username ~ 2Jacks&me
Expecting ~ a baby Girl!
Theme ~ DS is sharing his room and it is bugs, frogs, butterflies, turtles ( carters starters set)
Colors ~ blues, greens and yellow semi-pastels
Other hints ~ all of our stuff is really boyish, planning on using that Boppy again- didn't have a cover last time, that would be great. No registry- 2nd baby. Is there some wonderful baby must have you couldn't live without- or a friend talked up?

username ~ Aletheia
Expecting ~ a surprise!!
Theme ~ No cartoons (at least not yet!)
Colors ~ bright and cheerful; not pastels
Other hints ~ We'll be cloth diapering... and our Target Registry # is 011003993529795

username ~ Brenda
Expecting ~ a baby Girl!
Theme ~ Stars & Moon

Alrighty girls I think we are ready to start the 3rd Trimester!!

Please review the information above and let me know if there is anything on your 'Mommy ID', which needs to be updated. It was getting a little confusing in the old thread so I thought I would start fresh here.

CC Name:
Me: Name, age
DH: Name, age
Married: Date
TTC: Date
BFP: Date
EDD: Date
Gender Prediction:

Please also post any bellyshots or u/s pictures you would like to add. New belly shots will be updated as you post them.

As we are now in the homestrech (well getting closer) I would like to also add babyshowers to the 'Important Dates' post. So if you know when your shower will be please let us know :)

OMG! Fabulous job on the new thread! Was that you MSH that got it all set-up? It looks AMAZING! A million Thanks :D

Gosh, I didn't realize I am such a slacker & hadn't posted any ultasound or belly pics. I will try to post some tonight.

All of my info is correct and at your request my baby shower date is July 29th.

Thanks again for the new thread! 3rd TRIMESTER  !!!

I'll be in my 3rd trimester on Sunday so this is all a little scary! I can't believe that in 13 weeks I'll be meeting my little Bean!

Was that you MSH that got it all set-up?
That would be me. Thank you so much for the *props* :)

I am still a couple of weeks from the 3rd tri but blown away at how close we are getting. I am feeling the pressure to get things done but I am not getting it done.

The plan for this weekend (just as the ones before) is to work in the nursery and get some of the furniture ordered. We decided to go with the PBKs set and I am getting the itch to get the room done.

checking in...thanks for all your hard work msh!

camdynlyn i love your inspiration! thank god they didn't have that set when dd was born, i would have *had* to buy it. you got the color right on, i immediately thought of that serena & lily nursery when you posted your pic. i love all white bedding, those tailored bumpers are so cool.

i had my 23 week appnt the other day. nothing new to report, i've barely gained any weight which is good b/c i have tons left over from last time. i have absolutely no appetite, i wouldn't even eat ice cream if it was offered to me. i wasn't like this last time at all! i actually bought a whole cheesecake thinking i would nibble on it at night because i go to bed hungry, it's still sitting there a week later  .

have to go run some errands for dd's birthday party tomorrow. it's so freakin hot here, i'm never leaving the house this summer.

HUGE props to MSH for setting up the new thread!! :) Awesome job!

Dana: Thanks for the compliments. I'm trying hard to get it close to that picture but I wasn't spending $600 for crib bedding. I didn't spend that on MY bedding and I don't puke or poo on it! ;)

**
I'm doing well. I called to check on the prices for 3D/4D ultrasounds at my doctor's office since I go on Monday. I've had them done the past 2 times but they didn't charge me so I was curious about this time. They told me it'd cost $200 but then said she's not sure if they'd have time for that. I think that means they must do something special for you because when we've had it in the past, we just switched the wand thing over and took some quick looks and pictures. Done in 5 minutes. Maybe I can beg and whine for it again! :o I can't wait to see this little girl!

Love the Mommy ID's- so cute!

Anyone else having "trickle" issues? I can't sneeze, cough or laugh without crossing my legs! What the heck?

We had DS's appt with the rehab Doc at Children's Hospital. All in all we were happy. Basically he saw no probs with his legs, but more so with the right arm. We are going to keep up with PT/OT and can consider botox or baclifen (sp?) should we want ( we will wait) and just for the sake of having a daignosis - he is calling it " mild mono or hemi diplegic cerebral palsy"
mono meaning one extremity, hemi diplegic meaning one arm, one leg on same side. For insurance sake he is bumping it up to moderate so the therapy will be covered.
He chose not to do any testing like MRI etc.. since the cause is irrelevant and DS may not have it at all- since things with him are progressing well- most likely with true CP there is no progression or deterioration- and should it be a trauma or tumor etc- he would be getting worse.

So basically he may be just fine- time will tell. and we are going with the diagnosis to keep our therapies in action..
We are relieved!

Wow - MSH the new thread looks great! Just a fly by before I head to bed. I've been so exhausted this week - last night I went to bed at 6:30 and got 12 hours of sleep and I'm still pooped today.

We ordered the crib and dresser this week. Someone at work wants to throw me a shower. It's starting to get real. :)

First of MSHall thank you so much for the awesome thread, it looks great! I too love the mommy's ID on the front page.

Am I the only one a little bit sad that we are in our third trimester?? (officially tomorrow for me).... seems like I now start feeling preggers, I start showing a little bit, I feel the baby kicking and I just have three months left :( , I don’t know, even though I can't wait to meet the baby is just sad that now that I start enjoying my pregnancy (up until I know i just didn't feel pregnant) is almost over .

Anyhoo, sorry I have not been posting much lately but work is crazy and after spending a whole day behind the computer I just don’t feel like logging back in when I get home, I do take breaks while I am at work and read some, but is just practically impossible to post.

Congratulations ladies me made it to the third trimester!!!!!

babywish I wish the 2nd trimester was longer- God does something to us that makes us beg to give birth- it will be happening to us all soon- swollen ankles, aching backs, peeing every ten seconds, no room to breathe, and the baby moving sensation turns into a constant pressure. With DS I was constantly trying to push him out of my ribs! Good thing otherwise we all may fight the signs of labor!

Ds is sleeping in his own bed as of now- YEAH! Knock wood.

I was at Kohl's this mornign and all the clothes I tried on were terrible! My mom bought some patterns to make me a few things- but I am wary! I have a wedding and 2 showers to go to and i am feeling ugly- plus I cannot find any shoes that look decent without hurting! Blah

How can it be the third tri already? I still feel like I just got my BFP last week! :D

We are all moved into the new place! Loving it! Still in boxes, no fridge, no internet, but it's still great!

Feeling lots of consistant movement all day long. Baby has had the hiccups a couple times, that feels wierd! My new belly trick - you can now see the occassional strong kick from the outside.

I need to find the scale, wonder if I've gained any. I'm definitely bigger. Must take some belly shots soon!

Just a quick note. We are in Missouri visiting family for the next 5 weeks. I had my appointment last Tuesday. Passed the glucose test!!! Hate the drink but I can't stand really sweet stuff. They did another u/s! Nathan is growing well. I was 26wk 2 days and everything measured right on track except his head which was 1wk 3 days bigger then everything else. No big deal but Mommy doesn't like hearing about how big his head is! He weighed in at 2lb 1oz!!!! It had been exactly 4 weeks since my last u/s and he had gained 1lb and 1oz. I'm suppose to start my bi-weekly appointments but since I'm out of town I won't start until I return. I'm suppose to go to a doc here and have a cervical check but I doubt I will since I'm in the middle of nowhere and the contractions are much better. My cervic looked perfect on the u/s so I'm not worried but I will go if something doesn't feel right. My next appointment is July 6.

The new thread looks wonderful!!!!!

dana ugh- I am so glad I am not throwing up anymore- but should I - it would be disasterous! Can you even bend down to hit the target? I would have a prob there too.
twink never heard of reefs- but it is sounding interesting to me- were did you get them? I have wide feet anyhow- but it is out of control these days.

We wound up at the ped today ( thank god they have weekend hours) DS has an ear infection. He was uncharacteristically fussy yesterday afternoon and this morning he was banging his ear- so yep - ear infection. He is knocked out now- I am glad we got an older ped ( my mom says he was around when I was a kid!) because he gave us antibiotics- which many don't anymore. This is his first time on them- so maybe that is why- who knows!

Happy, fast, good-price home selling vibes Twink!

With the move and house stuff getting under control, I have to kick this baby planning into high gear! We have done/ordered/signed up for NOTHING! My goal this week is to find a childbirth class. Then, I have to clear out baby's room, register, take a hospital tour, start interviewing peds, order nursery furniture... UGH! So much to do!

QOTD - Can you bend down to tie shoes?

That process got mighty uncomfortable this past week!

{b} Thanks - I'm about ready to bury one of those iconic statues (some Saint, can't remember which one) in my yard just in case it will help - and I'm not superstitious at all.

QOTD: I can still tie my shoes, but glad flipflop season is upon us;)

luuvy- how your parvo screen comes back negative. I am not positive, but I think I was lucky to just avoid getting it.

I have to go to the lab for my GTT test this week. I can go any day but I am thinking later in the week might = less crowds. Need to find a babysitter because entertaining my two at the lab for an hour+ would be torture.

Morning ladies!

MSH Wonderful job on the new thread! Thanks for all your hard work.

mommy2alliwill I'm getting my 1hr GTT this week, too. They told me to drink the stuff at home and just make sure I got to the blood draw place so that they can draw it at exactly 1 hour. I wonder if you could do this, too, so as not to need a babysitter?

{b} Congrats on getting completely moved in! This is actually going to be the first year in five that we haven't moved! My DH is a post-doc and we move a lot! So hoping he gets a faculty postion this spring so that next year's move will be the last! Moving is a royal pain in the butt!

QOTD I still can tie my shoes, I just can't breath when I do.

Boy, anyone else an emotional mess? All I did was provoke fights with DH this past weekend (I take total responsibility, poor guy didn't know what was happening). The stress of the upcoming baby, his parents, my changing body, and the hormones really got to me. Really hoping this doesn't last til September!

Take care everyone!

Emotions: From Diane Sawyers special 'Calling All Angels' to the Dateline story on 'A routine epidural turns deadly' I have been a crying mess. I should have known something was up when I began to shed tears overs over Baby Story episodes that Ive already seen.

By the way the Dateline show was about Hospital-aquired infections, so if anyone is interested in reading about it here is the link...

Sad sad, story but you can ask your hospital about the things that they do to reduce complications associated with these types of infections.

First off, a huge thank you to MSH!!! What a fantastic thread intro section!

Some updates for the master list:
I turned 31 in March. Can you please update my age?
My 3rd ultrasound is 6/19.
1 hour GTT is 6/20.
Next o/b appointment is 6/29.
Shower #1 is 7/8.
Shower #2 is 8/6.

I had an appointment on Friday. I have gained another pound, for a total gain of 3 pounds. Fasolaki's heartrate was 150 bpm. My bp is good. "Pasta Primavera" (DH's term for the placenta previa) is marginal. Still have to take the precaution of no intercourse.

Paperwork & payment for our childbirth class on 7/15 has been sent in.

Fasolaki thinks he is trying out for Circe de Soleil. He is VERY active. He likes to settle on my left side during the night, so I can only sleep on my right side, which makes for a lot of hip pain. I tried the 2 pillow method last night (one under my hips, one between my legs) and that helped a bit. I was miserable Sunday morning because I barely slept Saturday night. My friend is going to loan me her body pillow. I didn't want to buy one only to find out I hated it or it didn't work. I still feel like I'm starving most of the time.

We went to The Right Start on Friday to update our rather small registry. DH had more fun than I thought he would. ;) We've decided on the Graco Snugride. It fits very easily into the CRV, but overhangs the Jetta. I need to find out from the car seat tech there if that's OK or if there's something we can do (a wedge?) to make it fit better.

Thanks to MSH for the new thread! It's great, and I love the idea of the Mommy Id's. Now I just have to get a decent photo.

3 more weeks of school. I can't wait to be finished.

THis baby is so busy and active, I can't believe it. I've really started to notice a pattern of wake/asleep times. My daughter has felt the baby move a few times now, and she is pretty amazed by it.

Sleeping is becoming a real issue. I always end up waking up and I'm sleeping on my back. My belly hurts, and I feel like I can't breathe or move. Then, of course, it takes me forever to roll over.

My next appt. is This Thursday, June 8th. I cancelled my appt. for 2 weeks ago and changed it to Thursday. I just wasn't in the mood to make the hour long trek to the town where my OB moved. I am still holding out hope that they might hire a new OB for our town, so that I can actually have this baby here, in the 2 year old beautiful hospital that is a two minute drive from my house. But, I'm losing faith.

Well, off to give Claire her bath. Daddy is working late, unfortunately, so we are on our own for the evening!

Yikes! A third trimester thread already!! Great job with it, though, threadmistress!!!

I have a couple of updates:
I am 27.
Next appointment and GTT: 6/26

I had an OB appointment today, blood pressure and h/b were fine, but my doctor says I am measuring a little large for my dates, so I will have to have another u/s to check on everything. I've heard that measuring large isn't a big deal since it could just be my uterus, a big baby, or he was wrong... but it's still a little disconcerting, but at least we'll get to see the baby again! She's been moving around a ton lately as soon as I sit still. DH had finally gotten a chance to feel her kick, too!

We got back from Europe over the weekend, 2 weeks of touring around London, Southern England, and Paris. We ate a lot, walked a lot, and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly!! (We even took a few belly shots to prove to our daughter that she's actually been to Versailles, the Louvre, and Westminster Abbey.)

