maryanne - I posted in the other thread that I'm too nervous to call her DH. I'm afraid he'll freak out that some stranger is calling to check up on his wife. If she hasn't posted by Monday, I'll call and check up on her. I hope everything's okay!!

Amanda ~ Thank you soooo much for the new thread! Thank God for you and your updates. :)
Gina ~ Hope all is well with you and your little boy.
I've been really crampy most of the day and we just got home from a run to Walmart for pads, breast pads, and little last minute things for M. I'm going to take a nice bath and go to sleep.

Thanks for the new thread.
This will be a busy weekend for us. We don't have plans to go anywhere but I want to get everything ready for baby. I plan to stop by BRU and Target tomorrow after work to make some returns. Then I want to put all the baby stuff away and get the baby's room complete. After that we need to finish getting the house back to pre-baby shower condition.

Thanks for the new thread...so exciting that it's actually a 'Welcome Baby' thread!
Well, I'm still hanging in there...like Gaffy who is my original due date buddy, I think I will more than likely make it until June. Although I did have some steady contractions tonight between 5-7. They were about 4 minutes apart, but weren't terribly strong and stopped when I sat down to eat dinner. I'm hoping that means I've made some progress.
I also finished cleaning the house (at least as much as I wanted) the only thing left for me to do is vacuum the carpet and wash the tile floor (but I don't think it's going to happen...I think that's a job for DH to do.) I also have to get out in my garden and get a couple plants planted. But at least everything I wanted to get done is now done (and my bathrooms sparkle!)
This weekend is going to be a quiet one for us, although I do have a bunch of jobs for DH to do. We have to get the new shower head installed in the baby's bathroom (it's one with a hose, to reach all the way to the tub,) we have to dig out three Cedars we planted last year that died over the winter and return them, we have to hang the pictures my parents did for us in the baby's room...and last but not least, DH is going to cart off two years worth of beer bottles to the Liquor Store. They've been collecting in the basement and I think it's time they finally left the building.
Other than that, not much else...I'm about to start another book (the third this week) and will probably try to make it through that this weekend and iron all DH's new summer clothes.
Hopefully something will work to dislodge this baby...I feel like I'm ready to pop, I just wish he would cooperate.
Kaeden's ~ Congrats on losing your plug (how weird does that sound?) I've been checking the toilet paper and toilet bowl everytime I go, but so far nothing. I asked my M/W what percentage of women actually lose their plug and she said it was only about 50%...so I'm not going to worry if I don't see it, but it would be nice to know that something was happening.
Anyways...I think I'm off for bed, hopefully I can fall asleep before DH gets to bed. Have a great night everyone and will try to check in tomorrow.
Gina ~ I'm thinking about your too...hoping and praying that everything is alright with you and your little one. I know it's probably not a priority to check in, but we'll be thinking about you until we hear from you. All the best!

Thanks for the new thread! :D
I went to Wal-Mart last night and picked up some stuff for my hospital bag. I figured since I'm 35 weeks now I should get that done and in my trunk just in case. I still have a few more things to pick up this weekend - batteries for the digicam, PJ's for the hospital, and a nursing bra, but that's about it. If I'm a 38C right now, any suggestions what size nursing bra to buy?

DH just mentioned tonight that he needs to pack his hospital bag. Mine was done, but then I started stealing socks from it. I bought new black socks for the bag and I love them so I've been stealing from the bag. So I need to add laundry to this weekends tasks to close up the bag. We haven't started the labor bag.

Ultrasound Appt:
I had my ultrasound appt today and it went very well. I don't know if I told you guys, but last time I had a horrible experience. Basically the technician I had was very RUDE and hardly said a word to me. When I would ask her how the baby looked, she would say..."oh, that's for the doctor to say, not me! :/ She also kept glaring at DS1 because he was making a little noise with his feet on the stroller. Well, what do you expect? He's 2 yrs old for god's sake. You don't give little kids dirty looks like that! On top of that, she only gave me 1 stinkin' picture of DS2. %#^#@%@$#! Can you believe that?
Anyhooooo, when I went there today, I specifically requested not to have her and luckily I got one that was VERY nice. She was so bubbly and sweet. I got outta there with 6 pics of my little boy. :D She was also very reassuring and said that the baby looked great. He's already up 6lbs 13 oz! :eek: Holy schmoly! And I still have 2 more wks to go? :faints: DS1 was 7lbs 4oz and was a day late. I have a feeling DS2 is gonna be huuuuge!
I'll be back later to share some pics of my little man. As soon as I scan them I'll post them up. :D
Work Shower/Going Away Party
My DH's team threw him (us) a surprise Baby Shower/Going Away Party at work today. Soo sweet! They originally wanted both of us there (since we both work at the same place) but since we've both been on vacation the past few weeks and I have been working from home a lot, they didn't know when I would be in the office again. They had actually planned it a few wks ago, only to find out we were on vacation that week, so I guess we messed up their plans. :o I actually hadn't planned on going back into the office, since I already packed up all my stuff and we are getting close to the due date. Don't want to go into labor at the office. heh. So yea, they ended up throwing him the shower today w/o me. That's ok though. I was shocked that they even thought of us.
They ended up getting him a nice engraved clock as a going away present (since he will no longer be their manager once we move) AND a baby bathtub filled with all these baby goodies..bottles, bibs, an outfit, receiving blankets, washcloths, etc. They sent me pictures, too. It was kinda funny seeing DH opening baby gifts. LOL! It was all soo very sweet. If I'm up for it and DS2 hasn't made his grand entrance, I might go into the office next week, just to thank everyone and say goodbye before we leave for AZ. They want to take us out after work for some drinks (non-alki for me, ofcourse!) :p

Threadmistress: The thread looks great! Thank you so much for being so organized and keeping us together!
Shamocha: How very sweet that your coworkers threw a nice surprise party for you! How cute that your DH got to open baby gifts! ;)
Work: Are any of you still working up to the end? I'm still working at the hospital and teaching(I know, I'm crazy!) but I'm wrapping things up. As long as I feel okay, I will probably continue to work so that I can save as much maternity leave as possible. I feel much better prepared now than I did just a few days ago. I pretty much wrapped up everything I need to do for work, got the house cleaned, and feel mentally better prepared for L&D. I had a horrible L&D the first time so I'm hoping and praying that things will be very different this time around.
I'm not sure if I'm still at 4cm but I feel pretty much the same as I did a few days ago. I have a feeling though that I'll have this baby in the next day or two!

Okay, got an email from Gina's husband. Their little boy is here and Gina is well!! I don't want to put too much info so she can come in and tell you all everything, but since I know we were all worried about her, I thought I'd update you. CONGRATULATIONS, GINA AND JON!!!!

Thanks Tracie.
Congratulations Gina.
Shamocha - that was a great that the office had baby stuff for DH too.
working - I'm hanging out until the very end. My hours have already been cut by my doctor, but I'm still working full days since I work the other hours at home.
I had the craziest dream last night that my little boy was 1.5yrs old when he was born. I was very upset because I missed the infant stage. I was positive that there was still another baby is there and that the u/s must have just missed that 1.5 year old.

congratulations Gina! I can't wait to hear more.
so I had my 36 week check up yesterday. and I have nothing going on. not dilated, not effaced. . nothing. it seems like everyone else has at least something going on. . . am I the only one still sealed up tight? am I going to be the last to deliver???? I know this baby needs a little more time but I am so ready! my replacement at work starts next Monday so I know I need to train her but I have pretty much wrapped up everything and am just biding my time. so boring.
thanks for the new thread. . it looks great!

Congratulations, Gina! And thank you TracieB for updating all of us. I was getting worried....
DS: The dreams seem to be getting more and more strange, aren't they?!
simplicity: I can't believe that baby of yours is going to arrive in the next couple of days and you are still working away! You are a determined woman!
shamocha17: Good for you for requesting a better tech. A pleasant healthcare provider can make all the difference. Sounds like you've got a healthy baby in that belly. Great news! That was very nice of your DH's work to throw him a shower. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when my DH opened the baby gifts from his coworkers. All that pastel wrapping paper! It must have been a funny sight!
Mystikal: Good question about the nursing bras. I almost bought one and a nursing tank last weekend at Target but left with nothing b/c I was undecided about the size.
MrsBrownie: Still hangin' in there, huh?! Funny to think that just a week or so ago we were all sure your baby was going to make an early appearance. Well, I guess it probably isn't so funny to you at this point, right?! ;)
shouldaeloped: Despite my contractions, I'm still closed up tight too. You aren't alone.
I met my DH in the city after work last night and we were out at dinner with his coworkers until almost 11. All those hours without my feet up resulted in some very chubby looking feet. Gross! I was glad I decided to sport the "Gwen look" yesterday--light pants under my dress. It kept my ugly feet well hidden. The swelling is almost all gone this morning though.
Had my now weekly NST this morning at the hospital. DH came along since he had the day off. The baby was moving around a lot so the nurse was able to get all the needed info. fairly quickly. (They have to monitor the baby for a minimum of 20 minutes and the baby's heartrate has to accelerate w/ movement at least twice within that 20 minutes.) But the monitor also picked up irregular contractions. I didn't feel any of them except for the last one. Actually, I'm still feeling the crampiness I felt yesterday but it feels like mild menstrual cramps--bothersome but not painful. Then the last contraction was actually a bit painful. The nurse spoke to my doctor. The doctor basically said that she wasn't concerned about the contractions since they consider me 37 weeks today w/ a due date of 6/16 based on LMP. She's fine with the baby arriving any day now. :eek: Oops. Just had another teeny contraction.
We checked out a labor & delivery room before leaving the hospital. It was nice! My DH was psyched about the recliner. :rolleyes:
I was planning on going into the office but I think I'll work from home today. Sounds like a good plan, right?? :D
Edited to add this interesting fact about my older brother's birth: Just found out that my Mom was 8 cm (!!!!) dilated at her Friday appointment with my brother. The doctor told her she COULD GO HOME and should come back to the hospital for induction on that Monday morning if she hadn't gone into labor. Well, she didn't go into labor on her own. The doctor broke her water on Monday morning and my brother arrived TWO HOURS later. Craziness!

Greetings ladies!
Congrats to NikosMommy and Gina on your sons!
Had my 37 week appt yesterday - still closed up tight. Baby is head down, lower than last week. Funny, but it feels to me like s/he is moving up into my ribs!
Surprise baby guesses mostly I've been getting girl guesses. The funny part is that someone will say 'you're carrying all around' (which, by the way I despise :mad: ), 'you must be having a girl'. Then the next person will have the same comment and say 'you must be having a boy because with my son I carried all around' :rolleyes:

Congrats Gina! Welcome to your little boy!
TGIF.. ladies
THanks threadmistress for a our wonderful new thread.
I love hearing everyone's experince on what "others" have to say!
GINA: CONGRATS ON YOUR SON... so exciting
Amurphy: DH and the recliner.. hysterical... LOL.. Oh Btw.. .I was getting out of work yesterday and I saw this stroller and I thought.. "how cute is that" and it passed me I checked out the brand (I find myself doing alot of stroller checking when someone passes me by)... and it was a Quinny... I was so freakin excitied... Since i have only seen our stroller on the internet I had no idea what it looked like in person.. :p ... anyway... .we made a good choice.. really cute!
Me: Today is my last day at work.. kinda scary but I am sure for the good.. I have tons of lists of things I have to do here and at home.. (I am such a list junky).
People's comments: Since we are discussing what people say to our "cute little bellies"... I usually take the comments in stride and think "no big deal" I am pregnant and people are going to say these things.. BUT last night I was so flammed. I went to the gym and I sat down on one of the machines.. and I here this guy say something.. but I cannot hear him because I have ear phones on... so I pull out my earphones and I say "I am sorry I did not hear you".. and he proceeds to roll his eyes and say "That is one big baby and you are huge...how big is your baby and how big is your husband"... (I am think how ignorant can you be... :mad: ).. so I proceed to tell him how far along I am, how tall my husband is.. (which we know makes NO difference)... and he gets up and leaves the weight room.. AS IF I WAS GOING TO PUSH THE KID OUT ONTO THE FLOOR RIGHT THEN AND THERE... so I walked over to one of the people who work there and said "I think I scared one of your members, he left when I sat down. Apparently he thinks pregnancy is like the bird flu... ":mad: So I then left and vented to DH.. and then ate french fries... :D
Have a wonderful day ladies...
Congrats Gina-Hope all is well, waiting for the details on your new little boy:D !!

Ryan ~ What a pig! I can't believe that jerk acted so stupid. He's obviously a complete idiot.
Ryan-That is hilarious, apparently his brains are in his biceps! What an idiot!
My favorite comment is from all my patients when they say, "Oh, your'e still here?". No I am just a figment of your imagination........
Thank god it's my last day........

