uggghh I just lost a huge post...

Noelle is trying to walk she will let go and go forward and then fall over laughing because she cracks herself up! She is like hey look mom no hands no hands hahahaha, lol
Ladies I have a drama queen on my hands here....Yesterday we were at target and I held up this pair of shoes (stride rite has a brand at target called baby steps) so Noelle started screaming I mean soo loud a target employee came over to us  So I handed the shoes to her and she immediately stopped crying. the nerve of that little girl. Yes the shoes came home with us...She wouldn't even let them ring the shoes up the lady had to come around and ring them up in the carseat  She also fell asleep with the shoes and found them on the bed as soon as she woke up. So needless to say she wore them to daycare and Ladies~ I have become the mom whose child runs the house :o

Here are the shoes she HAD.2.HAVE

LOL!!! At least she's got good taste. I'd probably cry too if I had to give those cute shoes back.

Actually my husband commented on how easy they were. They included sticky tape so that you could get the 2 pieces lined up correctly. Gates were wayyyyyyyy worse for us.

I totally forgot to post Noelle's 9 month stats

16 lbs 1 oz
27 inches

Caitlin's 9 month stats
weight - 16 pounds 3 ounces
height - 27.5

The visit went really well today. We saw a new doc - a very popular female ped who I had to call 3 months out to get. I can see why she is so popular - she has an amazing way with kids as well as moms:) So she walks in and introduces herself and Caitlin was on the floor eating cherrios off of a blanket. The doc put her on her back and she rolled over and sat up, reached for and picked up a cherrio and pulled up on a chair. The doc says "well, she just answered my first 3 questions:)" Caitlin is still in the 10% for weight but the doc was far from concerned seeing as she is staying within her curve - she told me that gone are the days that we want to encourage the chubby gerber baby with all of the weight issues with kids today. She also asked how she was sleeping and I told her that she was usualy up 1-2 times, but nurses and goes right back. She said that she is not surprised that she still needs to eat overnight. She said that she doesn't do sleep advice because she isn't the one who has to get up with her patients;) .

OK, I am off to give DS a bath. Hi to all and have a great night!

That would be enough to make me love her!

But speaking of sleeping we had our best night ever! Henry only woke up once! So he slept from 8-7:30 and woke up once at 4:45 to eat. I am a new woman--I could probably even operate heavy equiptment! LOL

We had an *awesome* sleep night too...6:15pm-5:50 am when I woke her up. Not a peep all night long.

YEAH for good sleep!

BB - I am glad that you feel great - my problem is that I almost feel worse after getting alot of sleep, like a mild hangover. I really don't start feeling good until I have had 3 nights of sleep (and that doesn't happen alll that often!)

solong - So is C feeling better? Did she ever get the sores in her mouth?

We had a pretty good night also - just up twice (once to eat and once to re-settle.) For the past few nights C has woken up crying really hard - I am thinking maybe a bad dream or something because when she wakes to eat she just cries softly. She did sleep in until 6:30am so that is a huge present to me:)

I forgot to add that yesterday at her appt, Cailtin had a finger prick to test her iron. She didn't make a sound when the nurse did it and then she got a bright pink bandaid. As we were checking out she was holding up her finger and "showing" everyone - she was quite proud of that bandaid. When we got to the car I took it off because I know that within a minute she would have had it off and in her mouth and she threw a world class fit! When we got home DH came out to get her and she was holding up her finger and pouting - I am so in trouble when she is a pre-teen:D

Have a great Wednesday!

allison-turns out Court has roseola, not HFM. Her rash is just about gone and she's back to normal. The only reason I found out is because my daycare made me go to the doctor to get her a diagnosis. She made Courtney stay in "quarrantine" at daycare until I did. I can understand her point of view, but my poor child was being punished by not getting to play with the other kids because of something she didn't even do.

Beach - thanks for the info..I am going to look into getting some. Woo Hoo on the great sleep - go Henry!! Glad to hear that Father's Day went so well! Sorry to hear about the fridge...you don't realize how all those little jars of stuff add up until you have to throw them all out and replace everything!

Solong - woo hoo on the good sleep!! Glad to hear Court is feeling better and so sorry that she was separated from the other children..that is just awful!

Alison - I totally agree on the one good night of sleep - it just makes me feel even cr*pier...so sorry C has been having nightmares..I think A had one the other night...she woke SCREAMING and was even shaking when I went to get her. C is such a big girl - showing off her bandaid and getting Dad wrapped around her little finger with the pouting...too cute! Your doctor sounds amazing..I wish I had one that was like that - I got yelled at last time for feeding A at night...

Brink - how is the house stuff going?

Not much going on around here..I am kind of upset about daycare - she has come home a few times the past few weeks with bruises on her forehead and a scrape on her belly and no one can tell me what happened. They are supposed to do accident reports and I've spoken to the teachers twice now...I guess tonight I will discuss with the director. I just hate being the mom that always complains.

jo&sean
06-21-2006, 08:19 PM
Yeah for all the great sleepers :)

Cr8nme - Those are some pretty cute shoes - I can see why Noelle was determined to get them ;)

Solongtogo - At least you know what it was/is. Our daycare has the same policy about keeping babies in the "Q" until they know for sure what it is.

Cr8zy - So sorry about all the bruises A has had. I would get po'd too if they didn't know what they were from.

I know I am missing people on the so's.

Addy had a horrible day yesterday. A new little boy in her class BIT her on the face - just under her right eye. All of the teachers and the director said it was the worst bite they have ever seen. I am really pleased with how they handled it - so far above the call of duty. It makes me sad to see her hurt but it really has bothered all of us grownups more then it has her. The little boy that bit her will go through a behavior modification program and "shadowing" in class so that any type of that behavior can be caught and corrected immediately. The parents have to agree to the program or he will not be allowed to come back. When I picked her up this afternoon, the director saw me and came right out to talk to me. She said the parents were mortified and asked if there was anything they could do for Addy which I thought was sweet. Her eye looks much better this evening - it is amazing how fast they heal!

Poor Addy!! Or should I say - poor mommy :(

I'm proud to report that Alex is officially crawling! She has been doing the inchworm for weeks now, but yesterday after daycare it was clear she had figured it out. She'll be 10 months on Sunday. crazy!

She had much better days at daycare this week. Tuesday was "okay" and yesterday was even better! She's definitely teething big time - but she seems okay just chomping away on stuff.