We went crib shopping over the weekend, and we know what style we want, we're just trying to make a descision on where to buy it from, and figure out how long it will take. Suddenly 8-12 weeks for delivery seems awfully close to due date!

Hope everyone's feeling great these days!

Glucose Test
So this morning, bright and early, I got up and ate my breakfast. I'm still a little confused because it says to eat a good breakfast and gave suggestions. They didn't ask me anything about it though, so I hope it's okay. I drank my Fruit Punch flavored sugar. It wasn't bad at all and tasted like one of those clear fruit drinks (with the aluminum pull back lids) if you know what I'm talking about. Not bad at all but it sure was a lot of sugar. I was feeling jittery so I took an extra biscut in my car for afterwards. I had to wait about 10 minutes until my time and then they drew my blood. Stung a little but nothing bad.

Ultrasound
Then, off we went to the ultrasound. The first thing she checked was my placenta. EVERYTHING WAS GREAT!! No previa for me so that is awesome news!! She's also turned head down but on her left side a little (meaning, her body is on my left side and hands on my right). Her face is smooshed really tight against my placenta so I hope she doesn't have a smooshed face! My nose and all is crooked and I believe this is why but oh well.

They checked fluid levels (great), weight (2 lbs. 5 oz-- 55%-- CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS??), heartbeat (134bpm) and then all the sizes of random things. She said she was perfect. Oh yeah, then we did the butt shot and got to see the labia and said she's 100% girl so YAY for her pink room!! :D

I asked about the 3D/4D thing and told her we were interested. She said she'd check to see if we'd be a good canidate today because of the way she was turned and up against the placenta. She said not to waste our money! :( We wouldn't get a good face shot and possibly a decent profile. She did let us see what we could get, though. We decided to come back in a couple of weeks to check again.

We got a bunch of pictures on the CD this time but only a handful of decent ones. I was a little disappointed. Here's the good ones:

Her hand was up at her face. This is a face shot (alien) and you can see her nose and eyes. Her mouth kept opening and closing and it looks like she''s blowing you kisses:
http://static.flickr.com/55/160890594_cf09c0d126.jpg?v=0
The best 3D shot we got. I still think she has Steffie's nose:

Emotional mess? Why, yes, yes I am! I cried four times today, over nothing. Seriously, nothing. Well, once was over a sweet housewarming card my Mom sent with a check, which was totally unexpected. Once was while reading one of the PG books - I got to a section on wills, and cried over the idea of one of us dying. The other two things that sparked tears, I can't even remember!

I'm so pissed!! I failed my 1 hour glucose test!!!!!!!!!!! I have to take the 3-hour test one day this week. BBBOOOOO!!! I certainly hope I pass the 3-hour test because I don't do well with diets, I don't want to be pricking my finger 4 times a day and I CERTAINLY don't want to have to take insulin!!!!!

Lots of women fail the one hour and pass the 3-hour, so try not to get too worked up about it, craftgenious! Plus, even if you have GD, diet and exercise alone may be enough - my SIL had it with all three of her kids and she didn't have to do the blood monitoring at home.

QOTD~ I only wear tennis shoes when I go to the gym, but I can still tie them. I usually sit on the sofa and put a foot up on the coffee table though. Makes them easier to reach. ;)

{b} ~ Yes, I was told to fast after midnight before my GTT. It is interesting to see the differences in what we are told to do. I guess as long as the results are good, it doesn't matter. :)

Emotions~ *sigh* I cried off and on Saturday night and Sunday morning and I still have no idea why. I think I cried Sat. because I was tired and Sun. because a pair of capris no longer fit. They are ones I bought a long time ago that aren't meant to be worn in the 3rd trimester anyway (they button and zip) but the realization that it was time to put them away did me in I guess.

craft~ Those are great u/s pics. Especially that first one. I also know several people who failed the 1 hr GTT and then passed the 3 hr with no problem. How close were you to passing?

suiej and Camdynlyn~ Glad to hear you had good appts today.

A couple of dates I forgot to add:
June 12 OB appt
June 24 shower

I just realized today that I haven't taken a belly shot in 4 or 5 weeks. Shame on me! I will try to do one this evening or in the morning. I know it is all in my head, but I hate taking pictures of my belly after I have eaten. :o Not that it will make much difference at this point - the belly is out there!

emotions oh yeah, i cried the other day when i picked up dd's birthday cake b/c they did such a good job on it.

fasting i didn't have to last time, but this time i was told not to eat for 12 hrs. i need to call and see if i can pick up my drink beforehand, there's no way dd will sit there for an hour.

MSH - thanks for the great new thread. I love the mommy ID's

I can't believe were going into the third trimester. I have less than a week to go until I get there  It seems like just yesterday I got my BFP and now I'm almost 2/3 of the way through my pregnancy.

Trickle Issues I've been lucky so far and I hope to stay that way

QOTD-Shoes I can still tie my shoes but it is getting harder everyday

Here are my 26 week belly shots

batgirl- I wish:) The lab here must not trust pregnant ladies. I don't even get the drink until I get there & then they time you since you have to drink it in 5 minutes. My Mom is watching the kids this morning & I am taking a book. An hour alone isn't such a bad thing.

craft- Sorry you got stinky news. Like the others say, lots of woman failt he one hour & pass the three hour. FWIW, when I had GD with dd I controlled it with diet & exercise, no insulin. I'll be crosing my fingers that you do not have it.

emotions: I am okay this week but my poor Dh has gotten to witness some real tantrums recently.

leaking: the one bonus of having two c-sections, no incontinence issues.

Hi everyone. I had my appt today and all is very well. Conor's hb was 148. My b/p was 100/60 and I have gained 12 lbs so far. I go in next week for my gtt test and my rhogham shot. I have to now go back every 3 weeks.
My next appt is June 27th. My ds's 3rd bday.
Spencer'sgirl ~ THat's a great pic. You look really good.
Leaking ~ Heck yeah. I can't cough or sneeze without a little. Also this baby seems to kick right in a certain spot because when he does I pee a little... it's very annoying.
craft ~ I'm sorry you have to take the 3 hour test. Fingers crossed that you pass!!

Leakage - occasionally I have this problem when I'm coughing/dry heaving and I have to pee. If I've recently gone, I'm usually fine. Although, I do my kegels and this is my first baby, so I do find it a little disconcerting.

I will do the updates tonight girls!

I am so happy these days. I am thrilled to be PG. We have decied on furniture and when to order it. I will be re-painting the nursery starting this evening and I am super excited about the new theme. I think it will look awesome!!

I also found out my ILs are planning to throw me a shower. I am so relieved as I honestly wasn't sure they would and I would have been very dissapointed in that ... I know that sounds selfish but you would have to know the full story to really understand where that comes from. Anyways, I am just very pleased with how things are right now.

I am not brave enough to show a bare belly shot. I can't hardly get my computer to upload pictures but if I can forward them to someone to upload that would be great. Let me know if someone would be willing to do that. My appt has been changed to Thursday June 8th, I also have turned 25 if that could be updated. My baby shower will most likely be July 29th. Still the same appointment was just busy on Friday so am doing it on Thursday.

{b} I felt the same way about baby showers... With my wedding shower no one said anything for forever then finally my mom took over and threw a huge one and my inlaws and friends caught wind and chipped in with $ and help. But it is a wierd thing- you can't really say, " Hello? Doesn't anyone want to throw me a party?" But people sure do wait around til the last minute!

Lately I am swamped at work which means no CC time for me… how do they dare to take time away from CC?? ;).
I am loving the third trimester, I don’t know if is just me or what, but up until now I did not get the 'prego' treatment, no opening doors for me, no 'when are you expecting?' nothing!, but seems like all the sudden this week people starting to realize that I am pregnant and I am loving it!
My boss came to my desk on Monday after their mgrs' meeting and he told me he does not want me in the office after 6:00pm, it might sound crazy to some people, but I tend to stay late hours, not always but whenever I need to finish stuff, and lately is been quite often. He seems to be taking things a lot easier (long story but he was moving overseas and end up changing his mind, him and his wife just had a baby a couple of months a go and he seems totally dedicated to 'fatherhood' which makes things much easier for me).
So the good news is that no more late nights for me at the office… needless to say DH was happy to hear about that, he was starting to get concerned because he didn't want me to get too stress out in my third trimester and speed things out.
I am not even that concern with my weigh gain anymore, I just eat healthy and if I feel like indulging myself I do it, without regretting it, probably because I am not getting in the scale at home, but oh well… lets see how I deal with it once we start with the every other week visits to the OB, which by the way will start next week (I can't believe things are moving so fast!). Now I just need to start going to the gym again… I am becoming very lazy
My shower is July 22nd, (like Craft) and I haven't even registered yet… how pathetic am I??
Well ladies, sorry no time for SO's today, hopefully one of these days I will have some more time to spend around here. Hope everyone has a great rest of the week!

Try not to fret too much about the GTT. You could be in the clear after the 3-hour test. I seem to have passed the glucose part, but flunked the anemia portion. (Didn't know I was being tested for that at the same time.) So now I have to go to and get my iron supplements from Kaiser. Boo!

I think I have a shower on August 5th. My friends are planning it and I don't know the details, but they're supposed to give me a date soon. Of course, I'm supposed to give them a list of people to invite, too! ILs may be throwing one before then, too, so I should probably register soon!!

Registering If you're registering at more than one place, how are you deciding what to put on each registry? I'd hate to duplicate things on two registries that are very similar. We may do BRU and BuyBuyBaby or Target.

I'm hoping we can decide on a crib soon, too. ILs are buying, which seems to be confusing matters a bit.

Appointments - I scheduled my follow-up u/s for June 16th to find out why I'm measuring large. Hopefully just a big little girl in there! I have my GTT and next OB appointment June 26th.

I had a complete emotional breakdown yesterday for no reason at all, I spent most of the morning crying or blinking back tears. Stress from work, getting ready for baby, etc, I'm sure. Fortunately DH knew I was upset about something (even if he didn't know what) and he sent me flowers yesterday afternoon at work! It completely reversed my mood. Love him so much!

I got kicked all day yesterday, so much that you could actually see my belly move! Today, she seems a little quieter!

Had my first appointment with the midwifery today. Two of the midwife's patients were inm labor so she was late getting to the appointment, but the nurse was really helpful and went though everything with me that wasn't done at my first appointment with the old practice. I'm up 10 pounds so far which they seemed a bit concerned about, but I told them I had plenty of padding to begin with and was eating whenever I was hungry, at least three meals a day. It's likely just stress because we have so much going on. Same thing happened before our wedding.

They asked what I had for breakfast and I had to fess up that I had two bowls of Lucky Charms. They said not to eat that before the GCT or I would fail. Oops. The heart rate was 160 bpm and measurements looked good. I asked how she knew where to look for the heartbeat and learned something interesting. She said if you are right handed, your baby is more likely to camp out on the right side of your body. Today he was butt up, head down so that is good. She said that until 34 weeks, they can still move pretty well so it doesn't really matter which way they are facing.

Registering I started doing my registry online, but have no clue on most things. I asked a friend of mine with a one year old to come with me to the store to help me pick things out since she has recent experience.

Registering FYI
I have talked up babies r'us / toys r'us a ton- but my last trip to Toys I got a flyer in it stating that starting June 12th- their new return / exchange policy will be enforced strictly- They too want a receipt and must be within 90 days.

This is what I loved so much before- easy exchanges.. So do you think it tacky to remind people on invites to hang on to gift receipts? I am not having a shower- but it is so hard when you get stuck with items that are repeats.

Target is a tuffy on returns exchanges with out receipt. I actually had a defect pack of bottles- they were liek " too bad"

I walked right past the counter to the baby aisle- bought a new pack of bottle- walked immed back to the cust service desk and used my new receipt to return the old defect bottles! DH said that was stealing- but I bought an item ( ventaire ) without the vents! I know that they just send it back to the company!
Ventaire by Playtex We liked these bottles- but cleaing them sort of sucks. You have to call the company and they will send you an order form to order new vents because like nipples - they get scuzzy after a while....

This baby- if we do bottles- I think I wil stick to the orig playtex nurser. Easy clean up and if you are out you can bring a few nipples and a few bags and one bottle

Dotsie
06-07-2006, 02:21 PM
I agree with the orig playtex nursers. That's what we used with DS #1 and will do the same with DS#2. They are so easy with the drop ins. I'm planning on pumping and ff this time around so I think it will be a good fit.

allies really- I didn't know that! The time I called they just went me that order form- cheapos! Oh yeah- With the ventaire Mine also cracked in the dishwasher. They sent me a label to send them back and then once they got them I got a coupon for replacements.

It is wierd to think I only have 13 weeks to go and I will be back into all these things again that I haven't thought of in a bit! DS was 11 days early- so who reallly knows?!

names So it seems we have settled on Eliza. DH just said a few nights ago- "So you really like it , huh?, OK" I was really hoping that we would both have the same level of liking it- but maybe that is a stretch.
I will be sure to bring it up more because I would hate it to be one of those things where he just gave in.
I had a patient yesterday tell me that they named their daughter Hannah, and it turned out she finds later that her husband really wanted Brooke- but since he never pushed the issue- she didn't realize HE REALLY WANTED it.

middle namesthose are tough! I lean towards naming her after someone but who? I always thought that I would name any gender after my dad, James. But now that we are having a girl it isn't that I wouldn't use it, but I think my mom would be crushed. They are divorced. So here we go with a girl and the year my grandma dies and we go as far as to avoid all the other possibilities and name her Eliza James.
Grandma's name was Elaina- then changed to Ellen as an adult. EEK - Jack does not like that - me- who cares.
Mom's name is Barbara... ew.
DH's mom ( not an option anyhow) Esther.

hmmm. never thought of this- but what if we use the "E" as in memory of Ellen or Elaina? Then we could use James and things would be smoothed over? Is that honest? Well, it is not the way I came around to liking Eliza. But.....

