Amy - I hope things move along quickly for you!! Jessie and Bree - you two as well :D
I was so annoyed today. I met DH for lunch (which was nice) then I ran to the store to pick up a few things. Well, I get in the slowest line EVER. I swear the a/c was not working in the store. Then I had to go to the service counter to buy postage stamps because said slowest cashier didn't have any in her drawer. I was being nice, but I was so dang hot I had beads of sweat on my forehead (attractive - YES :p ) I get to the service counter and this old bat is sitting there arguing with the worker about some stupid coupon for 15 minutes. I'm sitting there puddling. I happen to sigh and the old bat turns around and says very meanly "Well, I'll be done in a second. You can wait." I just look at her in a shocked way and put my hand on my belly. Then she softens up and says "Oh, this heat must be horrible for you." I said yes, especially when the air conditioning isn't working in the store and I've been waiting in lines for 20 minutes. Not comfortable at all. She finishes up quickly, i buy my stamps and head for my car and sweet relief. Ugh

Had my 36-week appointment today. Got the fun GBS swab. I gained 10 pounds in 4 weeks! Well, I also had my second day of swelling too, I have been avoiding it until now. A trace protein in my urine but my blood pressure was fine. She said I just need to drink more water which is completely true. I'm only a finger tip dilated which is fine with me, I'm not ready for her to come out just yet. I have a busy week ahead of me with two showers and a few get togethers with friends! Otherwise everything else is looking great. Our bedding came in today too (it had been back ordered). Not like we have a nursery to put it in (grrrrrr) but eventually we will.

We had our last weekly appointment today. The doctor walked in and said this is it! You're going to be parents on Friday. The appointment was pretty short, she gave us another overview of the surgery and what will happen. She showed me where she'll do the cut - not a bikini but not as high as she originally thought. She ran through what DH will be doing before and during the surgery. She recommended he keep seated (he is pretty squeamish) but if he wanted to stand up he could see everything.

LTJC Beautiful watch!
Camdynlyn Can't wait to see the shower pics!
jesseybell Happy Due Date Day! You look so cute!
My mom and I spent most of yesterday buying the things that we still needed for the baby. We got our monitors, diaper bag, nursing bra, nursing tanks, breast pads, lansinoh and some snacks for while I'm in labor. I also ordered a hotsling, diaper pail liner, diaper tote and wipes solution for our cloth diapers online. My mom is in a super cleaning mode, so she came over tonight and last night and has cleaned up our house! DH, dad, FIL and BIL worked on the ceramic tile this weekend and one of the rooms is completely done and the kitchen is 1/2 done. It will all hopefully be done this weekend. Yay!
I can't believe it, but we are just about ready for this little girl!

I'm SUPER late in joining -- DD tomorrow 8/1! But some of the gals saw me in the pregnancy thread, and now I'm here. Have been reading the last few days of posts and feeling some great camradarie. Like a lot of you, seems my doc thought we'd deliver in July too. Have been 80-90% effaced for two weeks, but nothing more. Woke up at 3 a.m. last night with what I swore were contractions, but I guess it's only Braxton-Hicks -- was only a fingertip dilated this morning at my appt. :( I'm ready!
Major props to my supportive DH who has been cooking dinner and also bought me a little trinket... javascript:itemEnlargedView('19211932','19211932', '225.0000'); Cute little ring that will have our gal's birthstone now that she'll officially be arriving in August. :)
Anyway, glad to know all of you and looking forward to chatting more often.

Congrats sherry and welcome baby Logan!
Welcome dandygirl.
chimichanga - glad that old bitty changed her tune. :p
Anyone else getting comments from strangers? I went into the store last Thursday night. Cashier asked when I was due (as she stared at my huge belly in amazement - she was a teenager). I told her. She was cute though, being a teenager and not really "knowing" about pregnancy, she couldn't believe that I was still up and shopping. Um, yeah, we sort of have to keep on keeping on. :p
As for me, I'm still around, guess I will be delivering for sure in August. I'm so ready to meet our baby girl and am not loving the last days of pregnancy in July. The heat has been awful. They said it was well over 100 today when you factor the heat index, but it was well above 90 on just the therm. Actually, right now, at almost 11 pm, it's still 85 degrees out - how's that for hot. And ya'll don't want to know about the humidity!
As for the good, I don't remember if I posted after my appt on Friday, but I was a good 2 approaching a 3 in terms of dialation and soft. And Friday night I had bloody show and then all weekend I lost my mucus plug. I've continued to lose that, so I'm thinking that it didn't come in all one chunk, but rather many smaller pieces. Weird stuff too - looks like jelly. I never lost my mucus plug with Andrew, so this is all new. I continue to have contractions, but they've not been strong enough and regular enough to convince me to go to the hospital (last time I went when my water broke - no contractions). I had my membranes swept on Friday, and there's a 50/50 shot of going into labor within 3 days. No dice this time, so I'll be opting to have that done again this Friday at my appointment. I've been feeling like I have menstrual cramps the last few days....not sure if that's any kind of sign or not.
Anyways, I'm ready to go, but waiting on baby girl to give me the all clear sign (water breaking or horrible contractions).
Good luck to everyone else that is getting so close. And to those that still have a few weeks (potentially) left, hang in there!
Oh, I'm 39w1d (Monday). :)

Sorry about the pic AmyInLA - it's a cute little peridot ring for my right hand. Anyway, nice to meet you!
JennyLou - I have strangers make comments all the time. They don't bother me nearly as much as the unsolicited comments from those I know -- a coworker once told me she could tell I was carrying a girl because my face was puffy. Hmfph. What has been fun, namely today, is having strangers ask when I'm due and then seeing their shocked reaction when I reply, "tomorrow!" :D
Anyone else being induced? Likely for us tomorrow. My OB doesn't like women going past their EDDs either, but I'm struggling with rushing nature vs. her protocol. I've had BH all day today, and definitely think I'm close...

My neighbor's MIL (who lives down the street and I've not seen since last week) told me she thinks I've dropped some more! :) YAY! Not sure if I had but Bean FEELs lower. She hiccups all the time now and it vibrates me 'down there.' :o It's a funny feeling.
I've been having what I would describe as mild menstral cramps. I don't think they mean anything but that's what I've been feeling. I don't think they are BH's either. Oh, I had my first nose bleed ever today. Mom said it's pregnancy related. Great.
I have my next doctor's appointment Thursday. They will schedule my GBS test then. I'm still debating on asking for an internal but I think I will when I go for my test. I'll be 36 weeks then. I don't think I've had any progress (MAYBE some effacing, just based on the increase in CM I'm having) but because I've not had many contractions (don't I have to have these to dialate or did I dream that), I doubt I have. I'm ready to get the ball moving, though.

Congratulations Tuesdayschild and Welcome Miriam!!!
Congratulations AbbysMom and Welcome Logan!!! So exciting to finally know “ONE SWEET SURPRISE”!!
Gosh, it so amazing to see so many August babies in July! How exciting
Welcome DandyGril…I saw you post in the Nursery thread and wondered if you were going to make your way over to our group. Glad to meet you!!
MsrTim – Sorry to hear about all the hospital trips. Not that I know what it is like, but it sounds like you are taking it all in stride; hang in there
Jennylou – It sounds like you are well on your way.
Sabriel – It sounds like you are as prepared as you can be…such a great feeling, huh?
K&H Mommys – Can I just say your belly shots look amazing! I wish I looked s good as you…..
As far as comments from strangers…yeah, I get them all the time. But here is kind of irritating thing. EVERYONE (and I mean EVERYONE) keeps asking me “when is HE due?”. My reply…”SHE is due the next week or two”. EVERYONE comments that they think I am having a BOY based on how I am carrying. I have had 3 U/S all confirming I am having a girl…it just makes me wonder if I should have a boy outfit ready….their comments are making me paranoid
2 questions:
1) About the mucus plug….how do you know what it is? Does it look the same as CM or is it different?
2) For the last week I have been getting these very weird pains and wondering if it normal. It is right where my legs connect to my torso but in the groin area (if you feel down there you can feel a ligament)…I have been getting excruciating pains right there where I basically am doubled over…has anyone had that?

