HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DOUGIE!!!

Ferris,
I love the cake and the cupcakes! They're adorable!!

Naps
Caroline had pretty much gone to one a day over the past couple of months, but has recently (within the past couple of weeks) gone back to 2 a day. I think she may be in the midst of a growth spurt. Anyway, when she dropped her second nap, her one nap was all over the board, too. And some days she’d still take 2 naps. Over time though, it settled in to a more regular time of going down between 10 and 11. It didn’t happen all at once for us either. Some days she’d take one, some she’d take 2. Eventually it got to where she was only taking 1. It will all work itself out. In the meantime, just try to follow their cues.

Ferris,
When is Dougie's Birthday? The first post says it's on the 21st but the 2nd post says it's on the 25th.

Phew... I'm not nuts! I thought I missed it!

Happy Birthday Douglas!

Ferris: The cake looks great and those cupcakes are so creative! I'm glad you had a great time at the zoo.

Happy Birthday Douglas!

Ferris - the cake and cupcakes are adorable.

naps - tgr, DS is also in the process (I think) of dropping a nap. Sometimes he takes a 3 hour monring nap and no afternoon, sometimes it is a short morning and short afternoon, and once it was actually a 2.5 hour middle of the day nap.
On the days when he takes a long morning nap though, he is super duper cranky by 4 PM.

Jessiesmama - glad to hear everything is ok.

I'm so excited that our babies are turning one!

RSVP: I still have not recieved calls or emails from about 10 people! It is sooo irritating and so rude. I assume they aren't coming, but WTF. I just know I'm going to get calls the night before the party.

How's everyone else's party plans going?

How's everyone else's party plans going?

Ugh, our party is Saturday and I'm starting to stress. I am still fighting M/S so I don't have the energy to do much when I get home from work. I picked up the paper goods and goody bag stuff this weekend but I still have so much to do. THANKFULLY, I am overorganized and started planning this three months ago so I have a lot of things done already. However, our cleaning lady cancelled this month and we've got a part on order for our pool that won't be in until the day AFTER the party so I'm afraid we're going to have a swampy pool for the back yard activites. Oh drama! Well, if this is the worst thing in my life, I count myself pretty lucky. :o

Party Going well since we are having the party at my parents upstate and got all the stuff months ago. Eveyone has RSVPed. The only ones that haven't are out of town people who I know probably won't come.

Ordering the cake this weekend and picking up stuff for goodie bags. Also we are going to a resturant to taste test some of their stuff to see if we want to get a few things from them

Allergic to dogs
Yesterday, mom took Jessie to her best friend's house. Her friend has 2 boxers. Jessie LOVED playing with them and "patting" them. But when she got back to my mom's her face started swelling. Her right eye and different patches on her face became swollen! That seemed like the extent of the allergy - just the swelling. She had a bath and took an evening nap. She's in good spirits today and her face looks a little better. I can't believe she's allergic to dogs!

Douglas B-day was the 21st. I guess we will need to change the 2nd post to the 21st!!

Poop!! Today is his 1 year appointment and he pooped this morning!! I was hoping that he could hold it in so he could weigh a few more oz!! I don't think he will be 20 pounds now!! :p

Party: Our family party is this Sunday in Philly and our friends party is next Sunday in NYC. My mom is doing most of the work for the first party :o, though I did send out the invitations and will be there to help her cook on Saturday. All I really know is that she ordered an 18x20 cake pan, but it won't fit in her oven, so we have to come up with an alternative solution. DH's family was invited (aunts, uncles, cousins), and the only people who RSVP'ed were his parents and one set of cousins. So I assume no one else from his side will be there.

Our friends party will be in the park, weather permitting, and I already have the cake and some coookies baked and frozen (needed to plan ahead since we'll be out of town this weekend.) I'll need to frost it the day of and make all of the food. Trying not to stress too much about it.

Party
Plans are coming along well. I ended up adding some friends to our guest list, so now I'm looking at 40+ people for the party. Since we had a few additions, I need to order a few more plates and buy some more napkins. Still need to order the favors. I have a lot left to do. I'm starting to stress. Invitations just went out Friday and I haven't heard from anyone yet saying they are not coming.

Weight
I'm a little nervous. Caroline weighed a little over 18 pounds at her 9 month WBV. Yesterday i put her on the scale and she still weighed 18 pounds. Is it because they are so mobile now? I just worry because she's not an eater. She flat out refuses to eat purees anymore and she just picks at table food. I'm really worried how things are going to go at her 12 month WBV in a couple of weeks.

Ferris

1 year appointment Well he weighed in at 18 lbs 13 ozs! So no forward facing seat for us. It will probably be another 3 months till he reaches 20.

weight: 18 lbs 13 oz, 3.8%
height: 29 3/4 in, 50%
head: 18 1/2

Sophia: Sorry you are feeling crappy. I'm hoping m/s stays away! I've only had some very mild nausea when I haven' t eaten. I don't feel pg b/c last time was so horrible. :o Anyhow, good thing you were super planner early on. I really need to get going on things.

Ally: I should really order the cake soon, too. I'm making his smash cake, but I decided I didn't want the hassle of making the "big" cake.

Jodie: Ackk... poor Jessie. I hope the swelling is gone. So far I haven't noticed any animal allergies here. We don't have a dog, but our families do.

Ferris: LOL!:D I don't think even a big poop could have propelled him to the 20lb mark!

Roseanne: Try not to stress. Asher's parties will be great!

Liz: Our list started around 40 and it's looking more like 15-20. Less work for me!

Weight: Collin was weighed about a month ago and was 21lbs 1oz, so I don't think we'll have a problem turning the seat around. :p

Party
I'm gasping as I type this but we invited 125 people!!!! And there were a lot we had to cut out!!! We have huge families and all our close friends have children so it added up fast! I got about 55 yes responses 29 no responses - still waiting on quite a few. But the invites only went out last Thursday. We're doing it at a restaurant. Having some entertainment... cake is ordered - favors are ready - baloons are ready to be blown up - I can't believe it's so big!?!?!

WBV
We have Jessie's wbv on June 12th. So I won't know what her officail weight is for a few more weeks.

Question
Is everyone turning their car seats around the moment your DC hits the 20lb and 1 year mark - or are some people waiting?

Question
Is everyone turning their car seats around the moment your DC hits the 20lb and 1 year mark - or are some people waiting?

I know there are lots of moms who are waiting, but I can't wait to turn that darned thing around. I can't be in the car for more than 20min without him screaming. I think he feels alone. I try to talk to him and play kid music, but I can see him straining his neck to try and see me. :(

QOTD- Car Seat
We'll be waiting. It doesn't bother her to be rear-facing. She's actually really good in the car. So, for the time being we are keeping her rear-facing as long as she is content. Not that I even have that option right now with my itty bitty little girl.

Ferris,
I have to say, I'm relieved to see that Dougie hasn't packed on a lot since his last visit either. Did the Dr. seem concerned? Did they say it's because they are more mobile and not gaining as much? I totally thought Caroline would be at 20 pounds by her first birthday. I'm a little worried that she has only gained a few ounces since her last appointment.

Jodie,
Wow...125 people?! You are a much better woman than I am. I'm freaking over my 40+. I think all 40+ of ours will show, too. Like you, our is mostly family. Seriously. We only invited 5 non-family couples and their families.

carseat I don't know-he really likes the car and seems to do fine so I think we will leave him go a while.

Okay, I made a detailed list for the party and i'm feeling calmer. I reviewed the appetizers and got rid of things like the pesto and sun dried tomatoe torta in favor of a pesto pizza which is much easier to make and will taste just as wonderful. Got rid of homemade bruschetta and will replace with chips and salsa and bean dip. What am I? Flippin' superwoman? The party will be wonderful without me killing myself with homemade chicken satay. I'm getting real here and feeling much better. :)

kelseyledare
05-24-2006, 04:34 PM
sophia: totally seems reasonable! all that stuff will taste just as good, plus you will not kill yourself cooking.

carseat: we will keep her rear-facing. I bet she's around the 18.5 lb mark so not big enough anyway. seems to tolerate it well enough.

party: only expecting 18 or so. all family intown to my parents so not a big deal on the RSVPs, though isn't it still a common courtesy to respond when asked??? only having kiddie toy favors if my cousin's boys can attend. I need to practice making the adult cookie favors, though. have all the paper goods and am almost through making her birthday crown. cake is ordered. need to finalize cook-out menu with my mom. hmm, guess I need to make a list myself

Typing this during the American Idol finale, so please excuse any incoherence! ;)

Thanks for all the nap info! It has been so hard to plan my days because of the craziness!

