LOHAN TO CELEBRATE 19TH BIRTHDAY MULTIPLE TIMES: Lindsay Lohan has decided to go all out for her 19th birthday - by having as many parties as she can before her big day. The Freaky Friday star will actually turn 19 on July 2, but she kicked off celebrations early, by partying with a group of pals - including Nicole Richie and David Spade - at Hollywood hot-spot Basque on Sunday. She says, "My friend and I are having a contest... It was just her birthday and she had like 10 birthdays. She kept saying it was her birthday and she kept getting cake at dinner, so we're having a contest. I started my birthday the other night after the Herbie: Fully Loaded premiere... It was small. I had friends. I did a small dinner, but I probably will have something else. I'll be in Minnesota. I'm filming a movie over there." LONDON (Reuters) - Former Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson, dubbed The Body during her career, and her Swiss financier boyfriend Arpad Busson have decided to separate after nine years together, the couple said on Friday.

"Whilst remaining the greatest of friends, we have decided to spend some time apart to consider our future," they said in a joint statement.

"We have had, and in many ways continue to have, a wonderful relationship, which has produced two beautiful children.

"In consideration of our sons' welfare, our priority lies with our responsibilities as parents.

"There is no third party involved."

Macpherson, 41, built on her success as a model to win roles in films including "Batman and Robin". She now has her own line of women's underwear, Elle Macpherson Intimates.

Macpherson, previously married to French photographer Gilles Bensimon, has two sons from her relationship with Busson.

Vanna White to Get Star on Walk of Fame


LOS ANGELES (AP) -- There's a new venue for Vanna White's letter turning. The "Wheel of Fortune" game show star will be unveiling the letters V-A-N-N-A W-H-I-T-E on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year.

She's among the dozens of celebrities who will be enshrined in 2006 with concrete stars along the celebrity sidewalk.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce released on Friday the eclectic list of Walk of Fame recipients, including White, Annette Bening, Matthew Broderick, Holly Hunter, William Hurt, Nathan Lane, Steve Martin, Charlize Theron, Ray Romano, Isaac Hayes and Motley Crue.

"Each name on this list will bring much happiness to our residents and tourists from around the world," Walk of Fame chairman and Hollywood honorary mayor Johnny Grant said.

LOS ANGELES - Nicole Kidman says she would love to have a witch's powers for a day — especially if it's a bad day.

"It's kind of nice to be able to, if you're pissed off, blow up the cappuccino machine and make a dog jump into your arms and (have) him speak in tongues," the actress told AP Radio.

On a more serious note, Kidman said taking on the role made famous by Elizabeth Montgomery in the 1964-72 ABC series posed several physical challenges. According to Kidman, she "needed a mirror and the slo-mo (button) on the VCR" to master twitching her nose ... and an even more difficult task was sitting on the broom in a lady-like pose.

"You get harnessed and they lift it up," she said. "You're flying and thinking, 'Does this look OK? Cross your legs!'"

Kidman said she also felt self-conscious about being on the set with Montgomery's husband, William Asher, who has a cameo in the film.

"(He's) an extra in one of the (scenes)," she said. "He'd visit the set a lot, and I always felt slightly uncomfortable that he was looking at me thinking, 'She's not at all like her.'"

Six Feet Under star Rachel Griffiths – who plays former wild child Brenda – is a mom again, her publicist tells PEOPLE exclusively.

The Australian-born actress, 36, and her husband of 2 1/2 years, artist Andrew Taylor, welcomed their daughter at a Los Angeles hospital on Thursday. They expect to announce the baby's name early next week.

Mother and baby are doing fine and the family is "extremely happy," says her rep.

The new arrival weighed 8 lbs. and is the second child for the couple, who also have a 17-month-old son, Banjo Patrick – named for Australian poet Andrew Barton "Banjo" Paterson. (Husband Taylor is also from Down Under.)

HBO's Six Feet Under is currently in its fifth and final season. Griffiths's character is romantically involved with Fisher family member Nate, played by Peter Krause.

While winner Fantasia, runner-up Diana DeGarmo and fifth-place finisher George Huff have already released records, sixth-place finalist John Stevens is lined up to be next. The crooner's debut, Red, is due Tuesday.

The album, which features production work from veterans David Foster and Steve Tyrell, includes standards like "All of Me" and "It Had to Be You," as well as a cover of Maroon 5's "This Love."

"It's more jazzy," Stevens, who just graduated from high school, said of his version of "This Love." "It was [Maverick Records chief] Guy Oseary's idea. I didn't really know how it would work, but it turned out well."

Following shortly after Stevens will be third-place singer Jasmine Trias, whose self-titled debut, which she describes as "very R&B, very soulful, with a little bit of edge," is due July 12 on Aloha Music International. The first single, "Excuses," has been shipped to radio stations.

"It's about a girl who really loves this guy, but she's not sure if he's really feeling her, so he's making excuses why he can't be with her," Trias explained. "I feel so grateful to be releasing an album. 'American Idol' was one thing, but this is a dream come true."

Fourth-place finisher La Toya London, a favorite of "Idol" critics, also has a release date set. Her debut, Love & Life, is due September 20 on Concord Records.

London is shooting a video for the first single, "Appreciate," this week in Los Angeles. Black Thought from the Roots guests on the track. "I have some other tricks up my sleeve, but I want to keep it a secret," she said.

Huff, who's already released a Christmas EP (My Christmas EP!), is working on a full-length for Word Records. Camile Velasco, meanwhile, is signed with Motown Records.

"Hopefully I'll be coming out with a single by the end of the summer and album in the fall," said Velasco, who is working with Pras from the Fugees.

Finally, Jon Peter Lewis has released a single through his Web site and is shopping an album to labels. "Most of the production is done, so it should be out later this year," Lewis said. "I really like this song 'Plastic on the Inside.' It's about plastic surgery, so it's pretty topical."

The fledgling thespian is in discussions to co-star in "Hustle & Flow" director Craig Brewer's "Black Snake Moan," according to The Hollywood Reporter. If Justin ends up signing on for the project, he'll be working alongside Samuel L. Jackson and Christina Ricci.

Of course, Justin's no tenderfoot in front of the camera. In the forthcoming "Alpha Dog," Timberlake flaunts his acting chops as a fictional member of a drug gang led by Jesse James Hollywood, who orchestrated the kidnapping and brutal murder of a 15-year-old in August 2000; the film stars box-office biggies Bruce Willis and Sharon Stone (see "Justin Timberlake To Begin His Life Of Crime Next Week"). He also stars alongside Kevin Spacey, Morgan Freeman and LL Cool J in "Edison" (see "Justin Timberlake Goes To Court To Prep For Film Role"), as a young journalist who uncovers an elite unit of corrupt cops. And he's signed on to voice a young King Arthur in the third installment of the "Shrek" franchise (see "Justin Timberlake Will Learn His Lesson In 'Shrek 3' ").

The plot of "Black Snake Moan" revolves around a nymphomaniac (Ricci) who enlists an older bluesman (Jackson) to help "cure" her disorder. Timberlake would play Ricci's boyfriend, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Not only would the film make a nice addition to Timberlake's blooming film career, it would give him a chance to spend a little time in his hometown: "Black Snake Moan" is set to begin shooting in September in Memphis.

Victoria Beckham chose to adopt the lady of Spain look - stepping out in a sweeping flamenco-style dress.

Cool and elegant in the blue and white creation, the former Posh Spice made her way with husband David from Claridge's hotel in central London to Elton John's annual summer party.

The couple have a home in Spain following the soccer's star's move to Real Madrid and Victoria was clearly making a bow to the country's traditional fashion.

However, as they travelled to Sir Elton's White Tie and Tiara charity ball at the star's Windsor mansion, she was tiara-less and Beckham was white tie-less.

As well as the Beckhams - who flew back from a holiday in St Tropez for the event - guests included Liz Hurley with Arun Nayar and Rod Stewart with Penny Lancaster.

Even so, the 58-year-old host clearly felt the need to make it plain that he did not want to mix with any riff-raff. One guest, herself advised of the evening's bizarre rule, said: "I was staggered when I was told not to approach Elton. To be honest, it is absurd. I have been to the white-tie party in previous years and all the guests mingled very informally.

"Because only the creme de la creme are invited, they can let their hair down.

Denise Richards has revealed her split from husband Charlie Sheen has sent her into a spiral of depression.

The stunning actress filed for divorce from the Hollywood hellraiser in March after three years of marriage - amid allegations the star had cheated on her with prostitutes.

