(x-posted from my Journal)

So, I just spoke with the doctor... My blood test came back positive, but with very low betas (7) and low progesterone level. At this point - this can go either way, that's why she wants to see me again on Monday to do another blood test and an u/s.

I currently have a due date of 01/01/07 but since I recently had a m/c and have not seen the doctor yet, I am not joining any threads at this time. Maybe next week after my u/s and bloodwork. Hopefully we'll both be in here come January!

I have been suspecting that I'm pregnant, and when I didn't get my period this past week I bought my third home preg. test (previous two were negative). I took it yesterday morning, then confirmed with one today. We were actually avoiding getting pregnant, but I think I'm excited that I am. My husband, is a little more nervous, and keeps saying over and over, "There's no way!" I think with time, he'll be excited too. It's a sunday, so I've got to wait until tomorrow until I can make a Dr's appointment. I still can't get over seeing that pink plus sign in the little window--I keep checking it just to make sure I didn't imagine it.

Anyway, Congrats girls! This'll be fun! :)

Welcome Melanie! :D It's so nice to see that our little group is growing!

Good luck on your appointments, IndianaBride and GardenGirl! I am so nervous about mine tomorrow. I am trying to relax, but it's really difficult...

I didn't want to tell parents until after my appointment this week, but - DH is so sure that everything will be fine that he insisted on telling parents today. Today was a 2-year anniversary of DH's father passing away, and when our families got together to go to the cemetery, DH announced that we're pregnant and that we are going to name our child after FIL. It was very nice and emotional and everyone is really happy, but I'm just so nervous that something will go wrong and than we'd have to tell everyone and they will be really upset and disappointed... :(

This sounds silly, but I honestly knew I was pregnant about 4 DPO. I could just feel it! I got antsy and tested at 7DPO (stupid me!) and it was negative, of course! I waited and tested again at 11DPO and I got a very, very faint line. Almost a shadow. I've tested every day since (I'm now at 13 DPO) and the line has gotten a teeny bit darker, but not much. That's what worries me! I feel like it should be darker by now. My AF isn't supposed to come for about another 4 or 5 days so that could be the reason it's still so light, but I'm super nervous I'm just having a chemical pregnancy or something.

I'm calling the doctor tomorrow and hopefully I'll be able to get an appointment very soon! I promised myself I wouldn't be a paranoid pregnant lady, but I'm already turning into one. UGH!

Welcome Robyn, and Congratulations!

but I'm just so nervous that something will go wrong and than we'd have to tell everyone and they will be really upset and disappointed...

This is my fear exactly. I bought "Your Pregnancy week by week" yesterday. I've been reading it, and I realized I am not out of the woods so to speak. I'm so scared something could go wrong. Every ache or tingle, I am so aware of now. I feel so much more in tuned with my body that I ever did before. It's a weird feeling.

I'm calling today to schedual my pregnancy confirmation appointment. We want to get it in this week so we can tell the new grandparents on Mother's Day. I'm so nervous! DH says his parents (we'll be the first of their children to have children) will be upset/concerned, because we are so young and it was unplanned. But I can't imagine them being anything but excited. I figure if we present it as a pleasent and exciting suprise, they'll take our cue and be excited too. Ahhh... I still can't believe this is happening!

Welcome Robyn! My first BFP was very faint at first as well. They started getting darker after 3-4 days and now are almost darker than the control line. I don't think that there's such a thing as NOT being paranoid, especially at this stage of our pregnancies... - I am terrified of everything and I hate this feeling, but can't help it... :(

Melanie - I know exactly what you mean! I feel every ache and every twinge too - and it's driving me crazy already! ;) Telling parents is so awesome! - I wish we could just do it over and over again! My father teared up and DH's grandma started clapping. :D It was the best feeling!

Good luck with your appointment today, GardenGirl!

An update on my doc's appointment today: I love this OBGYN office - it's the women's health group and there are 6 doc's, who take turns seeing each patient. They each specialize in a particular thing, which makes it so wonderful - they are EXTREMELY knowledgeable over there! The Dr. I saw today was very sweet - he talked a little to DH and I in his office, got some of our history, etc. Then, drew blood, prescribed progesterone supplements (prometrium) and pre-natal vitamins. They will call me with blood test results tomorrow and he wants me to come in for an ultrasound next week. He said that last Tuesday may have been too early for the numbers to be higher than they were and that he hopes that everything will be fine with my pregnancy. He didn't seem concerned and spoke with so much confidence. I am so much more at peace now! :D

Zhanna, I'm so glad you had a good DR appt today. Let us know how your bloodwork turns out. I'm on progesterone supps to. They aren't bad at all, except my breasts are extremeley sore.

I went and had my blood drawn this morning for my repeat beta and progesterone test. They said they call at 3:00 with the numbers. They have just a few minutes before I start calling them. When I went in on Thursday morning and had my blood drawn, they told me to call around 3:30-4:30 for the results. But they called around 12:45 with the BFP! So that spoiled me. I was really hoping to have the results back early. Now I'm on pins and needles.

Congrats and welcome to all the new additions. I can't wait to go through this journey with you all.

Just got my info back. HCG went up to 590, so it is doubling nicely - 40.7 hours to be exact. My progesterone is going up, but still low. It was 12.3 on Thursday and is 13.8 today. The nurse said to keep taking the prometrium and come back on Wednesday for another test. So I will.

