naps - Usually 2-3. We get a nice long one in the morning and then usually 1-2 short ones in the afternoon.

Naps Usually 2 or 3 here. It depends on how long the first two are if he gets a third or not.

Cleaning Toys Some I'll put in the dishwasher, others I wash with warm soapy water in the sink. It depends on the toy. Which reminds me, I need to wash a few!

DS is six months old today! Where did the time go - half a year already! We had six month pictures taken today and they came out so good - he was in such a good mood! Lots of smiles for the camera. He likes it when we "fake cough" and so we did a lot of that!

amychris and JennW-The paci trick worked wonders with the medicine, thank you sooooo much!

red-I went back and looked at her antibiotics after your post, and strangely enough, it's the sulfer one she seems to enjoy, lol...

tracie-That is too funny about the 'fake coughing'. :)

shannongh-Your family continues to be in my prayers, hope things are going well for you.

We moved Arleigh into her 'big girl' car seat this week, and so far, I'm finding it to be a giant pain in the butt. Seems like every time we go somewhere now, she falls asleep, and I have to wake her up getting her out. She never used to sleep in her other seat. It's good that she's comfortable, but she's not so thrilled when her nap gets interrupted. And, I'm still getting used to buckling her in the seat, so it takes awhile...Today, we went out to lunch, and got a high chair so she'd have somewhere to sit, but it was big, and she can't totally sit on her own yet, so I was trying to pad it so she was propped up, but it ended up just easier for her to sit on my lap. I'm sure that won't be a problem once she's a good sitter though. Anyway, hope you're all enjoying your Labor Day weekend!

red great pic of logan. and thanks for all of the info on iron. so helpful.

yay mackenzie!

naps we take 2 or 3, the length and time varies.

food james wasn't really into the rice. he LOVES sweet potato. we also tried oatmeal which caused quite a lot of discomfort for a couple days, so we've taken a break.

his reaction to rice..."mommy, you're really going to make me eat this?"

Hi ladies! We're home and Noa is doing wonderfully! The past six days have been the hardest that Dh and I have had to endure but the prayers and positive thoughts from everyone have really kept us going. It was so nice to log in here for the first time in a week and see so many well wishes from all of you! Thank you!!!

Can you believe that Noa had open heart surgery 6 days ago and she is now only on Tylenol for pain control!? Crazy, isn't it? Granted, getting to this point has been a very rocky road...seeing her in so much pain was heart wrenching. Then, to top things off, the pain meds that they were giving her by mouth started causing her severe reflux and vomiting. That caused her more pain that her chest wound! It was not pretty.

But we're home and doing well now-that's all that matters! Now our battle will be trying to get her back into some sort of sleep schedule. That might be a lost cause with the CONSTANT wakings through the night from nurses administering meds, checking vitals, etc.

If any of you are interested in seeing pics from our hospital stay, PM me and I'll send you a link to my shutterfly album. Some are of Noa right after surgery so I just want to warn you if that kinda thing upsets you. Call me crazy but things like that have always interested me so that is why I'm offering to share. :)

ps. Thank you kmmommy for updating everyone here!!!:D

Shannon Glad to hear that things went well with Noa and you are home!

naps 2 or 3, but this has varied a lot lately. For some reason, the past week or so, Sam only wants to be held to nap and if we put him down, he wakes up and cries. So its either hold him, or no nap.

food
Sam is just doing rice cereal at this point. He had a reaction to the oatmeal (excema on face, diaper rash) so we had to cut that out for a while. Now I'm scared to introduce anything too fast.

Shannon- I'm so glad you are home and Noa is doing well. You are always in my thoughts. I'm going to PM you, because I am curious to see those pictures.

Lisa- I was just thinking about you yesterday and I was going to come on here and see if anyone had heard from you. I'm so glad you stopped in. I hope you are doing ok and your move went well.

Nothing new here. Phoebe has 2 teeth now and seems to be working on more - if drool is any evidence. She is always a slobbery mess these days, and is chewing on everything. We haven't started solids yet, but we'll probably do it in the next few weeks or so. She can't sit unassisted yet, but she if she's on any kind of incline she'll pull her top half up to sitting. Of course, then she topples over, but she's definitely interested in being upright.

We're home from our mini-vacation. Sean was sick the whole time. He got pink eye before we left, but thankfully that cleared up with the eye drops quickly. I do have a few pics I want to post since it's been a while since I've posted any.

More cute pictures!

-------------

We got back late last night from a long weekend with the family. Quick visit, but it was nice. The 10 hour road trip was fine except for the last couple of hours each way. She got a little fussy at the end and a quick pit stop for a nursing did the trick.

On the way home I was a little bored and saw that she was chewing on her entire hand, which was odd because normally it is just the fingers. So, I looked and one bottom tooth has popped through the gum and the other is just beneath. Both are coming in at the same time! Fun fun!

Welcome! 3/15 is Sam's birthday too!

I am going crazy here. The past 6 days, Sam only wants to be held to sleep. The second we try to put him in his crib (day at first, now at night too) he screams like crazy. He is basically inconsolable until we pick him up (though this happens more often for me than DH). Im not sure whats going on but I dont want to hold him every time he sleeps, I fear that will become a bad habit.

This thread has been pretty dead lately...

Seth turns 6 months tomorrow. I can't believe how fast they've flown by! I am extremely amazed at myself, we've made it to 6 months of BFing without any formula! I was shocked when we made it to 6 days, so this feels like quite an accomplishment. I am basically EPing, he only drinks from the tap once a day, first thing in the AM. My supply has been "regulating" lately, so I haven't been keeping up 100% and am dipping into the freezer stash w/o replenishing. I am trying to be zen about it, I know I will probably have to supplement at some point (my freezer stash isn't that big), but I'm ok with it.

Seth's pumpkin costume from PB kids came today. It is SO cute. i love it.

He seems to have gotten the hang of eating from a spoon! He LOVES green beans, gobbles those right up. Everything else is just ok. I bought a sweet potato and a squash and made some stuff on my own, it turned out pretty well. I'm finally using the food processor we got for our weddingm so DH is happy! :)

My DH is traveling for work this week, so we're on our own. We're doing ok, though I am tired! I try to be ready for work before Seth wakes up, which means waking up at 5, oh well.

Still no rolling over:rolleyes: , though he's mastered sitting up. The kid is just not interested in what's on the other side...

Hope all are doing ok!

G had his 6m WBV today:
weight 20lb 8 oz
length 28.5"

She gave us the percentile for his head (75-80) but not the actual number, and she didn't give us percentiles for his weight/length (but I'm sure they're at least 90+)

We're moving into 12-18 clothes fulltime, need to get plain long-sleeved onesies for bedtime (he still sleeps in a sleep sack). He's been going down between 8:30-9:30 at night and sleeping until 5-6. Yay!

A few of our pro 6m pics:

Omg, I can't believe how big all our babies are getting. Insane, where has the time gone. All the pictures are too cute. Junk, I can't see yours, we can't use snapfish anymore, have to use either flickr or photobucket. :(

IU: Congrats on making it 6 months. I too started regulating around the same time. Tried everything to get my supply up and nothing worked, so I am wondering when we will have to supplement as well.

Hi girls,

Graham had his official 6m WBV today after finally getting over his strep throat...

Looks like his stats are almost identical to Grant!! :)

Weight: 20lbs. 8ozs 90%
Height: 28.25" 95%
Head: 18 95%

He is doing great except that he is STILL not STTN! And STILL not taking a bottle (of EBM or formula)!!

So I feel proud to have been able to BF him exclusively for 6 months, but now I would at least like someone, ANYONE to please give him a bottle at night!! I'm really, really tired! :o

He is so smiley and giggly- he just cracks me up! Still no teeth, but the hair on top of his head is actually starting to grow a little bit!

I cannot possibly express in words how much I am treasuring every moment with this little guy! It just makes me want to have a dozen more!! :D :D

Hi guys - thanks for all the well wishes and thanks TGAL for the heads up re: snapfish and photobucket. Well, I give you Pierson Thomas, in all his sweet potato glory:

http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l265/ptsmama4ever/100_0232.jpg

He had his WBV on Sept 8th and we are:
27.5 inches long
17.8 pounds
Head circ....I don't remember and the bozo nurse wrote down 17 inches so clearly that can't be right.

Still not sleeping thru the night -- he's not the best eater, bottle or spoon fed, so I think he truly gets peckish between 3 and 4 am....so he gets a bottle. What can I do....I've tried Baby Whispering, Ferberizing, Rocking, Patting, he wants mama to give him a baba, what can I say?