Richards, 34, has now been left to bring up the couple's two daughters, 15-month-old Sam and new arrival Lola, alone and admits she is finding it a struggle.

She said: "Life is what it is I just have to make the best of it The split was the hardest decision of my life".

"I never in a million years thought I would be in the position I am today".

The beautiful brunette, who still refuses to give details as to why she brought divorce proceedings against Sheen, admits the split has left her devastated.

Richards claims some days she feels so low she can barely function, but has to stay positive for the sake of her children .

"She told American magazine Us Weekly: "Right now, I'm thinking about being a good mom.

"I have many moments where I'm not feeling brave. But at home, I have two girls to now focus on. I have to put on a brave face. I have to take care of them, be happy and keep things positive. It's really important."

LOS ANGELES - When “Ray” star Jamie Foxx won a best actor Oscar in February, he shouted out, “wow, wow, wow, wow!”

Now the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is offering him another wow-worthy honor: membership in the organization.

The Academy announced Friday that it has invited Foxx and 111 other notables within the film community to join in 2005.

That number, down from 150 in past years, represents the Academy’s new goal of selectivity to slow its growth, said spokesman John Pavlik.

This year’s crop spans the gamut from “Bewitched” comedian Will Ferrell to Mexican heartthrob Gael Garcia Bernal (“The Motorcycle Diaries”).

Thirty-three Oscar nominees were asked, including actors Clive Owen (“Closer”) and Thomas Haden Church (“Sideways”), actresses Sophie Okonedo (“Hotel Rwanda”) and Catalina Sandino Moreno (“Maria Full of Grace”), and screenwriter Paul Haggis (“Million Dollar Baby”).

Committees representing the Academy’s 14 branches, including film editors, producers and art directors, propose and vote on would-be members before leaving final say to the Board of Governors.

Oscar nominees, if not already a part of the Academy, are automatically considered, though not necessarily invited to join.

New members will be inducted into the Academy at an invitation-only reception Sept. 21.

LOS ANGELES - Lindsay Lohan had a little run-in with Herbie, her Love Bug co-star in the new film, “Herbie: Fully Loaded.”

Lohan plays Maggie Peyton, the new owner of No. 53, the freewheeling Volkswagen Beetle with a mind of its own. She puts the car through its paces on the road to becoming a NASCAR competitor.

When she shot the music video for her song “First” with Herbie, “the car just didn’t stop,” Lohan recently told reporters, according to AP Radio.

“The door flung open and hit me in the video and I kind of looked at Herbie and had to turn down the other way and then I felt the car rolling and not stopping.”

Lohan says Herbie ran over her foot.

The 18-year-old actress said she didn’t know much about Herbie’s first movie, 1969’s “The Love Bug,” which starred Dean Jones, Michele Lee and Buddy Hackett.

“I had known of Herbie but I hadn’t seen the movie. And I didn’t want to watch it before I started ’cause I didn’t want to have the pressure like I’d put on myself when I did ‘Freaky Friday’ of living up to the expectations that people might have of the original. And so I watched it in the middle of the movie.”

Lohan’s screen credits also include “The Parent Trap” and “Mean Girls.”

LOS ANGELES - A federal judge yesterday shut down the Notorious B.I.G. wrongful-death trial so lawyers can probe a new bombshell tip that two corrupt cops allegedly confessed to the rapper's murder and the LAPD buried the information.

B.I.G.'s family's lawyer, Perry Sanders, said the shocker came Thursday night from a telephone tipster, possibly a current or former Los Angeles Police Department officer.

The caller said he attended a police disciplinary hearing Dec.11, 2000, when two jailhouse snitches revealed "they had information regarding confessions to this homicide" by jailed crooked cops David Mack and Rafael Perez, Sanders said.

The tipster, who gave his name only as Frank, said the informants "were advised to stop" discussing the alleged confessions and the matter was hushed up, Sanders said.

Mack is currently in prison for bank robbery and Perez is doing time for his role in Los Angeles' Rampart police corruption scandal.

The identities of the informants, who reportedly were jailed with Perez, were not revealed, and it is unknown whether any of what they said is true.

Police disciplinary hearings are taped or transcribed by a court reporter, so the judge ordered city lawyers to dig up the records, share them with B.I.G.'s family's lawyers and report back Monday.

B.I.G. - or Biggie Smalls - was born Christopher Wallace in Brooklyn.

He was shot dead March 9, 1997, six months after West Coast rival rapper Tupac Shakur was killed. B.I.G.'s family is suing the City of Los Angeles and the LAPD, claiming Mack, acting as an agent of Marion (Suge) Knight's Death Row Records, killed the beefy rapper and that the police department covered it up.

Testimony is set to resume Tuesday, unless Judge Florence Cooper orders a further delay.

(AP) The reigning Miss World, Peru's Maria Julia Mantilla, is considering suing her plastic surgeon, claiming that he's stretching the truth about the work he did on her.

"He has said that I'm his product, the product of Peruvian plastic surgery, and says he molded my body, that he removed fat, and everything," the 20-year-old beauty queen told The Associated Press on Wednesday. "He's talking about things he never did."

She said Cesar Morillas, one of Peru's most sought-after plastic surgeons, did give her a nose job and breast augmentation in February 2004. Ten months later, the aspiring high school teacher was crowned Miss World in the southern Chinese beach resort of Sanya.

Mantilla denied that Morillas operated on her ears, chin, eyebrows and lips as was suggested in before-and-after photographs of her profile supplied by the plastic surgeon to the daily newspaper El Mundo in Spain.

"That violates his professional ethics," she said.

Morillas did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment.

She added that Morillas had made reference to surgery he never performed in two Peruvian magazines.

Mantilla said she fulfilled the terms of a promotional agreement with Morillas to publicize his clinic in exchange for the plastic surgery but that the contract ran out in April, and he is still "looking for publicity."

"He says I am his greatest accomplishment. In other words, I'm here thanks to everything he did," she said. "I don't believe surgery changed my essence."

Guess which performer has been so "difficult" with his nine-to-five negotiations, according to some ABC sources, that he was asked not to attend the recent upfronts in New York?

That's right. It's a he (the girliest eyebrows in the Biz if you ask me), Jesse Metcalfe.

"He showed up in New York," relayed a top Desperate source of mine. "He was in a T-shirt and jeans and was asked to leave."

Pray tell, this can't be true! What does the hunky gardener have to say for himself?

"Jesse wasn't even in New York," said J.M.'s flack, who was concerned enough with this item he interrupted his London vacay. "There was never any problem with Jesse and the show."

Nicotine patches to cure Harry's 20-a-day habit

Prince Harry is wearing nicotine patches in a desperate attempt to kick his 20-a-day cigarette habit, according to Army sources.

The 20-year-old Prince has been a regular smoker since he started at Eton when he was 15. But the tough officer training regime at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst is said to have persuaded him to try to give up.

Sandhurst insiders say Harry has found the physical training at the officer cadet school in Camberley, Surrey, 'very taxing'.

One source said: "Running with a pack on and full kit is very hard work, even for a young chap like Cadet Windsor, who is naturally fit from playing polo and other sports. You need full lung capacity to do well, and smoking fags doesn't help."

Harry is understood to have begun wearing the patches a fortnight ago after his first five weeks at Sandhurst. If he does succeed in quitting, it will please Prince Charles, who is vehemently anti-smoking and has regularly asked his youngest son to stop.

Charles - who has banned anyone from lighting up inside his country home at Highgrove, Gloucestershire - blames cigarettes for the deaths of his aunt Princess Margaret and grandfather King George VI.

Harry's older brother, William, 22, gave up his ten-a-day habit two years ago. And three years ago his stepmother, the Countess of Cornwall, kicked her lifelong 40-a-day addiction, aided by nicotine patches and yoga sessions from an alternative health guru.

Country queen LeAnn Rimes, who returned to her summer tour last week after a vocal cord injury, may make a move to the movies with a starring role in ``Dixie Storms.''

The flick, written by the Back Bay's Christy Cashman and produced by her Saint Aire Productions, is about a grief-stricken gal from a small Southern Baptist town who finds solace singing the blues in her cousin's juke joint.

``LeAnn loved the script and expressed some interest in doing it,'' said Saint Aire's Laura Bernieri. ``We're going through the process right now.

``I think she got the bug after working on four songs for `Coyote Ugly,' '' she told the Track. ``But, you know, all singers and musicians want to be in the movies.''

Of course they do. Just like actors who like to flex their musical muscles - Russell Crowe, Keanu Reeves, Kevin Bacon, Bruce Willis, blahdee blah blah . . .