Phew - I feel much better. I was really nervous about making sure it's doubling.

zhannushka
05-08-2006, 02:54 PM
Oh that's so great to know that your beta's are doubling nicely, GardenGirl! :D

I am on pins and needles now about my numbers - I won't know until sometime tomorrow and it's killing me! I feel like all I've been doing for the past week is wait - wait to confirm the BFP, then wait to go for the 1st appointment, wait to get the results of that, then wait for this second appointment today, now - wait again to get the results tomorrow... There's only so much waiting a girl can take!

(I am so sorry for the vent)

GardenGirl
05-08-2006, 06:43 PM
Ditto on the waiting game. I just want to know what lies past the blood work. When do I get my first appt with the doctor? I just keep being told, 2 more days, 2 more days. I bet I go on Wednesday and then they have me come back on Friday. Geez!

I mean, I'm happy they are monitoring me via blood work since they can't via ultrasound yet. Especially since some doctors (like a friend of mine) don't have you come in until 8 weeks and only do a urine test. I'm just yearning for knowledge and information. Ya know?

robyn
05-08-2006, 07:16 PM
Thanks for the welcome everyone! Here's to a happy and healthy 9 months for all of us! :)

I tested again today (yes, I'm obsessed) and I finally had a line equally dark as the test line. I'm been debating over whether to go in and get a blood test ... can someone tell me the benefit? I am deathly afraid of needles and having blood drawn. I know that I'm going to have to deal with this a lot throughout the pregnancy, but I would like to delay it as long as I can! :D

I guess I should call my OB and see what she wants me to do. I was planning to call today, but I have strep throat (great timing) and I just don't see how I could have dragged myself out of the house today at all.

Glad to hear your betas look good GardenGirl!

Zhannushka, hope you have great news tomorrow!

GardenGirl
05-09-2006, 05:27 AM
Robyn, the nice thing about having a blood test is that you can continue to see your levels double. That is a calming feeling (for me at least). I just don't think I could do a HPT and that be enough. I'm constantly looking for confirmation.

Some doctors do them, and some don't. It might be worth a call.

zhannushka
05-09-2006, 08:49 AM
While blood tests and confirmations are great, it is also very stressful to sit here and wait for the results - wondering whether you'll hear good news or bad news... I was talking to my mom last night - she said that when she was pregnant with both me and my sister, they didn't do blood tests, unless there was an obvious problem (known previous issues or bleeding, etc.), and therefore - she wasn't worried as much as I am now in such early stages of her pregnancies.

GardenGirl
05-09-2006, 09:27 AM
Good point. I'm the kind of person that is sort of a control freak though. So to know what is going on actually destresses me. We went through a lot to get here, I just don't think I could sit back and accept a urine test. But that is just me.

As the cliche goes ... "different strokes for different folks" :) :) :)

Good afternoon ladies! I didn't end up going to the doctor today because my OB called in a blood test for me yesterday. So there was no need to go pay my family practice doctor a $20 copay for him to tell me what the blood test will already tell.

Glad to hear that your appointments went well GardenGirl and Zhanna:)

I didn't go to my family doctor at all with this pregnancy, Stacey. I've asked around (here, on the boards) and everyone just told me to go directly to the OBGYN, which is what I did...

Just got a call from the doc's office - my beta's are doubling in 39.3 hours, which is good! My progesterone is still on the low side (12), but higher than it was a week ago. I started taking prometrium last night, so - they want me back in for another blood test tomorrow morning to see whether progesterone is going up.

robyn
05-09-2006, 02:52 PM
Zhannushka - Glad to hear the news was good!!

Thanks for the info on the blood test ladies. I called my OB today and told them I had a + HPT this weekend and they said they wouldn't need to see me until I was 8 weeks. I asked about the blood test, but she said it wasn't necessary. While I'm relieved that I will be needle-free for another few weeks, I'm a tiny bit concerned that something could be wrong and I won't know it for another month. Oh well - I haven't had any bad symptoms at this point ... no spotting or anything.

So, my first appointment is June 8th, and we should be able to see the heartbeat then. I can't wait!

GardenGirl
05-09-2006, 03:31 PM
Robyn, that is great news about having an appt. You should definitely hear a heartbeat by then. How exciting. I can't wait to find out when my first appt is. I have more b/w in the morning (hopefully my last) and maybe they'll mention when I get to actually come in.

Zhanna, you are in the same boat as me. Your HCG is doubling just a little fast than mine (mine is 40.7). But I too have low progesterone. I've been on the prometrium and it is helping. I'll find out tomorrow if it is still going up. I did an Internet search and saw that the normal level for progesterone is 9-47. So mine can definitely come up, but I don't feel too discouraged about it. The nurse didn't seem concerned. I just thought it was supposed to be really high - good thing I looked.

Indiana Bride, good luck on your results. Will you get them back today? Just thought I'd give a shout out to Indiana. DH is from there and his family still lives there. While I've turned him into a Texan, he loves Indiana.

I'm joining. I just got my BFP this morning. My doc doesn't want to see me until 7-10 weeks, so my first appointment is June 2. I'll have my first sonogram then and see the heartbeat. This is our second time around, so I'm not as nervous this time. However, just saying that makes me feel like I've jinxed myself.