Party~I sent out invites last week. I've heard back from a few people. Most can come. DH's aunt will be out of the country. My mom said she just can't make it but wouldn't say why. I kind of expected that, though. I still need to get the bow done for the cake at some point and make the icing beforehand. Also, we need to pick up a pool because when I tried a few days ago, Walmart was all sold out.

Jodie~Poor Jessie. :( Wow! That's a big crew!

Carseat~I'm kind of ready to turn it around. Our car is rather short, and I keep bumping her head because of the ceiling slope.

Not much here this evening. Just finished watching AI, and I am sooooooo happy about the results!! Taylor was my boy from the very beginning!!

Ferris
05-24-2006, 11:21 PM
Liz No the doc wasn't concerned, especially since he only weighed 5 lbs 5 oz at birth so he has gained over 13 already. She said don't try and force him to eat, he'll make sure he's getting enough. She said that there has to be kids in the lower percentile and not to stress over it.

Car seat Like jmvan74 Dougie doesn't like to be rear-facing without being able to see someone. I am lucky if we can go 10 minutes without him fussing the rest of the way home. But it looks like I will have to wait at least 3 months for that not to happen anymore. Maybe I should have been like Brittany Spears and turned him around 4 months ago when he was 8 months old!:p

jmvan74

Maybe I should have been like Brittany Spears and turned him around 4 months ago when he was 8 months old!:p

ROTFL!! Sorry that Dougie is not big enough yet. It won't be long.

Sophia: Sounds yummy to me. ;)

Maggie: I was wondering if I should do a favor for adults....there are only going to be 3 kids here, so those will be easy. Now....what to do.

Naamah: Can't say I was pleased with the AI winner. I always agreed with Simon's initial comments about him being a back up guy. But I'm sure Katherine will have an album for me to buy. ;)
Glad you are getting rsvps!

naps: Man oh man! I hate this transition time. I feel like everyday we play the "will he nap?" game. Yesterday, Collin slept for an hour in the morning and then was up for 5 hours before he would go to sleep again! It made for one miserable baby and one stressed out pregnant woman!

We had the stomach bug over here yesterday. Addie threw up 3 times, had diarreah and I got sick too (I won't give you my details!). I woke up feeling horrible and called MIL to come over and take care of Addie. It's times like this that I'm thankful she lives so close. DH left school at 1:30 and brought me soup, got Addie pedialyte, and took care of us. We're feeling much better now-no throwing up but Addie did have a loose stool this morning. Hopefully it's almost over!

party plans I still haven't sent out all the invitations. I got them printed a few weeks ago, then we found out we might be moving and I thought it would be stupid to have people bring things for Addie's garden if we're about to move. So I redid the invitations and they are taking forever to be printed. Oh well, I know that all our family will be here and our best friends. I won't be too upset if the others can't come. :p

carseat I plan to keep her rear facing until she hits the height and weight limit just because its so much safer and I'm paranoid! I'm sure she won't hit 20 pounds for a while anyway.

tgr I like Taylor, but I'm really still upset that Chris Daughtry got kicked off. I thought he was so talented.

still no news on the job Hopefully we'll find something out tomorrow or Monday. Have I mentioned that I HATE waiting?

party 50 so far..i'm catering in deli..making cookies, bakery is making cake (i'm making his cake) and will have a fruit platter. Appetizers are going to come from Costco (veggie platter), etc. Its a no fuss kind of thing. Even hired someone to takeover my kitchen so i don't have to worry. its worth the expense!!

Car seat don't tell, we flipped him to forward facing two weeks early. Life is so different that way..and we have more space in the front passenger seat!! we travelled out of state last week and had to take the car seat on the plane..so when we put it in the car we officially decided it was time to be front facing. It was funny..he fell asleep and kept jumping in his sleep..like he wasn't used to the motion of going forward.

Party - we will be about 20 and that will be just immediate family. We are going to barbeque so hopefully it won't rain.

carseat - we plan to keep DS rear-facing as long as possible.

The things we do for naps -- DS fell asleep in the car on the way back from the supermarket so I am sitting in the car with the laptop as not to have to move him and wake him up.

Other exciting news of the days is DS got his first shoes!

http://www.striderite.com/images/us/local/products/thumb/GUPPYBROWN.JPG

He has been walking for a few weeks and I finally decided it was time. It is a good thing too. When we got to Stride Rite they were practically out of sandals. They actually had to call another store to hold the right pair of shoes for us to go pick up.

Anyone have big plans for the weekend? We are having a college friend of DH stay over Friday night / Saturday. Then I think Sunday and Monday we are going to catch up on yardwork and go to our neightbor's DS's 3rd birthday party.

Naamah, yes, most of the top 12 were pretty talented. I hope that Chris Daughtry has an album. I love this show. ;)

Nat: Ughh. Sorry you and Addie were sick. No fun. Luckily, it sounds like it was short lived. Hope you have good news tommorrow.

MrsChappy: OOOOHHH! I'm telling. :D Actually DH and I have been debating turning it around now, too. We don't have any long trips planned until after his bday so we'll probably hold off. Sounds like Ben's party is all set!

Spps: I sat in the car and ate taco bell the other day while DS slept. There was no way I was waking him after only 15 minutes! :p
I love those sandals. I was thinking about getting them for Collin.

Weekend Plans: My nephew's bday is Saturday so we'll be going there for cake, but no other pressing plans.

I know that I've been gone for a while but I have just had too many things going on. It's been one thing after another. First hospice removed my dad from their program, I've been talking to the head office about everything that went on/problems, and a few other issues. It's enough to make you want to pull your hair out (or at least it does for me).

I was hoping for a nice relaxing weekend but that isn't going to be the case. Saturday is going to be VERY busy for us (family reunion, a friend's daughter's wedding though we won't make it to the ceremony - still not certain about the reception either, and my class reunion). Plus we have a big celebration going on in town this weekend as well. Probably will have a cookout at some point over the weekend and some friends of ours are going to be here from Indiana as well.

I still need to finish DD's invites but that has to wait until the weekend when we can pick up some supplies I still need. I wish I'd had time to pick them up earlier this weekend but when I had the opportunity my shoulder was killing me (just after the injection) and I just didn't feel like driving, messing with the shopping car and cover or the stroller.

Car Seat
We're keeping ours rear-facing as long as DS is happy that way. He passed the 20-lb mark a while ago. He likes to wave to the baby in the mirror we have back there. It has a lever that allows you to sit it up or recline. He likes it better up now.

Holiday Weekend
I totally forgot it was a holiday weekend! Whoops...
Friday: I am looking at houses. DH took the day off to golf (he told me last night). I have a cleaning lady coming, since we're having 2 get togethers at our place next week.
Saturday: We're taking DS into the city to see the ship.
Sunday: Who knows!
Monday: I had made plans to look at houses, but since DH will be home I cancelled it.

BDay Party(s)
Tuesday is our friends play group/'party' so on Monday I need to get the food, cupcakes, and clean up whatever mess DH & DS make over the weekend.
Next Saturday is our party...I need to:
- Buy & arrange favor bags
- Order the smash cake
- Order the balloons
- Buy something to wear!
- Prep the "guest room" (tv room) for overnight guests
- Give the catering manager the final head count
- Figure out what we are offering to those who come over after the party (cocktails, food, ??) and how the heck to fit them in our place. :p
Then Sunday we Baptise DH...I need to:
- Buy him white shoes
- Pray his outfit arrives in time
- Find something for me to wear
- Figure out what we will serve for brunch before the church (it's at 2:30, and my parents & brother need to drive back to MA after it)...and if that will be here or a restuarant.

Hmmm. I need to get a move on, don't I? :o

Happy Birthday, Alexa! Sophia, I’m thinking of you today and have said a little prayer for Alexander. (((HUGS)))

Nat,
Sorry about the stomach bug. There seems to be a lot of that going around. It plagued the dc last week. Fortunately we had Caroline out for her EI so it passed her by. We finally dodged one bullet. LOL! Glad to hear that the two of you are on the mend.

spps,
LOVE the sandals! They’re adorable!

Meri,
Sorry things have been so hectic. Hopefully the fact that they took him off of hospice means that they have hope that he’ll pull through all of this. It’s hard though when they are not quite sick enough for hospice, but too sick to take care of themselves or have their families care for them. (((HUGS)))

Kim,
Good luck house hunting!