Hello All :D
quick post...
CONGRATS GINA!!!
Things are ok, but getting rough. I can't nurse right from the nipple due to latch problems, so after I feed Troi I have to pump and right now I just have a hand pump so it takes FOREVER :/ I'm going to try to convince Brian tonight that we need to get one, and hopefully he'll agree and then Shamocha will be hearing from me :D
I am sleep deprived right now. I had Troi on my chest and Niko sitting back resting on my very enlarged and engorged boobie and I dozed off :/ Seeing as I don't have to nurse directly, Brian will get up during the night for the feedings and I can just pump at that time. I was up 2 hours last night feeding and pumping :(
Other than that Troi is wonderful :D No sleep, no time to take a long shower, no time for me, I LOVE IT :D Niko is also being a GREAT big brother.
And I swore up and down that I didn't want to have another baby, just adopt, well I'm changing my mind :rolleyes: I will discuss it with Brian before he goes in for his snip snip.
Gotta run. Need to get back to pumping. Be back soon.

Yay thank you for the new thread!!
So I think that Collin has taken up break dancing. :p He is poppin' and lockin' all over the place today just like his daddy.
That is so funny! DH and I were watching "So you think you can dance" on TV last night and I was telling him that Annabelle was poppin' in there. :)
Girls that is hysterical.. I am getting the same exact thing.. "pregnant lady still here"...
Btw..

CONGRATS GINA!!! I can't wait for the mommy's to come back and post tons of pictures! :)
Belly pics Ladies you are looking great! I find it surprising that I can tolerate being so big. In the first trimester I was so upset to know that I would get so large but it has been a slow progression and I got used to it.
Had my 37 week appointment yesterday.
Dilated 3cm (up from 2 last week)
Annabelle's heart rate at 160 (during doppler), 128 during u/s (consistent with previous visits).
She is really low.
My GBS was negative!
My belly measurement was unchanged from last week. Doc was concerned about fluid and ordered an u/s. U/S looked all normal, Annabelle measuring at 5lbs 8on. Got pictures of her face. SO CUTE! Doc said she's likely a smaller baby.
Doc said to definitely call if she stops moving or seems less active. She does not want me to go beyond my due date... seems like a lot of time to me. I am not sure why she seems concerned.
I've been feeling like crap. I'm seriously thinking she is coming sooner rather than later. I have lots of pressure. I think I have contractions sometimes but they are pretty mild so difficult to really identify. Doc said they might not be but when I asked about one during the visit she said it could be... so who knows. I'm a newbie!
So I need to prepare myself that it might be another 3 weeks or so but I am really hoping she will come earlier. My body just feels weird.
QOTD: DH attitude? So I was wondering if you're seeing changes in your DH's attitude recently. I find that now, anytime I tell DH that I may be feeling a contraction or anything "unusual", he gets that overly concerned look on his face, asks if we should call the doctor. It's so cute. He hadn't expressed concerned much so far throughout the pregnacy. He's also concerned about having a small baby and keeps nagging me to eat more! With 3 weeks to go, if baby gains 1/2 lbs each week, she will be an average baby (I read the average is 7-7.5lbs).

Beautiful belly and beautiful mom-to-be, Ryan! My Dad emailed me yesterday to confirm the brand and model of the stroller. He leaves for Germany in two weeks and will bring the Quinny for me back! Yahoo! Oh. And that guy at your gym is an idiot. :mad:
Nikosmom: You "sound" like a tired but happy Mom. :D
IzzyJune2006: I'm glad to hear that Annabelle continues to do well. She's almost 6 lbs...sounds like you and she are both ready for her arrival!
On a separate topic, now that I have weekly NSTs and get to listen/watch the baby's heart rate for quite a while, I realize that the doppler readings are so random. My baby's heart rate went from 124 to 178 during a 20 minute span this morning. :rolleyes:
I'm feeling crampy, crampy, crampy. And I want a doughnut.

QOTD ~ My DH is the same as yours Izzy which is kind of crazy since we've been through it before. If I tell him I've had a few contractions he automatically and worriedly asks if I need to go to the hospital. LOL!

Gina congratulations on your new son!! Can't wait to hear all the details!
Mystikal- I actually bought a nursing bra from Walmart earlier this week when I was buying our diaper station supplies. It is really comfy, looks like a normal bra, and was only $8!
Shoulda- I haven't had any internals so I have no clue. I won't get them until 38 weeks unless I am showing signs of preterm labor.
Shamocha- That was so nice of your company to throw a suprise shower for the two of you. Best of luck on your big move!
DS- I have had similar dreams where I take him home and he starts crawling, walking, and talking. It is so surreal! In one of those dreams he lifted up my shirt while I was sleeping and started nursing!!
People's comments- I haven't had too many. Last night I stopped at the salon during my mom's appointment and it is such a confidence boost all the girls were telling me how great I looked and how pregnancy really agrees with me. I know for the most part that is just what you say to pregnant woman but it is still so great to hear when you are feeling like a whale all the time.
I get the "oh you're still here?" comments all the time. Especially from vendors and our delivery guys. If I am away from my desk one day they assume that I had the baby and will even try to track my dh down to congratulate him.
Ryan- Great belly shot... Can I say that I just LOVE your hair!! I always think that you have the best hair whenever I see a picture of you.
Izzy- That is so cool that you got some pics of her face and lucky you that she may be on the smaller side (but still healthy of course).
Dh's attitude- It took a while for it all to be real for DH because of our prior m/c but I think at around 20 weeks he realized that I am carrying his baby and really started taking care of me. Sometimes he babies me to the point to where it is annoying but I have to remember to appreciate it because I could have a dh that doesn't seem to care enough.
So whenever I think my belly has dropped it seems to drop even more. Is it just about impossible for anyone else to wipe??? And bending down to pick something up off the floor is also just about impossible now. I squatted and bent down to get something yesterday and I heard this weird gurgle. I thought I popped something in there!! Maybe that's the reason why my feet are so swollen.

QOTD Yeah, DH is giving me those looks every time I mention some contractions or change. Like the weird pain/contractions I had at the store last night. Also, last night I had a good bit of mucous discharge but not "plug" per se and I told him, he was a little freaked. I think we will both be a little freaked if this baby comes early or even on time since we've been conditioned to think I *always* go late.
Ryan You look fantastic and that guy was a freak.
Congratulations GINA I am so happy to hear that you are well and so is your little boy. Details please:)
Nikos Sorry BF is a challenge and you are having to pump so much. Does your hospital have a lactation consultant you can call? You sound happy!
Amurphy Yay for a good NST
Shamocha That was nice of your co workers. How did I miss that you are moving? When? That is quite ambitious with a newborn!
Izzy Glad all is well!
Ruby Luckily I work from home so I don't have to hear that EVERY freakin day. I think I would not respond so politely after a while.
Kaeden's Thanks for the new thread and congrats on losing the plug!

Ok, I need help...
The belly tightening is weird this morning. Not sure what to think of it. Is it Annabelle pushing or the belly contracting. I mean if she pushes enough it will hurt too right? So how am I supposed to know what it is? I guess if it's not painful enough to make me gasp, then it must be her? Should I be timing? I feel stuff but I wouldn't say it's "painful". If I try to time these, they are about 5 min apart, but so weak.
Different people will have different levels of pain right? Maybe I should go for a walk and see how that feels.
Any suggestions ladies?

Izzy- I would try drinking some water and then do the opposite of what you are doing now. So if you are sitting then stand up and start walking. If you are active at the moment lay one your side. If they continue call your doctor or nurses line and they should be able to tell you whether or not you should come in. (i'd probably call them either way just for the reassurance).

36w2d...5 more days to full term
Izzy - I would do what Lil_Mrs suggested. If they were serious contractions you would know and would not be questioning them. since you are full term I don't think you have to worry about them.
I just got back from making returns at BRU and Target. Now I don't know what I will do with all this credit plus other gift cards we have from BRU/TRU. We have all the large ticket items except for the second convertible car seat which I think we will go and get. I guess I will just need to hold on to them until I need them. Luckily they don't expire.
ROs Now that your other kids are getting older, do you find that you still make frequent trips to BRU and TRU? I know I'll need a potty at some point and even further down the road I'll need a booster seat for the car, but I don't expect to still be holding on these gift cards in 2+ years. So...other than dipes, wipes and formula, what do you still buy from BRU? Do you buy a lot of toys from TRU?
Lil_Mrs_0702
05-26-2006, 02:59 PM
DS- I would not worry at all about not being able to use up your gift cards. There are so many little things that you will need to get that will add up so quick. I'm sure they will be empty by Christmas and you will wonder where it all went.
The gang at work just gave me a BRU gift card for $100.....they are the best! I feel guilty for wanting to be out of here so bad.....well, maybe not.....Half hour more and I'm off for 3 months....YIPPEE!!!!!:D

BIG UPDATE NEWS!!!
38 week appointment update!!!
Hello ladies!! So todays appointment was good and scary also. First we had a U/S to see just how big this kiddo is, and she said he is measuring 9 lbs 8 oz, HOLY CRAP!!!!! We got to see his fat little face and he even flipped us the bird on the 3D shot of his face that she did. LOL
Dr examined me next and said he is super duper low, and I am soft, but no dialation just yet. She wanted to keep me and induce me today due to his size, but with it being a holiday weekend they are a little short staffed and she didnt feel comfortable admitting me today. So she scheduled my INDUCTION for Wednesday May 31st!!!!!! I'm still stunned that its going to be so soon, but at the same time we hope he comes on his own this weekend because I really dont want to be induced if possible.
So tonight I'm going to go walking, eat some juicy pineapple and roll around on my yoga ball to see if we can get this cervix to dialate at all. Maybe DH will even get lucky. All in the name of labor. LOL :)
I hope everyone has a great weekend. Relax, eat some BBQ and have a great monday off from work. We might get our PC up and running at home so I might be on later tomorrow or sunday.