DH & I had already planned a trip to Italy. We leave in a week and a half. Hopefully everything will be OK while we're there. I asked the doctor about it. She just said to get up frequently on the plane to avoid blood clots in my legs and not to eat any under cooked food while over there.

I am sooo frustrated! I got my blood taken yesterday (Monday) and they told me to call to get my results today. So, I called them at work around 11 and they said that the lab hasnt' faxed mine back yet. They said to call around two. So I call back at two, and the results are still not back!!! They said to call around four. I was afraid to call back at four and have them tell me they STILL wern't back yet, and when I go home, there was a message from around a quarter to four saying for me to call them, but I didn't get it until after 5. The office closes at five!!!

I know I am pregnant. There's no doubt in my mind, but I just want that confirmation! I know it's a good doctors office, so I don't want to switch doctors, but it is just so frusturating. I know they can't control when the lab faxes back results, but then tell me to call on Wednesday, or call me first--when they do get the results. This waiting game is the absolute worst! I can't do anything until I get this BFP, and ugh... I just want someone else to tell me what I already know, maybe it will make it more real, you know what I mean?

Sorry for the rant, it's just frustrating.

Melanie - I was just as frustrated all day today - even though I love my doc's office, I was so upset at how long it took them to call me back with blood test results! - I went in yesterday at 8:15 am and didn't get a call until 4:15 pm today...

DH is blaming my frustration with them on my hormones going crazy, but I just don't understand why must it take so long...

Congrats and welcome Donna:D

Add me to the list of those frustrated with their OBs office today:mad: I talked to the nurse and she was like I 'may' get a call or I 'may not' get a call with the first results but that I'll definitely get one after the second draw. Either way I went to the lab and picked up my results-my HCG at 17DPO was 2743 but my progesterone was only 12.2 (so a little low as well). I go back tomorrow for a repeat blood draw so hopefully my numbers will be doubling and my progesterone will be a little higher.

Zhanna-If my numbers look good from my next draw-I'll officially accept the title of co-threadmistress:)

Welcome Donna! Our little group is filling out. :)

Stacey, Melanie and Zhanna: Sorry to hear you guys are having frustrating experiences with your doctors! Hopefully you will all have good news soon!

***

Has anyone had any symptoms yet? My bb's are really sore (although not quite as bad as last week) and I started wondering if I was having the beginning of morning sickness, but I thought it might be too early. In the past I could eat and eat and eat until I was sickeningly full (but not feeling nauseous, just really full). Lately, if I get the tiniest bit full, I start to feel nauseated! Perhaps this is psychosomatic, or perhaps it's related to the strep throat I am getting over.

GardenGirl
05-10-2006, 06:06 AM
Has anyone had any symptoms yet? - just my BBs. I think it is the progesterone supplements though, but I have no experience to say that. It hasn't been as bad the last two days, thankfully. I wore a sports bra to bed on Sunday and Monday night because they horribly painful. But yesterday and this morning, they are just uncomfortable.

Zhanna - Im sorry to hear about your loss, I can't begin to imagine what that is like. I hope your progesterone goes up and you have a H&H 9 months. When do you go back to check on it? Or do you?

I wish all a happy Wednesday!!

zhannushka

Has anyone had any symptoms yet?

- My boobs have been hurting since before I got a BFP. The night before I tested, I had shooting pains in my boobs - something I've never felt before in my life! That's why I decided to test the next morning - I just knew that something was up... ;) Now - they still hurt, but definitely not as much, some days worse than others. I started progesterone supplements 2 days ago, but haven't really felt the difference (yet).

-I also have to pee ALL.THE.TIME. It is annoying! And my co-workers are looking at me funny - I never had to run to the bathroom every 5 minutes before!

Thank you GardenGirl! I actually went in for another blood draw this morning. I should have the results tomorrow... (more waiting!)

QOTD: I know that "frequent urination" is one of the symptoms and it was bearable until this morning. But starting this morning, I almost feel like have UTI (sorry, if that's too much info!) - I feel like I have to go, but when I do - it's hardly anything... Does anyone else feel like that? Do you think I'm actually getting a UTI or is it just a regular "pregnancy thing"?

GardenGirl
05-10-2006, 02:20 PM
QOTD - I've increased my trips to the bathroom a little. But I know it's because I've really increased my water intake. I've started to break out a little on my face and I know that drinking more water can help that (a little). I don't have any UTI feelings - you might want to ask your doctor about that when they give you your results tomorrow.

Speaking of results, I'm supposed to call and get mine in a few minutes (at 3:30 Texas time). I'm sure everything is fine, I just want to make sure my progesterone is rising like it's supposed to so I'm anxious to hear. I love that I can get my b/w results back the same day. I can't imagine waiting the next day. Can you tell I'm a little impatient :)

zhannushka
05-10-2006, 02:38 PM
Good luck with your b/w results, GardenGirl! You're so lucky that you can get them the same day - that overnight wait is terrible... :(

I called the OBGYN's office already and left a msg for the doctor to call me back. I told them that I think I'm getting a UTI and I'd like to get antibiotics asap. Hopefully, they can do this for me quickly.

