My sister is graduating from college in June (finally ;) ). My other sister and I are putting together a scrapbook for her so we have the sentimental part down. I need something else - practicial or a nice to have, it doesn't matter. Any suggestions? She's an art major, into animation (her dream job would be making movies like Toy Story), doesn't have a job yet, lives by herself. TIA!
Since she's not working yet you might consider a few little things she might not buy for herself. Maybe a gift certificate to a nice clothing store so she can pick up a nice interview outfit or a gift certificate to frame store so she can have her diploma framed.

If she's into animation, Im assuming she loves cartoons. How about a movie basket? You could put in her favorite movies (that she doesnt already own), some popcorn, milk duds, maybe a few movie tickets.
Other ideas....spa certificate or something to put her artwork in (a nice protfolio).

I was just thinking of maybe a nice cell. My parents used to collect them, and that would be perfect for her if she is into animation. You can go as crazy as you want in terms of framing ect.

Membership in some group or organization she likes so that she has a place to socialize now that she no longer can identify as a student. It could be a gym or sports club or a church group or a professional organization. A place to meet people and get involved.

You could also get her something nice for interviews - like a nice necklace or watch. Maybe not too incredibly practical, but it's something that will be noticed at job interviews.

These are all great ideas! Now, what to pick, what to pick? :)

DHs cousin graduated from college and her party is this weekend. As some background on her:
She already has a job lined up and ready to go.
She has no student loan debt (I mention this b/c someone asked me irl when I asked if she had any ideas?)
Her 2003 car is completely paid off (same person as above asked?)
She just got engaged last week to her bf of three years. She'll be moving in with him (he owns his own house).
So, any ideas?
Of course, there's always cash, but I feel like that's always such a blah gift and usually only give cash for a wedding (showers I prefer gifts as well).
Then I had the thought of a gift card, but again - it's almost like cash in that respect. I thought a gift card to BB&B might be nice though, as I'm sure there are plenty of things she might like to buy to make his home a bit more like "their" home.
So, any ideas? I really do prefer to give gifts, because I feel like there is more thought put into said gifts.

You said she has a job lined up and ready to go - how about a gift card to a leather type shop so she can pick up a new briefcase or purse or nice day planner? Or, depending on where her job is, gift cards to local restaurants for lunch?
That's all I got... :o

How about something with both their names on it for the new place (well not new but new in the sense that she is moving in). Something like a letter/bill holder... or maybe that's too wedding gift-y?
I got my sister a GC for a his-her massage for xmas a couple years ago. I just googled it... basically it's a GC that can be used all over the US at participating massage places. You can choose the denomination you want and they can make up the rest if they want to spend more.
