I've always love the name Brennan for a boy. I told my older sister I didn't have to worry about her "taking" it from me because her last name is Drennan and that would be so funny to name a kid Brennan Drennan!

I like Brianna for a girl.

We haven't gotten to that point yet. Still a couple years away. I'm sure I'll add more when we start talking baby.

My favorites for a girl are Rebecca (we'd call her Becca) and Rosemary (combination of my grandmothers' names - Rosa and Mary).

DH's favorites are Matthew and Jennifer (I really think Jenna is cute, but DH hates it.)

06-27-2005, 04:46 PM
I love the name Ryan for a girl, but DH won't go for it. I really like the spelling you posted tbell!

I wanna play:

My names for the moment are:

Jace Taylor

and

Keanan James

Unfortunately DH doesn't like to play the name game until we are PG - doesn't he get a woman's obsession  . He is usually either 'No' or 'Eh don't love it'. When I ask him for his favorite names and he is willing to play I get things like:

Justin Case (just in case)
Justin Casey (just in case he)
Ryder More (ride her more) - More is his middle name
Derek Jeter (yankees)
Joe Torre (yankees)

UGH. . . . no help . . .

Yup, we're traditional and boring... :)

kmmommy
06-28-2005, 06:47 PM
I love all these names.

We're more into modern names, but so many of the traditional names are great too. I can't wait to have another baby to name! I loved trying to decide on K's name even though I drove DH crazy!

emmjay
06-28-2005, 08:13 PM
We have another month or so before we start trying, but we have talked names already! They are all family names, so they're pretty old-fashioned/traditional.

Girls -
Frances - DH's grandmother (I don't know why, but I love this name)
Rose or Rosemary - DH's grandmother and aunt
Kathryn - my grandmother
Zada - my great-grandmother, such a unique name but this one has been vetoed by DH :(

Boys -
Jack - my grandfather
James - my uncle
Martin - my great-uncle, and another name I really like. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for the kid ;) ) my husband HATES this name because he went to primary school with someone named Martin who was made fun of by all the kids because he drank skim milk. The fact that I drink skim milk doesn't seem to make a difference.

He has also vetoed Connor, which was his grandmother's last name - he said it's "too popular now". This veto thing is already getting on my nerves... ;)

There are a few I haven't wavered on liking, but DH seems to change his mind on a whim. I'll mention a name and he'll say, "Ooh yeah, I like that, but then two weeks later I mention it again and he says, "ew, no, are you kidding?"

Girl:

Madeline
Natalie
Meredith
Allison
Ella
Ava
Avery - (DH says this name reminds him of some big ol farmer on a tractor with straw hanging out of his mouth...I LOVE this name so I'm disappointed.)
Eleanor (at least for a middle - family name)

Boy:

Andrew (DH's middle name)
Thomas
Ethan
Adam

ETA: ali ohli: Do you have someone in your family named Ione? I have an Aunt Ione and a Great Aunt Ione - I'd never heard it anywhere else besides my family - and they pronounce it "I-OWN", not I-OWN-EE. Interesting.

ali_ohli
06-29-2005, 10:05 AM
ktdelsur I got Ione from the actress Ione Skye, better known as Diane Court in Say Anything:

http://www.nowtoronto.com/issues/2002-03-07/movie_videodvd-1.jpg

I would pronounce it I-OWN-EE. (Though it would be a cold day in hell before DH agreed to that one, so it's a moot point. ;))

I just had a baby boy, Connor. Connor was not my #1 choice, the name Evan was, but I was sick of fighting over it with my DH! :o I will say now though, I can't imagine him being named anything else! (I do agree on the popularity of it as someone else had mentioned.. I keep hearing it being called in parks, supermarkets, etc.)

If we had had a girl.. she would have probably been Kate, runner up was Allison (we really didn't agree on much here).

Our other boy name choices were:

Evan (this is my cousin's name, so my DH thought it was "weird" to use)
Chase
Ryan
Daniel

I always enjoy reading other people's choices!