I'm sure this ground has been covered but I've missed it....where are we on exersaucers? I was planning to not buy one but received one as a gift. I was a little scared to use one for the usual reasons. How are our babes doing with them?

Well, it's been nice stopping in....one more pic of the babe and me....

Lisa, I had to LOL at that last picture - DD likes to "lounge" with her feet up in the stroller too. Pierson is so cute! Glad to hear that all is going well! Can't answer your exersaucer question - we don't have one and DD has never been in one (though apparently she was fascinated w/ one of the toys at a friend's house).

Maura likes her exersaucer as did Aiden. We just don't have her in it for long periods even though she always stands in it anyway.

JennZ
09-13-2006, 11:00 AM
Graham doesn't love his exersaucer yet, but will play in it for about 10 minutes before he gets fussy.
Of course, it is the same one we had for DD and DS1, so maybe it's just not exciting enough for him! The ones they have now are A LOT cooler than the one we have! :D

QOTD-
Anyone working on getting DC to drink from a sippy cup or regular cup yet?
My ped and the LC at the office recommended trying this since Graham won't take a bottle. Just wondered if anyone has had any success with this, and if so, what worked the best?

amychris03

I work(ed) with lots of PT's whose opinion on exersaucers was that they
can be used, just dont plop your kid in there for the entire day. I was hesitant to use it still, because I worry about everything, but Sam just LOVES it. And its so nice to put him in it for a few minutes at a time while I eat lunch, go put some laundry in, etc. He maxes out on his fun in about 15 minutes anyways, which is about as long as I would leave him in it.

QOTD:
I've tried sippys with water. Sam doesn't get the hang of it just yet. I took the valve out to show him that there was liquid in there and he drank a little, but mostly spit it out. When I put the valve back in, I think he sucked some, because he got a funny look on his face, but mostly, he just enjoys biting on it. I'm interested to see what others say, and what is a good brand cup to try!

Ha. I spoke too soon about STTN. Last night the little punk was up at midnight and again at 4, so we have a tired momma today. I think he's getting another tooth--he did the same exact thing right before his first fang popped through.

G loves his exercauser. I know he's in one sometimes at daycare, and we put him in it at home, too, when we need to make supper or something and don't want him free on the floor, but try not to keep him in it for too long.

We've slowly started introducing solids--mostly veggies. We're still not sure what to think about them, but we'll get there.

JennZ - must be something about those G names! ;)

man, I'm having a heck of a time trying to edit this stinking post!

No sippy yet but the ped did mention it yesterday. Aiden never got the hang of a sippy or was just too lazy to tip the thing:p He sucked on one of our straws one day and that's what he has used since.

junkinmytrunk
09-13-2006, 12:05 PM
(sorry my photos were so HUGE :( didn't realize they'd come out so large!)

We are using a sippy. I put water in it and he really enjoys using it - not that he's drinking tons but he sorta has the idea.

RE: Solids....We pretty much have oatmeal and formula every AM with a side of fruit, lunch is a veggie with a small side of fruit, dinner is a veggie with a small side of fruit and bottles are interspersed throughout the day. My ped said to give him cereal just before bed to help with STTN but all my books say it's hogwash and it is hard enough for me to get him to eat at mealtimes, forget adding extra meals in.

Anyone else have a baby obsessed with any/all things Baby Einstein?

I read along every day though I rarely post.;) Glad to see everyone is doing well - all babies are sooooooooo adorable!!! Owen started food this week. It's been fun. So far just avocado and tomorrow we'll try banana. I'm making the food and so far it's working out for us.:)

He likes the exersaucer but gets tired of it easily. As for a sippy cup, we haven't even tried yet. I didn't even think of it!:)

He has his WBV on the 25th (a week after he is 6 months). I can't wait to see what he weighs.:D

Jenn, that is a fantastic picture!

Junk, Pierson is adorable.

All of our babies are just the cutest.

Exersaucer- Seth loves his. He's not in it for more than 10-15 minutes at a time, but he makes the most of it. I have to admit, I don't know what the controversy is surrounding them. I know there is one, I just don't know why? Anyone care to enlighten a dumb momma?

Sippy- Seth is obsessed with cups, so I bought him a sippy last week. He sucks on it well, but doesn't tip it, so nothing comes out. But that doesn't bother him, he thinks his sippy is just the greatest toy I ever bought him. Ha!

Food- Mommy's homemade squash has been a big hit. I'm going to try green beans next since he loves those so much.

Here is Seth's 6 month pic. I'll probably take it down in a day or so...http://www.totsites.com/totimages/5863/93647-Photo1.jpg

Hi guys! All the babies are so freaking adorable! How is it that the March babies are so cute?!

oh wow iu, lookit that hair! Very impressive :D

Jenn, I LOVE the uniform!! Such a sweetie pie

No official stats yet to update, we dont' go in to see the ped until next monday, but I just had to ask - does anybody elses baby want nothing to do with solids? Logan is bound and determined he will not eat anything. I've tried sweet potatoes, beans, peas, carrots, peaches, bananas...even rice cereal! He hates it all. It's not a big deal to me really, it's just kinda frustrating now that I'm ready for him to move to the next level. Ah well, I guess I will just enjoy not doing the extra dishes for as long as possible, right? He's growing up so fast as it is :p

oh, and jennz, Logan refuses all forms of bottles as well. We tried them all, to no avail. Now we're on to sippy cups. Surprisingly, it works the best as just a cup! if you hold it for him and tilt it back, he has no problem drinking. silly kid :p

I still read along, but inevitably I get to the end and then I'm too tired to post much. But I just had to say how adorable these babies are!! Keep the pics coming!

I just uploaded pics from APRIL -- yes, APRIL -- yesterday (and I continued until I almost made it to August). If/when I ever come close to *current* pictures, I'll have to post. They're both SO BIG! (28-29 inches, 18-20 lbs.). It broke my heart to pack up all their 3-6 month clothing (they didn't have much in that size, but still they never wore a good percentage of it). I just wish I could let them grow up AND keep them small, KWIM?

does anybody elses baby want nothing to do with solids?

Yep. She ate her first helping of sweet potatoes on her 6 mo b-day like a champ, professed to loooooove avocados for several days, and now, nothing doing. So far I've tried the aforementioned plus apples, bananas, peaches, rice cereal (both commercial and homemade; the homemade stuff actual made her instantly barf) and butternut squash. Kinda ticks me off too since I took the time to procure all produce from the organic farmers market AND to cook it AND to puree it AND to strain it AND to store it. Yeesh. It's almost like she doesn't realize all the effort I've put into her meals! ;) Ah, well. Even though the solid food thing is fun, I wouldn't mind a few more months of breastmilk-only poos!

(tuni: love the journal title, BTW)

Well, what I read is that the the opaqueness of the tray that surrounds the top of the saucer does not allow baby to see his feet or legs, thereby thwarting his ability to learn "why" he is standing. Therein lies the controversy - I guess some doctors don't agree with this. The only reason I sorta kinda think there is something to this theory is that my mom told me I didn't walk until SIXTEEN MONTHS, and my older sister FIFTEEN MONTHS and she used walkers with us (similar concept - opaque tray). However, on her third child, my mom scrapped the walker and my younger sister began walking at 12 months. Could be entirely coincidental. I do think like, a lot of mommies have mentioned, limited time in the saucer is the way to go. So far, Pierson isn't entirely in love with his so we'll see.

Love all those darling, darling baby pics. I could eat them all up. Well, have a wonderful day, ladies. And babies.

I think the controversy around the exersaucer is basically two things. AAP doesn't recommend them because there have been some instances where the head of the femur breaks. Also- they say it's not good for learning to stand/walk on your own because it works a totally different set of muscles and the kids can't see their legs to "learn" that hey, if I move this way, this is what happens. Here is an old thread about it: http://www.constantchatter.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5723&highlight=exersaucer

I don't buy it:) Aiden loved the exersaucer and was in it probably more than he *should* have been and he walked at 10 months. I thought it was more of the "hanging by their spine" thing.

yeah, thats what that thread said, the hanging by their spine thing is bad too. Of course that never stopped me from using the bjorn with him when we needed to, either.

Thanks for the info guys. Looks like I need to move the height up on ours as DS's feet are flat on the bottom now. He loves it way too much for us to stop using it, though. He's never been in for more than 15-20 minutes, so I won't worry too much. Thanks!