Oh - and the biggest news - I've now been eating dairy for two weeks, and Alex has been absolutely fine! So, we'll transition her to regular milk at 12 months just like everyone else :) Of course, we'll still have to see how she does, but the fact that she's tolerating dairy in my bm is a great sign obviously.

cr8zyforaf
06-22-2006, 06:39 AM
Jo&Sean - oh no..that is just awful. I am so glad the daycare really stepped up and handled it so well. Poor little Addy!

dbers - Yeah for Alex!! I am so glad she is doing better at daycare...it always breaks my heart to see the kids so upset when their parents leave them. Great news about the dairy!! I will keep my fingers crossed for you guys - I remember the allergy issues you dealt with in the beginning.

Nothing exciting going on here...Ashley's new thing is sticking her hand in my mouth..she finds it hysterical. And, she likes to stick her finger in her nose...which is gross...she likes to stick her fingers in things...which could be a bad thing :)...Happy Thursday!!

solong - I am so glad that C ended up not having HFM, but I am sorry about the quarentine!

jo - Poor Addy! I hope that the behavior modification class works:)

dbers - Yeah for A tolerating dairy and for crawling!

So I need imput. I want to get Caitlin something sort of special for her 1st b-day. Here are the two things that I like right now - what do you all think?

http://a248.e.akamai.net/f/248/12659/30d/s7diod-isorigin.scene7.com/is/image/ThingsRemembered/000559771?wid=200&op_sharpen=1

I think that the flower piggy bank is so cute and I would be able to engrave her name on it. I also loved the idea of the jewelry box (cr8zy - was it you that gave me this idea?). This particular box comes with the cute initial necklace. Also would I engrave her b-day date or her first b-day date? I just see a girl keeping something like this forever - I am sure that when she is a teenager she will think that it is dumb, but maybe after she will think it is special again.

So a friend came over yesterday and her DD and Cailtin were playing. She says "I hope that you don't take this the wrong way, but Caitlin looks like a Kamodo Dragon when she crawls." You know how they swing their front legs out and around when then walk. It is funny because she sort of does:)

Happy Thursday!

Alison - yes..Ashley is getting a jewlery box from us - I still have my first jewlery box and I don't remember ever thinking it was dumb. I have had a hard time finding one I like...

This one is on sale at PBK:

Dbers - Yeah for the crawling!! So glad she is had a better day at daycare too. That has to be a relief for you.

Cr8zy - That is really funny about A sticking her hand in your mouth. Addy is obsessed with trying to stick her fingers in my ear!

Alison - I love that piggy bank but the jewelry box is nice too...I actually still have the piggy bank that I got for my first birthday. It is very special to me :)

Thanks for all the well wishes for Addy. It looked so much better this morning but I bet it will take a week or so for it to go away completely (if not longer..). Last night she was walking all over the house with her "walker" and was trying to go really, really fast which scared the crap out of me. I walked behind her trying to keep her at a pace acceptable to mommy and of course she got frustrated ;) So independent.

I think I had mentioned this but I officially "quit" my job and will be self-employed as of Monday :) The office is taking me out to lunch today to wish me well but the funny thing is that all of the guys I work with have already signed up to be my my first clients so it's not like I am going very far :)

roseola, not HFM for us too! Hi, everyone. I hadn't checked CC for ten days. Boy did I miss you all.... I was away last week visiting my parents and there was a lot of baby illness drama, including a visit to the ER. Everything is fine, but here's what happened....

Saturday - Kaito is exposed to HFM from a friend's son
Monday - Kaito spikes a 103/104 fever for four days. I figure it's the beginning of HFM but no sores develop. I give him only .8mL of Tylenol, as the advice nurse instructed.
Thursday - By Day 4 Kaito is just laying there. Doesn't roll over or anything. He is HOT. I call our dr. back and he says I need to see a doctor that day. My insurance won't pay for a visit to a ped and says I need to go to the ER.
Fortunately the ER visit goes fine, no unnecessary tests. They give him 1.2 mL of Tylenol AND Motrin to bring his fever down.
Friday - Kaito breaks out into a rash.
Saturday - We are home. I look stuff up in my books. Turns out he likely had roseola....

I seriously don't understand why my insurance wouldn't pay for a regular ped office visit as an ER visit is more expensive.

Solongtogo- I think it's so strange that Kaito and Courtney experienced the same illness at the same time and the mommies initially thought it was HFM!

crawling - Kaito started crawling 3 days before his nine month birthday.

cr8zy - LOVE that high chair pic. It made me laugh so hard.

Andrea - I had the same question about medicine and teething. So far I haven't given Kaito anything but I might at night like you mommies are doing. I am in major sleep deprivation mode as well.

lights & fans - YUP. Kaito loves them.

pixie - I think I am going to try to have a small birthday party for Kaito too, mainly family and a few close friends with children. But I haven't actually made a guest list yet. I find that when I start the parties get bigger than I initially plan them to be. But I guess I figured that the first birthday parties I've been to, if the parties are too big, they are overwhelming for the 1 year olds. That said, I ABSOLUTELY love the themes that you mommies are brainstorming.

Andrea - my condolences to your family....

Thank you all for the support. The memorial is tomorrow.

Please know that I have been reading along, loving the new pictures, applauding the new milestones and thinking good thoughts towards all of "our" babies who have been ill or hurt. I'm just too drained to do individual replies.

I will say, though, that I LOVE the engraved jewelry box idea. I never would have thought of that. Thanks!

Andrea - Thinking of you and your family.

Jo - so glad Addy is feeling better - question about the walker - does Addy do it on her own? Ashley has a walker but it seems to roll too fast and her feet can't keep up - maybe she just isn't ready.

Kay - weird about the insurance thing...you can't take Kato to the doctor if he is sick? Glad he is feeling better - that must have been really scary. Woo Hoo for crawling!

Ashley had a great night last night - didn't hear a peep from 7:45 - 7:15AM - I even overslept. We had a HORRIBLE storm that woke me up - but she didn't stir.

I am feeling drained and sad...having a hard time lately..missing my old life and I feel guilty about it. I miss being able to just go places and not worry about messing with the schedule, packing bags..etc. With DH never home, I just feel stuck and lonely. I've tried talking to him, but he just doesn't get it.

Question - I have baseball tickets for what was a 1:15 game that was moved to 4:30 - I was planning on taking A...but now I am worried about her schedule..should I go...I don't plan on staying the whole time..I just don't want to mess around when we are doing so well...but I really want to go.

Morning everyone!

andrea - I'm just catching up, but wanted to tell you that I am so sorry about your fil :( My DH lost his dad earlier this year & it was so hard. Hugs to you & your family.

cra8zy - I know what you mean about the schedule... we have been talking about how our poor kid has *no* evening routine... our fault b/c our days are so rarely the same. It *IS* hard to give up your "old" life & its okay to miss it once in awhile!

kay - I'm so sorry to hear that Kaito was sick! Many times, if you have an HMO & you are away from home, the insurance co will only pay for an ER visit. In your case it does seem counter-productive.... thank goodness DS is better now!

cr8nme - holy wow! I can't believe our little ones are on their feet!

jo - congrats on becoming self-employed!!! That is very exciting! I've been thinking of getting one of those walkers for L... seems like she would really like it!

first birthday gift - the jewelry box is such a great idea!