Wesley
Hamilton (nickname issues)
Charles
Thomas
Rhyss (pronounced RICE - I think my sis has dibs)

Girls' Names:

Samantha Christine (the only girl name we have picked out so far, she'll have DH's initials and Christine is a friend of the family that died about 5 years ago)
Rebecca (my sister's name, we'd call her Becca since my sister goes by Becki)
Alivia
Jillian (or Gillian)
Elizabeth
Kathryn (DH's Grandma Kate)
Maggie (DH's Grandma Maggie, her real name is Margaret, not too hot on that name though)

Boys' Names:

Grayson Everett (our boy name so far but I also love Grayson Joseph or Grayson Christopher)
Joseph
Bradley
Thomas (DH's uncle who died a few years ago, they were very close)
Andrew

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Kids are at least 2 1/2 years off, but DH and I agree on a select few (he tends towards the very traditional side-I, on the other hand, like the trendy names):

Girl:
Cate Jacqueline
Mia (no middle name agreed upon, but I like Emberlynn)

Boy:
Samuel Thomas (DH's initials)
Colin William (William is a family name on DH's side)

Others that I like and would require some arm-twisting on my part: ;)

Holland Suzanne
Claire Emerson
Keena Reese
Lane Preston

Anderson William
Cash William or Cash Stephen
Carsten William

I also love the name Piper for a girl, but it's not even up for consideration w/DH.

Love how most of us have way more girl names than boy names! Why are boy names harder to come up with?

meatpie
06-29-2005, 04:02 PM
Kaeden's Mommy We can't come up with hardly ANY names we both like.

BOYS
Jack Maurice (most likely the name if we have a boy)
Owen
Gregory - doubt this one goes through
Ty - vetoed because my college ex from 10 years ago was named Ty (I mean who really cares  )

GIRLS
Samantha Michaele
Samantha Maney
Samantha Alene
Reese Michaele

I can't think of any others. We seem to veto each other quite a bit!

06-29-2005, 08:56 PM
Ooo, fun!! We've pretty much decided on Paige Sierra and Nicholas Dakota, but here are some others I like:

Girl Names:

1. Emma
2. Savannah
3. Grace
4. Isabella
5. Haley
6. Jenna
7. Jessica (I don't know what it is about this name that I really love, but I do, but DH rejected it because an ex was named this  )

Boy Names:

1. Cooper
2. Connor
3. Ethan Ryan (have always LOVED this combo - DH doesn't though.. :( )
4. Sam (not Samuel)
5. Liam
6. Will (not William)
7. Jayden (also Jay)
8. Jack

Can anyone think of a different middle name for Nicholas that keeps the "nature" feel of Dakota??

Camdynlyn
06-29-2005, 09:11 PM
Kelli, what about Nicholas Skyler or Nicholas Forrest?

sublime311
06-29-2005, 09:22 PM
Kelli, what about Nicholas Skyler or Nicholas Forrest?

I do like Skyler, but DH doesn't! Grrrr! And I LOVE Forrest, but Forrest Gump sort of ruined it for me! Don't get me wrong, I love the character, but kids are mean - I can imagine the teasing! I guess it wouldn't be so bad as a middle name.

Hmmm, what about River??

Camdynlyn
06-29-2005, 09:37 PM
Ooh yeah, I like River. Oh and Ryder. That is on my list, too!

imagirliegirl
06-29-2005, 11:44 PM

Love how most of us have way more girl names than boy names! Why are boy names harder to come up with?

Now I have the opposite problem :D I can't think of any girl's names that I just love. I am starting to like Avery, but I have a feeling that it will soon be "the name" like Madison, Grace, Emma :(

Beth

ali_ohli
06-30-2005, 09:31 AM
ITA about Avery. It's lovely, but I'm hearing it all over the place lately. Angie Harmon just named her new baby girl "Avery Grace."