GardenGirl

Got my results and my HCG was 1422, so it's doubling every 37.8 hours. So that is very good news. My progesterone went back down to 12.6. The nurse said the doctor still isn't concerned. My RE said that there is 10 times more progesterone in the uterus than there is in the blood, so not to worry.

The nurse said that now my HCG level is over 1000, we should be able to see something on an ultrasound. So she set me up an appointment, for TOMORROW! Wow! I'm surprised it was that fast. I hope we do get to see something. I'm not expecting a heartbeat or anything. I just want to see something!

I'll let you all know how it goes. I can't believe I'm already getting my first appt, I'm still shocked this whole thing is actually not a dream.

GardenGirl-Yippee for your numbers doubling like they should:) I'm jealous that you're getting an u/s. My doctor said we could schedule one around 7 weeks, so I've got a couple of weeks.

I got my betas back on Monday evening (17DPO) my hcg was 2743 and on Wednesday morning (19DPO) it was 4832. So it didn't quite double but it had only been about 1.5 days between the test. My doctor's said the numbers are fine especially since I had such a good increase. He also said that my progesterone of 12.2 was fine-that if it was under 10 they would probably supplement but that 12.2 is fine:)

Zhanna-Have you heard from your doctor's office yet?

Hi Melanie and Robyn:)

I am actually going into the doc's office this afternoon to rule out the possibility of a UTI (it's gotten much better, but I just want to be sure!), so - I guess I'll get my results then.

Just got back from my appointment - my beta's are doubling every 43 hours, the number is now 1894! My progesterone is over 15 (I forgot to ask the exact number, but that's what the doctor said), which is what they want to see it at and they just want me to keep taking the supplements.

As far as the UTI - they sent my sample to the lab and will get back to me if something looks abnormal. She did say that my symptoms don't sound like it's a bad case of UTI and that they don't like to overtreat pregnant women if they don't have to. So - she said I should just drink a lot of water and cranberry juice and I'll be fine.

ETA: I have an u/s and another blood test scheduled for next Thursday (May 18th) and a doctor's appointment (discussion) on Friday, May 26th.

GardenGirl - how did the u/s go?!

GardenGirl

Sorry meant to post yesterday, but was way too busy.

The u/s went great. My RE wanted to make sure that the embryo implanted in the uterus and not my tubes. Well it is smack dab right in the middle of my uterus. That's great. He said it's too early to see the baby, but he measured the sac and said everything looks great. I'm measuring a little smaller (5w0d), but there is an error of + or - 5 days, which puts me at my LMP measurement. He wants me to come back in 2 weeks (I'll be 7w4d) and we'll make sure we see a heartbeat. I'm so excited.

They gave me a little picture and it is just a small black blob. My mother hates it when I call it that. I tried to scan it, but is showed up all black. I'll see if I can figure out how to get it to show up correctly.

He still isn't worried about my progesterone - just keep taking the supplements he said. No more blood work for a while, so my arm is thankful.

Hope everyone is doing well today.

That's so great about your u/s, GardenGirl! I am glad it went so well!

I've got a question for you about the supplements you're taking - does it cause you to have any unusual cramping? Ever since I started prometrium, I've been feeling these dull aches in my back and on the sides of my waistline. I'm hoping that this is just a side effect of prometrium, otherwise - I have no idea what it might be... :(

Hi Stacey! :)

ETA: I ended up having an u/s today! :D I had some cramping, called the doc's office, they told me to come in. When I came in, they sent me for an u/s. I saw the gestational sac, right in the middle of my uterus! So cool! DH was there too - he loved it. :p They took measurements, but I don't know the results of the measurements yet, since the doctor didn't look at them until after I left. However, the tech told me that everything looks beautiful and call back tomorrow if I want to know the details.

Stacey, I think that pretty much anyone who will still get their BFP in May will be a January 2007 mommy... (unless it's really late in May) I know that a few ladies in the SWH thread will be testing soon and I'm hoping that they get those BFP's they've been wiating for! So, I sure hope that we'll have more future mommies join us!

Happy Mother's Day ladies!!!

Zhanna, I do experience a little cramping throughout the day. My lower back is starting to bother me a little. Mostly though I just feel like I've done a lot of situps. My stomach area is sore. The cramping, when it comes, itsn't too bad. It's noticable. But since I haven't had any spotting I don't worry too much. My very good friend just had a little boy and she told me not to stress over the cramping too much. She said she had it, as did most of her friends. Sounds pretty normal. Your u/s experience sounded just like mine. A tiny little sac right in the middle. Amazing isn't it.

Anyone have any appointments coming up? I have one on May 25th to hear/see the heartbeat.

I wish you all a wonderful day.

Take care!

zhannushka

Happy Mother's Day! :)

GardenGirl, that's exactly what my stomach feels like too - like I've been doing situps all day... I do also have some lower abdomen cramping, on one side or the other. That's why I went to the doctor on Friday, so they ruled out ectopic after the u/s and told me that I'm fine.

I have two appointments coming up - next week for another u/s and blood draw and the week after for an appointment with a doctor just to go over a few things. I'll put your appointment on the 25th on the front page, GardenGirl.

Morning ladies - just wanted to rescue us from page two. I'm staying home from work today. I have a terrible sore throat. I called the nurse this morning and she gave me a list of things I could take. I'm off to the pharmacy to get something. I can barely swallow. If it is still bad this afternoon, I'll call to make an appointment with my ENT and see what he says.

