Vaughn, Aniston Pulled Over by Ariz. Police

PHOENIX (AP) - Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston were pulled over by Scottsdale police earlier this week, and Vaughn was given a sobriety test, police said Thursday.

Vaughn wasn't cited for any violation after a preliminary breath test showed the actor's blood-alcohol level was below the legal impairment limit of 0.08, Scottsdale police Sgt. Mark Clark said.

"We determined he had something to drink but was not over the legal (impairment) limit," Clark said. "We suggested that he not continue to drive."

Vaughn parked the vehicle, described as a white van or truck, at a nearby resort, Clark said. He said Vaughn and Aniston then got into the car of a friend who had been following them.

Clark didn't have any details on why Vaughn was stopped early Tuesday. Police said the patrolman who pulled over the vehicle smelled alcohol on Vaughn's breath.

Messages left for publicists for Aniston and Vaughn, who co-star in the upcoming film "The Break Up," weren't immediately returned Thursday.

For months, reports have swirled that Vaughn, 35, and Aniston, 36, are dating. Last month, People magazine published photos showing the couple kissing in Chicago, possibly confirming that their relationship has grown romantic.

Aniston was divorced from Brad Pitt last month after 4 1/2 years of marriage.

Vaughn, whose father lives in Phoenix, co-starred earlier this year with Pitt and Angelina Jolie in "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." It was then that reports of a romance between Pitt and Jolie began, which were later corroborated by photographs and public spottings.

"The Break Up" is scheduled for release next year.

Talan Torriero Used Dad's Credit Card For Ring

Kimberly Stewart's ex fiancé, reality TV star Talan Torriero, reportedly
bought her a $75,000 engagement ring - on his dad's credit card.

The 19-year-old actor had stunned pals by presenting Kimberly, the
26-year-old daughter of rocker Rod Stewart, with the five-carat sparkler
after the pair had dated for just two weeks.

The pair split up 11 days later saying it was "too soon" to make such a
serious commitment.

Torriero, who has had few jobs since appearing on MTV high school reality
show 'Laguna Beach' last year, was overheard telling pals at a modelling
shoot how he had used his father's credit card to pay for the ring.

According to America's New York Post newspaper, he was then heard adding: "I
should be able to get a full refund."

After the pair split last month, Kimberly's spokesperson Eliot Mintz
revealed: "It is better to have a brief engagement than a short marriage.
The couple continue to share their time together and remain open to whatever
the future may hold.

"They began dating a relatively short period of time ago. It would be in the
category of weeks as opposed to months."

Two 'Lost' Stars Charged With DUI

HONOLULU - Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros, who star on ABC's "Lost," were arrested within 15 minutes of each other in Kailua for allegedly driving under the influence of an intoxicant.

Both failed field sobriety tests and were released Thursday on $500 bail each, police said. The actresses, who were in separate cars, were arrested after their vehicles were spotted weaving on Pali Highway, which connects Kailua and Honolulu, police said.

Watros, who portrays Libby on "Lost," was arrested at 12:05 a.m. Rodriguez, who plays Ana Lucia, was arrested at 12:20 a.m., according to police records. Rodriguez was booked under the name Mayte Michelle Rodriguez.

Calls placed by The Associated Press after business hours seeking comment from "Lost" spokesman Jeff Fordis weren't immediately returned.

Rodriguez, 27, and Watros, 37, were to appear at a driver's license revocation hearing at Kaneohe District Court on Dec. 29, police records showed.

Motorists arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant automatically have their driver's licenses revoked. They are given a temporary license that allows them to drive, but under several restrictions.

They give a star to anyone these days That's because it's paid for not elected or voted or chosen by any earned merit. You'll see a music star get one right before a big new album drops. The star it usually paid for by the record company to promote the album. If a movie star gets one, especially a lesser celeb, it'll be paid for by the movie company to generate publicity for the movie.

It's totally lame. The whole concept is essentially meaningless now.

Did anyone watch the 'Real World Austin' Renunion last night? Hilarious! The castmates must really hate each other since half of the show they were yelling at each other. :D

The most cheesy part though was when they showed a clip of Danny proposing to Melinda in NYC. :rolleyes: Of course Danny got a free (pretty big bling too!) engagement ring out of it though! Unbelievable!