Do you guys all know about the Baby Name Wizard (http://babynamewizard.com/)? I love playing with the Name Voyager tool -- very fun for procrastination. :)

06-30-2005, 10:55 AM
DH and I were talking and we both really like Winter for a boy.

Comments? Thoughts?

Can anyone think of a different middle name for Nicholas that keeps the "nature" feel of Dakota??

Winter came out of a similar discussion. DH really likes outdoors names - River, Leif (which is not really), Sierra, Savannah, Rose, etc.

mimieliza your hubby would fit right in with the Phoenix family... River, Summer, Rain...;)

If this baby is a boy, we are in trouble!! We have NO names we really love *sigh* Here is what we have as possibilites for now:

boy: Zakary Steven

girl: Nikole Anne

I love Zoey of course ;) and Kassidy, Isabella (Bella), Kadence, Kailey, Becca... my mind is blank, but I know there are more girls names I love. For us, middle names are kinda a big deal for "family" names  It can be a pain though!!

Natasha
07-01-2005, 04:12 PM

I've always been a traditionalist when it came to names...

Girls:
Miranda (which would have been my son's name if he was a girl)
Isabel
Beatrice
Jessica (which really goes back to my smutty romance novel fancy - I loved a character named Jessie)

Boys:
Geoffrey (my son's name)
Kirkwood (my gram's maiden name, my uncle's name - we call him Kirk)
Henry
Basil (with a soft a, not like the spice - Basil Rathbone is one of my favorite actors... but never really in contention because of teasing factor and that everyone would pronounce it like the spice)

Does anyone else's DH nix almost every girl name you come up with?
The only one he likes so far, (that I don't really) is: Jordyn

For boys, he wants to stick with a "J" name and we like Jake and Jack , others include:
Benjamin (my grandfather's name)
Ryan
Nicholas

For girls, (aside from Jordyn):
Ava (DH hates it, says it reminds him of a '6 ft tall Russian woman')
Gabriella/Ella (can't sell him on this one either, but it's starting to become my favorite)
Madeline
Julia (great-grandmother's name)

JRPAGV
07-06-2005, 04:48 PM
Caitlyn (or maybe Kaitlyn or Katelyn; Kate for short?)
Hannah (DH doesn't like how it rhymes with my name)
Olivia (middle name; family name on DH's side)
Brooke (middle name)
Kaley (This is the name we decided on a while back, but my brother/SIL just named their new baby Haley.)
Paige (middle name)
Sarah (middle name)
Elizabeth (middle name; my mom's name; won't work b/c our last name is long)
Emily (middle name)

Nathan (Nate for short)
Ashton
Bradin (or maybe Brayden; not sure on spelling; rhymes with Hayden)
Austin
Candler
Justin
Kaden/Caden (DH's addition; not sure on spelling)
Kyle (middle name; family name on DH's side)
Paul (middle name; my late uncle's name)
Dylan (middle name)

Girl names that DH kicked off my list:
Avery (only because there's a V in our last name)
Lainey
Nicole (middle name)
Autumn
Rachel

Boy names that DH kicked off my list:
Nicholas (DH doesn't like with our last name)
Brandon
Connor
Tyler

There are a ton of names I love but we have a Mexican last name so there are certain names that just do and don't go with it.

We are having a girl in October and are naming her:

Gabriella "Ella" Anne

other girl names I like are:

Isabella (too popular)
Emma (know a weird Emma with our last name, so I can't do it)
Olivia (friend's daughter's name)
Maya
Isabel

If it was a boy we would have named him

Benjamin

but still couldn't decide on a middle name

DH's favorite boy name is Alexander but since my name is Alexis it would be weird.

We love Joaquin but most people would mess it up but it's still not out...it's my favorite. :)

I think I'm adding Tatum to my list of girl names. I've never heard the name in use by a REAL person (other than Tatum O'Neal), but yesterday I met my co-op teacher's daughter- it just really struck me as super cute!

