My 5 mo old has slept in his car seat for the past 3 months because of pretty severe acid reflux. He sleeps great in it. But, I know I need to get him out of it soon. Any suggestions how to make this transition as smooth as possible? I know I am probably in for a few sleepless nights and probably the reason I have been delaying it. His reflux is much better so there really is not a need for him to be in it anymore, except for me to get sleep!!
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Good luck - my DD slept in her car seat for 4 months also - the car seat was in our room in her bassinet. First step was to put the car seat in her crib in her room - that went on for a few weeks...then I started having her nap out of the car seat. Then she bounced from the crib to in bed with me for a while.
I did elevate the crib and she sleeps on a wedge - and she is still loosely swaddled, which I am trying to break now at 9 months.
Sleeping has not been easy for us. Good luck!

My DS slept in the car seat from about one month to 4 months old. Like, cr8zy he slept in the carseat, in the bassinet in our room. We did exactly what she did...start slowly transitioning by just keeping him still in the carseat, but moving him into the crib and do naps without the car seat in the crib. This went on a couple of weeks and we were really afraid to take the final step and take him out of the carseat until one night it seemed he just wasn't comfortable in there and wanted room to roll around. We took him out of the carseat, laid him down on the mattress and crossed our fingers. :) He slept great that night and has been without the car seat ever since. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. Fortunately, his car seat has been in his crib, so we only have to transition him out of the car seat. I am going to start with the naps and go from there. Who knows, he may surprise me and sleep better!

I found my DD did sleep better - I think she was getting too big to really get comfy in the car seat!!
Good luck!