Weekend Plans
We’re actually heading down to Pensacola for a long weekend to visit family. Wish us luck…it’s a 5 hour drive.

Meri Reading your post makes me stressed out for you! I hope you get a little rest this weekend!
kim Good luck with the house hunt and with your busy week ahead. You said you're taking DS to the city...I'm confused because I thought you lived in the city???
liz Good luck on the drive. We'll pray that Caroline sleeps! :D
spps Cute sandals!
Mrs. Chappy We're just having cake and a fruit platter too. I can't imagine trying to cook meal for eveyone and prepare for a party and take care of DD.....I'm amazed at all these multitasking mommas!

school's out for summer (a la Alice Cooper) DH IS DONE WITH SCHOOL! His last day was yesterday. Today he doesn't have any responsibilities at school or with coaching so we're spending the day together. Yesterday was actually our 4th anniversary and DH had to work late at school to close out the year so we're going to celebrate today. We alternate years planning the anniversary. This year is my year. We don't have much money and no babysitter, so here are our plans (DH doesn't know yet). I have 4 envelopes sealed up. 1st says "where". Inside there are 3 folded cards. Dh has to choose one from these sealed options. One says Walmart, two says Target, three says Mall. Next envelope says "how much". DH will have to choose from these sealed up options: One says $15, one says $25, one says $30. Next envelope says "time crunch". Dh will have to choose from these sealed options: one says 30 minutes, one says 15 minutes, one says 20 minutes. Once he's opened all the envelopes we'll hit the destination he chose. Then we'll have x amount of $, x amount of time, at x store to find each other a present. It should be pretty funny to see what we come up with. After we finish shopping he has an envelope with 3 sealed choices for dinner (all our favorite restaurants that we don't get to go to very often). We had some friends who did a similar thing for valentine's day and had so much fun running around Walmart to find a gift. I hope we have fun!

weekend plans DH has a football tournament (summer league) tomorrow. You didn't really think football was over just because school was did you?? He wants Addie and me to go with him but he has to be there at 6am and then we drive for 2 hours. Not my idea of fun. We'll see if we end up going or not. Then Sunday we'll go to church and I'll cook lunch at home. Monday we either go for an interview or we spend the day with some church friends and their kiddos cooking out and swimming at their neighborhood pool.
DH MIA DH leaves Tuesday for 10+ days to work at the University of Texas football camp. You might remember that he did it last year too. He got back Sunday June 12th and Addie was born Tuesday June 14th. It was crazy. This year won't be quite as stressful, but it will be lonely. I may go visit my parents for a few days.

Have a great weekend everyone!

kim ~ Thanks.

Julie ~ Thanks. I'd like to stay home from the family reunion but I know DH wants to go since this is the first one for his mom's side of the family (his dad's side of the family has one every year in October). Just with everything that is going on. I'd like to go just because I've never met most of the people that will be there. I'd skip the class reunion as well but already spent the money for the dinner and I'd like to see some of my classmates (got an email yesterday asking for pictures to be emailed by the end of the day. With everything that went on yesterday afternoon I didn't have time until last evening so I have feeling the pictures I emailed won't be included on the video. I just wish that they would have asked for the pictures a week ago so people would have had time to get them emailed. GRR!!!!).

Liz ~ Thanks. Unfortunately, they just removed him simply because they didn't want to learn a thing about his disease (it isn't very common and they never thought that they needed to call the nurse manager at his doctor's office. They would get upset at the littlest things but it is part of his illness/disease that causes these things to happen. If they took the time to learn about it they would have known that.). It will never get better, just keep going downhill. Everyone keeps asking how much time he has left. That's one question my mom has never questioned the doctor about because my dad is always sitting in the room. Who wants to be the one to ask that when their spouse and father of their child is in that condition. She doesn't want him to hear the time frame (if he understands).

Have fun on your trip Pensacola. We would like to go back down south to Biloxi/Gulfport and New Orleans. Don't know if we will get back down there this summer or not. We've talked about going to Florida (Disney World) next year.

Nat ~ Thanks. I have a feeling the only relaxation time I'm going to get is going to be at my therapy session today and I'm not too sure how relaxing it's going to be. I've already been told that my shoulder/arm is going to be very sore after the session. My shoulder is still having problems and they hope that doing this intense session today will help lossen it up. We shall see.

Happy Birthday, Alexa!!! Sophia, I'm thinking of you today and wishing you strength and the happiest day. I know that your thoughts are with Alexander as well. Know that he is looking down and wishing that he could be with you today (and everyday) but he is well taken care of up there. {{{HUGS}}}

Wow, ladies, thanks for the best wishes and beautiful thoughts for Alexa and Alexander. I got teary eyed but in a good way. :)

We had Alexa's party yesterday and although it wasn't exactly what I wanted, a fun time was had by all. The main problem was that Thursday after work I started to get a bit of headache and when I woke up Friday morning, it was a full blown migraine with nausea, vomitting and the works. DH and I had taken the day off to get things ready for the party but I was pretty much worthless. DH and my mom worked all day getting things together while I lay on the couch and moaned on occasion. Thankfully by Saturday I was feeling better but given that the party was at noon, I had all of 4 hours to get a day's worth of work done! I ran aorund like a mad woman picking up balloons and decorations, organizing crudite and cheese platters, making rice pilaf and green beans for the buffet (my mom, bless her heart, had spent 6 hours the day before making 20 lbs of chicken marsala and cutting up a ham) and making silverware bundles.
Guests began arriving and I was a nut job. I forgot to put out the juice boxes so I have no idea what the kids drank, one platter of chicken was cold since I didn't heat it up long enough and I burnt a batch of dinner rolls. It rained just as the party started so our plans of an outdoor party were shot and we scrambled to get everything inside. Thankfully, it finally cleared up so people could go outside for the last hour.
Despite everything, people had a terrific time. I never did get a smash cake for Alexa but I gave her the first piece of cake and she devoured the whole thing. We have a video of all this chaos going on around her and she ignores it all and just keeps shoving in cake. I thought for sure she would be sicker than a dog from all the sugar but she was great for the rest of the day.
Gift-wise we got LOADS despite the fact that we specifically asked for donations. Some people followed our request and gave nice donations to the March of Dimes, others did donations with little "token" gifts which was nice too but others (please note: FAMILY!) blatantly blew off our request by giving loads of clothes that we don't want or need, and I was honestly insulted. I would think that they of all people would understand that we wanted some recognition for Alexander without taking away from Alexa but one person actually made a comment like "I bought this but I guess you'll just give it to charity, ha ha". Whatever. Pregnancy hormones and severe M/S have made me a raging psycho so maybe I'll look back on this in a year and be more understanding but I honestly don't think so.
I'm at home right now with dial up so I'm not posting any photos now but once I'm back in the office on Thursday with DSL, I'll post some good cake eating photos.
Thank you again for all the good wishes. You ladies are the best!

"I bought this but I guess you'll just give it to charity, ha ha".
My response to this.... "That's a great idea, but I think I'll sell it on ebay and give the money to the March of Dimes." ;)

I'm glad that everything went well, Sophia. Sorry you didn't feel well and some family members were a bit inconsiderate. Overall, it sounds like a great party. I can't wait to see pics of Alexa woofing down the cake. :D

5 hour drive? YUCK! Hope you fun once you're there!

NATRAT
Nope, I just live very close to the city. :)
Your anniversary gift game is too cute!! I never know what to do for DH (the man has everything!), but this kind of selection game sounds like fun - and a challenge!
10 days alone kinda stinks...but whenever Tom has to take a trip I make some 'girly' plans: invite mom to visit, make plans with my girlfriends, have a friend sleep over, rent chick flicks, that kind of thing. :) Eat, drink ,watch & do everything he doesn't like, lol!

sophiapb
Family is family because they are the best at listening to our wishes then completely ignoring them to do whatever the heck they want anyway. ;) You may have recieved some crap, but I am sure the donation bins at your local shelter will really, really appreciate it! Donation by Default, as I call it....:)
So sorry you weren't feeling well - I have a history of migraines, and have had days like that. Blech! At least DH & mom were there to really help you out.
I can't wait to meet Alexa, and of course you! I bet she was a real treat at the party. And I'm sure Alexander was right there with her as she enjoyed her cake.

Standing!
DS is standing on his own All The Time now - about 1 minute at a time.

Teething!
He got his 3rd tooth last weekend, and has been getting almost every night this week wanting a cuddle. So today I looked inside, and he has 2 top teeth juuuuuust about popped through, another I think will pop through this week and the gums around his other front tooth area is super red and swollen. He is in so much pain!