I think I'm the only person in the universe who thinks Maddox is just an average looking kid. I feel bad that he's caught up int he scandal, though. No kid deserves to have his pic plastered on magazine covers with adultery-type headlines.

And I don't think there's any possibility of them forming a real, lasting family. Angelina's too much of a whore/sex addict. I don't think she's capable of settlign down with any one person, male or female.

'Bewitched' Statue Goes Up in Salem

SALEM, Mass. (June 16) - Welcomed by many - including the mayor and some city councilors - but reviled by others, a statue of 1960s TV icon Samantha Stephens of ''Bewitched'' was unveiled amid a puff of smoke in Salem on Wednesday.

The statue depicts the late actress Elizabeth Montgomery, who played the nose-wiggling Stephens in the 1960s sitcom, sitting sidesaddle on a broomstick, her skirt flying behind her in the breeze, in front of a crescent moon.

Even though hundreds turned out to welcome the statue at Lappin Park, including some people who call themselves witches, others continued to protest.

''I think it's the best thing to happen to Salem in a long time,'' self-described witch Linda Monroe told WHDH-TV. ''It's a long time coming for something so fun and cheery. She's awesome. She's everybody's idol.''

While some Salem officials said the bronze statue, sponsored by the TV Land cable network, is just a bit of fun and will hopefully draw more tourists to the city, others have criticized it, saying it trivializes the real and tragic events that occurred in Salem in 1692, when 20 people were put to death after being accused of witchcraft.

Those people carried signs at Wednesday's event that said ''Tragedy (does not equal) Whimsy'' and ''Is there no limit to the schlock and hype?'' They say the statue is nothing but an ad for the ''Bewitched'' movie, starring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell, scheduled for release June 24.

The ceremony was attended by show director William Asher, who was married to Montgomery, as well as a number of actors who appeared in the original series, including Bernard Fox (Dr. Bombay), Kasey Rogers (Louise Tate) and Erin Murphy (Tabitha Stephens).

The network has placed similar statues of famous sitcom characters around the country, including Brooklyn bus driver Ralph Kramden of ''The Honeymooners'' at the Port Authority in New York and Mary Richards in Minneapolis, where ''The Mary Tyler Moore'' show was set.

SHIVER me timbers! Keira Knightley paid £3,000 for a comfy spot at Glastonbury - and still had to deal with a couple of bladdered yobs.

The 20-year-old Pirates Of The Caribbean beauty had taken her Irish model beau Jamie Dornan to the Somerset site for what was supposed to be a cosy love-in with the occasional band thrown in for good measure.

Instead Keira ended up doing a runner when some boozed-up festival-goers went out of their way to make her life miserable.

Our mole at the exclusive Marks Bar party, which also hosted supermodels Jodie Kidd and Erin O'Connor, tells us: "It was an invitation-only event but somehow these two drunk Danish guys managed to get in.

"Everyone had been having a great night until they arrived and Keira and Jamie were acting more lovey-dovey than ever."

We're told the dopey Danes sat at a table close to the Bend It Like Beckham babe and started flashing their torches in her eyes. Our informer goes on: "For some reason they picked on Keira and seemed hell-bent on getting a reaction. They were taking the p*** out of her voice and being extremely loud and annoying."

Keira, who had been slumming it in a luxury camper van at Somerset's Windinglake Farm, turned up with her hunky boyfriend at about 11pm.

The pair snuggled up together on the chairs outside before joining pals to celebrate a birthday. But the two yobs caught sight of the Teddington-born star, and when a table near to her became available they moved in.

We're told: "Keira smiled and tolerated them at first, but when they talked so loudly over her conversation, she started looking daggers at them.

"After the torch shining incident and the rude way they were teasing her about her posh voice it all got too much".

Poor Keira then insisted Jamie and her pals leave the party immediately - and took them off to a soiree at swanky new bar Hey Joe. But the the not-so-great Danes were in hot pursuit...

"Soon after she arrived the guys who'd upset her so much at the first party pitched up. They went to sit opposite her but Keira wasn't having any of it," we're told.

"She could probably sense a confrontation brewing so she grabbed Jamie and left. She made the best of the rest of the weekend - but this definitely put a dampener on things."

An huge annual fireworks display is expected to get a fundraising boost from Grammy-winning rapper Eminem. Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, grew up in the Detroit area and lives in suburban Rochester Hills.

"The fireworks are a big part of summertime in Detroit, and I want to support them and the mayor," the rapper said in a statement. "I've come downtown to watch them since I was a kid, and I'll get involved in something that helps the city any way I can."

This year's fireworks had been threatened by a budget dispute. Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick initially threatened to cancel the show, saying budget cuts prevented adequate police presence, but later retracted that threat.

Eminem agreed to perform one song to open a fundraising party on Wednesday after Kilpatrick sought his support for the event, organizers said. About 2,000 tickets are expected to be sold for the $175-a-ticket party, organizers said.

"Whenever this song is on the radio I turn it up nice and loud" she told iTunes. "I love listening to legendary Australian songs as they remind me of home."

The Australian movie star selected 18 songs for an iTunes playlist with a little help from her daughter Bella. "My daughter and I chose these together because we always recommend music to each other" she said. "Her recommendations on the list are "Hollaback Girl," "Don't Phunk With My Heart," "Jesus Walks," "Lean Back," and "Ms. Jackson." The other songs are just a compilation of past and present favorites."

Nicole also chose U2 'Where the Streets Have No Name' ("I love U2, they are so talented and I love listening to their music no matter what I'm doing. This is one of their best songs), The Police 'Walking on the Moon' (I like putting this song on when I am hanging around at home as it's easy to listen to) and David Bowie 'Heroes' ("David Bowie is a music legend and this song would be my favorite of his.")

Actress denies reports of upcoming wedding to ‘Garage’ star

To wed or not to wed? That is the question.

And currently, that is the question surrounding actress Sandra Bullock, 40, and her beau — "Monster Garage" stud Jesse James, 35.

The cover of the new Us Weekly boasts a picture of Bullock with the words "Sandra's Surprise Wedding," and suggests the two are ready to tie the knot after dating for a little over a year.

However, in a statement released to Access Hollywood, a spokesperson for Bullock says the reports of the impending nuptials are "absolutely not true" and that Sandra has no plans to get married.

The article even goes as far as to give the date and place of the wedding — July 16 in Santa Barbara, California.

Additionally, Us reports that Sandra's sister visited a Los Angeles bakery to commission them to make the wedding cake.

But the real story?

Sandra's sister is a pastry chef and visited the bakers to inquire about renting a space to open up her own business.

Some of Bullock's past romances have included actors Tate Donovan, Ryan Gosling and Matthew McConaughey. James was married to adult film star Janine Lindemulder from 2002-2004.

Sandra and Jesse met in December 2003.

Group leaves door open for reunion: 'We're still very young, and it's not smart to say 'never,' Beyoncé says.

Fans might have been surprised when Destiny's Child announced last week that they're splitting after their U.S. tour — but the girls say that the news was something they had planned even as they were making their fifth and final album. "It's not a coincidence that the album is called Destiny Fulfilled," Beyoncé Knowles revealed.

Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams talked about the different directions they wanted to take with their various solo projects — musical and otherwise — while they were in the studio, and realized that they could never really pursue those interests and remain a group, too. "What if something comes up and it falls right on a tour date?" Rowland pointed out. So they ultimately came to the decision that if they were to break up, they should do it while they were on top — and more importantly, while they were still friends (see "Destiny's Child Announce Split").

"It's not our last record because one of us wants to go solo, or because we don't get along or because we don't like each other anymore, or because of cattiness," Knowles said. "It's because it's the end of this chapter in our lives. We've been doing this for 14 years now, and our destinies have been fulfilled."

"All great things come to an end," Rowland added. "Destiny's Child is more than just us being on stage or in the studio. We genuinely love each other and I'm going to see their kids, and their kids' kids, and they're going to see my kids. I love these girls."

While they don't have any immediate plans to collaborate, they hope to continue working together in new guises — such as popping up on each other's solo albums, or starring in a Broadway play together.

For now, though, Williams will be heard singing a remake of Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" in Gap's new fall ads, and hopes to eventually open a day spa and do a bath-and-body product line. Rowland, who's showcasing her indie romantic comedy "The Seat Filler" on select dates of the DC tour, wants to audition for more acting roles. And Knowles, who will record a soundtrack single for her "Pink Panther" film in the fall, said she plans to start rehearsing in December for her role as Deena in the big-screen remake of the musical "Dreamgirls," which will shoot from January through April.