I've been having this over the last week or so -- have been going on long daily walks and really starting to notice it then, or when I get up after sitting a while. I don't double over, but I've been assuming it is ligament stretching in preparation for labor. ??

plnubride - Aw thanks! The pics are deceiving though, you can't see my thighs! :p When I lost my mucous plug with DD it was like a huge ball of snot. I had gone to the bathroom and wiped and ewww....it was pretty gross. Like 30 people all blew their nose in the same tissue, LOL! I have had the same pain. I had it really bad when we were moving and was told it was ligament pain and not to worry about it. But it would stop me in my tracks a few time.
stranger comments - Oh I have gotten though "so you're having another boy" comments from people. No, this is a girl.... "ooohhhh...." like they don't believe me. Well two ultrasounds show girl so it's either a girl or a boy who's going to have issues growing up! ;)
Has everyone been checking in? Who's been abset the last couple of days?

CONGRATULATIONS SHERRY!!!!! Welcome to the world LOGAN!!!! I'm so happy for you!!!! :D :D :D

Jenn ~ Yay! Another 8/2 birthday! Happy early b-day to you!
Kathy ~ Yes! I agree...ice cream cake all around! Happy early b-day!
Sara ~ That's great that your bedding arrived...what does it look like?
Jen ~ YAY! for your LAST appt!!
Jessie ~ Hey, maybe your baby will share a b-day w/ me and Jenn!
Cherish ~ Thanks for the b-day wishes! It sounds like you are getting a lot accomplished at your house
Amanda ~ Welcome!! We do have a great group here! If my boy doesn't arrive on his own by 8/13, I'm being induced at 6am. My EDD is 8/18 but since I'm already dilated and effaced, my dr said I'm a good candidate.
Jenny ~ I hope baby girl doesn't make you wait for too much longer!
Summer ~ I feel hiccups in my bum :o
Amy ~ Eh, unless those strangers have x-ray vision and can see a little penis, I wouldnt worry about having a boy outfit on hand :D As for your questions: (1) when I lot my mucous plug I knew for sure that's what it was--it looked like yellowish gelatinous goo...kind of like rubber cement or, as my dr described it...snot. But then after losing a big chunk, I continued to lose more of it and it was just stringy mixed w/ CM. (2) YES! I've had those pains. I sort of relate it to charlie horse cramps in your leg but it's in your groin. I think it's the baby sitting on a nerve or something.

I've been so tired lately (save for the fact that it's 4:40 and I'm wide awake). This afternoon I came home from work and just sat on the couch all afternoon and snoozed. It was heaven. I guess I should take it while I can since I won't have time to myself for the next...oh...18+ years!

Congratulations Sherry and Welcome Logan!!
That was one of our boy names on the list :D
PLNUBride Pain in the hip area - oh yes!! I can't turn over at night without major pain in that area - stinks :(
SO's as far back as I can see...
Jenny - sounds like you're progressing along. I hope things start moving for you soon
Welcome dandygirl. We'll be meeting your little girl soon - it sounds like.
Camdynlyn - yay for Bean moving down more. Just a bit longer and hopefully she'll come early for you.
babylove - I hear you on the tired. But yet, I'm up at my "normal" time each morning. Kind of stinks, but at least I know I don't have to be up if I don't want to. And, I can nap. Naps are great.
We're working out the final details for our c/s. Originally I thought we were going to have a packed house on thursday - now it looks like it will just be DH and I. My parents are just going to drive up on Friday and then back home because my mom has to work on Saturday. ILs are coming on Friday too - FIL finally got the day off  He didn't even think to ask for the day off which sort of offended me, but I'm over it.
My sister will probably drive up on Saturday night and spend the night. My parents are coming back on Sunday and my mom will spend the week and my dad will go back home with my sister. SILs are going to come visit after work, and I have no clue about DH's grandparents. So, at least the grandparents and aunts will see her pretty quick.

There are so many August b-days. My BIL is on Thursday, SIL 8/8, DH 8/14, DH Grandfather 8/15, and soon our little one. DH insists baby will be born on his b-day, because all of our b-days (DH, me and DS) were all born on the 14th day of a month. We will see!!

First off, Happy August Everyone!! We made it!
Welcome to the world LOGAN!!!! I love the name Sherry! Congrast on your SON!!!
Welcome Miriam!!!!!! Congrats to TuesdaysChild! I hope she is home soon!
So many August b-days!! Happy b-day to all you early August ladies. Mine is the 23rd. I hope to have a baby by that time!
Chimi-A few more days! EEKKKK! So excited for you!
Tracee-Definately take the rest now. You will be dying for rest in a few weeks. :) Be lazy NOW
dandygirl-Welcome!!!! Better late than never! Sending you labor vibes!!!!
PLNUBRIDE-Re: your questions...1-I am not much help. I never saw mine last time. I think that most often it is blood tinged. I have had some increased mucus, but don't think it has been the plug yet. 2--Werid aches and pains are happening to me too. I think yours sounds like the baby moving down!
Summer-I felt no contactions with DD and was dialating by 36 weeks. Just because you aren't feeling it, doesn't mean things are happening.
Jessie and Bree-Thinking of you ladies!!! It has to be soon!!!
Amy-So sorry about all the "action" with no baby. UGHHHH!! It is so frustrating. Hang in there.
Me: I woke up with the stomach flu yesterday. NOT FUN!!!!! By yesterday afternoon, the nurse really wanted me to go to L&D and get hydrated. I REALLY didn't want to. So I convinced her to call me in an RX of Phenegran. Luckily that stopped the vomiting and I have been able to drink. I still feel crappy though.
Take care ladies!!

Jessie ~ Hey, maybe your baby will share a b-day w/ me and Jenn!
Don't I wish, but it isn't likely to happen....
We had an u/s this morning at the hospital. She is definitely a girl and is estimated to weigh 8lb 6 oz which is 78th percentile. But the doctor did note that it isn't an exact science.
Onto the dr's appt... The secretary screwed up so there was no record of our appointment, so we were forced to see another doctor I had never heard of....I think that is because I sware today was her first day in the practice. She didn't know where anything was and didn't know the procedures/common practices of the practice.
The low down is I am still 2 cm (welll she said 1-2 cm) and my cervix is really high, though soft. She didn't say anything about effacement or station. She did note (before the exam) that visually I haven't dropped. No duh!
She wanted to go ahead and schedule an induction for next Wednesday but was told you couldn't schedule them 8 days out. Good! I don't want to schedule one yet. She kept going on and on about how after tomorrow she would call me and could schedule one. She does want to schedule 2 NSTs for next week which I am okay with.
So as of now I have an appt on Monday 8/7 with another doctor. I think I may call tomorrow when I am home and ask to talk to the doctor I was supposed to see today and get his opinion. Her desire to induce had nothing to do with the u/s results (she didn't even realize I had had one - I had to tell her), just the fact I am overdue and none of the other doctors have said that they want to schedule inductions as soon as you are overdue.
I would be more willing to schedule an induction if I knew my actual due date wasn't until around 8/8 so in my mind I am not overdue yet....but I am also not going to go until 8/16 because of her size. Ideally, if I don't go before Monday, which I doubt I will, I'll see if they can strip my membranes, but at the same time try to schedule an induction for 8/9 (at which my DH can tell me 'told you so' about her coming on 8/10).

Thanks for the congratulations! :D We're in the hospital until tomorrow (assuming my crazy BP stays under control, that is) and have wireless internet so I figured I'd pop in for a sec.
Thanks to Joelle for posting for me yesterday!!
The birth in a nutshell.... At my last appt, my BP was elevated so my OB wanted to just move ahead and get the baby out before it got TOO high. I was induced with DD, so I wasn't TOO nervous over the idea. Plus I figured that since I was already 4+ cm, it would be a decent experience. So we set up the induction for yesterday morning (we kept the date a secret). When my OB tried to break my water, we discovered that the baby had shifted, I was only dilated to 2 cm AND my cervix was very, very high and posterior. So he couldn't break it. So it was on to Pitocin (which I'd had before). About 3.5 hours later, they checked me again and I was at 4 so my OB broke my water. And THEN things happened super quick. I went from 4 to 10 in about an hour. I pushed for 10 minutes before the nurse called my OB, and he arrived a few minutes later and Logan was born! So I think it was about 5 or 5.5 hours total. I'm very proud to say that I've now managed to have two DC with no pain medication. :)
Logan is an awesome, awesome nurser (thank the good Lord - DD was really difficult) and a little sweetheart. He has very light-colored hair and it's weird, but DH and I both think he might end up being a blonde or a redhead! (Weird since DD, DH and I all have dark hair.)
I'll be cheering the rest of you on!!

