Hello and welcome to our new thread. In just a few short weeks our little ones will begin celebrating their first birthdays! We've all learned a lot this past year. Our little ones went from being newborns to being able to sit on their own, crawl, and walk.

I've noticed Shylah start mocking me! It's been sooooooooooooo cute!! The other morning while I was removing polish/repainting my toenails. She kept lifting her foot up as if to say "put some on my feet". Then that afternoon, I blew my nose and then she started sniffing. LOL!

Glad everyone likes the new thread. I think my allergies have kicked in full force.
Anyone know anything about Paint Shop Pro (or know someone that does)? I'm working on DD's birthday invites and I'm trying to figure out a couple of things. Guess I should have made a point to learn it before DD was born.

Meri~Haven't ever used PSP. I did DD's invite in Word. Then copied and pasted it into Adobe Elements. I'll be dropping them off at Walmart's photo center to get them printed this weekend. :) Hope the allergies get better!
How much in advance did/are you sending invites out for DC's birthday?

Invitations
I was just thinking about this over the weekend. I really need to get them dropped off to Swoozies this weekend for printing. Hopefully, they can have them returned to us in a few days, as I'd really like to have them mailed out a month before the big day.

liz I'm a perfectionist, that's what's wrong! ;) I think I want DD's face (a circle) in the center of a flower. I can't figure out how to do that in publisher! AHHHH! Thanks for the compliment. I liked them fine until someone said that in would look cute with just her head in the center. Now I don't like my original ones. sigh..

Natrat-I liked the invites too. I think that one "helpful" comment threw you. I think they are adorable the way they are and I can't believe you are stressing because someone said you can't have Addie's hand on a petal. Do them up the way you have them and they will be absolutely adorable. :)

We also have a DD Brooke 8-22-03. Both Brooke and Kasey were two weeks late and I was induced with both!
I just finished addressing and stuffing Kasey's invitations. Sealed all the envelopes and realized I forgot to add a note to everyone mentioning the time capsule we are doing for Kasey. I guess I'll have to email/call everyone. We did one for Brooke too and it turned out great so I want to do the same for him.

Birthday ~ I just ordered my invitations today. I am hoping to mail them out on Monday as well (okay, maybe Tuesday ;) ). I'm hoping to order my plates, etc, later today after we finalize our guest list. We decided to move our party up to 11 am and include a cook-out lunch b/c we will be leaving for a family beach trip that afternoon. I was concerned how late some guests might linger if we didn't start until 3 pm.
Natalie ~ Your invitations are too darling! I would definitely use them! The little poem is so cute. I think you did a wonderful job!
Welcome, Renee!
Well, it's official: both the baby and I have colds. If she feels as miserable as I do, then we're sunk. My sinuses and Eustachian tubes are soo stuffed up- ugh. Two babies in her class are out sick today so maybe that is where we caught this from.

I hope we'll have our invitations back from the printer tomorrow for our May 28th party. We paid $10 extra for a rush order. :o Obviously, we didn't get on this early enough, but since it's just the relatives' party, mom my told everyone the details in advance anyway, so it's not a big deal that the invites won't go out a month before.

Naamah ~ Thanks for getting the updates done.
I'm typing one handed right now because my shoulder got an injection today. I will be going for PT for a while in hopes of it getting better. If not I'm probably looking at surgery. I also have wrist splints for both of my wrists because of the severity of the carpal tunnel.
Can I re-join? I lost the old thread somewhere and was too intimidated to try to catch up.
For DS's birthday we are going to do a family party on a Sunday afternoon. We are still trying to decide between late morning or late afternoon. If he would nap regularly maybe I could make a decision
Nat - Adorable invites!

Thanks everyone for your comments about the invitation. I know its something that people will throw away, but I just wanted it to be perfect!
mrs.chappy a baby einstein theme will be so cute!
Meri Crossing my fingers that the injection does the trick.
spps Welcome back...I recently rejoined too! ;)
dreshny You've still got lots of time! It's good to know that people already have the date saved in their mind though. I cleared out party date with my family and DH's family so they wouldn't plan anything else!
maggie Sorry about the colds. Hope its over soon!
QOTDAre you all letting your kiddo have a smash cake? Are you making it or having it made?
-I'm thinking of making a semi-healthy cake for DD to smash, eat, and generally make a mess with! I found a recipe at wholesomebabyfood.com I have serious sugar/chocolate addiction and I know it sounds funny, but I just want to delay introducing DD to tons of sugar. She'll never know what she's missing right??

Invitations~I dropped mine off for one hour development (yes, I just printed them as photos), and they don't look too shabby at all! The only thing is we were in a hurry getting out the door, and I forgot to count how many invites I needed! :o I just printed up 10, so hopefully that will cover things and give me one for her scrapbook!
Welcome, Racerswife!
Julie~Glad Collin finally went to sleep for you!
Kelsey~Hope you two get to feeling better soon!
Nat~Cute invite!!
Meri~No problem! Ack! Hope your shoulder heals on its own!
QOTD~I'm going to attempt to make the cake. I found this pic and photoshopped it to the colors I wanted to use:

The smaller "gift" will be hers. While I don't want her turning into a sugarholic, I figure her birthday is okay to let her have a treat, but then it's back to strict sugar-nazi mommy! ;)
Just got back from BIL's spring music concert and got DD to bed. We'll be heading up before too long since we are up until 2am last night between computer and work issues!

Thanks for updating, Naamah!
Maggie,
Oh no! I hope you and Ava feel better soon. Looks like we're both laid up with sick babies.
Nat,
You did such a great job! I love how they turned out. The poem is so adorable!!
Meri,
Bless your heart! Hopefully the PT will work out so you don't have to undergo surgery.
Welcome back, spps! I'm right there with you. I have not quite settled on a time for the party as DD's nap is still pretty eratic. I'm thinking maybe Noon.
QOTD- Cake
Even though I'm pretty strict on sugar, I figure it's her birthday...why not? It's going to be her first taste of cake. I'm of the camp where I feel that you should offer sweets from time to time. I know when I deprive myself of something, the longer I go without it, the more likely I'll go crazy with it once it's actually made available to me. I'm still undecided on the cake, but have narrowed it down to 2:
This one, less tha Glam Girl Stuff:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g177/lizardfurlong/GlamGirlCake.jpg
But leaning more towards this one if I can get them to change the colors to a pink/green scheme:

QOTD: Smash Cake
I come from the Everything In Moderation camp, so I figure a little cake on his bday is fine. Besides, its more of a photo op than anything, since I am positive more will end up on his head and the floor than in his mouth. :p And it'll be after he gets served his usual super-healthy lunch, so there won't be too much room left in there anyway...
As for me? I am totally eating cake! Lol!