"I've been dreaming about this role," she said. "I can't even talk about it, I'm so excited. Finally, I have a role that has so many layers — it's dramatic, it's funny, I play her young, I play her older. You see the journey of her growing up, and it's really emotional. It's perfect. It's a real part. I get to act, and I don't think I've ever really done that yet." In the meantime, there will be more Destiny's Child via a live DVD they plan to film on the Atlanta stop of the tour, and a best-of album is in the works.

As for a possible reunion down the road, Beyoncé said, "Who knows? We're still very young, and it's not smart to say 'never.' It's not the end."

Harmon and her husband, former New York Giants football star Jason Sehorn, welcomed Avery Grace Sehorn on Wednesday in her hometown of Dallas, publicist Troy Nankin says. The pair already have a 20-month-old daughter, Finley Faith.

Nankin says Harmon, Sehorn and their daughters will spend the rest of the summer in Harmon's hometown of Dallas before returning to Los Angeles in the fall.

Harmon, 32, and Sehorn, 34, were married in Texas in June 2001, a year after Sehorn proposed to the actress on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Harmon's next movie role is with Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni in a remake of the 1977 film Fun with Dick and Jane.

Prominent rapper Lil Jon is seeking to sever ties with his label, TVT Records, the Daily News has learned.

The king of crunk will no longer promote any singles from his current multiplatinum album, "Crunk Juice," sources said.

He's told associates he will not record another CD for TVT.

"He's unhappy," a source said. "It's about money."

TVT president Steve Gottlieb told the Daily News, "Lil Jon and TVT have had huge success building the crunk movement together and we fully expect to enjoy even greater success in the future."

A former Atlanta club deejay, platinum and diamond-toothed Lil Jon is one of TVT's most prominent acts and has helped make TVT the country's biggest independent record label.

He pioneered the highly popular crunk music genre, a loud, raunchy form of southern hip hop, and has collaborated with stars like Usher and the Ying Yang Twins, another act on TVT's roster.

The word crunk comes from a mix of crazy and drunk.

Lately Lil Jon has been producing records for Trillville and Lil Scrappy, two acts signed to his own label, BME Records, which is distributed by Warner Bros. Records.

Lil Jon is the second chart-topping artist in a matter of months to attempt to leave a label.

In May, superstar rock band Linkin Park said it wanted out of its Warner Music deal and is refusing to deliver its next album.

TVT recently suffered a big legal setback when an appeals court reversed a judge's ruling that would have forced a rival, Island Def Jam, and one of its former execs, Lyor Cohen, to pay it $53 million. TVT will now receive just $126,720.

In its high-profile case against Def Jam, TVT charged the label and Cohen with reneging on a deal to allow a Def Jam artist, Ja Rule, to perform on a TVT album.

TVT said it would appeal the appellate court's decision.

After a federal judge last Friday granted a preliminary injunction that would have forced Warner Bros. to cancel its Aug. 5 release of The Dukes of Hazzard, the studio has settled a lawsuit filed by producer Robert B. Clark for an undisclosed sum. Clark had charged that when Warners bought TV rights to his 1975 film Moonrunners, on which the original Dukes of Hazzard series was based, it did not also buy movie rights. In issuing injunctive relief last Friday, Judge Allen Feess remarked, "Plaintiffs have shown a likelihood that they will be able to prove at trial that they have an ownership interest in the Dukes of Hazzard film." Neither side would discuss the settlement outcome.

Martin Scorsese doesn't let every actor rewrite his movies - but then, not every actor brings so much life experience to a role as Jack Nicholson.

Word is the two-time Oscar-winner has been tinkering with the script for Scorsese's "The Departed" - including the sex scenes.

"Jack didn't feel there was enough Jack in his character," a spy tells us.

So Nicholson, who plays a Boston Irish gangster named Costello, called for a polish to William Monahan's script.

"Jack actually did some of the writing himself," says our spy.

But we're told it wasn't a pen he used for revising a scene in which he gets busy with two women.

"Jack suggested using a [prosthetic appendage]," adds the source. "He also wanted to dust the [posterior] of one of the actresses with cocaine. Marty said, 'Go for it!'"

A Warner Bros. rep would say only, "It's not at all uncommon for dialogue to be fine-tuned during production. Everyone is extremely pleased with the way this shoot is proceeding."

Nicholson is in Massachusetts, where he just got together in Hyannis Port with Sen. Ted Kennedy.

Oprah's best friend Gayle King tell "The Insider" that Winfrey has canceled an order for a Birkin bag. Birkin is the handmade bag that Hermes is famous for.

Oscar-nominated actor Jude Law has cemented his status as a theatre supporter, donning a hard hat for the topping out ceremony of the newly rebuilt Young Vic.

Jude, who got his first taste of show biz watching plays there as a child, is known to be fond of the renowned theatre. The high-paid Hollywood star performed in the 1999 Young Vic production of Tis Pity She's A Whore and 2002's Doctor Faustus, taking home under £300 a week.

Thursday's appearance with actress Helen McCrory atop the new building is just his latest effort to focus the spotlight on the theatre. As its Campaign Patron, he has championed fundraising for the project since early 2004.

The West End theatre's world famous auditorium has been left intact by the refurbishment, but virtually every other aspect of the hall has been replaced. The "old" Young Vic, built in 1969, was intended as a temporary venue with just a five-year life span.

After a federal judge last Friday granted a preliminary injunction that would have forced Warner Bros. to cancel its Aug. 5 release of The Dukes of Hazzard, the studio has settled a lawsuit filed by producer Robert B. Clark for an undisclosed sum. Clark had charged that when Warners bought TV rights to his 1975 film Moonrunners, on which the original Dukes of Hazzard series was based, it did not also buy movie rights. In issuing injunctive relief last Friday, Judge Allen Feess remarked, "Plaintiffs have shown a likelihood that they will be able to prove at trial that they have an ownership interest in the Dukes of Hazzard film." Neither side would discuss the settlement outcome.

After former American Idol contestant Corey Clark went public with his claim that he had an affair with Paula Abdul--complete with TV interviews, tell-all book and confessional album--it appeared unlikely that he could sink any lower in his quest for headlines.

However, as we all know, appearances can be deceiving.

The "Paulatics" singer was cited on a misdemeanor battery charge Saturday after getting into an alleged food fight with his record company manager over breakfast in a Sacramento hotel room.

According to police, Clark, 24, and Laura Kathleen Troy, 34, were discussing an incident from Clark's Friday night concert in West Sacramento, when the conversation escalated into a flatware-hurling free-for-all that was loud enough to spur other hotel guests into calling the police.

Both Clark and Troy suffered scratches in the breakfast brawl, though police said the injuries did not seem serious. No word on what manner of foodstuffs were thrown.

Clark was ordered to appear in Sacramento County Superior Court on July 22 to face the music over the food fight.

Troy was reportedly uncooperative and did not want to press charges against the ex-Idol contestant, but police said it is standard practice to cite and release those charged with misdemeanor battery.

Though an initial report in the Sacramento Bee referred to Troy as Clark's girlfriend, police said there was no indication that the twosome were romantically involved. They had booked separate rooms in the hotel and were simply dining together when the fight broke out.[/quote]

There's good news and bad news for Jessica Simpson. The good news is women covet her luscious locks (more on that later). The bad news? The tabloids continue to insist her marriage to Nick Lachey is on the brink of implosion, despite the couple's repeated denials.

According to the New York Post, Nick nixed a planned shindig to celebrate the launch of his new MTV reality show -- the oh-so cleverly titled "The Nick Lachey Project" -- because of "marital issues."

"Not that it's shocking to anyone, but there's major trouble in paradise," a source tattles to the paper ("paradise," by the mole's definition, is apparently a place filled with constantly hovering TV cameras, paparazzi and creepy family members).

Another source adds that a split won't happen anytime soon because of the "Newlyweds'" business obligations. "If Nick and Jessica were to get divorced, it would be after their next ABC special in the fall," the spy explains to the Post. "Contractually, they have to do the special and they are both professionals."

Simpson's rep, however, brushes off the alleged marital woes, denying the couple's three-year-old union is in trouble, an assertion backed up by a report in the latest Us Weekly, which reports they now "seem happier than ever."

Meanwhile, the Palm Beach Post reports Simpson arrived in Florida sans Nick on Thursday to begin recording the follow-up to her album, "In This Skin."

Jessica recently told People the new record will include "a lot of old music turned modern," which we're guessing means more ear-splitting remakes a la "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'."

