I DIY'ed my invitations so I don't have Thank You notes yet. I am planning on ordering them from a photo website that does greeting card collages, but I am wondering if most thank yous have some sort of text in them? I plan on handwriting a note to each recipient but am I supposed to have printed text as well? Thanks!

If you want to be proper, not only shoudl they not have *any* writing on them, they should be on stationery or statonery cards, not greeting cards.

i had no preprinted text on the inside of my thank you cards. i just used regular "thank you" cards.

I used flat cards with our names at the top, similar to these but in our wedding colors:

Yeah, I know, but we have so many beautiful photos that I want to include them. As it is, if I had gone the "proper" Italian route, my invitations would not have been colored at all but would have just been 130 lb plain, white, single-layer, flat cardstock.
Granted, I suppose I could do both, but that just seems like extra work, and I am extra-worked out from doing all the invitations.
well, we included a wallet sized picture of the two of us in our thank you's, and we also made copies of pix that included the guests we were writing a thank you to, as well. we were too lazy to actually design a thank you card that was made with an actual picture.

We used simple thank you cards that were blank on the inside and included a wallet sized photo as well.

We were going for fun and creative, rather than proper. Here are ours. We got tons of complements on them. I took the picture in Aruba. I googled "thank you quotes" until I found one i liked, then I used Vistaprint.com to have them printed. I don't remember the exact price, but I do remember it being quite reasonable.

I designed the cover of our Thank Yous to match the invites and over all theme.
The stationary was bought at Hobby Lobby on sale and came blank so all we had to do was print the front and hand write the messages.

We also included photos to every guest.

Here was ours, albeit blurry. I made them myself, and the font matched the invitations I made too. I just used the plain stationery cards from Michael's that were $10 for a pack of 50 or something.

Handwritten thanks went inside.

We just had our monogram on the outside and a blank inside. No 'thank you' or any printed text. We did include a small picture of us as an insert, but it wasn't part of the cards.

I bought mine at Target. :o After making all my invitations, etc., I'd had it with paper crafts. They were plain white with a silver leaf on the front (we were married in the fall, so I thought the leaf was appropriate), and said a simple "thank you" in the same silver ink. Inside they were blank.
I did buy a few thank you cards from Squibnicket for close friends who I knew would "get it." I can't find them at the moemnt, but when I do I'll post the words on the front of them because they're hilarious. :)

Ours were these engraved fleur de lis cards from Crane. The fleur de lis was a recurring motif at our wedding. We wanted elegant, traditional thank you cards.

We used traditional ecru folded notes with the motif from our wedding invitations and our names on the outside (no pre-printed text inside). The wedding thank yous we receive are generally white or ecru folded notes with names or a monogram on the outside and no pre-printed text inside or sometimes flat note cards with a monogram on the top. I think it's fine to be creative and put a picture or quote on the outside of the note or choose a colored paper, but I am not a fan of pre-printed text in a thank you note. IMO, the entire message needs to be handwritten.

This isn't our professional picture, but it gives you an idea of what we did.

krissycat - Where are your thank you notes from? I've been searching for a simple note that has the blue we are using in our wedding. That lighter blue looks like it might be just the ticket.

I think I am going to get embossed monograms. There are some pretty cheap ones made by Embossed Graphics. They do a few other kinds as well. I found this website http://www.thestationerystudio.com/stationery.cfm that does some really nice stuff... lots of options and pretty inexpensive.
