period I wasn't able to BF, so I got my period back at 3 mo PP and have had it like clockwork ever since. Now I'm back on the pill.
#2 We want to space them three years apart so we will start trying in the summer of '08. We'll be doing Shettles for a girl, so I'll be charting.
teeth DS only has one, and I can't tell that anymore are emminent.

tuni love your santa pic it's adorable! we may try to go tomorrow.
shannon great idea on the ornament, i'm going to try to find a kit this week! also your 'toothsolo' pic is adorable and your xmas card pic is perfect. we haven't been so successful in that department. we're going for round 3 soon. we had a gorgeous 65+ degree day here last week, so we tried pics at the beach, but my usually smiley guy didn't want to smile, and my dog was so psyched to run around she had drool with sand all over her face. so needless to say my pics weren't very festive.
junk i love all of pierson's hair! and the pics you posted of santa and his kk visit are too cute!
teeth still only 2 on the bottom, which arrived in sept. he's been drooling, chewing, congested with a little runny nose, so i think somethings going on.
af i'm still bf, but she came back for me 5 months pp and with a vengance! cramps and heavy flow, just like high school. oh the joys! the first couple cycles were 30+ days long, but my last was 29 which was the usual pre-baby.
ttc#2 i originally thought we'd start ttc next july/august because i liked the timing as far as weather and being able to get out of the house. not so sure how i'd do in the dead of winter. we've had a few oops's the last couple months, but nothing. it took us so long for ds who knows what's in store for #2. dh is ready now, but i'd ideally like to wait at least until january. i know mrs had posted that she has been trying since shortly after ds and she hasn't checked in in awhile, so maybe she's our first ro?
ktdop your xmas cards came out great!
jennw good to know about your new biz. i would have loved to use you for xmas cards, but seeing we haven't taken 'the' pic yet, it's probably too late. unless you could make something i could adhere my picture too?

Gosh, I've got load to catch up on...can't believe how big all the March babies are getting!
We had our 9mo WBV last week..
Weight: 22 lbs 12 oz
Height: 29.75'
We had a scary week, which began with Declan projectile vomiting at the Thanksgiving dinner table. Lets just say we will never forget his first Thanksgiving. First we thought it was the stomach bug that was going around his daycare...but he was diagnosed with an ear infection which I learned can cause vomiting. Took him about a week to fully recover, during which I was thrown up upon more than I care to remember. It was awful...
But he's baaack! He's a crawling machine these days, though he seems more interested in pulling himself up and cruising. Not much sitting down these days when he's awake!
Thanksgiving Day (about 2 hours before it all began...poor guy looks a little green in the pic)

teeth: 8!
TTC #2: Thinking May/June
Sleep: He goes down easily but wakes during the night and comes in with us. We're in a 1br, so its easiest all around...and we really enjoy having him in bed with us.
AF: ~6mo PP (stopped nursing at 3mo).
Will be back once caught up!

I love when I come in and there are so many posts to read!!
Thankfully we haven't joined the "no sleep" club, infact Logan pulled his first all nighter this week! He wakes up once a night usually, so I'm happy with that. he falls back to sleep after nursing. We never did CIO, we stuck with NCSS, which i'm happy about since it worked so well for us.
Teeth - two bottoms, and I think the two top are *thisclose* to coming through. He's got all the signs like with his bottom teeth, but he also has a nasty cold/cough, so who knows.
Period - Nothing here yet, HOOZAH!! Of course between still nursing exclusively (my kid hates solids) and having PCOS, I kinda expect not to see it for a very long time. Which is ok for now, since DH and I aren't watching what we do in the TTC department!
TTC#2 - We're not preventing, but like I said above I think there's a slim to none chance of getting pregnant. Logan was our miracle no meds baby, so this next one will mos tlikely be quite planned with emdical personel involved ;) I've decided on a change of careers, so depending on how that goes we'll see. I'd rather sooner than later though.
playing - ok, I'll admit it, I miss the newborn days when all it was was nursing, diapers and snuggling. I sometimes feel a physical ache missing all the cuddles with my guy. He's very into doing things the same way every day, which means napping in his crib and not really snuggling, so I'm sad. Not to mention i hate scheduling my life around naps. I miss the portability of L as a younger baby. The playing is fun, I enjoy that, but keeping up with a lightning fast crawler whose sole mission in life is to find what makes mommy say "AHHH! NO" the loudest is hard. I'm a bad mom, aren't I?
tuni , count me in the liquered up nursing tribe! I've nursed while, *ahem*, nursing a beer myself.
shannon, I adore the ornaments! I need to see what I can find similar.
junk, ugh, sorry to hear about the photo experience! Love P's hair though!
ktdop, great pics!