See the ramblings that go on when a person cannot sleep past 4 am! I have to leave for work in an hour anyhow.

I saw the OB yesterday, it was the stupid OB, so no new info. Still dealing with the PUPPS, but my blood pressure is staying well within healthy range, so that is great news. Took the 1 hour Glucose test, got the old standby orange, tasted the same as always, but boy did I feel sick this time after drinking it. I just sheduled my Rhogham shot for 6/13.

As for the other topics:
My DD did not use any bottles, she refused to take them(she nursed until 15 months and started drinking other things in a sippy at 3 months,) even though I had a whole supply of Avents. My son hated the Avent bottles too, so we wound up using the Playtex Premium NaturaLatch nursers initially and then switched to the VentAire NaturalShape Reusable bottles. I really don't know what we will use with this baby as I still have all of those available. I guess we'll just see what he takes.

Names are still causing us great issue. We have come across some that we like, but nothing that has shouted "That's it!" quite yet. I guess we'll just keep searching.

our name of the week is jack harrison, i have a feeling that's what we'll end up using, even though i haven't even pulled out the baby name books yet. we've both liked jack for years, but it just got so popular.

bottles my dd hated the avent bottles, too. she eventually took a dr. brown's bottle (like twice!). she didn't like bottles at all and it worked out fine b/c i didn't work and pretty much had her with me at all times.

Names were pretty easy for us, we had both the boy and girl names decided on before we knew what the baby was.

POUT I dont get to be part of the 3rd Tri Club yet! I have two more weeks to go!!!! Im getting antzy now for this baby! I cant wait til the kicking is really noticeable on the outside, Chance (the 12 year old) is dying to feel his little brother, he is becoming facinated with my growing belly and finds the need to poke it every day, not hard just a lil poke...

Yeah for third trimester. I hit that mark this weekend.

I have a message from my OB & I know what that means. They are closed for lunch but I am sure I am going back for the 3 hour GTT. If the numbers are high & not just borderline I may ask to skip the 3 hour & go right to the diet. Since I did it with DD I know I can handle it. Hmmh, had GD with dd & not ds, does that mean #3 is a girl?

Bottles- we used Avent at the begining because they screw right onto my breastpump (Avent Isis) but when the kids were older and formula fed more we used the plain Gerber bottles.

Ut-thanks for the postive thoughts but that is what it was. My blood sugar was borderline 148, the cut off is 140. So they really want me to take the 3 hour within the next week. I know since my ds was 9 pounds 3 oz they are going to make me follow the diet either way. Oh well, 3 hours alone at the bloodlab, I am sure I can find some stuff to keep me occupied.

I know what you mean...the time has flown by! And I tell you, it really has been great sharing this time with you ladies. It's nice to have someone to chat with who is going through the same things you are!

As the time draws near...I'm wondering...Who will be the first to deliver???? :) Some of you ladies are due at the very end of August and some in the beginning of September. But I guess we really don't know...we could all "pop" at any time!! haha! Well, I'm in my 3rd trimester (27w3d) and I had my GTT test Monday. They said I'd get a call in 2-3 days if I didn't pass and would find out at my next appointment if I did. Well, the lady said they'd probably call either way. It's been 3 days so being the impatient person I am, I called. They haven't came back yet so she put a note for them to call me no matter what! I'm hoping I passed but at this point, it's anyone's game. I've been having pulse races and dizziness which they said could be the cause of low blood sugar. We'll see! :(

Otherwise, doing well. I've been nauseated the past 2 mornings so I hope this isn't going to be another thing. I JUST got over my morning sickness around 22 weeks!

Appointment: My next midwife appointment is on 6/29.
Showers: Friends Shower is 8/12, Family is 8/19. I have no idea why they're split, but that's what the friends and family decided. I'm staying out of it.

Sweetie went with me to my midwife appointment this morning, so he got to hear her heartbeat again. This is only the second appointment he's been to, aside from the ultrasounds.

Anyhoo - all is well with the little one. I'm up 13 lbs total, my bp was 120/78. That's high for me, but I was nervous and I know that if I'd had more time to calm myself, it would have read a little lower. E's heart rate was 158 bpm, and she tried to squiggle away from the doppler again. She's getting bigger, though (obviously) so it wasn't really much of a trial to find her heartbeat this time.

I got the orange drink for my GTT. I have to take it 45 minutes before I go to my next appointment and they'll do the blood draw when I get there. My next appointment is in 3 weeks instead of 4 to get me back on their "normal schedule" to set up appts for 28 weeks, 30 weeks, 32 weeks, etc.

I got to ask a couple of questions about the hospital's policies about fetal monitoring and an IV. Neither is required unless something unusual or distressing pops up. They'll check her when I first get to the hospital, and then they'll do intermittent monitoring as long as we're both healthy.

I'm very happy about this - I was scared I was going to have to fight to stay out of bed and moving around. The midwife was pretty blase about the fact that they prefer that I walk, rock on the ball, and shower/jacuzzi if at all possible, and avoid the bed until the pushing stage. So, if all goes well, I'm free!! And, even if they do want to monitor Ms. E, they have water proof telemetry so I can still labor in the shower or Jacuzzi... yay!

I'm feeling much better about the delivery taking place at the hospital now. I loathe hospitals and medical settings, so this is big progress for me. Also, they won't push for an induction until I'm 42 weeks, so I feel a little better about that. I have a terror of Pitocin, and I absolutely refuse Cytotec.

Hmm... what else? Oh yes, the 2 baby showers. One will be with my girlfriends and one will be family. I'm not sure what happened there, but my 2 friends were planning 1 shower with the ILs, and then something changed. So, 2 parties, yay for baby!

And... that's it for me.

Oj yeah - I love the name Eliza James.

Hi ladies,

Craft good luck with the 3hr GTT! Was it today?

Mommy2AliWill So sorry you need to do the 3hr. I am supposed to find out my results from the one hour this afternoon. With my luck this week... okay, thinking happy thoughts...

Rosegarden I'm right there with ya. Still one week to go before 3rd trimester. Frankly, time is going by a little too fast, so kind of glad that I still have one more week of second trimester.

Well, we had an official scare yesturday. I started having contractions at 1am Thursday morning. Stupid me, didn't know what they were! After several conversations with the nurse (and spending most of the day on the couch drinking water, which wasn't so bad except for the constant peeing!) they decided they wanted me to come in... so 10pm last night DH and I made our way to the hospital.

The hospital staff was wonderful. Vey fast and efficient. I was hooked up to all sorts of monitors and given lots of tests. Turns out that I have a bacterial infection (they saw it on a wet mount) that caused the contractions. Luckily, the contractions did not affect my cervix, which was fully closed. I was given a script and sent home. I need to call back for test results this morning and go back next week to be checked again, but otherwise, feeling much better (mentally) and hope the contractions subside once the antibiotic starts to work. She did say that I'll probably end up with a yeast infection thanks to the antibiotics, but hey, as long as this baby stays put, I don't care what they do to me.

One note of advice... since we are all approaching D-day, we are going to be feeling lots of aches and pains. I DID NOT want to go to the hospital last night because I was so worried that what I was having was not contractions, that I didn't want to feel like a hypochondriac. I just want to say that when I mentioned this to the nurse they said not to feel this way. We, as pregnant ladies, have lots on our minds, and if we are feeling discomfort, please call the doctor. If they say go in, go in! We aren't wasting their time. And always trust your intuition. If I had not gone in, they said my infection could have spread thru my uterus and caused complications with the baby. Okay, off soapbox.

I'm going back to bed. Have a wonderful contraction free weekend everyone. And good luck with those GTTs!

Batgirl - Get yourself some plain, organic yogurt with active cultures and guzzle as much as you can. Also, keep pushing fluids and avoid sugar and simple carbs as much as possible. That will help you avoid (or tone down) a yeast infection. You really don't want one of those if you can avoid it - very uncomfy!

Hello!!! I have internet again! Hooray!

MSH, this thread looks awesome. I can start to help with updates again-- you've been a lifesaver.

I can't believe I'm in the third trimester! I haven't found a childbirth class yet either! ACK!

More later. I'm so happy to be back!

thanks for all the votes on the name- that makes me fell more secure- Dh thought my idea about the "E" was fraudulent since we liked it before I came up with that scheme.

Jack have to say I like it. I really like Harrison- that is a good match. We wound up with Jack because he is a third. So no choices there. I do not personally know any Jacks other than my own family- but I have heard about the popularity thing. I think that it is a good classic name. When Dh was growing up- there were absolutely none!
just as an aside- in highgschoool I had this friendish/ acquaintance whose boyfriend was a Jack. I liked the name then- but then I met him and he was WIERD. i never told Dh about this since it did taint me from the name.

GTT most of you seem to have taken it already. My last Ob visit 2 weeks ago- he said since I didn't have it last pg we could wait. I was 1 point away from having it though. I go to the OB again today.. I am sure I am fatter!
DS just threw his bowl of asparagus and rice on the floor- I guess I better go.... Have great weekends!

new discovery You may know abou thtis but, http:/www.dropshots.com is very cool. i just sent a clip from my camera to family and they loved it. Very fun

batgirl~ Take care and rest! I am sorry you had to hang out at the hospital, but glad you went in. And don't worry about being on your soapbox. I am sure we could all use a reminder to pay attention to our bodies and following our instincts as we get closer and closer. I know that I would have been just like you. As a first time mom, I think I would be hesitant to call a dr. because I wouldn't want to seem silly for what I was feeling. I personally appreciate your post a lot. :)

Aletheia~ Welcome back!! Are you settled yet?

Had my GTT yesterday. Lime drink sort of like the L'il Huggies plastic barrel drinks we had as kids.

We've been in our new place a week now! We finally have a fridge and a phone, cable and internet. And the daily furniture/appliance deliveries have stopped. We still have several boxes to go, but it's coming together nicely!

A coworker told me today I really popped - that if she hadn't known a week ago, she would have thought I had just gained a little weight, but that today you could totally tell I'm PG. Well, sheesh, I hope so! I'm almost in the third tri!

QOTD - Birth classes - Have you registered? Have you started? When do you start? What are you taking?

I got my 1 GTT test and anemia test back yesterday and they are all looking good. My next appt is July 14th and we should set up a date then when we are having this baby :( I have liked being pregnant this time.

I've really loved being pregnant! So scary (and a little sad) to think that soon enough, I'll have a little person on the outise to be responsible for! The first two tri's have just FLOWN by!

How often are your appointments now? I had a regular appointment at 24 weeks, then the GTT at 26 weeks, and my next in 3 weeks after that. When do we start needing to go every two weeks? Or can I opt out of that, since everything has been (knock on wood!) uncomplicated and 'easy" so far?

{b}: I'm up to every 2 weeks now. My doctor's office starts that during the 3rd trimester no matter what.

I am every two weeks too.. I like going often- but with another child it is harder than it was to get myself there. They tell me to bring DS- but I don't.

it is 3 am and I am up. My head has been spinning with the lists of things to get done! I got up 30 mins ago to file paperwork! I am done- but that didn't ease my mind much.
I think I am going to enlist my SIL and mom to watch DS so I can hack into some big projects. What I really need is somone to watch DS and one to help. SIl has offered- but I feel guilty having to have someone else- esp her how is sooooo supermom.
I want to do things like clean out closets and move things around- not to mention big cleaning and then finally get a guy over here for some estimates on finishing projects that we started. I just need it done and time is flying by!
URGH!

Brenda thanks for the advice. I am now yogurt queen!

Aletheia Welcome back! Are you in your new house yet?

2Jacks I do the same thing... lay in bed making lists in my head. It makes me mad since I only have 3 mos left of uninterrupted sleep.

Things are fine here. Still having a few contractions, but the doc said it would take a bit before the antibiotic worked. Man, flagyll tastes terrible!

DH and I went to Ikea this morning and bought a poang chair for the nursery. It is so comfy! Plus, I ate two ikea cinnamon rolls! Course, now I have a sugar rush. Boy, I had better of passed that GTT!

classes I am registered for a birth class (lamaze) that is 2 days each 4 hours. I think its at the end of July. I would recommend signing up soon, because in our area they fill up pretty fast.

drs appts I'm still at every 4wks. I have an appt this week, then one the middle of July. So I'll be 31 or so weeks when I switch to every two week appts.

Man, the weekend is almost over... :(

I have to do the GTT test this week too, but I hope the place will let me get the drink ahead of time (trust me, they do not want my monkey girl in their waiting room for an hour, nor do I! Let's just say DD is All.over.the.place!)

Wow, Spencer's girl ~ You look great.
I have to go for my 1 hour GTT this morning. Then I have to go up to the maternity ward to get my rhogham shot. I am not looking forward to that. That thing hurts!!!
Things are good here. I'm getting really uncomfortable and it's getting harder and harder to eat a decent meal. There's just no room left. I've also been getting a lot of braxton hicks contractions. I didn't have them with my 1st pg. They can be painful. When I had my 1st one I knew what it was and I had an aha!! moment. I remembered what labor felt like. Up until that point I had forgotten.
Off to the hospital for my test.....

Classes We're signed up for a Childbirth and Infant care class starting July 30th. It's 4 hours on 3 Sundays in a row. We also signed up for Breastfeeding 101 which comes free with the Childbirth class, we'll be doing that August 27th.

