Troubled rocker Courtney Love's life has hit more turbulence, with Los Angeles authorities declaring she has failed a drug test and violated her probation.

Los Angeles Superior Court judge Rand Rubin issued a bench warrant for the former Hole frontwoman Wednesday, ordering her to return to court on August 19 for a review of her rehab reports.

The judge then told her attorney, "(Do) something to solve Love's problem, or we're going to give her a year (in prison)."

Love -- who recently announced that she's "clean and sober" -- could also potentially lose custody of Frances Bean Cobain, her 12-year-old daughter with late husband Kurt Cobain.

Deputy district attorney Gina Satriano says 41-year-old Love failed a drug test when she was hospitalized in July after fainting during a party at Hollywood's Roosevelt Hotel.

At the time, Love's attorney, Michael Rosenstein, announced that Love was "living a drug-free life."

In February, Love was sentenced to three years' probation and anger management counseling after pleading no contest to misdemeanor assault on a woman at the home of her former boyfriend.

Screen beauty Gwyneth Paltrow has slammed Hollywood as an old-fashioned industry run solely by men.

The Oscar-winning actress detests the way female writers, directors and actors are marginalized by chauvinistic producers and insists Hollywood is miles behind the rest of the world.

She also is infuriated by movies that celebrate men's sexual prowess, but neglect female sexuality.

She says, "The men in Hollywood make it hard for women. I really believe that. What it means is that it's kind of like the old-boy industries. It's mostly run by men.

"A lot of women writers in Hollywood write from their own experience and those experiences get so kind of homogenized (by producers) that what started as a core idea from somebody's life often becomes a movie that you've seen a number of times.

"There's no reason why, if there's 'Wedding Crashers' for boys, there can't be something really funny yet intelligent for women, that has something to say for women."

DIAZ WANTS TO ADOPT

Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz yearns for a baby and is considering adopting a needy child to bestow her love upon.

The stunning star, 32, agrees she's at the perfect age for motherhood, but especially loves the idea of following in Angelina Jolie's footsteps and bringing a loving home to children.

Jolie has adopted two children from orphanages in Cambodia and Ethiopia.

She says, "I would love a family. I'm at the age where the wish for a child gets stronger. But who knows.

"I think there are a lot of children out there who need families, so I wouldn't be opposed to adopting some kids.

"Bringing them in, giving them some love."

Diaz has been dating pop heartthrob Justin Timberlake since May 2003.

VAUGHN DASHES HOPES OF ANISTON ROMANCE

Funnyman Vince Vaughn finally has ended speculation he's dating Jennifer Aniston -- by confessing he couldn't have a serious relationship with the actress because he's addicted to one-night stands.

Vaughn is currently filming "The Break Up" with the former "Friends" beauty in Chicago and has been photographed kissing and cuddling Aniston on set.

But the actor is furious about claims he would take advantage of the 36-year-old beauty so soon after her January split from husband Brad Pitt and insists he could never restrict himself to one woman anyway.

Aniston has also denied the rumors, insisting they are just good friends.

He says, "I've never been that big on having to go home with the same girl every night."

Vaughn is also friends with Pitt, and made a cameo appearance alongside Pitt and Angelina Jolie -- who are rumored to be enjoying a romance -- in Doug Liman's box office smash "Mr. and Mrs. Smith."

TOWNSEND THROWS THIRTIETH BIRTHDAY BASH FOR THERON

Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron got a 30th birthday to remember on August 6, when her beau Stuart Townsend threw a lavish party for her in Malibu, Calif.

The bash, which took place at the beauty's home, featured immense bouquets of flowers, champagne and a host of gifts for the birthday girl.

While the 75 guests at the get-together made the most of the white couches arranged on the beach, Theron comfortably sat on Townsend's lap for the night.

NEW YORK - Two years ago, Demi Moore met "That '70s Show" star Ashton Kutcher at a casual dinner. They've been together ever since.

"Talk about meeting your soul mate," the 42-year-old actress tells Harper's Bazaar in its September issue. "I truly feel I have been given that gift. And believe me, I wasn't some lightweight package. I'm, like, the package that didn't just come with luggage — I had trunks."

While she and Kutcher, 27, would like to "expand our family" — there have been tabloid reports that Moore was pregnant — there are no plans for marriage. "I feel that we are and that we don't need something formal, so to do so isn't a big deal one way or another," she tells the magazine.

"The next phase? The growth of my partnership (with Kutcher). The growth of our union. The growth of our family. Which is all the things we truly desire ... to expand our family."

Moore says the couple, who recently moved into their new home in the Hollywood Hills, enjoy "sharing a bath with one another and watching ‘Court TV.' Snuggling up naked."

Moore, who starred in 2003's "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle," says she met Kutcher "not through Sean Combs, as everyone said, but through a mutual friend, Sara Foster, an actress who's known Ashton from the day he arrived in Los Angeles."

"We met and he said, ‘I really need to talk to you alone later.' And I was like, ‘Heh, yeah, sure.' And he said, ‘No, no, I'm serious.' And we ended up going back to my apartment and talking all night long."

Moore has three daughters, Rumer, 17; Scout, 14; and Tallulah, 11, from her marriage to second husband Bruce Willis.

She recently finished shooting the thriller "Half Light," appears in a fall ad campaign for Versace and is planning to launch a holistic beauty company with two friends.

"It's been a challenging few years, being the age I am, with so much focus now on how I look," Moore says. "Almost to the point where I felt like, well, they don't know what to do with me. I am flawed. And I'm not 20. Not 30. But I'm certainly different from what most people feel someone in her 40s should be."

Surprise! After Fox's extensive independent investigation of Corey Clark's claims, the verdict is that Paula Abdul is guilty only of excessive ''fraternization'' with the former contestant, as the investigators could find no corroborating evidence that she did more than spend a lot of time on the phone with him. Fox will implement a policy that will keep judges from such fraternization (and help reduce their phone bills), and no doubt the relieved Abdul will devote her free time to searching for the real fraternizers.