Ryan u look absolutely great! what a jerk that gym was.
ds u'll definitely find use of those BRU GC's - i wish i still had mine cos they sure do come in handy.
Dan's*Girl 9 and half pounds! OMG :eek: i would be freeking out. wow - u've grown quite a healthy baby there! hope all those tricks help this week-end.
ruby happy shopping!
Shamocha how awesome of your co-workers and i think its so cute that your DH opened gifts:)
Amurphy glad your NST went well
Nikos hope the BF issues work...i cant believe u're already thinking of another one!!!
Lil_Mrs_0702 did u get the Bestform bra? a friend of mine got those and she said they are great.
People's comments now that baby is dropping, i do look and feel much huger so the comments are 'look at that baby all ready to come out' and 'wow, u must be so ready' or 'u have that tired look today' (which i personally hate cos even if i feel great, people still think they have to tell me i look so 'done'). the comment i get most often is ' how much longer now'
today one of my co-workers gave me a really nice compliment when she said that i am the best looking pregnant women she's seen and i've really carried this baby well. it made me feel good for sure.
Dh's attitude he is super excited! and cant wait for our baby to arrive. he gets irritated and upset with me if i dont sit down or put my feet up and feels like he has to constantly remind me that i am not 2mths pregnant anymore! we've had 2 friends have their babies this week and he didnt want to hold either one cos he's 'waiting for his own' as he says! he's crazy. he's pretty good with babies and kids in general so he'll do ok and i know he'll be a big help. he's just concerned about how he's gonna knwo to help me when the real contractions begin, even though we've talked about it so many times! during our walk last night, we went over our plan and he feels comfortable about everything, just concerned about the pain and such.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
i hope i'm not, but i seriously feel like i am getting a cold:( my throat aches and i have a stuffy nose. any suggestions of what i can take?
Threadmistress Thanks for the new thread! I'm in disbelief at the title!!
I'm seriously having trouble absorbing the fact that it's almost time for this baby to come. The baby just seems like it's not real or something. I'm finding it hard to believe seeing the pics of the new babies that I have one of those inside of me!! It's making me very emotional, too. I have had some really emotional days lately.
My mom and her boyfriend and my grandparents are coming on Monday. Today was my day to get out all of the patio stuff, clean the patio and furniture, and set it all up. It was ugly, foggy, and cloudy this morning. The dogs and I got caught in some light rain on the way home for our walk. I watched the news when I got into the house and they were calling for t-storms (some severe) this afternoon, so I scrapped the patio idea and did some stuff in the house. I farted around the house all day waiting for it to rain and it never did. Now the sun is out and the sky is blue and I wasted the entire day. Ugh.
shaq Hope you aren't getting sick! Your DH sounds so cute.
dansgirl Oh my goodness, 9 1/2 lbs! You have one healthy babe there!!
ds Let me know if you have trouble spending the GC's and credit at BRU...I could definitely help you out with that!:)
ruby Congrats on being finished with work!
izzy How are you doing? I had a couple of nights like that a few weeks ago. I was having tons of BH's, then the baby started pushing on me. He was pushing so hard, I couldn't tell the difference between him and the contractions. It was extremely uncomfortable.
Sorry for anyone I'm missing, I have to go get dinner started!
BRU/TRU gift cards My DD is almost 3 and I haven't been to BRU much in the past 1.5 years or so. Depending on how much $$ you have, I think you will definitely get use out of them though. I know that you're planning to CD and BF, so you probably won't need that stuff, but I bet there will be other things that you won't realize you want/need until after your baby is here. You'll also need to get childproofing gear in 9 months or so, plus the potty and all kinds of feeding gear from booster seats to sippy cups. You can also get baby wash and lotion there too.
We buy a lot of toys from TRU - it's the most comprehensive store in our area that I know of. We tend toward the less, um, noisy toys, but there are still a lot of options. We also have many nieces and nephews so we buy gifts there as well.
lawyerwifemom
05-26-2006, 04:38 PM
ds Only a small sample of some of the things I've gotten at BRU since my first baby are:
Safety gates (the hardware mounted ones for the top and bottom of stairs are pretty pricey btw)
Other baby proofing supplies
Toys as the baby gets older and advances through various developmental stages
Feeding supplies/sippy cups/forks/spoons etc
breast feeding supplies/storage bags
bed rails for the big kid bed (although we ended up not using them)
potty chair and potty seat
booster seat to replace the annoying, giant highchair:p
And of course, there will always be gifts needed for other friends and family.
Orange we cross posted but our lists sound very similar! BRU/TRU are one store here in my town.
Ramona Were you thrilled or shocked when she suggested today!!! Next Wednesday will be here very soon! Good luck with the natural induction techniques this weekend.
We have a fun weekend planned. We are going to our barbeque and hang out at the pool tomorrow. Then Sunday we are going camping in the local mountains--just for the night. I am looking forward to roasted hot dogs and smores over the fire. And a non alcoholic beer or two!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
wow - Ramona, You're definitely having a May baby! how cool!! :) Can't wait to hear the news!!
Toys R us.... yup, chiming in with the others... baby proofing supplies are a biggie that you'll be buying later. And replacing stuff that you already have -- ie. less than a year in, my main diaper bag bit the dust, so there I was purchasing a new one (and waaaaayyyyy better one that has lasted 2 years and still going strong) when Connor was just over a year old. Also extra car seats - you may find you need more than one regular car seat if you have two vehicles.... or one for grandma's car, or whatever!
And as the kids get older, you may find that TRU has games/toys that aren't readily available at places like Walmart.
So, I will be 40 weeks in a couple of days...and while everyone I know thought I would go early...I didn't!
I think I'm at the point where I know there's not much time left, but I am so ready to meet this little person, see his face and get to know the child that DH and I created, together.
I must admit that, while I know it can't go on forever, it still kind of feels like that. At the most, I only have 2 weeks of being PG left and then no matter what he's being evicted. I really don't want to be induced, but the thought of being induced sooner rather than later is tempting rather than waiting another two weeks and then being induced. I guess we just have to wait and see!
I'm also a little concerned about the size of the baby. Hearing about Ramona's 9lb8oz baby makes me realize that the longer he stays in there, the bigger he gets and I don't know how much more room I've got left in there for him.
QOTD ~ DH has been really great the last couple of days. Before, when I would say that I was ready to have this baby, he would insist that I should be enjoying this time and not try to rush it. But for the past few days he's told me numerous times that he's VERY anxious now and just wants to have the baby. People keep asking him about me, giving him advice (even his boss told him that DTD was supposed to help...yuck!) He's now calling me numerous times a day, just to check in and yesterday, when I called his cell instead of the office, he was dissapointed when I said I was calling about dinner...he thought I was calling to tell him labour started.
We are now so ready for this baby, it's almost anti-climatic now. But we both figure (nothing to base it on of course) that our baby will make his grand entrance by next weekend. Hopefully the midwives can move things along at my appointment on Tuesday (fingers crossed)
Anyways, best wishes and good luck to everyone. Probably won't be on during the weekend, unless I go into labour, as we have a ton of stuff to get done. Hope everyone has a great weekend though...wonder if we will have anymore June Babies born in May this weekend?
Thanks for the information. I'm sure I can find something to buy. I just don't want to have stuff to have it. We do have some safety stuff but I do and will want some more. We have a very nice top of the stair gate from one of our neighbors. It is must nicer than the one we registered to get. We decided against a high chair long ago and have two Healthy Care Booster seats instead. We registered for one and ended up with two, but I decided to keep them both since we plan on a second child. I do have at least 2 baby showers coming up so that will help.
Dan's Girl - Next week...you too. Wow..Congratulations. You may be our first mommy to actually deliver is June.
MrsBrownie - It may seem anti-climatic now, but as soon as you get those real labor contractions I bet you two will be very excited.
Caution, serious vent ahead:
I had a dr. appt yesterday, and it was very, very frustrating. What was frustrating, however, was not the fact that I'm still not making much progress, it was the fact that the doctor didn't seem to listen to a single thing I said! (This isn't my usual doctor, but should I go into labor on a weekend this would be the guy I'd get.)
I've had all these NST's and ultrasounds this week, and the baby seems to really be thriving in there, plus I still feel pretty good. It seems to me that I'll at least reach my due date of 6/2 if not go past. I'm okay with that. This doctor, however, wouldn't listen when I said that. He did the internal from HELL- it was all I could do to keep from screaming it hurt so bad. Afterwards, he said he was trying really hard to get 2 fingers in and if he could then he'd go ahead and induce me! WTH!!! What part of "my body isn't ready and the baby's doing great and I don't want to be induced yet don't you understand???" I just kinda sat there in shock. And pain. And afterwards he said, "well, at least I got some bloody show". Um, no, you irritated my cervix so bad that there was no way I wasn't going to bleed. I'm pretty sure that's not what bloody show is.
I'm about ready to find a mid-wife and screw the whole hospital thing I'm so annoyed by this. I just don't understand why they won't listen to me when I say I'm not ready to be induced. The baby isn't that big, and we're both doing fine. I have another NST/BPP on Tuesday morning and then a doctor appointment with my regular doctor (who isn't really much better- although he's never tried to kill me on the exam table) on Tuesday afternoon. Hopefully I'll either have made some progress or I'll be able to get it into his head that I have no interest in being induced before what is my actual 40 week mark. And I'd like to be able to go beyond that if the baby is still doing well.
My body is definitely not ready to give birth yet, and I can accept that. If I'm not even 2 centimeters dilated and my cervix is still back and long I just don't believe an induction would be a good thing. And I really would like to have the opportunity to at least try NCB. I completely understand those of you who have scheduled inductions for various reasons, and if I were in the same boat I would do the same thing, but in my case I just don't see a need at this point.
I guess I'm just frustrated that everyone thinks that all I must want at this point is to get the baby out any way possible. I would love to have the baby out, but I'm willing to wait for the baby and my body to be ready.
Okay, vent over, thanks for listening. I feel a little less frustrated now. :o
sunshine and shaq- my doctor told me I could take benadryl or sudafed a couple weeks ago when I was going through the same thing. I didn't though because the pseudoephedrine in sudafed makes me nervous, although they have a version now that doesn't have that. He did say to call if my cough was bad though.
Graffy, That is unbelieveable!! I'm really sorry you had to go through that. I hope you don't end up with that doctor when you do go into labor, he'll probably have you jacked up on pitocin in no time!
Lawyerwifemom, I can't believe you are going camping! I can't imagine not sleeping in my own comfy bed. I can barely get comfortable in there, I can't even imagine being in a sleeping bag (aside from the fact there's no way I'd fit in mine these days). I am a bit envious though, I love camping and I haven't been in 3 years, since before I got pg with DD. We just never got our act together to figure out how to take a baby/toddler.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am feeling like I'm going to have this baby at any time now. My DD was born only 1 day early, so I have no reason to think that this baby will be early, but I am really feeling a lot of pressure that I don't remember having with her. Maybe it is just the different between #1 and #2. He's definitely very low though. My heartburn has gotten better and my need to constantly pee has gotten worse. I'm still short of breath all the time though, which is annoying. We are almost ready for him to arrive, finally. I have the last load of stuff I need to get washed in the washer right now and I'm just doing work around the house today getting it cleaned up and getting stuff put away. We finally got the carseat all installed and I think we even have a name picked out (maybe)!
My last day of work was yesterday and I feel much more relaxed now that I don't have to worry about going into labor at work. I also found out that I am somehow getting 12 weeks of Short Term Disability pay at 100%, so not only will I be getting my full pay for my whole 12 week leave, I don't have to use any vacation time! I'll have 20 days left to use for the remainder of the year, although I can't imagine I'll use it all. Our company has a "use it or lose it" policy so I'll probably lose some this year.

We have the Chicco Mamma and I really love it, but costs about twice as much. We got it as a gift but I may have paid for it anyway. Some people also go with just a booster seat since it takes up much less floor space and it is much cheaper. We started with one when DD was 4.5 months old and she still sits in it at the dinner table.

Checking in! I'm following along but no time to post replies! We are finishing up the nursery and rest of the house this weekend, and I still have to buy some last minute things (like more diapers!) so hopefully we will be productive and this little guy can come anytime!!
Congrats to Gina! Can't wait for an update!
Good luck to those of you who are due/being induced this week! Wow!!

Drive-by post
Orange I used to sleep on a thermarest but now I have a cushy 2 inch thick pad for under my sleeping bag:D Both our kids have been camping many times. We just bring ALOT more stuff and a pack-n-play:rolleyes:
Graffy Sounds like he stripped your membranes without telling you. I have asked my OB to do mine each time at 39.5 weeks. But I would be beyond pissed if she had just done it because there is a small risk the procedure will cause a rupture. I am like you, I would really like to avoid induction (for me, simply because I really want to avoid a c-section.) I want to give my body every opportunity to go into labor naturally.

graffy How frustrating!! I hope your doc is more receptive if you haven't made progress by Tuesday. Stand your ground. As long as the baby is okay, I agree with you. I don't see any reason to induce early.
highchair BB's top pick is the Fisher Price Healthy Care. BB says there are four versions: Basic, Classic, Deluxe, and Linkadoos. The only Healthy Care model my BRU had is the Aquarium model. The chair pad is vinyl, and the straps, toys, and trays can be cleaned in the dishwasher. The second pick is the Baby Trend "Trend" high chair, but the only downer is the chair pad needs to be line dried. BB says it's a good knockoff of the more expensive Chicco and Perego chairs, and is easier to use. Both have recline features, casters, and height adjustments.

Hello all :D
All 3 of my boys are asleep and I'm pumping (typing w/one hand) so I have a minute.
i cant believe u're already thinking of another one
I must think now cause Brian wants a vasectomy, so I have to plan :/ We want to adopt a little girl and for that price we can do gender selection.
Just wanted to drop off some "stats":
We've gone through 40 diapers in 5 days. About 10 of those were 'missed changes', he peed before I could close the new diaper so it was not only on the inside but the outside too :D
I've used 18 of my 28 maxi pads. Although I'm still bleeding, it's not heavy enough for a maxi, but I'm not letting them go to waste either. I would say I'm at a day 3 of a 5 day period.
I've done 2 loads of kids laundry so far.
And, I've been personally peed on twice :D
So things are going good right now. And although I am sleep deprived and a slave to the pump, I AM VERY HAPPY.
Take care and be back soon.

thanks everyone for the highchair advice!!! I just realized that I never put one on my registry---figure now I might as well :)
I think that I might go with the chicco. I fell in love with the travel system since it was so light and easy to use (especially if my hands are still messed up) and hopefully the chair will be the same!

Just a quick post to update.
I feel better today so far. I think yesterday may have been the result of a very long and stressful week. I plan to get a lot of rest this weekend.
I was a little freaked out too that I was bleeding after my exam on Thursday. The doc said it was normal. It's still spotting a little bit but since I feel better I am not too concerned.
I'll have to come back to read and catch up! Thanks for the concern and suggestions.

Hi ladies! I'm checking in to tell you about Alex, the apple of my eye. His stats are incomplete on page one so here they are: Alexander "Alex" Roald born May 18, 2006 at 2:41pm. He was 6 lb 7 oz and 19.5 inches long. He is doing really well and we can't believe how lucky we are! He checked out well on his first ped visit last Monday. He was 6 lb 1 oz when he was dismissed from the hospital and at the appointment he was up to 6 lb 2.5 oz. I'm not breastfeeding him yet. He was four weeks early so he's just not able to do it. We keep trying, though, and I'm pumping regularly. It is really hard on me emotionally but I'm hanging in there, hoping he'll get better. I feel great and the birth was amazing. One day I'll get in here to post more about that. In the meantime here's a photo of my little man. Be still my heart. :)

I went through the same thing with Niko, bad latch, etc and it does take a toll on you mentally, but pumping is just as good as bf'ing, he's getting your milk. I can't nurse Troi so I'm pumping and he getting a bottle, but he's still getting my milk.
Please contact me if you have any questions. There is also a bf'ing thread here so visit them too.