Hotel Concierge to Sue Russell Crowe (http://people.aol.com/people/articles/0,19736,1077739,00.html)

The New York hotel employee who was on the receiving end of a telephone toss by Russell Crowe – who later apologized for his misdeed on the Late Show with David Letterman – reportedly is prepared to slap the star with a lawsuit this week.

The suit, to be filed by Mercer Hotel concierge Nestor "Josh" Estrada, will claim that after Crowe threw the phone and gashed Estrada's face in the early morning hours of June 6, the star also hurled a ceramic bowl at Estrada, as reputedly captured on a hotel security videotape and observed by two eyewitnesses, New York's Daily News reports.

The paper also says that witnesses claim Crowe took a bow and assumed a karate stance after the bowl shattered.

Settlement talks between Estrada and Crowe's side apparently went nowhere, the paper reports. The suit is likely to seek punitive and compensatory damages.

Immediately after the incident, Crowe, 41, was arraigned on charges of second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. (The maximum punishment, if convicted, is seven years in prison.) The police report said he threw a phone at the concierge at downtown Manhattan's Mercer Hotel, "hitting him in the face and causing a laceration and substantial pain."

Crowe's lawyer, Gerald Lefcourt, declined comment on a suit that has yet to be filed. But he did say in a statement: "Russell Crowe went on three national television programs apologizing for the incident and making amends and he is trying to put it behind him."

Estrada's attorney, Eric Franz, tells the News, "I'll do my talking through the legal process."

Two days after the incident, Crowe owned up to the attack and told Letterman (who greeted the Cinderella Man star by hiding the phone on his hosting desk): "This is possibly the most shameful situation I've ever gotten myself in in my life, and I've done some pretty dumb things in my life. So to actually make a new No. 1 is spectacularly stupid."

In an attempt to explain the incident, a spokesman for Crowe said that a hotel employee was not helpful and had displayed "attitude" as Crowe had sought help in placing a call to Australia to speak with his wife, Danielle Spencer, and their 17-month-old son, Charlie.

A new book by the late Princess Diana's friend and astrologer, Simone Simmons, has some royal watchers and Diana loyalists up in arms.

Especially outrageous about Diana: The Last Word, according to reports from the UK, are the book's claims Diana had sex with John F. Kennedy Jr. and that she once tried cocaine and had such a severe reaction she feared she would die.

The book reportedly says that in 1995 Kennedy and Diana hooked up at New York's Carlyle Hotel, where his father once seduced Marilyn Monroe – and that Diana later boasted of her one-night stand.

As for the cocaine claim, the book is being quoted as stating that, after a boyfriend got her to try the drug: "It made her feel so ill. It made her feel sick, dizzy and breathless. She felt she was going to have a heart attack and die when she tried cocaine."

The book also reportedly claims that in the weeks before their 1997 deaths in a Paris tunnel crash, Diana was trying to wean Dodi Fayed off of cocaine.

However, one Diana stalwart, her former butler Paul Burrell, brushes off Simmons's book as "a fantastical story of nonsense in much the same vein as the mystical rubbish she used to feed the Princess."

Burrell told the Daily Mirror: "That the Princess has an affair with JFK Jr. is simply untrue."

Also disputing the book's claims is Diana's former private secretary, Patrick Jephson, who described the JFK Jr. story as "testing the bounds of credulity."

The Backstreet Boy worked out a deal with prosecutors in Orange County, California, stemming from his March DUI arrest.

The 25-year-old popster has pleaded guilty to one count of driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol count of over 0.08. Because the count was a misdemeanor, Carter wasn't required to be in the Westminster courthouse for the hearing, and he entered the plea last week via his lawyer. In exchange, another DUI count was dropped, per Orange County Deputy District Attorney Tate McCallister.

McCallister says Carter's attorney agreed to the terms last Thursday, avoiding a preliminary hearing in the case set for today.

Carter was slapped with the two misdemeanor charges after getting pulled over for erratic driving Mar. 5 in Huntington Beach and flubbing a field sobriety test.

At the time, his rep denied Carter was under the influence.

"Nick Carter deeply regrets the current situation. He is on doctor-prescribed medication and was unaware of its interaction possibilities," publicist Juliette Harris said.

Carter initially pleaded not guilty to the charges in April.

With his court docket cleared up, Paris' former boy-toy can focus on Backstreet's comeback.

Carter, who released a disappointing solo album in 2002, reteamed with his mates earlier this year (the announcement came the day before hisDUI arrest) and has since embarked on a whirlwind promotional tour in support of Never Gone, the band's first offering since 2000's Black and Blue.

Never Gone dropped June 14 and debuted at number three on Billboard's Hot 200 album chart. The album is shaping up to be a worldwide hit, debuting at number one in Japan, Germany, India, Chile and Korea and in the top 5 in Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, Holland, Italy, Mexico and Brazil. Like many of you, we were scratching our heads when we heard that Tom Cruise was going to be appearing at the BET Awards. Yes, he has a movie to promote, but we've frankly had our fill of Tom and Kate, as we shall now be referring to Miss Holmes, per her request.

Cruise presented the Best Male Actor Award to an absent Jamie Foxx, who is currently getting some ass in Miami and hitting the clubs with Colin Farrell. On their off time, they're supposedly filming some movie.

Cruise and Foxx shared the screen together in Collateral and are quite chummy, but a source tells PerezHilton.com that Tom's motives for attending the BET Awards are not just to promote War of the Worlds, which opens today.

"Tom really wants to do a film with Will Smith," our source tells us. Smith, along with his wife, Jada, hosted the awards show.

"After he's done shooting Mission Impossible 3, Tom wants his next project to be with Will, so he's doing everything possible - like the BET Awards - to make that happen."

Hip-hop and fashion pitchman Damon Dash is in trouble with the widow of rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard, who died of a drug overdose in November at age 35.

Attorneys for Icelene Jones - who was married for 19 years to the late Russell Jones - are threatening to sue Dash if he goes forward with plans for a Pro-Keds sneaker line with ODB's initials on it.

"Damon Dash Music Group does not have the authority to distribute an ODB sneaker without the expressed consent of the estate of Russell Jones," attorney Steven J. Mandel told Lowdown yesterday. "The only person who has the power is Icelene Jones. ... We'll look into the possibility of getting an injunction."

Mandel added: "We put everyone on notice that any money derived from this project will ultimately go to ODB's wife and children."

Dash - whose record label is putting the final touches on ODB's posthumous album, "A Son Unique," for release next month - has also gotten on the wrong side of former ODB manager Jarred Weisfeld.

Weisfeld is demanding that Dash remove his name, his voice and all scenes in which he appears from an ODB documentary scheduled to be released with the album.

After Weisfeld E-mailed his demands to Dash lieutenant Darrin Chandler, Chandler fired back: "We will make sure his bitch ass is out of the special and for the record your [sic] a f--g clown."

Yesterday, Weisfeld quipped: "I got a good laugh at his unprofessional remarks, and they made me realize why Jay-Z is Def Jam president and Damon is yesterday's news."

Dash's PR rep said: "I can't get Damon on the phone. Here's my official comment: Thank you for helping do publicity for Ol' Dirty Bastard's upcoming album."

Bono wants his hat back. And his earrings. His sweat shirt, too. Dublin-based rock band U2 went to court Tuesday to recover items from former stylist Lola Cashman, who has a range of memorabilia from her work on their 1987 Joshua Tree world tour.

In 2002, Cashman tried to sell some of the items — including a cowboy hat, sweat shirt, pants and earrings worn by Bono — at a London auction house. U2's lawyers stopped the sale by telling auctioneers the goods weren't Cashman's to sell.

On Tuesday, lawyer Paul Sreenan told Dublin Circuit Court Judge Matthew Deery that Bono and other members of U2 would testify that they hadn't given any of the items to Cashman, who was also accused of claiming inappropriate expenses during the tour.

Sreenan said the band hoped the judge would issue a judgment that Cashman should not continue to possess or try to sell any of the materials in dispute, including about 200 photos of the tour.

U2 completed a three-night concert stand Monday night in their hometown with an 80,000-seat sellout performance at the city's Croke Park stadium. They are to take part in the Live 8 concerts on Saturday, playing in the London event in Hyde Park.

Friends of Black Eyed Peas' Fergie are buzzing that the singer became engaged over the weekend to her actor boyfriend Josh Duhamel.

"It just happened and she is over the moon about it," a friend of Fergie's tells Star.

Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson, 30, and Josh, 32, started dating last fall, after the pair met while the Black Eyed Peas did a guest performance on Josh's NBC show Las Vegas.

