Hi all,

Our very close friends will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary soon and we want to give them something nice. They have just about everything, so we need ideas!

Help! All suggestions welcome!

I think 40th = Ruby

You could do a ruby-colored vase filled with nasturtiums which, apparently, is the offical 40th wedding anniversary flower--who knew?

Or some other type of Ruby glassware--goblets, bowl, etc. . .

This is very pretty:

The vases are beautiful! I know that they like red - at least the wife does.

We had thought of getting them some kind of plant/tree/bush for their yard, but something indoor might work best.

For my inlaws 40th, I got a smaller "ruby" red vase (like the one above, but smaller) and then a gift certificate to Ruby Tuesday for something fun.
Just try to have fun with the word "ruby".

I did a search on "ruby tree" and this Empress Ruby Tree (http://www.worldtreetech.com/splendor/products.cfm) came up if you are still thinking foliage. :)

Maybe a gift certificate or something like that to take an adult ed class together. I would guess they probably have all the house stuff they need after 40 yrs of marrage. But learning something new together could help them learn new things about themselves and each other when they thought they already knew it all.