Thanks for getting the updates done, Naamah! I saw that cake you posted in the cake decorating thread. I absolutely love it!! I don't know anything about fondont. I've only taken course 1 of the Wilton classes. I've heard it's not too hard, though. I would do a mini-practice cake first. ;)
Maggie: Sorry to hear that you and Ava aren't feeling well. We can relate over here. After a week of pure horror, things are finally back to normal in our house. Smiley baby and all. ;)
MerI: *HUGS* I honestly think your life could be a Lifetime movie. I guess the saying "When it rains, it pours" applies to you. I'll be thinking of you and hope that you are feeling better soon.
Welcome back Spps!
Nat, the invites are adorable. So creative.
Liz, Those cakes are so much fun!
QOTD: I thought about making a nice, healthy cake, but then I changed my mind. A little sugar is not going to ruin is eating habits for life, ya know. I know DH and I both have a severe sweet tooth, so we need to adjust our habits in the long run to keep DS a healthy eater. JMO. :p
Cake: Okay, I'm just going to hash out an idea here, so tell me what you think....
I'm making DS' cake. I was going to do a sheet cake for everyone with an island theme, ya know, island, palm tree, water (all frosting) and then make a smash cake in the shape of a turtle for DS. However, after looking at the cakes that Naamah and Liz posted I'm thinking... instead of making a separate cake, making a small "loaf" cake in the shape of a treasure chest and putting it on the sheet cake... What do you think? Turtle or treasure chest?
LIZNKEITH

Julie,
I vote treasure chest. Either way you go, it's going to be adorable! i can't wait to see how the cake turns out.

Cake: I'm a little worried about this. I wanted to keep Asher away from sugar, but my mother (who oddly, is a health freak and super-skinny) has been trying to sneak sweets into him since he was 5 months old (well, she wanted to give him a taste of jam on her finger when he was 5 months.) When he was 10 months, she gave him oatmeal with brown sugar and frozen yogurt against my wishes. And I myself (okay, I admit it, I'm also a sugar-obsessed health freak) have given him ice cream a couple of times, once nearly a whole scoop.
But cake? It's going to be a cake-heavy week, I'm afraid. My mom insists he get a cupcake or a slice of cake at his family party on May 28th. Then our friend Kim is having a "birthday week" playgroup with cupcakes on May 30th. His actual birthday is May 31st. Then Kim's Thomas's party on June 3rd (he doesn't need cake at this party.) Then another party for Asher with his friends on June 4th. That's five cake occasions in one week!
So I figure, no cake for Asher at Thomas's party. That's obvious. I guess no cake on his real birthday, either, or maybe a healthy cake. Do I deny him his cupcake (or just the frosting) at Kim's playgroup? And should I keep the cake away from him at his second birthday party (or again, just the frosting?) Aaaargh!!
kelseyledare
05-05-2006, 08:49 AM
Second the treasure chest idea... too cute!
ETA: Roseanne: How much do you think he'll actually eat? Ava's been a "guest" at some 1st b-day parties at daycare, and she's received cupcake each time without frosting. You could give half without frosting if you're worried.
LIZNKEITH
05-05-2006, 08:49 AM
Dreshny,
Yeah, I would chose 1 party (for me, it would be the family party) to give him cake. Maybe you could make some banana nut muffins or something that he can have (okay, still not healthy, but healthier) at his play group parties?
Dreshny
05-05-2006, 09:05 AM
That's true, he probably won't eat much cake, especially if I don't feed it to him in little pieces. I've given him tastes of cake before because he's gotten so insistent about it, and it's hard to hide food from your baby when he's always in a carrier. If he sees me eating something, he wants it and cries for more. (I'm talking anything--he once drank a good amount of unsweetened iced herbal tea just because I was drinking it.) If I let him self-feed, though, I doubt he'll eat much. But I just know he'll see cake being eaten and want it.

cake I am making Dougie cakes myself. I am making one just for him and am going to make it with less sugar, using apple sauce in the batter and then I am trying to find a sugar-free frosting. Then I am making lion cupcakes for everyone else with full sugar!
Since we are having Dougie b-day at the zoo I am going to make this cake

Yup, I could have a dog crap muffin in front of me and Alexa would want some. ;) I'm planning on doing some sort of mini-angel food cake and topping it with a thin layer of whipped cream mixed with pudding. It's really just for effect and a photo op and I know Alexa won't eat that much anyway.
Cute cake Ferris. I love the zoo idea. We had out wedding reception at the New York Aquarium. :D

LIZ~Both of the cakes are adorable!
Kim~As for me? I am totally eating cake! Lol! Of course! ;)
Julie~Yep! I'll probably be baking cakes from now until June! :p I found a stiffer buttercream recipe that sounds easy to do and supposedly produces the same smooth effect as fondant, so I may try that and use the fondant for the bows. Love the treasure chest idea!
Dreshny~I would scrape the icing off the cake at least at his family party and actual birthday, but I would probably take muffins or another option for the other parties. If he sees me eating something, he wants it and cries for more. Ugh! Shylah is the same way! It does me no good to feed her before we eat dinner these days.
Ferris~Cute cake!!!

That is so cool that you had your reception at an aquarium! DH would of loved that. If it were up to him, half our house would be made up of fish tanks.
Ferris; Great cake. MMMM....all of this cake talk is making me want some. I think I'll make cupcakes tonight.;)
Roseanne: Good luck deciding what cake he can have....That is a lot of cake in one week. :p
Naamah: Have fun practicing Shylah's cake! I need to buy some different cake pans and some new decorating tips and get practicing, too.
Kim, I'll be eating cake, too! Mmmmm. Maybe you could make Thomas a cheescake! :D

Kim, I'll be eating cake, too! Mmmmm. Maybe you could make Thomas a cheescake! :D
Mmmmmm....cheeeeesecake......
Hm. dreshny makes a very good point! At my "cupcake" playgroup, I was going to get the tiny ones Whole Foods makes that are all organic and as healthy as a cupcake can get (they are one-bite size). I got these for a friend, and we all just let our babies have a small bite of the cake part itself, no frosting, in honor of the bday baby.
But I could always make healthier muffins instead, like whole grain carrot muffins with optional cream cheese "frosting". This way its not so cakey. Does it really matter, or am I over thinking this? They are mostly for the moms and a photo op with the kids.
Though I must say, if it were 5 cake opportunities in one week for *me* I'd be all over it. :D But then again, I am a sweet-toothed health food nut. Its my only vice. (other than lipgloss, of course)
jmvan
So its green turtle frosting all over DS or brown chest frosting all over DS, right? ;) Treasure chest may be easier to make, and sounds pretty cool to me.