The other announcement we've all been expecting has arrived the same day as Violet Affleck. Blythe Danner has confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that daughter Gwyneth Paltrow and son-in-law Chris Martin are expecting baby number two this spring. Daughter Apple is almost 19 months.

When asked if she'd be helping to name the new baby, Danner replied, "I love [the name Apple], I think it's perfect. I hope there'll be more fruits and vegetables coming along since we're all pretty much vegetarians." But Danner said the next name will be left up to the couple: "They're all on their own. They're just sailing along beautifully."

All he has to do is be nominated by a fan club, which I'm assuming is what happened. Here's a little information on how someone can get a star on the Walk of Fame:

The Walk of Fame is overseen by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The process ([of getting a star] is frequently initiated by the performer's management or reps; however, anyone can submit an application to the Chamber nominating a celeb for the honor with the approval of the celeb's representation. Recently, it has become increasingly common for fan groups to sponsor Walk of Fame stars.

During the course of a given year, the Chamber accepts nominations; the selection committee announces their picks in June for the following year's inductees. An average of 20 nominees are selected yearly to receive a star in one of five categories (film, television, recording, stage or radio), from a typical 200 or more applications received. Once the celebrity is selected, payment of $15,000 is required to seal the deal. This fee is used by the Chamber to pay for the plaque as well as the cost of the induction ceremony.

Personally, I'm surprised that Ryan Seacrest got one because one of the deciding factors in being awarded a star is longevity of career. Ryan hasn't been around all that long, comparitively. He's been on the radio for quite a while here in L.A., but normally someone doesn't get a star quite so quickly unless they're really, really huge (like Britney).

Murder Inc. Rap Mogul Acquitted in N.Y.

A rap mogul known for his gangster persona and for producing chart-topping acts under the Murder Inc. label was acquitted Friday of federal charges alleging he laundered drug money for a notorious crack kingpin.

Irving Lorenzo and his brother Christopher were found not guilty of money laundering at a trial closely followed by some of the music industry's biggest stars.

Supporters during the trial have included hip-hop and R&B stars Jay-Z, Russell Simmons, Ja Rule and Ashanti. As the jury's decision was announced, people in the courtroom erupted in cheers. A few jurors asked to meet with the brothers to hug and congratulate them.

"We did it! We did it!" Irving Lorenzo shouted as his lawyers carried him out of the courthouse.

He threw his arms around juror Gloria Menzies, who called the brothers "my boys" and invited Lorenzo to attend church with her.

"They had nothing to pin on these two guys," Menzies said. "It was so weak."

Beaming, Lorenzo, who goes by the name Irv Gotti, accepted her invitation and said the trial had brought him closer to God. He also promised that his legal troubles were behind him for good.

"I'm never going to get into any other trouble, no jaywalking, nothing," he told reporters.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean Haran said he would respect the jury's verdict.

The brothers could have faced up to 20 years in prison.

In closing arguments, prosecutor Carolyn Pokorny told jurors that the Lorenzos struck an illicit deal in the late 1990s with Kenneth "Supreme" McGriff, who she described as "one of the biggest, baddest, most dangerous drug lords in New York City."

The defense countered that the brothers were victims of guilt by association.

"There's nothing illegal about knowing a criminal, about socializing with a criminal, even doing business with a criminal, unless you commit a crime," said defense attorney Gerald Shargel. "Irv and Chris Lorenzo committed no crime."

McGriff allegedly funneled more than $1 million in drug money, much of it from Baltimore, through Murder Inc. in return for serving as the Lorenzos' protector and enforcer. A government witness who once worked at the label testified that he saw a "huge amount" of money delivered in shopping bags and a shoe box in 2000.

Prosecutors said Murder Inc. cut tens of thousands of dollars in checks for sham corporations controlled by McGriff, including a movie company that produced a straight-to-video film called "Crime Partners 2000." The label also covered his expenses as he traveled around the country masquerading as an entertainment executive, Pokorny said.

The defense portrayed Irving Lorenzo as a legitimate businessman who went from rags to riches by taking the Gotti name an ode to the late mob boss as a sales ploy and teaming with Def Jam, a subsidiary of Universal Music, to start Murder Inc. He invested in McGriff's movie because he was an old friend from their Queens neighborhood, Shargel said.

"Even if Supreme McGriff was the biggest drug dealer in the world, and even if 'Crime Partners' was the worst film in the history of American entertainment, there is nothing illegal about giving backing to a movie," he said.