So things are going well with us... Lily has been pretty happy lately & last night she slept better! (not as good as Ashley! but still, a 4 hour stretch was nice for me :) ) She has been practicing standing & crawls FAST! Her favorite thing to do right now is dump out the dog's water dish

Hi everyone. I'm excited about this site, just sorry I didn't get on from the start!!
Allison, thanks for the invite- I will have to get on that site as well. Our kids are really close in age!
My son is finally sleeping in his crib after crying for the past 15 min and I'll probably only get a couple hours out of it. He has slept in his swing beside our bed for the past 9 months!! How bad is that??! We finally got him into his crib, if only he slept as well as his big sis. He just started crawling last week and is in to absolutely everything. I can't get anything done!! What do you guys do with your kiddos when your trying to clean?

walking well ladies-Hunter is walking non-stop...he gets into EVERYTHING! And falls constantly-he thinks he can stand on things, well, that fall with him (like toys) Sometimes he even runs. I bought a plastic "dingo" fence that I put around the things I don't want him to get into. He looks too little to be walking. how the time goes by!
That's a great thing to have when cleaning
Other than putting him in that, we follows me around while I vaccum (very cute) or I put him in his highchair w/ some water and bubbles when I clen the kitchen-he loves to splash, but be sure to put down the towels. I don't ge too much cleaning done other than nap time and when it's the weekend.

New house We are putting and offer on a new house Tuesday!!! it's in a town next to us, near my mom, and has alot of yard. We're so excited!!

Andrea So sorry to hear about your loss-thinking of you and your family.

cra8zy I feel that way too sometimes (I cna't imagine how hard it must be without DH though). Esp. when I can't go tanning when I want, or when I can't spend time shopping. get out at least once a month-with your girlfriends and get a babysitter/have one of your friends watch her while you go to the spa/even shop! Then when hey want to go out you can repay them.

1st birthday We are having a BBQ w/ a Baby Einsten theme. Got all the decor from my mom's work-free! So excited. My cousin is making H a birthday hat I wanted to buy :-) I don't know what kind of sentimental gift to buy him. Looks like we may end up having it at our new house!!!!

Welcome, Lora!

crawling & sleep - Kaito started crawling last week and his nap schedule has gone completely haywire. Today he didn't nap AT ALL until 4 pm, even though we tried TWICE to put him to bed. He sits up in his crib, crawls around, cries, then calms down and plays. Normally he's really good at putting himself to sleep. It's like he's too busy to sleep or something... He went to bed at night without a fuss. Hopefully he'll sleep okay tonight....
Have any of you noticed that your baby's sleep schedule has changed since crawling?

puffs - so I know that many of you moved up from pureed foods to puffs. What are puffs? I got Cheerios today and he seemed to do fine with those. I got "Teddy Puffs" at an organic grocery store today but I think the puffs that most people are referring to are something else. Are they a certain brand?

Thanks, ladies, for responding this query!

We have Gerber Puffs:

http://www.gerber.com/prodcat?catid=524

They have them in fruit and veggie - they melt in your mouth, so I guess they may be less of a choking hazard.

Courtney worships those darn puffs. No matter where she is in the room, if I put some out for her she'll come flying.

if I put some out for her she'll come flying.

This made me laugh out loud - Ashley is the same way - if she hears them rattling in the can, she screams until she can put one in her mouth.

pixi - Ash is the same way - loves the dog bowls and no matter where I try to hide them, she finds them. Glad that Lily is sleeping a bit better.

Lora and Gary -welcome! Ha...Ashley was/is also a cr*ppy sleeper - she slept in her car seat for almost 5 months so don't feel bad..you do what you can. As far as cleaning...I can usually just put Ashley down near me - as long as I can keep an eye on her I can get some stuff done.

Allison - yes, we went to the game - Ashley was so good. My dad went with us which was nice - we don't hang out without my mom very often and I really think he enjoyed having Ashley and I to himself. We stayed until about 6:30.

Randysmandy - WALKING...woo hoo for Hunter - what a big boy! How exciting about the new house - I will keep my fingers crossed - do you live with your MIL now? If so...I've got my fingers and legs crossed - I think I remember you living upstairs from your MIL...

Kay - we've also had days where Ashley refuses to nap. How did he sleep last night Ashley actually started sleeping better (at night...her naps got even cr*ppier) once she started moving..I think she just wears herself out. She sleeps horrible at daycare (I think there is just too much going on and she is worried that she will miss something). Usually at home, I can get her to take one good nap (about an hour) in the early afternoon.

Well, MIL is at it again - there is a huge fight because she wants us to change the date of Ashley's party due to the fact that another family member is having a party on the same day at the same time. Pray that DH sticks up for us and stands his ground - we had a huge discussion about it last night and he said we are not changing it...please let him not cave when she starts screaming and yelling!

Happy Monday

cr8zy - ooh, your MIL just burns me up! I hope DH sticks to his guns & doesn't cave!

gerber puffs - Lily is the *same* way.... she is CRAZY for those things! She bangs her highchair or the table whenever she sees the container!

Lora & Gary - welcome! I'm so happy that our group is getting bigger!

I seriously thought that about Court too! Let me tell you, it sure is wierd seeing upper teeth in your kids mouth after going so long with it being empty.

Maybe a milestone? Could this be her first word? She's saying it over and over..what is it you ask? Not mama. Not dada, not even baby. No no...Courtney is saying the word WOAH. Good grief.

cleaning with the mobile baby? Well I just discovered this weekend that Caitlin loves to play with magnets on the fridge, so I reserve those for special occasions where I need to get something done. She will also play with some stainless steel bowls and spoons. Mostly I try to get things done in the am when she sleeps or after dinner whlie DH plays with them.

puffs - C used to love these but really prefers cherrios now - maybe because they dissolve too easily.

crawling and sleep - Yeah, we went thru a transisiton period when C started crawling. It lasted a few long days but then returned to normal.

We had a nice weekend. Caitlin is saying mama like crazy as well as making a grr grr sound. She is so strong now, pulling up and standing for long periods of time but she seems to have no interest in letting go and standing without holding on to something. DH's bathroom is at the bottom of our stairs and he went in to blow his nose and came out to Cailtin climbing the stairs - she made it up 3! Scary, I am so not ready for her to be walking - it is so hard keeping track of both of them now and she is pretty slow.

