i was planning on making one of those dirt puddings - the chocolate pudding with crushed oreas and gummy worms. but my sister asked me to bring something "finger food" instead.
when i made twinky sushi recently, my nephew thought that was pretty cool. but it will be mostly the same people at the birthday party tomorrow - so it's kinda been there done that.
so - any ideas for what a 13 yo boy would think is a cool dessert. he;s getting a "fruit pizza" for a birthday cake.

Cupcakes are always good...and if you bring a variety of toppings and maybe 2 different frostings, then the kids can customize their own.

If you still want to go with your original idea, you could put them into individual cups (in case your sis is worried about serving?).

What about a sundae bar? You scoop the ice cream into bowls, then the kids add their own toppings. Put out crushed m&ms, peanuts, cherries, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, etc. Even adults love that! If you want to make the kids feel grown up, put the ice cream in martini glasses.

How about a chocolate peanut butter pizza (http://food.southernliving.com/southern/recipefinder.dyn?action=displayRecipe&recipe_id=1084371)?

kimberland thanks for posting that kraft link. i shoulda thought to check there. . .
reenie i considered doing the dirt pudding in individual cups, but we have to drive 3 hours to get to my sisters, and i was a bit worried about transport.
singlewhitefemale that pizza looks great. i think i'll make it for fathers day!
so what i ended up doing. . .
i got a bunch of plain munchkins from dunkin donuts. i dipped them halfway in white chocolate. i stuck a blue or green mini m&m in the middle of the chocolate. then drew some squiggly lines with some red food coloring. and now i have a bowl of bloodshot eyes!

Sounds like a great idea! Just a thought: Next time if you wanted to do indv servings you could get a 24-cup mini cupcake pan and plop them in there, cover with plastic wrap, :)

Oh, I bet the bloodshot eyeballs were a huge hit with boys that age! How creative!

yes - they were a huge hit! my nephew was so proud, walking around with the bowl saying to people "can i interest you in an eyeball?"
and i'm proud to say, i am still maintaining "cool aunt" status with my nephew. and that's what it really is all about. . .