Movies
I watched Transamerica today while DS napped - it was so good. I want to go see The Breakup this weekend while the family is...maybe they will babysit DS so DH & I can actually have a date! *gasp*

Fleet Week
It is Fleet Week this week so there are sailors allllll over the city. And of course, the desperate over-made-up women who can't resist a man in uniform are also alllll over the city. ;) It was an interesting day yesterday as we went out for lunch and shopped. **Hey sailor!!!*** lol

Ferris~LOL at yor Britney comment!

NatRat~I wasn't a big fan of Chris's, but mainly because of his genre choice. I loved his devotion to his family and did recognize that he was VERY talented! I was sad to see him go as well. I didn't realize how much I had missed seeing him perform until the finale! :p Hope everyone in your household is feeling better. Let us know when you find out on the job. Praying for you!!

spps~Yeah for DS's first shoes!! Very cute choice!

Roseanne~Hope Asher's first party went well!

Meri~Sorry about them dropping your dad. :( Hope your weekend was fun!!

Party~Still need to:
*Buy pool.
*Settle on a menu.
*Get started on the cake.
*Call those who haven't RSVP'ed.
*Decide on and purchase remainder of decorations.

Happy Birthday, Alexa!!

Sophia~Sorry you were so sick while getting ready for Alexa's party. Glad everyone had a great time!

LIZ~Hope the drive went well. We made a six hour trek ourselves!

Kim~Good luck with househunting! Congrats on Thomas standing!

Our weekend was good. We got to see my aunt & uncles, MIL's cousins, and FIL's brother. We also visited a in aunt & uncles hometown in TX and the Museum of Natural History in Norman, OK. We also did some major shopping! :D

Well, off to catch up on other journals!

sophia Sorry about the migrane. I used to get those every month and they suck! I'm glad Alexa's party went well and that you had your DH and mom to help out!
kimNope, I just live very close to the city. Gotcha.
I plan to have some girl time and I may even go out of town to see my friends and their new baby. My parents are out of town or I would ask mom to come up and visit.
tgr I'm not a huge rock fan, but I just thought Chris had the most talent. Where in Texas did you visit?
anniversary date It went well, but not exactly as planned. We ended up at the mall with $30 each and 30 minutes to find a gift. I searched and searched and found this UnderArmour (athletic) shirt that I swore DH had been wanting. When we met up after 30 minutes I gave him the shirt and he said he didn't like it! So we went and exchanged it. He gave me a Gap giftcard. So much for creativity! But I did get 3 new shirts out of the deal and we had a great dinner at DH's fave steakhouse. Addie was with us and she and the baby at the next table kept each other entertained!

I'd planned on a rather restful weekend and it didn't happen. Friday DH got a call to set up his final interview for the job. I started stressing about the possibility of putting our house on the market and decided that it was time to do a few projects around the house. Saturday my BF came over to help me paint both bathrooms and watch Addie while I painted. It was hard work but I finally finished around 10:30 that night! I woke up so sore Sunday!

DH's final interview was today at noon and it went really, really well. Addie and I went with him. We waited in the waiting room while DH interviewed with the Athletic Coordinator and the Superintendent of Schools. They interviewed 4 finalists today and we should know something by tomorrow!! Every time the phone rings I almost pee my pants because I'm so nervous! :o

memorial day After DH's interview we went to a BBQ at a friend's house. We had brisket, sausage, lots of veggies, TONS of desserts and had so much fun hanging out. Addie enjoyed playing with the other little girls and playing with new toys. We came home around 5 and started packing DH's things for his week in Austin.

Meri: I hope you had a good time this weekend, despite being so busy. Sorry the class reunion people weren't very organized. My 10 year was a waste of time. I still can't beleive I went.

Kim: congrats to Thomas for standing alone! Plus all of those new teeth! When I hear Fleet Week, I automatically think "Sex and the City". :p

Naamah: Glad you had a great time visiting family and shopping!:D

Nat: Sorry the anniversary date didn't go quite as planned, but it seems like it worked out. ;) That's great that the interview went well. Hope he got it!!

Weekend: We didn't do too much. Saturday we went to the local horse races. It was soooo hot and humid, but it was fun. We hung out with family and met up with some friends. Sunday, we just hung around the house. My SIL came down to give Collin his bday presents b/c she is moving to TX tomorrow. Then we went to the mall so DH could get new glasses. Exciting stuff. Sunday, we just sat around again. We did fill up Collin's little pool and let him try it out. He was more interested in climbing over the edge to grab the grass.

10 teeth...that's crazy! Aren't you glad you're not BFing anymore? ;) Jeesh...Caroline still only has 2 and she JUST got those.

I forgot to mention...today is Caroline's first day in her new classroom at dc. I hope she does okay. I'm so worried about her being with new teachers. I hope she makes the transition alright. Not to mention, being with older children. This room goes up to about 18 months. I spent the whole weekend with a 19 month old, so I've seen firsthand how cruel they are to their younger counterparts. :(

I'm sorry, Natrat. I was getting really excited for you. Oh well, once that better job comes along, you'll be so relieved that this one didn't work out. :)

Well, after all my badgering of Kim to have a playdate, I bailed on her. :( I've been sick and miserable and really concerned that I might have to leave my job and go on disability. I honestly don't know how I can continue on like this and I'm only in my tenth week! Thank goodness I took a long Memorial weekend because I was sick on Friday and Monday and was on and off today. We have a whole day planned in the city tomorrow for my mom's birthday witha private gallery tour, visit to a museum and then high tea at a restaurant. I am so afraid that i'm going to be sick again which would suck since I've been planning this for months. Oh, poor, poor me. Table for one. The name is "Pity". "Pity Party". :o

So sorry DH didn't get the job. Maybe there is an even better opportunity in it's wake. You never know...
Though your anniversary day didn't go exactly as you hoped, it must have at least been fun and it was so nice to be so involved together in the gift-giving. My DH is great on a daily basis, but he just doesn't quite "get" the whole anniversary thing. Doesn't help that the Yankees are usually in playoffs at that time. Watching him read his Blackberry during dinner is soooooo romantic.

Today's Play Group
Welll.....
We had a nice time but it started out hectic! Two friends had to cancel: sophiapb because of her m/s and that long drive up to me and andreamms because her little one had a cold, and other CC friend who wanted to call in sick to wok went MIA (I have a feeling she got held up after the holiday weekend). :( While getting those calls, I was in the midst of getting my groceries delivered for lunch and may truck towed.
Yes, yesterday when I put DS down for his a.m. nap an headed out to the garage to hit Gap & Banana republic for something to wear to this weekend's events & the grocery store for today's lunch I turned the key and the starter was dead. GReat! Which meant we were stuck inside all day yesterday since it was a holiday. Oh well!
Thank goodness everyone was late, since the tow truck got here at 11:45 (people were to arrive at 11:30) and it took me almost 20 minutes to take care of it.
But in the end, 2 of my local 'usual' playgroup friends and the always delightful dreshny made it - and we had fun! We ate and sang to Thomas and had cupcakes and they all played. I love how they all interact so well together now.
Here is a video of Thomas' first cupcake experience from today:
http://www.dropshots.com/day.php?userid=115947&cdate=20060530&ctime=171759

I took a bunch of pictures and video clips (he also got his 1st bday gift from his girlfriend Bella: her favorite board books). A nice day!

sophiapb
You deserve a little pity party, you're feeling pukey! Hope you are on the mend at least for the day so you can enjoy it. :)

My Truck & Party Errands
Okay..back to my dilemma. So the truck is dead and towed away, and we have no ETA on it.
**Perfect** timing, since I need to do EVERYTHING to prepare for the party & Baptism tomorrow.  My friend N was going to watch DS while I did errands, but instead she will act like my chauffer and drive me around all day. Lol! She is definitely a good friend for doing that for me!
But this doesn't help that:
1. Tom has golf plans Thursday
2. I am supposed to be meeting incoming family on Friday
3. We need the car for errands Saturday before the party starts (p/u the cake & ballons)
4. The Baptism is Friday
Ak! And did I mention the car is only 1 year old? So annoying. Oh well...

Did I mention how unprepared I am for this party? I can't even put my To Do list here, because it will eat up too much space and we'll need to make a new thread. ;)

Nat~I'm sorry to hear that. :( I completely understand where you are. DH searched for what seemed like forever before he found something (primarily because we refuse to move). Hopefully it won't take you guys too long!

LIZ~How did her first day go?