Appointments After my next appointment (at 28 weeks, when I have my GTT), we'll be going every 2 weeks. I think that's pretty standard in the 3rd trimester... not very helpful with my work schedule, though!

We reigstered at BRU this weekend! It was fun and exciting, I HIGHLY recommend taking Baby Bargains with you. It helped us decide between a lot of different brands, pick out what we really needed, and and just gave us good advice. However, we only got through about half of the store, still haven't done any bedding, basic layette stuff, or toys. So it'll be a two-parter for next weekend, I think. Still, it was a lot of fun!

I'm still feeling good, but after being back at work a week, I've noticed that I can't recognize my feet at the end of the day. They get so swollen and puffy from me sitting at my desk all day, that my shoes don't fit and my feet actually hurt from being so swollen. I've been trying to elevate my feet and get up and walk around a lot more, (because when I'm on my feet all day, feet and ankles look perfectly normal) but I can only do so much. It sucks.

Of course, I'm starting to feel a bit more ungainly and large, and my back's been bothering me more. And I have a couple of lovely stretch marks very low on my belly that showed up over the weekend. I think the 2nd trimester honeymoon is ending, quickly!

Here are a couple of overdue belly shots, from way back when, then last night:

Appts. - I have been on 2 week appts. since mid-May.

suiej~ I am swelling a lot, too. Do you ever feel hot at work? I ask because this weekend I was at a friend's baby shower and I also spent a lot of time at my parents' house and at both houses they keep the air warmer than we do at our house. I swelled up from being at those houses because I was so hot. Maybe it was just a coincidence, but I think the temp contributed to my increased swelling. If you are hot at work, maybe you could keep a small fan at your desk? Just a thought.

We went to the doctor this morning. No wonder I have been having back pain and belly button pain. He has totally moved around in there. He is now on my right side and face up. His feet are right above my belly button and his back is against my back. Dr. G says that is why I have been experiencing low back pain lately. So, we need him to roll over, but there is plenty of time for that. He also said that I am on track to gain around 40 lbs total, so he wanted to warn me of that so that I would go ahead and accept it now. He knows me pretty well. ;)

I'm having godawful heartburn lately. And water seems to only make it worse. Consequently, I KNOW I'm not drinking enough water. But damn it, it HURTS. Right now I desperately want a milkshake. Too bad I'm stuck at my desk.

Re: swelling - I had pretty bad swelling the last month of my last pregnancy, but I've been having problems with my feet and ankles for about two weeks now... and I'm not quite 25 weeks yet. Not good. As it is, I've only got two pairs of shoes that fit, and only one is work appropriate. Ack.

For other foot/ankle swelling ladies - if you have to sit at a desk all day, see if you can get a stool under your desk, or turn over a xerox box or a trash can or something, and put your feet up - it really does seem to make a difference for me.

I'm also getting to the point where I wake up 3-4 times a night to pee. I seem to remember this ALSO being later in pregnancy last time. Oh well, guess everything is coming faster than I expected - let's just hope labor is faster too this time! ;-)

OK ~ You can take Zantac 75. I have to take it twice a day or I will feel like I"m having a heart attack. A few of my friends who are pg are the same way and their ob's all ok'd the zantac.
I haven't had any swelling yet. I didn't puff up until the very end last time.

well my appt on friday was terrible! The Dr. was mean, and he made me cry. First off, he walks in and says "so how much weight did you gain with your other two pregnancys?" Uh well I dont really remember it was 13 and 15 YEARS AGO!!!! then he says I am gaining too much weight, because I had gained 7 instead of 4 pounds this month. I asked if having my appt at the begining of the day (first appt of the day in fact at 8:20 am) VS. the end of the day (last appt of the day at 4:20 pm) could have any bearing on my weight, and he addimantly (sp) says "NO" WELL THATS A LIE BUDDY! any gal who has EVER been on a diet knows you weigh less in the morning than in the evening, you havent eaten all your daily food or drank your daily water! you can weigh up to 10 lbs. different from one to the other! Then they take my BP, its HIGH and he doesnt even blink.. HELLO!!! 146 over 70 is NOT normal!!!! Then he starts to go into scare tactics with me about having to have a C-section because I had one 13 years ago. He asked if it was a Transverse or Classic, again I really dont remember, so he says "did they tell you that you could have a Vbirth ever again? I said nope but they didnt tell my I couldnt either. So he askes where the baby was born, I tell him UCI Medical Ctr. in CA. and he looks at me and says UCwhat? OMG!!!! WHO DOESNT KNOW WHAT UCI IS!!! UNIVERISTY OF CALIFORNIA BUDDY! So then he tells me that we prob. wont get my records because its so long ago and that no one in thier right mind would allow me to try a Vbirth without them. I tell him I would be suprised if they didnt have them on record because it was a trouble case with muliple problems and its a teaching facility. He scoffs at me... GRRR So then I ask him what the percentages are, and he glares at me, I say, I would like some numbers so I can weigh the pros and cons and the threat of problems... he says without blinking oh a tranverse is a 1 % likely hood of Uterine Rupture, and a Classic is 20, 30, 40 % chance... So I just shut up, and knew I would go home and look into it myself. The only percentage I could find of likely rupture with a classic was 10% (thanks Dr. Spock) which also informed me that if in fact I have a classic, then I could rupture prior to ever going into labor, and that the Dr's would prob. want to do a Csect. between 36 and 29 weeks to try and lesson the risk. Now why couldnt Dr. buttface give me some info I could chew on like that HMMMMM???? Needless to say I will NOT be talking to that Dr. again! Oh and I called and have made an appt to have my BP checked tomorrow on my own just to be safe, as it is a worry dont you think? Hopefully UCI will prove me right and have my records still, does anyone know how long hospitals usually keep medical records?

rosegarden yuck! that's kinda weird that your dr is just now addressing these things. hopefully you can get your records from uci, or at least get in contact with your ob at the time and see what type of incision he was most likely doing at that time. i could be talking out of my ass, but i think you can only have a vbac if you've had a transverse incision and even still a lot of dr's don't like to do them. there has to be some good info on the web somewhere, maybe post something on the parenting board or do a search for a vbac thread, i know there was one somewhere.

27 Weeks Last week was a wonderful week. Friday night and Saturday morning I helped with Relay for Life and our overall collection for our county was over $77000. Which is pretty good because we are smaller then some other counties around our area. My doctor called me on Thursday and said they hadn't gotten my operative report from my old doctor and wanted to know what they should do. They said they have no report I was ever a patient of hers. What did you say?? You saw me the entire time I was pg with DD and then after and you are saying you never saw me. They told my Dr that is possible that they only delivered her not saw me. I think that she is trying to cover her butt. Because I do believe it is a law that medical records are kept for 7 years after the date and I was a patient of hers in 2004 the math to that tells me that is only two years. So we have more years in there to keep it. My dr messed up when I was pregnant with DD and let me go into labor and my DD was breech. I labored for almost 12 hours before the nurse who checked me when I said I felt like I had to poop said I think your baby has a problem. They got an US machine in there to find out she was completely breech and I was taken into an emergency C-Section. My dr didn't even come into check on me until 1 oclock the next day. That was over 24 hours after I had her. She had broke my bag of water when I was at the hospital and poked my DD in the bottom and made her bleed. So I have a lot of bottled up anger towards her. So I am still on the hunt with the hospital to see if they have my operative report. I don't really need anymore stress.

Rosegarden - Ok...I am extremly ignorant on the subject...what is the difference between a transverse incision and a classic incision? I am assuming that the transverse is a bikini cut and the classic is a verticle incision? I had a verticle incision during my fibroid surgury in Jan. 2005...my doctor doesn't want to even consider a vaginal birth for me. Which I really don't mind at all to be honest with you...she said she wants to deliver me sometime between week 37 and 38. But my sister had a C-section (Bikini cut) with her first baby and had a vaginal birth (100% natural) with her second baby...and she was fine.

Rosegarden~~I am so sorry that you have such a crummy doctor in your practice. I have one in mine too that I CANNOT STAND...He actually told me that my blood pressure staying around 145/93 was "fine" and that he didn't understand why they had me on "limited activity" so I returned to regular activity and yeah, well, my blood pressure shot up to 165/98, so the next doctor put me on meds. I am so not scheduling another appointment with that doctor ever again. Everytime I see him, he just acts as if everything is just fine in this pregnancy, when with my last one, he treated me like I didn't know anything.

alliesmom~~ That stinks about your doctor trying to cover their butt. Someone should still have records somewhere of you. I think that is total crud that they aren't cooperating.

From listening to your stories, it makes me so happy that I only have to see MY doctor! I don't see anybody else in her practice...just her. And if for some reason I end up having to be delivered by some other doctor, I have heard nothing but good things about the two other doctors in my doctor's office.

RosegardenC
06-13-2006, 08:21 AM
Thanks everyone for your support. That Doc is just a total ass! I actually switched offices yesterday to go to one more associated with the hospital I will be delivering at, so that means there is no way I have to see him again.

Craftgenius, the difference is this, a low transverse is a low horizontal cut, the Classis is a vertical cut. As I understand it, you could have a bikini cut (as I do) on the outside and yet still have a vertical cut on the inside.

Yes it is pretty LAME that this is the first I have heard that I may not be able to have a vbirth and that it took them this long to even have me sign the request form for my records!!!! I spoke to UCI records yesterday and my records are not active in the computer anymore (the guy was SO nice, he searched and was actually going to tell me over the phone what type of csection I had if he could find them) so now I have to wait for Kaiser to send in the request and then they will pull my charts and copy and send them, as they will still have my charts in storage.. YAY! Fingers crossed they can find them! I would be really bummed if in fact I have a transverse and we couldnt find out and so they just did another c section, its really important to me for some reason to at least try to have this baby naturally again..... I guess because I did the first one all by myself,, and this time I would have a loving helpful spouse and my mommy with me....

rosegarden have you seen this site yet? http://www.ican-online.org/. hopefully you do have a transverse, have you talked to the new doc about doing a vbac with a transverse? apparently finding a hospital/doc to even do that can be difficult. i hope kaiser can get your records fast, they can be really lame. my dh has kaiser and is going through some health problems right now and isn't getting anywhere with them.

Rosegarden- Good grief. Don't listen to your doctor about weight! I know it is hard-- but if you feel good about what you are eating and how much you are eating, then your body knows what it is doing. That's my belief, anyway. The last thing you need right now is to be limiting the amount of nutrition your baby is getting-- this is the trimester where it finally gets to put on some baby fat and is growing very, very rapidly! Just don't eat junk. :)

Our New House-
We're hardly moved in, though we closed on May 17th. We've repainted every square inch except for the bathroom (doesn't need it immediately) and the kitchen (which we ripped out and are redoing.) It's been a long haul, and I'm antsy to have a kitchen sink and more furniture! (We sold all of our furniture before we moved.) But I've been watching Craigslist like a hawk and have gotten an Eddie Bauer bassinet, a My Breast Friend, a Kangaroo Korner fleece pouch, and other baby things... the nursery is starting to feel a bit like a nursery! We have a lot to do.

I'll post pictures once I decide where to upload them-- I'm unhappy with photobucket and want to try something else. Any recommendations?

_____________________________________________

Our baby shower invites are going out this week. I can't believe we are all getting so close to meeting our babies! Time is just flying by. And as time flies by, I get bigger by the minute. I am seriously embarrased to post my belly shot because I feel as if I am as big as some of the full term belly shots I have seen in the baby bellies thread :o Regardless, maybe I'll post my pic soon.

I have an OB appointment on Friday and I am expecting her to say I gained another 8 pounds :o :( I have gained about 21 so far so I know I will be hitting at least 30 pounds! I was hoping I would only gain 25 but at this rate, thats impossible.

Hope everyone is doing well. I am actually feeling ok, I have some back pain, but nothing unbearable, I do feel huge and uncomfortable but again its manageable. I almost feel guilty because this pregnancy hasn't been very hard on me, in fact, I am really enjoying it.

Take care everyone.

thanks for all the support I really do appreciate you all and getting to share this time with you as well! I started talking about what I could cut back on etc (food wise) at dinner last night and my DH got this grumbly look on his face and said I would do no such thing! I have monsterly big baby boys, and that doctor doesnt know me or my body! The things I have been allowing myself that I dont usually eat when not preggers is carbs, butter and Mayo. I dont eat fried foods they make me ill, I dont eat sweets, as I have no taste for them this pregnancy, I dont eat alot of carbs, but I dont NOT eat them. I have a smaller portion than any one else at the table, and focus on protien and vegi's. So what does he know?! I love my hunny! He is so good to me! He actually has been telling me that I have been loosing fat in other parts of my body (like the love handles) and I would guess I would have to agree, as I dont have as much to pinch as before. Now mind you Im a big girl to begin with and it took me a few months to even be okay with eating full meals and not just some dry toast and juice for brekky etc... as I had been changing my way of eating and exercise for the better to loose weight prior to getting PG.

I cant wait til my shower comes around, its still so far away it seems... how far in advance are you all sending out your invitations?

I am tired and huge. Some nights I have to sleep sitting up in order to stay comfortable.....I slept in the recliner the last month of my pregnancy with DS. So not ready for that yet. Great belly shots everyone!! We're all getting pretty big!

I had the 1 hour GTT today. They don't tell me the results, they will send them to my OB. Coincidentally, I won't see her again for about 6 weeks (July 24th) because she is going away on vacation. She has me scheduled to go for a blook pressure/ urine/ weight/ fetal heart check in about 3 weeks, just to make sure everything is good. I know everything is going well, since this little one is kicking the crap out of me, and I think I can SEE my belly growing every day.