Abby'sMom Glad that everything's going well! Awesome that you did it without pain meds!
jesseybell Sorry about the doctor mix up.
ajlanden I was wondering where you were! I hope you feel better soon!
dandygirl Welcome!
jennylou Yay for losing your mucous plug!
I had contractions every 3-5 minutes for 2 hours last night. I was trying to sleep and each time I had one it woke me up. All I could think about was that I just wanted to sleep! The last time I remember looking at the clock was 1 am, so they must have calmed down after that. I don't think they are BH, because I have been having those for the last 15 weeks or so. These contractions actually hurt all over my belly and my lower back. I have been having some more contractions today, and I have been having what feels like moderate menstrual cramping all day. Hopefully I am making some progress!

Jen ~ I hear you on the naps...heaven!
Jennifer ~ Thanks for the b-day wishes!
Ashley ~ Glad you are feeling better!
Jessie ~ Sorry about the drs appt but at least you have confirmation that she is a she! ;)
Sherry ~ YOU GO GIRL! That's amazing!! I would have been begging for the drugs. Yikes about becoming un-dilated...that scares me a bit! Can't wait to see pics of Logan--I LOVE the name by the way!
Amy ~That's ok, I went to L&D b/c Truman "wasn't moving" and he immediately kicked the monitors off...my kid made a liar out of me!
Cherish ~ Good news!! I hope you are making progress!!

It is H.O.T. outside. I just returned from lunch w/ SIL. She bought Truman the blanket I wanted from Boogie Baby (www.boogiebabyusa.com). It's the softest thing I've ever felt in my life. Yay for Contractions, Cherish!!!! :D Weird what we get down to congratulating each other for! ;)
Jessey - weird that the doctor was so clueless!!! Sorry for your frustrations - I'd call the doc as well. I don't remember if I said it yesterday or not, but happy due date one day late!!
Ashley - I gave you my opinion on the flu in LJ - hope you're feeling much better now!
Jennifer - EVERYONE seems to be born in Aug! We've had SO many people telling us what day to give birth! :D It's funny!
Amanda - welcome! you look incredible - I love the color of your hair!
Tracee - I've been taking naps too! DH says "grab all the rest you can while you can" to me each day!! We're sure to need it!
Amy - My mucus plug was definitely different - mostly because it wasn't clear. It was a huge ball of well, pink snot. Gross, I know - but nothing is sacred and tmi here, right? Then, when I looked back into the toilet, there were more chunks of the same in the toilet - same with the next time I went to the bathroom too.
As for me - contractions are back in the house again - right now they're 2 minutes apart, have been for the last 20 minutes, anyway. Too early to call anything - I was told not to come back to the hospital unless I was doubled over in pain and unable to talk through them. Definitely not the case now. They just feel like bad BH with back and lower belly pain like mentstrual cramps. Definitely manageable at this point. I'm not getting excited - yes, they're finally back after being gone from Sunday night onward, but it could be false again. Think I'll go get on the treadmill to see if they stop - it's just too hot to go outside and try to walk! My thermometor on the back deck says 112. :(

I don't know what is up with CC lately. Every time I come and post it tells me the server is too busy to post.
Anyways, Congratulations Tuesdayschild and welcome Miriam! And Congratulations AbbysMom and welcome Logan!
Yeah, for August finally arriving.
A lot of ladies getting contractions and loosing their mucus plug. I only have miner BH and have not lost any mucus plug yet. Last week I battled the heat wave and thankfully its cooler this week. My feet were very scary looking last week.
Any one else feeling overwhelmed with all the baby gear. Don't know if I have everything I need. My mom washed all the baby clothes this past weekend and I think I have everything. I ordered some cloth diapers online, going to try them out. I only need to buy some nursing bras and I think I am all set.

Wanna see why 2 people so far today have asked if I'm due anyday now? No, I've got 5 weeks left! Do you feel sorry for me, yet? :p I think I've really grown in the past 2 weeks and I think comparing my 33 and 35 shots, I've dropped. I'll let you decide for me, though.

Summer-You did pop! :) Aren't those comments great? Isn't it even better to them it is still weeks until your EDD? I feel like people think I am a moster or something.
jarocha-I am glad it has cooled down where you are. It has here, as well. It is welcomed relief. As for baby gear...I am trying not to freak. I know that if I need something, I will have plenty of people to go out and get it.
Amy-You poor thing with all the contractions. Hopefully this time will be it!
Tracee-I hope your ankles are being massaged as I type. That sounds heavenly!
Sabriel-I hope those contractions are moving you right along! YAY!
Sherry-I am so glad that the induction went well and that you were able to do it without medication. You are amazing!!! I so glad Logan is nursing well. That must be such a relief!!! I can't wait to hear more!!
Jessey-I hope you can hold off the induction!!! Thank goodness for the 8 day rule. You know my cervix is really high too. It didn't move down until clear into labor. I was dialating and everything, but the cervix wouldn't come down. I wonder if that is common?
So, I went and did my pre admit paperwork at the hospital. Yay! Now I just have to pack my bag and we will be ready to jump in the car and go. I hope I get that chance. I would like to see what it is like to NOT be induced.

I've been busy at work and MIA from CC, but I've been keeping up! Congrats on all the new arrivals!
Just had my next to last OB appointment. She said I was 1 cm dilated and about 75% effaced (not much change from the last time). The baby is in a -1 position. We went ahead and set up an appointment for induction next Wednesday. I was a little disappointed at first, but then the control freak in me came out and I was excited to know when I could plan on this little gal to arrive (unless she comes before then). It's also good because then I know my doc will be the one to deliver the baby as that's her night on call. Any ROs have insight into what takes place during the induction? I know that we will be doing pitocin, but not much else.

it's a bug-I was induced with cervadil. It is the gel they put in your cervix. They might do that before they start the pitocin. With the gel, they put it in your cervix and then you lay down for an hour or so. Then they had me walk and walk and walk. I had two treatments of that and then they broke my water. It wasn't until after the epi that they started pitocin.
I think the important thing to remember with induction is that it can take longer. Just be prepared to wait. I don't think my doc was overly concerned with getting that baby out fast (hence no pitocin until the end), but I was in the hospital for 18.5 hours before I had DD. It didn't seem that long though. Overall my induction experience was great. It is nice to know that you are going to leaving with a baby.

inductions- Just offering my 2cents on inductions since I had to be induced with both kiddos, but both for different reasons. With DD (my first) I was induced because I was 42 weeks!! I had lost my mucous plug and was 1cm at 35weeks so I thought FOR SURE she was coming anyday. Nope. I had tons of BH contractions but they didn't do anything so I had to be induced. I got there at 6pm and the monitored me until 7pm. Then they started the IV & started the pitocin. Contractions started to hurt at about 10:45pm. I remember because I was watching ER and I was annoyed because I wanted to watch it but, well, it hurt! I got my epidural at 1am and I was 5cm. I slept on and off and then woke up at 4:45am and felt nauseous and threw up while the nurse was checking me. Surprise, I was at 10cm. Went to the DR, about 4 pushes and she was out born at 5:05am. So about 10 hours TOTAL from start to finish of my induction.
With DS it was a little different because I was on the magnesium for my blood pressure (horrible, horrible drug!!!!!!) and that STOPS labor. Magnesium is a standard for women in preterm labor. SO it was hard to figure out how much pitocin to give me compared to the magnesium. Once I was actually feeling the contractions it was about 1am...and I had him at 7:28am and my epidural didn't work so I felt it all. So about 6 hours again of real labor. So not bad again.
I actually wouldn't mind requesting to be induced!!! It would work out so much better for my schedule and getting the kids organized...ha ha.
sabriel - that sounds promising! Hopefully it continues for you!
aj - hope your feeling better. I was thinking you were having the baby since I noticed you had been gone for a couple days!
it's a bug - I'm telling you, the control freak in me WANTS an induction date so I can plan!!! Maybe see if you can get a sleeping pill the night before so you can be completely rested and ready to go!
jarocha - I'm the same as you, the occasional BH, no mucous plug. I'm totally behind everyone else obviously! Don't worry about the baby gear, you just need diapers, wipes and some clothes the first couple of weeks to get by. With this heat, maybe not even clothes! I figured that I would be swaddling this kiddo in a thin blanket most of the time - with just a diaper on!
babylove - oh I am in desperate need of a pedicure too! Those blankets are so cute. At first I thought, wait a minute, I thought "Truman" was the baby...is it a dog? Because there is a dog on the front page of that website, LOL!
Sherry - two unmedicated births, you amaze me. Here you are sick as a dog through both pregnancies, had issues while trying to get pregnant...yet when it comes to labor you are just MADE to have babies!!!! Are you going to post any pics of Logan even for just a teensy minute? :-)

I am minutes away from leaving work. Wish I could be completely on maternity leave, but working from home is the next best thing, especially with the heat index going to be 114 tomorrow.
I am still so confused about the whole induction thing. Too many people today were like 'Oh I was induced, it didn't take long, yada, yada, yada' But I know in my heart I would rather not go that route, at least not yet. But come Monday I will probably be ready for her to come out any which way possible. And if I do have to be induced, maybe I'll go really quickly like my mom (4-5 hours). Just as long as I don't go quickly as in in the car on the way to the hospital!
This yucky doctor also did wonders to my insides. I've been beyond spotting since the appt - nothing I need to call about because its been all brown, but I'll probably mention it to the doctor tomorrow.
Why do I feel like I will have missed out if I don't loose my mucous plug? Or in such 1 big gelatinous mass like people describe? Yes...getting loopy towards the end here.