Tracy - love those pictures -- HILARIOUS!!
Red - I totally miss the newborn days and I can't believe I'm saying this. I was so exhausted, drained and tired back then but my little guy really is a "little guy" at this point - he's hardly a baby anymore.
Brooke - Beautiful photos! I searched high and low for a red plaid jumper for my DS and couldn't find one anywhere! Where did you get it???
Shannon - You probably already know this but I was just reading my mail and received a beauty catalog that had fragrance called NOA in it!! I totally thought of you and your precious one ~
Okay, hoping to finish my holiday shopping today. Hugs and kisses and I'll check back later ladies!

brooke declan is beautiful! i love the navy plaid romper, will you share where you found that?
red i also feel like i'm saying no a lot. i need to get better at distraction, but that takes so much time away from me trying to get things done around the house.
tray those pics are hilarious. you must keep trying! you could have a card with several of the out-take pictures and the last one is of the perfect pose.
calling all almost walkers i broke down and bought this for james the other day. i felt he needed it now and we just couldn't wait until xmas. he's been pulling to stand since 7 months. he didn't have a walker and has been pushing his highchair around, but it's pretty cumbersome. this has great weight, stability and resistance and has been perfect for him. he's been pushing it around the house ever since. he doesn't really steer yet so we do need to clear a straight path for him. just wanted to recommend it if you're looking. i paid $90 for it at a local toy store, but just found it online for $62.99! if i didn't have it already assembled i'd return it...rats! grrrrrr.

elly, cool walker! what a great idea! You know, you can order hte new one, and then just take that one back with the other receipt. How would they know? ya know, I bet my DS would love that wlaker! Right now he's pushing toys and boxes around just for somethign to hold to. Of course his favourite is walking while holding on to one of your fingers, or holding onto your pants while walking. It's pretty cute :D I need to start concentrating on distracting as well. Thankfully there are only certain things that need a firm "no" from me, like hair pulling, cat grabbing and cord chewing :p If he's just throwing things, then I redirect. Too bad the pulling/chewing is what he loves best. guh :p
that reminds me...Anyone else having crazy problems with Hair pulling? DS grabs hair whenever he can and pulls for all he's worth. it hurts so much! I can't wear my hair down, and now he's even grabbing at the roots to pull it. It's to the point I can hardly get my head close to him without him pulling my hair. And it's not just me - any hair he can find. It's not fun trying to keep his hands away from other kids. Any suggestions? We've tried "Gentle" and prying his hand out, we've tried a firm "no"...I keep hoping he'll grow out of it, but it's only getting worse.

Lots of activity in here! What cute cute cute babies!!!:)
Possible stupid question: When your baby first pulled up, what did s/he pull up on? Owen still does not sit completely unsupported but he loves to stand. When I try and sit him up he pulls up on my hands to a standing position. He’ll stand holding my hands for a few minutes but then loses balance and falls over. I’m not sure if he’d pull up on his own since he doesn’t sit or really crawl (he’s doing the roll and scoot all over the house) but he gets so happy and all smiles when he stands. But I feel like I don’t really have anything the “right” height for this. What does your baby pull up on?
tray622
12-07-2006, 09:25 AM
jennw Do you have an activity table of sorts? Zoey first startd pulling up on stuff like that. Jocelyn isnt allowed by her sister to touch a darn thing in the house, so she began pulling up on the couch. It started though with half-pulling up on a toy. Where she was standing up but bent over having her weight on a smaller type toy. Watch... one day you will just walk in and see him standing in his crib or playpen :) I know a lot of babies who start there!