I would love to hear perceptions about this name..

sublime311 and stevesbabygirl: My DD is named Tatum Rose. I love it :D We've had mixed reactions to it. Mostly from "older" people...like grandparents age. Everyone we tell who is of our generation loves it. One annoying thing--said "older" people usually have some smarty comment like,"Oh, like Tatum O'Neal?" To which I answer, with equally smarty sass,"Yes, but without the alcohol and drug addictions." I'm not sure why, but for some reason this comparison is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Burnt Orange,

DH says the same thing whenever I mention that name. "You mean Tatum O'Neal?" is what ends up coming out of his mouth, especially because he used to play tennis, so he knows that she was married to John McEnroe. Unfortunately, that's many people's only exposure to the name.

It's like me and the name Sabrina. I love it, but whenever I say it, DH thinks of Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

KaliLily

If we have a girl, she will be either Kassandra Emilie (after our mothers Sandra and Maria Emilie) or Kaitlyn (middle name TBD). Other girl names I like are:

Grace Elizabeth
Joscelyn Michaela

After almost 8 years of never agreeing on names for a boy, we may have finally reached a concensus with either Kyle Philip Jerome or Philip Jerome (for our fathers Philip and Jerome). I also like the names Hunter and Isaak but I can't talk DH into it.

kris97

We have a very Italian last name, so most very Irish and English-sounding first names just don't go well. In the same vein, we really don't want the stereotypical Italian names either, which nixes Anthony, Vincent, Maria, Angela , etc.

That said, I _love_ "a" ending girl's names with our last name, so any daughters will have one. My two favorites are:

Isabella Blair (Blair is a family name)
Alexandra Corinne (emphasis on second syllable)

Since I get to name the girl(s), DH gets to name the boy(s), He refuses to have any names that are vaguely trendy. (I'll come up with all these great names, and he says, "No way! He'll get his ask kicked with that name!")

So far the only contenders are

Matthew James
Andrew James (James is a family name)

stevesbabygirl,

Ok, I'm gonna date myself here...When I hear Sabrina, I think Bewitched  Same with Tabitha. My DH loves that name, but I can't get over thinking we'd have a little girl who uses her finger to wiggle her nose. Silly, I know.

Kanga
07-09-2005, 06:15 PM
I guess I'm not much of a help, but for our girl, we are going with

Daytona

No middle name yet. I have decided that 2 syllable names work best with it and our last name, and nothing that ends in "A" since our last name starts with "A". I think it would be overkill.

For boys I'm crossing my fingers that the ultrasound won't fail and surprise us, because the only one that I can come up with is Landen. And I'm not even that crazy about it.

It's like me and the name Sabrina. I love it, but whenever I say it, DH thinks of Sabrina the Teenage Witch

Dh loves the name Clarissa, but when I hear it, all I can think of is Clarissa Explains it All.

Girl:
Sophia Clare
Ainsley Elizabeth
Ella Clare

Boy:

i love Barrett for a boy now.... i heard it in McDonalds of all places but that little boy was sooo cute

We aren't planning on babies for a while and haven't even started thinking of names, so this is totally off the top of my head. Names I like:

Girls:
Stella
Genevieve
Alanna
Amelie (although so similar to the very popular Emily I doubt we'd use it)
Julia (family name)
Caroline
Lila
Madeleine

(I love flower names, like Lily, Rose and Violet-- but FH's last name is Field so that won't work. Poor kid would get teased. Also, I love the name Fiona but I think Fiona Field sounds like a comic book character).

Boys:
Conor
Liam
Lachlan
Barrett (family name)
Preston
Spencer
Tristan
Kieran/Ciaran
Campbell
Duncan

What does my FH like? William. That's it. I asked him once what names he liked and this was the ONLY thing he could come up with. *sigh* I suspect we're in for quite a battle when we actually get around to having kids.