Sarah: He's gorgeous!!!! Try not too stress too much over the BFing. Just keep trying. Do you have a good LC to work with? It can make all the difference.
Graffy: I'd be pi$$ed. I have no intentions of having a NCB, but I still don't want to be induced unless absolutely necessary. I can't say I really like my OB office (they also seem to not be listening most of the time), but there really aren't any other options around here. Because of all the malpractice problems in PA, many of the docs have left, leaving the ones that are left overworked and less compassionate and caring. It's really frustrating.
connorsmommy: Yea for getting so many things checked off your list. I still have a week and a half before I can check everything off of mine.
Work: I'm working until the end, unless told otherwise by the doc. We need the money, and I have so much to do there before my EDD. I'm working 10-11 hours a day (3 days a week) just to squeeze everyone in.
shoulda: My guess is that I'm still sealed up tight too. I won't find out until late this week. But, with Mia, I had contractions every 2 minutes for over 10 hours before my body finally started to dilate, so I'm doubtful it'll be much easier this time.
Ryan: You look great! Guys know nothing when it comes to the size of a woman before she gives birth. If I saw you walking around, I'd guess you weren't due for at least 2 months (at least I'd hope, since I'm much bigger than you;) )
Shaq and sunshine: I hope you both feel better soon. When I delivered Mia, I had a horrible cold. My cousin was due a week later and when I talked to her after the birth she paniced because she thought I had been crying from the pain, when it was just how congested I was. Giving birth was a nice distraction from the cold, however, sneezing and coughing after pushing a baby out is not a pleasant thing- and forget about trying to blow your nose. When DH got the same cold a week later, I told him to not even try and complain to me about it;)
Well, DH is out of town for the weekend- putting a roof on his brother's house. I told him I'd kill him if he fell off the roof and got hurt. My Mom is staying here each night, just in case- she's also a big help with Mia. We went to the pool today, and it was gorgeous. We'll be spending the rest of the weekend there especially since it's supposed to get hotter and hotter as the weekend progresses. It gets us out of the house, and wears her out so she takes a much better nap.

highchair ~ We have the FP Healthy Care Deluxe. I'd recommend it. It's easy to take the chair pad off to clean underneath it too. If you're lacking room though you may want to look at something like this instead:
It's the FP Space Saver Highchair - $50 at Target.

Sarah, Alex is beautiful! :) Keep trying to latch Alex on several times a day -- you CAN make it work, even if it takes some time! :) my 35 weeker had a tough time getting started, but by the time he was discharged (15 days) he was BFing 100% of the time.... Hang in there! Alex WILL get it -- just keep being persistent, and when he absolutely won't, stay best friends with your pump! :)
**********
36w 5d -- I can't believe I'm less than 48 hours away from being full term!! After the scare 4 weeks ago, I didn't think I'd make it this far!
Feeling uncomfortable (I swear, the U/S tech somehow missed the fact that Dawson actually has 8 legs and 8 arms....because how else could he be poking, prodding and squirming inside of me ALL the time with just 2 arms & 2 legs?)... and quite tired.
However, the tiredness seems to be more because Connor has decided to start waking up several times every night for the past week for a plethora of reasons ranging from "I need to pee" (yeah, he did this EIGHT times between 3 and 5 a.m. last night -- producing some pee 7 of the 8 times :eek:) to "I'm scared of the wind/street light/fuzz floating in the air/cookie monster/etc." It's driving me NUTS because he NEEDS tucking in every time in order to settle down. I refuse to lock him in his room (we have a lock on the outside of his door), which DH is telling me we should do, because of Connor's need to go pee and my desire NOT to regress in the potty training area. But that means I'm woken up several times/night.
It's just soooo hard right now because I KNOW it's because he knows that there's a big huge change happening in our family VERY soon. So all I can really do is just set SOME boundaries (no sleeping in mommy/daddy's bed, no matter how much you beg because you say you're scared) and pray this phase passes before Dawson arrives. I just cannot imagine being up most of the night b/c of Dawson... and then everytime he's finally asleep, having Connor wake up and need me.
Anyway, sorry - that last part of my post was more suited to a toddler thread... just had to get it all out!

Graffy, that is beyond crappy. Definitely stand your ground. Doctors LOVE inductions, makes their lives so much easier- I think they come up with excuses sometimes. If going into labor on your own is very important to you, especially since everything is totally fine, you should do it. They can't force you to induce.
If my doc was hurting me like that I think I might accidentally kick him in the head.

I have been having contractions on & off all day but nothing long enough or close enough to time. I know he is going to tell me I am dialated more that a 1/2 cm Tues when I go back.
We went to dh's family reunion today it was a fun time they through us a baby shower - we got some really neat things that were on our registery that no one else has gotten us yet.
I also got a wonderful box of goodies from Ramona & Kristine (another cc'er) today such a great surprise .... yall are soooo awesome. Bailey is definately one spoiled baby girl.
Hope everyone is having a great Memorial weekend. I am SOOOO glad it is a 3 day weekend for me.

Thank you everyone for your nice words about Alex. And thank you for your encouragement as far as breast feeding goes.
Question - How often should I be pumping each day? If I increase the amount of times I do it a day, will my milk production then increase, too? It is all so confusing. I'm feeding Alex my milk along with formula for now. I'm hoping it will all work out so I don't have to have the lactation consultant do a home visit. I may just find a La Leche meeting and see if they can help.

Pumping (and ultimately Breastfeeding) more signals your body to make more milk!! So pump, pump, pump! I remember in the hospital we had a bit of a routine going. They had Connor eating every 3 hours (which, actually, goes against the nature of 'feed on demand' for nursing, which is ideal). So here's what our routine was for a while - he'd wake up. I'd change him. Then feed him. Then cuddle him for a bit... then put him down and go pump whatever I could pump. In the initial weeks I was hooked up to the pump probably 5-6 times/day for about 20 min. at a time. Major time consuming, but so worth it! :)
Other ways to get (and keep!) your supply up - drink lots of water, eat oatmeal (cookies, hot cereal, etc). Stay away from anything with peppermint or sage. Drink Mother's Milk Tea (natural food stores will carry a variety of this sort of tea to help stimulate milk production). Take Fenugreek (I never tried this but have heard of LOTS of people who swear by it!)
You can also get a prescription for something to help increase your milk supply. I took it for a month or two early on -- I can't remember what it's called (but I wouldn't be of much help to you because it's called something different here in Canada, I believe).
Keep trying to get him to latch on at EVERY feed...he WILL ge the hang of it - you just have to be persistent. Yes, DEFINITELY find a LLL meeting to get advice, but also a lactation consultant visit could be a good thing right now.
Also, don't get down on using formula -- it's not 'ideal' if you wanted to only give your little guy breast milk. But don't get down on yourself if you're having a hard time keeping up -- because ANY amount of BM is a good thing. the more, the better...but even just a couple ounces a day is a HUGE benefit to your baby (and is especially important for these early little guys!)
And, like you have time to read books....but a REALLY good book on BFing with good, practical advice and info that written in a really friendly, personal manner (not so much like a dry "users guide"), I totally recommend the book "So that's what they're for" by Janet Tamaro. It's an indexed book, so you don't have to read the whole thing from start to finish since time is of the essence for you -- just go to the back and look up your most important topics.
Anyway, go to the BFing thread here on CC... I think Marisa is involved there, and she's probably the best source of info and encouragement on BFing and the difficulties you're facing. :)

Sarah, Congratulations! Your baby is absolutely precious! I agree with all the points that connorsmommy's mommy made about b'fing. I nursed my first son for almost about 1.5 years and it wasn't always easy especially working full-time, but it was worth it!
I can't believe I'm still here! I've been "stuck" at 4cm since last Tuesday. I've had pretty regular contractions and I think I've started back labor but not strong enough to go into the hospital. It was funny because we thought for sure that I was going to have the baby within 48 hours so my DH sent out an Out of Office reply to everyone but then nothing happened so he ended up showing up to work the next day. The comment "You're still here?!" is all too familiar!
Anybody else have horrible insomina? I usually sleep pretty well but now that I'm getting so close to having the baby, I find myself getting up all the time and not being able to go back to sleep. :rolleyes:
Hope you all have a nice, long weekend! Sending healthy L&D vibes to us all!

Sarah Alex is indeed a cutie!! I just want to add my voice to the encouragement for bfing. Connorsmommy covered just about everything and is certainly the voice of experience with a premie. Have you had anyone explain to you how to encourage a proper latch? I know the early ones have some trouble just knowing how to suck so this info may me too early yet, but this is how it was explained to me: Hold the back of his head in your hand and tickle his cheek with your nipple. Once he opens his mouth wide, shove his mouth onto your entire nipple--areola and all. Then, make sure his lips look like "fish lips" --curved out not tucked in. You can use your thumb to untuck the lower lip if needed. This technique will get the whole nipple in the mouth and position it so that the baby sucks properly. A good latch helps prevent nipple pain for the mom and blisters and poor suction for the baby.
Congratulations again on your little man!
We are out of here in an hour or so for camping. Funny how a one night camping trip takes almost as much work as a week long one:rolleyes:

and while we're on the topic of pumping/nursing enabling the production of more milk, thought it might be fitting here to mention especially to all the first-time nursers that, as you know, your baby will go through certain growth spurt periods (commonly 3 weeks, 3 months, etc) and suddenly it will seem like baby will want to eat ALL the time and you will perhaps begin to think that you aren't producing enough milk. You will likely be told by many well-meaning people (friends, family, doctor) that you should supplement with formula. However, this is doing a total disservice to your BFing and your milk supply because your baby NEEDS to nurse more to signal your body to produce more milk because your baby needs larger servings. So introducing formula at these critical times is not a good idea if you want nursing to continue -- the more formula given to baby, the less your body will produce.
That is why, in your case especially, Sarah, to continue to pump pump pump as much as you can since your body isn't getting those signals directly from your DS yet. Just keep at it - trying to latch him (now that he's "full term", he's probably going to figure it out VERY soon!), and pumping as much as you can, even if pumping doesn't produce very much BM (just remember that babies are far more efficient pumps than an electric contraption can ever be - so don't get discouraged if your pumping efforts yield very little results).

sarah Thanks for the pic of your gorgeous boy!! Good luck with the BF'ing.
I did the dumbest thing today. I just spent 4 hours in the Maternity Triage unit at the hospital to pay for it. I took a quick trip to the supermarket to get some stuff for tommorrow (we're just having a few family members over). I grabbed a cart, and was pushing it through the door when it got caught on the door frame or something. I was totally not paying attention, so when the cart stopped, I kept going. I completely smashed my belly into the cart handle. HARD. It knocked the breath out of me for a second and it hurt. I kind of bounced off of it. I don't even know how I ran into it as hard as I did. I called my dr's office and the doc called me back and sent me to the hospital just to be safe. They were concerned about the placenta, so they checked it with an u/s, I had bloodwork to check for hemorraging (sp?), and I was hooked up to the contraction and baby heartbeat monitors. They gave me the all clear. They basically thought everything would be okay, but sent me in just to be safe. On the upside, I got another U/S! He is still a boy! I will be taking it much easier for the rest of my pregnancy. It was a dumb, klutzy incident, but it scared me.

I am having to pump too because H is so early he having trouble latching too. We try out the breast shield once or twice a day but most of the time I bottle feed him with breastmilk. I haven't used any formula in days! I pray to God he starts bf'ing soon, it's so time consuming pumping and I'm so tired. My supply isn't that great either. I can only get 2-3 oz at a time and that's just enough for his next feeding so I don't have a supply built up at all. I got some Fenugreek but haven't started taking it yet. I'll let you all know how well it works. Other than the bf'ing issues we are doing great and I am in L-O-V-E!

So, he tells me with his adjustment, he gives me "3 days, MAX." He says he guarantess that I won't make it to June 2nd. :) LOL, I didn't ask about a money-back guarantee... LOL!!!
So, that, combined with the fact that my massage therapist (who works at my chiro's office) decided earlier this spring that baby would arrive on May 31 (based on the fact that I have a massage scheduled for that afternoon), we shall see how this transpires.
I've been losing bigger chunks of my plug over the past couple of days. Wouldn't be surprised if it was all gone already. And earlier this morning, I looked in the mirror and I think it looks like baby has dropped some...

Oh wow Shaq ... That nursery is awesome - It does look like it is straight out of a magazine. Your baby is very lucky. Love you belly shot - you look great.
I can not believe it will be June on Thurs. :eek:
my dh & ds have gone out of town til Fri. so I have been telling Bailey to hang out in there atleast til Sat. :) I go back to the doctor tomorrow so we shall see if their is any change since last Tues.
Hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day!

Thanks for the compliments ladies, I think I'll keep him ;).
Kaeden's-Wanted to tell you my "morning sickness" ended as soon as I gave birth, yahoo!!!!
And I only gained 11 lbs due to the M/S so if my scale at home is right I am 15 lbs below my PP weight which was also my delivery weight! I have a JELLY BELLY tho. Thank you breastfeeding! I think that is really helping with the weight.

holy carp! Another June baby is here (to one of our members here, but it's not me...)!!!!!
I just know barebones details right now (it's someone on my FL on LJ) but it sounds like it's the wildest birth story by far....
I'll wait for her to come in here and make the announcement and tell her story.... I for one can't wait to hear this birth story!!!

thanks for the compliments on the belly shots and the nursery ladies....i really appreciate it:) the nursery was a big accomplishment for us since we did everything on our own. i'm really proud of dh cos he had to basically work out of something from my head! poor guy!
last night had to have been the worst i've had since i've been pregnant and its not even pregnancy related - its this darn cold:( i was up every hour, barely able to breathe. i havent been able to eat much and i'm trying to get liquids down but thats like mission impossible as well:( i'm at my wits end. i dont mind if it was just a cough but its not, its a miserable cold - I JUST WANT TO BREATHE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD :mad:
pink hayden is such a cutie....so tiny! i bet its like having your own little doll.
mystikal we actually got the bedding from Carousel Designs, but it can be ordered from babybedding.com. we went to the actual store where they make the bedding and got it even cheaper.
connors i hope the chiro treatment and the massage really help! and pls dont leave us hanging about this other June baby! i have a feeling its Astrl since u last mentioned her being on your LJ list...am i right?
i'm off to take a nap - hope u all are having a nice relaxing monday afternoon.