Murder Inc. changed its name to The Inc. last year after executives said the label's image was hurt by the case.

Wendie Jo Sperber did not appear in every movie of the 1970s and 1980s. She was only in the ones that seemed to make the summers go by faster.

Sperber, the boisterous character actress who chased the Beatles in I Wanna Hold Your Hand, played Marty McFly's sister in the Back to the Future franchise, and kept Tom Hanks' cross-dressing secret in TV's Bosom Buddies, died Tuesday, losing a long battle to breast cancer. She was 47.

"The memory of Wendie Jo is that of a walking inspiration," Hanks said in a statement Wednesday. "...We are going to miss her as surely as we are all better for knowing her."

Hanks was a booster of Sperber's weSPARK, a cancer support center she founded in 2001 in Sherman Oaks, California. "SPARK" stands for "Support, Prevention, Acceptance, Recovery and Knowledge." Sperber found that she needed to draw on all of those resources when she received her first cancer diagnosis in 1997.

On Bosom Buddies, Hanks and Peter Scolari played two men who dressed as women in order to rent an apartment in an girls-only building; Sperber played their neighbor--the only one with insider knowledge of their charade. Sperber's character was hopelessly in love with Scolari's character--hopelessly, because Sperber's type didn't get the guy. Because Sperber's type was, in two words, not thin.

Sperber's not-thinness led to steady supporting and character work, and finally a lead in the 1990 Fox sitcom, Babes, about three not-thin sisters. The show lasted just one season.

Even after cancer struck, Sperber continued to amass credits--from a 1998 episode of Murphy Brown dealing with its title character's own chemotherapy woes, to a recurring role on the 2002-05 sitcom, 8 Simple Rules.

Survivors include a son, a daughter and her "dream" of a support organization.

Kate Moss has reportedly begged on/off lover Pete Doherty to leave her
alone - and says he makes her "sick".

The supermodel has severed all ties with the wild Babyshambles rocker - and
is furious he is allegedly set to reveal all in a kiss and tell newspaper
deal.

The singer is also thought to be considering co-operating on a book about
their troubled romance.

Kate - who recently left the US rehab centre where she was being treated
following her cocaine scandal - is quoted in Britain's Daily Mirror
newspaper as saying: "He's a user in every sense of the word. He makes me
sick."

Eminem Impersonator Faces Life Sentence

An Eminem impersonator who beat a woman to death and stuffed her body in a suitcase — a scene reminiscent of the rapper's "Stan" video — is facing life in prison.

Christopher Duncan, 21, has the same hair color, style and tattoos as the rapper. Duncan pleaded guilty Thursday to killing Jagdip Najran, 26, a law student and aspiring singer.

They met at a karaoke bar last year, where Najran was smitten after watching Duncan perform, a prosecutor said. Duncan took Najran back to his apartment and beat her over the head with an iron baseball bat until she fell unconscious, then stuffed her body into a suitcase.

Medical experts testified she stayed alive for at least an hour after being struck. Duncan reportedly told police he was high on Ecstasy and LSD at the time.

In the video for "Stan," an obsessive fan ties up his girlfriend, throws her in the trunk of his car and drives it over a bridge.

Duncan was to be sentenced Monday. A call to Eminem's publicist in Los Angeles was not immediately returned.

Shock Rocker Manson Reportedly Marries

Shock rocker Marilyn Manson married his longtime girlfriend Saturday in Ireland, People magazine reported on its Web site.

Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, married 33-year-old Heather Sweet in front of about 60 guests at Castle Gurteen, the home of a friend in Kilsheelan, County Tipperary, the magazine reported.

Sweet is a burlesque dancer who uses the stage name Dita Von Teese. They have been dating for four years and Manson proposed at their Los Angeles home in March 2004, People reported.

It was the first marriage for both.

Manson, 36, wore a black silk taffeta tuxedo and Von Teese was in royal purple silk taffeta with a corset. They were married in a non-denominational ceremony conducted by underground filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky, a friend of Manson, the magazine reported.