She has me on 'restricted activity' for the next 4 weeks though, since I'm having so many contractions (B/H), and they are pretty strong. Since I was early with #1, she just wants to be cautious about pre-term labour.

I was 116 lbs at my appt. last Thursday, so that means I've gained about 21-22 lbs so far.

Sleep is still garbage.

One week of work left, and the students are writing finals now, so it's pretty relaxed there. I'm really looking froward to being done. I'm just so tired now, and so impatient with Claire when I get home. I'm looking forward to relaxing al summer, and hoping it goes by quickly. I soooooo dislike being preggo, I just cannot wait until this baby comes!

Dh is building a deck this weekend off the back of the house. I've been wanting one for 3 years now. I've reached the breaking point, as I refuse to spend this summer without somewhere nice to relax in the yard. So, a deck it is!! Let's hope the rain holds off, so he can get it done.

Off to bed I suppose!

Just stopping by to drop off my 26 week belly shot. I haven't been able to get online to CC for a couple of days. Been terribly busy, tired and computer trouble ... it all comes at once right.

Anyways, here is 26 weeks

I called the other doctors office and I am all set to see them from now on! YAY! My next appt is July 7th, and I will be taking my GTT then as well I actually slept really good last night, it was really hard to get up this morning, I just wanted to keep sleeping! Its been so hot this month record tying and breaking almost every day! UGH! So the AC's and fans were kept on all night, I think thats why I slept so good, it was really cool in my room. AHHHHHHH I cant sleep in the summer when its hot even when im not preggers, so I am soo running my ac in my room this summer!

the inlaws are coming to visit this weekend, hopefully it will be a little cooler, they are saying it will be down to mid to upper 80's, and to think that actually sounds good! OMG!! I guess you can tell how hot it really is here (Denver) right now.... They want to take us all to the zoo or six flags or something....

I just scheduled my 4-D ultrasound for July 1!!! I’m so excited!! In two weeks I’ll get a glimpse at what my baby sorta looks like!!! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!! I am having it done on a Saturday so DH and I won't have to take anymore time off work. YIPPEE!!!

Question, have you ladies been periodically getting this tight feeling in your stomach. My stomach gets real tight and it sorta feels like my skin in stretching from it growing or something. It'll feel like that for several hours and sometimes if I put lotion on my stomach (this cream I bought called "Mother's Friend"), it will relieve the tightness. This isn't Braxton Hicks is it???

dawny just curious, about how many b/h would you say you have per day?

i was at the hospital last night being monitored until 1 am. i've had tons of pressure lately and feel like i can only be on my feet for about 1/2 hr before i need to lay down and it's really hard to walk at the end of the day. i called my ob to get checked and he was out of town, so they sent me to l+d. i really didn't want to look like a hypochondriac freak, but with the pressure and frequent b/h, i thought it would be best. i had a few contractions when i got there and they gave me a terbutaline shot (that stuff sucks!), they also did a fetal-fibronectin test to see if i would be going into labor in the next 2 weeks, it was negative and i got to go home. i think i just need to take it much easier this time than i did when pg with dd.

dana b I'd say that I notice anywhere between 10-15 per day. That's just an approximation. I remember having a lot of tightenings with #1 as well, but they weren't nearly as strong as these. With most of the ones I have now, I have to stop what I'm doing and wait for it to pass. Glad to hear that the test came up negative. I'm definately more tired with this pregnancy as well, and would never be able to stand for 1/2 hour. I guess we just need to rest more.

craftgenius ~ They don't sound like B/H, since they should ony last for about 30 seconds.

I'm all alone tonight. DH is out of town, and Claire wanted to stay at MIL's for the night. So, it's just me and the dog. I think I'll go to bed early, since I woke up at 5 this morning, because I was so uncomfortable. Sleeping is becoming a real issue!

Add me to the list of having b/h. I never had them with DS #1 but with this one I seem to have a few of them a day.
Everything is fine here. DS#1 is getting the potty training thing down. You don't know how happy that makes me feel!!! He's been underwear for 2 days now:D I really didn't want to have 2 in diapers and I think we may just make it!!

Well I called the Dr today because started around 1030 last night I started having some serious pains in my ovary area that went through to my back and it was beginning to concern me because there was no relief. So they said well we should see you. I went into see them and they said it sounds like some pulling from where I had DD via csection and all that tissue i just stretching. THey checked me and I am not dilating at all so that is good news. I already where a support belt but now they said I might need to purchase a support girdle. I just wanted to make sure I didn't have a UTI or anything like that but her little heart is beating away. But she told me unfortunately this is something I am going to experience for the remainder of my pregnancy. She also told me that when my results came back from my GTT test and my anemia test my iron was a little low so I need to get on some iron fortifiers I think is what she said. She said it was a 31.4 and it should be a 32 so I guess I will start taking the samples she gave me until I go see my regular OB/GYN in July. THis was the midwife and it helped to just relieve my concerns. Here is a picture of me at 24 weeks I think it was.

Hey ladies! I'm back from my crazy week. I packed up the house this weekend, went through graduation on Sunday, and moved on Monday! The new house is looking good with all but one box unpacked on the main two floors. The basement and garage are still complete chaos, but I can live with that. The old house is clean and just waiting for someone to make us an offer. We have our first Bradley class on Sunday and DH starts his new job on Monday so things aren't expected to calm down for a while.

Yesterday my boss approached me about going to Europe for some meetings in mid to late July. United accepts passengers flying for the first 8 months into their pregnancy, and I will only be at 30-32 weeks so it should be fine. Just so long as I get an aisle seat since I will be getting up to pee every hour!

I'm feeling pretty good for the most part. I am handling the heat of summer much better than I expected. Sleeping for the last few nights has not been an issue because I am so exhausted from everything going on. I haven't even been waking up to pee! I did have some strong lower back pain yesterday and was going to schedule a massage to try to help with it, but it is feeling better today so I may hold off until I really need a massage later on in the pregnancy.

QOTD What is everyone doing for their DH's for fathers day?

Hopefully I can catch up more on what is going on with everyone this weekend. Until then, have a great day!!

Another week gone by!!! Just 10 more weeks until my scheduled C-section!!!

I had a doctor's appt this morning...the good news is I PASSED MY 3-HR GLUCOSE TEST!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!! I am SO HAPPY! I did NOT want to be put on a diet or insulin! My doctor did tell me however that I was a little high on one of the portions of the test, so she wants me seriously cut back on the sweets I eat...so no more ice cream everyday!! Plus she told me to switch to wheat bread and brown rice. I can live with that as long as I don't have to cut it out all together! As I type I am eating a chick-fil-a chicken sandwich on wheat bread. Yum! The baby's heart beat was 150 bpm, blood pressure was good and I'm measuring right on schedule. So I am a happy camper!

GTT test - well that was an experience!! I had to bring DD with me, and she is a little hyper one (15 months and an avid climber). What a lllooonnnggg hour that was! They told me to "take it easy" there in the waiting room (this is a lab that won't let you leave, let alone take the drink home with you for later.) HA! I was running around chasing DD the whole time. I needed a nap when we got home! LOL!! I really hope I pass, not sure I could handle the 3 hour test...YIKES!!!

Congratulations on passing your 3 hr GTT.I passed mine too, but was so stressed out waiting for the results. Like you, one of my numbers was a little high(2hr was 156, but they wanted a 155).My doctor said he wanted me to go for yet more lab work as a result but I told him no. Enough is enough!

Dorothy- Alli is officially potty trained now but it was a long, hard road. I'll be sending Aiden lots of good vibes.

craft- congrats! The brown rice & breads is part of the whole diet so it will absolutly help keep your numbers in check.

I had the 3 hour GTT yesterday. For some reason it was so much easier this time around. I have pretty much resigned myself to having to do the diet either way.

QOTD: My DH got a pressure washer:) That is what he wanted & we got it last week to use before DDs birthday party. Once you have kids all gifts become practical (I got a new stroller for Mothers day & we got shrubs to landscape our new patio for our anniersary, not to mention the sweet new coffee & side table we got each other for Christmas).

Craft ~ congrats on passing your test. I'm hoping to get my results today.
Father's Day ~ Like Joann said, once you have kids all gifts become practical. He went to Home Depot to buy all kinds of supplies that he needs to paint the back of the house, pressure washer, paint, etc. Our house is under major remodel right now (we bought a foreclosure that sat vacant for 2 years) and right now it's the master bedroom that is being worked on. Hopefully it'll get done before the baby is here.
We're just going to bbq on Sunday. My dad is coming over as well. It should be nice, but very HOT. It's going up to 94. I really need to get a maternity bathing suit...
Question ~ Where did you get your swimsuit if you've bought one? I don't want to pay over $50 if I don't have to.

I'm a little confused though. Do you think it comes with the skirt bottom? On the website it just says halter tankini. That makes me think that it does but I"m not too sure.
I got my 1 hour GTT test. I barely passed. My score was 139. Cutoff is 140. My dr said that he would send me to the 3 hour test. I told him not to bother. I'm going to change the way I eat. I'm going to really try and eat healthier and leave the junk alone. He wasn't too concerned because I did pass. I'm happy I did pass. Now I'm just nervous.
My ds's bday party is next Sunday so we're getting all the stuff ready for the party. That is stressfull. It's blazing hot here as well. Gah, the heat is getting to me.
Have a great weekend everyone.

I tried on this bathing suit this weekend. I think you can buy the bottoms seperate because they had regular bottoms and then the skirt was just a skirt (no hidden bottoms underneath). I think the one I tried on was cut wrong because I couldn't get it to fit... it was huge in the boob area (meaning, the width was way off) and when I went down a size, it was too small.

Hi Girls,
I haven't been around much this week because we have been insanly busy with work and baseball. Then yesterday when I finally get a minute to catch up I find out my laptop has gone south ... will need to replace some parts this weekend ... grr!!

Anyways, I am doing great! Feeling great, except the RLP is starting to kick in real good. Making me pretty uncomfortable at times but like I have said before I will take that anytime if that is the only "side effect" to PGcy I have to deal with.

Alethia you rock girl. I will update the IDs sometime this weekend. I thankfully managed to back them all up before my laptop gave out on me.

Fathers Day we aren't doing anything. We didn't do anything for Mothers Day either as we don't want to jinx it.

Back from our follow-up U/S... She looked perfect. Baby looks fine, amniotic fluid looks fine... but she (and it's definitely a she!) is measuring about a week ahead at this point, since my other u/s have been right on target. So... they're passing the info onto my doc and I guess I'll know more after the GTT a week from Monday.

Hopefully I don't have GD, but I guess we'll find out, as that would tell us the reason why she's measuring ahead. It could make sense, as there is a history of it in my family.. but there's also a history of big babies!

We did get to see some cheeks that are looking chubbier and she kicked right where the u/s doctor was using the wand!

No news is good news on the GTT, right? I took it last Thursday and haven't heard anything. Meant to call today, but ran out of time/forgot.

Signed up for a childbirth class today! First real baby thing I've done so far!

Feeling pretty good! Some restless leg nights, but overall, pretty smooth sailing. I get a really, really tight belly for several minutes at a time, not at all painful - feels like baby is doing that yoga pose where you're on hands and feet and arch your back toward the ceiling (or in this case, toward my bellybutton). I really think that's just baby stretching, no?

Laid on the couch after dinner last night, watching my belly move - lots of kicks and punchs and rolling. DH said he could see it from across the room. Kind of disappointed he didn't want to come see it closer/feel it - poker and his stupid chat room took precence. :(

Got DH a card for Father's Day, and a big bag of Sour Patch Kids, his favorites (if he doesn't find them first).

Tried to start an online baby registry the other night when I had down time at work - but was TOTALLY overwhelmed very quickly. We need to go to BRU with the Baby Bargains book, I think.

Hey all. I had an OB appointment on Friday... and instead of measuring 25 weeks (which I was, on the nose) I'm measuring a little over 30. Yipes. And since DS1 was so big, and second children tend to be larger than 1st kids, and DS was born at 38w3d, well, the OB pretty much said I can expect to go no further than 38 weeks. If he doesn't come early on his own we'll be helping him out. I had a very difficult time delivering Alex and, if a second child is much larger I would likely need a c-section so here's hoping he's not actually larger.

Other than that, and more weight gain than I'd like to see, the appointment was fine. I got my orange drink to have at my next appointment (in 3 weeks) and that's that. I failed the one hour but passed the three hour test last time, and I'm expecting similar results if not actually failing the three hour test.

Mommy2AlliWill - do you happen to have a link to the GD diet online? Or would you mind sharing some basics? I figure it can't hurt to start eating healthier, so I might as well try now, maybe it will help keep this baby's growth to a more normal standard.

We had a nice father's day. I gave DH some cards and pictures of DS for his office. DS "gave" DH three Curious George books. They read together when they rock every night and I knew that DS had been pointing out a few specific books (the cover of a Curious George book he owns has pictures of many of the other covers) so I bought those for them to share together. Other than that, nothing much.

Someone asked about a maternity bathing suit - I got mine (a teal two piece tankini) from Target. I really like the color and it's very flattering, I just wish the boob cup area were larger, I worry about the girls falling out.

Hello all- I have a question.

I'd love to share some healthy, protein rich snack ideas. I'm running low. I never thought I'd say this, but I am so tired of eating! Sometimes I get hungry and I just try to ignore it because I don't want to go make something else AGAIN. I don't like to spend all day eating prepackaged foods, since that doesn't seem too healthy. So what are your favorite snacks? :) Help me!