LOL... all I'll tell you is that its someone who was over 38 weeks but not expecting to go when she did. :)
She says she'll be back in her LJ tonight to post the wild birth story there... I've asked her to make sure she pops in here to share the news here too... if she doesn't by tomorrow, I'll spill the name & birthdate of her baby. But since this one will probably take the cake as the craziest birth story in our entire June thread, I think it only fair that she gets the honour of revealing herself and sharing her story! :)

I don't have time to type out the whole story now, but here are the high points (copied from my LJ):
After an incredibly fast labor and delivery, Samuel Edward was born in our bedroom at home with the aid of several EMTs, firefighters and police officers on Sunday morning (May 28) at approximately 6:42AM. After transferring to a local hospital, he weighed in at 7 pounds, 13 ounces and 20.5 inches. We came home this morning and we're both doing great.
Hopefully tonight or tomorrow I'll be back with the detailed story and a picture. It was a wild ride!

Sorry for not updating in a while ladies. I'm still hanging in here at 38w1d now. Nothing much new to report. Was told at my last appointment/checkup that the baby is/was in a posterior position so I've been leaning forward, getting down on hands and knees to encourage it to spin around and nesting like crazy since so haven't been posting online much.

Hello All :D
CONGRATS ORANGE & SAMUEL :D :D Delivered at home, that means no drugs :eek: YOU GO GIRL!!!
Quick Update:
Things are going good, but Brian has also been home all weekend to keep Nikolas busy. I am still attached to the pump every 3 hours :/ I can't wait to get an electric one soon. It will make it so much easier.
Troi is doing good. We went to the ped on Sat for a weight check. Although he lost 14 oz from birth to Wed, he gained back 11 oz. My little man eats between 2 & 4 oz a feeding. But BM doesn't fill them up like formula so it's all good. As long as he's gaining.
Nikolas has decided to change his nap legnth from 3 hours down to 2 :/ I used to take naps when he did, but now I have to pump or Troi is awake :/ I have to get them on the same schedule, quick.
Other than that, I'm still in love with this little boy. Just as much as Nikolas. Didn't think it was possible, but it is, you can love more than one person at a time :)
Well I'm outta here. We are supposed to be taking Nikolas to a carnival that's in town, that's if I can stay awake :/

I have an u/s to check the baby's size tomorrow morning at 8:30. That will determine if I can deliver on my own or if I have to have a C-section. It might also determine if I will be induced. I honestly don't feel like I am that big, so I don't think his size is going to come into play.
Following the u/s, I have another NST.
Then at 10:30 I have an OB appt. I don't think I am going to have her check me. She said she will only do it if she has reason to or if I ask and since I was 60% effaced and still closed up tight last week, I don't think I will ask this time. I'm actually glad that nothing happened this weekend since I am curious about the size. I suppose if he is getting a little big, they will induce me, which I guess is better than a C-section. Otherwise, I will just hang out until it all begins! My last day of work is Wednesday so I am super excited about that!!
We pre-registered on Friday and took a tour of the maternity ward. Nothing too exciting. Filled out a hospital birth plan so now I just have to print out my own and bring it in for additional wishes.
I still have some things to do in the nursery and some things to buy, and I have to pack my bag yet. The baby's bag is ready to go. I hope I can get everything done before I go into labor!
Hope you girls all have a nice Tuesday! Yay for short weeks! :)

36w6d Full Term tomorrow!!!
Bottle and Pump part sterilization If you do not have a stand alone sterilizer, what did you do to sterilize your bottles and pump parts? Boil them, put in dishwasher, just hand wash? I'm not a big germ-a-phobe so I was thinking of doing an initial sterilization and then maybe once a week or once a month after that.

Good morning!
Up bright and early to say goodbye to DH as he leaves for work. Finally had a much better night's sleep last night (which I must say makes a huge difference in my day) and am feeling pretty good today *knock wood*
I have my weekly M/W appointment today at 12:30pm. Should be interesting to see what comes of it. I'm anxious to know if I've made any progress, I'm anxious to get them to do the stretch & sweep and, after alot of thought and debate, I'm anxious to hear their thoughts on induction.
It would seem that our baby is a 'fairly' good size baby. I'm worried that if he stays put for another two weeks (which is very likely based on my mother and my sister's pregnancies) he will just continue to gain...and I don't feel like I have alot more room in there.
I'm also getting VERY UNCOMFORTABLE...I can't find a good position to sit or lie in anymore, my fingers have started going numb (I think it's Carpal Tunnel Syndrome...Maryanne ~ How you've dealt with this for so long is beyond me...it's awful, but just started for me) and we've decided that I shouldn't be driving anymore, so I'm stuck at home unless I can get someone to drive me.
So DH and I think, depending on what progress I've already made, that we should talk to the M/W about doing an induction this coming weekend, if possible. It's not my ideal situation, but I really don't want to be PG for another two weeks and then find out I need to be induced. I guess we will see later today.
Other than that...I'm all ready for this baby. I don't need a single thing, and even when browsing the stores, I can't find a single thing I need to buy. I didn't think that was possible.
I also bought a really neat bottle system yesterday that I'm hoping arrives before the baby is born. Due to my previous breast reduction surgery, I'm worried that I will have to supplement the baby, but I've heard so much about nipple confusion, only taking the bottle, etc. that I was worried about it. After watching a neat show on Discovery (The Baby Whisperer which is actually from the UK) where she frequently recommends The Haberman Feeder by Medela to most new mothers, I was able to find a local store (out of our children's hospital actually) that sells it. So I bought it, in hopes that it will help our experience. May not be necessary, but at least it's a better option (lot's of benefits to this bottle over another one, based on what I've read...it's originally made for babies born with cleft palates and has a valve system in it to help regulate flow, just like a mother's nipple!)
Anyway, sorry to ramble on...lot's to say today I guess. I'm a little excited and a little anxious about today and hitting 40 weeks. I feel like I've accomplished someting, yet I'm now ready for it to be over!
Orange ~ Congrats on the birth of SAMUEL! I can't wait to read the story too, sounds so exciting.
Dan's Girl ~ Just in case I don't get back here today (spending the day and evening at my parent's) GOOD LUCK for TOMORROW with your INDUCTION! I'm sure we will all be thinking about you.
DS ~ We actually bought the AVENT System and got the Microwave Sterilizer with it. Had we not though, I think I would probably be boiling my bottles, nipples, etc. From what I've read (although I'd have to double check) five minutes in boiling water will sterilize anything. I don't know if I would trust my dishwasher (it's older and I question the amount of soap residue left) What I'm not sure about boiling for sterilization, is how you are supposed to let things dry while keeping them sterile...must ask my mom that question. And I will probably sterilize all the time (I think we currently have about 12 bottles) for the first few months, should the bottles be necessary...just because I feel better that way!
BabyLust ~ Good luck today at your U/S and NST. I hear you on the big baby thing, although I do think mine is on the bigger side. I'm debating the induction now too...but will take the M/W's advice too. Hopefully it's good news for both of us today!
Nikos ~ Glad things are going well with Niko and Troi! You sound so great and so in love. It's very nice to see!
Okay, that's it for me, I've shot my mouth long enough and now my fingers are aching. Have a great day everyone!

MrsBrownie – I hope you get the news you want to hear at your appt today. I know what you mean about not really needing anything else. There are things that I will need later, but right now we are fine with what we have. Too bad you aren’t driving anymore; I hope you have drivers available when you need them. DH better not even think about suggesting that to me.
Graffy – good luck at your appt today.
Sterilzing – I’m thinking I’ll just hand wash the parts and then put them in the dishwasher alone on the sanitizing setting without dishwashing detergent. That should be quick and easy. The microwave sterilizer would be ideal, but I really don’t want to have to find a home for another kitchen gadget.

This thread is so exciting lately!
Congratulations to all the new Moms and babies!!! :D
Shaq: Both you and the nursery look great!
Orange & Samuel: Looking forward to hearing your story!
I'm so busy with work but wanted to stop by before I get even more behind in this thread.
These last few days have been hard for me. I swear I've only complained about the downside of pregnancy in this thread--I've been able to be completely upbeat and positive most of the time IRL. But I had a hard time containing my emotion this weekend. I completely lost it on Sunday morning. I'm tired of being pregnant. I'm at the point in my pregnancy that being pregnant is affecting everything--getting dressed, cleaning, sleeping. For many, many months I was able to continue on with my life pretty much unchanged. Now everything is about this big old belly. It gets to be too much sometimes.
In any case, a few hours of alone time on the couch have helped me regain my sanity....though I'm still ready to call it quits in terms of work and I'm so hoping I leave my OB appointment tomorrow with news that I'm progressing!
In other news, my shower is this upcoming weekend. Even though I've been stressing about how I'm going to clean my house in time for my weekend guests to arrive, I'm so looking forward to seeing my family and friends! I was bad and checked out my registry...A LOt of things were purchased. Yahoo! :D
Okay. Back to work. Hope everyone is doing well!!!

her movements have changed- still there but different. enough to make me worry but not enough to make me call the doctor. . . yet.
I feel the same way. I'm not feeling nearly the amount or strength of movement in the past 2 weeks, but it's still there. Sometimes the only thing I notice now is that the baby is in a different position than a few hours earlier. I'm not sure if it's because I've been so busy, or if the baby is running out of room, but it's making me crazy. I'll mention it at my appt on Thursday.
Orange: Glad everything went OK despite all the excitement. Fill us in when you get a chance.

37 Weeks 1 Day
I can't believe I've reached this point! I'm getting super excited. Everyone assumes that I can't wait and I must be sick of being pregnant. While I wouldn't say I want to stay this way forever, I'm fine with still being PG and whenever he wants to come is okay. We'll see if I'm still saying that if I hit 40 weeks+. I think my weight gain has finally stopped. My feet, hands, and legs are so swelled up, though, that I feel like they're going to pop.
sterliizing I registered for a sterilizer and have sterilized all of my bottles and their parts, as well as pacifiers. I'm not sure how often I'll do it. I'm not really thrilled with the performance of my dishwasher, so I'll probably use the sterilizer pretty often. I would just run the bottles on their own on the sterile cycle, but I don't like the idea of using so much water- running the dishwasher for regular dishes and then seperately for bottles. I'm thinking I'll just run them with my dishes, then use the sterilizer. I got a cute little dishwasher basket at Walmart by Munchkin that is designed to hold smaller bottle parts. There are special spaces for nipples, collars, and even for the straw-type parts that are in the Dr. Brown's bottles. It's such a cool little thing and I think it was only about $2.
shaq Hope you feel better soon.
amurphy Enjoy your friends and family this weekend! I hope you get all of your cleaning done. Don't stress yourself too much about it. I've found that if I don't have time to *really* clean, just having things neat and orderly makes people think your house is spotless. I'm glad a few hours on the couch made you feel better. We are getting to such an emotional and physically tough point- it's understandable to have a breakdown. I hope your shower this weekend makes you feel better, too. You'll be so busy organizing all of your gifts next week that you won't have time to think about being sick of being PG.
dansgirl I can understand your nervousness! Good luck! I will be thinking of you.
Good luck also to Ruby and Kaeden'smommy coming up on Friday! I can't wait to hear Orange's story!

Ramona: I know you are sooo nervous & excited at the same time. Hugs to you sweetie! I agree with what Kristine said in your journal - once you put that little/big boy upon your chest after delivery - all those labor memories will go away. I still remember that labor with andrew hurt but I do not remember the pain - I will be waiting to hear something from you or Dan.
Dr update: They could not find her heartbeat with the doppler so I had to go to the non-stress room (as they call it) and be hooked up to the belt that checks the babies heartbeat during labor - as soon as they hooked me up to it - they heard it no problem ... the doctor said she was head down but facing towards the front - that is why the heartbeat was hard to get. I was 1/2 cm dialate last week & this week I am 1 1/2 to 2 cm ... he said cervix is still hard so nothing should happen this week (woohoo cause dh & ds are out of town til Friday)
my next appt. is Tues June 6th

Dan's GirlWow! Tomorrow is the big day! I'm very excited for you!!!
shaqangelSorry to hear your so sick. I know how you feel. I caught a head cold and right away it turned into a sinus infection. (I heard thats commone with pregnant women) I've been sick since last Tuesday and STILL AM! I'd do anything to be able to breathe! The doc put me on antibiotics. Amoxacylin (sp?). Its a very mild one and doesn't work that great. Its taking my body forever to fight this off. :( I now have a cough to add to this lovely stuffy head, and stuffy nose. Lots of chest congestion. No fun. Hopefully we'll be feeling better soon!!!!! I've been taking Robitussim chest congestion which has really helped loosen things up. I was also told I can take Tylenol Cold and Sudafed. But so far the Robitussm (sp?) is working the best. And I've been putting some Vicks liquid stuff inside my humidifier at night. That helps a little. But I still wake up constantly. Last Thursday night I only got an hour of sleep! So Friday my boss sent me home. Hope your doc gets back to you soon!!!!