Julie~Wow! 10 teeth!! We're still sitting at zero!

sophia~Hopefully, the m/s will leave the instant your 2nd trimester starts!

Kim~Sorry the playdate started off so hectic. Looks like Thomas enjoyed his cupcake! :) Hope the truck situation gets sorted out soon.

Natrat: I'm so sorry the job didn't work out. At least you don't have to move again, though. And I keep meaning to tell you that your hairbows are great! My friend's little girl looks so cute in them. :)

Sophia: I hope you feel better soon. I was so bummed that I didn't get to meet you and Alexa today.

Kim: I love the video. I especially love Asher's chubby arm reaching into the frame trying to steal Thomas's cupcake. ;)

Asher's party on Sunday went great. We have lots of pictures, but they aren't downloaded yet. He was a picture-perfect birthday boy--he even wore the pointy hat. :D

Oh, and here's a tip for those who are concerned about too much sugar: we frosted Asher's smash cupcake with plain old cream cheese. (yes, it makes me gag, but Asher loved it.)

Sophia,
Oh hon, I’m so sorry that this pregnancy has been so rough on you. Hopefully you are nearing the end of the m/s. If I remember correctly, mine peaked around 9 weeks and then started to get better.

Kim,
The drama! I can’t believe you are doing the Baptism AND the party in the same week! You seriously are Wonder Woman. Sorry to hear about the truck. Hopefully it gets repaired soon so you can get out there and knock off some things on your To-Do List. I love the video! I don’t think Thomas liked his cupcake. ;)

Dreshny,
Can’t wait to see pics. That’s too funny about the cream cheese. Caroline will eat some of the strangest combinations of food. I don’t think it even occurs to them. Cheam Cheese…Good! Cupcake….Good!

First Day in New Classroom
She did very well. She went a little nuts when DH dropped her off, but they said as soon as he was gone she stopped crying and started looking for her breakfast. An emotional eater, just like her Mom. When I picked her up, she was kind of sitting off by herself playing happily. I went over to greet her and she got so excited she threw her head back, slamming it on to the floor. Poor little thing. Her day started and ended on a bad note. :( I do have to speak with her new teachers about what she can and can not have, as they gave her juice yesterday. Yeah, I know…it’s not like she drank Clorox or anything, but I really want to hold off on juice for a while. She gets plenty of fruit and I really don’t see a need for it. I’d rather her drink water and milk.

Which leads me to my QOTD…

Now that our babies are hitting the one year mark, is there anything your are still not allowing them to have?

Besides the obvious soda and junk food. Obviously, I still feel pretty strongly about juice. But I also do not want to introduce peanut butter or any peanut product until she is 3, based on the recommendation of my Allergy/Asthma Dr. (even though there is no peanut allergy in the family). Everything else, I’m starting to loosen up on now that she is in the new room at dc. I think we’ll even start eggs this week.

Liz: I know, 10 teeth is crazy! We're hoping he'll have all 20 of his baby teeth by the time the new baby comes, so we won't have to deal with teething X 2! I hope Caroline had fun in her new classroom!

Sophia: So sorry m/s is being so wicked to you. I hope itt doesn't last much longer.

Kim: That video is sooo cute! Thomas looks like he was getting in to it pretty good! That sucks about your truck. It figures it'd happen when you need it most. Murphey's Law.

Naamah:Teeth are a whole new world! LOL! As Liz pointed out... I am very pleased I'm not nursing anymore! Sorry that DH's last day was so stressful.

Roseanne:Can't wait to see the pictures of Asher's party.
Happy Birthday Asher!

New Foods: I've definitely started being more lenient on what he can and can't try. I do put a splash of juice in his water at lunch. I mean like 5 oz of water and a tablespoon of juice. He usually drinks plain water or milk. The boy LOOOOVES milk. I've done egg yolks, but I was thinking about starting scrambled eggs using the whites, too. I guess I haven't really thought about it too much.:p

Asher had a little playgroup party this morning (yes, his third party this week!) and he's currently completely passed out on our bed. I'm thinking of taking him to Kiddie Kandids today just for fun and then to the park afterwards. DH and I are taking him out to dinner tonight and letting him taste our dessert. It is going to be short as I MUST get to bed.

It has been a really hectic week here between the holiday weekend last week, and there is a Jewish holiday this week, Friday and Saturday. I have been cleaning and cooking like a maniac and wondering what possessed me to invite any company at all. Most days I can barely manage to get dinner done

Dreshny - Happy birthday Asher!

Sophia - Sorry you are still feeling miserable

Nat - Sorry that DH didn't get the job -- though it must be a relief not to have to move again.

New foods - No juice, cookies/cake/sweets

Liz - glad to hear that Caroline seems to be adjusting to the new room.

Kim - Thomas and his cupcakae are adorable. I keep talking myself out of getting that t-shirt for Avi.... I am sure I will cave one of these days. Good luck with getting everything together for the baptism and party.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!

dreshny
I always knew Asher was a party animal. ;) But my favorite part of the video wasn't Asher (or Bella) reaching for the cupcake...it was hearing Nicole tell us there were 2 kinds of frosting and seeing you out of the corner of my eye LEAP from your seat saying "Really?" and making the mad dash to the tray. :p A girl after my own heart!

ally
Yes, he was going from hat to "credit card" to cupcake...too funny.

I Get So Emotional Baby
I can't FREAKING BELIEVE in 2 days my wee little baby boy is going to be a 1 year old toddler in his 2nd year of life. YIKES!  Tom and I keep looking at each other and saying "Can you believe it? I can't believe it!".
He was born at 1:13pm, so we will just be starting the music entertainment at his party when he actually turns one. So if I start crying at my party when everyone else is laughing and singing, just don't mind me...

Diet Restrictions
We still don't give him peanut butter, egg whites, higher-choking-hazard foods (like grapes), juice, and the obviously unhealthy stuff. I'll talk to the Ped next week about introducing peanut butter, since there's no allergies to nuts in either of our families and I have friends with older kids so it will be tough to always avoid nut exposure since most eat PB&J on a regular basis. I'd rather introduce it to him and be aware to watch for trouble.
He gets egg whites *in* foods, but I haven't cooked him an entire egg to eat yet. I'm guessing I'll get the okay soon. Juice just bugs me, especially with the whole obesity and cavity things. Just want to avoid the habit. He's happy with formula & water now.

Speaking of which, I was to ask my Ped about introducing whole milk in lieu of formula next week but on Tuesday Thoams drank about 5oz of it from his friend's cup he stole - he loved it! Lol! And he had no issues with it.

Party Errands
So yesterday morning my friend calls, and she had the runs all morning! So we had to wait until about 12 before she felt good (she's positive it was something she ate) and she could pick me up to do errands. Then DS and her DD got frustratedly tired so we couldn't finish it all. MIL gets in from chicago around 11am, and I asked her to come here to watch Thomas and let me borrow her rental car to do errands for an hour or so before she heads to Brooklyn to see her friends. She seemed okay with it - I just feel bad, because the friend she is seeing has MS so it's not like she can hop in a car and come here...but MIL will be able to spend from about 2-5pm with her.

The truck will be ready this afternoon, but it was like pulling teeth getting Tom to tell me what was wrong. But he's going to try to get out of work early today to pick it up and be home for when his parents get back (MIL is picking FIL up at the airport at 6pm).

So then tomorrow I have a list of things to do/order and clean the apartment up...plus MIL wants to go to Stride Rite to get DS his 1st pair of walking shoes. Whew! Its going to be a busy couple of days.

I think for the after-party back at our place I am only going to serve easy platters like meat & cheese, veggie & fruit crudite, and the like. And of course alcohol (thank goodness I'm not pg, because I could really use a drink after this week!!).

You women who are hosting parties right before DC’s party completely amaze me! I’m having a hard enough time just getting things ready for her party.

Kim
Glad the truck will be ready today. Why do things like this always happen at the worst times?
Juice just bugs me, especially with the whole obesity and cavity things. Just want to avoid the habit. He's happy with formula & water now.
My sentiments exactly. I’d probably be fine with a splash of juice in her water if it was the only way I could get her to drink water, but she loves it. I’ll introduce it when she’s older and can understand rationing. I just don’t want her to develop a taste for it to where it is all she will drink, like many of my friends/family members kids do.

Whole milk we are up to half milk/half formula right now and will be starting 3/4 milk/1/4 formula this week.

tgr Happy Anniversary!