MADONNA fell off a new horse while riding at Ashcombe House, her country estate outside of London, her publicist announced today. The pop star sustained three cracked ribs, a broken collar bone and a broken hand, but is expected to be released from the hospital later this evening. She was celebrating her 47th birthday with her husband, film director GUY RITCHIE and her two children, LOURDES and ROCCO, at the time.

US pop diva Madonna was discharged from hospital where she had been treated for injuries suffered in a horse riding accident in southwest England, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The singer had been taken to Salisbury District Hospital in Wiltshire after falling off her horse while celebrating her 47th birthday.
Madonna's spokeswoman, Barbara Charone, earlier said the songstress had broken her collar bone and a hand, and cracked three ribs, but her condition was not serious.
One orthopaedic surgeon, Leela Biant, said Madonna's fitness would help her to make a full recovery, noting that this should take about three months.
'You don't treat broken ribs, they heal by themselves,' Biant said.
'The fact that Madonna is very fit and healthy will help her recovery and because she does a lot of yoga she will be used to deep breathing,' she told Britain's domestic Press Association.
Biant said, however, that the Material Girl would find it painful to sing during the first couple of weeks.

WILL KATIE BE TOM'S RUN AWAY BRIDE?

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes seemed to be flying high — as high, at least, as the top of the Eiffel Tower, where Tom proposed to her on June 17. But now, sources are telling Star, Hollywood's newest golden couple may be coming down to planet Earth. Cracks have appeared in their veneer of perfect happiness and Katie might be having second thoughts. "I think Katie is getting cold feet," a friend of Holmes tells Star. "She must be wishing she and Tom could slow down their race to the altar while they get to know each other better."

WEDDING DAY PLANS
Despite their respective reps' insistence that the couple is still in a state of never-ending bliss, sources tell Star that TomKat's public love-a-thon has been tempered by to a war of wedding plans. A source close to Katie, 26, says the actress has always "dreamed of getting married in front of childhood friends and family members in [her hometown] of Toledo, Ohio." But Tom, 43, who has been married twice before (to Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman), prefers a low-key affair.

"He wants to keep the ceremony small," adds the insider, "inviting only a few family members and close Scientology friends."

And although Katie has gone on record expressing her interest in Scientology, it's apparently becoming a sticking point in the couple's wedding plans. The actress apparently wants a Roman Catholic priest at their wedding out of respect for her parents, Martin Sr., a lawyer, and Kathy, a homemaker — both of whom are devout Catholics. "She probably feels that would make her parents happy," reveals the source.

But Tom, who was raised Catholic and is now a devout Scientologist, probably doesn't feel a need to have the blessing of the Catholic Church when he says "I do," adds the insider. He also wants to hold the wedding in a Scientologist-friendly location, according to the source, such as the Scientology Celebrity Center in Los Angeles or aboard the Scientology yacht, "where they can have some privacy."

Then there's the seemingly growing gulf between Tom and Katie's family, possibly due to the fact that the actor hasn't visited her siblings back in Toledo. "I bet Katie is ticked off that Tom hasn't spent any time getting to know her family," the source says. "And her brother, Martin Jr., and her sisters have yet to meet their future brother-in-law. (Although Tom's rep admits that the actor hasn't met Katie's siblings yet, she says the actor has spoken to his future brother and sisters-inlaw "many times" on the phone and they have plans to meet up in L.A. soon.)

KATIE'S ON TOM TIME
Tom seemingly insists that Katie restrict herself to his inner circle, most of whom are Scientologists. "Tom wants Katie to spend most of her free time by his side" says the source. "But I think she'd rather have a break from the media glare" and head back home to Toledo, where she can visit her mother, Kathy, who recently won a battle with cancer.

And then there's Tom's infamous TV confrontation with the Today show's Matt Lauer, which didn't sit well with the senior Holmeses. According to one source, it almost caused a mini-blow-up between Katie's father, Martin Sr., and his son-in-law-to- be at The Carlyle hotel in Manhattan while the family was in town for the War of the Worlds NYC premiere. "Martin questioned Tom on his beliefs about psychiatry," says another source. "Tom apparently got excited while explaining Scientology and questioning Catholicism, even pointing out the failure of psychiatry. Naturally, this would upset the Holmeses."

WHAT'S THE RUSH?
Finally, it all comes back to the issue of Tom and Katie's wedding. "Katie doesn't exactly want to call off the wedding completely," says her friend. "She'd probably just be a lot happier if it wasn't happening so quickly!" However, the friend also adds: "Katie is a smart girl, and she could very well wake up one morning and decide that being with a man nearly twice her age is just not something she wants to do. She could become a real-life runaway bride."

Wow - I can't believe Madonna is nearing 50!! Now I feel old. As a former equestrian, I've fallen/been thrown plenty of times so I know how fun that can be. :rolleyes: Her injuries are fairly common in riders. On a side note, I can't wait to hear her new album - I've heard it's more dance-y :)

Rumor has it that Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams (stars of the Notebook) are the newest couple in Hollywood. I keep reading it on Oh No They Didn't...apparently it was reported by E!, but I can't find any info anywhere.
I watched E! News Daily last night, and they did report that the two are a couple. It was reported in a way that made it sound like it's a fact- not just gossip.

August 17, 2005 - Sean "P. Diddy" Combs has announced that he will undergo yet another name change.

From this day forth (at least until he sees fit to change his moniker again) Combs would like be known simply as "Diddy."

Combs, who over the course of his career has been known as Puff Daddy, Puffy, Puff, P. Diddy, Sean, and just about every other configuration of the aforementioned that one can think of basically feels that the "P" is no longer needed in his name.

