I recently got a new car and can no longer use the mirror on the headrest like I was before to see DS in his car seat.(Just to clarify, the mirror went on the headrest of the back middle seat, then I could look in my rearview mirror and see DS via the mirror over his seat)

My new car's headrest doesn't go high enough to get the angle right. So there is nothing to attach the mirror to.

I haven't been able to find any other options, but I feel there must be some. Can anyone help?

thanks.

We put the mirror infront of DS in the middle right above the back seat. Does that make sense? I moves a lot but it works good enough.

here is the mirror

Just as a sidebar...as wonderful as those things are...most carseat professionals will tell you that it's not a good idea to have them there, no matter how soft because as soon as you slam on the brakes it becomes a projectile object...

I had someone licensed as a carseat installer tell me not to use a mirror and/or any car toys that hang near a carseat for this very reason...

So while cute and helpful to Mommy...not a good idea unless it is offset a bit from the seat so it won't go flying @ baby's head...

i don't know if this would work for you. this is the only one i could get to work for us, it pivots in every direction.

i have this one by safety 1st. the only thing is that the mirror would fall off from the suction cup thingy...so i crazy-glued it. and now it's perfect! :)

For Christmas, DH got me this car video monitor http://www.onestepahead.com/jump.jsp?lGen=detail&itemID=308775&itemType=PRODUCT&iProductID=308775&change=117 I LOVE it! It's such a nice sharp picture. I think he bought it from somewhere less expensive than One Step Ahead has it for, but it's still kind of a splurge. I love it though :)

Thanks for the ideas guys, but so far none of those will work for me.

The problem is that I have nothing to attach the mirror to. There is no headrest, and the back window one like ABCBride posted will not work because the back window is too far away (SUV).

The tech that installed our infant seat said, yes, you're not supposed to use them, but he's a realist and it's much safer to have the mirror than to be constantly trying to turn around and see your baby.

He also recommend getting the lightest one possible, and to attach it using the LATCH tether clip. That way, the chances of it coming off in an accident are pretty slim.

Beach Bum, if you find something, please post. I am in the same position as you w/an SUV that has no headrest in the middle seat.

NOt much help I know but we have a large round mirror with a green border, I think it is some kind of animal, that attatches with a tether to the latch thingy and I don't think it requires a head rest, don't think we have those in our car either. I don't unfortunatly have a name and we bought it a local store that is now out of business. I may have seen them at Target but I really don't remember, we have been front facing for about 6mths now and use a different kind of mirror now.

I found this on the Target site. Not the one I have and I am not sure I like the design as far as saftey in an accident but it might work. It is only $10.

This one also says it has multiple attachments including a teether.

This one has good reviews, the moms say you can see well in it and it is securely attatched, though one mom said that you need a head rest or a latch to clip it too.