Jessie - poor thing! I'd honestly say go with your gut feeling on induction - if you do it and regret it, you can't change it. What everyone ELSE went through is a moot point - you want to be happy with what you choose! {hugs}!

Hello Ladies, Sorry I have been MIA, but we have been busy getting things ready for Thursday.
I had my Last OB appointment this morning and my DH was able to be there.
The highlights:
My BP was up a bit 130/80,
I have only gained 1 lb in 2 weeks since I saw her
FHR was 142
Fundal Height still measuring at 36cm
She doesn' t think that he is going to be all that big either.
We got all the consent signed for the c-section, and all the rest of the paperwork. I got my prescriptions for before and after delivery and that was it. Now I will see her in the operating room on Thursday Morning!
My MIL who was supposed to come up tomorrrow to be with R, called this evening to tell us that she was sick, so she wasn't sure if she would be coming tomorrow or not. We have my niece Dakota, and my SIL on standby. R loves them both, so I'm not too worried, but just my luck!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SO's as far back as I can see/remember them:
Sara: You look fabulous!
Amanda: Welcome! You may be holding your little girl now! How exciting!
Jenny: Sorry about all the comments you have been getting. Come on little girl! Your mommy and daddy want to meet you!
Summer: YAY for dropping more and great belly shots too!
Amy: I can't help you out with the mucuous plug, I don't remember if I saw mine with DD and I haven't seen one this time that I know of. The pain sounds like your round ligament pain and your body getting ready for delivery. Sorry it hurts so much.
Tracee: Enjoy the lazy days now while you can! You won't get too many of them in the near future! I've had a few of those days where I am just AWAKE for no reason too!
Jen: Glad you got all the details sorted out for your C-section. I did all mine today. Glad all the family will be able to meet your little girl sooner rather than later.
Jennifer: How interesting that all your b-days fall on the 14th! That is neat! We don't have many b-days but all 4 anniversaries for my IL's side of the family are in August. BIL Mike and SIL Angie 3/8, BIL Danny and SIL Karen 6/8, DH and I 16/8 and MIL and FIL 22/8. Although my BFF Lynne's b-day is 5/8 and she is this little guys God Mother.
Ashley: I was wondering if you weren't off having a baby since I hadn't seen you posting for quite a few days. Sorry you were so sick, but I'm glad you are feeling better now. Glad you got your pre-admin paperwork done. Isn't it a great feeling?
Jessie: Yay for being done going to the office. Sorry you didn't have a great experience at the doctor's today. I would go with you gut feeling on the induction. You can't undo it after it is done. Just my 2cents.
Sherry: No need to thank me at all, it was my pleasure! Sorry you had to call twice, and that you got to hear the melt down the first time! I'm so happy for you guys! BTW, you are my hero! NO drugs again! I will be full of them on Thursday! :) Also SO happy that Logan is a good BFer too! After all the struggles you had with Abby, you deserve this! YAY!!!
Amy: Sorry you body is trying to make a liar out of you! I hope it decides soon what it wants to do!
Cherish: Glad things are progressing for you!
Gisell: I hear you on the overwhelmed by all the baby gear feeling. I was that way with DD. Now it is just a part of everyday life! You will become accustomed to it! As crazy as that seems!
Holly: Glad things are going well for you. I have no insist on inductions sorry. Good Luck!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I will try to get back tomorrow, but no guarantees. Sherry will post in here after I call her with all the details. I know that I won't have computer access until I get home, and I won't be home until Sunday at the earliest.
Good luck to everyone! I can't wait to see how many babies there are when I get back!

Sara, I will post pics! I have to get home first though so I can download them off the camera. And you totally make me blush. :o I'm just glad that something about pregnancy is relatively 'easy' for me. :)
Ashley, sending you actual labor vibes!!
Summer, dropping is a good thing!
Jarocha, our house is full of baby and toddler stuff. I totally know what you mean.
Amy, keep hangin' in there! He'll be here before you know it.
Tracee, ugh, my mom was telling me it's hot there (she's in the DC-area). :( I know how it feels; we just got rid of our nasty heat. Not meaning to scare anyone about the un-dilation! I was pissed, but at least once you've stretched to a certain # of cm, you can re-stretch pretty easily.
Cherish, sounds promising!
Sorry, can't see back any further....
Inductions - I've now been induced twice for two different reasons, too. I never needed anything but Pitocin ITO medications because my cervix was soft and dilated both times.
DD: I was at 39w 4d and my water was leaking a little. I had a tiny dose of Pitocin, which got labor going pretty quickly. OB broke my water at 7cm, and I progressed to 9.5 pretty fast. Pushed for 55 minutes and she was born. Total time about 4.5 hours, I think.
Logan: 38w 5d. My BP was going up, had some trace protein, and my OB was just more comfortable with getting him out than with letting me continue on. Administered Pitocin after failing to break my water; pretty painless contrax got me to 4cm over 4 hours thanks to lots of increases in Pit doses. OB broke my water, progressed from 4cm to 10cm in about an hour or an hour and a half, pushed for 10 minutes, Logan was born.
I totally understand feeling conflicted about not going into labor on your own. I didn't get to do it either time and I really, really wanted to. I never saw either of my mucus plugs, either. I didn't get that 'honey, it's time!' moment that I'd wanted. Induction depends a lot on how your body reacts to the medication; I know a lot of women who think Pitocin is satan, but I actually LIKE it. It makes things move very quickly for me, and since I don't have actual labor pain (just rectal pressure after the baby drops down into my pelvis), it doesn't bother me to have contractions stacked on top of each other.
Anyway, I just wanted to echo the others who have already said that induction isn't always a bad thing with a bad ending.

Whew. I missed a lot in one day. I guess that is bound to happen now that things are starting to happen!
Congrats Abby's Mom and welcome Logan! I love his name, by the way!
Welcome to the group, Amanda! Can't wait to hear news of your little girl's arrival.
Jenny~ Sounds like you are making a lot of progress. It should be any day now, right?
Sabriel~ Wow! You had quite a shopping spree! There are so many last minute things to get aren't there?
JenniferH and ajlanden~ Thanks for the b-day wishes. It is #29 and I don't know how I feel about that yet! :p
Summer~ I think you have dropped, too. And trust me, I am definitely sporting the "my belly is too big for this shirt" look every once in a while because I refuse to buy any more shirts this close to the end!
Joelle~ Best of luck on Thursday! I'll be thinking of you.
Sorry if I missed anyone - I had missed 4 pages!
I have an appt on Thursday for an u/s. I can't wait to find out how big this boy is. He feels huge. It seriously feels like he is taking up my entire torso. My mom thinks he is long like my brother who was 23 inches when he was born. I guess we will find out soon enough. I don't mind him being long - I just hope his head isn't huge! :p

Sorry--I feel totally selfish to be posting again like this without any so's. :( I AM thinking of you all & try to read and keep up.
Thank you, thank you for the congrats posts!!
I wish it were a totally joyous occasion for us, but there continue to remain struggles b/c of her early arrival. Miriam may be home on Friday; that's our goal. She is off oxygen, she just had the feeding tube removed today (hooray!), and she's maintaining her body temperature. HOWEVER, she failed the car seat test, which is when they placed her in the seat for an hour & monitored her oxygen levels...they dipped too low. She did NOT gain enough weight this morning--she has to show a gain of at least 15 grams a day to be released, and 2 days ago she actually lost weight. I go into the hospital 3X a day so that I can be there for feedings and hold her. DH & I both have hospital bands on our wrists so that we can "prove" our relationship for visits.
I often tear up when I see other mothers with their newborns in public. Thank goodness my parents are staying with us to keep the house running & indulge my DS.

