I know this is a lovely topic, but my 10 month old has had chest congestion and coughing for about 5 days. The trouble is that a few times a day, she coughs so hard, she vomits!

How normal is this?

I'm thinking she has a very sensitive gag reflex.

If I remember right, it's not that unusual to cough so hard you throw up. If it's really concerning you, call your ped.

My DD is in daycare and is sick constantly. Everytime she gets a really bad cough, she throws up from coughing so hard. She will throw up several times per night when it is really bad. On those nights, I just give her pedialyte to re-hyrdate her and I think it is easier on their stomach and doesn't produce as much phlem (sp).

Yep my DD (9 months) has a very sensitive gag reflex and when she's sick can cough hard enough to make herself vomit. Right now we have the lovely combo of that with her being on Erythromycin, which bugs her stomach. I called the ped this morning to have her switched to a new med, this is just too much on her little body!

Hope your baby's feeling better!!!