"Actually, the performance was arranged after Josh was quoted in a magazine saying he had a hot dream about her, even though they never met," our source tells Star.

Fergie caught wind of the article and thought he wasn't so bad, either, and, according to our source, "So their people put together the guest appearance on his show and they really hit it off. He asked her out right there on set!"

The engagement marks Duhamel's second — he was first engaged to model Kristy Pierce, but that relationship ended in September, just weeks before he met Fergie.

"I know she isn't telling many people yet because she doesn't want it all over," the source tells Star. "But she is very happy. I don't think she knows what kind of wedding she wants yet, but I can see her just running off and eloping!"

The couple broke up briefly late last year, "But they got back together weeks later. Now, obviously, they are more in love than ever," our source says.

According to a source, the pair hope to snag the 12,000-square-foot home for a bit less than Brad and Jen's $20 million asking price. "Ellen and Portia are pretty giddy about the house," says the friend. "This feels like a home for the two of them. And since a nursery is already in place, it's got them feeling pretty domestic."

Their decision to have a baby together wasn't made easily. "Portia's ambitious, and didn't know if she wanted a time-out on her career," says the friend. "They talked about adopting, but agreed they wanted a baby of their own. Portia is 15 years younger, so she'd carry the child."

The friend also says that the Australian beauty wasn't quite ready, but realizing how much it means to Ellen convinced her that the time is right. The couple hope to be pregnant by next spring, when Portia goes on hiatus from Arrested Development.

Just how Portia would get pregnant isn't yet settled. "Artificial insemination would be involved, but they're checking out donor options and exploring what they can do," says the friend. In the meantime, they're having fun planning for their bundle of joy.

Hollywood favourite Meg Ryan, who has been keeping a relatively low profile in recent months, has been enjoying some time in New York with her son Jack Henry. Passers-by spotted the When Harry Met Sally star this week as she strolled through the city's streets with her favourite 13-year-old.

Casually dressed in a floral skirt with t-shirt and sandals, the 43-year-old seemed relaxed and content as she chatted with the teenager. It would appear Jack has a passion for heavy metal, as he was sporting a t-shirt bearing the logo of legendary Aussie rockers AC/DC.

During the Nineties Meg was one of Tinseltown's most prolific stars, but since her split from Jack's father, Dennis Quaid, five years ago she has taken a step back from the pressures of life in the limelight. The Beach star Leonardo Di Caprio has snapped up his very own piece of paradise, splashing out on a Caribbean island.

British newspaper The Sun reports that the staunch environmentalist is planning to turn the isle, 104-acre Blackadore Caye off the coast of Belize, into an eco-friendly resort. The narrow island, which is just over two miles long, is lined with white sand beaches and dotted with coconut palms and rocky outcrops. It lies just a 25-minute boat ride from the Belize Barrier Reef, a World Heritage Site.

The 30-year-old actor is said to already be working on plans for the environmentally-conscious retreat, which is costing him millions of dollars to create.

The luxury layout will apparently include just a few exclusive villas, all with private pools and terraces as well as direct access to the beach. Most importantly, however, the design of the hideaway – including the use of renewable energy sources – will respect the island's wildlife and tropical surroundings.

Belize's largest island, Ambergris Caye, is located north of Leo's private getaway. Twenty-five miles long and used as a trading post during the Mayan period, Ambergris is the area's most developed islands, featuring a number of resorts as well as water sports, fishing, snorkelling and scuba diving.

There will be a distinctly Latin flavour to P Diddy's latest fashion collection after the hip-hop impresario called on Spanish beauty Penelope Cruz to help promote it.

Penelope was snapped chatting with the rapper during a photoshoot in the Big Apple this week. "Puffy", whose real name is Sean Combs, was inspired to hire the Sahara star after seeing her in advertisements for his design hero Ralph Lauren. She won't be the only big name appearing in the ads, though, because her new employer is also putting in a personal appearance.

NBC has pulled the plug on its ambitious 9/11 miniseries.

The eight-hour movie, based on the findings of the 9/11 Commission Report, was pulled because it was just too expensive to recreate the attacks and their aftermath, reports Variety.

The project's projected $20-million budget and the threat of a competing ABC movie also based on the 9/11 terror plot were just too much, said sources. Rushing the miniseries to beat ABC might have been even more disastrous, they said, so halting the project emerged as the best option.

The scripts had been completed and much of the early preparations were complete.

ABC's project is said to be still on track and several actors — including Harvey Keitel — have been approached about the project.

It is a rare for NBC chief Jeff Zucker to kill a project just as it was about to begin filming. Last month, NBC execs made a great deal of noise about the 9/11 film — and its big name producers, Imagine Entertainment's Ron Howard and Brian Grazer — at its annual upfront presentation to advertisers.

Officials at NBC and Imagine declined to comment.

Industry insiders said that execs killed the 9/11 project just weeks after it became clear that NBC would lose up to $1 billion in the so-called upfront ad market.

Audioslave say the Miller Brewing Company's decision to include their name in an ad celebrating 50 years of rock and roll was not — to borrow a phrase from Miller's latest campaign — a good call.

On Friday the group filed an intellectual-property lawsuit against the world's third largest brewer, claiming the company failed to consult the band about using the Audioslave name in its ad, which ran in the September 30 issue of Rolling Stone.

"Audioslave does not permit its name, image or identity to be used in commercial advertising, other than advertising for [the band's] record albums, concert tours and related matters," the suit reads. "In particular, Audioslave does not endorse commercial products, including alcoholic beverages, and does not agree to appear in advertisements for alcoholic beverages ... [since] members of [the group] have had issues with alcohol and the band is completely opposed to the use of its name to advertise and promote alcoholic beverage companies and products."

But that's not all. According to the suit, which seeks unspecified damages, Miller added insult to injury by creating an association between Audioslave and "other bands and musical performers whom Audioslave does not wish to be associated with," which "further damaged" the band's reputation.

The Miller ad featured images of various concert tickets along with the slogan "Rock without the souvenirs — that's like beer without taste." The other bands whose names appeared in the ad include Jurassic 5, Unwritten Law, Incubus, Wyclef Jean, D12, Less Than Jake, Trapt, Velvet Revolver, Shinedown, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Tantric, Static-X, Puddle of Mudd and the Strokes.

Second-season American Idol champ Ruben Studdard has filed a criminal complaint in an ongoing battle with his ex-manager.

The plus-sized crooner filed a complaint Monday in Birmingham, Alabama, alleging the former manager, Ronald W. Edwards, who is also Studdard's godfather, defrauded the singer out of more than $200,000.

Per Studdard's complaint, Edwards forged paperwork giving himself power of attorney over the singer's finances and then going to town on Studdard's bank account, racking up $105,000 in credit card debut and writing bad checks totaling $150,000.

The "I Need An Angel" singer made similar allegations in a lawsuit against Edwards and his marketing company, SEZ Inc., in February. That case claimed Edwards fraudulently tapped $240,000 of Studdard's newfound wealth.

For his part, Edwards has denied all allegations and claims Studdard actually owes him money. Edwards filed a $500,000 countersuit in March. He then filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy June 17, prompting a stay in the lawsuit.

The 26-year-old's lawyer, Vic Hayslip, has said the Chapter 7 filing was merely an attempt to avoid giving a deposition in the lawsuit, a characterization Edwards' legal team denies.

Calls to attorneys for both sides were not immediately returned Wednesday evening.

This isn't the first time the Soulful singer has had to fight a battle over money. In 2003, he was accused of taking kickbacks for wearing "205" (Birmingham's area code) sweatshirts on American Idol from the company that produced them, 205 Flava. Those claims came after Studdard sued 205 Flava for allegedly cashing in on his image without permission. The dueling lawsuits were eventually settled before going to trial.

As for his music, Studdard next performs at the Memorial Hall in Plymouth, Massachusetts, on Aug 6.

SANTA ANA, California (AP) -- Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter was ordered into a three-month alcohol treatment program after pleading guilty to drunk driving.

Carter, 25, entered the plea Tuesday in Orange County Superior Court. The judge also ordered Carter to pay $1,200 in fines, placed him on three years' informal probation and restricted his driving privileges for 90 days, said Deputy District Attorney Tate McCallister.

Carter, who wasn't in court Tuesday, was pulled over March 5 in downtown Huntington Beach. He was charged with one count of driving under the influence and one count of driving with a blood alcohol level above 0.08, the legal limit.

The singer has said through his publicist that he was on prescription medication at the time "and was unaware of its interaction possibilities."