Ooh -- fun! A lot of my favorite names, *noone* in my family likes, let alone dh... sigh. But at least I know from reading that you girls at least have good taste ;)

GIRLS:
Caroline Jane ("Caro" my dd -- Jane is mom's name, and my middle)
Lauren Paige (probably our next girl, should we have one)
Adrienne (my other top fave, but I don't think I like Paige with it)
Elisabeth (was going to be Caro's middle, and now can't use b/c it's dh's sis' name)
Gretchen
Audrey or Audra
Katherine
Sarah
Riley (except, it's too boyish-trendy, and I've got this elegant Caroline thing going on now. I picked a path, need to stay on it...)
Isabelle
Meredith
Charlotte
Carson (what can I say, I love the movie Shag)
Avery (have loved this one since high school, but cannot bring myself to use a top 10 name.)
Emily (same problem.)
Courtney (now there's one you haven't heard in a while!)

BOYS:
Well, we don't have much choice, as the first boy is always named William, but we get to pick the middle name. Have been through many, but it will most likely be
Fisher (my maiden, and prob. what we'd call him. Too many Williams around!)
Parker -- my current love. Visions of Baby Parkie running through my head...
Carter

In general, I'm all about the "maiden name as first name" thing for boys. :D How predictably episcopal of me.

Girls

Nicholas Bruce (my dad's name is Bruce)
Benjamin Paul (for FH)

We're due in January, but have put MANY hours into finding names we can agree on ~ even since before the wedding!

As of right now, here's how the list plays out...

Dallas Kate (Dallas is my maiden name and we would call her Dally)
Lainey Paige (DH hates it)
Emily (DH's choice, I don't like it)
Kayla (recently put on DH's list of favorites)

Jack Ryan (our first choice)
Jake Daniel
Tate Ryan or Tate Daniel

Hopefully we'll only have one girl because if we have to try and agree on another girl's name, it might get ugly!

my mom named me "lauren marie" after my grandmothers laura and mary. so i'd like to keep up that tradition. so, if we have a daughter, we'll name her "madelyn joy" after *her* grandmothers marilyn and joyce. and the more i think about the name madelyn, the more i love it! :) (the jury is still out on a favorite boy's name)

other girls names i love:
jocelyn
sara
caroline

we struggle with names because we have a somewhat ethnic last name and so a lot of the more popular names (madison, mckenzie, cameron, logan, etc.) just don't feel right with our last name.

Natrat80-We love all of the same names (except Zac)! If I have a girl (if I ever GET pregnant) I think I want to name her Addision or something like it because I love the nickname "Addy".

Hayden was my Grandpa's name and I always wanted to name a boy Hayden Thomas. I always thought Hayden was an unusual name growing up but it seems alot more popular now.

Grace (Gracie) is my dog's name! Wish I would have saved it for a kid, but that was a long way off when I got her and I loved the name and wanted to use it.

Question for those of you who like the name Lily

We are thinking of the name Liliana and then calling her Lily. For some reason Lily seems like too short a name. Or does it? I do love the name Lily, but would you go with a longer name like Liliana and then call her by the nickname but have the option of the longer name, OR just cut to the chase and make her formal name Lily?

JRPAGV
08-12-2005, 01:46 PM
Jaycee: I love the name Lily. :) I also like Liliana (Lily as a nickname). I think Lily would work best if you have a last name with 3-4 syllables and the middle name is short too. Or, you could use Lily as a middle name but still call her that. Or, Lily with a middle name that's 3 syllables should sound good.

Oh BTW, how do you pronounce Lillia: Lilly-ah?
Ainsley: Anns-lee?
I am not sure about Lillia- I would assume you are right. I went to H.S. with a girl named Ainsley- Anes-ley. Long A as in cane instead of short as in Anne.

Good names!

We're probably several years away from kids, but . . . :D

We plan to have two kids (eventually). I get to name our girl, if we have one, or our second boy. FH has named our first boy. I really don't like a lot of the "eunike" modern names, especially all of the "K" names with the butchered spelling -- but then again, I don't want my kids to have the most common name on the block, like Michael and Jennifer (the big ones when I was growing up). Our kids' last name will begin with "L", and we are mostly of Irish descent, in case that matters when you vote on names!