I hate being sick.

Hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day.

Welcome and Congratulations Julie! :D

And - thank you, Stacey! :)

I have another doctor's office vent today - as you ladies know, I had an u/s done on Friday afternoon. Now, because there was no tech available at the doctor's office, they sent me to the affiliate hospital for the u/s. The technician there told me that everything looks good to her, but if I want details (measurements), I should call my doctor's office in about 2-3 hours. Which I did, on Friday, but - everyone was gone for the day. They are closed Saturday and Sunday, so - I called first thing Monday morning - all doctors were busy, but the receptionist took my name and number and told me that someone will call me back. One of the doctors called back in about 3 hours, but - I was busy with work and didn't hear my cell phone ring, so - she left a voicemail. I called back after about an hour and that doctor was gone, but the receptionist took my name and number and told me that someone will call me back. Noone did, so - I called back later last night. The answering service picked up and told me that all doctors are gone, but they can take my name and number and ask the doctor on call to call me back. Of course - noone called back. I called first thing this morning, again - all doctors were busy with patients, but - they took my name and number (for the 5th time!) and said that the first doctor who becomes available will call me back - it's been 3 hours and I haven't heard from anyone yet!!!

So, the question is - do you ladies think that I should switch doctor's offices again? Or is something like this fairly normal? I rarely go to doctors, so - maybe I'm just overreacting?

Melne11
05-16-2006, 02:34 PM
I think that punctuality should be a big factor in whether you choose a doctor or not. You don't want to be just another patient that can't get a hold of someone if you have a major concern. Although, it might be a good sign that they are so busy, it means he/she's a good doctor? I don't know. If you really like your OB then maybe it'd be better just to bear with the bad office staff, but if you are indifferent to your OB, then maybe I'd go shopping for another.

zhannushka
05-16-2006, 04:01 PM
You're right, Melanie. And being that this OBGYN office comes with high recommendations from co-workers, friends and even relatives - I think I'll stick with them and try to be more patient in the future...

So I went to the ENT today to see what's going on and I have an infection. No wonder I feel like crap. It's in my throat (which hurts like heck) and has started to move into my lungs. So I'm sitting on my rump at home drinking a bunch of water. He gave me a prescription for amoxicillin. I know he said it's okay to take, but I hate taking medicine in the first trimester. I'm so nervous about doing anything to risk this pregnancy. It took us awhile to get here, so I'm real paranoid about everything I do. Of course, even it took me no time to get pregnant, I'd probably still be paranoid.

So here's my question. Would you take the antibiotic? The doctor doesn't want my infection to get worse, but if I could just wait this out - I'd be much more comfortable. WWYD?

Zhanna, I hope you get your measurements soon. I know it's nice to hear everything is going well, but it sure is much better to hear EXACTLY how well. Hopefully you won't have to go to the affiliated hospital next time and you can get your results right then. GL

Ericka - I have an appointment with one of the doctors in the office next Friday. I will make sure to mention that I am not happy with how long it's been taking them to get back to me each time. Thanks for visiting us in here! :)

GardenGirl - I am sorry about the infection. I was going to say the same thing as Ericka did - I think you're better off taking the antibiotic and getting your body rid of that infection. I hope you feel better soon!

robyn

GardenGirl - I'm just finishing a round of amoxicillin tomorrow. I came down with strep throat last week and was presribed that by my doctor. I did a little research and it appeared to be pretty safe. I was a little nervous about taking it too, but I figured it was much better for me to get well and strong again than to let the sickness carry on for who knows how long.

If you are worried about certain medications, you can check out www.safefetus.com. It lists a lot of different drugs and whether or not they are safe to take while pregnant.

Hope you feel better soon!

Robyn - Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm so glad to hear that someone else in the same boat is taking the same thing. I know it sounds silly, but I'm also worried about the coughing. My husband laid right next to me last night and held my stomach while I coughed. Like I said, I know it's silly. But I'll do anything and everything to make sure I have a healthy baby in 9 months. Ya know?

jmvan74
05-17-2006, 08:06 AM
Gardengirl: Sorry you've been feeling crappy. I agree with the others about taking the meds. It's better for your baby for you to be healthy. ;)
As for the coughing...in my first pg, I was so sick that I would wake up coughing until I dry heaved. This happened for several days. It was so bad I went to the ER b/c I thought I cracked a rib. Anyhow, the point is....I have a beautiful little boy who survived my violent coughing. :p

This was kind of a surprise because DH has been travelling a lot for work and we didn't think he'd be home at the right time until late next month at the earliest! So when AF was late and I took a test and told him it was +, he said "I don't understand, how did this happen?". We are kind of not thinking too much about it right now because I am worried about having a m/c since I had one before DD. It just happened so quick and with DD it took us 6 months and a m/c before we got pg with her. I called my OB and my first appt. isn't until June 27!! So I will be worried for 6 more weeks......yuck. If I can just keep busy until then (and with a 1 year old it won't be too hard!), and hear that everything looks a-ok then I will be great!

Looking forward to hopefully sticking around and getting to know you all!