Seth hated his solids for about the first 2 weeks we tried. I discovered it was more the spoon than the food, because if I tried to give him sweet potatoes on my finger, he ate them right up! I gave him the spoon to play with for a few minutes before we'd start eating and after a couple of days, he was eating like a champ. Could be a coincidence, but I decided it helped!

exersaucer Mackenzie loves her. She gets bored after 15 minutes but we have purchased two one for our house and one for the IL's as they watch everyday. I mainly use it when I am trying to get dinner done or prepare the bottles for the next day.

Not sure if anyone is still in the market but at Big Lots they had the same one I paid 80 for for 40. Thats where we picked up the second one.

exersaucer My DS isn't the biggest fan. He tends to prefer his swing still, or his bouncy seat, although he's getting a little big for it. I think he likes the hanging toys better for some reason. Actually, his favorite thing is to lay on the floor with a toy or two.

Do any of your DC's not like to sit up? Mattias can sit up, but the only way he'll stay sitting for more than 20 seconds is to have Sesame Street on  :p. He prefers to roll around and stand or walk (with our support of course) My friends DC's that are about his age seem to love sitting, so it just got me wondering.

absolutely not! it was a sad day when we moved into the 3's...even sadder when I had to buy size 4 overnights after a few nightime leaking issues..

Does anyone have one of those doorway bouncers? He LOVES to 'jump' up and down...though I fear he'll take down the apartment. He goes to town on the exersaucer, but fear it will soon lose its allure...

Sitting DS can sit on his own now, but cannot yet bring himself to a seated position without help..tips over once in a while, always keep him surrounded by cushions. Find that he's getting the hang on balancing himself much quicker now that I let him do his own thing (used to hover quite a bit.. :o )

No. I was sad, too, even though he was just barely 3 months when we switched. Now chunky mcfattybutt is almost out of his 4s!

DS can sit for about 2.7 seconds before he starts to tip. He loves standing (usually on us) though!

Wow, another month gone. Solids are underway and this little girl is on the move. She constantly has to hold someones hand to try and walk and when she does give us a break from that she will sit and play for a few minutes here and there.

Eva won't have much to do with all the baby contraptions, but Brooke, if your dc loves to bounce you have to get one. When my little brother was an infant he loved bouncing and I could spend hours just watching him in that thing, he was the happiest little bugger on the planet in that thing. Knock on wood, but the walls in my dad's little house didn't come tumbling down.

Sitting: Eva is sitting strong, but I still keep pillows around her to prevent any possible head bangs.

Exersaucer: For the past few weeks, she can only stand to be in it for 5-15 minutes.

She is now up to 16.5 pounds (not sure about length, it is hard to keep her still let alone measure her). I guess we will find out at her well visit in two weeks. Here is a picture I took today of Eva at her cousin's soccer game.

Maura is trying to give me even more grey hairs! She sits well as of the last week and today she all of a sudden was able to go from belly to sitting! Then I came back into the family room to find her pulling up on Alex's laptop bag. Ugh!! She sort of crawls backwards too. Aiden crawled (forward) at 8 months and walked at 10 so I was really hoping that Maura wouldn't be following in his footsteps but it looks like she's surpassing her big brother.

Ugh! I have a headache.

just checkin' in. all of the photos are adorable!! keep 'em coming!

we're still up a couple times a night...yuck. dh is now giving him a bottle of bm at one of the wakings so i can get some rest. our 6 mo. wbv is the 25th, same day as jennw i joined a bf support group where he's weighed every week, he was 18lbs a couple weeks ago.

food so far we've tried sweet potato, avacado, carrots, squash, peas, and apples on their own. he's enjoyed all of it so far. i joined a babyfood co-op, so all of his fruits and veggies will be homemade...for now anyway. it's good because there are some things i would never think about making/trying like lentils. he's also had some earth's best and gerber organic. we're still not on a solids routine, we just try something new every 2-3 days.

sitting he can't get himself to the sitting position, but will sit briefly on his own or while supported before tipping. he's getting stronger everyday.

we're is cruisers size 4 too. we also really like the new huggies natural fit. we haven't had any nightly pee outs since we moved up in size. getting up is bad enough, but having to change a diaper and a sleeper in the night stinks!!

We had one with Amelia. She never giggled as much as she did in that jumper. She just loved it. Sometimes she'd jump so much she'd fall asleep in it. It was hysterical.

FWIW, we tried the Jumparoo too, and she didn't like it nearly as much. A lot of moms rave about it though, so if you are really worried about stability, you might want to check out one of those.

Phoebe was 6 mos yesterday. We gave her her first taste of solids. Carrots. She didn't care one bit. Didn't hate it, didn't love it. Total indifference.

Hello ladies! We've had a rough couple of weeks since surgery. She's healing wonderfully and you would hardly know she'd undergone open heart surgery two short weeks ago by just looking at her (except for the scar) but, unfortunately, the hospital stay RUINED her nighttime sleeping. She wakes anywhere from 4 to 8 times per night! My husband and I are zombies many days. We don't know how to get her back into her old sleeping habits. CIO isn't an option because she's likely waking because of distress associated with the surgery (somewhat like post-traumatic stress). It is completely exhausting and we are hoping it passes soon.

We tried solids, both rice cereal and pears, this past weekend but she wasn't interested at all. Just pushed it out with her tongue.

Noa is nowhere near sitting but that's to be expected with the low muscle tone.

Here's a cute pic from over the weekend-

Shannon - I am so glad to hear that Noa is doing well. You and her are truly inspirational!

Doorway Jumpers - Both of the boys love them. We got one as a hand me down and I had to go buy another one because they both like it so much. Also, if you are worried about putting it in a doorway I think that you can get some kind of free-standing frame for them (at least with jolly jumpers here in Canada)

And now for updates on the boys! We had their 6 month appointments last week:

Nicholas: 17lb. 3 oz. and 26.2 in
Campbell: 16 lb. 10 oz. and 26.8 in.

Nicholas is great at sitting and also loves to stand (with help). Campbell isn't quite as steady at either, but is getting better everyday. Campbell is also getting both of his bottom teeth as of Friday, but no sign of Nicholas' yet.

We started solids last weekend and they don't seem particularly interested. We've tried rice cereal, bananas, and squash. So far squash is by far the favorite.

Also, DH and I had our first night away from the boys this past weekend. It was our 5th anniversary. We left early Saturday and got back about 8:30 last night. MIL came and looked after the boys. It was really nice to get away for a while. And it wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be!

Mattias' WBV was yesterday. He's now 17 pounds 10 ounces and 28 inches long. He's slowed down on the weight gain, but the Dr. wasn't worried at all. I don't think the scale reading was accurate though because he wasn't really centered on it and he was moving around quite a bit. I think he weighs closer to 18 pounds.

Matty is doing great with solids. He doesn't push food out with his tongue anymore and does chewing motions, so I can make the food a little chunkier - which he seems to prefer. We've also started giving him little bites of our food, which he *much* prefers over his food. He starts crying if we don't give him bites of our food. Oh well. :)

klm2klh - We went out this weekend for our 5th anniversary too! It was nice. We left Mattias with my parents. I'm glad it's getting easier to leave him. I need to get out of the house! :P

Shannon I'm sorry to hear about the night wakings. I hope things get settled down soon for you! G has sometimes been waking 2-3 times/night due to teething, so I hear you on the "walking dead" feeling.

Noa is an absolute doll!!!

Target had the FP Space Saver high chair on sale last week, so we picked it up to make our eating trials a little easier. Last night we tested bananas, squash and prunes. Not too fond of any of them, but the bananas seemd to be the least hated. ;)

He's doing better on sitting up. I think he went for almost 30 seconds on our bed last night (surrounded by a mountain of laundry in case he toppled over).

We need to get a convertable car seat before Oct. We're going to DH's college homecoming and it's a 7+ hour trip.

Also, are there any guidelines on umbrella strollers as far as age requirements? I'd really like to get one of those to have on the trip as opposed to trying to pack our big stroller along with suitcases and other baby needs for the 3-day weekend.

Just a quick post since Sam is not in support of my decision to check my email and post here.... We had his 6 month WBV yesterday and it went well!! We are going to go slow on the introduction of solids (mainly fruits and veggies for some time) because my brother had really bad allergies to wheat, dairy, eggs, etc. Sam is doing great other than screaming every time he is put down because he wants to be held to sleep. Im not sure how this started because we never held him *that* often while he slept for this very reason. I guess we are going to have to get tough with him after he's feeling better from his Vax's. Anyways, here are his stats:

Weight: 18 lbs., 10 oz.
Height: 26 1/2 inches

He's screaming for some attention, so I've gotta run!