{b}
06-19-2006, 09:29 AM
A handful of cashews or almonds
String cheese
Apple sauce snack sized cup
Fruit cups in the snack pack
Toast with peanut butter
Apple, banana, other fruit

RosegardenC
06-19-2006, 09:55 AM
Alethia, my favorite is a banana and peanut butter. I take it with me to work by just putting a couple Tbs. of peanut butter in a snack sized ziplock and then when I am ready to eat it, I cut the tip of the bag out and put it on the banana per bite, its like using a frosting bag, and it makes it much easier. Besides the potasium(sp) in the bananas helps with leg cramps and restless legs!

mommy2AlliWill

28 weeks, 1 day

Dorothy- I got my bathing suit at Target too. Basic black tankini.

Kate- It is all about carb counting & eating smaller things every few hours. As an example I could have:

7:00, 45 carbs
9:30, 30 carbs
12:00, 45 carbs
2:30, 30 carbs
5:30, 45 carbs
8:00, 30 carbs

Avoiding all sweets, white starches, no fruit if any kind, no fruit mixed in, like bagel or yogurt before noon. With all the low carb options out there now it isn't really too hard. I had to take my blood sugars 4xs a day (1st thing in the morning & 2 hours after the 45 carb meals), I found that if I was going to be exercising at night I could eat way more than 45 carbs & still keep my blood sugar in check too. HTH.

Aletheia, how about a small bagel (not one of the monster size ones they make now) with peanut butter.

I have my third Level II ultrasound tomorrow, prayers please:)

octoberkate
06-19-2006, 11:36 AM
Mommy2AlliWill - thanks! I can def. work on that. We already have knocked out white starches, and I have a sweet tooth that I'm perpetually working on... but the no fruit in the summer time will be really hard for me. Oh well. Thanks for taking the time to give me your sample guidelines, I really appreciate it!

How long did it take to get your GTT results back?

I had the test on the 8th, the Thursday before last. I hadn't heard anything yet, and instead of assuming no news is good news, I called today to make sure. They said it wasn't back yet. It's been over a week, so that seems strange to me?

mommy2AlliWill
06-19-2006, 02:19 PM
B- they called me within 3 or 4 days. When I didn't have it, with my ds, they waited until my next appointment to tell me.

Kate- I know, the no fruit is a killer. My kids love it to, so it isn't like I won't have it in the house either. The no fruit added before noon is hard too. I didn't relaize how much I enjoyed a blueberry bagel or raspberry yogurt for breakfast until you can't eat it.

Copied from my LJ

So the OB's office called & I technically don't have GD. 3 of the 4 numbers were close though. As predicted, my OB wants me to follow the diet & test my sugars for a few weeks &, as long as they are in range I can back off of it. I am going to call the diabetes center & sign up for a refresher on the diet. I know it won't make sense to most people, but I am not only okay, but proud of the borderline thing. Most people's number go up with each subsequent pregnancy & mine have been better. I account this to changing my diet & the exercise routine that I started last year and have continued (although modified) this entire pregnancy.

I had my 3rd ultrasound this morning. Fasolaki is doing great! His femurs measure 5 cm each. He is head down right now, though he moves a lot! The tech got some great profile shots for me to take home. In the third one, he's yawning! Takes after his mom. ;)

The placenta is now 2.75 cm away from the cervical os, which means that it's no longer considered a previa (2.5 cm is the cut-off). HOORAY! Although this is unofficial (the tech is obviously not a doctor and is not qualified to make an official diagnosis), it is good news that I hope to have confirmed at my appointment next Thursday.

Tomorrow is the 1 hour GTT.

Bought a few items this weekend: a pair of olive capri pants and a black stretch blouse from Old Navy, 2 skirts and 2 tops from Lane Bryant. Tried on maternity swim suits at ON, but even the XLs were too small in the bust area. I was too tired by the time I got to Tarjay to try on some there.

Re: suits with coverage - while I love the color, cut, and fit of my Target suit over the rest of my body, it leaves something to be desired when it comes to coverage of the boobs. I'm at D and a larger size person (XL, 16-18) and the coverage that's built into this suit just leaves a lot of real estate exposed. I mean, the nips are covered and all, but I don't particularly want all that much other boobage hanging out there. Oh well.

I feel like if I have not been around forever, I do take a couple of min. breaks a day and catch up with everybody, but it has been impossible to post around here, right now I am at work and swamped but decided I wanted to stop by and just give an update.

I had my 28week appointment last week, everything is looking good, I passed my glucose test which I kind of knew because they told me that they would call me 24hrs after I took it if I didn't… I didn't receive a call, so I imagine I passed. My visits are now every other week, my next appointments are for June 29th and July 14th. I am looking forward going next week, I have not seen my doctor since my 16 week appointment (I have been rotating).

We finally registered, I took care of that this weekend, I still feel like if I am missing lots of stuff but I guess I can just take care of those after the shower.

We are leaving for Key West the day after tomorrow, and let me tell you how excited I am! Work is been hell lately, and the heat, getting ready and all that I just feel like if I need this break more than anything. We will be gone for six days (I can't wait!). We get back Monday 27th and then we head to Baltimore for the 4th of July weekend, I can't believe my shower is two weekends after I get back from Baltimore. This means that I am not sure how much access to CC I am going to have in the next couple of weeks (being in the office only 2-3 days a week is definitely not going to give me enough time to post and stuff, I promise I will try to check from home, I just drag my feet just to think about sitting in front of the computer after being all day long in front of one at work.

DH will paint the nursery the weekend before the shower, his mom and sister are coming down for the shower, so we couldn't get the nursery ready until after that (we currently have two guest rooms but the nursery is going to be one of those). After the shower we will call someone to come pick up the furniture and we will move the baby's furniture in… I can't believe this is moving so fast, feels like only yesterday I found out I was preggers.

Here are a couple of belly shots from last weekend (28w5d), I am definitely growing a belly now… about time specially when I am almost 30w ;).

Kate- I bought the same or similar suit & I couldn't agree more. Not enough support or square footage:) It gets the job done though & I was swimming on Sunday with no issues.

dionysia & LMC congrats on good appointments.

We had our third Level II today & it was fine. Baby looks healthy. No cysts or fluid on the brain, etc, etc. We go back for a follow up in 4 weeks. He or she is BIG though. They estimate 3 pounds 6 ounces so I know the GD diet is necessary since I already had one 9+ pounder:)

Next regular appointment is Thursday.

Nothing new to report for me. The trip to Europe for work is 90% confirmed, so I am doing research on how to make it as easy as possible. I figure that jet lag will probably be even more difficult when pregnant, so I will fly out on Saturday so I have a day to recover before starting meetings.

MIL wants to have someone throw us a shower. I'm not sure who will be hosting, but it should be fun. This will require us to register so we need to get started on that soon.

Still haven't scheduled the 1 hour GCT yet since my doctor's office is closed during my lunch hour and I never have time to call during regular hours. Next time I am going to bring my calendar into the appointment with me.

dionysia- Great news about Fasolaki! I love that he was yawning. My frijole keeps getting the hiccups; last night they were so strong they woke me up (not that it takes much these days.)

LMC- Hooray! No GD for you! You have enough to deal with.

I'm sort of jealous of you ladies and your swimsuit problem. I got excited that I'd get a chest. Well, so far I've put on THIRTY FREAKIN POUNDS and only last week did my A cup bra start to feel a bit tight (or was it my imagination?) I'd been wearing stretchy sweat pants for the drive across the country, the moving in, the painting, the kitchen remodeling etc., and so had NO idea where the extra pounds were going (tummy ain't too big, though needless to say it is bigger than babywish's!) until... I put on dress slacks to go out to dinner last week. I guess I should have been checking behind me. That's where those pounds went.  My bradley instructor says "don't think of it as fat! think of it as the breastmilk storage area!" Yeah, well, I wish I was storing breastmilk in my BREASTS.

[/rant]

I have a question-- is anyone doing an internet shower? It sounds a bit cheesy to me, but as I just moved to a new town and know very few folks, my mom and mom-in-law are intent on throwing a web-based shower somehow. I'm afraid.

Besides the potasium(sp) in the bananas helps with leg cramps and restless legs!

Man am I glad I read this! Bananas never came to mind.

I got horrific cramps in my left leg saturday. I was swelling in the heat and walking a lot but then by dinner I thought I would cry. I had cramps from calf to thigh ( the rear only) and could barely even sleep.
I am still sore and on the verge of a cramp today. I have to be careful to not point my toes on that foot. This is not what I got last pg at all and it is no fun!

We are getting ready for our camping trip tomorrow and there seems so much to do still. I work today a long day and tomorrow we leave right after work. EW!

Have fun on your camping trip!

I slept much better last night than I did Sunday night. It was cooler and there was a bit of a breeze. I also think that the body pillow I'm using helps. My cat Jill slept on my head again.

I had my 1 hour GTT this morning. It took longer than anticipated, since I had to go to the main lab of the hospital, which is more crowded and requires going to the general patient registration area, instead of the smaller lab in the wing where my OB's office is. Oh well.

The "glucola" tasted like flat, sweet orange soda. Not as gross as others have said. I did get a little oogy about 1/2 hour after I had drunk the solution, mostly lightheaded. I stopped reading for a little bit and I felt better.

Reading babywish's post, I'm wondering when do the OB appts go from every 4 weeks to every 2? Week 28? 29?

Got woken up by the worst leg cramp in my left calf this morning. Ouch. DH didn't help any, telling me I should be more hydrated. Thanks, dear, for telling me that while I'm crying and doubled over in pain. Very helpful. Just what I wanted to hear.

I knew it was coming, though, I'd been feeling pre-charley-horse all night, kept flexing my feet. Fell asleep in one position for too long, I guess!

Got a preview of what life will be like with a toddler today. My MIL watches our 3-year-old niece, and they came over for the afternoon. Now, I know the kid was tired, and excited to be at our house, and a little wild because it was out of the routine. But, DH and MIL (whom she sends more time with than her parents) were no help at all! At one point. they were in the kitchen with her, and neither one stopped her from going into the fridge, grabbing the practically full 2-gallon jug of cranberry juice and trying to pour herself a cup! I was in the other room and grabbed her! She was just all over the place today, and our house is no way baby/toddler proofed. Tools are sitting out all over the place and just in general lots of stuff for little hands to grab (we just moved in). I was not too pleased with DH for bringing them, and then not watching her at all!

{b} let's just cut off our left legs. They seem to be the issue!
Went tto eat a banana last night and it was mealy- never in my life have I had a mealy banana! When I felt the whole bunch the all felt liquidy inside- GROSS!

I have to get myself in the shower and go to work- I am starting today early and working through my lunch so I can leave at 2. I usually don't get that luxury since I see patients, but I had the office manager do some shuffling around and knock wood it worked!

It is storming here and Dh has to pack the camper still- I packed everything- but he has to physically put it in- we borrowed this camper and i picked it up yesterday and tried to verbally explain how to open it to him- let's hope it works.
Have good ends to all your weeks and weekend! I am off to shave the scary legs!

regarding <b>restless legs</b>, magnesium supplements are AMAZINGLY effective. i take two every night before bed and they help me relax a great deal.

after 10 sleepless nights due to the heat and humidity (despite having ac), i caved and took two tylenol PM the other night and went to bed early. i slept soundly for 11 hours and woke up feeling incredibly refreshed. my ob suggested doing this once in awhile with my last pregnancy and said i might want to start earlier this time since i have a toddler to chase!

update on me
I have been horribly busy in the last couple of weeks. Then Sunday my hip started to bother me. So I seen the chiro on Monday and have to go again today. I have a shooting pain in my right hip, which is now moving to my knee. Making it hard to walk and move in general.

update Mommy IDs
I hope to update the Mommy IDs tonight as I finally have a spare evening. Sorry it has taken me so long.

{b} - Don't worry...when it is your toddler, it is VERY different! ;)

Shocker, I passed the GTT test! I think I saw the number 77 on there? Not sure if that is right, but I passed! I was going to probably skip the 3 hour test and go straight to the diet if I didn't (taking DD to the 1 hour test was tiring enough!) A diet would have been much easier than the 3 hour test.

Dr. wanted me in in 3 weeks...I must be off a bit? So my next appt. is 7/10

And, unless the hospital can't accommodate it...looks like my CS is scheduled for Sept. 7th.

Koala girl - Congrats on passing the 1 hour test. I took the 3 hr test and it actually wasn't too bad. I took a good book with me to keep me occupied. I wish my doctor would go ahead and schedule my c-section! Sept. 7 is my actual due date...but my c-section is supposed to be scheduled sometime between week 37 and 38...putting my actual delivery date between August 17th and 24th.

Leg problems - I've had a few leg cramps as well. I've never had a "charley house" so I wasn't sure what in the heck was going on. But when I was lying in bed, suddenly my leg (behind my knee) caught this horrible pain and it hurt like H#%@ to stretch out my leg. It was only for a minute, and as I moved it, the leg felt much better. This happened to me twice in the past couple of months. Is this the kind of problem some of you ladies have been experiencing?

I would actually LOVE to sit there for 3 hours to take the test...but I don't have anyone to watch DD during the day. That is the part that would be crazy (she does NOT sit still!) She spent the 1 hour test climbing onto her stroller, onto the chairs, running around the office, etc. I had to take a nap when I got home. ;)

Hey ladies!

Nothing new here. Starting to feel pretty cumbersome, but oh well. DH left for a meeting this morning and will be gone for a week. Boy, I am realizing that I'm getting needy! And I worry about him a lot. Guess this is pretty normal.