Tuesdayschild - big hugs to you. I know how frustrated you must feel. Well I don't *know* but since I work in the NICU I see it on a daily basis. Plus Kyle was in the NICU for jaundice. I bet she'll be home with you by this weekend. Here's to gaining weight and passing that carseat challenge. See if you can be there for the next carseat test. Make sure her head doesn't slump over and the nurse watches her the entire time. I'd hate to think she failed because of something like that.

Abbysmom ~ Thanks for posting your story. Amazing how smoothly it went...I am jealous my labor and delivery with first DS wasn't nearly that easy. Got to 10cm fast, but pushed for 3 hours!!

I think I overdid it yesterday with my cleaning. My lower back was KILLING me! I could hardly walk; it was really attractive let me tell you. It's feeling better now after a 20 minute steaming hot shower.

Gisell ~ I'm overwhelmed with all the baby gear and I have everything at my house already...it's just sooo much!
Summer ~ You definitely look bigger!!
Ashley ~ I told my pedicure lady to "massage the he11 out of my feet" and she did ;) ... but I'm still pg!
Holly ~ I feel the same way about the induction. Mine is currently scheduled for 8/13...I'm sad that I probably won't have an "it's time" moment, but excited that there is an end in sight!
Sara ~ Heehee...yup, Truman is the baby. We don't even have a dog! LOL!
Jessie ~ Some people don't even notice losing their mucous plugs b/c of the heavy CM at the end of pgcy...it's not a sure thing or a "true" sign of labor really...I lost mine 2 weeks ago and...nada.
Joelle ~ I'm trying my best to enjoy this free time...GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!!!! I'm sooo excited to hear the big news!
Sherry ~ It is horrible here...but I refuse to be stuck in the house on my b-day! Oh, I hope my induction experience is just like yours!!
Kathy ~ 23"?? That's one long baby! My guy seems big too...but at this point, I think anything would seem big!
Tuesdayschild ~ Please don't feel bad about not doing SOs...you have a lot on your mind! I hope that Miriam can come home soon, I can't even imagine how hard this must be for you {{{HUGS}}}
Jen ~ Have a great date night!
Thanks so much for the b-day wishes, Summer, Amy & Kathy!
Happy birthday to my birthday twin, Jen! :D

Well, the nesting continues. I assembled the PNP and full size swing this morning, did 2 loads of laundry, ran the dishwasher...and now I'm about to shower so that I can meet a friend for lunch. I'm going w/ MIL to BRU this afternoon so she can pick out a crib for her house. Fun stuff. I felt like something *might* be happening last time b/c each time I got up too pee, I was feeling really intense pressure and pain...but now...nothing. Poo. This baby is going to wait until 8/13 to arrive, mark my words!
The nursery is almost officially finished. I order 2 baskets w/ liners from PBK and they arrived yesterday. They are perfect. I filled one w/ diaper changing essentials and the other with burp cloths and bibs so they are handy. Now I'm just waiting on a lampshade and to hang some stuff on the walls and then it will be finished. :)

40 weeks...
Still here, and still pregnant. We went to the doctor today, and I have made absolutely no progress whatsoever. I'm not dialated at all. She did however say that I was softening some. But, that's it. I guess we'll have to resort to having tons of uncomfortable sex to get this baby moving. Of course, my husband isn't complaining . What made matters worse, is that my doc was out, delivering a baby - at the hospital where I'm going to deliver. D@mn, I wish it was me :(. I saw one of her partners. This was the first time I'd seen her. She seemed really nice. She did mention that walking and sex were pretty much the only two things that *could* get things moving. We'll see...
Oh yeah, I also gained 4 lbs since last week. Guess I'm making up for not gaining before.

Happy Birthday Jen and Tracee!! Hope you enjoy them in this sweltering heat.

Am I the only one who doesn't have a name for her baby? We had it narrowed down to 3 names and I let DH choose because all three are family names and I don't have a preference - I like all three! Well, he chose a name a couple of months ago and I thought we were set until a couple of weeks ago when he started second-guessing his decision. Now we are back to the original 3 with no decision in sight. Just curious to see if we are the only ones who may welcome a nameless baby into the world!
Oh! And I had a dream last night that my water broke in the middle of the night but since I didn't have any contractions, I went ahead and went to work the next morning! Crazy, crazy dream!

Still here too...But at home, so I am much happier (not getting much work done - there is a Birth Day marathon going on....). I am forcing myself to walk around and use the birthing ball. I've also had the runs all morning - hoping that is a good sign, but probably not...I keep trying to will her to drop.
Wish I could go outside but its 94 in the shade, so no way!
cocoa_femme - Softening is a good sign! Even though I haven't dilated more, the fact that I am soft is very good my doctor keeps telling me. When do you go back to the doctor?

Bree-I totally know I suck. I SO understand how you are feeling. It is so frustrating. I will probably be the one who goes past her due date when her doc told her she wouldn't last another week at 37 weeks. (LOL on your phone message!!)
jenny-Here is hope for you...no plug (unless I lost it at night when I was peeing in the dark), last week the doc did a half-#$# internal and said I was "soft" but that was it. I have been having some light contractions off and on.
(ETA: Why don't have a search function on here anymore? I want to search and see how far people were dialated when they went into labor, but don't have the option. BOO!)

Cocoa, :D maybe DH and I are just not good sports, but we have started letting voice mail take almost all our calls. It started getting out of hand last weekend. Not only do people want to know where we are when they call, they also want to make sure we know where they are so we can call them back with any news that "might" break. And I still have (potentially) four weeks left!
I like your idea of leaving the latest update on the voicemail, though!
"Hi, this is E and C. There are no updates as of... [computerized voice]August 2nd[/computerized voice]. Our latest news is that we took our hospital tour at Holy Cross last Thursday night. It was... enlightening. We'll keep you informed should any new developments arise."

Cosmic, your message sounds a lot nicer than mine. At least you provided some information. You think I should add sime info about my cervix not dialating to the message :p? I'm thinking it would totally gross people out, and they would stop calling.

Search function and new posts button were disabled (temporarily for now, though might turn into longer) to ease the server load. Richard did it last night and we haven't had any server issues since, so apparently, it has helped. I miss both functions too!
Hmmmm, as for your hope - I'm 2-3 dialated at last weeks appt and lost my plug over the weekend (in giant globs of snot!). I'd been losing little pieces before, but man, that was enlightening! So, I was hoping you'd say you had lost your plug a few days before and whammo, dialated to 4. :p Hey, a girl can hope right!?!

We haven't tried yet, but friends have suggested either doggie style but with your stomach resting on a pillow, or him standing on the floor with your heels on his shoulders and a pillow under your butt (this only is comfortable for some people based on the height of your bed and height of DH).
The birthing ball actually feels really good - I've been rocking on it for about 10 minutes every hour or so.
Also being at home, I am forcing myself to walk up and down stairs every hour or 2.
I think I am in the minority in that I don't mind the phone calls - mainly because it is a little lonely here. But also because my friends and family are calling to see how I am doing and feeling and what they can do to help, not for an update. They know I'd call if there was news. Each person is also only calling once a day.
NSTs - What exactly happens during them? How long do they last? The doctor yesterday mentioned doing 2 next week. I wasn't planning on having DH come because I was under the impression they last a while and he wants to reserve his time off for after she comes.
jennylou
08-02-2006, 02:04 PM
Jessie - NST's aren't a biggie, IMO. They strap you up to a monitor that measures fetal heart rate as well as one that will measure for any contractions. Then you're given a little clicker (think Jeapordy) and you give it a click each time you feel the baby move. Easy peasy. :) Thanks for the tips. Doggie style has never seemed to work for us. We have done the other though, mainly when very pregnant. ;)
isaacsmommy - glad we're good for some entertainment. :p :p

DTD - Doggie with both pillows longways supporting my torso is ALL that this big ole girl can handle and has been for oh, the last 5 months. Still not that comfy, but manageable. :o
I went to my doctor today for a quick check-up since my contractions just seem to come and go for hours on end - they got to where I couldn't talk or walk through them this morning for about an hour, then went away.
I was up 5 lbs from my last visit (friday!) but my bp and urine were good. Dr. D said for me to come back on Friday to at least see if there was any progress, but that if not, I do have an appt for Tuesday to be checked yet again - if no improvement STILL, we'll "set a time Wednesday for you to come in and have your baby!" My jaw just about hit the floor! So - looks like a tentative induction on August 9th!!
The funny thing was - he had absolutely NO trouble finding my cervix. The nurses at the hospital put me in orbit - I barely knew he did my internal! So nice, let me tell you!!
Anyway - that's where we stand - I have less than one week until I know I will one way or another meet my baby!!!!!!
Which, yes, I'm still a little frusterated at the turn of events, but quite frankly, seeing a light at the end of the tunnel helps me so much. Along with the orders from Doc to "buy a bottle of Tylenol PM and get plenty of rest, asap!" He did say he doubts I'll make it to Wednesday, though - that was nice too!