"I feel like the "P" is getting in the way of me and the public. From now on I will simply go by "Diddy" he said of his latest name change.

Despite his penchant for re-inventing his name every few years, Combs/Diddy is rather confident that this will be the final name that he will use and the name by which he will be remembered in the history books.

"Martha Stewart recently announced that she was using "M. Diddy" and it is rumored that Katie Couric has asked Matt to call her "K. Diddy," and we all know who is calling himself "W. Diddy" in private" Combs joked, showing how "Diddy" has already been ensconsed in the pop cultural lexicon.

The rapper Eminem and singer Mariah Carey are squabbling over the fact that Eminem is publicly playing private voice-mail messages that Carey had apparently left for him back in 2001.

According to Pagesix.com, during one scene in his concert, Eminem is talking to his audience when Carey's song "We belong together" comes on. Eminem then scolds the deejay and then Carey's message starts to play where she says, "I heard you were getting back with your ex-wife." "Why won't you see me? Why won't you call me? You're not calling me..."

As the message plays Eminem pretends to vomit into a toilet and then launches into his song 'Puke' with the line, "You make me sick."

Eminem is apparently upset because he claims they had an affair, which Carey denies.

Pierce Brosnan Out As James Bond, 007

NEW YORK (AP) - A single, surprising phone call and it was over. That's how Pierce Brosnan says he learned that his services as James Bond would no longer be required.

"One phone call, that's all it took!" the 52-year-old actor tells Entertainment Weekly magazine in its Aug. 19 issue.

Brosnan starred in four Bond films. He says that before they stopped negotiations, the producers had invited him back for a fifth time.

"You know, the movie career for me really started with Bond," says Brosnan, acknowledging that by the time "GoldenEye" premiered in 1995, he was already 42.

He then starred as 007 in "Tomorrow Never Dies" (1997), "The World Is Not Enough" (1999) and "Die Another Day" (2002).

His departure from the role was a "titanic jolt to the system," says Brosnan, followed by "a great sense of calm."

"I thought. ... I can do anything I want to do now. I'm not beholden to them or anyone. I'm not shackled by some contracted image. So there was a sense of liberation."

Brosnan says he's grateful to have had the role, but adds: "It never felt real to me. I never felt I had complete ownership over Bond. Because you'd have these stupid one-liners - which I loathed - and I always felt phony doing them."

He plays a foulmouthed, skirt-chasing hit man in the upcoming film "The Matador."

I am so thrilled that RM did so well in the notebook. She really proved her talent and hopefuly she will go on to do substantial parts. She really proved she could break free of the teen queen Lindsay Lohan fluff roles...I had actually never seen her in anything before The Notebook, but even for a "Tear Jerker" I thought all the acting was good. I saw it on DVD, and the "extras" included her screen test which was excellent (of course) and the first time I'd seen as anything other than her notebook character. She looks so young and so … blonde! It really gives you an idea of how much confidence the makers of that film must have had in her.

By the way, the DVD extras also included some discussion of the casting of Ryan Gosling as an actor who could portray "driven" and just a bit "off" to be believable as someone who would fall in love at first sight, and not stop until he got what he wanted. He does sort of have that intense quality about him!

Simpson Sought As Las Vegas Performer

Fresh from making her big screen debut, Jessica Simpson has been targeted by promoters who want her to perform a series of Las Vegas shows. The 25-year-old singer has attracted the attention of businessman George Maloof, who wants to employ her as a headliner at his trendy Palms Resort And Casino. While it has been reported that the blonde beauty is "on the verge" of signing a three-year deal worth millions, her representative says, "I can confirm that there was interest on the Palms' part, but it's not an offer the Simpsons are considering." A Defamer operative on the scene wrote in to inform us of an on-set accident yesterday involving Eva Longoria on a Desperate Housewives location shoot:

While rehearsing an exterior prison sequence at Pasadena City College for “Desperate Housewives,” a section of cross-pipe that was securing tall chain link fences came loose and fell on top of Eva Longoria’s head. She collapsed to the ground, and she lay still for a few minutes while the set medic attended to her. Yes, there was blood, but very little. She was finally carried off the set and taken to a local hospital for further examination. Thank goodness for a pretty little hat that she was wearing, which helped cushion the blow. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that my favorite desperate housewife isn’t brain damaged.

This seems a lot less scary now that the AP has reported that she was treated and released yesterday (no brain damage, Mr. Callous Operative), and won’t even miss a day of work. Longoria suffered a far more serious blow when the television Academy’s metaphorical snubbing-cross-pipe struck her, leaving her fine work as a gardener-bopping vixen on the show unrecognized by an Emmy nomination.

Gwen Stefani Hollers at MTV

There's been some hollerin' back and forth between Gwen Stefani and MTV. Gwen is said to be boycotting the VMAs later this month because the producers won't let her perform. The singer, whose first solo album came out late last year and was a big hit, has more VMA nominations than any other talent. So who is performing? Ludacris, Shakira and Kelly Clarkson, among others. Personally, I think MTV should reconsider, but only if Gwen promises not to do the whole tired "Hollaback Girl" routine. I've seen her in the ridiculous marching-band costume on Letterman, SNL and, most recently, the Teen Choice Awards. Pull another trick from your bag, Gwen. You're talented enough.

Eva Longoria Is Hurtin'

When I heard Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria was injured while filming, I assumed she broke a nail or one of her eyelashes fell out. In truth, a pole fell and struck the actress in the head, so she was taken to the hospital, treated and released. In other Eva news, the former soap opera star came clean to the 3am Girls about her bikini line. The Brazilian-obsessed Eva, who first went completely bare four years ago, said she "wasn't a woman" until she went Brazilian. "I was 25 or 26," she said. "I never waxed or really paid attention to that area. It opened the door to a whole new sexual side of me. I felt like Angelina Jolie. DETROIT - Eminem is undergoing treatment for dependency to sleep medication, his publicist said Thursday, two days after the Grammy-winning rapper canceled his European tour citing exhaustion.

