Brandon Davis verbally attacked by woman at a club
Brandon Davis learned this weekend that it doesn't pay to be vulgar and classless. The man who went on an obscene tirade last week against Lindsay Lohan was verbally attacked by an outraged woman outside a Hollywood nightclub.

"No wonder why Mischa Barton dumped your ass," the woman screamed. She added: "Go home and take a shower."

The woman, who wasn't identified, confronted Davis from behind the club's velvet rope.

Davis made the mistake of going on a terror against Lohan last week, making grotesque sexual and hygenic comments. During his rant, captured by a TMZ camera, Davis, the grandson of the late billionaire Marvin Davis, said that Lohan was worth approximately seven million bucks, calling her "poor."

The woman who confronted Davis said: "Lindsay Lohan earns her money. You get it from daddy."

Dixie Chicks: Take back apology; Bush owed ‘no respect ...'

NEW YORK - The Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines apologized for disrespecting President Bush during a London concert in 2003. But now, she's taking it back.

"I don't feel that way anymore," she told Time magazine for its issue hitting newsstands Monday. "I don't feel he is owed any respect whatsoever."

As war in Iraq loomed, Maines told the London audience: "Just so you know, we're ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas."

The remarks led to death threats and a backlash from other country stars, including a high-profile spat with Toby Keith. It also stalled what until then had been the group's smashingly successful career.

Bandmate Emily Robinson said she knew right away the remark wouldn't be taken lightly and got "hot from my head to my toes."

"It wasn't that I didn't agree with her 100 percent; it was just, 'Oh, this is going to stir something up,'" she told Time.

For band member Martie Maguire, the controversy was a blessing in disguise.

"I'd rather have a small following of really cool people who get it, who will grow with us as we grow and are fans for life, than people that have us in their five-disc changer with Reba McEntire and Toby Keith," Maguire said. "We don't want those kinds of fans. They limit what you can do."

The Chicks' hits include "Landslide," "Goodbye Earl" and "Wide Open Spaces." Their new album, "Taking the Long Way," is due out May 23. The first single is "Not Ready to Make Nice."

Richie and Goldstein To Wed

Nicole Richie and Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein are planning to marry, according to socialite's famous father Lionel Richie. On the same day US reports claimed the pair had split for the second time in five months, Richie told reporters in London they will marry and he will provide the entertainment. Speaking at the Prince's Trust charity concert on Saturday, the hitmaker revealed, "I told her, 'Honey, you do what you want and just send me the bill.' Of course I am going to be there for her, and I'll be singing - there's no way I couldn't. I'm really happy that it's working out for her." Richie and Goldstein have been dating since 2003. Did I miss where Reba McEntire joined the feud? I know the Chicks and Toby Keith exchanged nasty words, but I didn't realize Reba was a part of it? If not, it seems uncalled for that Marty would make that kind of comment about her music.

And, for the record, I 'get it' and support the Chicks' right to speak their minds. I love their music, but I also enjoy a little Reba and even a bit of Toby Keith now and then. I don't know how to take the comment that Reba and Toby fans 'limit' what the Chicks can do though. I'm almost inclined to be resentful!

Leigh Ann I think that she's meaning that she doesn't want to just be lumped in with other big named country acts. :) That's what I took it to mean.

I don't know if this is technically "gossip" but I thought it was funny, and a little insightful.

Royals Say They're Fans of Reality TV (http://apnews.excite.com/article/20060519/D8HN3M680.html)LONDON (AP) - Princes William and Harry have admitted to a royal indulgence - "American Idol."

In a television interview to be broadcast Saturday, Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry reveal that the young royals have an appetite for reality TV.

"He won't admit to it but we did both watch it, especially the American 'Pop Idol,'" said the 21-year-old Harry, pointing to his brother William, 23, and referring to the original British show that inspired "American Idol."

The lighthearted interview - excerpts of which were released Friday - was made as part of the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of The Prince's Trust, a charity that Charles founded to help the underprivileged.

William, second in line to the throne as the son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, joked about his younger brother's musical tastes, saying they were "pretty shocking." He gave no examples but said they did like some of the same groups.

The royal duo said they often fight over the remote control.

"'Friends' is always a safe bet," said Prince Harry, a recent graduate of Sandhurst military academy.