What questions are you asking at your appointments now? I've got an appointment tomorrow (I'll start weekly from here on out) and I'll be 35w3d. I feel like I should be asking questions at my visits and I get there and I'm dumbfounded. I did turn in my birthplan at my last visit so that was something and I've asked about routine episitomies but other than that, I can't think of things I should/need to be asking the doctor. What are you asking?

Good question Summer!! Here was my list this morning.
#1-When should I go to the hospital? Who do I call first?
#2-When can I get an epi? :D I also had some questions about my b/p after the epi because mine took such a dive last time.
#3-Does she do episiotomies or let 'er rip?
#4-Who can be in the delivery room?
#5-How do I get the pedi to the hospital to check the baby? (Maybe a dumb question)
DTD-HA! No way! Doesn't sound fun at all!
Amy-I can't believe they are talking induction so early, but for your sake, I am glad. All those contractions must be driving you nutso!
jessey-I am definately pulling my exercise ball out!!

Ashley - I know, it floored me as well. I'd be 38w4d at the induction, though - so it doesn't sound THAT bad when you look at it that way! My doctor is a little concerned that with the constant contractions, coupled with the stress it adds to my body, that it'll be not so good on the baby. He's totally fine with me going into labor on my own - which is what we are ALL hoping for, because I don't relish the idea of induction, either, but I'm honestly more worried about the baby than me. He thinks I'll probably go before then, which is why I have to go back twice between now and next Wed, so that he hopefully can do whatever he can to get me to go naturally. I'm planning on walking some more, and I bought a fresh pineapple just for kicks. I read somewhere though that for pineapple to work would take eating like 7 whole ones, which would also cause serious runs, but it sounded good, and I bought one.
The birthing ball is AWESOME! I have used it so much the last couple of days!!

Busy thread today ladies! I was half expecting some more babies :D
DTD - yeah, we haven't done this in some time. DH has gotten some relief though. When we did do it last time though, me on top was most comfortable for me.
What to ask the doctor - I didn't have too many questions, unfortunately. Since we're going with a c/s, some of the labor questions are now mute.
My date day was/is nice. We decided to go swimmin to cool off - very nice! We came home and took a 3 hour nap after playing with the dog, and we just got back from dinner at Texas Roadhouse. I must say, they only have immovable tables with benches and they are SO not comfortable.

Well, I've officially been having BHs today. It's really the first day I've had multiple ones and noticed them. I've had about 5. Hubby got to feel my stomach for my most recent one. I guess I should slow down and take it easy. I've been on my feet constantly (moving my classroom for the past week from 10am-3:30pm most days). I know all the movement isn't helping any. I've used my birthing ball to help relieve pressure during the contractions when I was at home. I've also had 3 people tell me I've dropped since yesterday. Strange. Maybe I need to take a picture to compare. Also, I'm to the point where I can't cross my legs! :( There goes my lady manners.
I go to the doctor tomorrow. I will schedule my GBS test then (for next week). I'm going to ask again about a NST because the doc I saw 2 weeks ago said they don't do them until your overdue. I'm going to ask again because they seem to be pretty normal to have. I wish I could search about this.

Thanks to everyone who offered some insight on inductions. I am not really too worried about it, but am glad to have some people who have been down that road before. I honestly think only one of my IRL friends had to be induced (and she wasn't thrilled with the event). So here's hoping this is my last full Wednesday to be pregnant...I'm counting down the days now!

Ugh, no free time! I'll try to catch up a little next week when my mom's in town to help out.
Just wanted to say 'wheee!!' to Joelle and I CANNOT wait to hear about little man's arrival!!!
And Ashley, I'm sending you some 'do not undilate!' vibes since I could've used my own on Monday. ;)
Finally, sex... part of me suspects that was what caused me to undilate. Don't know for sure, but it's the only thing that was 'different' between this past week and earlier ones.
Feeling loopy from the pain meds so off I go. Again, good luck, I'm sorry for not doing more SOs, and I wish you all the best....

WOW! Lots to catch up on!!
Welcome, Leslie!!
Bree ~ I hope that baby of yours doesn't make you wait too much longer! Love the VM message ideas! :D
Kathy ~ Good luck w/ choosing a name! Maybe when you meet your baby it will become clear what his name should be.
Jessie ~ Love Birth Day!!
Jenny ~ I'm getting those calls already too...annoying!
Jenn ~ It sounds like you are handling 2 under 2 like a champ!
Ashley ~ Hurray! So jealous of your progress!!! (oh and yes, just have Doug text me when you have the baby....I think I might do a test run today just to make sure it works so keep an eye out for a text from me!)
Amy ~ Yay for an end in sight! Again, jealous that another person due after me will meet her baby before me! ;)
Jen ~ Ah, a swim sounds nice...
Summer ~ Oh yes, my legs are huge and gross right now...yuck. And I've noticed a big drop off with movement too...supposedly it's normal but it scares me (hence why I ended up at L&D last weekend!)
Holly ~ I hope this is your last Thurs being pg!
Sherry ~ Hope you and the family are doing well!!
GOOD LUCK JOELLE!! TODAY IS THE DAY!!
Thanks for the b-day wishes, Bree, Jessie, Jenny, Jenn, Ashley!
Questions: I really haven't had any questions in recent weeks. I might ask tomorrow about how soon I can get an epidural...
***
Well, it seems that Truman and I will not share a b-day afterall...lots of family and friends predicted that we would...not sure why..but I'm glad we will have our own separate b-days!
Have been having a bit more contractions yesterday and this morning. Nothing major but I'm definitely noticing that I'm feeling both tightening of my stomach and crampiness...usually it was just one or the other. Hopefully things are happening! My next appt is tomorrow at 8:15am and I'm anxious to know if I've made any progress.
Does anyone else have very sore joints? It really hurts to bend my fingers, especially in the morning. My feet, hips and knees are sore too...seems like it's getting worse by the day. I was thinking it had something to do w/ hormones loosening ligaments and such...
Another hot one today...might head to the pool at my dad's house for some relief (and I wouldn't have to shave since he's out of town...bonus!)

Good luck today Joelle- can't wait to hear all about it!
One more day of being cooped up in the house because of the extraordinary heat. Then tomorrow I can venture out.
I was a little excited when I got into bed last night because I started cramping in bed (usually its the other way around - cramps stop when I lie down). But I fell asleep and had a pretty good night's sleep - the first night in a long while.
Another day of walking around and rolling on the darn ball.