red_canuck Love that video.
Pulling up The first time he really did it he used my legs as I was sitting on the couch. He did it a few times in a row. I kept putting him down so he would do it again. And each time he got up he gave me a hugs smile and a sound that sounded like he was saying " I did it " Made me laugh.
ellybella That walker is great. I think I am going to look for one for Nicky, he would love to walk around with that . And it would save my back from killing me after walking all over with him holding my fingers. LOL
Hair pulling Oh yeah. All the time. And if he isn't going for hair he's going for whatever else he can get his hands on.
tray622 Those pictures are the best. They gave me a big smile.
TTC #2 Not here. I am done after one. He can be a spoiled little boy. DH is 40 and I am 36. I don't think either one of us can handle having another. We are both very happy with what we have.
AF Well, I didn't BF so it came back 8 weeks PP
Teeth His first one started to poop through last week. Still not out, but its getting there.

Wow, Lots of activity in here lately
TTC #2- Put me with would love to but can’t afford to right now. I am just finishing my masters, and will start law school probably next August. So After that we will have another one. Our first two will be further apart then I would like, but right now that is how we are handling things. I would like to have three kids total.
Pulling up: Count us in for everything she can pull up on she does. The couch the chair, the stairs, the crib, the tv stand, mommie and daddy. She loves it. She is so close to walking its sad. I am not ready for her to grow up so fast
Teeth: We have 2, and no signs of teething right now.
Sleep? What is that? She refuses to sleep, at night during the day. She is a catnapper. (takes after her daddy) I do plan to talk to the DR appt it at her 9 wbv. Some nights she will sleep in her crib half the night, and then in bed with us. Others she will not have the crib at all. I think its how tired she is.
Talking: We have a talker. She can now say Mommie, Daddy, Hi and Bye. SHE can wave hi and bye too. Its adorable. She is learning both English and Spanish and can understand it both. It used to be Bye in English she would clap her hands, and Adios she would wave, but now its both. She also knows when to use it. She mainly talks when she is mad and wants up.
Playing: I love the age she Is at. She loves to play with anything and everything. Her most recent game is fetch (he he) She will bring me a teether and then I will throw it. She will run after it and sit there and laugh hard. She will then bring it back to me. This seems to keep her entertained.
Hair Pulling: I know I am a mean mom, but every time she would pull my hair I would pulls her back (not hard but enough to show her it does not feel nice) Well she finally learned not to pull my hair, but will pet it The problem we have now is grabbing the face while she eats. She still will not hold a bottle for herself, or sippy cup so we hold it for her and while doing this we end up being scratched and or pinched.
I love all the pictures, hard to believe how fast time has flown by. I have already started planning her 1st birthday party.

Any particular type of picture?
I haven't picked one yet. I will try to tonight and post it.

Ok- I picked 4 to choose from. Here goes:

I'm thinking I like the last one the best, especially with it saying "Daddy's little buddy" Ok- well maybe I just answered my own question. If I use the last one I don't need a saying- the picture says it all.
What do you all think? Is it a nice gift. Or really not worth it?
Thanks so much!

bunny nose I have the same "Cute as can be" bib, and DS was wearing it today!
teeth Well, yesterday I posted that DS only has one tooth and no more were coming...wouldn't you know it, he made a liar out of me! I went to feed him his bottle this afternoon and surprise! Tooth #2 just broke through!
red canuck I miss all the cuddles with my little guy, too. Now he only cuddles when he's really tired. I knew it, too, back in the newborn days, I used to snuggle with him on the couch all the time because I knew he wouldn't want to snuggle forever!
Hair Pulling DS has gotten better about pulling hair - maybe my firm no's worked? What he does now is face grabbing - he'll grab my nose or pinch my cheek. Does not feel good. He's getting more firm no's.

Sam is getting that radio flyer wagon for Christmas from his Nana. Glad to hear that it's a hit!
[B]Hairpulling Occasionally, but he's easily redirected. He also has started biting me, usually on the shoulder. I just say no bite, it hurts mommy, and he's never done it again after that.
JennW
Sam started pulling up on this rubbermaid storage container I had for all of his rattles/little toys. I also have some old aerobic steps that I took out and he likes to pull up on them.

