In the last 4 hours my daughter has woken up 5 times screaming in pain. She’s almost 8 months old and has suffered from horrible gas since birth. I wake at least 5 times a night with her. I’m exhausted and she and I need relief.

DH and I describe her gas as “hard gas.” She screams in pain, curls into a ball and eventually passes a lot of hard gas (lots of pressure behind it). It’s surprisingly loud and hits her diaper with a lot of force. If she can’t pass it on her own, I pump her legs. Other times I’ll have to nurse her to get her to relax a bit at which time the gas passes.

I feel so bad for her. We’ve tried Little Tummies as well other over the counter baby gas meds, gripe water and colic tabs.

Her pediatrician said it would fade out as she got older. Well it hasn’t and we’re in desperate need of a solution.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are you still BF? (I saw in past threads that you were)
KellyMom suggests that time normally works for gas, but since it has been many months I can understand why you are looking for other answers.

Normally, a newly introduced solid would be suspect, but if she has been this way since birth, than in is probably something in the BM. The most common culprit is diary- meaning the dairy that you eat. It might be worth trying an elimination diet, to see if the problem is a dietary intolerance. There is a good chance that isn't the problem, but at this point it would seem like it's worth a look into.http://www.kellymom.com/babyconcerns/food-sensitivity.html
Did she happen to receive antibiotics herself or through you during pregnancy, delivery IV, BF etc. These can upset intestinal flora and lead to all kinds of problems.