I realized I never filled this out:
ME: Jen-25
DH: Erik-26
Married: May 22, 2004
BFP: Oct. (don't have the date off hand)
EDD: June 17th
Its a girl. Her name is Taylor!
Other than this stupid sinus infection I'm feeling pretty good! But I am getting tired of the "your still here" remarks like many of you are. Its getting frustrating! My 38 week appointment is June 3rd.
Right now everything seems so surreal that I'm this far along!!! Its strange! I can't wait to meet this little princess but yet I want my sinus infection to go away 100% before she gets here. I don't want to be sick when she is born.
Have you all been super tired? I'm so sleepy lately! I think maybe its because I'm sick but maybe its the pregnancy also. I find at about 6 I can barely keep my eyes open. Maybe its the fact that I wake up every hour to pee and blow my nose. Who knows!

Had my appt this morning. U/S went fine.. baby is approximately 7lbs 15oz (15% error margin) and everything looked fine.
I didn't eat anything before my NST so baby was sleeping soundly. They got me some ice water and that woke him up enough to get the test over with.
BP was high today.. no blurred vision or anything though so just need to watch that. Didn't request an internal since I haven't had contractions or anything.
I have an induction date set for 6/12 if I don't go on my own. That would put me at 40w 4d, which I am fine with.
Next appt my dr will strip my membranes and see if that does anything. I am still going to try to induce myself naturally, but we still have quite a bit to do around the house before I head to the hospital so part of me is glad nothing is happening, and the other part of me is discouraged and disappointed. I think I put too much stock in hitting full term! :rolleyes: :o

I am back from the doc's. My pressure is only down two points (degrees??) from last time. I guess it is still pretty high. 144/82. he drew blood for tests for pre-eclampsia and wants me back in a week. He freaked when he saw how swollen my feet and hands are and they are a nice purple-ish blue color. He scheduled me to come back next week, but it may be earlier depending on the test results.
Funny thing is that I feel great! The improvement in general conditions started right around when my blood pressure started getting high.---strange correalation but it is the truth...hmmmmm :O)
love to ya all.

Congrats Orange. Can you say CRAZY!
Sarah-I am so tired, you got my drift tho! I aint' talkin' 'bout nobody's mama!
jbenny-I already almost can't remember what the big belly felt like. It feels good to be free of it tho, I don't knock stuff over with it anymore! ;)
Shaq-He is just like a baby doll. That's exactly what I say about him.
I am off to read the rest of the replies. I just wanted to respond while I can remember who to respond to!

Back from my doctor's appointment. When I told him I didn't want to be induced (at least not yet) he said "GOOD! The c-section rate is too high anyway." So that was very good news to me and took a serious load off my back. :) He's willing to go by this Friday as my due date, and we'll just continue to watch the baby.
Unfortunately, I still haven't had any change in progress! :( Proof that my body is not ready to be induced, I guess, but still kind of sad. I'm hoping I'm one of those people who go from nothing to 10 in a day's time, but we'll see. It was mid-90s and humid here over the weekend (read: HUGE feet), but now it's supposed to cool back down so hopefully I can get out and walk and get this baby movin!
Dan'sGirl, Ruby, Babylust, and Kaeden's- best wishes on your upcoming inductions! And please don't think I'm against inductions, I'm just against them for ME because I'm afraid at this point it would lead to an unnecessary c-section. You all have definite reasons to be induced.
Okay, I'm going home now. Have a nice evening everyone.

Graffy ~ Great news to hear your doctor is on the same page you are! Sorry you haven't progressed at all. I know many who don't start progressing until labor starts. I, for one, am not at all offended by the fact that you don't want to be induced. I do not want to either and I am a little worried about needing a c-section but since the docs think it's best for the baby so be it. I'm sending labor vibes your way!!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and good luck to the other ladies being induced and also to those due very soon. I'm heading home from work now and will be doing last minute cleaning to the house and myself before tomorrow and wont be on again until at least the weekend.
HUGS to you all and Sunshine will hopefully be here soon with good news.

Yay for another checkup today! I haven't been in 1.5 weeks because there was no real reason to go. My blood pressure was slightly lower last visit, baby's heartrate was good and apart from him/her being posterior there was nothing much else to monitor so they put me off visiting for a few days.
Dan's Girl--All the best!! I hope the induction goes well and can't wait to meet your little boy!
shaq--Hope the dr can give you something to help ease this cold....don't know if you want to hear this old wives tale or not but apparently some women swear that getting a bad cold was one of the first signs that labour was not far away!!
Graffy--WOOHOO! I'm so happy for you!
JenB.--Totally with you on feeling tired! I love crawling into bed each night and clocking out for a few hours sleep before being awoken by a sore muscle, bladder, blocked nose etc etc. :)
shouldaeloped and jay&erin--I noticed a change in the baby's movements lately as well and mentioned them to my midwife. She said that it's very common for their movements to feel less strong etc now since they're running out of room but that we SHOULD notice movements and if/when the baby starts moving at some point stop and if you can count around 10 distinct movements then that's classified as all is A-OK. So, if I go for a few hours and haven't felt much movement when the babe does start moving after a meal or when I change position or whatever I'll just stop and count 10 moves and it usually does 10 really close together.
Well, I'm looking forward to hearing how ruby gets on soon! And orange come and put us out of suspense!! :)
Not much to do around here. Am going to spend a few hours sorting out wedding photos today. DH bought me this AWESOME handmade in NZ wooden photo album for our anniversary so I'm currently trying to get all the photos into it nicely....hard to pick what to put in and what to leave out!
Have a great day/night whatever it is where you are.

Good Luck to the inducees this week!!!!
Graffy - I'm glad your doctor is with you on not rushing to the induction since it isn't needed yet. I'm feeling well and my BP has been okay lately so I'm hoping I won't need one myself.
shaqangel - hope you feel better soon.
movements - I had a funny movement today. It felt like a strong flutter. I'm not sure what he is doing in there.

hmmmm, just thought that I would share some of my search results on what the vampires are loking for when they sucked my blood testing for preeclampsia...I figure that it is good to keep on record incase any one else is going thru the tests later.
Blood and urine tests are used to assess the extent and severity of the disease and to reveal the degree of impaired kidney function. Blood tests provide important diagnostic information, including the following:
Low red blood cell levels indicate the occurrence of haemolysis (destruction of red blood cells).
Low platelet levels reveal consumption due to clotting.
Raised levels of liver enzymes in the blood are a sign of liver impairment.
If blood tests reveal low levels of red blood cells and platelets, as well as high levels of liver enzymes, then a pregnant woman is said to have HELLP syndrome (Haemolysis, Elevated Liver Enzymes, Low Platelets). HELLP syndrome is a complication of severe pre-eclampsia
and
A woman who may have signs of early or mild preeclampsia will have her blood tested to detect additional signs of preeclampsia. A woman who has preeclampsia may have specific blood tests to help assess her health.
Uric acid. Increased uric acid in the blood is often the earliest laboratory finding related to preeclampsia. Uric acid is a waste product formed from the breakdown of some protein-rich foods and the breakdown of cells in the body. It is normally filtered from the blood by the kidneys. However, if the kidneys have been damaged by preeclampsia, uric acid levels in the blood may rise.
Hematocrit. A high hematocrit value can be a sign of preeclampsia. Hematocrit tells the percentage of red blood cells in the blood—a hematocrit value of 42 means that red blood cells make up 42% of the blood volume. A normal hematocrit value for a nonpregnant woman is between 36% and 44%. During pregnancy, the hematocrit value normally decreases—the fluid in the blood (plasma) increases, making red blood cells less concentrated. However, preeclampsia often causes the body's tissues to absorb blood plasma. The blood becomes more concentrated, resulting in an abnormally high hematocrit value.
Platelets. The number of platelets in the blood may be measured. Preeclampsia often causes an abnormally low platelet count.
Partial thromboplastin time (PTT). This is a measure of the time it takes blood to clot. Preeclampsia can cause problems with blood clotting that increase the partial thromboplastin time.
Electrolytes. Examples of important electrolytes include sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, and chloride. The amounts of electrolytes in the body may change if preeclampsia is causing kidney damage or is causing fluid to leak out of blood vessels into surrounding tissues (edema).
Kidney function tests. These tests check the amount of certain substances found in the blood that are normally removed from the body by the kidneys. These substances, which include blood urea nitrogen and creatinine, increase in the blood if the kidneys have been damaged. (For more information, see the medical test called Creatinine and Creatinine Clearance.)
Liver function tests. These tests monitor enzymes that indicate how well the liver is working.

Had my weekly appt today with the GBS test. As the doctor (not my regular dr) went to measure me and check the heartbeat she nonchalantly says "so I talked with your dr last week after your appointment and we decided we will induce you on the 20th." This was kind of a big shock to me because induction had never even been mentioned before. I mean, I knew it was a possibility because of the GD, but still. I looked at her and said "what?" She repeated the word induction very slowly like I was hard of hearing. :rolleyes: So I asked her why and she said because of the GD, and the chances of a larger baby, and a complicated delivery, etc. Funny, last week she was yelling because I'd lost another pound and now she's telling me I'm going to have such a big baby that they need to induce me. :mad: I had already been there for an hour and had time at work I needed to make up so I didn't get a chance to really talk to her about it, but I am definitely talking to my doctor at my next appointment on Monday. I so don't want an induction. I mean, if it's what is best then I'll do it, obviously, but I would like to have a chance for her to come on her own. *sigh* I'll at least ask my doctor if we can try something other than the pitocin first. Stripping membranes, prostaglandin gel, anything. I DO NOT want medication if it's not necessary.
I guess what really bothered me was the way she told me. No "this is what we're thinking, this is why, how do you feel about it?" Basically just "this is what we're doing. Period." It made me feel like they were totally discounting my feelings and what I wanted.
On the up side, my blood pressure was normal - 102/60. Much lower than last time. Also, if they do induce me on the 20th, that means I'll be able to have birthday cake on my birthday (the 28th) and not have to worry about my sugar levels. :D (See, I'm trying to be optimistic...)
Congrats to everyone that had good appointments today.

maryanne - I had similar testing done 2 weeks ago when there was protein in my urine and my BP was high. Everything came back fine although my platelet count was on the low side. It was rechecked last week. I haven't heard anything so the number must have been fine. I hope your results come back with no issues.

Mystikal ~ Sorry the doctor dropped such a bomb on you. Definitely talk to your doctor on Monday to see the reasoning for setting an induction so far in advance - it's still 3 weeks away. What's the rush?!
Seriously, girls, what is it with these doctors?! Don't they realize it's our body and our baby and we should probably have some say (or at least be educated) about what's going to happen?

Looks like I'll be joining the early baby group! I had my Dr. appt today, and the baby is still breech. I opted not to do the manual version, based on my doctor didn't feel very optomistic about it being succesful due to size/amount of fluid. So, I have a C- section scheduled for June 9th! unless of course I go into labor before then!! I'd really like to at least go into labor on my own, even if I have to have the section for medical reasons. Nursery is almost done, but 10 days away makes it very real!!!
Good luck to all those having inductions this week, and late congratulations to Orange and Sameul!

Induction: I had a doc appt this morning and he said that he wanted to induce me on Friday. There was no medical reason for the induction so I told him I'd rather wait. As of this morning, I'm still stuck at 4cm. I'm at 38 weeks, 3 days so I still have some time to let nature take its course. My feeling is that when the baby decides to come, he will come quickly! I just hope it will be natural. Hmm...maybe I will have June baby after all! ;)

Thanks for the support, ladies.
Amanda when I had my u/s back on May 10 they said she was measuring at about 5lbs 2ozs, give or take 12ozs. I don't know if they were planning on doing another one or not.
ds as far as I can tell the only reason they want to induce is the GD. That's one of the reasons I can't wait to talk to my doc on Monday.
jcharley it does make it very real when you have a tangible date, doesn't it? Wow...ten days. Crazy!!!

Quick Post...
In case I don't make it back soon, GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE BEING INDUCED :D I'm sorry I don't remember individuals by name, but everything lately is a blur. You will all soon know what I mean :D
Mystikal Unfortunately, short of the baby coming on its own, they will have to induce you due to the GD. It's due to the size and something about the lungs after so many weeks, sorry I don't remember exactly what though. However, the dr didn't have to be so rude about it :mad:
Sorry I can't s.o. to anyone else. I have to get some sleep AFTER I take a shower, set up my stuff for my late night feeding, do dishes and more laundry :/ Yeah, sleep, what is that :rolleyes:

As for me... Nothing new in the baby dept. Still crampy at times of the day, get some BH here and there but no real signs of labor approaching. We are trying though! DH is full on board with ahem (softening my cervix). I am eating pineapple as I type and will do some squats when I am done catching up.
My temp/replacement came in today and she is excellent!! She is a student at BYU in Utah but lives here locally during the summer and actually went to jr. high with my lil brother. I also talked to my boss (queen of HR) and she told me that I should get an offer letter next week for that sales job I applied for. There is a huge conference this week and the hiring manager is already out of town. I will shadow with one of the girls in that dept tomorrow just to get a better idea of the job so that I won't feel completely clueless on my first day.
Well although I am busy, I will be sneaking in here while my temp is on breaks and I will atleast try to do a fly by post every other day or so to say whether or not lil Collin is here.
DH went to bed early so I will have to take another belly shot tomorrow- BTW- Shaq you look great!! You are glowing and I am so jealous of your stretch mark free belly! Also the nursery is adorable!
Oh- I also have an u/s next Monday on the 5th! I can't wait to get another sneak peak at Collin. I am really lucky and have a doctor that likes to avoid inductions/ internals and anything else that is unneccesary. He is all for my all natural attempt and is supporting me all the way. We'll have to see if that changes on Monday during my u/s.