If you use the last picture, you are right, it kinda says it on there. I like the third one, such a cute smile! If you use that one, you could use Daddy's Lil' All Star or something because of the sheet in the back ground. Or if there is a phrase that you call him often, you could use that. Like we always call Sam a wiggle worm, so you could say Daddys Lil' Wiggle Worm.
I guess only you can judge if you think DH would like it (I'm sure he would). If you dont think he'd like a shirt per say, Snap Fish has tons of stuff you could put the picture on (though without a saying). I did a mug for fathers day and it turned out great!

Don't you love it?? Thanks JENN!!
More adorable pictures!
Junk: Awesome card! Wonderful work Jenn! When she posted, I had already bought 40 cookie cutters to make mine! Next year, it will be easier  !
Hair pulling: She has improved on this a great deal. Although, the other day she thought she could pull herself up holding onto my the hair on both sides of my head.
Birthday planning:  Heck yeah! Around here we have to give people at least 6 weeks notice when it comes to events, so I'll be sending ours our shortly after the new year. I am going to do the lime green/pink circle theme that everyone posted on the bday thread because the colors for our annual apple blossom festival party are pink and green, so I can recycle some of the stuff for that. I even ordered 6 yards of the disco dot fabric two months ago to make a few things fearing I might be able to get it at the last minute. Yep, you can put me up there in being insane, more stuff done for the bday party than for xmas!
So, my idea for xmas cards this year is martha stewart cookie cutter ornament. I did some picture taking and I won't be using these because I just don't think they go with the snowman cookie cutter. I was thinking about trying to find a top hat someplace. I could kick myself for not getting the bell cookie cutter because she loves playing with bells!
I love this one, but it wouldn't fly with dh! It is very fitting because like I said she loves bells and she puts everything in her mouth!

hairpulling subsided a bit lately, though he'll sometimes do it to get my attention when he's in bed with us...'wake up mommy' of sorts...what he has started to do is lunge for my nose. With his teeth, hurts like the dickens...
pulling up Declan started on the coffee table, now he's fully adept at pulling up most anywhere, which leaves little time for sitting these days!
junk Red tartan jumper was a hand me down from my sister in law - i'll check the label tomorrow. With 3 boy nephews, we're lucky to get a shipment of clothes every 4 months!
ellybella I love the navy jumper as well - thankfully it survived the Thankgiving day mess as Declan threw up all over everything... It was a gift from a friend who runs the website www.hamptonschild.com-- by Papo D'Anjo. Stuff runs small - jumper in the pic is 18mo. Not sure if she carries line anymore, but they have their own site as well www.papodanjo.com
birthday planning Not yet...we still have to figure out what we'll do. We're in a small NYC apartment and don't have the space. Other friends with kids have rented out restaurants, playspaces, etc...have to start brainstorming in the new year.

Just a quick post to say if any of you ladies out there read Parents mag. look for me in the Jan. issue! I was interviewed back in April about using the in-hospital specialist to deliver Julia... I think I mentioned that during the pg... Our insurance changed since a new hospital opened in our area and my dr didnt have delivery rights out there so I just delivered with the ob they had on staff... It worked out to be a great experiance! But if you read the article I'm the Kristine they mention from Washougal, Wa! :) They just emailed me today to say the issue is out, and I forgot to pick it up when we were out today... I just might have hubby do that for me tonight! ;)

Love all the photos and cards!! Adorable babies, all of them.
Kristine How exciting!!
birthday It's been in the back of my mind since my niece's birthday in August. I've already enlisted my sister to help with the cakes! :D It will most likely be a John Deere theme as both DH and I grew up on farms and my mom told me today that my dad has been going a little crazy with the John Deere toys for G. We already know he's getting a pedal tractor (not sure if he'll get it for Christmas or if my parents will save it until March) and at least 5-6 other John Deere related items.
I think ours will have to be the Sunday before G turns 1 as my DH coaches field events for a local college and he'll have meets almost every Saturday. The weekend after G turns one is the DIII Indoor Championships at the DH's alma mater and he's already been enlisted to help if no one from his school makes it.

Birthday party- I have given it a little thought, but not as much as you girls have. I don't think I am going to go with any kind of theme. Well, that's what I say now. We'll have to see. Maybe after the new year I will think about it more. It'll be a small party as I don't have much room int he house for a lot of people. And I really don't want to rent a hall or anything, so small scale here.