I have decided on the flower piggy bank and the laugh and learn learning home for Caitlin's first b-day. DH found out Friday that he will be out of town on her actual b-day - gosh it just made me so sad. I don't want to celebrate her b-day on the 9th darnit!

cr8zy - I am so sorry about the drama surrounding A's b-day party - it is an unfortunate coinsidence that the other party is on the same day at the same time. Glad that you and A had fun with your dad at the game!

solong - Woah! That is so cute if that is her first word.

I hope that you all are having a good Monday!

puffs - Thanks for telling me about the Gerber puffs. I've got to go to a regular grocery store to find these., I've been shopping mainly at Costco and a small chain store called Trader Joe's and neither carry them. I know we've had this discussion before, but why would gerber make puffs with strawberry and corn puffs when these are supposed no-nos for babies under 1 year of age???

cr8zy - With just 1 one hour nap yesterday, Kaito slept pretty well. He slept from about 8 pm until 4:40. Then he played in our bed for an hour, then went back to sleep until about 7:30. So I guess it was all okay.

Hey, ladies...

Welcome, Lora!- You'll have a good time in here - the September Mommies are an awesome group of women.

Naomi had her 9 month WBV yesterday.
New Stats
Height: 27 1/2 inches - 50th percentile
Weight- 16 lbs 14 oz- 18th percentile

I posted this in the "first birthday party ideas" thread. Thought I'd bring it here too- I'd love your opinions!

Ok, I've lost my everlovin' mind. I'm obsessed. I've been scouring the internet for ideas of what to dress Naomi in - to remind y'all we're doing a Enchanted Garden there and I want to dress her as a fairy, complete with wings. I rationalize this by saying this will be her Halloween costume as well!:p

Here are some of my favorites - they can all be made in her size- what do you think?

I love the first and last one Andrea! Those are so cute.

I know we've talked about it before, but these stats seriously are confusing, and I wish they would do away with them. How is it that Naomi is in the 40th percentile at 16.14, but Courtney is in the 25th at 17.7??? Makes no sense.

AndreaMMS

You know, Lisa, I was thinking the same freakin' thing when the pediatrician told me her stats. I remembered that a few of the other babies were in the mid-low sixteen pound range and had been called very low percentiles. It's all a big eye-rolling shrug-fest to me.

AndreaMMS
06-27-2006, 05:54 AM
I just plugged her stats into a chart here:

http://www.mybirthcare.com/favorites/babygrowthchart.asp

and it said that she was in the 18th percentile for weight and 57th for height!

cr8zyforaf
06-27-2006, 06:09 AM
My doctor said that the nurses 'guess' the percentiles (Ashley has a bubble chart that the weight, height, and head circ. is plotted on..she said more important than the numbers is the curve of the chart..for example, Ashley has been in the 90's for weight since day one (fat a**)...and if she dropped into the 50s...that would be a red flag).

Andrea - I LOVE the last one. I think that deep color purple would look so good on Naomi. I really think the enchanted forest idea is great...

Kay - glad to hear the sleeping was a bit better. I have the same questions about the puff - I gave her the strawberry puffs thinking it couldn't have that much strawberry in them...WRONG..she was covered in hives when I picked her up from daycare. I also bought a bunch of Earth's Best baby food - winter mix veggies and summer veggies - got them home and realized that they all have corn in them...WHY??

It is raining here, and has been raining since Saturday - really depressing. We booked our first beach vacation - August 13-20. I am very excited - I think we will have a great time. A bit concerned about the sleeping since we will all be in one room.

Andrea - My fave is the last one. We are doing a Butterfly theme and I bought this dress anda pair of wings:

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c139/philnikki/AvasBirthday1.jpg

from www.butterflycraze.com (thanks to whoever let me become addicted to that site lol) We are going to get butterflies too and use them in her new big girl room at the new house, and I am doing the same thing about it being her Halloween Costume (except it will probably be too cold for it, so I will end up with something else! lol) But its fun for them to play dress up in, right? lol

puffs - one obsessed kiddo over here too! She LOVES those things. There are two sure fire distractions for my daughter: puffs and letting her pull out all of the diapers from her diaper basket! ha ha

Welcome Lora & Gary!!!

About us - Well, Ava is trying to walk folks. She is pulling up on EVERYTHING (scares the crap out of me) and walks along the couch, coffee table, etc while holding on. She wants down all of the time now so that she can hold onto my hands and take off. She practically runs! We are going to be starting the house by the middle of July. We are supposed to close on the construction loan in a week. We still haven't sold our house, but we have some more open houses scheduled, so wish us luck!

I think that's about it!

I'll drop off a few pics from this past weekend:

I'm pretty sure your pedi gave you the wrong percentile as well...maybe she looked at the wrong area or she was thinking that number and it just popped out. There's no way Naomi is in the 40th.

Andrea - Calitin was 16-3 at her 9m WBV and that was 10%. I agree that sometimes there must be an error with the way that it is plotted my the nurse. One time I saw a nurse use a ruler to line it up but last time the nurse just used her finger.

BTW - I like the dark purple dress too!

nikki - cuteness as always!

cr8nme - looks like our current stats didn't make it on the first page
Caitlin's 9 month stats
weight - 16 pounds 3 ounces
height - 27.5 in

Thanks much!

Hi Everyone!!

I'll see how much I can get typed- little manly man is sleeping on my lap and I may need to be committed tonight! He took zero naps today and flipped out royaly when I stuck him in his crib tonight. Oh well...........

Nikki- Your DD is adorable!!

Andrea- What a cute idea for her 1st B-Day! I like the 1st one best.

Kay- My son hasn't been quite right since he has become more mobile. Yesterday he started walking behind his walker toy thing and I was hoping that would be enough to knock him out for the count- no luck!! He loves puffs. I can only give the sweet potato because he is milk/soy intolerant. He couldn't get them into his mouth fast enough earlier.

cr8zy- Does your DD have allergies too? I'm BF and have to watch everything I eat because of his intolerances. My DD grew out of this at 1 year. Hopefully he will be the same. I'm so sorry about your MIL. I'm new to this whole chat business and am still learning. So I checked out your journal the other day and about peed my pants laughing when I read about your MIL. I feel your pain. Good Luck!! We took a family vaca over Easter break with the outlaws and it wasn't so bad. We (the 4 of us) were in one small room for the entire week. It's do-able , nice to be able to get away.