Nat, I love the invites for Addie. The wording and theme is perfect! I'd "borrow" it if I thought my DS would appreciate it, but everytime we stop to smell the roses he wrinkles up his nose.
Meri, hope the treatment for your shoulder goes well. Back to one handed typing, eh...reminds me of when DS was little and I would try to type while holding him...really a very useful skill. I recently learned that stretching out the pectoral muscle can help treat and prevent carpal tunnel. This may already be something that those who have had to deal with CTS already know, but it was news to me. Here's an interesting link on exercises to treat CTS (http://www.ehealthmd.com/library/carpaltunnel/CT_prevention.html)
Liz, both those cakes are adorable. I like the simplicity of the rectangles, but the idea of having cupcakes as part of it for Caroline's smash cake (not sure if that is what you would do or not though)
jmvan, ita with you that DC's eating habits are more likely to be shaped by the eating habits we have as parents than an occasional treat like birthday cake. It's something I keep trying to get better about but I've not been as successful with that as I'd like. Tough decision between the turtle and the treasure chest...would Colin have a preference (love of turtles, etc)?
Ferris, I love the idea of having the party at the zoo. I really want to take DS to the zoo one of these weekends coming up...DH and I went to the zoo for our 1st date. Maybe we'll do that the weekend before DS birthday when my mom is in town. We are going to have his birthday party the following weekend when MIL is in town so I'd like to do something special when my mom is here.

cake I think I'm still going to make the "healthy" cake. It still has sugar and will definitely be a big change for her. I also have a recipe for cream cheese frosting that will be good.
so we need to adjust our habits in the long run to keep DS a healthy eater.
great point Julie. I think that's what we need to do too.
ferris I love the monkey cake-Martha Stewart right? I saw her make it on the show this week and thought it was so cute.
Addie is crying so I'll have to update later, but I have to say Addie pooped in the potty today! We've been using it for about a month now and she almost always pees on it, but this is the first poop. How sick am I that I'm excited about it!

CAKE: totally ordering it from the bakery..and eating it
Bad mommy: Ben totally fell backward down 2 or 3 stairs..well, we just figured out he knows how to climb them..can't leave him in the basement w/o a gate at the bottom of the steps. i was walking down to get him and saw him climbing..he looked at me..sat straight up onthe step and then tumbled backward..i freaked..screamed. DH assured me we didn't need to go the the ER. Meanwhile i am a nervous wreck...Ben is fine...laughing..puling himself up, cruising..was crying b/c i was. Anyway, i'm totally going to make sure he is breathing all night.

I am soooooooo tired! Why why why why why why why....
Kim - I can totally commiserate. DS had been waking between 6:30 and 7 for the longest time but for the past week it has been between 5 and 5:30. When he wakes there is NO getting him back to sleep.
Nat - congrats to Addie!
Does anyone else have a DC with eczema? Over the last few days DS has developed eczema mostly on his face. We think it is a reaction to sunscreen. The ped told us to keep the skin mosturized to help it go away, but DS keeps rubbing his face and is only making it worse. Anyone have any suggesitons on how to keep his hands away from his face? We have tried those newborns mittens, the ones that keep them from scratching, but they are just too small and uncomfortable on him.

ezcema..yes..DS gets it..we have been using VaniCream..available at specialty pharmacies (not CVS), Since he uses it he rarely get the breakouts. We slather it on him every nite after the bath.

Does anyone else have a DC with eczema?
Yep!
We have been doing the avoidance dance since he was a couple months old, and it has been under control really well. Here's the routine, in case you are interested:
Avoidance:
- No soapy baths, clean water only. If dirty, put touch of soap on washcloth to clean then rinse
- Eucerine lotion only, Aquaphor or Vaseline on rash-prone areas
- 100% cotton clothes only
Clear Up Breakout
- No soap at all in bath
- Wipe down with cooled chamomile tea on a cotton ball after bath
- Add fresh aloe (Target sells the plants) to Eucerine Original Lotion and lube baby 2x a day
- 100% cotton clothes & blankets & sheets only
As for avoiding face touching...I can't think of anything except to lessen irritation by keeping h is nails filed all the way down and wash his hands with mild soap thru the day so nothing is on them to rub into his face.

05-08-2006, 07:39 AM
Kim, Yeah, I guess it's a frosting color decision! He'll be eating his cake in a diaper, so I'm not worried about his clothes. :p I'm still not sure what I'll be making.
Sorry that Thomas is waking up at the butt crack of dawn. Ugghh. I'm exhausted and I've been getting up at 7am, so I know you've got it bad. :(
Hedgegirl: We are working on our eating habits in our house. It's tough. I love junk food. :o It has gotten better, but some things I just can't phase out...like chocolate and icecream. We have switched to light ice cream and I eat more dark chocolate than milk chocolate, so that's a start right?
Nat: Hooray for Addie! I'm thinking about getting started potty training with Collin, but I'm really intimidated by it.
MrsChappy: Awww. Poor Ben. Accidents happen. I'm glad he's fine. I know I get more upset than Collin when I see him hit his head or something and I have to be really conscious of my reaction. I can totally understand why you would scream! I would have, too. :o A bakery cake sounds yummy, too. Maybe I'll just make Collin's smash cake and have a bakery make the sheet cake...hmmmmm
eczema: We're starting another outbreak here, too. We use cetaphil in the bathtub for washing ( I do use a little soap, if it's been a particular dirty day...playing in the grass and dirt, etc., but very small amt.) Then we lather on Aveeno (just the adult stuff) unscented lotion 2X's a day.
Weaning: Well, ladies.....it's official....I am no longer nursing! I was going to try and get to a year, but Collin really had no interest anymore. I weaned him from his night feeding 2 weeks ago. That was emotional for me b/c that was our cuddle time. Then Saturday morning he slept until 7am  , So I just got him up, changed his diaper and fed him breakfast (with a sippy of formula) and he didn't even miss the nursing, so we went with it. I was so sore yesterday and am a little tender today, so hopefully, my bb's will feel better by tomorrow. I'm going to buy some cabbage today to help soothe the achiness.

Thanks Ally! Collin's exczema has always been really blotchy. It looks like dry skin patches. Has Aiden had anything rubbing against his neck that would cause a heat rash or did you use anything different on his clothes that would cause a reaction? Does he seem bothered by it?