I had to go out and buy a maternity bra last night - I cannot fit into any of my bras anymore (normally - I'm 38C), well - I ended up buying a 40D maternity bra yesterday... I wore a tighter then usual shirt to work today, so - my co-worker and best friend (who knows that I'm PG), screamed out "wow, look at those boobies!" the moment I walked in the door... :D

Morning sickness: I had the all day nausea with #1 and the best thing I could do was eat at least every 2 hours. I had to constantly be munching on something. I found that peppermint mentos were great, too.

magdesilver

Symptoms: I swear I already feel much bigger than I did with #1. Part of that is that my tummy is bigger to begin with (never quite got it back as flat as it was, even though I lost all the weight!) but I just feel so bloated by the end of the day! I have very small waves of nausea but nothing serious. Last time the m/s hit starting at about 9 weeks to about 15 weeks, and during that time I threw up at least once a day, if not more. It sucked. Hopefully it won't be as bad this time becuase my 1 year old is not that patient to let me lie on the couch all day!
I really wish my ob would let me come in for an earlier appt. and do an u/s but when I asked they said unless I was spotting or whatever there was no need.
My bb's are not sore or anything yet either, they were with #1 but I also just weaned DD (like 2 nights ago was the last time I nursed her) so I'm not sure how that might be playing into it either.

I'm feeling better today. Still decided to take the day off. I really want to get rest and make sure my little one is healthy. Poor DH hasn't it now too. Luckily he can take the good medicine. I'm stuck with a low dose amoxicillin and lots of fluids.

I got in such a coughing fit last night that I popped a blood vessel in my right eye. It totally freaked me out. I went to take my contacts out and the white of my eye was blood red. I started balling. DH calmed me down and got me to bed. I'm just at my wits end with this infection. I've been down for the count all week.

But I do think I'm on the tail end of it.

Zhanna, that's awesome about the heartbeat. We have our u/s on Thursday of next week. We are thrilled. Did they let you tape it? My RE told me to bring a VHS and he'd tape it. Then I think I'll have it converted to a digital file so I can email it to family out of town.

Stacey - That's great about your first apointment going well! :)

jmvan74 - I've heard women say that before... I guess I should get myself in a routine of bringing snacks to work with me...

Margaret - I also feel ridiculously bloated most of the time, but especially towards the end of the day. I also feel like I've gained 20 lbs., but I know that I haven't...

GardenGirl - I am so glad that you're feeling better! Don't worry too much about popping a blood vessel in your eye - this just happened to my dad, about 2 weeks ago, and went away within about a week. His was really bad to begin with too - the whole eye was red.

ETA: To be honest - we didn't even think to ask them about taping the u/s... :( I did get 1 picture out of it though :p Sending a tape of it to family sounds like a fun idea though! I took a digital picture of the u/s picture (the one I posted in here) and emailed it to my parents and MIL.

Margaret: I feel more bloated this time, too. I'm actually wearing a pair of DH's pants today. :o I started a thread about showing in the 2nd pg over in ..geesh ...pregnancy and the average time people broke out the maternity clothes was 10weeks!

Gardengirl: Sorry about the coughing fit. I can truly relate. Did you talk to the DR. about cough medicine? I took robitussin during my 1st pg. Try to get some rest.

Zhanna: The hardest part about eating all day is finding something you're in the mood for. ;) Some of my favorite snacks were goldfish, animal crackers and pretzels.

So far, this pg seems like it is going to be different than the first. By this time last time, I was exhausted, I couldn't stand the smell of anything and nothing sounded appetizing. Now, I've had little bursts of energy, am hungry for taco bell and everything bagels and have had only mild nausea when I go to long withtout eating. (knocking on wood) I'm only 4W1D, and the major m/s didn't start until 6 weeks with DS.

Welome to all the new moms. Seems like we've had an explosion lately! :)

GardenGirl - Sorry to hear your infection is hanging on. :( It took me a solid 5 days to feel better after I started taking the prescription. I feel totally back to my normal self now! And I had the nausea while I was sick, too, but it's gone now. Hopefully the same happens for you.

Zhanna - Love the baby pic! You are so lucky to have that! Glad everything is going well.

Welcome and Congratulations Gretchen and Kristen! :D

Thank you Robyn! I can't stop staring at the picture. :p

Julie - my username is just another (endearing) form of my first name, so - either way works for me! ;) However, I was wondering the same about others myself...

QOTD: DH and I have a vacation coming up in 2 weeks. We're supposed to be going to Mexico. The vacation was booked way in advance, and obviously - before we got the BFP. I am very worried about going - I keep thinking that it may be harmful to the baby somehow. It will be my 8th week. Would you go?

jilly

Mag-I'm bloated too. Ugh. Things are already getting too tight. Your first m/s experience sounded a lot like mine (although I didn't get 'sick' everyday just felt like crap weeks 9-15), so let's hope now that we both get lucky with easy first trimesters.

jmvan-I saw your post. Frightening. My insides have totally shifted already.

zhannushka - GO! Enjoy it! I went to Fiji preggo with DS. I was 10 weeks. Despite the fact I got seasick on a boat and felt puky every morning until noon...it was great. Much better to feel crappy in paradise than at work/home. :)

No real symptoms here yet - other than fatigue and a h-u-g-e waistline. :P

Zhanna: I would GO! If you are uncertain, you could always talk to your OB and see if s/he has any advice for you. How long is the flight? We're going to San Diego in August. I know it will be about a 7 hour flight. As for the name issue. Either works for me, too, but I feel like Julie gives a more personal feel, ykwim?