Alison- Your DD will love the Laugh and Learn house. We had gotten it for my DD for xmas 2 yrs ago and little man loves it. Keeps him busy for a bit atleast. These boys are in to absolutely everything. Is your son getting jealous when your dd touches his stuff?

cr8nme- Did your DH make you put her into her crib? Hope things went well with that. As for teeth, I get bit daily and wish he didn't have any yet!

mobility and sleeping - well, Kaito is now officially banished from our bed in the mornings. I've been sneaking him in after his 4 or 5 AM wake-up because he then snoozes with us until about 6:30 or 7. Well two mornings in a row he has decided that he'd rather pull his mama and daddy's hair, crawl around, sit up, etc. Lora, I hope you get some rest, but I am glad I'm not alone... My DH and I are talking about going to bed like at 9 pm so I can get more rest before the monkey gets up in the mornings!!

Sandie - Yucky is the second word? That made me laugh. : )

growth charts you know, my eyes get cross eyed when I try to look at those growth charts. Maybe part of the discrepancy is it's hard to see the percentages on the growth charts??

We're due for the 9 month check up tomorrow.

Andrea & Nikki - fairy outfits are so cute. I'm looking forward to seeing Naomi and Ava in them

Hi Guys.

Well we had our first bought with stranger anxiety yesterday. A store clerk smiled at H and tried to talk to him and H burst out crying. It was aweful! H usually thinks its his life's mission to get everyone to smile at him. I really hope this doesn't last long. I love my friendly baby!

Sleep has been hit or miss with us as always... Last night was good (up 2x) but the night before was horrible (up 4x). UGH

We are doing better with solids. I am trying to do a finger food with each meal. I know you guys have probably been doing this for some time (and I have for a few weeks) but I'm so scared about choking after "the incident". It takes him so long to chew though and he tries to turn around and climb out of his high chair. So frustrating....

Exersise has been pretty non exsistant lately. H used to love walking in the stroller which we did for at least 30 min a day. Now he just struggles to get out of his stroller. I think the sling style seat is the problem, although it happens sometimes with our P3 too. It is also so hot here....But I need to get out of the house without spending money. It seems shopping has become my way to get out and about.

Still haven't decided anythign about the 1st birthday. I like your idea Alison about that play home. Very cute. I'm also thinking about a sand table. I figure whatever he doesn't get for 1st birthday he will get for christmas since it is so soon after.

We still don't have any first words. I mean he says mama and dada but not to DH and me! So that doesn't count. He does make a "mew" noise when he sees a cat, or a cat pic in a book. I'm not convinced that it is a real word yet though.

Cute pics of Ava

posted both here and in Oct mommies--Oh man I'm so far behind I'm not even going to try to catch up. NOthing personal to anyone. I just don't have the time to read through everything and reply nice and proper. :)

Alex got the ok to discontinue his helmet on Monday. He has his final measurements and after pictures taken on 7/6 but he'd been helmet free the last two days. We had just been down to nights so it hasn't been a huge change for him.

solids--we gave up entirely on purees. the kid has no interest in them. I've been feeding him table food in small pieces. So far he's had french fries, mashed potatoes, waffles, chicken strips, meatloaf, banana, canteloupe, pineapple, orange, bread, cheese, cheerios, green beans, pork loin, ham, and I'm sure some other things I'm forgetting. he hasn't spit a single thing back at me and does pretty good gumming it up with no teeth.

teeth--none yet but I'm pretty sure his first two are working their way out finally. He's been drooling a lot more and a lot fussier with his hands in his mouth.

crawling--still doing the army crawl but he he has started crawling up the stairs and pulling up on things (and getting stuck and screaming about it).

words--nothing that I"m aware of. I think he might have been intermittantly saying 'dada' for a while now but nothing consistent enough I'd say for sure it's a word.

whining--o Lord yes.

sleep--well his latest pattern is only getting up around 12-2 am and then around 5-6 am. However he seems to resist going back to sleep at the midnight waking which sucks.

Nikki Ava looks so darn cute in that bathing suit!

Cr8zy You and I have to start venting to eachother. Yes my MIL lives upstairs from you and we are taking them with us. Just part of an agreement we made a while ago-when I wasn't as smart as I am now. I will also be crossing everything possible. My FIL plans on taking his fishing boat and putting up a shed at the new house-good grief. We laid down some guidelines about the yard/his crap and my MIL came back with "you are giving me rules and flipped out on me when I told her what to give H for lunch!" I better be going to heaven!

Words Hunter says Na Na Na when he walks-have no idea what it means. He says mamma and dadda, but I don't know if he KNOWS what he is saying.

Puffs Babies shouldn't eat corn cause it's hard to digest, but the corn is flavored and tastes like popcorn-very yummy even to me! Doesn't bother H at all. We had the strawberry given to us and MIL gave H some-I screamed and he got a rash...not more strawberries.

9 month stats- I know Kaito is 19 pounds 4 ounces, but I forgot his height! I think I may have to call the ped to get the number...

explorer - I can't believe it's been less than a week since Kaito started crawling. He is really off exploring now. Today I set him down at the park and he just crawled all over the grass. I like watching him explore though it takes a lot for me to not grab him and hold him because he's getting dirty, or because I wouldn't want to be crawling in what he's crawling in.

I've got to run. I think I"m going for a 30 minute walk or something. It's 8:30 pm but I've got to get SOME exercise, even if it's just a short walk!

Hi Ladies! I don't have time for shoutouts but just wanted to say hi. Things have more hectic this week without working full time then when I was...weird how that works out sometimes. Hopefully things will slow down some.

Addy is doing great. She is on the verge of walking but not quite there. She walks along everything and anything and does let go but as soon as she realizes she has, she grabs for something in a panic. Her top tooth is finally starting to break through. Other then her being a bit grumpy from that, she is doing wonderful and is just so much fun! I can't get anything done when she is awake :)

We are off to a wedding in the middle of nowhere which means a 6 hour drive for us. I hope we can keep Addy entertained :) I am looking forward to getting out of town for a couple of days though.

Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!!

Hi all! I have been reading everyday but something always interupts me plus things are pretty boring around here - I am not complaining, sometimes boring is OK with me!

In Caitlin news she now loves to walk pushing something - she especially loves Aidan's potty and his huge dump truck. I am just glad that someone is getting some use out of that damn potty:rolleyes: I took some pictures today so I will post this weekend. Also she has been consistently signing back to me. She signs milk, more and all done! I am so happy. Tonight at dinner she had peas and blueberries. She would sign more and I would give her a pea and she would sign all done:D Then when she got a blueberry she would clap - guess she knows what she likes. She is too smart and funny for a 9 month old! I believe that she either has a cold, allergies or the top teeth are coming in because her nose is running and she was pretty cranky on and off today.

solong - great pic - that top is so cute! I saw your shoe ? over in parenting. I have some of the knock offs from 2 of the places that Booey posted and have been very pleased. I also bought a slightly used pair of Robeez (and have 2 from DS) and have been happy with that also.