Good luck today Joelle!! :D
For people interested in DTD to try to induce... I read somewhere that it might not be sex that induces labor, but rather the seamen. And, it doesn't have to be.... uhhh.... accepted vaginally for it to potentially work. I have absolutely NO clue if this works, but if people are worried about it hurting, there are other options.
jennylou
08-03-2006, 07:01 AM
jessey - go DH! Excellent job on his part. :)
babylove - oh yes, I'm ready to have my joints back! Knees, hips, fingers, etc.
Summer - did you do your kick counts? Everything okay?
abby'smom - Hmmm, so having sex you think caused you to undialate - that's not good!
joelle - can't wait to hear the exciting news that your son is here!
what to ask the Dr - let's see, since it's a new practice this go around (last year she was in a bigger group) I asked about who to call if it's off hours. Basically, if it's 3 am, she said to head to L&D, they'd look me over and then call her if needed. If it's decent hours, it sounds like she doesn't mind the heads up that I'm headed in. Basically, she said I could do whatever - she would be called no matter what.
I have also asked about vbac policies at the hospital, their rate of sucess, etc.
I need to ask this week about requesting a certain hall....I'm sure she can talk sweetly to the nurses to accomplish this. I think I'll also bring up how my BP was higher when I had to go to L&D for my 28 week rhogham shot, just so that she's aware it might run slightly higher, at least initially while I'm there.
My appt is tomorrow. I assume she'll strip my membranes again. Hopefully, I've made some progress, what with losing all the mucus plug AND the continued contractions that I've had. It's at 9 am tomorrow - I had wanted to avoid this appt all together since it's so early. :p

Congrats Joelle, E&O, and Ashley! Ashley surprised me - I was catching up this morning and read that she said yesterday how dialated she was and then BAM! a baby today! WOW!!
I was gone all day yesterday running errands and getting my car ready for baby. Oil change, tire rotation, inspection, complete works at the car wash (waxed and polished and everything :) ). I also went to my friend's firestation to have him install the carseat but he was out on a call, so hopefully I will get that done today. So I missed so much in here while I was out!
Questions
I go to the dr. today for the u/s and these are the things I plan to ask about:
*philosophy on episiotomy
*why I am so darn constipated all of the sudden and what to do about it. :o
*swelling - getting even worse
*my low back menstrual-type cramps that kept me up last night
I will check back throughout the day to see if we have any more babies show up today!!

Things really are getting exciting! Congrats on all the new babies.
swallowing - Yes, a good thing to crack us up early in the morning, but seriously...I thought what got things working is the 'ingredient' in semen being applied to the cervix (like Cervadil needs to be applied topically to the cervix) through sex. I didn't realize having in your system would work.
Jennylou - so for non-swallowers, perhaps just doing it could have the same affect as dum dums :)
My parents just left after bringing me groceries (not ones you can buy in normal stores) on their way to their summer house for a long weekend. I am HOPING I get to call them to come back, but probably not.

Back from my doctor's appointment. It was a really quick appointment. I love going in the mornings. Afternoons, I usually wait a good while. I was in and out in about 20 minutes.
I was told by the male doc last time that my GBS test would be done at my next visit so it surprised me when she told me to undress from the waist down. Okay. I love the doctor I was seeing today. She's so gentle, easy to talk to, up-to-date on the information and young. I actually requested her for my last 4 appointments. I will probably switch to make her my primary, too, since I've only seen my primary one 2 times (strange, huh?).
She checked the fundal height (measuring right on track) and we heard the heart beat. Ahhh, wonderful. Anyway, she swabbed and then I asked if she could see if there was any progress made. She said not to get my hopes up this early and that she would try to find my cervix but if she had trouble, she wouldn't pressure and hurt me. Well, it was nothing at all. I thought it would hurt but I guess all those months of me checking my own cervix paid off. She was surprised to tell me I was 1 cm dialated and 50% effaced. She also said the baby's head is, "right there." Great! :) Mom's all nervous! I told her it could still be WEEKS and that 1cm/50% was nothing. I was just glad there was progress being made.
I've been pretty uncomfortable today. I've had another contraction and felt like I would pass out at Target in the checkout line. Baby is getting LOW. I'm going to write some thank you notes out and then lie down and relax (doctor's orders! ;) ).

Isaac finally went down for his nap, now I just need to correct some of the damage he caused this morning. Oh and I guess I should eat something, sometimes I forget about eating how crazy is that? I guess maybe thats why I only have about 4 lbs to go to reach pre-preggo weight. Then I will work on the 20ish extra I had to begin with.

Thank you everyone for the nice welcome. :) It helps with the transition of thinking you're going to have a July baby & then having to change gears to August!
jesseybell So I guess you are in the same boat as me! Just waiting. I've been trying various things to get labor started but none of them have seemed to work.
jennylou I hear ya on people calling! They really start calling once your due date has passed! As far as sex positions go... what has worked for us is both of us laying on our backs (not great for baby but position isn't held for a real long time!) with one leg inbetween DHs & the other on top of his top leg. Does that make any sense? I don't know how else to describe it!
ajlanden What great news about your progress! I hope it happens for you soon.
mrstim Are you concerned about them inducing so early? They say due dates are not exact & can go 2 weeks either way.
babylove Does anyone else have very sore joints? Yes! I've had this for weeks now... mainly only at night & when I first get up. I think it is a combination of the relaxin being released in our bodies (which loosens the joints) & swelling in the fingers. It feels like a very bad case of arthritis! My fingers, hips, & knees hurt the worst when I get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.
E&O I think we traded spots since I was due in July & you were due in August. ;) Congratulations on your baby girl!!!

Chimichanga- Where are you? Are you all set for tomorrow?
Can't Wait - I am just as eager as you to hear how your appointment goes tomorrow. I don't have one until Monday- it can't come fast enough!
I am definitely ready to not be pregnant any more, but now I am in the terrified-of-labor mode. But bring it on! (at least in the next week, please!!)

MY Goodness....I leave for a few hours and all craziness ensues:)
Congrats to Joelle and Welcome Liam!
Congrats to Ajlanden and Welcome David
Congrats to E&O and welcome Katherine...it is great to finally meet " It's a Suprise #2" .
Glad to see that she is home and doing well
Cambynlyn - That is great to see that you are making process...such a great feeling!
Babylove - About the sore joints...YES! My knuckles, knees and ankles are so sore, it is worst in the morning...but it does persist throughout the day as well. Not sure what causes it though
Ok - Little update. I had an appt today. I have dropped another pound...so total weight gain so far 31 pounds. last week I was thinning alittle, but this week she actually found that I was 1cm dialated...and still thinned (although she did not give me a percentage). The good news is....unless she arrives early they have scheduled an induction for next Thursday (Aug 10th) at 10PM!!
So I have a question - Has anyone heard of an induction so late in the evening? Is this normal? My mom just heard on the news that there is a report that says that says morning inductions are less risky that evening....does anyone know about this? Also...they are using Cervidal (s/p?)...never heard of it... just curious what peoples experiences with it are. I am planning on re-reading the induction reponses on this thread, but thought I would throw it out there now before I forget.
Stat updates:
Me, 27
DH, 27
Next appt 8/8
induction scheduled 8/10 10pm

I have heard of people being induced at night and then they let you labor all night and you'll (hopefully!) have the baby the next day-versus potentially starting you in the morning and then having you deliver or c-section in the middle of the night.
I always assumed my mom was induced the night before because I was born at noon - turns out both her inductions only took 4-5 hours. May I be as lucky if I need to/want to be induced!
I can't imagine that one time of the day would be "more risky" than the other.

Summer~ Glad to hear you have made some progress. Exciting!
Welcome Can't Wait!
I just got back a little while ago from my dr. appt. DH was able to come and meet me which was good because we found out that baby boy is breech. *sigh* Not what I wanted to hear. Luckily, he is not engaged and my cervix is tight and closed, so we have a little bit of time to get him to turn around. Dr. G could tell I was not happy but reassured me that we have time. He said that if the baby were engaged, he would have the calendar out to schedule my c/s but he is not ready to do that yet. He just wanted to let us know what the situation was and what the options are well in advance. I go back next Friday for another u/s and we will see what the situation is then. He just doesn't want my water to break with the baby being breech because then it would be an emergency c/s. He said if we have to do the c/s, he would rather it be scheduled than emergency, so we will monitor everything closely. He gave me a couple of ideas of things to do to try to get the baby to turn so I am going to do that. Baby is weighing 5lbs. 11oz. right now, which he says is fine. Of course, DH says he just wants us both to be safe and healthy and we just need to do whatever will ensure that. I agree but am slightly bummed. We'll see though.

So I have a question - Has anyone heard of an induction so late in the evening?
When I was induced with DD they started it at 7pm. I didn't like that. I was up all day waiting to be induced and then delivered her at 5:05am. By the time I got to my postpartum room it was visiting hours and everyone wanted to come. I felt like I couldn't get any sleep until that following night. At my hospital they do all inductions at 6:30am.

Hmmmm...I've never heard of an evening induction. Mine is scheduled for 6am....in 10 days!!
Ok...not to be an alarmist or anything but has anyone heard from mrstim?? She hasn't been online all day today!! Maybe something is happening!!!