I just got caught up on 5 pages and from the looks of all the inductions, I'm going to be one of the last June Mommies to go...okay, it's a little bit of a stretch, but going from one of the first to probably middle of the month SUCKS!
I had my appointment yesterday and it was just as I figured. The baby is still WAY UP HIGH and although my cervix is soft, he's just not ready to come out. I was just over a fingertip dilated, but my midwife couldn't reach to do the stretch and sweep.
I'm a little discouraged, but I figured this would happen. My mom was 3 weeks overdue with me, and MIL was 5 weeks overdue with DH...so I figure this is retribution to the both of us for putting our mothers through H*LL.
So I go back to the Midwives next Tuesday, for my 41 Week appointment, at which time we will try to schedule the induction. They like to do a BPP before induction at 41W3D, but I really don't want another ultrasound, so I'm hoping we can schedule induction with the BPP. It probably won't happen until at least next Friday (June 9th) but it's all dependent on the hospital.
I just wanted to say GOOD LUCK to all the ladies being induced Today, Tomorrow and Friday. Wishing you all speedy and easy deliveries. Wish I could be one of you (to deliver) but I think I'm a little ways away.
Gaffy ~ Just because we were due date buddies and in the same boat, I'm going through the exact same thing as you. Clearly this baby is not ready to come out of me yet and I'm glad that they are waiting at least another week to talk about induction. The selfish side of me wants the baby to come now, but I know it's better if he stays put until ready (or they decide the need to evict him for safety.) Good luck to you, can't wait to hear if your labour starts on it's on.
DS ~ I've just stepped up the natural induction methods. The M/W told me to use the Evening Primrose Oil Caplet internally. Luckily I have one of those wands (from a Canesten pack) that I can really get it up inside...hopefully it helps. Plus DTD (which DH is all for if it helps move this baby along,) a nice ripe Pineapple, Raspberry Leaf Tea...the only thing not possible at the moment is walking (due to the Heat and now the Rain!) Any other suggestions?
Okay, I'm off...our water is being shut off and I'm spending the day with my mother. Not sure if that's good or bad, as she's an emotional basket case right now, waiting for this baby to come!

Full Term today 37 weeks
I’ve hit my penultimate milestone. The last, of this pregnancy journey, is the birth of our son. I’m so ready for labor. My June 9th deadline has been moved to June 30th to accommodate some updates the customer wants. The baby can come whenever now because I know I won’t be here until the 30th so I’m no longer worried about making the deadline. If I can complete it early…then great. If not, then oh well.

sunshine and maryanne- I think I'll throw my name in the hat for last June baby. last visit to the doctor revealed nothing going on. still sealed up tight. she won't even think about induction until I am one week late which will be June 27th. unless there are problems, of course. so I am pushing July timeframes! all I know is that I am READY!
we are in full preparation mode at work for my maternity leave, DH has instructed me to pack my hospital bag this weekend since I haven't done that yet. . . I am just in denial that she is really coming soon!!! ack- I have been waiting so long for this, I can't believe it's here!
astrldec- thanks for the suggestion on feeling more comfortable with her movement. I had just eaten dinner when I read that post and so I started counting and you're right. . 10 movements in what seemed like no time. calmed me right down!

Mrs Brownie - I missed your post. So far we’ve just been DTD. A ripe pineapple sounds like a great idea. I may have to hit the store on my way home. I’m not big on tea, but if it may work I can give it a try. I will have to iced tea because it is too hot for hot tea. I’m going to ask the doc tomorrow at my appt about what he suggests to gets things going. You can also try nipple stimulation and sucking your thumb. My understanding is there is a pressure point at the roof of the mouth that stimulates uterine contractions.
I have my GBS test tomorrow and the doctor wants to do an internal. We will see if the internal actually happens. This weekend is the wedding in NJ. DH and I are heading down on Friday after work. It is only a 2.5 hour drive so I’m not worried about going into labor. The baby has been very active yesterday and today. I wonder if that means anything other than he is doing well.

Jen ~ Most doctors only do the 20w u/s and will not do another unless there is a medical reason for it. I've never heard of so many of them doing u/s to check the size of the baby. I know you want to see your little girl again, but she'll be here soon and relax knowing that everything is going well with your pregnancy so they don't feel the need to do another u/s. :)
ds2003
05-31-2006, 08:29 AM
JenB – The only way I’m having an induction is if my doctor can convince me that there is a medical reason. My OB practice is pretty natural birth oriented so I don’t expect unnecessary procedures. They only do the u/s one around 20 weeks too unless there is a medical reason for another. I personally think that having an u/s for the sole purpose of checking the size isn’t a good idea especially since it isn’t that accurate. There have been many people told one thing only to have their baby born +/-2 lbs from the u/s prediction. A labor and delivery nurse even told us to assume +/- 2 lbs. If you do have an u/s to check weight, just don’t put all your eggs in that basket and I personally wouldn’t accept an induction based on it unless that is really what you want. I know a woman from my LLL meeting (thin and on the tall side) who recently homebirthed a 10lb baby. Most women can birth their babies.

Well, I just got a message (haven't really been answering the phone lately for obvious reasons..."no, the baby isn't here yet, we will call you when he is" type calls) and there was a message from my midwife.
They have booked me in for another U/S and my induction date has been booked for sometime next week...she didn't leave the date, so I'm going to have to call her.
To be honest, I think I'm going to ask not to have the U/S done. As wonderful as it is to see my baby, I had one done at 34 weeks (to check on baby's position, it was when they thought they were going to induce early and were worried that he had turned breech) and it's very hard to see anything. We were really only able to see a potion of the head and eye and his beating heart. Wasn't really worth it, in my opinion.
Plus my family is very ANTI-U/S to do the EMF radiation. I've already had four U/S to date (12 Weeks, 19 Weeks, 22 Weeks and 34 Weeks) and think that this one is unnecessary.
I'm sort of indifferent on the induction actually. My family (see a trend) is very anti-induction, especially my sister who finally delivered my nephew at 42W2D via C-Section, but the M/W's seem to think that he won't descend into the birth canal without some strong contractions, but with his head not descending, there aren't any contractions. I think be 41W3D, he will either have descended or he won't. If he hasn't, I'm all for starting with Cervadil and going from there...hoping that it won't result in a C-Section, but prepared for whatever is necessary.
And hopefully, in the meantime, I can coax him out naturally! And while I think he's big (based on what everyone has been telling me) that's not the reason for the induction. Only time will tell I suppose!

SO.....
BRADY NATHAN was delivered by c-section on Monday May 22nd at 4:20pm. He weighed 4lbs, 2.2oz and was 17 inches long. He spent the first 8 days in NICU and did really well, despite being stubborn and blowing IV's left and right. I'm doing OK but trying to recover from this surgery, which went well. I got discharged on Friday and spent the weekend going back and forth to the hospital, trying to make it back for most of his feedings every 3 hours, which was pretty tiring. He actually started breastfeeding Thursday a little bit, so we're proud that he's a healthy eater like his mom and dad. He was even taking about 80ml of milk the night before he left, then had another 35ml an hour later!
Anyways, he got discharged yesterday and now we're at home enjoying the nerve-wracking experience that is bringing home a 5-week premie. Last night's 2am feeding was rough and went for two hours of a "Is he done? Oh, nope, he's still rooting and looks hungry" sort of thing. He's adorable though...
We're exhausted but ecstatic and SO IN LOVE with our beautiful baby boy. I'm seriously a drug-filled and hormonal water faucet of emotions and crying at the drop of a hat (anyone else experience this?), and it's all good. I don't know when I'll get a chance to post again, but I'll be sure to be back soon.
Thank you all again! We're in absolute heaven over here...

Congrats Gina and welcome Brady!!
Glad to hear all is well even though it was an emergency delivery.
MrsBrownie ~ Wow! Another June momma to be induced! Keep us posted!
I'm off to my doctor appointment. I'll update after!

Mrs Brownie – I hope he descends on his own and things get moving. I’m can understand the anti-u/s argument. I’m sorta the same way. If I had to choose between induction and C-section, I would go induction all the way. I hope the turbo contractions are enough to bring him down.

gina - brady is gorgeous! congrats!!!!

just checking in....still have a cold - changed the meds per the nurse suggestion and it helped with the congestion some but its still on the bad side. Astrl if that old wives tale is good, i;ll take it! i've been having a lot of contractions the past few days. so now i've started to write them down. not so consistent but averaging about 25mins apart on and off. but they arent too long. i'm getting these shooting pains down there too and thats pretty uncomfy.
have a doc appt in the morning so will know whats really going on then!

I've been at the office so I can read but not reply. Sorry I am behind on shoutouts but I'm thinking of and cheering for each of you!
Gina Brady is adorable! You sound so happy and I am so glad Brady is in such good shape for coming so early. Yay for successful eating so far! I look forward to hearing more details when you have time. Were they right about the placenta issue?
Inductions Good luck to all who are having them. I hope each of you feel like you are a decision maker in your situation. If that is the case, you will be good with whatever outcome you have. Psssst on those rude doctors!!
I personally am anti induction unless for clear med reasons because I hope to avoid a c-section. Luckily my OB (who is a DO (Doctor of Osteopathy) not an MD and has a slightly more holistic bent than a straight MD) won't even discuss induction until 41 weeks unless there is a medical reason. Plus, I think I enjoy the endorphine rush of going into labor naturally. It is exciting each time!!
Natural induction Apparently my cervix is as soft as its gonna get according to my internal last week. But DH and I are working on keeping it that way! Hiking this past weekend produced more BH but nothing productive. I think I will start on the Raspberry leaf tea today as well. I have some low back ache but that could be from the camping trip! (we had alot of fun though!) And I have a cold too Shaq!
appointment tomorrow not sure if I will ask for an internal or not.
Basically, I have an important meeting for work on the 8th and we ordered a new Canon Digital Rebel XT (dig SLR) camera that won't arrive til the 5th, so I would like the baby to hang out until the 9th. After that, I'll be happy to have her anytime!!
Happy Wednesday to all.

Gina ~ The emotions and hormones you're feeling are completely normal for a week or 2 after giving birth. If you start feeling really sad or down make sure to talk to your doctor right away in case of post-partum depression.
I had my 38w4d appointment with my OB today. I gained a pound since last week, BP was 118/74, h/b was in the 130s, everything looks good. She did another internal and baby still isn't all that low, but she did say that's pretty common with polyhydramnios because all the fluid prevents them from dropping. I am 2 cm dilated and she thinks that starting a slow leak of amiotic fluid on Friday will allow her to drop into place and things will progress nicely from there. So, we're still on for Friday. We're going to have a June 2nd baby - at least I'm hoping she comes on the 2nd since we have to be at the hospital at 6:30am. Jared has said from the start that she would be born on the 2nd.
I will do my best to get someone to update. Otherwise I should be home on Sunday - possibly Saturday, I guess - and will update then. Please keep us in your prayers. Thanks!

Hello All :D
Another quick post...
Gina In that 2nd pix of Brady, he's got that "wait til I get older, you're in for a bumpy ride w/the ladies calling me mommy" face :D You can tell he's got a plan going already ;)
So I am EXTREMEMLY EXHAUSTED :( Whoever said 2 kids is just like having one, must have had a ton of help. It seems that they both want something at the exact same time :/ We all took a nap from 10 to 12 this morning, which I don't like to have Niko do; I prefer he take an afternoon nap so he's not grumpy by 4 or 5 o'clock. However, I was struggling just to keep my eyes open so down we went. I'm still tired. It's all catching up with me.
I hinted to Brian that I'm tired so hopefully he'll come home early.
On a good note though, we got our pool open :D I can't go in until next week but it's open :D
Ok, I'm outta here, time to pump. I'll try to be back soon.

Gina - Congratulations on your beautiful baby boy! He is such a cutie!!! Crying is totally normal the first two weeks, like Kelly wrote. My husband doesn't even ask why I'm crying anymore since I do it so often. It is frustrating to be so emotional but at least you know it is normal and will pass soon. Good luck and know you're not alone.