Lora - Yes Caitlin's mission in life is to try and grab everything that DS is playing with. He is pretty good, but often reaches his breaking point and pushes or hits her. She loves him SO much - cute for us, very annoying for him:)

We are just going to be hanging out this weekend - no plans. I hope that you all have a very safe, fun and happy 4th weekend!!!

some firsts for us today!--Alex slept from 11:45 to 7 am this morning--that's kinda a first with how rarely he does that. When I went into his room he was STANDING in his crib (good thing I lowered that mattress Wed night). After I got his diaper changed in his crib he actually CRAWLED (belly up--not the army crawl) over to the side of the crib to pull back up. He alternated between crawling and army crawling all day.

He also has a rash on his nose and cheeks. I'm pretty sure it's a combo of heat rash and sleeping face down in teething drool but it looks awful. He has no rash anywhere else though so I'm just trying Aquafor for now. If it still looks really bad on Monday I might call the dr to see if she thinks I should bring him in or can suggest something other than aquafor to use.

Once again things have been crazy around here and I finally have time to read and post! We are enjoying Lauren so much, I just love watching her personality come out more and more!

Some new firsts:
- Lauren crawled for the first time on Monday, 4 hours before she turned 9 months! She did really good that night, crawling "normal", but ever since then, she's doing this weird crawl where she keeps one knee pointing toward the ceiling and pushes with that foot while crawling with the other like normal. Regardless, she gets to where she wants to go now! We're babyproofing this weekend!
- Along with the crawling, she now realizes it's ok to be on her belly (she's ALWAYS hated belly time) and since then, she's been sleeping on her belly. I came in her room to get her yesterday and she was sitting up! So, the crib got lowered all the way yesterday which she thought was the coolest! She's now an expert of starting on her back, rolling to her belly and sitting up.
- She started clapping and dancing! We went to the Farmers Market yesterday morning and there was a jazz band playing and when they started, she started bouncing up and down, so cute!
- She cut her bottom 2 teeth at 6.5 months and cut her top 2 at 8.5. However, when we went to her 9 mo WBV last week, we found out she actually has 4 on the top, we didn't even know (we don't stick our fingers in there anymore to check!ouch!)

9 month WBV Stats:
Weight: 17lb 3oz (25%)
Length: 27" (30%)
Head: 45 (75%)

Off to catch up with everyone!

hmbay - woo hoo for the sleeping....Go Alex. And standing and crawling..wow - no wonder he slept so good!! He was probably saving up.

Alison - great news about the signing.

We've been busy - was at MIL all day..boo hoo. randysmandy - major props - I have no idea how you live with yours.

Ashley has a new talent - biting. Does anyone else have a biter? This has me very upset...she thinks it is funny - she bit me twice yesterday and it really hurt...she went in twice today for my arm and I stopped her and said "no"..she seemed to understand. I will feel horrible if she bites a teacher or another child. I am going to warn the teacher tomorrow.

QOTD - how many are taking their babies out for fireworks? we are going to try and already I am stressed because she has never been out that late.

In other news - I spent a fortune at the Gap...they were having a fabulous sale!

Courtney when she's teething will bite down on my chin. I think at this young of an age they're likely doing it to relieve the pain in their mouths, rather than doing something naughty.

Fireworks-no for us. We are going to my sisters tomorrow and doing some kiddie fireworks (sparklers, snakes, etc). Hi Everyone! We have been on vacation and then so busy with the house that tonight was the first time I have checked CC in almost 2 weeks! Can't believe I went that long without you ladies.

We went up to Tahoe for our vacation and Aimee was fantastic. Everyone just keeps telling us how lucky we are and what a terrific baby she is. She was happy almost the whole time and even cut a tooth while we were there. If you remember, I was really concerned because she had two upper teeth come in that were very far apart. Turns out they were not her front teeth and one of those popped through. Now my little girl has 5 teeth! On vacation she went rafting down the Truckee River and sat on a Pony!

The house is moving along. We sold our house while we were on vacation (that was really stressful). We moved up the close date on the property in Auburn and will be moving the last weekend in July. That is only 3 weeks away......

Several people lately have said Aimee looks like "Boo" from Monster's Inc. I'll have to take a pic of her with her ponytails and show you guys. She really does look like a blue-eyed boo.

Can't believe all of the babies walking. Aimee tries to pull herself up but doesn't make it all the way. We'll get there eventually.

Cr8nme - how did the move go?

Randysmandy - Was the offer on the house accepted?

Hmbay - Yeah for no more helmet. I think my ped made a mistake (and me too) for not pursuing the helmet for Aimee. She still has a flat head and will hold it against me for the rest of her life!

Sorry for missing anyone else. Way too much going on these days......

Well Alex still has a flat spot as well even with the helmet but it's much better than it was but I'm also fairly sure he will always have some sort of a flat spot there. My orthotist says kids heads continue to grow and push out until they are around 3 only more slowly after around 9 months so it's possible Aimee's head will round out more on it's own yet over the next two years although I doubt it will be perfect. Then again no one's head is perfectly round as both my best friend who is a hairdresser and my orthotist (who is also an NBA fan--her favorite thing is to point you towards NBA players who really should have never shaved their heads) can attest to. :)

Kay - It is definetely not too late to start signing - I swear that Caitlin really just started to get it in the last week or two.

fireworks - No way, it doesn't get dark here until at least 9 and Caitlin is in bed by 7. I just hope that they both sleep thru the noise - I will be turning their fans on high!

biting - Yes - she especially likes to go for our noses! Sometimes she bites me and I know that she is looking for a reaction, but other times it does seem like she is doing it because her mouth hurts. I have also been bitten twice while nursing and man does that smart!

A few pictures from the weekend:)

biting--oh man I got bit probably 15 times nursing this weekend. He does it and grins. No teeth yet but two are almost through. Once those are through if he continues to bite we might be done BFing. I'll pump and bottle for the last two months if I have to.

Hi everyone! Happy almost-Fourth of July!

We are having a good weekend... we took Lily to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk on Saturday and pushed her around in the stroller. It was so crowded, but she seemed like she really like looking at all the action. We also took her on a couple of baby rides & let her ride the carousel on her own horse! (With daddy standing next to her, making sure she didn't fall off of course!). She really liked it, & was cracking up!

QOTD - I don't think we are going to see fireworks, but more b/c I need to be home with the dogs (they really freak out) than b/c of Lily... she might like them! They are set off pretty late though...

Alison - dang that Caitlin is cute! I love the picture on her bike, she looks like such a big girl!

cr8mne - congratulations on the move! That was a LONG time w/o DH :( I'm happy that your family is back together again! How is Noelle doing w/ the move?