I love seeing everyones pictures and cards. I tried to take some photos to do a card, but couldn't get things to work out. I can't get both of the boys to sit still for a second! I think my standards may be too high. I mentally have an image of how I hope things will look and always end up disappointed, but we don't usually send out cards anyways so I'm not too upset that it didn't happen.
Birthdays - We are going to Hawaii (with the boys) for 2 weeks at the end of February and will be there for their birthday. I think we will try to do a small party the weekend after we get back.

Firstly, we had our WBV today. 29.75 inches / 20 lbs 4 oz. Head circ 17.5 and all seems to be very well. We are seeing the pediatric opthamologist because Pierson's left eye turns in a bit - my ped said let's be safe rather than sorry so we'll head in for that -- otherwise we're growing like mad!!!
Some QOTDs
1. For those who had csections, does your incision area still hurt at times? Mine does...
2. Anyone have a D/C who positively HATES table food? I've tried bitsnbites of mild cheese, chicken, Cheerios, melon, etc and he looks as if I'm trying to feed him poision. Ped says no worries and keep trying but I was curious if this is happening to anyone else.
3. Anyone have a D/C who poos A LOT. I told the Ped he goes about 5 times a day at least and she said it's fine but I can't help but wonder....is that too much? Maybe I'm lucky because we have had a bought or two of constipation when we've had too much banana puree. I guess the thought crosses my mind these days because he's such a wiggle worm - SO HARD TO CHANGE we've opted out of the changing table and usually work on the bed or floor.
Okay, hope all is well.....

Last week Sean had another ear infection (both ears). This is his fifth so we're going ahead with tubes. I really hope this helps. I'm one exhausted mama. It seems like he's had an ear infection every month since I started back at work. I also have had a double ear infection and am on antibiotics myself :(. We go tomorrow to meet with the ENT tomorrow. I'm hoping we can do it the week after Christmas so I won't have to be off of work.
Last night I attempted to take Christmas pics because it's the first chance I've had since his eczema has been so bad on his face. He wasn't his normal happy self, but I managed to get a few decent pics.

incision - I don't know if I'd say it hurts but it is definitely uncomfortable at times, esp if DD is accidentally kicking around in that area. And I still don't have any feeling around it.
finger food - sorry, I can't help you here. DD took to finger foods pretty early on. Maybe try versions of the purees he likes best? So, banana chunks if he likes banana puree, etc.
poop - sounds about normal to me! And yes, changes are a struggle. She has a special toy she only gets to play with during changes or sometimes a book instead. Lots of singing. I give up the struggle as soon as the diaper is on and usually pull her pants on while she's standing propped up against the couch.
ETA - cross posted with Andrea - great pics! Maybe I'm mean but that last one is so cute :)
I finally got a Christmas portrait. A co-worker of mine referred me to a specific Sears for portraits saying that they did a good job there and it wasn't as crowded as the toher Sears in my area. She showed me portratis of her daughter from there and they were cute, so I decided to give them a try. well, our experience sucked. Our wait wasn't long, but their props sucked. Mattias was tired and going through his "hyper" mode before an eventual breakdown, so we coudn't get him to stay still . He didn't get much sleep the night before because we went to a Christmas party, so his eyes were puffy. Oh well, we know better for next time. This was the only decent shot we got and I don't even like it all that much. We might try to take some Christmas photos at home.

G had his 9m WBV this morning.
length 30" (97%)
weight 23lb 11oz (90%)
head cir 47cm (90%)
We thought he'd be closer to 25 lbs, he's just such a chunk! The Dr. was happy with how everything looked and said not to be worried that he's not pulling to stand or even crawling yet (though he does scoot backwards).
Andrea I like the one where he's mawing on the candy cane. :)
yby It's still a cute pic, even though maybe not the best experience.