In a brief statement, Dennis Dennehy said Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, “is in the hospital under doctors’ care.”

Eminem wrapped up his nationwide “Anger Management” tour last week, then on Tuesday canceled 10 European concerts that were to kick off Sept. 1 in Hamburg, Germany.

Interscope Records released a statement at the time saying Eminem was being treated for exhaustion, complicated by other medical issues.

Last month, the 32-year-old denied a report that he was planning to retire. But he did say he might be taking a breather after releasing four multi-platinum albums, including his latest, “Encore.”

If last week’s onstage appearance with G-Unit’s Young Buck in New York wasn’t a hint that Mase was getting cozy with 50 Cent’s camp, then his recent appearance on Sirius’ G-Unit Radio show should make things clear.

While telling 50’s DJ Whoo Kid that he has been working on new music and pursuing a new record deal, Mase said that his appearance with Buck may be the start of a more formal relationship with the G-Unit crew.

The born-again M.C. said of the new material he is recording: "It seems at this point it's gonna be on G-Unit." He also said that the only other record exec to approach him about a record deal was Def Jam head, Jay Z.

Meanwhile, Mase is still officially part of Diddy’s Bad Boy label, but the music mogul and perennial name-changer is aware that his artist is unhappy.

"He pretty much knows I don't want to be there," Mase said. "It's nothing personal, but I don't want to be there."

"When I came back to Bad Boy, they didn't want me to go where I wanted to go [with the music]," Mase said about the content of his comeback CD, last year's “Welcome Back.” "They wanted me to do what was safe for them. I had to pretty much sabotage myself. Everybody knows who I am.”

According to MTV, Diddy has publicly stated that he and Mase discussed a contract buyout several months ago. On Tuesday, Diddy said it shouldn’t be a problem if 50 wants to buy out Mase’s contract.

"He's definitely got enough money to set everything right," a smiling Diddy told MTV. "50 hasn't called me about signing Mase. If he's interested in signing him, we could always have a discussion. At the end of the day, I want everybody to be happy and where they want to be. But I'm available, I'm free, he's got my number."

Mase says you can listen for him in the meantime on the soundtrack to 50 Cent's upcoming movie, "Get Rich or Die Tryin'," and possibly on a Whoo Kid mixtape.

"I ain't going to be 50," the Harlem native said of his new material. "I ain't gonna be Usher, but right in between."

While promoting the Aug. 28 MTV Video Music Awards Tuesday in New York, its host Diddy was asked whether 50’s performance would feature a guest appearance by Mase.

"I don't know," he said. "I don't want to let anything out of the bag for my fellow artist. That's something y'all gotta tune in to see if he brings out Mase."

A song on Kanye West’s upcoming album “Late Registration” allows the artist to address an issue that has been treated like the plague’s nasty cousin in hip hop.

During last night’s MTV special "All Eyes on Kanye West," the artist talked about his song “Hey Mama,” which refers to his younger days when people would call him a “mama’s boy.”

"And what happened was, it made me kind of homophobic, 'cause it's like I would go back and question myself," West said.

But he said his attitude toward homosexuals changed when he found out that one of his cousins was gay.

"It was kind of like a turning point when I was like, 'Yo, this is my cousin. I love him and I've been discriminating against gays.'"

The 27-year-old says that in slang, gay is "the opposite, the exact opposite word of hip-hop," adding that the genre was always about "speaking your mind and about breaking down barriers, but everyone in hip-hop discriminates against gay people.

"Not just hip-hop, but America just discriminates. And I wanna just, to come on TV and just tell my rappers, just tell my friends, 'Yo, stop it.'"

Looks like Eminem has more issues with his own relatives (i.e. his mama and ex-wife) than anyone he has ever dissed in his music. Aunt Betty and Uncle Jack have filed a lawsuit against their famous nephew claiming he’s trying to evict them from the house that he had built for them three years ago, reports the Detroit News.

According to the suit filed last week, Jack and Betty Schmitt were asked by Em to move from their St. Joseph, Mo. Residence to Macomb County's Clinton Township in mid-2002. The Schmitts say that Eminem had agreed to pay them $100,000 a year for five years and provide them with a house worth up to $350,000. But so far, the Detroit lyricist has given them only $165,000 since 2002.

The couple is seeking more than $350,000 and possession of the home from Em, whose real name – Marshall Mathers III – is still on the title. The Schmitts say that the artist bought a lot for them in 2002 to accommodate a home, which was finished in March 2003, but the rapper would not transfer the property into their names. On July 13, the Schmitts say they received a notice telling them to leave the property, the lawsuit says.

Eminem was born in St. Joseph, Mo., and grew up in Detroit. As previously reported, he has canceled the European leg of his Anger Management Tour, set to kick off Sept. 1 in Hamburg, Germany, due to "exhaustion." And that "exhaustion" could've been brought on by his apparent dependency on sleep medication. Yep, you read right. The Grammy-winning rapper is currently in the hospital "under doctors' care," says his publicist Dennis Dennehy.

At the time, Interscope Records released a statement saying Eminem was being treated for exhaustion, complicated by other medical issues. Now we know at least what one of those issues is.

Simpson Craves 'SNL' Vindication

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Last October, in a matter of seconds, Ashlee Simpson went from singer/reality star/actress to national punchline when she was lip-synching to the wrong backing vocals on an episode of "Saturday Night Live." While embarrassing, that gaffe (and subsequent halftime humiliation at the Orange Bowl) did little to slow Simpson's album sales or to detract from her status as a rising entertainer.
Now, with a movie hitting theaters this month and a new album ready for a fall release, Simpson is hoping to make a "Saturday Night Live" return.