Dropping a bottle So I haven't pushed dropping bottles yet (Aiden still drinks a lot) and he love his water at meals in his sippy but he had decided to drop, all off bottles, his nightime one. The last 3 nights he has flat out refused and I have been able to get him to drink it while in his a crib (a habit I do not want to start). However, last night he wanted nothing do to with it and slept better then he has in weeks! What the heck!! Too funny. Not sure if it is his teeth or he just doesn't want it. Leave it do my kid to drop that one first :)

spps: Happy Shavout!!

Ugh, I was just ordering fruit salad, seltzer, chips, and lemonade for Asher's NYC party on Sunday, and FreshDirect (the NYC delivery supermarket) had no open slots for Saturday night delivery and nothing on Sunday until 1-3 PM! My party STARTS at 1! Guess I'll be hauling drinks and chopping fruit along with making all the other food. :(

spps~Good luck with the house cleaning. I really need to get on mine.

Kim & LIZ~Thanks for the anniversary wishes! ITA with these two statements whole-heartedly! Juice just bugs me, especially with the whole obesity and cavity things. Just want to avoid the habit. He's happy with formula & water now. I just don’t want her to develop a taste for it to where it is all she will drink, like many of my friends/family members kids do.

Whole Milk~As soon as these two containers of formula get low, we'll be introducing milk! So glad we won't be having to purchase formula anymore. That stuff is expensive!

Dropping the Bottle~I'll be working on this as we transition to whole milk. DH and I had already made the decision to do this, but now MIL is telling us we had better hurry because she isn't going to have a grandchild who is still in bottles as a toddler!

Dreshny~Ick! That stinks.

Happy Birthday Rhiley!

Thanks Naamah. That's my little duck man! Sorry to hear about the migraine. Yuck. I use to get them before I was pg with Collin, but haven't had one since.*knocking on wood*

Spps: I'm sure you will get everything together for your celebrations. Deep breaths! :p

Kim: Man oh man, you are not catching a break here! Thank goodness the truck will be fixed. I hope you get everything done without going insane! :D

Emotional: yeah, count me in. I can't believe my little bug is almost 1! I'm sure I'll be even more emotional as the day gets closer. :o

Milk: We're basically on whole milk. I mix in formula with his night feeding and sometimes in the morning (when I remember). He loveeees his whole milk. He sucks it down like it's a special treat.:D

Happy Birthday to Rhiley and belated Happy Birthday to Asher! Our first official toddlers!

Add me to the list of emotional ones, especially now that DD has almost weaned herself. She only nurses at night before bed and goes down without a bottle easily for DH if I'm working so I could probably drop it. But I don't because it's my last nursing connection with her, my hungry little baby who used to eat every 3 hrs, grunt loudly and latch with a vengence. Oh, sniff, sniff, already. DH seems totally immune to this and embrances toddlerhood with excitement.

Julie ~ Love the new bath photo of Collin. Too cute!

Naamah ~ Sorry about the migraine! Hope you are feeling better today. Has your DH made his job switch yet? I look forward to watching the Shylah video at home. It never works right here at work.

Liz ~ Hope Caroline is doing well in her new room today.

Kim ~ Glad you are getting your truck back. What a hassle, though. It always seems like car trouble comes at the worst times.

ssps ~ Wow- you've got a busy weekend! I'm sure you'll have a great time. Will there be family? At least they're usually good about helping watch/play with the baby.

Roseanne ~ Maybe the grocery store can work you in? Or DH could pick up after work on Friday?

Okay, I know I've missed a few things so please forgive me. Got the plates, silverware, cups, napkins, candle (though we won't be using that one to burn and will get another one to actually burn), and a few other things for DD's first birthday party yesterday. And also some birthday presents. It's easy to do it now when she is with us even though she doesn't know what we are getting are presents. That will change when she gets older.

We didn't even attempt to go to the wedding or reception over the weekend. We simply didn't have enough time. We didn't get to leave the family reunion as planned (having too much fun) so we didn't make it in time for the class picture for my class reunion. I hated that I didn't make it in time for that but I'm hoping one of my friends will email it to me when they get theirs. I got the most comments on how much I'd changed since high school. I was half expecting to hear my name called for the award for the one who had changed the most.

My SIL is driving me up a wall (started last week) about comments that I don't have a job so I can stay up until whenever DD goes to sleep since DH can't because he has a job to get up to go to. So I guess taking care of an 11 month old baby isn' considered a job. I do have things to do (things she doesn't even have any idea about). We were told several months ago that we had to be at the family reunion but she doesn't have to go. Her DH (my DH's brother) had to work and she didn't want to go without him. But we had a ton of things to do (wedding, class reunion activities, things going on in town, wanted to ride in a parade with the horses) but we still made it there. All she could say was that she wanted us to take lots of pictures. (I guess it was quite fine that I had to attend a family wedding a few months ago without DH and that was just fine. SIL made me feel out of place there as well. She and our other SIL were buddy/buddy and shared a pizza and never once bothered to ask me if I wanted to share it with them. My other SIL has treated me like I never existed since the day I met her and know it will never change. So I've learned to accept that.)

She's also made comments about the fact that my mom should just pay someone X amount of money everyday to stay with my dad. That's fine but if she were to do that then she'd have $8/9 dollars left over at the end of the day. When I told my mom what SIL said, she said I don't make what he makes and if she wants to help out then she can. Until then I'll do what I feel I can.

Another day SIL wanted to watch DD while I went to therapy. About 10 minutes before I was going to leave my mom called, told me some stuff going on with hospice and wanted to watch DD. So I let her as I felt she needed the break and DD was just the person to lift her spirits. With all of that I totally forgot to call SIL and tell her. She ripes me up one side and down the other. I said I was sorry and told her a million things were going on that day and it totally slipped my mind (besides she had offered about a week before and never really ever got back to me about if it was fine...it seemed like she had other things she wanted to do when we all talked about it - said something about that being the same time that she and another person went walking or running or something like that). Last Friday she had made plans to bring some of DD's spoons by that were at her house (apparently her two girls had let DD play with them when we were there one night and kindly forgot to put them back in the diaper bag). I'd turned the house upside down looking for them thinking I'd missplaced them. So she asked if we'd be around (granted there was an event for the class reunion on Friday that we had considered going to for just a little while). I told her that we would probably be around (going out to eat, and a few other errands) but to call on the cell phones. So between 9 and 9:30 when we hadn't heard from her we find out she is back home. I ask her if she forgot to call or bring the spoons by. She gets all defensive and says that she never said she would bring them by, just that she might. I said no, you specifically asked if we'd be home or around so you could bring them by when you were in town. Then she starts getting really defensive and rude to me. I said fine. Just forget the darn spoons I'll buy more tomorrow when I'm at the store. Then she really starts getting pissy. She tells me that we won't be at the family reunion long if we are going shopping. I say that we have one stop to make which involves picking up some supplies for DD's birthday party invitations and to get something to take to eat (they provided the meat and everyone was asked to bring a side dish). I didn't feel like making something, hauling it 2 hours there, having it sit outside, and then hauling it back again. But I guess that was totally wrong on me.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Happy Birthday Rhiley!!!

Whole Milk ~ We aren't going to be switching to it unless DD's doctor suggests it at her 1 year WBV. I'm pretty sure that we might be going to the next step formula for a little while and then transition. I don't drink whole milk (never have) and plan on asking DD's doctor if the one I drink is fine for her.

Dropping the bottle ~ DD still isn't fond of sippy cups so we are still using bottles. I've tried many different things and she won't even attempt to take formula from a sippy cup. Anyone have any suggestions?

Roseanne ~ That's the pits. Maybe like the others have said, call and explain the situation and maybe they can work you in. Can your DH pick them up for you? Or go with another store all together (is that even available or is it just one that delivers...can you tell I've never been to NYC)?

Namaah ~ Congrats on the pulling up. It's been going on around here for so long that I forgot when it first started (maybe January). Migraines are the worst kind of headaches. I used to have them and basically leave me unable to do anything for days. I've had a few of them since DD was born.

Happy Birthday to Rhiley and belated Happy Birthday to Asher! Our first official toddlers!

"Toddler" is right! We had a total toddler moment tonight. I knew Asher was emptying the bathroom trash while I filled the tub for him, and I was just going to clean it up after he finished exploring. But then DH came home, and I turned my back to say hi to him, and when I turned back to Asher, there was trash floating in the tub, and the little stinker was trying to throw his leg over the tub and climb in himself!