ajb524 and yby1 Very cute pictures!
c-section- Yes sometimes it does hurt. More so when I am laying on the floor with DS or he is jumping on me. Other than that- its ok.
table food I've given him bits and pieces here and there. He seems ok with it. The initial reaction is a weird one because it is usually a different texture than what he's used to. But then he stares at me with a big open mouth looking for more.
poo A good 4-5 times a day. I thought something was wrong with him. Glad you posted that, now I know we have company. LOL
Karen
Ajb: All are adorable, but I think the second one is a hoot! Sorry to hear about the tubes, but hopefully that will provide him with some relief from all the infections. My mom said it made a huge difference with my brother.
Yby1: I think that pictures is too cute. The look on his face is like he is saying "hey look at me riding my cool rocking horse".
Thanks ladies. I feel much better about the picture now. I love all the pictures posted here so far :D
re: table foods - Matty loves them. I can't really get him to eat purees anymore. His favorite is cut up cooked potato with butter. He also loves glass noodles with a dash of low-sodium soy sauce, peas and a bit of garlic, cut up pieces of chicken and big wedges of water bagel (for teething). He's not digging the fruit right now though, which is strange because he loved them early on.

Hi ladies!
I've been following along, but I never seem to have enough time to post after I finish reading. I love all of the holiday pictures - I cannot believe how big everyone is getting!
ajb- We're heading to the ENT this week too! They have both had frequent ear infections (got to love day care!). We took Max back in October, and the ENT said to wait for a couple of months. Several ear infections later, we're going back, and taking his sister too. I know so many people who have gone the tube route and have been so happy with the results - so I'm hoping this helps them. I just hate them being so sick all the time. On the bright side, they both love antibiotics - they're always fighting for the medicine dropper!
junk - I love the card Jenn designed! My incision doesn't hurt, but it is still numb.
food - Mia is all over finger food, but Max tends to gag pretty easily, so I haven't been pushing it on them. They love cheerios and gerber puffs and bits of banana or mango. They were iffy about pasta though. I haven't tried anything too elaborate with them.
And JennW, I've also been obsessing about their birthday party!

junk - table foods I'm right there with you! DS has gotten to the point where he *tolerates* table food, but he doesn't like it. He loves his pureed baby food. We've been slowly trying different things with no success so far.
At Thanksgiving, my dad said, "I never heard of a kid giving up mashed potatoes and gravy for strained carrots."
He has his 9 mo tomorrow so I plan on talking to the ped about it.
Kristine: That was a fantastic article! Not trying to get into a political discussion here, but I am so torn on the topic now that I have a baby. I knew I would be induced, but if I were left to go into labor naturally having to travel 45 minutes to the hospital where I delivered (by choice) may have me feeling a bit differently on this issue. I had no idea so many hospitals were closing their ob wards. Anyway, thanks for pointing me to this article. On a side note, my maiden name is your last name, any family in IN???

TGal~ I still haven't had a chance to read it! I checked all the stores in my area a few days ago, but none had the Jan. issue yet! I will have to check again... I didn't know that lots of hospitals were closing ob wards either.. All I know of the article is what I was interviewed on, using the hospitals OB to deliver... That's funny about the name ;) No all DH's family is in the LA area...

birthday - no planning here, none at all, I'm in denial my guy is going to be one any time soon. I think I'll just *not* have him turn one, sound good?
We've got a third tooth here, the top left centre one. he's now taken to grinding them together and it make sme want to pull my hair out :p Fun times!!

Same here! Mattias doesn't get a 9 month WBV, he just goes back for his 1 year WBV. When we took him to the Dr. for his stomach flu a couple of weeks ago, he was 18 pounds 10 ounces. That was after barfing all night though, so I'm sure he's back up to 19 pounds now. I tried measuring him myself and he was about 30" long.
He's so wiggly though.

Oh yeah, G does it ALL the time. It drives DH up the wall, but I've gotten used to it. I think I read it helps alleviate some of the pain from teething.
Quick question- Do they give shots at the 9 month WBV?
No, although we did opt to get the first part of the flu shot on Monday. He'll get the second part in January.

I'm so excited...Santa is coming to our house on Sunday! We're friends with a man who IS Santa. I swear he looks like Santa in the dead of summer, let alone Christmastime. He is extremely busy this time of year making appearances all over the metro area so we were extrememly touched when he called and said he wanted to come visit Noa. I hope to have some pics to share.