A concert at the Tower of London on Saturday will mark the anniversary of The Prince's Trust. Scheduled performers include Ozzy Osbourne, Annie Lennox and Lionel Richie.

Man that bums me out about Sir Paul and Heather. He was married to Linda forever so for some reason I think it's Heather, not him, wanting the divorce. Maybe she's weirded out by being married to a 64 year old?I heard that Heather really couldn't get beyond Linda. She's been known to leave the concert area when the Wings retrospect comes on since there's a LOT of pictures of Linda and Paul then. I also know that she wasn't around much during this last US tour.

I honestly don't care what the political beliefs of the Dixie Chicks are, although I support their right to express their beliefs. I just want them to get back to making great music!

Amen to that! I thought their last album was absolutely amazing and it totally got shortsighted (overlooked) thanks to this whole mess. I plan on buying their next album and I don't really give a crap if they offend people or not with their political statements.

I never believed they needed to apologize and I thought it was an unfair backlash they didnt deserve.
 But at the same time I was happy to see Matchbox Twenty's 'Unwell' go up on the charts when the radio stations stop plaing them.....I know I'm a bad girl.

I plan on buying their next album and I don't really give a crap if they offend people or not with their political statements.I just wish their new album was a little less about The Incident and more like their old lyrics. But, I am head-over-heals in love with "Not Ready To Make Nice," I want it as my ringtone when I find it! I still love them.

Hypocritical country music fans. Toby Keith tells everyone "We'll put a boot in your ass/It's the American Way" and his album sales skyrocket. But a Dixie Chick rightly criticizes a republican adminstration? Apparently the only acceptable speech is what the hillbillies agree with. I truly wonder if their album sales would have soared if there was a Democrat in the WH that they were criticizing?!

Wow. I know quite a few people who don't care for what the Chicks said and who get a kick out of Toby's music - and they happen to be educated professionals.

According to dictionary.com:

Hillbilly - A person from the backwoods or a remote mountain area.

Political and/or social beliefs do not a hillbilly make.

And speaking of hypocritical - isn't calling someone a derogatory name because of the music they like and the political views they embrace just as bad as criticizing the Chicks for their comments?

Wow. Sorry, I probably should have put "hillbillies" in quotes. Quite frankly, that is absolutely the stereotype of who country music listeners--regardless if it PC/acceptable or not (PS--I am looking to get a JD, MD and MPH in the near future, so I'm not sitting up here uneducated, but absolutely not the "typical country music fan"), or widely "true" or not. Google a definition of hillbilly music, and the definition is "country music."

Further, I never said that it was an either or situation, that you could only like/listen to one musical act or the other, so this was never about their musical style, it was about their MESSAGE/statement. It was about the reaction to a statement. The Chicks rightly critisized the administration--it is right to question authority, right to voice concern, right to have apublic opinion. And TK rightly supported the war. Yet one form of free speech is okay, but the other isn't? Puhlease. I sure as heck will critisize intolerance. I don't support TK's message, but I support his right to voice it. While I don't consider interolerance an acceptable political belief, it appears that in the world of country music, it absolutely is.

In addition, "derogatory" is in the eye of the beholder. I know more than a few people who would be happy to be considered hillbilly, just as I can think of numerous other "derogatory" classifications that others happily own up to and embrace.

And because this is the celeb gossip thread, I'm not going to derail this thread any further. Feel free to PM me. [/off topic]

Jessica Simpson has made plans to auction off her 3.5 carat wedding ring and donate the proceeds to charity a published report claims. The blonde actress and singer had recently been shown still wearing the ring around her neck, but no more. The report says the ring is off her neck and set for auction. According to Mike Walker - the proceeds from the ring will go to Jessica's favorite charity that she works so hard to promote - Operation Smile. The report claims that Jessica called Nick personally to warn him that she was selling the ring for charity. "Nick flipped out," an insider revealed. "He pleaded with her to meet so they could discuss it." Now apparently Jessica did agree to meet, but she refused to give up on her charitable contribution. In fact - according to Walker - if the pair just happens to reconcile, she will want a new ring for a fresh start. Nick is not happy - as he now realizes that some stranger could end up with Jessica's ring. Walker is also reporting in his "all the gossip" column that the ring will be auctioned off on eBay. No word on when the auction kicks off - but if this is accurate - the press release will come. National Ledger...