"I would love to do it," Simpson tells reporters covering "Undiscovered," her first shot at big screen stardom. "It's not been confirmed, but I'd love to go back and do 'Saturday Night Live.'"

"I Am Me," her second CD, is expected to drop in October (the first single, "Boyfriend," is already stirring up rumors of a feud with Lindsay Lohan), which would open the door for an appearance near the Oct. 23 anniversary of the backing track debacle, which Simpson blamed on vocal chords damaged by acid reflux.
"I would want to perform, but I'd love to act and make fun of myself as well," she laughs.

When prompted by potential motivations, she continues, "It's not necessarily about revenge on the world. It would just be fun for me to do it, just for myself."

Simpson is getting use to having a tiny bit more time just for herself these days. After having cameras watching her every move for multiple MTV reality shows, Ashlee -- like sister Jessica -- is at least temporarily off of the music network's schedule.

"There are no cameras in the Simpson family anymore and we love it," she declares. "It was time for a break from the cameras."

It isn't just Simpson, though, who enjoys her camera-free life. Her professional collaborators have also expressed some relief at her reduced entourage.

"When I went in to make this record, I walked in and [producer] John Shanks was like, 'Yeah! No cameras,'" she laughs. "There's not a camera in your face when you're trying to write a song and it's nice."

The experience on "Undiscovered," in which she doesn't stray too far from type to play an aspiring singer and actress, was a positive one. Although she says she's concentrated on music for the time being, the former "7th Heaven" co-star suggests that her small screen fans shouldn't expect to be seeing much of her (beyond relentless album promotion, of course) for a while.

"I prefer movies," Simpson says. "I think it's nice to go to difference characters and kinda jump around. Maybe one day I'll do a TV show again."

"Undiscovered" hits theaters on Friday, Aug. 26.

Apparently, Mama Latsis dodged Hilton's parents for three weeks when they came to Greece this summer to discuss the merger, um, wedding. Mama Latsis is reportedly "in no mood to make the young woman her daughter-in-law when anyone can see her in an erotic entanglement by visiting the neighborhood video club." Will Smith was right: "Parents just don't understand." After nearly six years of marriage, former Singled Out host Jenny McCarthy is ready to be out single again.

McCarthy and her husband, director John Asher, have filed for divorce, her publicist confirmed to E! Online Friday.

The rep for the former Playboy Playmate chalked up the split to the usual deal breaker, "irreconcilable differences." The divorce was first reported by Us Weekly.

McCarthy, 32, and Asher, 34, tied the knot on Sept. 11, 1999, shortly after he directed her in the comedy Diamonds, which also starred Kirk Douglas and Dan Aykroyd.

It was the first marriage for McCarthy and the second for Asher. They have one child together, three-year-old son Evan. Her pregnancy and motherhood spawned the New York Times bestsellers Belly Laughs and Baby Laughs.

After making a name for herself on Singled Out, MTV's early-'90s dating game show, the vivacious actress starred in a string of TV series, including The Jenny McCarthy Show, a sketch-comedy program, and the short-lived NBC sitcom Jenny.

She is currently pulling double-duty on the boob tube duty as the star of the UPN sitcom The Bad Girl's Guide, as well as hosting E!'s Sin City reality series Party @ the Palms. (E! Online is owned by E! Networks.)

Despite their decision to split, the soon-to-be exes may not have seen the last of each other.

The troubled life of Natasha Lyonne has taken a tragic turn.

The American Pie actress is in intensive care at a New York City hospital with hepatitis C, a collapsed lung and a heart infection, according to Access Hollywood and the New York Post.

The 26-year-old actress, who hasn't been seen publicly since a judge issued a warrant for her arrest in April after she ducked a court hearing, is reportedly "fighting for her life" and "struggling to survive," per Access Hollywood.

"I'm crying actually. It's terrible, you know. It's my little girl," Lyonne's father Aaron Braunstein told the syndicated show Friday. "It's a terrible tragedy, but she's going to get better. We're praying for her, and she's a tough girl."

The Post reports that the actress is also receiving methadone treatment, which is typically used to combat heroin addiction.

It's not clear if Lyonne has been using the drug, but according to a Mayo Clinic report, the primary mode of transmission of hepatitis C is via contaminated blood--through needles shared by drug users or through blood transfusions. The disease can lead to potentially serious liver damage.

Braunstein, who told Access Hollywood he visited his daughter last week, says he thinks Lyonne may have picked up the virus while shooting a movie abroad three years ago.

"She's probably with the wrong crowd," he said. "The main thing, she picked up the liver thing in Bulgaria during [filming of] The Grey Zone."

Lyonne, whose credits also include Slums of Beverly Hills, Party Monster and last year's Blade: Trinity, has not had a publicist or Hollywood representation for the past several months, which have been a rough stretch for the actress.

She was charged in December with criminal mischief, harassment and trespassing after she purportedly melted down on her New York neighbor, ripping a mirror off the woman's wall and threatening to sexually molest her dog.

Lyonne had been due in court Apr. 19 to answer the charges but left the courthouse early, prompting Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Abraham Clott to put out an arrest warrant.

The Post claims that Lyonne was subsequently evicted from her apartment and wound up living on the streets before turning up in the city's Bellevue Hospital. She was then transferred to Beth Israel Hospital, where she is currently admitted under a pseudonym, according to the Post. Neither hospital has confirmed Lyonne's patient status.

Speaking to Access Hollywood, her father disputed the report that Lyonne was homeless and suggested he might take legal action against the paper.

"There's a confidentiality between patient, doctor and hospital, so all of this is probably going to be a major lawsuit," he told the show.

Lyonne previously pleaded guilty in 2002 to a DUI charge in Miami. She was sentenced to six months' probation for the incident, which involved fleeing the scene of a car accident.

