My birthday falls on 6/6/06 this year and in fun I'm throwing a devil themed backyard party. I have drinks down, but I'm stuck on the menu. Any suggestions?

I think if you stick to a black and red colour theme that would work.
Also anything spicey!

What a cute idea for a theme! I'm not feeling super inspired right now, but what about devil's food cupcakes and grilling some meat with a spicy rub? You can buy rubs at the grocery store or very, very easily make your own.

I'm thinking you could tie a lot of things in with the theme by making a spicy version, playing off the "hell is hot" thing and giving them cute names that go with your theme.

I thought this recipe for Devil's Food Cupcakes looked and sounded pretty darned sinful:

Devil's Food Cupcakes with Chocolate Glaze & Toasted Marshmallows (http://www.godiva.com/recipes/recipe.asp?id=593)

You could also do red velvet cake or cupcakes, since it has that blood red look about it.

This About.com link has tons of different rub recipes, if you're interested in going that way:

Rub Recipes - Recipes for all kinds of rubs for all kinds of meats. (http://bbq.about.com/od/rubrecipes/index_a.htm)

Good luck with your party! :)

Thanks for all the suggestions! I am having a red & black theme. I suggested guest attire stick to the that in the invitation. I'm also trying to put together a cool music playlist. It's all kind of last minute. I have a fire pit and red lights for trees, am I missing something obvious?

I had thought devils food cake, but I like red velvet too. And spicy, why didn't I think spicy?! Perfect! Keep the help coming...

I'm glad I could help with the spicy idea. It's so much easier to think when you're not on the spot trying to plan the party. :)

A simple costume like this might be fun for you since you're the birthday girl:

And these are too cute to resist:

You could do deviled eggs, too. This recipe might be a nice way to make them more special:

Chicken, shrimp, lamb, beef or veggies threaded onto wooden skewers are so easy to grill and great for parties.