Alliesmomma I've been adding a spoonfull of wheat germ to my yogurt every day and this helps keep me pretty regular. Or smoothies (now that blueberries are in season!). Put some fruit (fresh or frozen) in a blender with some yogurt, some ice (if fruit is fresh), maybe a splash of milk, and wheat germ. Its yummy, cool, and does the job!

leg cramps yup. Still getting them.

QOTD has anyone else been reading some of the BFing threads in parenting? They are starting to scare the crap out of me! Is there anything you need to do to prepare? (mentally and physically?) I must admit that I have always been a bit creeped out by bfing (don't really know why) and now that I'm actually going to try it, I get kind of scared. Anyone else ever feel like this? Boy, it sure doesn't sound easy... Oh, and if someone can recommend a book (something not too preachy or scary) I'd appreciate it. Anyone ever read "so that's what they're for?"

Take care everyone!

QOTD: As far as breastfeeding goes, I honestly say just go with what feels natural. I didn't read a single breastfeeding book and had a very successful relationship with my daughter until she self-weaned at 15 months (because I was pregnant again.) You are probably nervous because you have heard the horror stories, but I never even had sore nipples, let alone any of the other stuff that you hear about. My daughter didn't bite me until she was telling me that she wanted to stop nursing all together.

Update on Me (copied from my LJ):
Well, I've been having some pretty bad contractions lately, not regular enough to mean ANYTHING, but enough to disrupt life. It is causing me to lose sleep and they are PAINFUL. I've even had some that I have had to stop what I'm doing and breathe through. I went through this with Timothy for weeks before he was born, so a part of me hopes that is the case so that this one can bake as long as possible, but the selfish part of me hopes that is not the case cause darn it, this hurts!

batgirl: i'm sorry that you're feeling anxious about breastfeeding but i totally understand. i felt the same way all the way through my pregnancy. i haven't read so that's what they're for, but i've heard great things about it. what about popping into the breastfeeding thread and asking marisa for a book recommendation?

as far as preparing physically, there's really not much you can do that i know of. as far as preparing emotionally, what helped me tremendously was setting a goal. it was pretty uncomfortable for the first couple of weeks, so i set a goal of nursing until rachel was 6 weeks old. i wrote it down and listed all of the reasons why i wanted to nurse that long, including all of the health benefits. seeing that list so many times a day (i re-read it at every feeding) really helped me get through that. at about 5 weeks, i was determined to make it until 6 weeks and then i planned on stopping because i was so uncomfortable. but by six weeks, something had clicked and we had figured it out and it wasn't painful anymore. i'm so glad that i stuck it out but i don't know that i would have been able to do so without setting that goal and listing my reasons.

i hope this helps. :)

Constipation - Spinach, and lots of it.

Breastfeeding - I have read So that's what they're for! and found it very helpful. There's a ton of info in there. You may also want to check out The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding from La Leche League. I haven't read it yet, but it's supposed to be quite good (consider the source).

28 weeks 4 days

I read "so thats what they're for" & took a breastfeeding class. More helpful then both of those were just the nurses in the hospital after baby arrived, they helped a ton. I find the first weeks of breastfeeding very had as my nipples do crack & bleed so it is very painful. Then I switched to pumping while they healed & that was so much better. You have to find what works for you & with lactation consultants available there is so much help out there, for free.

I just got back from the doctor, had to take both kids (never again). All was fine with baby & doctor is planning to schedule my c-section for Tuesday, September 5 at 8 am.

Thank you girls. I will try some of these.

Also wrt breastfeeding prep you might want to find some lansinoh cream (should be near other nursing supplies in a BRU, Target, Walmart etc) and start rubbing it in to your nipples now - I don't know if it made any difference, but it seems just to hydrate the skin more (like regular lotion) which I read can help prevent cracking later on. Again, no idea if it does help, but it can't hurt.

Also I wanted to second deliciousjones' recommendation about setting a short term goal. We had some serious problems with nursing - my son just refused to do it - so I decided I would pump. First I was only going to pump for six weeks. I thought about quitting many times because it was really difficult to find time to pump, clean the pump, and then feed and care for the baby when I had no one home to help me. But by the sixth week I was into a routine. Gradually my goal dates extended, and I ended up pumping for my sons entire first year. Don't get me wrong, it was a royal PITA, but I'm glad I made the effort.

Try not to let the scary stories, well, scare you. I think a lot of women don't hear that it isn't always easy so, when they have difficulties, they quickly get frustrated and give up. On the other hand, the difficulties certainly aren't there for every woman either. If bfing is something that you want to try, I think it's just best to go into it with the knowledge that it might be hard, and you might have some problems, but that for the vast majority of women who push through the first week or two, either the problems resolve themselves or you come up with a good solution that best fits your needs.

And if you DO have problems, or if you decide that bfing isn't the best choice for your family, it's important to know that's ok too - undoubtedly breastmilk provides advantages to babies that formula doesn't provide, no question about that. But sometimes there are other things that are important considerations in your choice regarding what's best for your family as well.

Feeling good these days, but I came home absolutely exhausted yesterday. I don't know if it's the heat or what, but I could barely keep my eyes open. I did a little better after a nap.

DH has now learned too keep the air conditioner cranked to keep me cool. Between that and lots of ice water, I haven't been too hot. How is everyone else faring in the summer heat?? I'd always heard that summer is the worst time to be big and pregnant. It figures our 3 biggest months are also the hottest!

I ordered bedding this week, too! I finally found what I was looking for at BabyGap (http://www.babygap.com), of all places. I was happy to see that I could buy pieces of it, instead of a whole set of stuff I didn't need. Got a the bumper, sheets, skirt, and quilt. I also go extra sheets to make my own valances from.

I have leg cramps ('charley horse') quite frequently and always in the middle of the night. It has got to be one of the worse ways to be woken up.

I used to have problems with constipation but found out it was caused by my prenatals. I changed the brand and nothing since.

The summer heat hasn't gotten the best of me yet. However, I will admit I am getting quite excited about getting a/c installed.

QOTD - I think the most important thing is to prepare mentally. I was committed to it, and while it may have been harder the first few weeks than formula feeding...the payoff came later.

Having a mini-goal is important. There were many times at 3am when DD still seemed hungry that I wanted to give up...but having that short term goal really helped me stick with it, "just a few more days." I ended up nursing DD until just after a year (mainly because I got PG again, but I think I was ready to wean anyway.)

Otherwise, I would say that it may be a bit painful for the first few weeks, but for me it got better after about the 2nd week. The next hard part is the nursing all day long feeling. But, by about 4 months, it was so darn easy. DD only took about 5 minutes to nurse, 10 tops. I never had to prepare anything, it was always just ready to go. (Of course there are the health benefits, but the icing on the cake for me is that I am lazy.) ;)

Finally, like others have said...choosing to BF is a multi-variable equation. If it doesn't work out for you, nothing wrong with it & don't beat yourself up over it. We all have different priorities, and only you can make that decision. :)

Brenda and SuieJ: Love the bedding sets.

BFing prep: With DS, I went in with no expectations. If it worked out fine and if it didnt that would be okay too. DS and I had difficulties at first with correct latching but he absolutely refused the bottle and pacifiers so I had no choice but to keep trying to nurse.
Once the nurse provided some tips on latching and positioning (lots of touchy feely stuff) everything went great. I BF for 18mos.
My advice for those choosing to BF for the first time is "Patience". This is a new experience for you and DC so you are both learning what works for you.

I had a thought today and now am curious as to the answer. Do you wear underwear when you are in early labor in the hospital? Or are you completely naked under the hospital gown? It's probably a dumb question as I'm guessing they will be doing internal checks, but I just wondered if my butt would be hanging out as I walk around the hospital during early labor. I've never been a patient in a hospital, so I'm uneducated. :) Thanks!

I love the summer looking stuff, but find the materials are better in the fall / winter (DD currently has the Chamios Lambie from PBK, and I LOVE how soft it is.)

:) Thanks!

No undies! (At least that is how it was for me!)

Today is my last day of work for 14 months!!!!!!! :D  I feel really weird and excited. I almost have a guilty feeling, but don't quite know why, I mean, most everyone I know takes the full year of mat leave, I'm just lucky to have the summer off as well, since I'm a teacher.

I'm glad to be finished though. I'm so tired, I really would not have been able to work through this summer anyway. Contractions, heartburn, can't breathe - it it seriously uncomfortable.

Anyway, I just had to post that, as I'm sitting here feeling weird about finishing work for awhile. Off to get ready for my last day (report card day!!).

I am so envious of you ladies getting to pick out bedding and things! LOL

I think that is partially why we haven't settled on a name because that is the ONLY thing that we get to do with this baby. We will be using the same furniture that we used with our other two kids, the same bedding, except my MIL makes each of the kids a HUGE baby blanket that is actually a twin size quilt. We'll also just be passing down clothes from our son to this baby and just using the same carseat, stroller, etc. I guess the fun part is that my Daughter gets to get her "big girl" furniture so we can hand down the toddler stuff to our son to give the baby the crib, but that won't happen until Christmas. The baby will be in the bassinet and then the pack n' play until then. I like seeing what is out there though, so keep posting pics and I will live vicariously through all of you! :p ;)

twink, this is too funny! I wa thinking the same thing the other day.

Not knowing about the particularities of what is expected and asked of a laboring mom has been what I've been most anxious about this last week. The panties issue was right up there. What if I don't want my hiney hanging out until transition is over??? Sigh. Another random question to ask the midwife.

Dotsie
06-23-2006, 08:28 AM
As soon as you get there the nurse will hand you a gown and tell you to get naked!!! My nurse gave me an extra gown to cover my *hiney* if I wanted to walk around. By the time you get to l&d your modesty will have flown right out the window. I know I was so used to being examined by my dr's that when we got to the hospital I couldn't have cared less.
I too am jealous of all the first time mommies. It's such a wonderful feeling when you are becoming a mom for the first time. We're not getting too much at all for Conor. We have pretty much everything. We'll just have to get little things. Enjoy your last few months, it goes by sooo fast.

the gowns i wore sort of overlapped in the back (or in the front - you could wear them either way) so you could walk around without anything showing.

As far as BFing fear, I think it's REALLY, REALLY important to remember that the people coming into the BFing threads are the ones who are having problems and need advice. You NEVER hear from the vast majority of women who are doing just fine, nothing scary, nothing difficult, etc.

We have bought exactly NOTHING for baby so far. Getting nervous about that. DH's best friend's father is a partial owner in a baby chain, and he told DH the other day we still have plenty of time. I don't want DH to hear that! I want to get this stuff bought/ordered soon so I can start worrying about other things! LOL!

Is everyone all registered already? I tried online, but the BRU site is overwhelming, and I need to do some in-person comparisons, and I hear the BRU site is changing soon and ... UGH!

Alliesmom, I have NO IDEA what to do about the crib bedding! I cant find anything I even remotely like in the theme that DH change it to... I was all about moons and stars had it all picked out, worked with the room color perfectly and then WHAM, DH decides he wants to have some say in this stuff and he wants to change the theme to Jungle Animals, like a Rouseau painting type Jungle, and he wants to do a copy of a Rouseau painting mural on one wall. So the colors are very bright and vibrant, and there is NO Jungle bedding that isnt in muted tones except one set from California Kids, and I HATE IT! ARGH! So last night I was stressing about this and talking to DH about it and he says, why not white? OMG! I never even thought of that! That would work, and not clash, and Littlest dude (as the baby has been dubbed by bigger dude DS #1, Harrison) is getting two hand made quilts anyway so... White it is, so now I have to start looking again!

I wanted to second what {b} said as far as BF'ing goes. That thread is full of people who are having a rough time. Some of us have one or two hiccups the entire time, and the rest is a hugely satisfying, very rewarding experience. I BF'ed DS for 18 months with a few problems. It's great to have the support system offered in LLL or in the BF'ing thread--BF'ing is a natural thing, but it doesn't come naturally for everyone...having a support systems is crucial for some.

If you don't want your rear hanging out, bring a cheap robe with you that you don't mind possibly getting ruined. The hospital will probably be chilly, anyways.

Thanks for input on undies in the hospital, ladies.

I was actually cold sleeping last night! It was really weird. Poor DH must have been frigid if I was cold. He has been wearing a sweater around the house for the past couple days. :)

QOTD - Weekend Plans Anyone doing anything exciting this weekend? I'm trying to convince DH that we need to register, but he is not that into it yet.

craftgenius I had no idea they had bedding, either, but I vaguely recall looking at it forever ago when I was first looking around a baby stuff. I'm hoping it's good quality, there was another mom on the BabyBargains forum that said she thought it was good stuff.

Bedding I'm still unsure of the bedding decision I made! I feel like I looked "everywhere" and never found one that said "yup, this is it." (Ok, I did, but it actually wasn't it, because I wasn't about to spend $700 on it!) I think it was just that strong nesting instinct that I need to have everything in the house "perfect" before the baby comes. (Also the reason why I'm having DH scrub and re-caulk our shower this weekend!)

Honestly, I figure I won't be using the bumper pads all that much, the quilt is useless except to look pretty, she'll really just need a crib sheet. And we're probably going to use the ultimate crib sheets we registered for anyway.

So, don't fret if you haven't made a decision or gotten anything yet, decorative crib bedding is pretty low on the list of actual "needs" for a baby!

QOTD We are going to Niagara Falls over night and then picking up our crib on Saturday. Attending a MLB game and Sunday I am hanging out with a GF at a beautiful mansion/park where hopefully we will do some amature maternity shots. Busy weekend but lots of fun.

