and I HEARD the heartbeat... It's so amazing... I can't believe it... It's really in there. :D :D :D
I totally agree with the name Cletus... that's a no no... lol
Welcome to njnewyearsbride...Glad for you to join our family..
I finally took a picture this morning of just my belly.. ok shirt over it, but still there's a bump.. :D So I will post later tonight or tomorrow. I'm leaving work early to go to Greektown for Dinner and then to a Tigers game... all free from work. woo hoo.... So I won't be home until Late.
Ok so O' timing... Well I normally go 35 days. 1 month one week. Well LMP was April 24 and then we DTD on May 18... I know it's was only one time we didn't use protection. So first the Doc was like your due date is Jan 31... then he's was like well you US doesn't show that, and I said yes I know the date we dtd... so he moved it one week forward... so now the DTD is 2/9/07.
It's so confusing.
Also next appt is Aug 11,
"Hugs"
Welcome to shimmerstar & njnewyearsbride - and CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Jenah - so glad to hear about the 2 sacs - yay!
early u/s - I think what I'm getting out of all of this is that the 8-10 week u/s are the best - earlier & it's hard to make sure you're getting a good measurement, later & it's getting too late to determine due date based on measurements...
I'm actually feeling pretty good today...after feeling HORRIBLE yesterday. And I just went to Motherhood Maternity & bought 2 pairs of transition pants :D DH may have a fit...but I'll definitely keep one, if not both pairs...SO much more comfortable, and I really need some slacks I can wear for work! The skirt I have on today is comfy, but the waist is up at my RIBS :eek:
We've totally started telling people now...I've told my 2 partners at work - they're SO excited for me! And I've told my 2 good friends here in the office - and talk about craziness, one of them I knew was trying (the other's getting married later this summer) b/c we'd been talking about trying this spring...and not only is she pg, but she's due 2 DAYS before me!!! How nuts is that! :p
We'll be seeing some of our good friends this weekend, so will be telling them as we see them...so fun!
I'll pop in & out, but have a great weekend ladies!!!
Kat ~ So far my DH has been able to go to all of my appointments. If he isn't able to go then we may have to find someone who is able to watch DD (which could be a little tricky since we have to leave before my mom is able to get off from work).
jenah ~ Yay for two sacs! I saw a show on Discovery Health one time about twin to twin Transfusion Syndrome and it just made me feel so bad. I hope that you don't have to cross that problem during your pregnancy (none of the twin mommies in my other group thread had it and there 3 twin mommas). Thinking positive thoughts for you and your little ones.
ranchers ~ Sometimes this thread does move fast but I think the May/June thread moves REALLY quickly. Some days I can hardly keep up with it.
Wow, I can't believe there wasn't a single post in here all weekend!!
With only one more month to go, I am counting down the days that I'll be out of the first trimester. I am definitely hoping this m/s will go away and I'll get my energy back!!
Happy Munday Ladies!!