She last starred in the indie comedy Max & Grace, about a suicidal couple who break out of a mental institution. The film premiered at South by Southwest in Austin in March and has been making the rounds on the festival circuit but has not yet been picked up by a studio.

That girl is a MESS....there was an article in Jane a few months ago that was written by Michael Rappaport who used to be a friend of hers and let her stay at his aparment complex. He eventually had to kick her out after the whole flipping out on her neighbor incident. I wish I could find it to post here.

Gotti daughter reveals her health crisis

The reality-TV star revealed in an exclusive interview with the Daily News that she was diagnosed with breast cancer last November, but kept her grueling treatments hidden even as "Growing Up Gotti" exposed her life to millions of viewers.

Victoria did not tell her friends, her producers and most of all her sons, Carmine, 18; John, 17, and Frank, 14, who co-star with her on the A&E show, which starts its third season tomorrow.

"The day I found out, the day I got my mammogram and the doctor told me I had breast cancer, it was in mid-November," the 42-year-old single mom told The News. "I had a little pity party for myself and I cried all day."

"I lost 25 pounds," Victoria said. "I was so exhausted, I could barely lift my arms. My producers were asking questions."

"I was home all the time, and my boys knew something was up," the former Star magazine columnist said. "I said, 'I'm a writer. I can work from home.' But they didn't buy it. Those days, I could barely sit up."

"I wasn't able to tell them," she said. "I just wanted the boys to be okay and not get crazy and think that Mommy is dying."

Victoria endured the cancer treatments alone, drawing strength from memories of her father, Gambino boss John Gotti, who was locked in a solitary cell about 22 hours a day in the years before he died of throat cancer in prison in 2002.

"This has brought back all my memories of what my father went through," Victoria said. "He was always such an inspiration to me." When he died, she called him "a lion."

Victoria has been raising her boys alone since her 2001 divorce from Carmine Agnello, her childhood sweetheart who cheated on her with a company bookkeeper, only to be sent to prison for nine years on racketeering charges.

PEOPLE magazine pulled out as a sponsor of a party Jessica and Ashlee Simpson were set to host in Miami after the MTV Video Music Awards because Jessica made exorbitant demands that would have cost the weekly hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The Simpson sisters were going to host and perform Aug. 28 at the Setai resort. But an insider said: "Her demands became outrageous. She wanted everyone to set up shop at 6 a.m. and be there for like 24 hours. She wanted $20,000 for hair and make-up, $80,000 for a technical production budget which her father, Joe, was overseeing, and over 30 rooms at the Setai."

Another issue, according to a publishing source, was the ill-advised $200,000 contract Jessica signed recently giving OK! magazine exclusive access to the star.

"Her hosting the party for People magazine was a direct violation of her contract with OK! If she had gone through with it, she would have been sued." People execs decided Thursday night to back out.

"We had an agreement with Jessica and Ashlee Simpson to co-host an event the night of the 'VMA' event," said a rep for People. "But because of logistics and technical problems, it didn't work out."

A Simpson rep said: "There were discussions with People about their 'VMA' after-party, but Jessica and Ashlee were unable to do the party with them because of other sponsors involved with the event that would create conflicts with Jessica's master licensing deal and Ashlee's contract with Thermasilk. Both girls are extremely conscious of their business deals and would do nothing to violate those relationships."

According to eyewitnesses, the LOST IN TRANSLATION beauty was driving near the tourist attraction's entrance with two pals, when she swerved to get away from pursuing photographers and hit another vehicle containing a woman and her two young daughters.

An onlooker says, "The front of Scarlett's Mercedes damaged the side of the other car pretty badly.

"Scarlett looked really shaken up and when both cars pulled over in a safe spot, she apologized profusely to the other woman. After that, they spent around 40 minutes on their phones, sorting out all of their insurance and legal paperwork."

A Mercedes representative arrived soon afterwards with a new car for the actress to drive home.

Johansson's publicist MARCEL PARISEAU states, "The fender bender was induced by the paparazzi, who chased her for 45 minutes."

In June (05), fellow Hollywood actress LINDSAY LOHAN was left with minor injuries after photographer GALO RAMIREZ allegedly drove into her car deliberately. Ramirez was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. The case is pending.

And just last week (ends12AUG05), REESE WITHERSPOON got the disappointing news that a group of paparazzi who "besieged" her in April (05) will not face criminal charges of false imprisonment.

The other side of that story is that Ashlee just couldn't stand the fact that he favors Jessica so she wanted to get away from him....

Paris Hilton is now saying that she never actually wanted her ex-best friend Nicole Richie as her co-star on Simple Life. In a statement, Paris said that she really wanted her sister Nicky Hilton to do it with her… but that Nicky didn’t want to be in a reality show.

What really gets me about this is the following comment from Hilton. The good folks over at FemaleFirst give us this:

Certainly a girl that makes Paris Hilton look like an angel, at a recent night out is St. Topaz, is ready to settle down and be responsible for the lives of young children. Look at the people lined up through Hollywood waiting for the chance to leave thier children in the excellent care of Tara. She is certainly the poster child for what-to- do if you are itching to settle down. When she says “I’m crazy for kids”, are we sure she doesn’t mean “crazy for cocaine”??

NEW YORK -- When Victoria Gotti learned she had breast cancer, she kept the news to herself — hiding her draining treatments from her three sons and the producers of their reality show, "Growing Up Gotti."

With the show set to begin its third season on the A&E network this week, the daughter of late mob boss John Gotti revealed the details of her struggle to the New York Daily News.

The 42-year-old said she learned she was sick after a mammogram in November. She told her sons about the cancer earlier this month, after going through months of cancer treatments in silence.

"I lost 25 pounds," she said. "I was so exhausted, I could barely lift my arms. My producers were asking questions," as were her sons — Carmine, 18, John, 17, and Frank, 14.