It looks like BRITNEY SPEARS isn‘t so ‘Sweet.‘ I hear the 23-year-old new momma pop princess has turned down a very lucrative offer to star in the Broadway revival of Sweet Charity. As I exclusively reported, Spears was in talks to replace CHRISTINA APPLEGATE as the unlucky-in-love Charity. She was also looking to get hubby KEVIN FEDERLINE a job in the show as a dancer. "Britney said she couldn‘t do it because of ‘family issues,‘" a source tells me. I‘m told producers spent tens of thousands of dollars on wooing her. She apparently racked up quite a bill on private jets and hotel suites. "The producers didn‘t mind," my source says. "They thought they‘d make that money back right away once she said yes." A source close to Spears tells me that she decided against a Broadway run "because she didn‘t want to uproot her family to New York and make such a long commitment. Of course, she seriously considered it, but she‘s a new mom and Kevin has two other kids who are also on the West Coast."

Rumors of NICK LACHEY being a lusty lothario have been greatly exaggerated. Despite what you may read, Lachey has not been playing the singles field as much as people may think since he and JESSICA SIMPSON announced their marriage was kaput. Reports have already surfaced this week that Lachey was getting cozy with some sexpots at a Miami nightclub just days before the split. Cuba walked on stage and started to break dance. But get this: "He was actually kinda good," a concert-goer reports. "And the crowd loved it." Tori Spelling Pregnant While Ex Fights For Canine Custody

CTV's eTalk Daily has revealed that Tori Spelling and Canadian actor Dean McDermott are expecting a baby. Apparently Spelling and McDermott were in Toronto last week to meet McDermott's family and give them the news.

The couple are said to have met earlier this year in Ottawa, Ontario while working together on the television movie, Mind Over Murder.

McDermott has recently separated from his wife, Canadian television personality Mary Jo Eustace, the mother of his seven-year-old son and recently adopted infant daughter, while Tori recently separated from her husband, Charlie Shanian.

NEW YORK - Rapper Foxy Brown is almost totally deaf, her lawyer said Monday.

Attorney Joseph Tacopina disclosed Brown's hearing problem after a question about why they exchanged notes while waiting in Manhattan Criminal Court for her case to be called on an unresolved 2004 assault charge.

"She's pretty much totally deaf now," Tacopina said. "She can't hear me. We have to write things back and forth. Anything I have to communicate with her now has to be written." Brown, 25, revealed during a court appearance in September that she would soon undergo surgery to try to correct her hearing. Obviously straining to hear questions, she refused to discuss the possible cause of the problem.

Tacopina said Monday the prognosis from that surgical procedure is still undetermined, but "hopefully it (the condition) is reversible. She has to undergo another surgery." Meanwhile, Judge Melissa Jackson adjourned Brown's case until Dec. 23 when, Tacopina said, he expects it will be resolved. Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, is charged with misdemeanor assault, attempted assault and harassment.

Brown has rejected at least two misdemeanor plea deals that would have let her avoid any jail time for allegedly assaulting two nail salon workers on Aug. 29, 2004, in a fight over payment for a manicure at Bloomie Nails in Manhattan's Chelsea district.

Prosecutors alleged that Brown, with a cell phone clutched in her closed fist, attacked and kicked one worker, and hit a second worker in the face. Under the proposed plea deal, Brown would have pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and served 10 days of community service. "I'm innocent," Brown said at the time. "I feel like I'm being railroaded."

'Chappelle's Show' to return briefly in 2006

"Chappelle's Show" is back! Well, sort of. Variety reports Comedy Central will air the four episodes worth of material Dave Chappelle completed for the third season of his hit sketch comedy show, before he went AWOL earlier this year (a sneak preview will air at 9 p.m. Sunday during "Comedy Central's Last Laugh '05"). Sketches reportedly include spoofs of "Super Size Me" and MTV's "Cribs" -- not exactly the timeliest material in the world, but we'll take it. The full episodes will air sometime next year. Comedy Central won't say if airing the material is a concession that Chappelle is finished for good with the series.

TMZ has learned that actor Johnathon Schaech has filed for divorce from his wife, 'Married with Children' star Christina Applegate.

The papers, filed today in Los Angeles Superior Court, cite irreconcilable differences as reason for the split. TMZ has also learned that Schaech, the star of the film "That Thing You Do," is represented by high profile divorce attorney Laura Wasser.

Applegate, star of such films as "The Sweetest Thing" and "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," was most recently seen starring on Broadway in "Sweet Charity."

Ashlee Simpson recently talked about the smorgasbord of physical and psychological problems that have made her the Carrie of Hollywood starlets.