For the fall, I got him a cute little one piece furry thing that makes him look like a little bear. I'm not sure what I'm going to do for winter, yet. Maybe a one piece, since that would be warmer. And his legs wouldn't be bare between his socks and his pants.

He has a few cute fall-ish jackets and sweatshirts. I am thinking a one-piece would be good for winter. I am trying to get away with just buying one size though. He is just starting to wear 6-9 now. I’m thinking since Old Navy does 6-12 month size in some stuff that may get us through the winter. He can always wear something lighter in the spring unless he suddenly starts to grow at a faster rate and I have to buy something else in the interim…hmmm…what to do…

Yeah phart – Thanks! I would never have thought of that.

Mackenzie had her 6 month WBV

Weight 16 lbs 13 oz
Length 27.5 inches
Head 18 inches I think?

Didn't ask about percentiles. Dr said she is very advanced with her muscle tone. She can sit up by herself for a long time. She also was a strong baby when they gave her the shots. She did not cry at all for the 1st one but sure did let us have it for the 2nd one it was like you can hurt me once but not twice

We started baby sign language class and she loved it.... We go Sundays and she has so much fun. She loves other kids. It is fun to watch. She is starting to really interact. If you pound your hands on the table she copies its too cute....

QQTD: For winter I live in california so will only buy a jacket and just make sure we have lots of long sleeve to get her through the day. oh yeah maybe a rain coat

Another Question? Are you going to be getting the flu shot for your little one? I don't want to start a debate but the DR asked me today

Hello ladies! I know I haven't been around in a while but thought I would stop in and give a little update on Julia! She has been crawling for about a month or so, she started sitting up about a month and a half ago, she pulls herself up to stand to play with her toys, then walks while holding onto things! I went in to get her up from her nap about 3 weeks ago, and there she was standing in her crib! She is trying to make her sister look slow! Natalie didn't crawl till 9 months, pull herself up to stand till 12 months and walk till 15 months... I think Julia is trying to break Nat's records in half! :) Makes me nervous that she will be walking soon! Oh, she started crawling up the stairs the other day too! I was emptying the dishwasher and just a minute later I looked back at her and she was climbing to the 3rd stair! She hates staying still to get her diaper changed, she just loves being on the go.. I can tell this one's really gonna give me a run for my money!

She had her 6 month check up yesterday and she weighs 17lb5oz, and is 28.2 in long! We also found out she has an ear infection :( Wednesday she started getting a runny nose and has been a bit fussy at times but I hadn't realized she had an ear infection, she didnt see too bothered by her ears, which I guess is a good thing!

We had the girls pics done at Sears last week and I will post the pics when I get them in a few days... It was hard cause Julia just wanted to crawl everywhere, didn't want to sit still, but we got a few cute ones...

Well thats about all I can think of now, and I've got to get back to work... Hope all you ladies are doing well, have a nice weekend!

No clue about the flu shot. Doubtful any of us will get it.

Kristine Holy Cow! Go Julia! She'll be ready for preschool in a year at this rate. ;)

G's getting better at sitting up by himself. He can now go for 20-30 seconds at a time, and will usually correct himself if he starts to tip. And we now have 3 teeth (and I think soon to be 4) that have broken through the gums: three top and one bottom.

Hey! Sean has been sick this week. He's had a terrible stomach virus and couldn't go to daycare at all this week. I took him to the doctor Monday for it and he has another ear infection. We opted not to go the antibiotics route since he had terrible diarrea already and he just finished a round of augmention 2 weeks ago. We did have a brief talk about putting tubes in his ears and I'm all on board for it. He's been on 3 different antibiotics since May. I also suffer from ear infections so I know how painful they are and I'm ready for him to have some relief. He said he would wait to see if he got another infection (and I know he will) before we decide for sure.

I do have his "7 month" pictures from before he got sick. Oh yeah, he weighed in at 17lbs. 5oz Monday (7 months, 1 week).

DH and I decided to finally order a convertible car seat for G because we're taking a long trip next weekend. I originally wanted the Britax Marathon in the cowmooflauge print, but by the time I finally convinced DH to get it, that style was no longer on sale at Albee baby. So I did some searching and found a place that had the Marathon in the microdot tan print on sale and ordered that. Then today, I get a call from that place saying they were out of stock in the microdot tan but they would give me one of their in stock patterns at the sale price, so I got my cowmooflauge print after all!

Kind of a silly story, but it made my day and I wanted to share somewhere (and I think all my non-parent LJ friends are getting tired of me only posting baby-related stuff there :) ).

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v393/sphart1/CIMG2226.jpg

Tooth number 3 is through and 4 isn't far behind. She's going out of order too with them all being on the bottom. She sits, goes from belly to sitting and loves *solid* food. She's "beating" Aiden in most areas which I don't particularly like because he walked at 10 months and I'm already tired enough:)

Okay, I'm starting to worry a little bit about Piper's gross motor skills! She just started rolling over, can sit up but is wobbly, and is nowhere near being able to get herself into a seated position. And the idea of her pulling herself up or walking with support is just laughable.

Anyone else in the same boat???

G has never rolled from front to back and only started sitting well on his own within the last week. He's nowhere near crawling or pulling himself up, though he does like to stand and will sometimes pull his knees up under himself when he's on his tummy (but won't get up on his hands).

I remember reading a thread that asked posters when their DC crawled and the age range was from 6 months to over a year. I know it's so difficult not to compare your baby with everyone else, but there's such a wide range for these milestones, each child will meet them differently. That's what I have to keep telling myself.

IUAlum

Tuni- heck yeah! Seth can sit up really well, but he has NEVER rolled over in either direction and has no interest in even trying. My cousin whose baby is a week older than ours sent a video of him crawling (well, wiggling) across the floor and DH and I were flabbergasted. I know you shouldn't compare, but we looked at Seth like "When are you gonna do that, buddy?" At least Seth is cuter. :D I am just reminding myself that it is a whole lot easier to NOT have a mobile baby.

Totally. I know it's hard but once they get going there's no going back. Maura took a few *steps* forward in the crawling department when my parents were over and I was hollering "no, no, no crawling!" and they all just laughed at me:( She moves around alot too just by being able to sit up on her own so I have to make sure Aiden's smaller toys are nowhere near her.

Hi everyone! We're doing well here. Not crawling yet (thank goodness!) but DD can sort of pull herself back and forth on the hardwood floors. She seems to like to spin herself around on her belly. She can sit well but is nowhere near getting into a sitting position herself. We did lower the crib mattress this weekend though, just in case! No teeth yet either (phew!)

JennW, I'm so glad you posted your stats - with all these 17, 18, 19+ pound babes I was feeling like I had a skinny minny. We were at 15 lbs at 6+ months.

tgal~ I just checked Julia's baby book and she first crawled on the 5th, so 3 weeks ago.. But she had been semi-crawling for about a month before (she couldn't figure out how to move her arms, but was pushing forward with her legs and moving along pretty well that way) So I would say it might be a better idea to get a gate early to be prepared!

Got a few pics uploaded to share!
Here she is crawling with a cute smile..

And standing, her new fav thing to do!

Crawling My little guy is not crawling yet by any stretch. He pushes up on his arms, but has yet to get his butt up. He can roll anywhere he wants to go though. (And does!) He is not pulling up yet either.

phart you must have died when you walked in on that sight!

holy julia! wow! look at her go. what a doll!

tgal love the swing shot! what seat did you get?

we turned 6 months on the 23rd along with noa. here are our stats

18lbs
26.75 inches

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l95/jillmeuse/IMG_1757.jpg

and we finally have teeth! we cut the bottom two on tuesday and wednesday.

sitting he does great sitting on his own for several minutes, but he can't get there on his own. he's still usually surrounded by pillows for when he decides to fling himself backwards!

crawling i've seen him twice in the crawling position, but he collapses and has gone no where. he rolls around and can move himself in a circle while on his belly to get around.

how many meals a day? and what are you giving at each meal? how much? and does dc eat it all?

when did you lower the crib mattress? after he can sit up?

bf moms are you still exclusively bf? do you have a goal? mine was 6 months and i think i'm going to try to keep going until the end of the year then wean. as long as everything continues to go smoothly that is.

phart you must have died when you walked in on that sight!