The Backstreet Boys, whose hits include "I Want it That Way," "Shape of My Heart" and "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely," recently reunited after four years. Carter, the youngest of the group, released a solo album in 2002.

The twosome, who are expecting their first child together this fall, married Wednesday at the Parrot Cay resort in the Caribbean islands of Turks and Caicos, Us Weekly reports.

Affleck's publicist, Ken Sunshine, declined to confirm the report. "I do not comment on my clients' personal lives," he said. Garner's rep, Nicole King, was not immediately available Thursday morning. The newlyweds have been dating since last year. They met on the set of 2003's Daredevil, in which they starred as superhero lovers Daredevil and Elektra.

In April, Affleck reportedly flew the Alias star's nearest and dearest out to California for a surprise 33rd birthday bash at Garner's Brentwood abode and used the occasion to pop the question.

Garner's first marriage to Felicity costar Scott Foley ended in April 2003; the divorce was finalized in March 2004.

Affleck's much publicized engagement to Jennifer Lopez ended shortly after the pair called off their September 2003 nuptials.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have gotten married.

"They're married and they're expecting their first child," their reps, Nicole King and Ken Sunshine, said in a statement.

The publicists did not reveal any additional details about the wedding, but the news follows weeks of marriage rumors, including claims that the pair would exchange vows in Garner's home state of West Virginia.

The couple met on the set of the 2003 comic-book movie Daredevil. They didn't begin dating until seven months after Affleck broke off his high-profile engagement to Jennifer Lopez, whom he was set to marry in September 2003.

Considering the hoopla that surrounded Bennifer, the courtship of Affleck, 32, and Garner, 33, was surprisingly low-key. Though they were frequently spotted shopping for groceries together in L.A. or getting coffee from Starbucks, they generally steered clear of the spotlight.

"He's very happy," an Affleck friend told PEOPLE in April. "Jennifer is very down-to-earth, much more like him. They're more like-minded. That wasn't true (with Lopez)."

In early May, a close friend began spreading the news that the two were planning to wed, to the delight of Garner's parents. "They had their fingers crossed," a Garner pal told PEOPLE at the time. "They really love Ben." Soon after, she was sporting a diamond eternity band, though the couple kept mum about their plans. In late May sources said Garner was three months pregnant.

American Idol runner-up Bo Bice and his girlfriend, Caroline Fisher, have gotten married in their Alabama hometown, PEOPLE has confirmed.

The couple, who have been together for almost two years, exchanged vows at the New Hope Presbyterian church on June 15.

Bice and Fisher's marriage certificate was granted Thursday in Shelby County, Ala. The singer's rep had no comment.

Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson, 30, and Josh, 32, started dating last fall, after the pair met while the Black Eyed Peas did a guest performance on Josh's NBC show Las Vegas.

"Actually, the performance was arranged after Josh was quoted in a magazine saying he had a hot dream about her, even though they never met," our source tells Star.

I WAS hoping it wouldn't come to this, but after Tom Cruise's interview with Matt Lauer on the NBC show "Today" last week, I feel compelled to speak not just for myself but also for the hundreds of thousands of women who have suffered from postpartum depression. While Mr. Cruise says that Mr. Lauer and I do not "understand the history of psychiatry," I'm going to take a wild guess and say that Mr. Cruise has never suffered from postpartum depression.

Postpartum depression is caused by the hormonal shifts that occur after childbirth. During pregnancy, a woman's level of estrogen and progesterone greatly increases; then, in the first 24 hours after childbirth, the amount of these hormones rapidly drops to normal, nonpregnant levels. This change in hormone levels can lead to reactions that range from restlessness and irritability to feelings of sadness and hopelessness.

I never thought I would have postpartum depression. After two years of trying to conceive and several attempts at in vitro fertilization, I thought I would be overjoyed when my daughter, Rowan Francis, was born in the spring of 2003. But instead I felt completely overwhelmed. This baby was a stranger to me. I didn't know what to do with her. I didn't feel at all joyful. I attributed feelings of doom to simple fatigue and figured that they would eventually go away. But they didn't; in fact, they got worse.

I couldn't bear the sound of Rowan crying, and I dreaded the moments my husband would bring her to me. I wanted her to disappear. I wanted to disappear. At my lowest points, I thought of swallowing a bottle of pills or jumping out the window of my apartment.

I couldn't believe it when my doctor told me that I was suffering from postpartum depression and gave me a prescription for the antidepressant Paxil. I wasn't thrilled to be taking drugs. In fact, I prematurely stopped taking them and had a relapse that almost led me to drive my car into a wall with Rowan in the backseat. But the drugs, along with weekly therapy sessions, are what saved me - and my family.

Since writing about my experiences with the disease, I have been approached by many women who have told me their stories and thanked me for opening up about a topic that is often not discussed because of fear, shame or lack of support and information. Experts estimate that one in 10 women suffer, usually in silence, with this treatable disease. We are living in an era of so-called family values, yet because almost all of the postnatal focus is on the baby, mothers are overlooked and left behind to endure what can be very dark times.

And comments like those made by Tom Cruise are a disservice to mothers everywhere. To suggest that I was wrong to take drugs to deal with my depression, and that instead I should have taken vitamins and exercised shows an utter lack of understanding about postpartum depression and childbirth in general.

If any good can come of Mr. Cruise's ridiculous rant, let's hope that it gives much-needed attention to a serious disease. Perhaps now is the time to call on doctors, particularly obstetricians and pediatricians, to screen for postpartum depression. After all, during the first three months after childbirth, you see a pediatrician at least three times. While pediatricians are trained to take care of children, it would make sense for them to talk with new mothers, ask questions and inform them of the symptoms and treatment should they show signs of postpartum depression.

In a strange way, it was comforting to me when my obstetrician told me that my feelings of extreme despair and my suicidal thoughts were directly tied to a biochemical shift in my body. Once we admit that postpartum is a serious medical condition, then the treatment becomes more available and socially acceptable. With a doctor's care, I have since tapered off the medication, but without it, I wouldn't have become the loving parent I am today.

So, there you have it. It's not the history of psychiatry, but it is my history, personal and real.

(CNN) -- Legendary R&B artist Luther Vandross died Friday, CNN has confirmed. He was 54 years old.

The popular crooner suffered a debilitating stroke in April 2003. Even so, his album "Dance With My Father," co-written with Richard Marx, sold nearly a million copies in its first month of release that June. And the album won him four Grammy Awards, half his lifetime total, including song of the year.

Vandross' songs and emotionally charged ballads carry a signature soulful, silky sound.

It was after a chance meeting with David Bowie at a recording studio that Vandross was asked to sing backup on Bowie's hit 1975 album, "Young Americans."

Later, Vandross would serve as Bowie's opening act

Vandross also sang backup for Bette Midler and Barbra Streisand, while lending his voice to commercial jingles.

When record companies rejected him, Vandross used his own money to produce his 1981 debut album, "Never Too Much."

It went on to top the R&B charts and sold 2 million copies.

Other hit singles followed, like "Any Love" and "Here and Now."

Vandross struggled with health and image problems, claiming that he lost 100 pounds -- 13 times. He suffered from diabetes and hypertension but refused to slow down until his stroke two years ago.

Martha Stewart says in a new interview that her nickname in prison was M. Diddy, that house arrest is "hideous" and that her prosecution was about bringing her down "to scare other people."

Stewart, 63, is serving a five-month term of house arrest at her Bedford, N.Y., estate that followed five months in a West Virginia federal prison. She is scheduled to go free early next month.

"I hate lockdown. It's hideous," Stewart tells the August issue of the magazine, on newsstands July 12.

Asked about the electronic monitoring device she must wear on her ankle — she has complained repeatedly that it irritates her skin — Stewart says she knows how to remove it.

"I watched them put it on. You can figure out how to get it off," she is quoted as saying. "It's on the Internet. I looked it up."

Her publicist's eyes "widened with alarm" when Stewart made the remark. The article didn't say whether Stewart claimed ever to have taken off the device.

NEW YORK - Grammy-winning rapper Lil’ Kim was sentenced Wednesday to a year and a day in prison and fined $50,000 for lying to a federal grand jury to protect friends involved in a 2001 shootout outside a Manhattan radio station.

While many rappers have served time in prison, Lil’ Kim is the first big-name female to do so.

Lil’ Kim (real name: Kimberly Jones) could have gotten up to 20 years — five years each on three counts of perjury and one count of conspiracy — at her sentencing before U.S. District Judge Gerard Lynch. She was convicted of the charges in March.