"When I went to ballet school, I was around a lot of girls with eating disorders, and I actually had a minor one myself," she said. "It was about six months of not eating too much at all. I was 11 and 5 feet 2 and about 70 pounds. My parents stepped in and made me eat. That really helped a lot." Now she says her best feature is her rack. "I have amazing boobs. I do, I know it. Lindsay Lohan can't get over Wilmer

Lindsay Lohan has hinted she split from Wilmer Valderrama after finding love letters written by an ex-girlfriend.

On TRL yesterday, she was asked if her new song Black Hole was about a specific person or just made up, and giggled, "Dammit! A little bit of both. I mean I incorporate everything. It's an ex so it's already (past)," Lohan begrudgingly added, "Obviously some of it was from Wilmer. Fine."

Eminem has announced that he and ex-wife Kimberly Mathers are back together and may even remarry – despite having gone through an ugly divorce and custody battle over their young daughter, Hailie Jade, now 10.

Speaking on Detroit radio station WKQI-FM's "Mojo in the Morning" show, Eminem, 33, said: "We have reconciled and are probably going to remarry."

During the interview, which was in conjunction with Tuesday's release of his greatest hits compendium Curtain Call, the rapper referred to Kimberly Mathers, 30, as "my wife Kim," reports the Associated Press.

On the broadcast, Eminem (real name: Marshall Mathers III), also discussed his hospitalization this summer for treatment of a sleep-medication dependency. "When I went into rehab, I kind of went into it ... with the notion of 'I'm gonna get clean, I'm gonna get off this stuff before it gets too out of hand,'" he said.

As for his future, which is likely to include taking a break but not outright retirement, he said: "I'm at a point in my life right now where I feel like I don't know where my career is going. This is the reason that we called (the new CD) Curtain Call, because this could be the final thing. We don't know."

Wilmer Valderrama, who plays Fez on "That '70s Show," will star as motorcycle cop Ponch in a big-screen version of "CHiPs."

Warner Bros. Pictures, which recently brought TV staples "Starsky & Hutch" and "The Dukes of Hazzard" to theaters with much success, has just acquired the rights for the series.

Erik Estrada famously originated the Ponch role in "CHiPs," which ran on NBC in the late 1970s and followed the adventures of California Highway Patrol motorcycle officers Francis "Ponch" Poncherello and Jon Baker. Larry Wilcox played Baker.

The show had a serious macho tone, but over the years has achieved a cheesy, cult status. Sources say the project was built around the involvement of Valderrama, who is working on the final season of "That '70s Show" and appears in "The Darwin Awards," an indie that will screen at Sundance in January.

The action comedy has no producer and no director attached. The script will be written Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgove, who are writer-executive producers on "George Lopez."

I always get sad when I hear about Michael J. Fox. I always think of him as a spunky little cute guy and I hate to think of his vibrancy deteriorating. :( It's wonderful what he's done for awareness and funding for research into Parkinson's. But it's not a pretty disease - I know because my grandmother had it.

Matt Damon to be a father

Matt Damon and fianceé Luciana Barroso are expecting their first child together, Access Hollywood has learned. Luciana is three months pregnant.

Matt popped the question just before Labor Day to Luciana, who he had been dating for more than one year. The couple has yet to set a date for the wedding.

Matt and Luciana met at the Miami nightclub Crobar where Barroso worked as a bartender.

Once married, Matt will also become stepdad to Luciana's 7-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

Earlier this year, Damon – who in the past had been romantically linked to Claire Danes, Winona Ryder and Minnie Driver – told Access Hollywood how much easier dating in the public eye is when there are not two A-list stars involved.

"That definitely helps. I think things can get magnified exponentially when you have two celebrities in a situation," Matt said. "Suddenly the interest it's not just like twice the interest, it's four, eight times depending on the celebrity."

and are planning an intervention.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Look out criminals, Officer Shaq is on the beat.

Shaquille O'Neal was sworn in as a reserve police officer Thursday, with the Miami Heat center choosing to skip a public event in favor of a quiet, no-frills ceremony.

"Officer O'Neal is very considerate toward the other officers, and he was afraid if he was there he would have taken away from that moment for other officers," department spokesman Robert Hernandez said. "This is a very special time for them and their families."

The former Laker was a reserve officer in Los Angeles before moving to South Florida. He spent the past year training as a Miami Beach police reserve officer and can now add the $1-a-year salary to his $100 million, 5-year contract with the Heat.