Forgive the interuption. I just checked mrstim's journal this is what she wrote today around 3ish according to the time on the post.
I'm fine - I'm spending the day in town with my mom. We just walked 2 hours at the mall - leaving now to go to the other mall! I'm FINE - had a few contrax at the mall, nothing right now.
Congrats to all the new mommies and to the really soon to be's. We are hoping our little one hangs until at least early Sept if not longer, since I am an October mommy. (Right now 100% effaced and 1cm and on bedrest)
Back to lurking.

Thanks, Ericka! Even though I loathe the constant questioning from family and friends about whether I'm in labor, I can't help but be concerned about my fellow August mommies! Especially ones who have been to L&D recently!! Rest up and keep that baby boy baking for a few more weeks!!

I heard this like 30 seconds ago on the news - but it was for surgery, not inductions. :) Duke University did the study if you want to google more on it. :) As for evening inductions, I'm one! My mom was induced (I was over three weeks late) on a Saturday night, pitocin started around midnight - she had me just minutes shy of noon on Sunday.
UTChick - our baby girl was breech at just under 36 weeks and she flipped. Sit on that birth ball, crawl (do a search, as there is a specific way to crawl and makes mom look quite bizarre), sit on a kitchen chair backwards and DON'T sit in a lazy boy chair - at least that's all the information that I found on it. There is also some more involved things, but I'm sure if you google them, you'll find them...those were the easy peasy things. She turned by the following week for me. Also, babies have been known to change position even in labor, so don't give up hope!
I'm Next Group - heck yeah, count me in! :D My DHs cousin, who I consider a friend just called me a bit ago - we're going to go to wings for dinner tonight - even she remembered that I had wings the night before I went into labor with Andrew (we went with her and her DH!). Even she's trying to speed things along for me. :D

jenny~ Thanks for the suggestions. My dr. told me to get on all fours and stick my butt up in the air and put my head on a pillow and hang out for about 2 minutes right before I lie down at night every night. I'll try the birthing ball and kitchen chair thing, too. I am willing to try anything to get him turned around. I emailed a friend whose little girl was breech and turned at the last minute. I am awaiting her suggestions, too! Hope the wings work tonight!!! :D

Can I join the "I'm Next" club too? I woke up every 15 minutes on the dot for about 4 hours last night to go to the bathroom and was just crampy in front and in my back. I wonder if those were contractions? I can't even get the energy up to leave the house - thankfully my mom just went to the store for me.
My best friend brought over a "Labor" salad yesterday that supposedly has sent many women into labor but unfortunately it didn't do a thing. I am *almost* but not quite desperate to jump DH's bones pretty soon although I'm sure I'd have to chase him or tie him down or something because he is soooooooooo not into that at this point. :( Not that I am either.
I apologize for being so bad about SO's - I'm reading along all day but just so lazy.
Can't wait to hear who's next!!!

I want to welcome the new August mommies that just joined our group! :)
This thread has been so active that I'm not going to be able to do individual s/o. I do watch the thread, just have so little time to post since my almost 2 DS has been super demanding of me lately. Maybe he knows he has little time left with just the 2 of us... :o
I had my 38w OB appointment yesterday. Everything checked out nicely, clear urine, good BP, gained a total of 1.5 lbs in the last 4 weeks. The NST showed the baby being very active, and I guess I’m having some contractions that I’m not feeling. She did an internal exam and the baby’s head is low, cervix is softening, and I’m at 1 cm dilated.
Due to my GD, my doctor does not want me to go beyond 40w, so we have scheduled an induction for next Tuesday morning, August 8th.. I will be 39 weeks. We decided to do it earlier than later because I really wanted to be home to spend DS's birthday with him. He's turning 2 next Saturday. I'm not too concerned about the induction since DS was induced as well; he was 10 days early. Although I had a tough and painful labor (my epidural kept wearing off), I'm fully prepared for what's ahead of me. I'm going to make sure every nursing staff is on top of my epidural this time around.
And now, I'm trying to get last minute things done around the house, assuming my DS will allow me to. Am I ready? No, I don't think I will ever be fully ready.

GOODNESS - what a day we've all had!!!!! Thank you so much for worrying about me Tracee - and thanks to Erika for spreading the news!
First off, CONGRATS to Ashley, E&O, and Joelle on their babies! WOW - we're hopping in here!
I went today and did my last grocery shop, plus I met up with my mom and we walked a total of.....get this - 6, yes SIX hours. If walking gets labor started, I should be set. We went around BOTH malls in town three times, stopping in shops along the way. I picked up a few things, not much - but just enough.
I bought a few $5 cheapo gowns at Walmart to take to the hospital, I expect we'll have LOTS of visitors so I wanted more than just the hospital gowns, but I refuse to pay lots of money for something cuter just to bleed on them.
I've had a few painful contractions today, but nothing to write home about. I did lose some more of the wonderful mucus plug at the mall though.
I couldn't even attempt SO's right now - there's just no way!
BUT - for the one who asked if I was worried about induction that early - I'll be 38w4d at induction, so almost 37 weeks if my due date is off by 2 weeks early. Baby Boy is a good healthy size, and my doctor isn't worried at all. I will say this though - I took my LAST birth control pill on November 10th, and my period came Nov. 12th. I got my BFP on December 6th, so there's pretty much no way that I could have ovulated 2 weeks early. :D That's reassuring in my brain at least!!
Anyway - must go put my swollen toesies up - they didn't appreciate walking that much, let me tell you!!!
I go back to the doctor in the morning at 9:15. IF there would be any more progress and he'd decide to do something, LILRTL will be stopping by to let you all know! If not - you should hear from me tomorrow night sometime - DH and I are going out to eat and spending our last Friday night together as a date!

Wow - first off congratulations to the new mommies!!! :D :D
Too busy for SO's - we are hopping today!!
At 10 DH and I went in to the hospital to meet with the nurse and anasthesiologist. They were both super nice and answered all of our questions. They gave me the run through of how tomorrow is going to work - what I'll be doing, what DH will be doing, etc. I had some blood drawn and stuff. We also took another tour of the maternity ward.
After that we went for our NST. Everything was good; she was much less active than she has been in the past, but now she's kicking up a storm.
Then work called and asked if I could come in for a second interview for a position I want when I return. So I had to go and do that. DH installed the car seat in the new SUV and we baked cookies today. Now we're just vegging and watching the Wedding Singer on VH1 (because we haven't seen it enough).
In less than 12 hours I'll have my baby girl - eeps!! :D

I thought something was getting going last night...I had lots of painful contractions for about 2 hours....but then they stopped. When I woke up to pee at some point during the night I had another one. but nothing since I've been up this morning. My appt is at 8:15 so we'll see if there's been progress! The one thing that scares me (gee, there's only ONE?!) is that most of the discomfort was in my BACK! Does that mean I'm headed for back labor??
mrstim
08-04-2006, 04:55 AM
WAY TO GO JEN! :D Thinking 'bout ya!
Tracee - not sure, I know I have LOTS of discomfort in my back as well. I hope we're not both cursed with that - both my mom and grandma NEVER had belly contractions, only back and they said it wasn't pretty. :( YAY for contractions though, right?!
I'm generally crampy over here as well - every time I stand up to go somewhere I have to hold my belly up. I also go to the doctor this morning, so we'll see if anything changes on our end too! Even with the Tylenol PM last night I could only sleep until about 5, since then I've just laid there. I went ahead and got up so I can sweep out the bathrooms and scrub down the kitchen before jumping into the shower - every time I leave for the doctor I make sure the house is clean - I'd hate to go into labor and know my house wasn't ready for me to come home - DH said he'd call my MIL to come do it, but uh.....no. ;)
Maybe we'll have some more babies in here today!!!!

And good luck at your appts., Tracee and Amy. Hope you get good news. :)

No baby from me today :(
Just glad it is Friday and it isn't hot, so I can get out of the house and go food shopping, and then DH will be home all weekend. Maybe I can relax a little more over the weekend and maybe that will get something started. Otherwise, our dr appt is first thing Monday morning.

Congrats to all the new mommies! Welcome David, Liam, and Katherine!
Evening Inductions ~ My SIL was induced in the evening with her first. No progress was made so they sent her home and had her return in the AM. She really thought nothing was going on at all, but as she walked from the parking garage to the hospital her water broke and she was at 10 cm in like 3 hours!
What kinds of outfits are people using for the babies "Going Home" outfit? I had a winter baby to bundle up last time so I am not sure how to dress this one.