Boy:
Our first boy is Brennan Gregory. FH selected this name and I like it.

Girl:
Catherine
Abigail (nickname Abby, which I love)
Caela (my cousin has this name)
Calla (maybe call her Callie as a nickname?)
Julia
Sophie/Sophia

I'm open to other ideas for girls, as well as boys' names -- I have no idea what I'd name a second boy!

We have names picked out..
For a boy:
Xavier Warren (pronounced zavier rather than x-zavier, Warren is my grandpa's middle name and he has no namesakes)

For a girl:
Haley Eileen (Eileen is my mother's and mine middle name)

Other names I like:

Alyssa Nicole (Had it picked out until my BIL named his lil girl Alyssa)
Xander Warren (I know love the X names, our joke is "little baby x")
Hannah (Too popular after we looked it up)
Caleb (Another IL used that one as well)

My husband and I are having the hardest time coming up with boys names that we agree on. and we're keeping the sex of our baby a surprise til the very end. here's what we have so far...

boys names that I like
Jackson
James
Wyatt
Brady - DH does like this name, but he has a girl cousin Brady...
Holden - family name on DH's side.

boys names that DH likes
Colin - I like Colin, just not crazy about it, but I think I could learn to love it!
ROCCO  no offense to anyone, but it just doesn't go with our last name, and we're likely to have a red-headed freckle faced irish kid. Rocco just wouldn't work ;)

girls
Brianna
Riley
Reagan
Cassidy

we have tons more girl names that we both love, but we're trying to just narrow it down to 1 of those 4.

MichelleRenee our last name is Reese too, only spelled differently! and what's funny is that long before I even met DH, that was definitely my top girls name. I LOVE it for a girl...

I love the name Holden! There was a character on Guiding Light named Holden and I was just so in love with him! When I was younger I swore my children would be named Holden and Caleb (Holden's brother's name). Also, I love the name Riley for a girl!! I perceive it to be a popular girl's name.

Great ideas for names ladies. DH and I have been talking about names for the next Baby D(yet to be conceived).

We have a Ryleigh Jane already, (it wasn't that popular when we picked it out)

Names we have been thinking about:

Cheyenne
Reese
Faith
Audrey
Hope
Julie
Mackenie
Shannon
Taryn
Brooklyn

As a middle name either Elisabeth or Beatrice (DH's Grandmother's name)

Keep the names coming!

My hubby decided he doesn't like "Logan" anymore and I was heartbroken. We aren't even PG, but I just LOVED the name.

He suggested another name that is really starting to grow on me for a boy:

Tristan

He is determined to name our son after a great leader or a knight.... Tristan was one of King Arthur's Knights. I really do like it

I also wanted to post that I LOVE my niece's name:

Kianne

When I first heard it I thought "how wierd" and now (probably because I love her so much ) I wish I could use it.

LynzeyAHL - My cousin chose William Jackson for her son (which we should be expecting in a few weeks now). Just thought it was very similar. Great choice!!

Boy: Ethan Gregory (first choice) or Ethan Arion (Ethan because we love the name. Gregory is my DH's middle name. Arion is from Third Eye Blind-our fav band-and there's a great story about Arion the Greek Poet and Musician which I would love my child to know. DH and I are very into music, its very much a part of who we are. Its also unique and similar to DH's name. He didnt' want a Ryan Jr so this is as close as we can get.)

I may have posted mine here before, but I can't find it if I have, so here we go:

Boy: Gage Anthony (Anthony is DH's middle name)
Girl: Gracey Evelyn (my maternal and paternal grandmothers)

My middle name is Cherry- I was named after my dad's mom, Jessie Evelyn Cherry (maiden name). I love it but it doesn't seem to fit with other names I like...