Jilly: Isn't that scary! I was expecting to show early, but not that early!

Thank you ladies for reassuring me! :) I really want to go on this vacation and I guess I just wanted to hear someone else tell me that it's OK. ;)

Sickness update - I'm feeling MUCH better today. I still sound like a man, my voice is so ugly right now. But I actually have the energy to do something. Of course that something is now taking care of my poor sick DH. And I'm de-germing my house. I gave the no visitors policy in effect because my house if full germs, I just know it.

I'll be able to go back to work on Monday and get back to normal. I'm looking forward to our appointment on Thursday.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday. I'm going to read week 7 in my "Pregnancy Week by Week" book. Yes, I know, it's one day early, but I'm excited. Guess that brings me to a good QOTD ...

QOTD - what books are you reading?

jmvan74
05-20-2006, 06:21 PM
Tera: My friend has a little girl named Terra. It's so pretty and not used very often. Glad to hear you are feeling better.

Zhanna: Hooray for good B/W. I'm so jealous of you ladies who already get to see the doc. :p

Robyn: That's my mom's name, too! She spells it with an i, though.:D

QOTD: Since this is the second time around for me, I'm not really reading much. I do review my Pregnancy Week by Week book, b/c I always loved that one. I've been playing around with The Baby Name Wizard. So fun!

Tera - Well I wasn't going to post since I didn't want to "out" you but since you did I figured I would post! :D I just want to say congrats again! :D John and I are so very excited for you guys and can't wait to meet your little one. Enjoy and treasure this time. Oh, I'm glad you are feeling better. Take care and talk to you soon! :)

I'm a little behind but I'll try to answer some of the questions...

Symptons - I haven't really had any except for getting up during the night to pee, it started really soon with DC #1 also. I was lucky and didn't have any morning sickness with #1 and am hoping it will be the same with this baby too. I am feeling like my belly is expanding already and it seems crazy since it is so early.

Books - I also have Your Pregnancy Week by Week and really enjoy reading it each week.

Congrats and Welcome to Gretchen and Kristen!

QOTD: I'm reading the Mayo Clinic guide and Girlfriends Guide. But, one of my closest friends is about 5 months ahead of me, so she is probably my best resource--thanks Sabriel!

DH is excited. We were working on an adoption from Vietnam that was a huge stretch financially, so this was a pleasant surprise. Hubby is feeling much more stable, which is good.

I am still not sleeping well at night. I am hoping it is nerves because I can't function this way for much longer! I'm also starving all the time. Anyone else having this?

GardenGirl
05-21-2006, 11:14 AM
Thanks to my friend Kopper! Brian can't keep from telling anyone so we're pretty much telling everyone. I haven't told anyone at work yet, still too early.

Starving? No way. Sick is more like it. I was thinking the nausea I've had the last couple of days was due to my infection, but I'm not thinking so anymore. Only time will tell. DH kept asking me do I want this to eat, do I want that to eat. He says, I'll may you this, I'll make you that. I just about tossed my cookies on his shoes. That's so sweet of him to want to help, but the mention of food makes me ill. Weird thing is, the ONLY thing I'm craving is a salad, like from the salad bar at Jason's. It's weird. The only thing that seems to sound good is fresh veggies. I know that's good, but DH is getting sick of salads already and I'm only 7 weeks!

I'm going to go over the my parents house and swim/relax this afternoon. I need one more good day of rest before I have to go back to work tomorrow.

Hope everyone is well.

Kristen: I'm hungry all the time, too. Unfortunately I never know what I want and then I get angry and more hungry and then nausea! LOL! Fresh fruit sounds the most appealing to me.

Tera: Swimming and relaxing sounds so nice! I'm just chillin on the couch while DS naps. Ahhhh. Quiet.

QOTD: Not really reading any books right now, since this is #2. I do read the daily update on FF, but that's about it!

Well, I threw up today for the first time. I hope it's not going to get bad this early in the pg! On the one hand, it was a good sign to me that things might be going okay, on the other hand, being/feeling sick stinks. DD and I are flying to Florida in a few days for the week (DH is gone for work), so hopefully it will go nice and smooth! We've never flown by ourselves before, so I am praying for a nice, calm, happy baby!

Again, I feel like I missed so much. I had a scare this past weekend, so I couldn't log on too much. I started spotting Friday afternoon. I was FREAKED out. I called my OB almost in tears, she told me to come in to the office. After an exam, apparantly my cervix was irritated due to sex with my DH! Everything is fine now. I actually got to do an ultrasound, three days before my schedualed u/s appointment. I got to see the sac, but the baby was too small, they couldn't find it. So frustrating. I had to get blood taken on Friday, and today. I'll get my hormone levels tomorrow when I go in for another ultrasound. Hopefully, I'll be able to see my little bug.

I have that "Your Pregnancy Week by Week" book too. I like how it is organinzed week to week, especially the first trimester, when baby is growing so much and everything is changing so fast. A month by month book doesn't seem to capture it all--I also have "What to Expect..." I do like it, but just not as well.