Brink - welcome back from vacation! We *almost* went to the Sierra foothills this weekend, but then DH had to work. Sounds like you guys had a blast!

biting - L has only done this a couple of times & only once when bfing... she only has bottom teeth right now, but I am dreading when her top chompers come in!

cr8zy - hope Ashley handles the fireworks okay & sleeps for you!

Speaking of sleep, L has really regressed lately & we are going back through the long & agonizing process of getting her to fall asleep on her own in her own crib. It is hard, but I want her to be able to sleep on her own!

Hope everyone has a fun & safe holiday! Kisses to all of the babies!

Long time no post! Sorry I have been away for so long!

Ava has one tooth finally! She's bitten me a few times, but mostly in a "I am trying to teethe on your arm" kinda bite. She is pulling up on everything and has even taken a few unassisted steps. She's very mobile now, and it scares me to death ;)

We are still trying to sell our house. Its officially been on the market for a month today. We have had 4 couples see it, but no offers yet. *sigh* I hope it sells soon. We should be starting construction on our new house within 2 weeks! Very exciting!

fireworks - We are taking Ava. We are going to a place that is kind of back from the city though so I am hoping they won't be as loud there as they would be right downtown. If she gets too freaked, we will just put her in the car and turn on the radio and I am sure she would just sleep.

Happy 4th of July!!

sharecare - no naps - hi everyone, we just started sharecare where our nanny watches Kaito and a little girl who is just a few months older at our apartment and at the little girl's house. Problem: napping. How do you (those of you with twins), or how do your childcare providers get your little ones to nap when there are other children around?? Do they nap in separate rooms? The problem seems to be that one wakes the other up by crying or moving around when they are sleeping in the same room (one in a crib, one on a futon). I am going to ask the nanny to try having them sleep in separate rooms - one on a futon, one in a pack 'n play and we'll see how that goes, but Kaito is jujst miserable when I pick him up. It's 5:30 and he is down for a nap...... I don't know what that'll mean for his bedtime but he really needs to sleep.

Sorry no S/Os.... I am feeling so sorry for the little sleepy guy...

kay i can't really help you with the napping thing. my kids nap together and sleep through each others cries. i would def. try putting them in separate rooms if noise is a problem.

today's festivities we're going to the in-laws for a bbq and swimming with a bunch of friends (ours & ils) and family. should be nice. not sure yet about fireworks...

biting jake bites me and i have no idea how to get him to stop. it'll be a great day (along the lines of when they started to hold their bottles on their own) when they understand NO.

teeth zoe's getting her upper right tooth. she's been teething like a champ. no complaints.

new homes looks like a lot of you are moving (moved) and selling your houses. good luck. i can't imagine dealing with that with a 10mo old.

have fun today, ladies.

Happy 4th of July Everyone!

Hope everyone has a great day. We got back from our long road trip yesterday. Addy did great on the long drive! We are planning on taking it easy for most of the day. I am coming down with another cold so I don't feel like doing too much. We will go down to the park where they are having a huge celebration with tons of different food vendors and live music. We can see the huge fireworks display from our patio so that is where we will be tonight. We have to be home because of the dogs - they do not like them and don't do well if we are not home with them.

Cr8nme - Congrats on officially being a Texan now :)

Nikki - Hopefully your house will sell soon. How exciting that construction is about to get underway on your brand new home!

Brink - Congrats on getting your house sold. Things will slow down for you after the closings and you get all moved. Glad you guys had a good vacation too.

Kay - I know that the babies at Addy's school go through a transition period when they are new to get used to sleeping through other babies cries or movements. The teachers told us it usually takes a couple weeks for a new baby to get used to sleeping through the distractions. (All the babies nap in the "nap room" at school).

Biting - Addy doesn't really bite but she will gum you because of her teething. I have some great information on biting with the why's and possible solutions. If anyone would like a copy, PM me and I will email it to you. It was very helpful to us after Addy got bit at school. Right now, our babies are probably biting for comfort and expirimentation.

Addy had a wonderful time meeting all the people at the wedding. She is such a socail little girl - she smiled and waved hi to everyone that acknowledged her. She wouldn't go to anyone else besides DH or I except on friend of ours. For some reason, Addy REALLY liked her and had a great time playing with her. It was a flat out NO to anyone else including DH's parents. So much for being able to have some fun at the wedding ;) (i.e. drinking wine!). All in all, it was a great weekend despite the long drive.

QOTD - Is anyone else dealing with a baby who thinks it is great fun to pull hair? Addy loves to pull my hair and usually I tell her "gente" and otherwise ignore it but this past week, I have started telling her gentle then putting her down and giving her something else to play with when she starts up. Any other ideas?

Here are a couple of Addy's 9 months pictures: (these are scans so they are not as clear and crisp like the originals)

fireworks So I thought I'd stay back at my brother's with Kaito sleeping in his pack 'n play while others went to see fireworks at 9:30, but Kaito was wired and didn't want to go to sleep. So we took him to see his first fireworks! He surprisingly didn't mind the noise even though we were very close to where they were launching the fireworks. He just had his mouth wide open, staring at the sky, occasionally flinching when he heard the fireworks being launched. Then he cried a ton on the way home and had a crappy night of sleep. :p

napping - okay, I guess it just takes time. One problem is that he only does share care twice a week (Monday and Friday) so there's not much continuity and getting used to it.... We'll try the separate rooms thing. Thanks for the advice and more welcome!
hair pulling - yup. Kaito loves to yank on my hair, especially when we are co-sleeping early in the morning. I just try to move my hair away from him...

jo - love that last pic especially!

fire works - Ashley didn't make it - she had a melt down around 8 so we just went home. Of course she was up all night after that. She is no longer sleeping - reverting back to up every few hours and wanting to play at 3AM. She has two bottom teeth coming in (for a total of 8 teeth) so I think that has a lot to do with it. Of course, DH told MIL we were having sleep issues again and she called me last night and talked for an hour about all the things that I am doing that could be causing her not to sleep. MIL is convinced I am putting her to bed way too early (she gets very annoyed that I make us leave if we are out no later than 5-6 so as not to mess with our nigh time routine)...she says that I am being silly and I need to relax. B*tch.

Kay - sorry napping is such an issue. I would also try separate rooms.

Jo - Addy is so beautiful. I love the first one - her smile is priceless - she looks like such a happy baby. Did you have a professional photographer do those - they are really good!

hair pulling - not really - biting is our big issue - thank god I am the only person she has bitten so far - nothing has happened at school yet.

Nikki - OMG - your aviator is so funny. Good luck with selling the house - I am sure you guys will get an offer soon! How exciting - so many of us are selling/buying homes.