Kim~Sorry about the super early wakings. I wonder if it has anything to do with the seasons changing?
Eczema~DD doesn't have it, but she'll occasionally get a really dry patch of skin out of know where. We usually just put a little baby oil on it (never been on her face), but I'm not sure what to do about the face area - maybe olive oil?
Julie~Congrats on weaning!
Ally~DD will occasionally get a heat rash. When that happens, I'll usually give her some diaper-only time. This both cools her off and gets rid of the clothes rubbing up against the rash.
We are having the sleep issues too over here, but I think ours is more due to the weather. :( It has rained for several days in a row, which has been much needed, but I would give anything to have a really sunny absolutely gorgeous day in the middle of it all!! It's really been getting to DH and I to the point of us having a fight in front of DD. She just sat there stunned for about 10 minutes after it was over. Poor girl! :(

Hedge,
Thanks! The bakery provides us with a smash cake either way, but if I were to go with the cake with the cupcakes, I’d probably forgo it.
Congratulations, Addie! Man, won’t it be a great day when you won’t have to use diapers anymore?
Julie,
Congratulations on weaning!! How far you’ve come since just a few short months ago when you couldn’t even get Collin to take a bottle. I’m so proud of you! You’ve done a great job, Mommy!
Naamah,
Sorry about the weather. Rainy weather always adds to my stress as well. Hopefully you’ll get a sunny day soon. Sorry about the fight with DH. Poor little Shylah. :(
Sleep Issues
God help us!! For 3 nights now Caroline has been waking up in the middle of the night wanting to play. For the life of us, we cannot get her back down. Last night, she woke up at 2:00 and stayed up until about 3:30. Not cool when DH and I both get up for work at 5:30. Not cool at all. Please tell me that this is a passing phase? Like one that will pass tonight…

Thomas had heat rash as well.
On him it looked and felt like goose pimples all over him. Most were flesh tone, but some were a little pink.
The not-too-hot baths, 100% cotton clothes, diaper-only time and no soap helped him, as well as only using a little of the Eucerine Original lotion on it - no heavy creams or ointments like Aquaphor or baby oil.

Congrats! Its been 1 1/2 months since I weaned, and we're both doing great. At times I even think "OMG I can't believe I fed my kid from my boobs! Wierd!", lol. When you're in it you're so in it, and when you are done you are so done. Great job!!

I just don't know whats making DS wake up so early. Today it was FOUR A.M.!!! I gave him 4oz and put him back to bed, then went upstairs to sleep on the folding couch so if he got up early I wouldn't hear him so I oculd catch some verrry-much-needed zzzzz's. DH told me to skip my Strollercize today and rest during DS's naps, he is so worried about my exhaustion. It really does get to you!
Some guesses: growth spurt, teething, preparing for a change of 2 naps to one. Or maybe a combo of all 3?? I don't know: I am too damn tired to figure it out.

Bad news but just because I'm a DRAMA QUEEN-I feel awful. Nauseated beyond belief and tired all the time. I don't know how I can get through 19 weeks of work like this(that's how long it took me last time to get through the first round of M/S). I honestly want to cry sometimes at how miserable I feel. All I want to do is go to bed when i get home but then I feel like I am missing time with Alexa so I go play with her but I'm worthless. Boo hoo for me. Pity party for myself.
Good news-I saw the heartbeat today. A solid little "blip-blip-blip". Yes I feel awful but life is good. :D

Naamah: Sorry about the weather and the fight. I'm sure Shylah won't even remember it. ;) When there is a lot of rain it always makes me feel ick, too. I hope you had a nice walk.
Aww shucks, Liz. I do feel proud. :) Is Caroline learning a new skill? When Collin was first crawling/cruising he would wake up at night and be up for 2 hours. I would always find him standing up and cruising the crib. Practice makes perfect, even when it makes very tired parents.
LOL!Kim I also can't beleive my boobs fed my kid! It's so surreal. I hope Thomas gets back to sleeping. It's so hard to figure out what is going on with these little people.
Shame on you Sophia! You made my heart sink when I saw bad news in bold letters! I'm so sorry you are feeling so crappy. This is my biggest fear about being pg again. I'm sure Alexa is happy just to have you close by, even if you aren't making the best playmate right now. Besides, you're working on giving her a life time playmate. ;) Hooray for the heartbeat!
Ally: I second or third the diaper time to help with the rash.
Eczema - Thanks for all the ideas. We have been bathing DS daily with no soap, wearing only 100% cotton, and using Aquaphor on his face. I like the Aquaphor b/c it doesn't come off completely when he tries to rub it off. When I came home from work today he looked much better so I hope his face will be totally clear by the end of the week.
jmvan - congrats on the weaning. I can't wait until I can stop pumping at work already. It must be great to be free of the pump.
sophiapb - Hope the MS goes away quicker this time. Maybe it will be better b/c this is just a singleton pregnancy. I have a friend IRL who had horribly debilitating MS with #1, and while she got sick with #2 also it wasn't nearly as bad so there is hope.
Sleep issues – Having them here too. DS is up at these days between 4:30 and 5:30. If I nurse him and then continue to hold him he will stay asleep until 6:30, otherwise he is awake and raring to go. Though, this morning I made DH hold him because I was just exhausted.

:( So sorry to hear about the m/s. Can you take anything?? You had hyperemesis (sp?) before, right? There has to be something to help...
This doesn't mean that 5/30 is off is it? Can you bake while nauseous?? :o
Eczema
I forgot to mention why the aloe in the Eucerine: aloe is a natural hydrocortisone with no side effects. You can use it 2x a day with no worries, and it clears up rashes in no time.
Kim - I was considering putting Eucerin on DS for his eczema but I saw that it had this big warning on it about containing alpha hydroxy. Apparently, alpha hydroxy makes the skin even more prone to sunburn so I refrained from using it on DS.
Birthday Cake - We just recieved a coupon in the mail from Pathmark for a free mini carvel ice cream cake for DS's birthday. Now, I don;t know that DS will be allowed to indulge but I think DH and I certainly will.