We havn't registered yet. I think we will do this next weekend. I plan to put a list of things together and have my CC/LJ buddies critique it and find out what worked for them and more importantly what did not.

Hospital - underwear
I was thinking the same thing. I think our hospital has those gowns, which overlap at the back also but I figured there would be no underwear once we got to the hospital. I will definitely be bringing a robe as I am always cold and I'm sure the gown won't do much to keep me warm.

BF'ing I think no matter where you look or ask for advise there will be negatives ... however, from all the women I have encountered they all say the positive makes up for any negatives 10-fold. I'm excited for it.

so true! i think i've only posted in that thread twice -- once when dd was just born and again when we had a nursing strike at 5 mos.

gowns i brought my own men's long v-neck t-shirts for labor. after dd was born, i changed into my own jammies and robe, i never wore the hospital gowns.

bru registries i don't know if they're gonna end up having their own site, but they're splitting from amazon and a lot of stuff is 'out of stock' online. something to keep in mind if a lot of your shower guests don't have a local bru.

think it was just that strong nesting instinct that I need to have everything in the house "perfect" before the baby comes.
this is so me right now! i'm so exhausted trying to get this house in order, i'm starting to realize that i just can't do everything i want to do before this baby comes.

rosegarden i love all white bedding, esp in a bright room. camdynlyn has some nice white bumpers.

Boy, thanks ladies for all of the wonderful input re: BFing! You've made me feel much more relaxed about it.

Everyone's bedding is beautiful! I purchased mine a few weeks ago, but since I have a crib but no crib mattress, I haven't put anything together yet.

Here's a picture of our bedding:

http://zoom.jcpenney.com//is/image/0900631b80d23dceM.tif?wid=250&hei=250&op_sharpen=1

Dh said he wanted either bugs or frogs so that limited my choices!

Twink I can honestly say I hadn't even thought of underwear at the hospital! But once you posted the question all I could think of was...what do you wear at the hospital???! I think I will definitely be taking a light robe just in case.

{b} I quickly set up a registry at babies r us last weekend. Honestly, the only reason I did was because my SIL said they mail fantastic coupons to you and the grandma you list. You should be able to set it up even though many of their items are listed as "not currently available". I got an e-mail from them that said all registeries made at their current site (thru amazon) will be automatically transfered to their new website in July.

As far as registering. My SIL (who has a 6mo old) helped me to set one up last weekend. My main registry is at Target, but I did sign up for a BRU one, too, for the coupons (see above). The only reason I got by butt in gear and did it was because of my MIL. She wants to throw us a shower and asked for dates. I told her end of July or early August. Well, its July 8th... We had to get it done in a hurry! Thank god for SIL. I was completely overwhelmed by meself.

Have a great weekend ladies. My DH is out of town so I'm going baby shopping this weekend with my mom! Finally getting that crib mattress!

Take care.

ETA: Dana b Where did you get your sling? I've decided to get one and am a bit overwhelmed by the choices. Anyone ever have a hotsling?... thanks.

06-23-2006, 01:26 PM
oh yeah, we had our hospital tour last week and i couldn't be more thrilled with our choice. we're not going to the same hospital as last time and i was specifically shopping around for a more progressive hospital. they don't use a nursery, all newborn procedures are done at my bedside (including bath) and they're big into skin-to-skin contact and nursing immediately after birth. the bonus is that the maternity floor was recently remodeled and i'll have my own shower in my post-partum room, yay! last time i had to walk down the hall everyday and use the community shower, yuck!

batgirl i'm actually still *trying* to buy the red sling from www.soulbabynyc.com. the girl who makes the slings is not taking orders, but just listing a few here and there through her yahoo group, i'll find out tonight if i get it. i like using a ring sling with a newborn, but they are all *mostly* the same and it doesn't matter too much where you get one as long it's not one of the ones bru carries. i have 3 hotslings and love them to death. if you get one, just make sure it fits on the snug side. i almost returned the first one i got b/c i thought it was too tight, but it turns out that it's comfier that way. kangaroo korner also makes good pouches, i'll probably get a fleece one for the winter. i also picked up a hug-a-bub (stretchy wrap) to use with the new baby.

Undies: I was also barebottom from the time I got there. But as Dotsie stated,By the time you get to l&d your modesty will have flown right out the window.
I love the idea for the long mens tees. I wonder if they will let me get away with that.

Baby gear: We don't live near major stores that sell baby gear like BRU or Baby Depot. Our stores like Walmart and Target do not have the best selection in anything. I pretty much have to take my chances with internet buying since I am not up to traveling hours just to shop.
For any of you who are interested, I won that bedding from an ebay store that had awesome feedback AND a 30 day return policy.
9pc $102.00.

Danab: Sounds like a great place to have a baby. At my hospital we can choose whether or not to room in. They only took DS away for the circumcision and lab tests. I will room in again since it will give baby and I more time to get acquainted with one another.

Lovin the diaper bag!

Thanks dana b! That looks like such a comfy wrap! I already have a few slings, so I thought I would try this one out. :)

clothing at hospital - The hospital I delivered at made me take off everything (note: take off any valuables / jewelry before you go!!!) They put all of my personal thingies in a plastic bag. For labor & delivery, I just got the hospital issued gown. During recovery, it was great to have a nursing tank top and a cheapo robe (I threw it away when I was done) to walk the halls in. The garments I got tied in front, so there was no bare a$$ hanging out when I walked around during labor (but it was midnight, and not too much traffic there anyway, other than nurses or other laboring moms, so I didn't care too much.)

First the good news: I passed the 1 hour GTT.

Now the 'enh' news: I spoke too soon on the previa. It's still considered marginal at 2.75 cm away from the cervical OS. So yet another u/s to schedule.

More 'enh' news: I've been home sick the last couple of days, due to what may be but probably is not strep. It's probably my annual bacterial infection. I started getting a sore throat on Tuesday, but thought it was just because I was talking a lot at work. Wednesday morning, I woke up with a worse sore throat, swollen lymph nodes in my neck, lots of phlegm to cough up, and a big white sore on my tonsil. My OB gave me a script for penicillin just to be on the safe side.

I am feeling better today in that the sore throat is gone, as is the feeling of having enlarged lymph nodes. I'm still headachy and the throat still looks all red and inflamed. It was crappy to have to miss work, since that's 2 days I'm being paid for now that I won't be paid for on leave (since I have to use PTO), but I rarely take time off work when I'm sick, and I really needed it this time.

I'm stressing BIG time right now. We're getting really nasty, wet weather right now. My ds's outdoor bday party is tomorrow. We're having it at a picnic park and it's completely paid for now. Looks like our little one may be making the push to be the first one of the group born. I've been having contractions all morning and there was is some blood when I go to the bathroom. Right now, the contractions are nowhere near regular (good thing since DH is at a paintball tournament until 6 tonight and I'm alone with the kiddos!) but we'll see what comes out of all of this. I feel a whole lot bigger. I know Mom said in the last month, I've really grown (she didn't see me for 3 weeks). Bean is now kicking up a storm and I feel her on both sides of my belly at once (I guess she's stretching). I've yet to feel hicups, though. I'm sure they'll come.

LyLMyssChaos ~ Are you planning on going to the hospital, just to be checked?

Camdynlyn Great pics! Your belly reminds me so much of my own!

Well, it's officially over - work that it is! At least for the next 12 months. I'm quickly adjusting to relaxing :p . Claire and I went to the beach this morning, to two playgrounds, then after her nap we went for ice cream with a friend.

Dh is very busy building our deck today!!! I'm pretty excited about the deck, I've wanted one for a long time now. I just really want a comfortable place to spend the summer, since Claire wants to play in the back yard all day. Our yard is huge, and completely fenced in, so I figure she can run and play while I sit and read (or eat ice cream ;) ).

This baby is crazy active. It looks like an alien is trying to get out of my belly!

The ladies at work hosted a baby shower for me this past Wednesday, it was fun, and I got some really nice gifts.

We really need to get started on Claire's new room, so we can get the baby's room ready. I guess that will be the next project, once the deck is done. Poor Dh, he has too much work to do!

mommy2AlliWill Yay for a birth day!

LMC My fingers are crossed that the contractions stop for you.

Baby baths What kind of baby baths have you used or heard about and liked or disliked? We registered this weekend and couldn't decide on two things - stroller and carseat combo or travel system and the baby bath. Do you really need a baby bath or does one of those sponge things work well enough when the baby is brand new? Where do you give baths - at the kitchen sink or in the tub? Ahhh - it was not a pretty sight as I just about had a nervous breakdown looking at all the options!

LyLMyssChaos

Well, good news, the contractions stopped about 2 am this morning, but I am SO SORE!! Talk about an involved dress rehearsal though! :p I'm just going to try and take it easy for a few days while I recover (yeah, right, I've got my daughter's 3rd birthday party on Saturday!)

I totally love the stuff everyone is posting. We have that Graco system in an older pattern and we LOVE it!!

As for the baby bathtub thing, I would advise everyone to avoid "The First Years 4 Stage Baby Bath System"
http://img.epinions.com/images/opti/9f/86/The_First_Years_4_Stage_Baby_Bath_System_3129_Bath _Hygiene_Accessories-resized200.jpg

We have it and we hate it!! We are getting rid of it and getting something else for this baby because that thing is just so horrendous! Both of my kids cut their feet on it, the angle is all wrong for a newborn(someone has to hold the baby while you wash them in this tub), the suction cups that you are supposed to use for a sitting child won't stick if there is water in the bathtub and just, it is all around not a good tub at all!

Hello all! Sorry I have been MIA lately but I have been following along. I have been super super busy w/ school and work and just life in general. I had my Dr.'s appointment a week & a half ago & I am not too happy about how much weight I have gained so far (a mere 30 pounds :o  )!!! I have been walking alot more and just watching what I eat as I am terrified of gaining much more. My next appointment is on July 12th where I'll be 32 weeks.

Its so scary to think about how close we are all getting! I got some hospital forms to fill out from our Dr.'s and I will be returning those at my next appointment. Then we have our baby shower coming up on the 29th of July that we are super super excited about. Its going to be a co-ed shower & our parents are going all out! We will probably be having close to 50 people in attendance & we'll be having it catered.

We are taking a baby care basics class tomorrow evening so that should be fun. Our labor class isn't until mid July.

K ladies, better get back to work.

Take Care!

lmc hope your babe stays put!

anastasia the stroller is the jane powertwin, i ordered it from www.letsgostrolling.com. i didn't get the mia bossi on sale, but for some reason most sites had that color listed at $330., i got it for $270. at www.littledudesandivas.com (www.littledudesanddivas.com), you can get one a bit cheaper on ebay.

twink i like the primo eurobath

we used it for a long time. i always bathed dd on the floor in my bathroom. when she was old enough, i would just put the tub in my shower and bathe us both together.

Wow LMC, glad the contractions stopped, you need that baby to keep baking so it can be super healthy:)

craft- good choices, nice that you can go on-line & change it up if you need to, a pregnant woman should always have the option to change her mind. '

twink- I have the same baby bath that camdyn posted above. It has a sling that you can use at the beginning, so baby isn't actually in the water. It is kind of bulky though. We do tub in sink for the first few months & then in the tub when they get a little older.

ocgatita- staying busy is a good thing, it'll make the time go faster.

Nothing new here except my sugars are staying well within range so I am excited about that:)

Tubs - first we used the blue one that Camdynlyn posted - it worked great, I loved the sling, no problems at all. Then DS got too big for it. But he decided he was also afraid of the big tub (no idea why, he loves the baby pool). So then we bought the eurobath that Dana B posted - and at 26 months we're still using that. It's quite a bit bigger and bulkier than the blue one, but we hang it from a hook on the wall above the tub when we're not using it and it stays out of our way. I actually like using it more than a real tub, even now, because it really keeps my wet squirmy DS contained well. Plus then I don't feel as bad about not cleaning the big tub as often as I should. I really loved the net hammock thing on the blue tub, that was super useful for a newborn and the eurobath doesn't have that - that's the only reason we haven't gotten rid of the blue tub yet, everything else about the eurobath (except for it's hugeness) I like better.

Im glad you feeling better Lylmyss!

<warning RANT ahead>
Im pretty upset right now, I got this wild hare today to call my Dr.'s office to see it they had my charts yet from my last csection pregnancy, as I have not been able to stop thinking about the fact that I may be facing a second Csection which is so not what I have envisioned for this birth. So I call, and after about 30 minutes of checking the other office, records etc.. the nurse has to sadly inform me that indeed my records are no where to be found and well as a matter of fact, the dont even have it on record whether they were ordered or not!!!! So I have been sitting here for going on a month now, chomping at the bit til my next appt so I can find out if I can or cannot have a Trial of Labor (as I REALLY would like to have this on au natural!) and THEY HAVENT EVEN ORDERED THE RECORDS!?!?!? Am I to wait another month????? to find out?????? I dont want to wait, I want to know the answer yesterday fer cryin out loud! Soo now the nurse at the NEW office (not mr. jackass bad doctor whom hasnt put in the order) is going to try her darndest to see if she can rush order my charts from California, even tho they told me it would take 10 to 14 days, in hopes that they will indeed be able to tell me one way or the other next friday at my appt.... I admit it, I am really upset and now depressed, and I left my darn cel phone at home, so I cant even call my mommy or DH and sob in peace, because I am stuck at the front desk of my office.....

On anothernote, I put that same blue baby tub like Camdenlyn on my register too...