The 7-foot-1 player will be able to carry a gun, wear a badge and make arrests, but with his celebrity status he most likely will not walk a beat or go undercover. He will work as time permits in the volunteer position.

O'Neal has said he is most interested in working with the special victims detective unit to help stop crimes against children.

"He made it clear when he decided to come to Miami Beach that he didn't want to just be a poster boy for photo ops, he wanted to get down and dirty and do the job," Hernandez said. "He's here to conduct investigations and to make arrests."

And in September he did just that. After seeing a man throw a bottle and yell anti-gay slurs at a passer-by, O'Neal trailed the man and helped an officer arrest him as a hate-crime suspect.

Barely days after Hollywood began to buzz that Lindsay Lohan and Jared Leto were falling head over heels, Star has learned that the situation is a touch more tricky!

A source says that Lindsay is still carrying a torch for her ex-beau Wilmer Valderrama and the pair have recently hooked up again. On Nov. 16, Lindsay, 19, and Wilmer, 25, were both at L.A.'s Mood nightclub, and though they sat in separate VIP booths, a source says they couldn't keep their eyes off one another. "He wanted to leave with her through the back exit, so they could avoid being seen together," the source says. Then they came up with another plan to foil stargazers: He left solo at 3 a.m. through the front door, and she left through the back — then they met up outside.

So what's going on? "They were each other's first serious loves," explains a friend of the two. "Lindsay is still very attracted to Wilmer. When they show up at the same club, sometimes she'll leave, because it's too painful for her to see him." Or sometimes, like on the 16th, it seems they beat those blues by leaving together!

Blown-up images of Hilton and strings of pink Christmas lights adorn the front lawn of a home in a middle-class neighborhood of this city, part of a head-turning holiday display that pays homage to the famed hotel heiress.

The over-the-top pictorial is the work of Joe Moretti, a 38-year-old designer who was arrested last year for trespassing on Martha Stewart's property in Maine.

Passersby get an eyeful of Hilton sporting a tiny pink top hiding little of her chest, or wearing knee-high boots and a sultry pout or holding a finger to her lips. Even Hilton's faithful Chihuahua, Tinkerbell, is celebrated in a colorful portrait.

"If it's offending anyone, I apologize," Moretti said in a telephone interview Thursday.

"That's not the intent. The intent is to be different and to be creative and let them see a little bit of Hollywood or New York bring it to Cranston," Moretti explained.

A number of cars slowed or came to a complete stop on the busy road as they passed Moretti's house Thursday afternoon, the better to ogle a life-sized shot of Hilton with high boots, legs spread and eyes partly closed.

Moretti's display includes a list entitled "How to Be a Hilton," complete with tips such as: "An entrance is everything," "NEVER wake before 10 a.m." and "NEVER spend the summer in NYC."

Neighbors in Cranston, just south of Providence, had mixed reactions.

"It's nothing more than they could see on TV, on normal stations or actually at school," said Stefanie D'Angelos, 28, who has four children.

Added Frank DelSanto, who said he was near 80: "People should not be ashamed of their sexuality male or female."

But others were bothered.

"It has nothing to do with the holiday, and it doesn't suggest anything that's appropriate to this time of year," said Judy Gershman, 57, who said she had hadn't looked closely at the display.

Ron Raffonelli, 65, said he would be upset if his young grandchildren came to associate Christmas with naked woman. He'd prefer the kids to think of Santa Claus instead.

After all, Raffonelli said, "He's been around longer."

This is the latest in a series of artistic lawn displays decorating Moretti's lawn. Last year, he paid tribute to Martha Stewart even as he and another man faced charges for sneaking on to the domestic maven's property. The charges were later dismissed, and the men donated money to public libraries near the property. Moretti calls the incident a "big misunderstanding."

Moretti has made past tributes to Madonna, Princess Diana and Liberace.

He came upon his latest subject after meeting Hilton in a store in the Hamptons, and said he found himself fascinated.

"She was just very sweet," Moretti recalled. "So I said, 'Wow, this year I think I'm going to do a Paris Hilton Christmas.'"

CRANSTON, R.I. -- Some neighbors aren't thrilled with this year's offering from a Cranston man known for his wild holiday displays. Joseph Moretti made Paris Hilton the center of his display this year. He said he met the Hilton heiress and was impressed with how nice she was.