Cute baby moment: We were in our fourth store today looking for a baby item they didn't have (a Nuby sippy), and in frustration I muttered to Asher, "that's it, we'll have to go to Buy Buy Baby tomorrow," and he answered "Bye bye!" :D

Fruit salad fiasco update: After being snooted at and hung up on by FreshDirect's competitor (Fairway, for anyone who cares) who wanted to charge me $90 for a fruit platter for 20 people (, even by NYC standards!), I think we're going to place an order for one at Whole Foods (for the MUCH more reasonable price of $35) that DH will pick up Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Happy Birthday to Rhiley and belated Happy Birthday to Asher! Our first official toddlers!

:( Sniff Sniff! You forgot my little guy Douglas and Sophia's Alexa. They were toddlers last week!! ;)

Whole Milk Doc said to go ahead and give it to him. He only took a 8-12 oz bottle of formula a day so it wasn't a huge change. He gradually added whole milk to his bottle and now it's 100% whole milk. He really likes it a lot better than the formula!

Bottle / sippy cup He only takes 1 bottle a day and I have been trying to give him the milk in his sippy cup but it takes him forever to drink it that way. My mom doesn't do as I wish and gives it to him in the bottle. Luckly I only have 2 more weeks of school and then I have the summer of to get him on track! :)

Meri,
Sorry for all the drama! :(

Roseanne,
I'm LMAO at the trashy bathtub. That little Asher is so mischeivious!

Dropping Bottle
DD takes her water from a sippy, but still drinks her formula and BM from a bottle. I’ve tried once or twice to give it to her in a sippy, but she won’t take a whole feeding. Just a couple of swallows. Once she starts on Whole Milk, I plan to experiment more. Milk is a lot cheaper than formula or BM. I won’t mind as much if it doesn’t get drank.

Sippy I got him to finally drink some milk from his sippy while playing last night. He refused the bottle again. However, this time he slept like crap and was up at 6 to pee :)

Yup, Alexa's a keeper! Thanks for the compliments. Liz, the first set is Snapfish and the second set is Koday Gallery. Is your firewall at work set up to screen out Kodak? Is anyone else not seeing the second set?

To follow the previous conversation, we will be starting whole milk in a few days. We still have a couple of cans of free formula that I want to use up and then we are on to whole milk. I'm very relieved because the smell of the formula makes me gag! The soy was the worse but even the milk based stuff is nasty!

Hey Meri, I totally agree that SILs can real PITAs sometime. You know how there's a "MIL from Hell" thread in Emotional Support? We should do the same thing for SILs!
Yes, Sophia we should. Do you have a PITA SIL as well. I guess I could say that I've got two of them, though one of them just started being that way. Usually she has always been nice and friendly to me. Adorable pictures. I love the ballerina dress.

Mrs.Chappy ~ I had to do ally's trick to be able to see Sophia's second set of pictures as well as yours. Now when I hit the reply button I'm able to see both sets of pictures. How strange is that? How much did you get cut off? Is your hair naturally curly? I have natural wave to mine (didn't get as much as my dad has but if I keep it short enough it definitely has it's own wave. I'm wondering if DD isn't going to have wavy/curly hair as well. It is showing some signs at the back of her neck.)

sippy ~ DD will drink water from a sippy and has even gotten out a bottle from the diaper bag and proceeded to drink the entire 4/6 oz (don't remember what was in the bottle) of water. Surprised the heck out of us because up until then she never wanted anything to do with water.

Happy Birthday, Sophia!!

We were visiting with our friends from Indiana last night (they are leaving today to go to his mom's and then leaving the weekend to head back home) and their little boy (they have 3 other kids) is 15 months old and just started walking. DD was absolutely in awe of him and his older brother (but she was in awe of the older brother who is 4/5 at Christmas when they were back). They all said that it would just be a matter of weeks before she was walking. So I guess we will wait and see if they are correct.

Mrs.Chappy ~ The first I had my hair cut I got about 8 inches cut off and my first thought was I have no hair left. My hair was down to my waist at the time so I guess that was probably a natural reaction. It was also the first time I'd ever had any of it cut off besides the trims. I can only imagine what humid days are like. Hope you don't have too many of them. You certainly wouldn't want to live around here. We have quite a few humid days.

Hope Everyone had a great weekend. I'm exhausted. So far, exhaustion and some mild off and on nausea have been the worst of my m/s, so keep your fingers crossed for me that it doesn't get worse. ;)

Kim ~ Happy Birthday, Thomas! Can't wait to see his party and baptism photos!

Hang in there, Natalie. It is amazing to me how much more work DD is without DH for even a brief break. I just don't know how the single moms do it. Is your weather nice? Maybe you could pack a picnic lunch and drive to explore a new park somewhere? I found that getting out of the house really helps pass the time.

Julie ~ Glad to hear you are feeling so well! Crossing everything that it stays that way.

Sophia ~ Love Alexa's party photos! That dress is sooo cute. Such the little princess. I agree that she really resembles you. You look so happy in the photo where you're looking down at her. I'm sorry about the migranes. I count myself extremely lucky that I've only had one ever.

Father's Day ~ Don't really have any great gift ideas. I came up with a photo calendar with her monthly photos for his office, but nothing else. Anyone have any great ideas?

Sorry to any toddlers' feelings I may have inadvertantly clipped last week. I worked about 100 hrs last week and wasn't too happy since I didn't have much time with DD. Anyway, I saw the calendar change to June and thought of our first actual June birthdays, not to eclipse our "June" babies in May.

Maggie: Great pictures of Ava! She's adorable. What is it you do, exactly?

Happy birthday to Thomas! I know Kim has some great pictures, 'cause I was there. :D

And I need to post some of mine, too, at some point. We had Asher's friend party in the park today, and it was lots of fun. I have a pile of thank-you notes to write now, though. A friend of ours gave us a full NYC zoo membership today (includes free admission all year to the Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, Queens Zoo, and NY Aquarium for me and Asher plus a friend [Kim or Ally, wanna go?]) and I'm kind of flabbergasted. I mean, it's an awesome gift, but wow.

maggie Ava is such a cutie. The pictures turned out great! Sorry you had a loooong week last week! I try to get out of the house everyday - Addie seems happier that way. I think this week we'll go to the park one day, one day we'll be preparing for Addie's bday party, one day we have a class at church, so we should survive. I'm with you-I have NO idea how single moms do it.

Sorry, but I rarely get over here on the weekends. Hope the party was a success! I can’t wait to see pictures!

Dresh,
Wow…that’s some present! I’m sure you’ll make good use of it. I have fond memories of going to the Bronx Zoo as a child.

Maggie,

The cake I made. Excuse the ice crystals. We had no room left in the fridge, so I had it in the freezer before the party. The kid is OBSESSED with balloons. :)

Kim~Love the video!!

Ally~Aiden looks adorable! You did a great job!

Roseanne~Asher is such a doll! I love the cake!

Not much going on here. Last night I finally got a rolling pin! That's right we've been married 4 years, and I've never had one. I just don't bake. :o Anyway, so now I can actually start on the cake topper/decoration today amidst all the usual cleaning.

Roseanne: Glad the friends party went well. Asher is a doll. What an awsome gift! Man, I'd love something like that. Your cake looks yummy.

Ally:Aiden looks soo grown up. He's adorable.

Sophia - alexa looks like she had a blast at her party
Maggie - Ava pics are adorable. I love the cupcake shots.
Ally - Love the haircut. Aiden look like such a little boy now. I was in tears when we came home from DS's first haircut too. My husband of course thought it was about time that Avi had a haircut and that I was crazy.
Dreshny - That is a great looking cake and of course Asher is adorable.

So the holiday was really nice, everything came together at the last minute. The highlight for Avi though was that he got to eat his first cheesecake. I only gave him a bite but I think he could have polished off the whole thing.

Then Sunday, we took him to his first parade in NYC. He loved it. The marching bands, clowns, floats, and having all the marchers wave back at him. Here he is taking it all in.

http://images1.snapfish.com/346%3C78%3B79%7Ffp344%3Enu%3D3249%3E379%3E8%3C%3B% 3EWSNRCG%3D32337%3A425496%3Bnu0mrj

Now that that is all over it is off to finish the birthday party prep for Sunday!

Natalie ~ Thanks! Do you recognize your bow? Matches her birthday dress / outfit perfectly! My mother will eat it up this weekend for sure.

ally ~ Thanks! Love Aiden's new hair cute- looks like a little boy. There is no way I'd touch my baby's hair either. We have some childhood photos of me after my father butched my bangs once. Ava probably needs a trim but I am stalling b/c I don't trust anyone around here.