Lil’ Kim, who turns 30 next week, was the sidekick and mistress of the late Notorious B.I.G. As a solo artist, she has become known for her revealing outfits and raunchy lyrics. She won a Grammy in 2001 for her part in the hit remake of “Lady Marmalade.”

The rapper told the grand jury she did not notice two of her close friends at the scene of the shootout — her manager, Damion Butler, and Suif Jackson, known as “Gutta.” Both have pleaded guilty to gun charges.

Jurors at Lil’ Kim’s trial saw radio station security photos that depicted Butler opening a door for the rap star, and two witnesses who once made records with Lil’ Kim said they saw her at the station with Butler and Jackson.

The gun battle happened outside WQHT-FM, known as Hot 97, when Lil’ Kim’s entourage crossed paths with a rival rap group, Capone-N-Noreaga.

Lil’ Kim’s group confronted the others about the Capone-N-Noreaga song “Bang, Bang” that contained an insult to Lil’ Kim from rival Foxy Brown. One man was hurt in the shootout that followed.

Hot 97 is the same station where the posses of 50 Cent and The Game traded bullets in February.

At the trial, Lil’ Kim testified that she had a falling out after the shooting with Butler and with Antoine “Banger” Spain and James “Lil’ Cease” Lloyd, the two witnesses who said they saw her with Butler and Jackson.

She said they were freeloading at her New Jersey townhouse. “I was just fed up,” she told jurors. “They were taking advantage of me.”

Her career began with an impromptu street performance for Notorious B.I.G. in their Brooklyn neighborhood. She became “Queen Bee,” the only woman in his otherwise all-male clique.

Her 1996 debut album, “Hard Core,” was laced with sexually explicit lyrics and became a big hit, thanks to songs like “Crush On You” and others with unmentionable titles.

In other legal problems, Lil’ Kim was sued earlier this year by two men who say she failed to pay them for songwriting and performing services for the 2003 album “La Bella Mafia,” which sold more than 1 million copies.

The rapper arrived at the courthouse Wednesday with bodyguards who cleared her path through the waiting media.

Even with Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton in the house, Kirsten Dunst stole the show recently at Amanda Scheer Demme's Tropicana Bar at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The actress and a girlfriend decided to make a splash by jumping in the pool with their clothes on and swimming several laps.

But Dunst wasn't thrilled when some partygoers started snapping photos of her. She yelled, "That's rude!" before one of her pals asked to borrow one picture-taker's digital camera. The friend then tried to delete some of the photos before the owner snatched his camera back.

As for Dunst, after getting out of the chilly water, she made a beeline for the women's bathroom, where she took off her wet clothes and stood in the buff, waiting for the hotel staff to bring her a robe.

Jamie Foxx is doing plenty of multitasking while in Miami to film the big-screen version of Miami Vice. When he's not working, he's busy making the social rounds.

The Oscar winner recently dined at The Forge Restaurant and later adjourned to the adjoining club Jimmy'z, where he partied the night away. The following day, Foxx worked off those cocktails at the Flamingo South Beach apartment complex, where he played a pickup three-on-three basketball game. "He was pretty good," Robbie Albert, one of the players on the opposing team, tells us. "He came on, said 'Hi, I'm Jamie,' and then hit a bunch of three-pointers to win the game."

Later, Foxx was spotted at Skybar with Shaquille O'Neal. And the following night he turned up at Nocturnal, a new club in downtown Miami, at a party hosted by Ocean Drive magazine. Foxx added his own spin to the party by jumping behind the deejay booth and working the turntables with DJ Tracey Young.

Prince Albert II of Monaco acknowledges that he has an illegitimate child with a former flight attendant from Togo, his lawyer, Thierry Lacoste, confirmed in a statement Wednesday.

Lacoste says the 47-year-old Albert, who is unmarried and without an heir, desires to face up to his responsibilities. The lawyer added that the child, now 22 months old, would not be in line to inherit Albert's throne.

Following the April death of Albert's 81-year-old father, Prince Rainier III, stories emerged in the French press linking the younger prince to former Air France flight attendant Nicole Coste, who is Togolese and holds French citizenship.

In interviews, Coste said she met Albert on a flight in 1997. This subsequently led to a relationship and the birth of the boy, Alexandre, in August 2003, she told Paris Match magazine. At the time, Coste said she went public with the tale because, "I want Alexandre to grow up normally with a father."

In making Albert's paternity announcement, Lacoste also took the press to task for breaking the story so soon after the elder Rainier's funeral.

"Prince Albert II asks the press to adopt responsible behavior, similar to what it has adopted in similar circumstances for other public figures, and to respect his private life and that of the underage child," Lacoste’s statement concluded.

According to Hello magazine, Paris Hilton wants to host her wedding ceremony in London at St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey or Windsor Castle, and sees no reason why the royal family shouldn't let her except for the fact that only British royals or heads of state can marry in the historical venues.

"I'm the closest thing to American royalty anyway," she said. Hilton has written to Prince Charles, begging for permission to hold her dream day at one of the venues.

Somebody should explain to Paris that walking around Los Angeles in a tiara doesn't automatically make you royalty. In fact, wearing a fake crown and pretending you're a princess actually makes you the opposite of royalty.

Actor Willem Dafoe married Italian actress and director Giada Colagrande in a secret ceremony in New York six weeks ago. The pair sneaked into the ceremony at Manhattan's City Hall, where they were joined by just close friends and family - according to the New York Daily News. Dafoe, who turns 50 this month and 29-year-old Colagrande co-wrote and will star together in forthcoming romantic drama Before It Had A Name. Dafoe has a son Jack, 23, from his 27-year relationship with theatre director Elizabeth LeCompte, which ended last year.

When Cruise and Holmes do decided to get married, she will be stepmother to Isabella, 12 and Connor, 10 - Cruise's children from his 10-year marriage to Nicole Kidman.

LOS ANGELES - Zsa Zsa Gabor suffered an apparent stroke at her Bel-Air home and underwent emergency surgery to clear a blocked artery.

The two-hour operation late Wednesday was successful and the 88-year-old actress was expected to return home within three days, husband Frederic von Anhalt said Thursday. He declined to disclose the name of the Los Angeles hospital.

“She’s in intensive care, critical but stable,” von Anhalt said, adding: “She just didn’t have any feeling. She was numb. She was alert, but she had no feeling in her hand and couldn’t pick up anything.”

The Hungarian native appeared in numerous films including 1952’s “Moulin Rouge” and “Queen of Outer Space” in 1958. She appeared on TV specials, talk shows and game shows and as a guest on several series, often playing herself.

In 1989, she slapped a Beverly Hills police officer who stopped her for expired license plates and she was convicted after a highly publicized trial. She was sentenced to 72 hours in jail and 120 hours of community service at a women’s shelter.

Gabor has been partially paralyzed since a 2002 car accident, forcing her to use a wheelchair and walker. A multimillion-dollar family feud over who controls her will spilled into the courtroom last month.

Gabor and ninth husband von Anhalt — to whom she’s been married for 19 years — filed an elder abuse suit against daughter Francesca Hilton, claiming she stole $2 million by forging her mother’s signature to take out a loan on Gabor’s $14 million Bel-Air estate. Hilton’s father, hotel magnate Conrad Hilton, was Gabor’s second husband. (Gabor is the great-aunt of Paris and Nicky Hilton.)

“She’s under a lot of stress,” von Anhalt said. “She’s still recovering from the accident and there’s the stress with her daughter.”

i sure the hell hope so...they are annoying me...he's a wacko. I have nothing against scientology but i dont feel that he should push others into believing what he believes...and it still makes me mad about the whole brooke sheilds thing...PPD is not soemthing to be played around with ...

The former Friends star was officially diagnosed with heatstroke, after she fainted during filming in Chicago, Illinois. But sources on set insist the star passed out because she was overcome with emotion, after it was revealed her former husband Brad Pitt had fuelled rumors he's dating Angelina Jolie, by accompanying her to Ethiopia, where she adopted an orphaned baby girl. Jolie and Pitt have repeatedly denied reports they are a couple since Pitt and Aniston ended their marriage in January, despite numerous photographs of the Mr. And Mrs. Smith co-stars holidaying with Jolie's son Maddox. An insider tells British newspaper the Daily Mail, "She's been walking around with a sad look on her face and has not been her usual self. While her collapse was blamed on heatstroke, everyone thinks it's more down to stress than anything else. She can't have escaped all the stories about Brad and Angelina and it looks like the situation has taken its toll on her."