Shame on you Sophia! You made my heart sink when I saw bad news in bold letters!
Yeah, I'm a dork. I don't know why I didn't think that people might think that something was really wrong when posting that. Sorry. Going to fix it right now.
Hey Kim. No I'm not going to take anything because last time I took antibitoics and Zofran a few times during the first trimester and that was always in the back of my mind when Alexander's cord problems developed. This time I am taking nothing stronger than hot tea and bagels with cream cheese (sounds so disgusting when I order it but I feel so much better after eating it). Trust me, I will be raring to go May 30, crumbly coffee cake and all. Can you PM me with the time and address?
Hi spps. I was really hoping that this time would be different but nope, same dry heaving, same gagging while brushing my teeth, same "hung over" feeling and same chills. Honestly, after I had Alexa I swore that everything I went through was worth it just to have her and I think about that whenever my stomach lurches at the thought of barbeque or whatever trigger is working for me that day. The end result is sooooo worth it so I suck it up and keep going. One day at a time.

spps: It feels good to be free. I haven't actually pumped in months. Collin never took a bottle! So when I say I'm free....I really mean it! LOL! He did start to get good with a sippy about a month ago and I just started giving him formula (cold like milk) in it. He refused to drink warm formula.
Kim: I am amazed at the Cabbage! It got rid of my engorgement in just a few hours. I'm still very tender, but no more hard spots. Magic, I tell you , Magic!
Sophia, I was very relieved that the bad news, was not the worst news. A bagel with cream cheese and tea sound lovely to me. :o
Ally: Hooray for pulling up! Go Aiden!

I see, and totally understand.
When I was TTC I had this huuuuuuge list of remedies for m/s that I kept on my night table for when the time arrived. As soon as I got the + I pulled that bad boy out! lol If you are interested, I can find it and let you know what worked for me...though I am sure you've tried all the natural stuff at this point. (and no, cream cheese would be the last thing on that list! Lol - gag reflex anyone? ;) )

Invitations
I'm trying to get them printed - having difficulty. May take a disk to Kinkos or Staples for printing and cutting. I think I'll send them out 3 weeks in advance. I have too many people on my list and (I know this is going to sound horrible) but I hope some of them won't be able to make it... So 3 weeks is all they get.
Looks like several of us are having June 11th parties!!!
Cake
I'm going to work on that this Thursday. I'm not baking. I'm going to order from a bakery. Not sure how I'm going to work out the smash cake. I may do a smash cake on her actual birthday - I don't want her to get all messy in her dress at the party. We're having it at a restaurant and I'd like her to stay in the dress for the party.
Eczema
Jessie has it too - on her calves. The Dr. gave us a prescription. I hope it helps.
New Problem
About a month ago - I saw blood in Jessie’s diaper. It was not coming from her back side. I freaked! Called the emergency line at the Ped and he had me bring her in the next day. He examined her and collected a urine sample. It came back negative for a UTI and the Ped. said it was nothing to worry about but to call if it happened again (duh). Well - it did - last week. Again I took her right to the Ped. - they got a urine sample and sent it to a lab for more testing. If it comes back negative they want her to have an ultrasound. I'm really worried.

~sadly shaking head~ Oh Ally, I thought I knew ya but at least you are in the cream cheese camp! :D
Hey Jessiesmama-Have you changed to a different brand of diaper or wipe? As scary as blood in the diaper is, I'm wondering if it's something as simple as a reaction to a different wipe or diaper. Hopefully is something minor and easy like no more lavender scented bath gel during her baths or whatever.

jessiesmama Have you checked to make sure she doesn't have a diaper rash. This happened to us once when Addie was tiny and I freaked out and took her to the ped. She check her bootie area and sure enough she had a rash that was bleeding. Hope it's nothing!
cream cheese I try to like it but it really grosses me out. Sorry Sophia!

sophia I'm sorry that you are feeling crappy....hope it goes away faster this pg.
tmi alert re: AF Okay, I spoke too soon 2 weeks ago about not having AF back. She is back with a vengence. I've been lightheaded, had horrible headaches and have been though TONS of tampons. Ugh...Evil AF! She's really got a hold of you, huh? Yes, the first AF was horrible, but each one got a little better. Hope you feel better and send her packing soon.
Sophia,
They're my favorite too. Are you serious? You don't have them up there? You are in the bagel capitol of the world. Seems unholy that we should have them here and you do not. LOL!
Sleep Issues
Still ongoing. She was up three times last night before we finally brought her in to bed with us. After 10 minutes of laying in bed, the little dove finally drifted off. I'm really thinking it's separation anxiety. Funny thing though, she goes off to bed no problem. It's just in the middle of the night.

liz Caroline is such a cutie!! You are brave with the self feeding. I haven't let Addie do that yet! I've got to get some of the plastic spoons and forks for her so she can try it out! Glad to know AF gets better. Yeah, I spotted for 3 days and I'm on day 3 of horrible AF!!
sophia Thanks for responding. I'm just praying they aren't all this bad!
water baby We went to our niece's first bday party Saturday at an indoor pool. It was Addie's first time in the pool. She LOVED it! She had so much fun splashing, kicking, and watching the big kids go down the slide. Since it was indoor, it echoed and she LOVES to hear herself scream so she did that a lot too! Here are a few pics:

Nat,
Ahh! I was just going to comment on the 'do. It looks great! I love it!! LOL, the self feeding is not “bravery” on my part. I noticed over the past several days that she won’t eat dinner. I thought it was because she was just too tired after daycare. But yesterday, I noticed her grabbing for the bowl, so I decided to give it a try. She ate a jar and a half of food!! Well, probably a half jar was on the tray, in her hair, etc. LOL! That's so cute about Addie in the pool. I love the pics! Caroline was not sure of the pool at first, but she loved it after a few minutes of me holding her close.

Good heavens, Natalie has boobage! Love the haircut btw. Cute photos.
Yeah, Liz. I suspect an asiago bagel is a bastardization of an authentic bagel and frowned on here. Like when I try to order pineapple and Canadian bacon pizza at the Ray's down the street and Brooklyn Tony behind the counter rolls his eyes. Ah well, thank goodness for nation-wide chains like Au Bon Pain. They take care of my asiago bagel jones! :D
Look at your stair climber! She's a genius, I tell ya, a genius! I must say, you were brave to let Caroline self-feed with something orange. I usually let Alexa do it with pears, applesauce or yogurt. Basically anything "white" that is non-staining then I just let her go to town.

Thanks ladies! The Ped doesn't want her to go for the ultrasound until the urine labs are back. We haven't used new diapers or wipes and she has no rash, cuts or fissures. She's been checked twice by the Ped and that's the first thing they looked for. She has had terrible diarrhea for about 2 weeks - 3-4 poopie diapers a day. But she is teething and has had a cold. My poor girl. I hope this can be figured out soon.