To me, boys names are so hard. It seems that there is less choice...old girls names seem to come back easier than boys. The names in our families are so un-doable:
Dale
Clyde
Robert
Russell
John
Janie Fern
Ruth (although I am not totally against this as a middle name, DH is

I'm just thrilled to see so many of you like/ love the name Charlotte... we are having dd #2 and it is my absolute favorite, and dh does not like it. Every week I try to focus on one of our other girl names, and I just can't do it -- this kid is Charlotte to me. (whine whine whine -- he'd better get over it, I'm doing all the work here!)

On the chance he really never does get over it, she'll probably be
Ainsley Katherine (Kate) -- amusing just how popular Ainsley is in here, too!

Paige as middle name for either of them -- I don't think I like Charlotte Ainsley, though that would be my big compromise LOL

He likes:
Lucy

We both like Lauren, but it's just SOOO popular, almost to the point of boring.

I also love Tatum, but he won't go there & I'm not wasting my fight on that one!

I have gone through this whole thread about 3 times in the last week since My DH and I got our 1st BFP 12/2 (three more since then and a Dr confirmation hopefully tomorrow).

Here is our list so far:

Boys:
Ryan - This is actually the front runner right now. It is very interesting to see that this is more popular as a girls name, since I knew 4 Ryan's (all boys) in college.
Connor - This being the front runner for the middle name. For some reason my DH is stuck on a "C" name for the middle name
Andrew
Cayden
Owen

Girls:
Ashley
Kayla
Brenna
Christin - My middle name (would be used as amiddle name)
Avery
Morgan
Brooke
Rachel
Syndey
Maren - As a Middle name

My brother has a cool name. It's Brennan. I really like that name and you rarely meet people w/ that as a first name. Just an idea.

polkadot, I know, I know. I just can't get past the whole having-5-kids-with-same-name every year school thing... That's why I'm focusing on "classics" that are in a little less use right now ;) I'm kind of disappointed not to use Lauren, but everyone got there first in the last couple of years :D

Caro's daycare teacher actually asked me the other day: "So, it's a girl. Will she be Taylor, Mackenzie, Ashley, or Bailey?" In total seriousness. Horrifying.

Subscribing. This is a fun thread. :) Names are hard. B and I have one girl's name and one boy's name picked out. If we end up with two boys or two girls, we're in trouble. :p

That's what I told DH this morning, but just about boy names if we were to have twins in there (not planning on more after this one). I'm fine when it comes to girl names--I have such a long list. Boy names--none of them sound right with our last name and/or they don't sound "related" to the sibling names.

Txfish, have you considered Laurel instead of Lauren?

But when people ask for advice, I am very honest about my feelings regarding certain types of names.

This is not an advice thread, so I kept my mouth shut.

I think we've narrowed it down to TWO for our boy...Harrison James or Ian James (the James being for my grandfather.

Jack had been in the running for a while, but we're starting to think it'd be almost 'too' popular/trendy. Not that there's ANYTHING wrong with that, we are just SO not trendy! :)

We have our big u/s on Monday so hopefully the little one cooperates and shows the goods.

For a boy we like Braden. Can't think of anything else-dh likes Kyle but I dated a Kyle in the past and although the chances of running into him are slim to none I'd rather not use it.
Our ds's name is Joshua David.

We're so stuck on girls names-dh wants to use his mothers name as a middle name but I really don't want that at all. I think it will hurt my mother's feelings.

So for girls the only ones we've thought of are:

Olivia
Julia
Samantha

Olivia is my fav. dh's fav is Samantha(call her Sam) but he thinks by giving me Olivia I'll be more open to using his mom's name as a middle name. Uh no.

DH and I have been throwing around names for a while now. I really like the unique names, but I also don't want my child to have to spell their name every time they say it.

The names we are still throwing around are:

Boys:
Lucas
Nicholas
Nathan(iel)
Both our dad's names are Kenneth, so we are talking about using that as a middle name, if it flows with the first name we choose.

Girls:
Hailey
Emily

I know there are so many more that we both like, but these seem to be the ones we are really stuck on.