The exact words that came out of my mouth were "Oh, hell no!".

how many meals a day? and what are you giving at each meal? how much? and does dc eat it all? Maura was loving solids so she was getting 2 meals a day most days but then she had issues pooping so I cut back to one meal a day.

when did you lower the crib mattress? after he can sit up? I lowered it the day after she first stood up.

bf moms are you still exclusively bf? do you have a goal? mine was 6 months and i think i'm going to try to keep going until the end of the year then wean. as long as everything continues to go smoothly that is. Still nursing with no plans of stopping:)

Be still my faint heart!!! Standing up? Pulling up? WALKING?! oh lordy, I am SO not ready for all this. I can't deal with the crawling, I am definitely not ready for walking. Where did our babies go and who are these "almost toddlers" we're tlaking about?! This is nuts. My BF just had a baby on Monday morning (YEY MSH!) and I wistfully look at her precious handsome baby boy who.stays.where.she.puts.him. He's bigger than Logan was when he was born, my mind boggles at how babies can grow so quickly!

my nutso is sitting, crawling and rolling like a madman. the crawling is thankfully still confined to soft surfaces (bed) since he tends to face plant frequently. He also does this crazy move we can the "snowplow shimmy" where he puts his forhead on the ground, sticks his butt way up in the air and moves forward usin ghis feet and hands like that. I have GOT to get a video of it, it's hilarious.

we are still toothless here, which I am thankful for since the little booger and I are having a power struggle over bitting. I am, thankfully, winning this battle. He only does it at the end of nursing when he want more, so it' sbeen relatively easy to avoid.

how many meals a day? lol, more like how many a week? We're so lazy and forgetful the poor kid's lucky if he gets a meal once a week. In my defense, he's not interested anyways, so no harm done. I do need to start offering more though. I have given him apple chunks in the mesh feeder which is a big hit, so I'll have to do that more.

when did you lower the crib mattress? after he can sit up? Havne't done it yet, but he hasn't sat up on his own yet either, so...I dunno. I like being able to bend over and put him in the crib without waking him up, so I think I'll probably wait a little longer.

bf moms - yup, I'm still EBF, and my minimum goal is at least a year. After that, I'll just take it as it comes. It'd be perfectly content to nurse past 2 years. I'm quite the lactivist!

shannon, ROFLMAO @ your reaction!

So in my LJ march moms group, we have our first repeat offender!! I am *so* not ready to be pg yet! Any one here TTC? Thinking of it? PG but in hiding (lol)?!
I must admit though that we arne't being uber careful. I figured between EBM, and PCOS, the chances are so slim, but now that reality has hit and another March mom is preggo, maybe we'll tighten up our security! hehe

ro i was thinking of that question while i was posting yesterday but couldn't imagine it. i think the minimum age difference we're shooting for is 20 months, but it took us a year and a half to conceive this one, so who the heck knows. red we are not super careful either, but we are so not ready for #2!

Yeah, it was pretty funny then but it's not funny at all when I go to put her down for sleepy time and she immediately pops up and tries to stand. So not cool and I hope she gets over ti quickly.

crawling - Matty is an expert crawler now. He can get across the room easy and get into trouble. We've had to pull out the Pack N' Play to contain him while we're making dinner. He's starting to pull himself up too - Scary!! :)

solids - He gets three solid meals a day. We introduced some finger foods and he's almost mastered the pincher grasp. He LOVES feeding himeself cereal. My little boy is growing up too fast. :(

meals a day: he typically gets two meals a day. a bowl of cereal in AM - oatmeal or rice cereal with fruit and then some veggie at night, sweet potatoes, peas, carrots, etc. Not much, we're introducing more and more new foods each week.

lower crib mattress: haven't done it yet. we'll do it when he shows signs of sitting himself up.

BFing: my goal has always been one year. It is challenging now that I am back at work full-time. I find it daunting if I think of making it to the one year point, so now I think of it in one month increments - makes it more manageable. The nursing part is great, its the pumping that is stressful. I have a few business trips the next few months as well - short, but there still are a lot of pumping logistics to work out.

RO: Definitely not ready right now!! We're waiting until the one year mark at a minimum and then we'll see. I'm thinking 2-2.5 years is a good spacing between kids. Like Elly, it took us 1.5 years to conceive Ben, so who knows what will happen once we start trying again.

Solids DS had been eating one meal a day at dinnertime and we just started a breakfast meal on Friday. He'll usually eat 3/4 to a full little tub of one of the Gerber 1st Foods at dinner. For breakfast, he's only had 1/2 a container so far.

Crib Mattress Haven't lowered it yet, but DS is not sitting up or pulling up on his own. We'll probably lower it when DS starts pulling up. But as of right now, he can't go anywhere he can't roll. I even once  forgot to pull the side up, and he was perfectly fine.

Repeat Offender Oh, hell, no! As of right now, our plans are not to start trying until July 2008. DS will be at least 3 by the time we have another. We are pretty careful, too, with the exception of the time we "accidentally" used the pull-out method. What can I say, I've either been on the pill or trying for all of our life together as a couple.

Which brings me to a question - What are you ladies using for birth control? So far, we've been using condoms, although I am charting so I suppose we don't have to use them always. I've been meaning to go back on the pill now since breast feeding didn't work out for us, but I'm lazy and keep putting off calling the doctor.

solids once a day, but not always every day.

crib we'll lower it when he's more mobile. He sits fairly well, but can't get himself in the sitting position. No signs of pulling up yet, either.

RO I *have* thought about it, but we won't start TTC again until G's around 18 months.

BC condoms and probably charting once I can get more than 2 hours of sleep at a time. I don't think I'll ever go back on the pill.

Solids: DD gets one meal a day. She does not eat a whole lot but I give her a fruit, a veggie cube and some rice cereal or oatmeal, but she hates both.

Crib Mattress: She is still sleeping in the co-sleeper next to our bed half the night and then in our bed the rest. Right now she is sleeping on daddy they both needed a nap. WE have an awesome crib that sits in the other room. Daddy wants to bring it in our room. I am not opposed but don't want to dismantle and remantle it. So I am happy co-sleeping even though everyone in my family seems I am weird. Is anyone else still co-sleeping?

Repeat Offender: Not for at least 2-3 years. I only want one kid in college at a time :) We are being careful using condoms and I have a pack of pills to start once I get AF but who knows when that will be. My AF is all messed up sense giving birth. Sometimes its 4 weeks others its 8. Always freaks me out and I have taken 4 pg test just in case. I have never not been on the pill so it freaks me out thinking what could happen if a condom broke?

solids - M & M are all over solids these days. They get fruit and cereal in the morning and veg & fruit for lunch, and then usually a bit more cereal and fruit before their evening bottle. They can't seem to get enough. We're still working our way through fruits and veggies. Has anyone moved onto something else? I don't think we're ready for meat or dairy, but I'm not sure when that's supposed to happen.

crib mattress - Still up high. Doesn't look like anyone will be pulling themselves up anytime soon. I do think they're on the verge of crawling. I'd be happy if they held off on that for awhile - I don't even want to think about baby proofing!

RO - No way. The thought terrifies me.

B-feeding - I'm actually sitting here with cabbage leaves in my bra as I type. I've been down to 1-2 feedings a night for months, but the babes went on a boob strike a couple of weeks ago, so it seemed like a good time to fully wean. I've been miserable - not because I miss nursing (like I thought I would), but because I've been in such pain!

BC - I already filled my script for the pill, but my OB told me not to start until I get my period, which still hasn't happened.

Active babies: I am not handling this stage very well at all. She still is only making slight advancements with the crawling, so I am hoping she will hold off for a little bit, especially if I keep tying her legs together (ha, just kidding)!

Solids: We are doing twice a day right now, but I am thinking about adding dinner to the menu very soon!

Crib Mattress: Dh didn't put it on the highest setting to begin with, so I think we are still OK.

RO: We are planning to ttc next Aug. I was pushing later and dh was pushing June, so we have a month in between. We want 3, so we need to keep the time in between a little shorter than what I would like.

BFing: Actually that is what I came here to inquire. I wasn't sure which thread on the main parenting board was appropriate, plus I thought you all might be a little more supportive. Anyway, I'm not pumping enough, (the way things are going) my freezer stash will be gone as of next week and dd has decided to wake up every two hours at night again (she just had a growth spurt this past month too). Right now I am in the negative 10 oz the 3 days a week that I work. My question is how do I supplement. I don't want to wean, I would continue pumping during working hours as usual and then BF on my 4 days at home with dd. And should she sleep through the night again, I can pump and will be able to stop supplementing, but until then I have no choice.

