I recently started reading a few blogs and I'm looking for more (way too much free time at work).

So far, I really like:

http://dooce.com

Can you recommend your favorite blogs?

(I did a search for this but couldn't find a thread exactly on this topic.)

www.waiterrant.net I got hooked, and have read through all 2 years of posts. Waiter is awesome :D My favorite story is about the Outback Steakhouse/woman who tried to claim the staff at the Bistro stole her purse. What a riot ;)

Great idea for a thread. It's always fun to discover some random (or not so random ;) ) blog and find yourself obsessively reading it from then on. :)

Here are some of my favorites:

Accidental Hedonist (http://www.accidentalhedonist.com/)

The Daily Headache (http://www.thedailyheadache.com/)

Thanks Berry!!!

I'm sure we've talked about this before, but I couldn't find anything through searching (feel free to bump and I can delete or merge). I'm trying to reach out and discover more blogs - in particular, more women bloggers. I'm noticing though that many of them are married and with kids. There's got to be more to the blog-o-sphere than just Dooce. Are there any good ones with single gals dating, or for married with no kids? Or maybe crazy folks with too many pets? :D You know...variety.

Share what you like and visit on a regular basis and please tell us what it is you like about it...

Two Tasty Ladies (http://www.2tastyladies.com/)(food reviews)
Greek Tragedy (http://stephanieklein.blogs.com/) (Stephanie Klein - although she just had twins, so if you only want kidless, then this won't work)
Life Begins at 30 (http://www.lifebeginsat30.com/)(another Bay Area food blog)
Manolo Loves the Shoes! (http://shoeblogs.com/)
Mighty Girl (http://mightygirl.com/)(writer for Mighty Goods, mentioned above)
Oh Joy! (http://ohjoy.blogs.com/)(shopping)
Trainwrecks.net (http://www.trainwrecks.net/) - they primarily skewer threads on mothering.com and indiebride.com
Defective Yeti (http://www.defectiveyeti.com/)
Que Sera Sera - hilarious (friend of Dooce) (http://www.queserasera.org/)
Gush Party (http://gushparty.com/index.htm) - Jay is hilarious, you can read through Sir Awesome, etc. his main blog is The Letter Jay
Jay's wife Patti (http://www.greencellardoor.com/) - aka Lady Awesome

I have a few other food blogs that are local, so probably not of much interest to others. I don't really have that much free time - I just have no social life and could get a PhD in procrastinating :D

I don't think these are what you're looking for, Katy, but here are some blogs that I read:

BookSlut.com (http://www.bookslut.com/)- Blogging about books & authors. Great book recs here.

Curbed L.A. (http://la.curbed.com/)- Interesting & humorous L.A.-centric blog. They've got their "End of the Year" awards up right now, which are pretty great.

The Amateur Gourmet (http://www.theamateurgourmet.com/)- Food & recipes.

Hostess With the Mostess (http://www.hostessblog.com/)- Good blog about entertaining, food & party decor.

And also, all the usual gossip sites: Perez Hilton, Go Fug Yourself, Popsugar, Dlisted.com, SocialiteLife.com, etc.

If anyone else is as old as I am and remembers Quinn Cummings (from "The Goodbye Girl" and "Family"), she is now out of show business and a business-owning wife and mom in California. Her blog, the QC Report (http://qcreport.blogspot.com/), is a pee-yourself-laughing saga of her life with Consort and Daughter. I want her to be my BFF.

(But warning: the most recent post is much more melancholy than usual, especially if you're a pet lover--she's had to euthanize her dog. Skip it and read pretty much any other post if you're looking for a laugh. I defy you to read the one before it, Roman Far and Wide, without laughing out loud to the point that people in your office stare at you.

Two really great cooking/ foodie blogs:

ChocolateAndZucchini.com (http://chocolateandzucchini.com/)- This girl is a culinary student in Paris. She actually has a cookbook coming out in May. Her recipes are heavenly, but I really just love the passionate way she writes about food and mealtime traditions.

101Cookbooks.com (http://www.101cookbooks.com/)- An awesome site for recipes and discussion of food.

Other:

SocialiteRank.com (http://www.socialiterank.com/)- Okay, this is really, really shallow... but addictive. Some guy skewers and celebrates (okay, mostly celebrates and worships) NYC socialites like Tinsley Mortimer and Fabiola Beracasa.
eta: This site went down in big, gossipy flames involving lawsuits and outing in NY papers earlier this year. Google if you're interested- it was fairly mesmerizing. It's been replaced by Park Avenue Peerage (http://parkavenuepeerage.wordpress.com/) which isn't quite as fun.

Down With D (http://www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/downwithd/)- Travelblog.org has a lot of good blogs, but I especially love this one. Two female friends, Moira and Kate, have been backpacking around the world for the past year. Their trip is almost over, but you can read back through all the entries and check out their amazing photos.

I heart Meg Cabot's blog- Meg's Diary (http://www.megcabot.com/diary/). She's hysterical! Even if you've never read any of her books, her blog has something for everyone: celebrity gossip, funny stories about her cat, writing/publishing chitchat, fun pictures, etc.

More:

La Coquette (http://lacoquette.blogs.com/)- Blog by an American girl living in Paris. She's currently blogging the fashion shows, but it's more often about Parisian culture and general observations.

Clews: The Historic True Crime Blog (http://laurajames.typepad.com/clews/)- This may have been mentioned before. Fascinating.

Franklin Avenue (http://franklinavenue.blogspot.com/)- L.A.-centric blog about happenings around town.

I read a lot of the ones mentioned in here but here are a few more:

Somewhere on the Masthead (http://masthead.blogspot.com/) Phenomenal writer. There was a recent tragedy so postings have been sporadic but start from the beginning and you'll be laughing/crying hysterically in a few moments. If you're a pet love, read his stories about Blaze, the dog.

WilWheaton.net (http://wilwheaton.typepad.com/) Someone else recommended this to me and I visited out of morbid curiosity (having been a lifelong ST fan) and stayed because it's a very well written and interesting blog. If you're a gamer or poker player there's plenty of geek talk to keep you coming back. But there's also wonderful family stories and insightful, excited stories about dealing with Hollywood.

NOTCOT.org (http://www.notcot.org)
Uncrate (http://www.uncrate.com)
Design Addict (http://www.designaddict.com/)
Design Observer (http://www.designobserver.com/index.html)
Modish (http://modish.typepad.com/)

Daily Puppy (http://www.dailypuppy.com) and Daily Kitten (http://www.dailykitten.com)

On an entirely different note:
Belly Tales (http://www.bellytales.com)*
Observant Midwife (http://observantmidwife.blogspot.com/)*
SageFemme (http://sagefemme.blogspot.com/)*
The True Face of Birth (http://rixarixa.blogspot.com/)

sea74 There are a couple of them out there but you'd have to be more specific about how the births were handled to narrow down which blog. There was one, FPMama, who was a Family Practice doctor and told amazing stories but she took down her blog because she became concerned about confidentiality issues (even though she omitted names and specifics).