Sophia,
"The bastardization..." ROTFL! Hey, if it's good, how can it be wrong? Yes, my daughter is a prodigy. I am quite taken by her intellectual skills. Of course, she gets the brains from me. ;) Trust me, the self feeding was an impromptu session. The jar was already opened, she just wouldn't take it from me. I would like for you to see me as a courageous person, but alas I am not!
Jodie,
I am so sorry that you are having to go through this. Whe do they anticipate the rest of her labs coming back? This waiting must be driving you nuts. :(Like the others have said, hopefully it will be something minor. In the meantime, Jessie is in our prayers. (((HUGS)))

My favorite: fresh local cinnamon-raisin bagels toasted with a touch of butter.
My absolute favorite: fresh local cinnamon-raisin bagels grilled with butter then topped with peanut butter so its all melty and drippy when you eat it. Mmmmmmmmmmm......:D
(so keep your cream cheese talk outta here....BLECH!)

Oh geez, I am sorry - how scary! Definitely let us know what's going on...hope its something that can be nipped in the bud asap.
I hear ya on the invitations! I am so bad: my good friend just said she can't come, and in my mind I was like "whew! maybe we will be able to fit everyone...?" :o
natrat
I was throwing myself on the floor at intervals during my first 2 AFs declaring that I was bleeding to death and to keep 911 on speed dial since I was quite concerned that my uterus was about to fall out. So yeah, you can say it was bad at first. :p
Sleep
Knock on wood cross your fingers and pretend I am not really saying it, however Thomas slept from 8pm to 7am last night, with only 1 wake that took me about 5 seconds to get him back down from. Let's hope we can have a reenactment of that tonight and I *promise* to go to bed early so I can enjoy the rest!

Nat: Beautiful pics! I noticed the hair cut right away. Very cute. Sorry AF has been rough on you. I don't think I can really give advice because she was nasty to me before I was pg and she still gives me heck.
Kim,Best of luck tonight. I can't beleive we have KIDS either. It's crazy. Weren't we all just pg? That peanut butter bagel sounds yummy, too. I also like them with butter and strawberry jelly. I'll eat a bagel any which way!
Ally: I only have a few invites that I actually need to mail, but they are still sitting on my kitchen counter...stamped and everything. :o
Sophia: I've never had pinapple and canadian bacon pizza....it sounds yummy! I just ate dinner and now I want some pizza and bagels. The two things I miss most about being a New Yorker. *sigh*
This thread really moved today -- no wonder I got left behind last time;)
Ooooh bagels and cream cheese! Cinamon raisin bagels with plain cream cheese or onion bagels with vegetable cream cheese are the best. I totally don't understand how people can eat cinamon raisin anything with butter (sorry kim)

Do you have a friend or family member close by that would let you use thier printer if you pay for the ink?

I'm afraid to ask but what is vegetable cream cheese?
I got you covered, Texas girl!
Veggie cream cheese is regular cream cheese with chopped veggies mixed in. usually it's finely minced carrots and chives and then I've also had peppers and cucumbers included. It gives the sandwich a fresh flavor and makes you feel less guilty about eating a huge bagel slathered with cream cheese since it has "healthy veggies" in it. ;) I think it's also the perfect cream cheese to have on an onion bagel with sliced ham. Mmmmmmmmm!

Oh. My. God. An onion bagel with lemon juice, cream cheese, capers, sliced onion and tomatoes and then topped with lox or smoked salmon is my idea of bliss. Natrat, lox is salt-cured salmon, like how ham is salt and smoke cured pork (although given your dislike of pork that might not be a good comparison). Lox and smoked salmon are served as slices although it is chopped up when put in a cream cheese spread.
I actually threw up this morning so I can't believe that I am here talking about smoked salmon and cream cheese. Weird.
Liz, you can't eat half a bagel? This from the girl who only consumed 8 chips with salsa when out at a Mexican restaurant? You must have massive willpower to pull that off!

Nat,
Salad without dressing? You are a freak! :p J/K!!
Sophia,
I can't help it, I'm powerless to bagels. Chips are one thing, a soft doughy bagel is a totally different story. Yum!

Nat: Veggie cream cheese sounded nasty to me at first, but it really is quite yummy. As for salad with no dressing.....I do that a lot, too. Or I uses such a minimal amt it's barely worth the effort. I always ask for it on the side b/c I can not stand a soggy salad. I hate to touch raw chicken. Ickk.
Liz: Yeah, I have trouble eating half, too.
Sophia: That onion bagel was sounding tasty until you got to the Lox. Way back in my High School days, my friend and I use to sneak out for lunch and go to the bagel place for chicken salad on multi-grain or everything bagels. Then of course, we'd stop at McDonalds for fries. :o

Nat: Okay, I am with you and Julie on the light salad dressing. I always order mine on the side, but do want a little bit. Second the yuckiness of raw meat. That is why DH is a much better cook than I (okay, one of the reasons)
Kim: SOOO sorry about your printer struggles. Maybe the jpeg idea will work? I know you are so fustrated.
Liz: Half a bagel is better than 1/2 cup of ice cream. Who can get just that much?
Sophia: What about a bagel just toasted and lighted buttered? I don't fall into the cream cheese or peanut butter category.
Ally - Happy 11 mos to Aiden! I remembered last night that we need to take Ava's 11 month photo today.
Vent: Err, I just had a fustrating experience at Publix. I was checking out their cakes and planning to get DD's there. I liked the stacked present design that Liz posted, but don't need anything big and wanted lavender and white colors to match her theme. Well, the unfriendly bakery lady informs me immediately that their designs are trademarked so they can't change the colors or anything. Fine, I just want two stacked small sheet cakes, made to look like presents. She relents to that. I want the bottom lavender with white decorations and the top one white with a lavender ribbon. She says they can't do a frosting ribbon b/c that would infringes on the Glam Girl cake copywright! What#)*$!& ? There are cakes all over the place with frosting ribbons, not just at Publix. She says I could use a real ribbon. I look at their colors and ask if I could bring in my own- nope. She then acts bored and says to let her know when I'm ready to order. I decide to walk away and try again another day with a better employee. What kind of unfriendly person works in a bakery? Errrr
Just bough DS this bib for his birthday. It was super cheap as my co-workers mom is going out of the bib selling business.

We usually eat plain salad too. I can't stand soggy lettuce either. Then again I hate any soggy food including milk in my cereal.

Mmmmmmmmm!
Okay, Sophia, never mind the cream cheese! I feel obligated to tell you that being as how bagels are of Jewish origin, they should never, ever be served with ham! ;)
Don't worry, Kim! I know your party date, and I'll come whether I get a real invitation or not. (Do you want to use my printer?)