Some people who live nearby aren't impressed with how little she's wearing in some of the photos on Moretti's front lawn. But some other residents told NBC 10 it doesn't bother them at all.

Moretti has been lighting up his front lawn every Christmas for more than 20 years. He said he already has next year's display in mind.

"It's going to be interesting. And I hope people can speak another language. That's all I can say," Moretti said. Previous displays have featured Princess Diana and Martha Stewart.

Self-preservation and a need to recover from the loss of her boyfriend Stavros Niarchos to Paris Hilton are the reasons why Mary-Kate Olsen bolted from her studies at New York University and returned to Los Angeles, she says.

The 19-year-old mogul, in an interview with the fashion monthly W, acknowledges: "I miss him and I love him and I don't speak with him anymore. It's a hurtful and painful subject. … This is a hard time for me." As for Paris, she says, "we're not talking."

In going back to California, Olsen says, "I'm happy that I kind of realized that, okay, I just need to take care of myself right now. I need to be able to go to yoga and work out and just read scripts and go on auditions."

The less-stressful life, she says, is "what makes me happy. You know? Like, (school) papers don't really make me happy."

American beauty Jennifer Aniston just finished the erotic thriller 'Derailed' and has a Christmas release titled 'Rumor Has It' waiting in the wings.

But petite sexpot Eva Longoria has said that Jen is typecast as "Rachel Green' the character she played on the long-running NBC sitcom 'Friends.'

It was quite the odd exchange.

Longoria first blamed her 'beauty' for stunting her early acting career, and wishes to keep away from playing the sultry and adulterous roles, because she doesn't want to be typecast like former Friends actress Jennifer Aniston, who she claims will never shake off her best known role.

She says:

"I've done a couple of films and I'd love to do more. I want roles that are the opposite of Gabrielle - I don't want to be known as just a sexpot, it's so hard to break out of. Even though Jennifer Aniston's had huge success, she'll always be Rachel Green."

Aniston is making a pretty big leap from a monster sitcom to big budget films and so far - not bad. Her character in the movie 'Derailed' (Lucinda Harris) was the antithesis of Rachel.

Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood filed for a marriage license on Friday in Oklahoma's Rogers County court – a move that legally ties them to getting hitched within 10 days of obtaining the license or else voiding it.

Witnesses also tell local station KTUL-TV that they saw the country stars leave the Rogers County Courthouse in Claremore on Friday morning.

In May, PEOPLE reported, Brooks popped the question before a crowd of 7,000 screaming fans at the unveiling of a bronze statue of himself at Buck Owens's Crystal Palace, a country-music complex run by the former Hee Haw star in Bakersfield, Calif.

Brooks, 43, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight since announcing his retirement in 2000, strolled onstage with Yearwood's hand in his. After yanking off a gold cloth to reveal the 8'-tall statue, Brooks pointed out a curious detail on the sculpture's left hand: a wedding band he had asked artist Bill Rains to include. Realizing what was happening, Yearwood, 41, pouted playfully and said, "You're not going (to do this) in front of these people?"

He did. Brooks whipped off his hat, got down on his right knee and asked, "Will you marry me?" Yearwood instantly said yes and dabbed away a tear.

Despite living with Brooks in recent years, the bride-to-be was completely taken by surprise, according to people who watched her backstage afterward. "Her knees were like Jell-O," said Jerry Hufford, talent coordinator for the Palace. "She was totally stunned."

Garth and Sandy were married in 1986 and divorced in 2001.

Brooks and Yearwood first met in the late 1980s when Yearwood was an opening act on Brooks' tour, and this will be the second marriage for him and the third for her.

Her previous husbands were musicians Chris Latham (to whom she was married from 1987-91) and Robert Reynolds (1994-2000). Both unions ended in divorce. She has no children.

AP: Richard Pryor, the caustic yet perceptive actor-comedian who lived dangerously close to the edge both on stage and off, died Saturday. He was 65.
Pryor died shortly before 8 a.m. of a heart attack after being taken to a hospital from his home in the San Fernando Valley, said his business manager, Karen Finch. He had been ill for years with multiple sclerosis, a degenerative disease of the nervous system.

"He did not suffer, he went quickly and at the end there was a smile on his face," his wife, Jennifer Pryor, said. "I'm honored now that I have an opportunity to protect and continue his legacy because he's a very, very, very amazing man and he opened doors to so many people."