BC: Only condoms here. I don't do well emotionally on the pill, plus with my bp issues pp, my ob won't let me anyway.

Swing question: It is a brand called Play Star, dh bought it at lowes. DD loves it!

H&M Shirt: Yes, it is from H&M! I bought a few things and was wondering how they would look on and I love everything. I need to head back and see what else they have. I also paired up a pair of pink leggings from Old Navy that have lace trim around the bottom and they match and look so damn cute with that shirt. Here is a pic with a hat I bought at H&M as well. Love their stuff!
http://static.flickr.com/94/256623212_f11b9b03e0.jpg?v=0

Ugly doll: DD has Moxy and Ox. She has sadly abused their extremities as well :D !

Eva had her 6 month well visit at 7.5 months (lets just say a little mix up with the doctor’s office) and had two more shots, IPV and Hib. Does anyone recall their child bleeding and bruising more from these shots? Just curious if I am wrong to think the nurses were a little brutal. Here are her current stats.

Weight: 17.5 – 50%
Length: 26.25 – 25% (DH's mom is the only person on both sides of the family under 5'9" and it looks like dd may have her gene for height.)
Head: 17.75 – 95% (The doctor recommended we buy hats two sizes larger this winter  )

I am looooving the pictures!

solids - 1 meal a day, if that. I am in a babysitting co-op twice a week so I don't usually have time those days for a solids meal. And I hate the mess! Though last week I gave her sweet potato without mixing it with breastmilk - just rolled up little balls between my fingers. She seemed to enjoy it and it was much much cleaner. I'm so lame.

BFing - still going strong (hence the laxidaisical (sp?) approach to solids) and hoping to make it to at least a year.

crib mattress - lowered it a couple weeks ago, all the way to the bottom setting. It was such a pain to do, I don't want to have to do it again!

RO - add me to the terrified list!

BC - condoms, not that it's an issue right now :o (please tell me we're not the only ones!)

Someone more recent may jump in here, but with DS, I had to supplement towards the end when my freezer stash was gone.

We started supplementing by mixing a little bit of formula (prepared, not just the powder) in one of his EBM bottles. Gradually we increased the amount of formula so that he was getting some bottles that were totally EBM and some that were totally formula. I always made sure day care knew which was which so they could plan appropriately. My goal was for DS to get the EBM first so that if he wasn't all that hungry, he still got EBM first and the formula was thrown. But if he had fussy days, they could also give him the bottles based on how he was feelings.

Hello Girls!!

6mo wbv (a month ago!) ~
Weight - 18 lbs 5 oz - 75%
Height - 26.5" (We think the nurse measured him wrong, we think he's at least an inch taller)
Head - 17

activities ~ Lucas is sitting up for long periods of time (we have to put him in sitting position), rolling over (that's how he gets anywhere...), and up on hands and knees. No crawling though. He's just figured out the Johnny Jump Up and LOVES that now. He liked it before, for turning around in circles, but now he actually jumps... and jumps everytime someone puts him in a standing position. We're all getting arm workouts now!

solids ~ He gets solids a couple of times a week...we haven't found ANYTHING that he really likes yet at all. So he'll get a couple of spoonfuls that he spits back out usually.

BFing ~ pumping & nursing is still going well for us... have tons of freezer stash, will pump @ work until a year, then probably nurse at night for a little while after that.

Mattress ~ Heck, we just starting putting the side up! We'll probably lower the mattress when he starts pulling himself up.

RO ~ we've been trying since 3 months... :o I've gotten AF back already (at 5.5 months), but it took us a little over a year to get pg w/ Lucas, so we decided not to wait.

BC ~ we did the pull out method the first three months.

Clothes Sizes? Anyone else all the sudden flying through clothing sizes? Lucas was exactly right in the 0 - 3 & 3 - 6, and now all the sudden in 2 weeks he's too long for his 6 - 9 month pants! Pants I put on him 1 1/2 weeks earlier are all the sudden Waders and Capris! I'm bummed... I've bought him a bunch of cute stuff in 6 - 9 month sizes for pants and all that.

I have found that the Gerber clothes are WAY small for sizing, but if you go by the weight limits, they are more accurate. I discovered that after I bought some blankets sleepers in the 12 month size, and he might get 1 month out of them!

Here's some recent pics!

Hi Ladies!! Sean said his first word this morning----- Dada!! DH was helping me take stuff to the car this morning and I told him to just get him and as soon as he picked him up he said Da da really loud! It was so cute even if he didn't say Mama first.

QOTD-
activities- He's rolling all over the place now. He *almost* rolled off of the chair yesterday. Thankfully I was right there, but no leaving him alone anymore. He can also sit up for a little while. He tends to fall over very easily though.

solids- He get's 2 servings at daycare. Oatmeal or rice cereal w/fruit in the morning and then a fruit or veggie in the afternoon. Occasionally at night we'll give him something, but not always. I'm terrible about feeding him on the weekends. He probably gets just one a day on the weekends. He looooooves to eat though. Favorite is still squash, followed by sweet potato's.

Matress/crib- Well, he's not even in his crib. He still sleeps in the pack n play in our room, but I'm planning on moving him to the crib very soon.

RO- Noooooo! I am not anywhere near wanting another baby yet. I'm terrified of getting pregnant again. I've been on Ortho-Cyclen since I quit BF'ing and while I do hate being on the pill I feel much better knowing that I am on it instead of just taking a chance.

clothes- Sean could wear so many of his clothes for a while since he was so tiny when he was born, but now he's catching up. IN the past few weeks he's had a growth spurt and is finally starting to wear 6-9 months stuff. We are starting to have some cool mornings here so I had to go out this weekend and buy some more cool weather clothes for him :). He wore his first jacket this morning and thought it was more fun to chew on than keep him warm.

BC - condoms, not that it's an issue right now (please tell me we're not the only ones!)

Count us in, too. There is an internet show (http://www.zefrank.com/theshow/) that DH and I like to watch which features a "Ride the Fire Eagle Danger Day." That's pretty much how I feel about PP sex. :p Actually, I have an appt today to get the mini-pill (and to ask when PP sex is supposed stop hurting like a beyotch); we've tried condoms (always hideous) and the sponge so far, but both are non-starters. I'd love to chart, but AF is still absent.

RO - No real danger right now (see above!), but we do want the second one fairly soon. We plan to wait until DD hits one and the make our plans. (It only took us 2 cycles to conceive her.)

Nursing - Still going strong with no plans to stop. Pip still loves to nurse, and I love the fact that I can eat like an 14-year-old and still lose weight!

solids - She adores oatmeal with fruit in the morning, and that's pretty much in. I go through the motions of feeding her a veggie dinner, but she never eats more than a few spoonfuls.

BC - I had the Paragard IUD inserted in June. So far so good, but we're still trying to be careful

RO - I had the Paraguard IUD inserted in June ;), it's good for 10 years, but I might get it removed in 3 years to try again when I'm 35. We'll see. Matty alone is wearing me out, I couldn't imagine having two! God bless you all with twins. :)

Clothes - Matty is exclusively in 9 month clothes. I went to Target yesterday and saw the cutest carpenter jeans, but they were out of the 9 month size, so I bought him the 12 month size. They actually fit him in length, but the waist was too big. Crazy.

Feeding - BF and solids - BFing is still going strong. I pump during work, but we are having trouble getting Matty to take more than 4 oz from a bottle. I nurse him during lunch, so he may be getting enough, but I would still feel more comfortable if he's take a little more. The little bugger just wants to crawl around and pull up on stuff ALL. THE. TIME.

----

ajb524 - How cute that your DS said "Dada!" :)

----

Here's another question: Baby Proofing

Have you baby proofed your home yet? We thought we did a decent job baby proofing before Mattias was mobile, but now that he's able to move across the room easily, we noticed what a poor job we did at BPing. Especially with the electrical cords and our fire place. We though we were golden because our home is pretty much dog-proofed, but I guess not. So now were letting him crawl around each room to see what mischief he gets into so that we can fix it. :o

So now were letting him crawl around each room to see what mischief he gets into so that we can fix it.

That's pretty much the way we did it! Sucks more now since Aiden has toys with small pieces. My only piece of advice is to put up a gate at the top of your stairs (if you have them) as soon as you can. I thought we were safe by closing doors up here but one day I didn't latch it totally and the kitty opened our master and Aiden ended up falling down the entire flight of stairs. I think I cried more than he did but it could have been worse.