Julie ~ Thanks! Is Collin's party this weekend or next?

Roseanne ~ Thanks! Asher looks too cute at his party! What an awesome birthday gift- I bet you will get a lot of use out of it. Your cake is totally impressive! I am trying to make Ava's cookie favors and even trimming the cookies' edges with icing is hard to me- my lines look squiggly. I am fighting my perfectionist nature and comparing them to the professional store ones. DH keeps pointing out that they are edible so people aren't going to look at them that closely ;). I am an anesthesiologist and was at the VA Hospital last week. I am taking next week off for a week-long vacation at the beach with my family! Can't wait!

Kim ~ Great Thomas video! Can't wait to see the photos! You must be exhausted.

Namaah ~ Thanks! Too funny about the rolling bin. We were married for several years before we got one. I thought DH had one already so never bought/registered for one. He probably lost it somewhere.

Liz ~ Ah, thanks! Of course, I think she's beautiful, but you know how other's compliments make your momma pride swell.

Irritation: The daycare fed Ava eggs last week and today for breakfast- I had asked them not to, as we hadn't introduced them yet. Well, this weekend she's had some bumps on her face. Not typical of an allergy rash, but now I have to wonder b/c I found out she got the eggs on Friday. I'm trying not to be too annoyed, but still. Errr. On a positive note, they are having water splash fun on Thursday at daycare so she has to bring swim diaper, suit and towel. Hope they remember to take some photos!

Okay, well the cake decorations were a no-go. :( I couldn't get the color right, and all my bow pieces were really flimsy. I think I am going to buy just a plain old pkg bow and use the icing for the ribbon that goes around the gift. I think if I brush on the color it will be bright enough!

Love the new avatar, Meri. Very nice!

Tgr-I like your plan for the cake. Post pictures of it when you are done.
I had big plans to make an ice cream to feed 50 people for Alexa's birthday than I got real and ordered a $14.95 cake from Costco. I mean, who was I trying to kid? ;)

Mrs.Chappy ~ I had really short hair when DH and I got together and he wanted me to grow my hair back out. I like having short hair (easy to take care of and shows off the natural wave more) but I don't mind having shoulder length (which I have now). DH would like to see me grow it longer but I don't think I will. I had it down to my waist when I was growing up and it was kind of a pain to take care (had to be in a braid or ponytail in order to keep from getting in a knot).

Happy Belated Birthday, Thomas!

Nat ~ Hope the next few days pass by quickly. It's no fun being alone (even though you had little Addie with you). BTW, I haven't forgotten about the bows. I got a picture back last night that shows off just how much hair she really has on top of her head. I'll post it later.

Maggie ~ Wonderful pictures!!

Roseanne ~ Glad to hear that the party went so well. Congrats on the wonderful zoo membership gift. We are going to renew our zoo membership (and we get to go to participating member zoos at no cost. Hopefully this summer we can go to some around here - it will be a drive but that's fine.). I really would like to take her to the zoo on her b-day but not sure if that will work out or not.

kim ~ That video is absolutely wonderful. I love when they clap. Sarah does it and it just makes me smile (she started doing to at my cousin's nursing pinning a couple weeks ago). Thomas is such a little cutie pie!!

ally ~ Such a little cutie pie!

Roseanne ~ Wonderful job on the cake. Care to pass a piece through to me? Nice pictures of the birthday as well.

Ladies ~ Glad to hear that you like the avatar. I was happy with it but I thought I'd see what you all thought of it.

Meri: Love the avatar! Thanks for keeping this thread going. ;)

Spps: Great pics! Avi looks like he's enjoying himself.

Maggie: Collin's party is this weekend. I'm soooo exhausted, I don't know how I'm going to get everything ready. Yikes that DC gave Ava eggs! I'd be annoyed too. How do they know she's not allergic. That would have been emabarrassing if she had some reaction and they had to call you at work! uggg. I am an anesthesiologist
I love anesthesiologists! ;) The man who did my epidural was a invaluable.

Oh Naamah, Sorry the decorations aren't working out. At least you know now and can work on a new game plan. ;)

Just thought I'd tell you all that as I type this Collin is running around with a cheerio in his mouth that he found on the floor. Oh well. :p At the same time He's dragging around my Parent's magazine and ripping the pages out. Does that make me a bad mom? LOL!

hi..i'm so consumed with the birthday party i'm neglecting everything. Just stuffed the goody bags. Ordered the cake, fruit platter..
in the middle of everything i decided Ben needed his first pair of s hoes/sandals so dragged him to Nordstroms where a very nice gentleman fit him with the cuttest ECCO shoes. He took them off in another store of the mall an my $50 almost went out the window. I feel like my life is one big list. This party is sunday, then DH's birthday and father's day is the following weekend. Oye, i'm sure i'll catch up on this thread sometime in July. In the meantime, everytime i sing Happy Birthday to DS he laughs...its not officially until thursday but i've already started celebrating (and re-counting my labor story).

OK, no time for shout outs..i have to go back and re-read the past few days.

julie Almost everyday while I take a shower Addie rips up magazines (and eats pages). Yes I've found pieces in her poop!
tgr I'm impressed that you are making your cake--pictures please! Oh and I have a rolling pin but it has never been used! :p
maggie I thought that was the bow I made! I'm glad it matched Ava's bday outfit!
spps Avi is too cute- I love that hat!
ally Aiden's haircut is adorable!
roseanne It looks like Asher had a great birthday week! Great photos by the way

We've been staying busy the past few days. Luckily our friends from church have adopted us this week-taking us out to lunch, inviting us over for dinner, calling to check on me. It's been awesome.

Today we went swimming with some friends and had so much fun. It was a little wading pool that got deeper gradually and Addie just kept crawling her way into the deeper water even though her face was going under. She's definitely not afraid of the water. Now she's taking a long nap-reminder to self-when Addie won't sleep take her swimming to wear her out! ;)

MrsChappy: I hear ya about the party being all consuming! I hope everything turns out well. I'm sure Ben will have a great time at his party. :)

Nat: LOL! I keep pulling the paper out of his mouth, but I'm waiting to find it in his diaper! Glad that the people from your church are keeping you busy. DH will be back before you know it.

Julie ~ You must be exhausted as well! I am running around, trying to pack for our beach trip and get everything ready for Ava's party. I can only imagine being pregnant at the same time! Whew! I'm glad your epidural worked well. I'm a big fan of the pull-it-and-start-again when it isn't working well- I hate limping along with a crappy epidural. You had a C/S, right? You'll probably schedule a repeat so they may offer you a spinal instead of epidural. Same great effect, only faster :)

Namaah ~ Hats off to you for making DD's cake. I'm going the Publix route ;) I know several people that have wrapped real ribbon around cakes for effect. I think they used the cloth kind and just pulled it off before cutting.

Natalie ~ Glad you have been adopted! Ava also tears up our magazines constantly, mostly DH's b/c he's lazy to leave his in her reach. I only do so once I've read it. We put DD in a kiddie pool last weekend and she loved it- slept well afterward, too!

mrs. Chappy ~ I totally understand your party whirlwind. I'm glad you found the shoes- that would have sucked the lose them so soon. I'm trying the get my Father's Day gift together right now. I would be lost if DH's birthday was now too.

Sophia~Thanks! I'll definately post pics! ;) I thought about going the Wal-Mart route, but I just couldn't find anything there I liked.

Julie~Yeah, like a mad dash to Wal-Mart a couple of days before! :p I've been lurking in the June 06 thread as well! One of my journal buddies is due any minute. Did you read that crazy birth story?

MrsChappy~Good luck with the upcoming celebrations!!

Nat~No worry! I'll be posting pics! Glad to hear Addie is a little fish! Sounds like the time is flying by since the church is checking in on you!

Kelsey~If all else fails, I'll be picking up some ribbon from the craft department and going that route!

Just sicked DD on the cat to give me a few moments! LOL! :p

Still in the midst of party planning. With DD's birthday falling on Father's Day this year, I'll be pulling double duty. Still haven't even started on DH's father's day stuff.

Maggie: I'll definitely be scheduling the c/s this time. I'm not going through that drama again. :o Today we have to run to the grocery store and get as much as we can for the party. Hopefully, Collin will take a nap,so we can go soon.

I’ve been so busy, I can barely keep up with this thread. I am reading along though. :)

Hey, I’ve got a good idea…a little late, but better late than never. As our babies birthday’s approach, I encourage anyone who feels like resharing their birth story to share again. Things were so crazy this time last year, that I fear I missed many-a-birth.