I don't have much time but did want to drop in. It's been a couple of days since I've posted. My shoulder feels better in the morning but after holding, carrying, and playing around with DD it hurts again by late afternoon/evening/night. My wrists are a totally different story though. My right one is really bothering me. It hasn't bothered me this much since I was pregnant.
Teething ~ DD has her eye teeth coming in. I can honestly say that I hate those teeth. The right one is nearly in and the left one is working on breaking through. As is the left center tooth. So that means that she will have 6 teeth by the time she's 11 months old. Crazy.
sophia ~ I was on antibiotics and meds (more than one) during my pregnancy as well. No problems with DD at all. I will be taking the meds next time for the HG as well. I will be getting earlier instead of waiting and hoping that it will get better or go away (which I did last time). I seriously didn't think that things would get that bad. I was worried during my pregnancy as well about all the meds and if DD would be fine. You are so correct about the end result being so worth it all.
Nat ~ My first few AFs after DD was born were horrible. I couldn't leave the house because of the bleeding. I went through quite a boxes. It finally got better but it took a while for it to get back to being lighter. Love the new haircut.
Have to finish later.

Kim~You're attempt at not cursing had me LOL! Sorry Kinkos is being stupid!
LIZ~Glad Caroline STTN for you!!
Ack! Just tried to few the next page of this thread, and it gave me a "server is too busy message". :( Now I have to sit and wait.
Kelsey~Grrrr! Sorry about the groucy lady at Publix.
Okay, I felt like the worst mom in the world this morning. DD is sitting in the middle of our bed while I get ready for the day. The next thing I know I hear a huge bump, turn to find her on the floor, and hearing her wailing. :( :( I rushed over picked her up, and DH and I checked her over and cuddled her. Did she learn anything about going near the edge of the bed? No. As soon as she saw the cat, she crawled right over again. Anyway, this happened shortly before her morning nap, so I had to keep her up because I wasn't for sure if she hit her head or not. Well, since she missed her morning nap and got the crap scarred out of her, she was a crab most of the morning. This afternoon she was much better and went right to sleep tonight since we got home late from church.
Okay, off to catch up on my other threads since I haven't been able to get online at all today!

Maggie: Sorry about the bakery lady. What a snot. Some people have no concept of flexibility! I hope there is someone more helpful there when you go back.
Spps: Cute bib! I think I need to look like something like that. I think I saw one at the party store.
Meri: Sorry to hear that you are still experiencing so much pain. I can relate to the eye teeth saga. I think those were the worst. Collin was miserable for a week. Uggh. He now has 7 teeth and one about to pop through!
Aww. Naamah. You're not a bad mommy. I think falling off the bed is pretty common. Unfortunately for me, it happened when Collin was 4 months old and I've been psycho vigilant about it ever since. I walked in the room and DH had him on the bed while he was doing something and I went ballistic. :o I hope I never have to hear that thump again. :(
Mother's Day: Does anyone have plans for our First Official Mother's Day? I think we are going out to lunch. Nothing crazy. DH asked me what I wanted. Grrr. Sometimes this question irks me. I feel like lately, I always have to tell him what to by me. Occasionally, it would be nice if he would put some thought in to it.

Maggie,
That sucks! I was afraid that I might run in to the same issue with the cakes. I noticed online that it said the Glam Girl cake was trademarked and therefore no changes could be made, but didn’t see the same notice for the gift cake. I was hoping to make color changes as well. I haven’t ordered yet, but I will let you know my experience when I do. What a beeyotch! I don’t even see a bow on the Glam Girl cake!
Meri,
You poor thing! I’m sorry your shoulder and your wrist are still bothering you. :(
Naamah,
(((HUGS))) Caroline rolled off of our bed when she was about 7 months old…and suffering from an ear infection. I felt like the worst Mom ever. I think I cried more than she did. Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us.
Mother’s Day,
Nope. No idea. I think we may go over to my grandmother’s (she is in hospice care) and have sandwiches or something. Nothing too big and elaborate. DH scored major points for last years Mother’s day gift, so he’s bought himself some more time.
We have another night of STTN!! I’m so thrilled! I’m hoping we’re back to our usual schedule.

Yeah, between my Asiago bagel craving, putting ham on a bagel and then ordering Canadian bacon and pineapple on my pizza, I expect to be run out of New York any day now.
Kelseyledare-Just realized that it's kelseyLEdare after all this time. Is that a fictional character or some other literary reference that I should know? Either way, it's cool. Back to your vent, I have found that most people who work in grocery stores are just there for a paycheck and don't care if they treat the customer like crap. Don't get me started on my Shop-Rite cashiers (all idiots). I have not put any thought into Alexa's cake but I like the idea of stacked sheetcakes. I'll see what I can convince Stop n' Shop to do although I can already see a battle with their bakery department.

naamah Addie fell off the couch last week. And this will really make you feel better.....yesterday she was playing on the floor in her room and I was sitting in the rocking chair in her room and I totally fell asleep...bad mommy!
maggie That situation about the cake stinks. I'd scout out the store for a few days and find someone with some social skills! ;)
mother's day My mom is coming into town so we'll all go to church then out to lunch. That's all I'm aware of anyway. I told DH last weekend that I'd rather have 30 minutes of sleeping in than any gift.
liz yeah for another good night!
sophia You're welcome in Texas too! (and I love pineapple pizza and I can probably make an exception about canadian bacon for you)
We just met some friends at the park and had a little picnic and played on the playground...well that's not quite accurate. The walking kids played on the playground, Addie ate mulch!
and I'm saving the best news for last....have I mentioned that DH and I are chaperoning PROM on Saturday???? I know you are all jealous! I've got my sequin dress all ready and I'm getting fake nails and having my hair done
just kidding! I tried to convince DH to wear a brown tuxedo (ala 1970) but he wouldn't go for it! So he's wearing a suit and I'm wearing a nice dress. I'll post pictures next week.

Liz - Horrry for another restful night. Glad Caroline, and you, are sleeping better. I don't dig on swine that much either. :) The Publix witch told me that all their cakes are copyright even if it doesn't specifically mention it on the sheet. whatever, I find it unfathomable that any of their cakes cannot be customized.
Natalie - How much fun will it be to watch all those early romances. Ah, I remember those days. Everything was a saga! Any time Addie wants a mulch- eating date, I bet Ava would join her...
Ally - love the new avatar- cute!
mother's day - ugh, I am working at 24 hr shift. Doubt DH has anything special planned, maybe I can get him to bring DD and lunch to me at work.
naamah - don't feel bad! Ava fell off our bed once and landed on the dog bed (covered with dog hair, ewww). It's like a right of passage for momma and baby. Glad to hear she was alright. I've noticed that our parents and older friends seem to have a lot more stories about dropping/falling babies- maybe they weren't as observant.
sophia - we are big fans of the ham/pineapple on pizza here as well. Kelsey Ledare Fideaux (pronounced Fi-do) is my furbaby's name. She's definitely not fictional, but, of course, thinks everyone should know of her ;).