I am ready to just have the baby to hold in my arms. Or at least LOOK like I am pregnant, right now I just look fat. I know it's not good, but I've gained so much weight already--okay, five pounds. I think the most of it is bloating, but ugh, I feel so huge, and it's only going to get worse! I wish we could just skip that part of pregnancy. I envy you women who don't gain anything but baby--little bodies with a belly. <sigh> oh, well, the joys of motherhood, right? Sorry for ranting, I'm done for now.

QOTD, I'm with mag on this one! This is #2 so I'm not reading anything. However, I feel like I have to read about the whole toddler stage for Grace before #2 comes! So, I'm about to start The Happiest Toddler on the Block. For those 1st time mom's, I highly recommend The Happiest Baby on the Block. That book saved us sooooo many times!

Okay, so I have to get this out. I am so freaking shocked about being pregnant. I have not been on birth control since August of 2005--because I didn't have a job or insurance (for bc), and getting pregnant wouldn't be such a bad thing. FH and I never even had a scare during the 9 months we were using NOTHING. Well, for the past few weeks we have been having a rough spot, and, so, I decided to go back on birth control at my next cycle (should've started yesterday). Lo and behold, I got a BFP today. WTF?!! I am still in shock. I am scared--mostly about the financial part of it all. I will go to my ob/gyn tomorrow for confirmation and such, but damn--this is all overwhelming for me. I look forward to coming to terms with this and to going through all of this with you ladies. :p

Oh, and my EDD is from typing in the first day of my last period on babycenter.com. May change once I go to the doc.

Thanks ladies, for the warm welcome and kind words. Today, I am feeling MUCH better about things. I am actually getting excited. :p I have told my mom, sister, brother, and friends. They are thrilled. My mom is a little less thrilled than the rest, because she knows the extent of my precarious financial situation. However, I am a huge believer in "everything happens for a reason" and we will deal with it and it will be great. So, I am getting excited, and it feels great.

I went to the doctor today, and had my BFP home test confirmed with a BFP in the office. My first "official" prenatal visit complete with ultrasound will be in about 4 weeks. EDD is 1-29-07 (same as was calculated on babycenter, so yayay).

We're telling my dad tonight, and that should be interesting.

I didn't have any morning sickness with my DD, Avery Beatrice, but I am getting it this time. My stomach just is upset constantly. I am SOOOOOO tired. I actually stayed home from work today, cause I needed some time to myself and just to rest.

I'm not reading any books yet. I plan on getting FH a father-to-be type of book for Father's Day, as well as a blended family book (as DD is not his).

Happy to be here, ladies!

Amanda - I friended you on LJ too. I'm zhannushka on there as well. Like Stacey said - wherever you feel more comfortable to talk about it... We are here for you.

Gretchen - good luck with your appointment tomorrow!

I am a little worried here... When we went for the u/s last Thursday, the fetal heartbeat was 108 bpm and the tech said that it's fine for 6w1d, which is what all the measurements and betas corresponded with. However - I keep seeing others reporting their babies' heartbeat at at least 120 bpm. This makes me nervous - wouldn't 108 bpm be kinda slow?

amwilson615

Okay, so I will put it here. I just don't want to be the "drama" person of the thread. :o

A little history:

DD Avery's father is named Derick. We were together for 7 years. He is a cheating a$$hole. I was stupid and basically under his control--mentally and emotionally abused the whole time (just didn't see it then). Anyway, when i got pregnant with DD, he abandoned me, and i went through it on my own. We still talked, and he would call to check on his baby and stuff. I did have sex with him after her birth--once. No real explanation except he was my first love, i wanted to not feel alone, etc. Last time I had sex with him was in August 2003. I see him for what he is now, and would rather he not be in my life at all, but he has to be because of DD.

Fast forward to May 2004. I met James, who is an exceptional person. He has been through a lot of stuff in his past. Girls have used him, cheated on him, etc. Including a girl who cheated on him (not the first time) and got pregnant. He stood by her and was there for the birth and everything--then found out the baby wasn't his. We just celebrated our 2 year anniversary, and I have NEVER NEVER given him reason not to trust me. However, he thinks that it is okay to question my faithfulness and demand a blood test because I saw Avery's dad on May 12th for a child support modification hearing. Derick came to see Avery at my mother's house for about 20 minutes before the hearing. The whole time I was putting on my makeup and getting ready to go. Derick and I may have exchanged 10 words the entire time and been in the same room a total of 1 minute. (it was just me, him, and Avery) Anyway, so James saw that as a HUGE disrespect to him that I was in the house alone with Derick. I saw it as no big deal, given that I could allow a 20 minute visit before the hearing, or have to deal with Derick demanding a whole day AFTER the hearing. Anyway, so we had a HUGE fight about that on Mother's Day, James said he was leaving, we were over, etc. Okay, so on May 21, I find out I'm pregnant. James is excited. I ask him what he thinks his family will say. He says that his brother and his friend Mike will ask him if he's sure it's his. I said "I know you're not going to let them insult my honor like that." He did not respond.
On May 22nd, he come home and tells me that he talked to his bro adn that his bro is PISSED. I said why would he be pissed that I am pregnant. James says it's becuase of "what he's been through" and that it is funny how I "suddenly" got pregnant after derick was in town. I was shocked. I told him taht