LOS ANGELES - The Coast Guard says it is investigating the disappearance of Olivia Newton-John's longtime boyfriend, who failed to return from an overnight fishing trip off the California coast seven weeks ago.

Patrick Kim McDermott, 48, left San Pedro, 20 miles south of Los Angeles, June 30 on an overnight fishing trip. The Los Angeles Police Department said McDermott has been listed as missing.

Coast Guard officer Nathan Henise told The Associated Press Monday that McDermott was last seen on the fishing vessel and that his personal items were found on the boat.

"We're treating it as a missing person case," Henise told the AP. "Everyone is being interviewed, everyone on the boat."

Newton-John on Monday urged anyone with information on McDermott's disappearance to contact authorities.

"I'm hopeful that my treasured friend is safe and well, and I'm grateful to the officials who are working so hard to find Patrick, whom I love very much," she said in a statement. "I ask anybody with information that could help to please, please come forward."

Gavin de Becker, a spokesman for Newton-John, said the singer was in "close and frequent contact" with McDermott's family and friends, as well as investigators.

Authorities said McDermott's family became concerned when he didn't attend a July 6 event. They contacted the Coast Guard after his car was found in the marina's parking lot on July 11.

McDermott, a cameraman, and Newton-John, 56, have been together for nine years.

Newton-John, who starred in the 1978 film "Grease" opposite John Travolta, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992. After she beat the disease, she recorded the album "Gaia," documenting her experience.

I did hear about that!! It was on the Today Show this morning. Poor Olivia has really been through a lot....her dad died of cancer, and on the same day she was diagnosed w/ breast cancer. She recovered and now this! It doesn't sound like there is much hope.

Bice off ‘Idol’ tour after surgery

"American Idol" runner-up Bo Bice had emergency surgery for a blockage in his intestines, and won't be returning to the "Idol" tour.

According to a note on his band's Web site, Sugarmoney.net, Bice "has successfully undergone an emergency medical procedure that was urgently needed to save his life." At first the site said that Bice would be resting at home for at least six weeks, but it has now been edited to remove any reference to the amount of time Bice would need to recuperate.

TVGuide.com reports that Bice was rushed to the hospital before Thursday's "American Idols Live" concert in Las Vegas. The tour will continue without Bice, making stops on the West Coast, in the Midwest, and on the East Coast before ending Sept. 10.

Photographer Hits Back at Johansson's Chase Claims

Scarlett Johansson's claims of getting caught up in a traffic accident while trying to escape the paparazzi have been challenged by a photographer who witnessed the crash. Just hours after her Friday accident, reports emerged that the Lost In Translation beauty was driving into the entrance of California's Disneyland, when she swerved to get away from pursuing photographers and hit another vehicle. But JFX Images photographer Mario Toruno, who was pursuing the actress at the time, questions whether she was even aware of photographers tailing her before the accident, because they kept a low profile, using cars in front of them as cover. Toruno, who saw the accident unfold as he sat at stoplights nearby, says, "When she was driving in to the parking lot, she was going very, very slow - maybe about 15 miles per hour - and she started veering to the left. It was almost like when you drop something on the car floor and you try to pick it up. Or she could've been busy talking with the two friends she had in her car. I couldn't see what was going on inside of the car, but from the outside I could see that she wasn't at all being chased when she hit the other lady's car. The parking lot is confusing because it's very busy, so maybe she was unsure of whether she wanted to turn left or right. I'm guessing that because she veered to the left, she was unable to see the other car - the only other vehicle at the parking lot entrance at that time - from her blindside. That's when she slowly slammed into the other car. The nearest cars to them at the time of the accident were at least 40 yards away, and none of them contained paparazzi. It was just regular oncoming traffic. I know, because there was another set of photographers that with the traffic at the stoplights. I'm sure Disneyland has video cameras at its entrance to prove that this is what happened. To be honest, we'd have been happier snapping pictures of Scarlett on the rides with her friends. We never in a million years thought we'd end up taking shots of a road accident, and obviously that's not what we set out to do. We were as surprised as everyone else, because everything was in such a slow motion when the cars hit each other."

Phoenix Slams Mourning Brother Reports

Joaquin Phoenix has slammed reports he suffered a breakdown during the filming of Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line when a scene triggered the painful memory of his brother's death 12 years ago. The Gladiator star was playing a scene in which Cash recalled the death of his older brother Jack, who died in a horrific wood-saw accident aged 14. Phoenix's brother River Phoenix died of a drug overdose in 1993 outside Los Angeles nightclub The Viper Room. The 30-year-old actor reportedly broke down and repeatedly banging his head into a bedpost during the filming and was taken away in an ambulance. But Phoenix denies reports he was affected by the scene, and insists he was just getting into the mood of his character - a young Johnny Cash going through drug withdrawal. Phoenix tells the New York Daily News, "That's not the way my brain works. You know, the press has kind of imposed upon me the title of 'Mourning Brother', and because I haven't been vocal about it, the assumption is that I'm holding on to it and all this s**t that's just not there. I don't need to pull from my experience for a character, and I've never understood why actors would, except for lack of ability, imagination or research. I had all three things, so this is a little frustrating to me, because it denies my work and the research that I did." The biopic movie - in which Phoenix stars alongside Reese Witherspoon - is due to hit screens this November.