Chris Rock won't be back cracking wise as the host of next year's Oscars telecast.

"He is not hosting the Academy Awards," the comedian's publicist, Matt Labov, said Friday in a brief statement e-mailed to The Associated Press. He did not elaborate.

Labov told The New York Times that Rock didn't want to do the show "in perpetuity" but would "like to do it again down the road."

The 2005 telecast was Rock's first as host. He drew younger viewers, but his barbs skewering stars like Jude Law, Tobey Maguire and others alienated some members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

In one bit, Rock suggested filmmakers should wait for better talent instead of rushing bad movies into theaters.

"You want Tom Cruise and all you can get is Jude Law. Wait," Rock joked. "You want Russell Crowe and all you can get is Colin Farrell? Wait. `Alexander' is not `Gladiator.'"

He also poked fun at himself.

"You want Denzel (Washington) and all you can get is me? Wait," he joked.

Rock's comments prompted Sean Penn, when he took the stage later, to defend Law as "one of our finest actors."

Rock is currently producing and narrating "Everybody Hates Chris," a sitcom on UPN based on his life.

A spokesman for the Academy declined to comment about the hosting duties. Longtime Academy Awards producer Gil Cates is expected to announce his selection in the next few weeks.

Frequently mentioned candidates include four-time host Whoopi Goldberg, two-timer Steve Martin and late-night hosts Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien.

The 78th annual Academy Awards will air March 5 on ABC from Hollywood.

Married life isn't so sweet for Sweet Charity star Christina Applegate, 34. Though her husband of four years, actor Johnathon Schaech, 36, filed for divorce on Dec 5th citing 'irreconcilable differences,' a source tells Us she was being unfaithful.

"She was cheating on him while she was in New York doing Sweet Charity [on Broadway]," the source says. "He found out and was furious, and wants out of the marriage."

NEW YORK (AP) -- A young police officer dying from a bullet to his chest shot two burglars early Saturday, one of them identified as an actor who played a misfit mobster on "The Sopranos."

Officer Daniel Enchautegui, 28, collapsed in the driveway of his Bronx home and died shortly afterward.

The wounded suspects were quickly captured. Investigators identified one as Lillo Brancato Jr., an actor who got his break in the Robert De Niro-directed film "A Bronx Tale" in 1993, and played doomed mob wannabe Matt Bevilacqua during the 1999-2000 season of "The Sopranos."

Brancato, 29, of Yonkers, was also arrested in June for alleged heroin possession.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said the actor and another man were breaking into a vacant home when Enchautegui, who had just finished a late-night shift, heard the sound of smashing glass next door.

Enchautegui was off duty and in his street clothes, but he alerted his landlord and dialed 911 to report a possible burglary in progress. Then he grabbed his badge and a gun and went out to investigate.

His landlord heard Enchautegui shout, "Police! Don't move!" followed by a burst of gunfire, Kelly said.

The alleged gunman, Steven Armento of Yonkers, was shot four times and was in serious condition. Brancato, who police said was unarmed, was shot twice and was in critical condition.

Police said Armento had a lengthy history of arrests on weapons, drugs and burglary charges, and was running with the murder weapon when an officer spotted him near Enchautegui's home and ordered him to stop.

Because of their injuries, there were no immediate plans to arraign the suspects, said Steven Reed, a spokesman for the district attorney.

Enchautegui, who was single and had been on the force for three years, was the second officer to die in the line of duty this year. Officer Dillon Stewart was shot in the heart November 28 during a car chase; a suspect has been charged with murder.

"This is a loss to the department and the city," Mayor Michael Bloomberg said. "We now have another life to mourn, taken from us for no sensible reason."

Kelly praised the slain officer for his "incomprehensible courage."

Re: the fatal police shooting -- Lillo Brancato wasn't just on the Sopranos - he played the kid in A Bronx Tale, which, ironically, is all about a kid trying to avoid the lure of the streets and escape from the Bronx. This asshole apparently didn't learn any lessons.

The police officer his cohort shot is the second to be killed in NYC in just two weeks. It just leaves me heartbroken. Here was this off-duty officer, investigating a burglary near his house, his life cut short by these two lowlifes. What a tragedy for his family - I also read that his sister's husband was killed during the Wendy's massacre in 2000, a crime that most NYers will remember. :(