Kristine--I just read that article the other day (I get the magazine)! Now I just re-read it since I know it was you they were talking about. That's cool. Where we live now there is only 1 OB at the hospital and the majority of births are done by family practice Dr's.
Your girls are so adorable! I can't believe how moblie your little one is. My youngest is 16 mo and doesn't pull up yet so we are a little bit spoiled--at least that is way I think of it. ;)
Here are mine, thanks to my awesome sis (kdotp--she photoshoped two pics together since it is impossible to get them to smile at the same time!) Hi, Kari!

9 Mo Stats
DS had his 9 mo apt yesterday!
28" long
19 lbs 7 oz
45 cm head circumference
He got his flu shot and they were going to do the lead/iron test but didn't have the proper paperwork. He'll get it when he goes back for his second flu dose in a month. Overall, he's in great health! The doc prescribed a cream for his chapped face and eczema.

WBV was not so great today. They are concerned that Owen isn't gaining enough. They think his small size is probably to blame for the gross motor skills taking their time. He was only 14lbs14ozs. and 27/28 inches. Height 25%; weight not even on the charts. He's never been on the charts so she wasn't worried about that but more about the fact that he isn't gaining enough on his curve. They informed me that he is now to have butter on all his veggies, to increase his yogurt intake and add a bit of heavy cream to his cereal. Then they sent him for bloodwork just to make sure that nothing else is going on. So we went to do that. Let me tell you how awful and horrifying it is to hold your screaming, crying 9-month old while they draw blood.:( What an awful day. We go back in a month to see if he gains well. I just feel like crying right now. They said all his cognitive and verbal skills are perfect so at least I'm not worried in that department.

i have a friend who has an almost 2 1/2 year old and she's just 22 lbs. she is healthy and thriving in all other aspects, but still off the charts for weight. she drinks lots of milkshakes! there is no explanation. she has two other children who are in the normal ranges.

Shannon - Congrats! We're still waiting on complete unassisted sitting so I understand what a great Christmas gift it must be!:) I've heard of them taking blood from the baby's head. That must have been difficult to witness! Poor lil thing. Can't wait to see her prof pics.:)

Jenn- hang in there girl. I know you are the best mommy to Owen and just worry about his well-being. Especially since his verbal/cognitive abilities are on track, I'm sure his GM will soon follow suit. And know that we're always here...You know we're good at listening to vents! :)
ps. We can only sit for 1-2 min stretches at a time and that's only if she doesn't get to playing/reaching and throw herself off balance...so we still have a little while before we've "mastered" it. ;)
Believe me, I know how very hard it is to see other babies the same age doing all sorts of skills we're far from. But I do take comfort in knowing that our babies will all get to the same point, it may just take some a little longer to get there. ;)
JennW
12-20-2006, 08:25 AM
Shannon - One advice my friend said is just to say they won't go to high school not knowing "blank." For example - they won't go to hs not knowing how to sit or stand or walk, etc. It makes sense and makes you feel better. I think we, as parents, get too caught up in all this stuff!!! They all get there in their own time. My doctor said 9 months is not too late to sit it's just later than average. But all kids are on their own timetable!:) Nothing wrong with being a late-bloomer.
Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday with their baby's first! How exciting this year!:D

So sorry about the drs appointment :( You could use olive oil in stuff too to make it more caloric (though I'm sure butter is better ;)). Will he eat Avocado? That's high in fat too! I'm sure his weight will catch up.

Sam had his 9 month WBV. I guess all of his crawling and walking around is giving him quite the work out... He's gotten a lot longer, but only gained a little over a pound since his 6 month appointment. He's got another cold, which will hopefully not turn into the bronchiolitis this time, and will hopefully clear up by Christmas. We are on day 9 so it's gotta go away soon right?

Hi! Boy has it been a rough month! Since December 1st Sean has had pink eye, 2 ear infections and strep throat. Strep throat struck Sunday afternoon while we were at the mall. I never knew vommitting was a symptom of strep throat.
He ran a really high fever and threw up all night Sunday and Monday. Thank goodness he slept better last night. Me and DH were exhausted.
He has his surgery scheduled for tubes on January 8th. The ENT said his ears looked terrible and that he actually has some hearing loss from all of the fluid, but it should clear up once he has the tubes.
In between sickness we did manage to see Santa claus. This isn't the best quality b/c it's a scan-