Aww the PROM!! How cool is that!
DS loves to play with mulch but not really eat it. We were at the playground today and he would pick up one shred, walk a few steps, put it down, pick another one up and repeat. Much better than the little girl who was picking up handfuls of it and throwing them at her mother ;)

Nat: Have fun at the prom!:p I am a little jealous....I want to get dressed up. I think it'd look silly if I wore a gown to vaccuum or do my dishes. ;)
Mulch: I've got a mulch eater here, too. Yuck! Even worse..... I keep finding hair balls in his mouth. Collin is picking up the "floating" cat hair around the house and putting it in his mouth! I guess I should vaccuum more often.
Liz: Hooray for a sleeping baby!
Maggie: I hope you got the cake situation taken care of. I decided I'm only going to make Collin's smash cake and I'm going to order a sheet cake from the grocery store. I'm feeling lazy.
Mother's Day: My Birthday is monday, so as a combined Mother's Day/Birthday present I get the afternoon to myself today to go shopping for some new clothes. I still can't fit in most of my pre-pg clothes. We are also stopping by MIL's tonight to wish her a Happy Mother's Day (plus SIL is watching Collin for awhile at thier house). Thanks, Julie!
Ava woke up with fever this am and has been fussy all day. We've been doing the tylenol routine. She's done for her 3rd or 4th nap of the day now. Poor thing, she fussed for about 10 mins before I thought to offer her some juice this morning. She gulped about 3/4 of the cup. I felt so bad- she had obviously been thirsty. She did eat a better lunch than breakfast.
I have to work tomorrow so DH and DD gave me some stuff today: cards, red roses from DH, white ones from DD and a really cute tee-shirt that you imprint DD's hand and footprints. Says something nice about mother's baby above and below it. I would try to get her prints today, but she's definitely NOT in the mood to go along with that...
Maggie - we have that booster and we love it. We actually leave it set up in our kitchen and our highchair is in our dinning room so we don;t have to move anything back and forth. We have taken in on lots of trips and it has worked out really well.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!
Maggie,
We've been eyeballing the same booster seat. I've heard great things about it. So sorry Ava is not feeling well. Believe it or not, neither is Caroline (why do these two always seem to get sick together?!). Friday when I picked her up from school, there were two signs on the door to her classroom: 1 saying that there are a couple of cases of thrush, and the scond saying that there is a case of strep. Sure enough, Caroline started running a fever Friday night and her nose is running like a faucet. She seems to be doing a bit better today, but her nose is still running despite being on the Tanafed. Sigh. At least we already have her Ped appointment tomorrow...a followup on her ears.
Mrs. Chappy,
Wow...8 inches?! You'll have to post before & after pictures!
Mother's Day
Caroline "made" me a really cute framed poem in dc with her footprints and a picture of her. This morning I awoke to a card (scribbled and signed by her) and a pair of diamond solitaire earrings! Keith told me they are a Mother's Day/Congrats-on-Pumping-for-a-Year present. What a sweetie! He's definitely 2 for 2 on Mother's Day. He's etting the bar reeeal high for himself. LOL!

I think I am going to get the booster seat next time I'm @ BRU.
Liz: Sorry Caroline is also sick. It is pretty amazing how they seem to get sick together. I sure hope Caroline doesn't have strep, but at least it quickly responds to abx (though they are usualy booted out of DC for 24 hrs). Yeah on the card and earrings! Bet they're very pretty! Ava's DC also made a card, then I felt bad that I didn't send a card for her teacher (a mother to two girls, oh well).
Mrs. Chappy: Wow! Can't wait to see some photos. All these cute short cuts are really inspiring me to go for it...

Booster Seat Like spps we use the booster seat in the kitchen and have his high chair at the table. He likes the booster seat better and for some reason we end up eating at the island rather than the kitchen table.
1 year old in a week!! OMG!! I can't believe my little guy is going to be a year old in 1 week!!! This time last year I was still on bed rest and gaining weight by the minute!! Just in the last week I have started to miss being preggo, even though I had a terrible pregnancy! This month also marks 1 year until we start trying again.
Going back to full-time We DH wants me to go back to work full-time next year so starting in september I will be working full-time again so we can save money. I am either going to teach 1st or 3rd. I am hoping for 3rd, but anything will be fine. We are planning on having me work full-time next year and the year after I would work until I gave birth and then have the whole summer off. After the second one is born I would go back to part-time until the kids were in both in school. I still have 4 months till that happens, but it already makes me sad!!!

Booster seat-We have that one that Maggie posted and love it. We use it instead of a high chair and it's one of the best decisions we made. Definitely get one.
Bad mommy-Everyone's been posting stories of their babies falling off the bed, changing table, etc. I've been surprised that it hasn't happened to Alexa yet but figured it was just because we are super paranoid and overprotective of the kid. Well, no more! She fell half way down the stairs this weekend on MY watch! DH had just finished changing her diaper and was in the bathroom washing his hands. I was a big bloated nauseated whale in the rocker and Alexa was the playing on the floor of her room. She headed towards the door as I'm saying "No, no, no" and cruises on out anyways. I jump up and run out just in time to see her at the top of the stairs with her hand going forward. I dropped down to grab her and she was gone. As if in slow motion, I'm watching her tumble down the stairs as I slide on my stomach down the stairs after her. I finally grab her about five steps down. She's screaming, I'm sprawled out head first on the stairs and DH is yelling and runs past me on the stairs to pick up Alexa. She's fine although a little shaken up and we watched her all weekend to make sure she didn't have a concussion or anything. Of course, as I'm lying there sprawled out on the stairs, I'm thinking "Holy crap! I just threw myself down the stairs ON MY STOMACH and I'm 8 weeks pregnant!" I keep reassuring myself that it's so early in the pregnancy and I'm well padded in the belly area so this baby didn't feel a thing. Just to be sure, I've got an appointment this afternoon to double check the heartbeat. Ugh, we're so mad at ourselves for not putting up the stairgates.

Ferris: wow! Dougie is going to be one! Sorry you are sad about going back to work full time. I'm sure it will all work out for the best. Just enjoy the rest of your part time work until it's inevitable. You have the whole summer to look forward to!
Maggie: Sorry that Ava isn't feeling well. Poor thing. Even when Collin's not sick, I often forget that he might want a drink now and then. I should really just keep a sippy with water with in his reach.
Liz: Poor Caroline, again! I hope it whatever it is, it goes away fast! Diamond earrings, huh! Go DH!
MrsChappy: That's a lot of hair to chop off! take some pics