Love Denies Pregnancy Claims

Troubled rocker Courtney Love has slammed reports she is expecting English comedian Steve Coogan's baby, declaring their relationship is purely platonic. On Sunday, British newspaper News Of The World claimed Love had told the publication she is pregnant after a two-week affair with the funnyman in Los Angeles. The paper claimed Love had said, "Yes, I am pregnant with Steve's baby, but I'd rather not talk about our relationship." However, the 41-year-old singer has released an official statement through her management company, Sanctuary Artist Management, denying she is pregnant. The statement says, "Courtney Love wishes to make it clear that she denies recent stories suggesting she is pregnant or has had a relationship with Steve Coogan. Ledger Throws Eggs at Paparazzi

Australian actor Heath Ledger has taken to throwing eggs at the paparazzi when he catches them staking him out. The screen hunk is particularly annoyed by the presence of photographers when he's relaxing with his friends and relatives, so he now attacks them with eggs whenever he has any to hand. He says, "I've thrown an egg. Not at them just kind of next to them so it splatters up against them. That's how pathetic it is. That's what we're reduced to. You can't actually stand up and slap them. When they kind of spy in on you and you're trying to like bathe out in the sun, and you're with your girlfriend and your friends and your family... it actually feels like you're getting a slap across the face. And we can't physically stand up and hit them back, of course, it would be rude and against the law. So you just get an egg."

Sheen: "Reconciliation With Richards Is Possible"

Actor Charlie Sheen has ended weeks of speculation about the state of his marriage to former Bond girl Denise Richards by admitting a reconciliation is "possible". Richards shocked Hollywood when she filed for divorce from Sheen in March, but the couple have reportedly been attending counseling sessions for the past two months with a view to giving their marriage a second chance. Now, in an interview with US news show Extra, which aired Monday, Sheen reveals, "There's always a chance for that (reconciliation) as long as two people are still in the game... Friday night I was distracted at the Dime by all the trips to the bathroom that Lindsay Lohan and Mischa Barton were taking. Dressed in all black with red flats (keds, perhaps?) Mischa has flawless bone-structure, all the more apparent when you are a skeleton. Still, she’s a striking beauty. A British talk-show host is claiming that he legally married the singer — and even though the nuptials were obviously a prank, he’s saying the vows may actually be binding.

British TV host Richard Bacon alleges that he legally tied the knot with Spears while interviewing her in a hotel room for the U.K. morning show “The Big Breakfast.”

“It was the first time she’d told anyone she’d split with [Justin] Timberlake and I had a bit of plan, as I had hoped to get the admission out of her about the split,” Bacon, who also has a British radio show, told his listeners. “I had a vicar waiting round the corner with a real marriage certificate. I went down on one knee in front of her and said ‘Would you marry me?’ and she said ‘Hey sure.’” Bacon says he called in the vicar, who had a legitimate marriage certificate, and they both signed it.

But after the show was over, “I’m walking off with the marriage certificate down the corridor when this massive security guard comes hurtling after me, takes it out of my hand and tears it up as he realized what I’d done and that it was legally binding,” Bacon says, and goes on to insist: “You can’t just get rid of it by tearing it up, which means I actually could still be legally married to Britney Spears, which means her marriage to Kevin doesn’t exist and that Britney Spears a bigamist.”

Spears’ rep however, dismisses Bacon’s claim, saying, “Sorry to break Richard’s heart, but Britney Spears is legally married to her husband Kevin Federline and is expecting their first child together very soon. I hope Richard is able to accept this and move on from what must be a confusing time for him.”

We got used to Carrie Bradshaw's ups and downs, but when it comes to her creator Candace Bushnell, we can't just tune to HBO onDemand to figure out her latest dilemma.

Thankfully there are people who do "original reporting" (don't worry, we were unfamiliar with that term too), which is how we learn Ms. Bushnell is warring with her ex-manager and ex-friend Clifford Streit who is said to been the foundation for the Sex and the City character Stanford.

The friendship's decay went public when Streit sued Bushnell for 10 percent of the profits from the syndication of the show — a payout he deems fair as, supposedly, he "was instrumental in having launched Candace."

Only problem is, Bushnell is said to have long ago sold the television rights to her book to the show's creator Darren Star for just $60,000 back in 1996, which has given Streit reason enough to set his legal sights Star's way.

So what's 10 percent of $60k? Certainly less than even we make in a month, so what's the point — other than generating some undeserving press. Glad we could help!

August 24, 2005 -- VICTORIA Gotti never had breast cancer, as the Daily News claimed on its front page last Sunday — nor did she ever suffer a heart attack or earn a law degree.

Matthew Rich, her publicist of seven years, quit in disgust on Monday because his best friend's mother had died of breast cancer, a source told PAGE SIX. Rich was said to be revolted that Victoria would promote the third season of "Growing Up Gotti" by making up such a tearful tall tale.

When we called for comment, Rich would only say, "I no longer work for Victoria Gotti." Asked if she had ever suffered from cancer, he replied, "No comment."

The daughter of legendary Gambino crime boss John "Dapper Don" Gotti was quoted in the News as saying: "The day I got my mammogram and the doctor told me I had breast cancer, it was in mid-November. I had a little pity party for myself and I cried all day . . . I lost 25 pounds . . . I was so exhausted, I could barely lift my arms."

But Gotti backed away from the story Monday night on CNBC's "The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch."

The 42-year-old mother-of-three said she was not diagnosed with breast cancer as reported in the News, but with pre-cancerous cells she chose to treat aggressively before it became cancer. "What I had can be described as a scare," she said on the show.

She told us yesterday: "I could leave it alone and watch it, or get surgery. I chose to be aggressive and get the surgery." The surgically-enhanced blonde describes herself now as "100 percent well."

News columnist Joanna Molloy said: "Don't tell me Victoria is shape-shifting the truth again. She told us in January she had breast cancer, and that's the reason she took a leave of absence from Star magazine. She told us again last week, and we recorded it."

It might not be the first time Gotti has made a bogus bid for sympathy. A former friend said Victoria confided four years ago she had breast cancer, "but then she went into work the next day as if nothing had happened. I didn't believe it then, and I don't believe it now."

The News also goofed in reporting that Victoria suffered a "heart attack" a few years ago at one of her sons' basketball games. "The original story said 'heart incident.' An editor changed it to 'heart attack,' " Victoria told us yesterday.