Gina - he's beautiful!! :) And he hardly looks like a 4 lb'er with those chubby cheeks! :D Congratulations!!
****
Well, I'm back from my 37w2d appt.
Here are the highlights...
- my BP is perfect.
- my weight is up 1 lb (boo)
- Dawson measures 37 weeks
- Dawson's HB was 150
- Internal puts me at almost 4 cm dilated. Cervix very soft (as before), and his head is VERY low. Dr. says he's so low and engaged that she can't even push him out of my pelvis right now. She says based on what I've told her about contrax and back ache, etc. that things should happen *very* soon (and if not, she'll see me next week...lol!)
Anyway, have had more contractions, cramping and some bleeding since the appt, which doesn't surprise me since I had an internal....
I have a massage appt. in a couple of hours, so that will be a nice treat! :)

gina Congratulations! Brady is beautiful! I wouldn't know yet personally, but I have heard the crying is normal.
nikosmommy You sound tired, but sooo happy!
shaq I'm getting those shooting pains, too. My OB told me it's the baby moving his head. They are super uncomfortable.
My hands and feet are soooo swollen it's not even funny. My fingers look like sausages and the skin on them is shiny b/c it's so stretched out. I hope I don't get stretch marks on my fingers :). My feet hurt when I walk on them b/c of the swelling. I have those Flinstone Feet!! Even my flip flops feel tight. I have an appt. tommorrow so I can ask my OB if it's too much swelling or not.

jbenny ~ I swelled like that when I was pg with DS. I started drinking water with lemon juice and lemons added because lemon juice is a diuretic (sp?) so it makes you pee and it did help a little. Not much, but some. Is your BP good or high?

Gina, Congratulations! Your son is adorable!!!!! Your DS looks so healthy too. Glad to hear that everyone is doing well!
Connorsmommy: It sounds like we're in the same boat --4cm, low back pain, frequent contractions, etc.. I think the doc mentioned I am 80% effaced. We're so close!
I went into work today for a meeting and no one could believe I haven't delivered yet! They described me as a walking time bomb which is probably pretty accurate. I just hope I deliver without an induction. I'm mostly working from home now.
Have a great day, ladies!

Not to worry you at all but definitely ask about it tomorrow. My feet were like that and it turns out I had high blood pressure. I thought swollen feet were normal since people on the boards talked about it like that. But for me it meant high blood pressure. Try to stay off of them and put them up as much as you can. And wear big shoes! I ended up buying a pair of flip flops a size bigger and they felt wonderful!

Gina- Congratulations and Welcome to the world, Brady. Glad everything went well despite the premature labor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just got back from my dr. appt and I have to say, I'm a little bit disappointed. I thought I would have made more progress by now. I will be 39 wks tomorrow, but it doesn't look like the baby will be here anytime soon. The dr. checked me and said my cervix is definitely thinning out, but I'm not dilated at all. Still sealed shut.
-BP was good
-Heartbeat was 150
-No weight gain - yipeee!
Overall though, I'm feeling pretty good. I have a few aches and pains in my hips and legs from all the extra weight I'm carrying, but other than that...not too bad. DH, DS and I will start walking tonight to see if I can speed up the process.
Gosh..I thought baby #2 was supposed to come earlier? :/
Next appt. Monday, June 5th.
Hello again :)
Another quick post...
I got a Swaddle Me (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0006B4BVW/qid=1149103144/sr=2-2/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_2/103-2934159-0080615?v=glance&s=baby) from BRU and LOVE IT. It is the best purchase we've made. So good, I'm going to get a few more. It's better than just a blanket cause it doesn't come open, it has velcro to hold it closed. Whenever Troi is fussy, I just wrap him in it and he's good to go. I've also been using it at night w/o any pajamas, just a onsie on him and he stays nice and toasty, even w/the a/c and fan on.
Here is a pix of it:
This is going to be a busy week for this thread! Holy cow.
I am scheduled for an induction on Saturday. I'm 4 cm and 75% effaced, and crampy, and very impatient! I have been going on and on in my LJ about how he needs to get here, stat. I'm going to copy this because I thought it was too funny:
The phone just rang, with a number I didn't recognize. On the other end was a little boy, and he chirped, "Hi, Mom!"
I said, "I think you have the wrong number."
He gave an exasperated sigh and hung up.
I wonder now if it was the baby calling me from my uterus, and if I shouldn't have talked to him a little longer. It didn't even occur to me. I could have told him directly what was up. Maybe he was calling to tell me he was on the way?
kmmommy
jesvet ~ Good luck with your induction on Saturday! I'm feeling really crampy now too and just hoping it helps get me more ready for the induction. Hang in there - only 2 1/2 days to go!!
So, I finally spoke with my M/W this afternoon and baby's eviction...I mean, induction date is set. I will be 41W2D when they start the induction.
My hospital (even with the M/W) won't let people go past 41W3D, as there are significant risks (placental degeneration, low amniotic fluid, etc.) and they've found there is an increase in C-Sections after that time.
So, assuming I don't go into labour anytime soon (which looks unlikely at this point) I'm scheduled for an U/S on Tuesday at 2:15pm, scheduled to get the Cervadil inset and consult with an OB on Wednesday night around 8:00ish and then back to the hospital on Thursday to start Oxytocin (or Pitocin, can't remember which.)
DS ~ I asked about skipping the U/S, but evidently there is quite a bit more involved in this last U/S. She said they aren't checking for position or getting measurements of the baby, they are checking the placenta for degeneration, the baby's movements, the amniotic fluid level, baby's oxygen and H/B, etc. It's all to find out if they need to intervene immediately (higher risk of complication) or if there is enough time for an induction.
If there are problems on Tuesday, I was told that I would be admitted immediately for an induction (Tuesday is 06/06/06) I was told to definitely come prepared, bring my hospital bag and binder with all my records in it, just in case.
The M/W did also tell me that I would consult with the OB on Wednesday evening and that they would follow the OB's recommendation. She said if the baby's head had NOT descended, there was a possibility that he would recommend a C-Section. It is VERY POSSIBLE that my baby has a large head, based on the size of his father's head a birth.
So, right now it's a waiting game. It is possible that I will go into Labour on my own, but highly unlikely at this point. So DH and I are preparing ourselves (and the rest of our family) for the induction next week. It definitely makes it so much more real when there is an actual end in sight and when you have a definite date.
Gina ~ What an adorable little boy...CONGRATS AGAIN! We've all been thinking about you and glad to hear all is well.
Connorsmommy ~ In my fantasies, I was going to walk into my appointment yesterday and the M/W was going to tell me I was 4-5 CM's dilated and should make my way to the hospital...I'm so glad that SOMEONE is living my fantasy. I hope you and Simplicity have a very easy labour and that it starts relatively soon for you both.
I'm thinking about Dan's Girl on her induction today. Sunshine ~ please come back and update us once you hear something from her. Wishing her all the best...and that the measurements were incorrect and the baby isn't quite as large as they suspected.
Nikos(and Troi) ~ Just wanted to say that I'm glad to hear things are going well, even if you are exhausted. I have one of the Swaddler Blankets too, and have heard good things about them. Can't wait to finally use it!
Well, I'm now off for bed. Now that I know my end is near (not that I didn't, but still) I think I'm going to try to get a few more things done around the house (like Vacuum the main floor) and get my thank you cards finished (I've been procrastinating on those) and maybe a couple more naps, etc. I figure come next Tuesday, I won't be doing a single thing, for a while anyways...better get it done now, especially with all the company we will be sure to get.
Have a great night everyone...here's hoping we all get a good nights sleep *knock wood!*
My swelling/blood pressure My blood pressure has been normal so far.
I will definitely be asking my doctor tommorrow. I'm glad I removed my wedding ring and e-ring awhile back.
nikosmommy I'm glad you like the Swaddle Me. Are you using the cotton one or the fleece one? I've been wondering what to put on under mine (I have the cotton one for now and a fleece one in a bigger size for later on when he's bigger and the weather changes). I was afraid a onesie might not be enough with the a/c and all. I'm worried about the same thing with my Halo sleeper/blanket thingies. Same thing- I have a cotton one for now and a fleece one for later.
Swelling definitely adds to your weight. My best friend had a baby in March and I know she gained 8 pounds in 2 weeks - her doctor said it was likely all swelling. All that water weight really adds up so you're going to lose a lot after the little guy is born. :)
Things still going good. Finally remembered to take my belly shot. I think I am finally starting to lose part of my mucous plug. TMI-There was a bunch of what looked like snot in the bowl today. Although they are not getting more frequent I have noticed that some of my contractions are more intense. Not too bad but enough to make me stop what I am doing and grimace a little.
Anyways hope you all are doing great and staying comfortable!
Here is my 37 week belly shot. I don't know what is up with my sleepy eyes there?? Must just be that tired from making baby.
Quick post tonight... Add me to the list of inductions this week. I'm being induced Friday! I'm 40 weeks today, and at my appt. yesterday I was 4cm dilated, and my dr. was actually surprised that I was even there. She said my bag of waters is bulging. The first thing they'll do is break that, and then we'll see if pitocin is necessary after that. So we're gearing up for that! My mom has been here since Sunday, and tomorrow my dad, sister, and MIL are coming up. Life is getting hectic now. :)
I'm sorry I don't have more time tonight to post... I'm helping my mom with a scrapbook she's making. I'm thinking of all of you who have inductions though, and I love seeing the new babies!
No word from my doc on the blood tests. My hands were beyond swollen and numb all last night and today, but other than that , I still fell pretty great! We went to dinner at our favorite restaurant tonight and it was so much fun. All the veteran staff were on and we got treated like royalty.We have ate there about once a week (atleast) the past four years. It was funny, b/c I don't think that the manager knew I was pregnant since, we usually sit at the bar and I talk to him either over the bar counter or backwards over my shoulder so he can't see my stomach. I swear his eyes almost bugged out when he saw my silouette..lol!
and for a laugh...here's another update about the plannning if my shower copied from my journal :) I am not even sure that I told you guys that I found out yesterday by mistake that it is on Sunday and NOT Saturday...
lol!!! josh just told me that I had the story wrong. It was NOT his parents who finally gave him the heads up about the shower date change, but it was our friends who did . Darlene sent out an email asking our crew if anyone wants to do an impromptu BBQ on sat and josh replied (to all) asking her why does she want to have it the same day as my shower....he said he was then flooded with emails from everyone informing him that the date was changed!!!
Can you imagine if we went to his parent's house on Saturday and no one was home!!! lol!
Kaedensmommy: WOW!!! Hope everything goes very smoothly and Mackenzie can make a wonderful entrance into the world!
So is KM the first one whose water has broken spontaneously? I think about that pretty often lately. I even have a towel in the car just in case, although it hasn't happened to anyone else in my family.
My goodness, so many babies coming this weekend! And so many of you are so far progressed!!
Mrs.Brownie: I hear you about the lack of progress happening, but congrats on setting a date! Hopefully you'll have more progress between then and now and the induction will go smoothly. I doubt they'll let me go too far past 41 weeks either, but at least then I'll feel like I had a chance to go into labor on my own.
Well, I was up at 4:30 this morning (totally rare for me to be up before the alarm. I've been sleeping like a rock the last few weeks), and I have heartburn like I've never experienced before. :( For those of you who have dealt with this a lot this pg I am so sorry for you. I don't think I could've handled it. I'm very hopeful it goes away soon or else I think I might OD on Tums. Uff da.
Well, here I am with all this time on my hands and I can't think of anything else to say. I hope to get a chance to pop on during work today and check for new babies! So far all of them are soooo cute. We must be a good-looking bunch of June mommies to produce such adorable offspring. :D
kaedensmommy Oh wow! Thinking of you and can't wait to see you back here for details!!
graffy I've had horrible heartburn for awhile now. It's kept me up at night, too. That's the worst! It had been really bad, then let up a bit when the baby dropped. I got too confident and had some heartburn-inducing food and some soda on Sunday and I've been paying for it ever since. The heartburn is back full-force.:( I hear you on the Tums. I never had one before in my life, now I've been through about four big bottles in the past few months.
I woke up this morning feeling exactly like I had a raging UTI. I was certain as soon as I felt it that I had one. The feelings of pressure and needing to pee have gone away now. Was that just the position of the baby? I'll let them know that at the OB today, just in case.
keadans: Wooooohooo - I really hope & pray that you have a quick & easy labor.
TMI: I had a bunch discharge this morning ... hummm it was white no blood but still - could this be a start of mucous plug?
Kaedan's mommy: Yikes! I'm impressed you were able to get on here and give us an update! Best wishes for a healthy L&D!
I'm up too although it's 5:00am PST. I laid in bed for 1 hour then I decided to get up. The baby must have been doing aerobics this morning. He was so active! Hmm, still wondering when he'll make his grand entrance. My next doc appt is this Monday. If the baby doesn't come by then, I'm sure he'll talk to me again about induction which I'm hoping I can avoid if I can.
Just checking in to see how everyone is. I have an appt this morning, so we'll see if anything's going on. Hopefully not. I need at least another week.
sunshine: Could be your plug, or just part of it. It amazed me how much came out when I lost mine.
Kaeden's: Good luck!!!!!
Sunshine – Could be. When I was reading about it, I read that it can come out it other forms and not as a snotty glob.
Heartburn – I get it at night a few times. Once I’m sleep it doesn’t wake me. I usually just drink a glass of milk. Sometimes I have icecream.
I’ve been sleeping about 1am – 5am each night then lay in the bed until the alarm at 6:15am, but now that I’m working half days I do get a nap when I get home in the early afternoon so I’m not to warn out.
The baby is still extra active. I love it. It doesn’t keep me up at night, but DH says he can feel and see the baby moving while I’m sleeping.
My appt is today at 3:20p