BC- Not doing anything- including THAT thing very much!! :o

RO- Oh, how I want another one so, so much!!! I know I must sound like some backwoods hillbilly that just wants to be barefoot and pregnant my whole life!!
But really, I always wanted 4 children close together in age. I love big families and I REALLY want to have the fourth one!!
Problem is- a) see above comment about DTD, and b) No AF
Soooooo, we shall see what happens! I really wouldn't mind just getting pregnant without the return of AF. But nothing in my TTC-life has been that easy!! :)

Solids- Graham is so uninterested in solids, it seems like a complete waste of time to go through the motions and the mess! But my pediatrician said to keep trying to at least give him some practice.
We have been giving him water in the sippy cup, regular cup and straw. Hoping and hoping that one day he will drink either BM or formula from a bottle or cup!!

BF- Still at it and I can't believe it!! Never made it past 4 months with DS1 and DD. Still working on the bottle- unsuccessfully. I am inclined to try and wean him if we seriously want to TTC. But wean him to what? That's the problem!

crib- We have the crib that has the hinged side that folds down partway. We just started closing that part up this week. Once he starts pulling up, we'll lower the mattress. I found out with DD that after we lowered the mattress, I couldn't lean in and kiss her without actually climbing partway into the crib. So I'm resisting lowering the mattress until safety dictates that we do it! :D

clothes- Just got the 12 month clothes out because Graham is almost out of his 6-12 and 9-12 things. Mostly the one-piece things with feet.

ajb- Wow! I can't believe little Sean is talking already!! How sweet!

crawling- Graham is thisclose to actually crawling. He is doing this inchworm / frog hop thing that is absolutely hilarious and adorable! But he is all over the place. It's getting hard now to keep him out of the other kids "non-baby" toys!

Anyway, I read along all the time, but haven't had time to post in a while!
I love all the pics of the gorgeous babes!
This is such a wonderful age! I love it so much! :D

RO- Ideally, I'd like our kids to be 3 years apart, but we'll see. I couldn't imagine a 2nd baby right now.

Solids- Seth gets cereal twice a day at daycare and then a veggie for dinner. So far we've tried squash, green beans, peas, carrots and sweet potatoes plus pears, bananas and applesauce. I have started making some stuff myself. So far, I've made squash, green beans, peas and sweet potatoes. He loves squashy green beans (one cube of each).

BF- I'm in the exact same boat as Tgal. We're still at 100% BM, but I am falling at least one bottle short per day, so I've been going through my freezer stash. I think I have enough to make it through the week. I think tonight I may add a couple ounces of formula to his bottle. I'm a little sad about it, but I'm way past my original goal of 3 months and my modified goal of 6 months. If it wasn't for the pumping, I think I could've gone the whole year. I loved BFing much more than I ever thought I would.
Question for FF mamas: What do you mix the formula with? Regular tap water or filtered?

Crib- We'll move the mattress once he starts pulling up.

Clothes- Fully into 6-9 or 6-12 clothes although a few of his 3-6 onesies still fit.

Crawling- nope. He'll get there. I really need to let him be frustrated a little longer. I am bad about that, though.

I can't believe its October either, and that we are moving again in less than a month. Has it really been a year since we moved up here?

BC Condoms, but it's kinda a mute point. I have to have an episiotomy revision because when they stitched up my tear they impinged a nerve and I am having crazy amounts of pain with sex, annual exams, etc. So it's not a very frequent occurance these days.

RO We will probably start trying in the spring after Sam is a year. We want to have 3 kids and ideally want to have the next one before DH is deployed again. Since we know he will be home for the next two years fairly certainly, nows the time to go for it I suppose.

BF Still going strong here too! My goal is to do it a year, since Sam has dairy and soy sensitivities when I eat them. Im kinda nervous about how the surgery (see above) will impact that though, since I will be under anesthesia, etc.

Crib Haven't lowered it yet. Hopefully he wont be pulling up before we leave here and we can just set it up that way when we move.

Clothes Some 3-6 month onesies still fit, but other than that, all 6-9 and 6-12 month stuff. The Sleeves are a little long on him though.

Crawling He goes backwards and pivots around in a circle but can't go forward too well yet. He gets so frustrated because he wants something, and tries to get it but moves in the wrong direction!

Solids Sam gets two meals a day. Two Tablespoons of cereal and Two tablespoons of a fruit for breakfast, and then the same thing but a veggie for dinner. He has to have the cereal mixed with the food to eat it though, otherwise he doesn't like the taste.

I just keep refilling gallon jugs of the Culligan water at my grocery store...I think a gallon refill is 35 cents.

BC- condoms, but really not an issue

RO-ideally, we'd like them to be 2.5-3 yrs apart...I haven't done the math yet to see when we'd need to start trying

crib- we've had her lowered to the middle setting from the beginning

Clothes-still in some 3-6 month but slowly moving on up

Solids-I am so happy to report that as of 3 days ago, Noa really has gotten the hang of this whole "solids" thing...it took a good 2 weeks for her to figure out how to swallow  She's been getting cereal w/ bananas in the morning and sweet tators at lunch...but now that she's gotten better, we'll start introducing other things

I have a brita filter on my tap water and I usually use it or if the grocery store has Nursery water on sale I'll buy it. http://www.nurserywater.com/

IUAlum- You should be so proud of yourself for making it this long!! Seven months is really spectacular.

Hi Ladies,
I haven't posted in forever, but check in often. These March babes are beautiful, keep the pictures coming!

Emi turned SEVEN months old yesterday! She also had her 6mo WBV, since the clinic's scheduling is so screwed up. At any rate, here are her stats:

weight: 18lb, 8oz. (75 percentile)
height: 27 inches (75 percentile)
I forget what her head circum. was, but it was in the 25th percentile. Doc said she looked great, which was a relief since we've been battling colds and ear infections seemingly nonstop since starting daycare in September. Poor kid, just when she's feeling better we go and give her a couple shots that make her feel lousey again. Hope she's back to her cheerful self soon!

I did have a question for you gals. Currently I'm still BF and pumping is going okay. Supply hasn't really been an issue for us, yet. (I'm really hoping to make it a whole year.) In addition, Emi usually gets cereal and/or fruit in the am and a veggie in the late afternoon - just the gerber 1st foods stuff so far. My ped told me yesterday to go ahead and start Emi on table and finger foods, which I thought was sort of soon. Emi has two teeth on the bottom. Has anyone else started finger foods/mashed up version of family dinner yet?

Here's a couple shots of my girl enjoying a beautiful fall day...

honey_bee - I've started DS on finger foods. He gets Gerber Puffs or O cereal from Whole Foods. He loves it! I was scared of him choking, but it hasn't been an issue. I used to cut up the cereal, but I don't anymore - He can chew the bits of cereal really well. DS gets a kick out of feeding himself, but it's messy. You'll end up with cereal everywhere!

We'll also feed him bits of meat and veggies that we cook for our dinner. He prefers that over his baby food.

BC- Got an IUD put in today! :( ... we were doing condoms, but never remembered! Gosh!
RO- (Am I the only one who is loving the PP sex?) I REALLY, REALLY want to have more kids SOON...I mean...getting pg now. But, DH wants to wait, hence the IUD. Sooo heartbroken here! I want 2 more pregnancies. I do drop 4 eggs every month...which can mean a HUGE family...but, who cares! I'd love it!
Solids- Yes, breakfast, lunch, and dinner...all made by mamma!
BF- Stopped last month!
FF- Tap Water. Although I have taught them how to use a straw and I give them Nursery water through the straw cup after solids.
Crib- Lowered and sans bumpers. Using a Crib Shield now! Nina was caught standing up!
Clothes- On 6-12 months here on both girls.
Crawling- Army crawling for both kids. Nina can do some crawling "steps", but Ella is still rocking when it comes to that!

BC Condoms, but not very frequent in our house either. I am still having pain with sex too. Anyone else dealing with pain?

RO The original plan was to have them about 2 years apart or so. But since I am working part time now and will not have paid maternity leave we’ll have to revisit. We just moved and really can’t afford to go with out my paycheck. Plus, daycare for two kids (even if only two days a week) is pricey. Hopefully within a year I’ll have a good freelance side business going and none of this will any longer be a problem.

BF Still going strong here too! My goal is to do it a year as well, but we’ll see since my pumping output is not very great.

Crib We lowered it this weekend since we moved and had to reset it up; we figured it was easier to just do it while it was apart.

Clothes He still fits 3-6, but those are mostly summer so I’m adding in 6-9 and 6-12 month stuff, which is starting to fit him pretty well. The sleeves and pants are a bit long but he’s getting there.

Crawling Not even close. O isn’t even sitting yet. Is this OK? I’m worried now.

Solids Owen gets two meals a day (usually, sometimes three). The cereals didn’t do well for him at all. Both rice and oatmeal seemed to upset his tummy. He eats veggies and fruits each day (homemade by mommy:)). So far we’ve done: apples, avocados, bananas, sweet potatoes, green beans, peas. I think that’s all we’ve tried so far.

BC - haha, it's a non issue! Once it's an issue again we'll probably use condoms and eventually he'll get the Big V!

RO - I'm probably done having kids, but we're not 100% sure. I'm already 37, so we'll have to make up our minds soon. If we did have a 3rd, I'd want to wait until Phoebe was at least 2.

BF - we just stopped BFing about 2 weeks ago. I had supply issues to begin with, but once I stopped taking Reglan I totally dried up.

Crib - still on the highest setting. We'll lower it when she pulls a Maura.

clothes - still in 3-6 months. I'll buy her winter clothes in 6-12 because I think she'll be there soon.

solids - she gets one meal a day, if that. She doesn't have any interest in solids. I offer them most nights at dinner time, but she barely swallows a teaspoonfull.

crawling - she's getting on all fours and will occassionally go backwards, but mostly she just face plants. I think we have a few weeks, at least, until she masters it.

I'm not sure if you saw my earlier post... I have TONS of pain when we dtd but that's because I have to have an episiotomy revision for an impinged nerve. The dr said at first that it was just dryness from BF and to use lots of lube. He then prescribed lidocaine creme. That didn't help in the least for me because of the nerve issues but it may work for you. You could talk to your dr if it's that big of an issue because it's safe to use when BF and it just numbs the area a bit.

tuni-Get any good answers at your appt yesterday?

I did indeed! First, I was given a prescription for a low-dose pill, instead of the mini pill. I guess once BF is well-established after 6 mo, the mini pill isn't necessary. The doc also said that the BFing creates a menopausal-like condition in women - meaning the tissue in question becomes very dry and very thin. The estrogen in the pill should help; if not, I'll get a prescription for a topical estrogen cream.

In other news....someone please tell me I'm not the only one with a child who still sleeps like crap. We moved DD into her own room a few weeks (as a recap, we co-slept in the same bed until 4 mo, and then used her crib as a sidecar until 6.5 mo). I thought maybe the proximity to me was causing her to wake up more than she normally would. Nope. She still wakes up 4-5 times after going to bed for the night, and her longest stretch is just 3 hours.

Tunibell~ My DD sleeps like crap, we too cosleep but if you put her in her own bed she wakes after 20 minutes. She wants to be touched while sleeping. If not she gets scared. She wakes 4-5 times a night and 2 or 3 she eats.
I know I probably did this to myself so I am not complaining. My DH actually is moving her crib into our room. As he doesn't want her to sleep alone. He is scared.

We also have the problem where she does not eat enough during the day. she still only eats 4 oz of formula at a time. so she eats more often.

Honeybee: I asked our doctor about them and she said hold off and if I really wanted her to have something to start with the puffs that disolve in the mouth first. I started with the O's initially, but backed off because dd gagged a little. So, taking the doctors advice I bought the gerbers puffs.

lovinit: I am with you on the good sex. AF arrived so early for me, that might have something to do with it, but to be honest I think something got rearranged down there during labor, it was good before, but not this good.

DS is a terrible sleeper as well! I'm actually a tiny bit relieved to hear he is not the only baby still getting up multiple times a night!

I'm at my wit's end! He has been in his crib in his own room since he was three months old. He has not yet mastered putting himself back to sleep, so we end up rocking him and/or feeding him 3 (or more) times a night. On a good night, he only wakes up twice- (after 11).
I'm not going to do the CIO thing, but does anyone have another book or suggestion we could maybe try??

:o Me too. (I know my sister lurks here sometimes, and while I love her, I don't think she needs to know the intimate details of my sex life. We get enough of that from our other sister! )

G was having a terrible time for a while, getting up 4-5 times/night and I was going crazy! Part of it we think was teething. We've gone back down to 1-2 wakings/night lately. We've started putting him to bed much earlier (7ish as opposed to 9ish or later) and that's helped some. I also think DH is better at it than I am. I think G senses when I'm frustrated in the middle of the night and that just makes it worse. DH is much more calm than I.

Jenn I know Weissbluth has 3 options for sleep training in Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. For him, CIO is basically the last one to try if nothing else works. We might try some of his suggestions (once I finally getting around to reading the darn thing. I've had it since G was 6 weeks old!)

I, too, am glad I'm in the same boat with the multiple night wakings...although I still think Noa's was brought on by the hospital stay, since she was only waking up once before her surgery. She will now wake 4-5 times/night on most nights and dh and are so SO exhausted. She goes down early, by 6 every night. I would maybe be able to handle her night wakings better if she slept past 5:30 every morning but the little stinkpot is up at 5:30 (or sometimes even 5:00) every morning!

kdotp, our situation is the exact opposite...I'm much more patient than Dh when it comes to her wakings. Dh is so fed up! it's gotten to the point where I'd rather just deal with her each time than have to listen to him!

Better sex PP?! I didn't even know that existed!

clothes: Ben is in 6-9 mos clothes. Lengthwise - he is just about in 12 mos clothes, but they are too big around his waist. I'm not buying anymore 9 mos things (I don't think there is a huge diff b/w 6 and 9 mos clothes anyway).

crawling, etc: he's so close to crawling. He sees something in front of him, gets himself in position to crawl, wiggles his butt a little bit, reaches and then gives up and tries to roll towards it (but usually ends up on the other side of the room from it). It actually is pretty funny to watch.

sleeping: Ben was waking a few times a night, then we both got sick and I decided it was time for both our sakes that he sleep for longer stretches at night. Though CIO isn't too popular around here...we're in the midst of it now. Its what is working for us. He goes down around 6:30-7pm for bed, wakes up between 10-12 and I feed him then. If he wakes up again before 5:30, we're letting him cry. The first night was HELL - he cried for 2 hours from 3-5am and I finally fed him at 5am. We're on night 5 or 6 now - he typically wakes up once or twice after that first feeding and just fusses for about 10 minutes then goes back to sleep. We'll see what it brings in the long-term.

Seth has now rolled over from tummy to back! ONCE. But still, at least it was once. Silly kid.

The past 2 nights I have added an ounce or two of formula to his bottle. I swear, I must have been putting some intense pressure on myself, because as soon as we did that, my pumping output has seriously increased! I am back at around 25 oz per day (I was down to like 18) and now I am feeling a lot better about the whole thing. If all it takes is half a bottle a day to be formula, I am all about that, and hopefully I will be able to continue for 5 more months. WHEW!

Does anyone else's kid bite their lower lip all the time?

A car seat question. We have a Britax Roundabout (which I love) in the car which Seth is in 75% of the time. We're still using the Snugride in the other car, but he doesn't seem so comfy in there. I'm thinking about the Evenflo Triumph for the other car plus my mom's car. Anyone use this? Any thoughts?

Everyone's pictures are just AWESOME.

Heidi, I'm dying to know how your CIO is going. We're at our wits end over here too with night wakings and there comes a point where you have to say enoughs enough. We're going to do some sort of sleep training once she gets back to normal after her immunizations (those always throw her sleep out of wack for a good 5-6 days).

Shannon - Great job on the Buddy Walk, that's wonderful!

CIO - Unbeknownst to me, my hubby has been letting DS cry it out a little. I guess he's been turning down the baby monitor low enough that he'll only hear him when he's really going at it. So he's not letting him cry for two hours, but he's not getting right up either. I'm a little upset that he didn't consult me, but he knows what I would probably say about it, and DH is bearing the brunt of the nighttime wakings. (We take shifts - and DS has been up quite often during his shift.) Actually, it seems to be working okay. This morning, he slept in his crib until 7:00 am, which is has never done! And last night, he woke up as I was putting him in his crib, and I just left him there, and he put himself back to sleep.

Hi Ladies! I have a question for you about juice. Sean's 8 months old today (how can that be???) and he's moving up to the next room at daycare on Monday. One of the things they start working on is getting them to drink juice out of a sippy cup at 9 months.

He's only had juice on a few occasions and wasn't really that crazy about it. Should I be giving him juice regularly? I usually only do if he is constipated, but I'm wondering if he should start having it a couple of times a week to get him ready for the sippy cup. I always dilute the apple juice so it's not full strength :)