It looks like a lot of our babies are regressing as far as sleep goes - so glad to know I am not alone...we are having a tough time of things right now. And Ashley is so headstrong and determined and extremely independent which is good, but so frustrating. Last night she got mad and threw a huge fit because she couldn't figure out how to open a little door on her play table - I tried showing her and she pushed my hand away and screamed. DH and I are convinced she is going to give us a run for our money :).

Hope you all had a great 4th!! Today, Ashley is 10 months old...this is a very sad time for me. I am so looking forward to her first birthday party, but the thought of her turning one makes me cry. Where did our first year go?

Well misery does love company! I'm so glad to see some of you have crappy sleepers too! HA!

We had quite an adventure this week. Henry woke up from his nap and took off his diaper and smeared poop everywhere. It was a mess! and so yucky. Here I was thinking that he was playing quietly while I was finishing folding the clothes. There will be no more sleeping in a t-shirt and diaper at our house!

The 4th was laid back for us. We cooked out w my sister and bil and then watched the fireworks from our upstairs porch.

We've been going to the pool in the afternoons which is nice. He is having so much fun splashing around there. I'm just glad to get out of the house without shopping! LOL
Henry has been pushing his walking toy around (and a cardboard box and his leapfrog table). Then he will let go and do that fast excited breathing. So cute!! No unassisted steps yet.

I am so jealous that Caitlin is signing. We have only been doing "more", and "water" with Henry. Last night and this morning he might have been doing "more" but he might have just been clapping ;) Hard to tell.

I really don't think Henry understands much of what I am saying. We were playing with a friend yesterday (H's birthday twin co-incidently) and she seemed so aware of what her mom was saying. It was my first real twinge of comparing skills. I felt like crap (for comparing in the first place and because she seemed more advanced).

He is getting more into books lately which is so fun. I thought he would never sit still enough. His favorite is "baby faces" and one that just has pictures labeling the objects. Do your kids have any favorites?

cute pics of Addy and Caitlin. Love the new avatars nikki and kim

crappy sleep here too!

Caitlin was up on and off last night from 2-4:45am. I went in to nurse her around 3 and she bit me and started crying. I put her back to bed and heard her whimpering for about 15 minutes. Then she started crying so I went in and gave her some teething tablets and she did nurse and fall back asleep. She definetely does not want to play like some of your babies, she wants to sleep. Also I think that sometimes she stands up (and throws all of her pacis out:)) then gets stuck - she can sit down, I have seen her do it, but maybe she is too tired or something. I am so afraid because DH is going to be gone for a week later this month - he is so good about going in the first time she wakes up to soothe her whereas when I go in, she wants to nurse and I don't want to be nursing her all night.

Beachbum - When I finally realized that Aidan was signing back to me, I also realized that he had modified the sign a bit so maybe H is signing 'more', he just made up his own! Yuck-oh about the poop!

jo- Those are great pics - she is so expressive!

cr8zy - DO NOT listen to your MIL - you know what is best for A and you are the one that has to deal with an overtired baby if you don't get her home in time for bed.

Yesterday we all went to a puppet show at the library. I was armed with toys and snacks for C, but she ended up watching the whole show (40 minutes!) I was shocked but it really kept her attention. She also loves to be read to and can sit for 4-5 minutes and listen.

We had another successful lunch yesterday that I thought that I would pass on. I made the Annie's mac and cheese but for C I used a bit of plain yogurt instead of milk and then added some peas - she loved it! I know that eventhough it is organic that it still has some sodium, but it might be good for those of you that need something different once in a while!

Happy Thursday!

It's hard to not compare. I feel like crap a lot even in this thread...my kid is one of the oldest in this thread, but she's not doing even close to the things that many of your babies are doing (clapping, walking holding onto something, so many more, and I'm seriously jealous that Caitlin is signing back too!). Suck.

Hello ladies-Happy belated fourth of July. No fireworks for us. We decided to wait til next year since H goes to bed at 7.
Well the wedding was nice and being away for a couple nights wasn't as bad as I thought. I missed H terribly, but DH and I got to reconnect and we are finding ourselves more in love again. I felt really great in my dress and the hairdresser did a good job with my hair. H behaved for his grandmother and had a good time playing all weekend. Our offer was accepted and our home inspection is Saturday-woo hoo! My cousin had his baby (well his g/f did) yesterdayand he is so little. I CANNOT believe it's almost been a year. Can you believe we have been chatting for almost 2 years!?
Sleeping
Bedtime has gone good for us, but nap time doesn't go good for my MIL. I told her to stop rocking him and she doesn't. Now he expects it from her and screams bloody murder if she doesn't rock him. Serves her right for not listening to me. She has already annoyed me this week and she has only watched him for 2 days! H is sleeping through the night most nights.
Signing I wish H would do this, but he just yells or grunts. I don't give him what he needs for a few minutes just to see what he does. He stares at me signing and yells some more-LOL.
Jo Addy looks adorable and I love the photographer's touch.
Nikki LOVE the avator!

baby comparisons--no advice but i can say after it's your first one I think you just don't compare as much anymore. I know Alex is ahead of some babies and behind others. With Colin I worried. With Alex other than being a bit surprised at how different two babies can be I really haven't been bothered at all if someone else's baby is doing this or that (well other than being a good sleeper--THAT bothers me that Alex won't let mommy sleep good ona regular basis). :)

So it's okay to be a bit jealous or feel bad but you really have no reason to be and just try to enjoy your little ones exactly how they are because the next one (if there is a next one) will be the same in some ways and completely different in others and they're special and perfect no matter what.

crappy sleeping - count me in, too. Kaito's inconsistent. On good nights he sleeps from 8 until 4, then up at 6. But it really depends on the day. 4th of Julyh night he was up with me EVERY two hours.

dbers - Ahhhh, Alex's haircut is adorable! It makes me want to get Lauren's cut now, but I just can't bring myself to do it!

baby comparisons - As a first time mom and the fact that I have 2 best friends with baby's the same age, I feel like I'm always comparing, but I think in a healthy way (oh - so I can expect Lauren to be doing that soon, cool!). Lauren is the youngest here, so it seems that all the sept babies do everything before Lauren, so I got over comparing here a long time ago;). That's really cool to know that babies are signing back!! We've been doing eat, all done, books, and more since about 2 months, so I can't wait for her to start doing them back! I'll definitely be on the lookout for modified signs!

randysmandy - Hunger's such an adorable little boy!! And look at you mama, you're tiny!

alisonco - Lauren's done this a few times lately. Since she started crawling and figured out how to sit up, she'll sit up in her sleep or something and then can't figure out how to lay back down and as soon as I go into her room and lay her down, she was instantly asleep. Also, at her 9mo WBV, her pediatrician said that around 9 months, they start waking up during the night crying. Something to do with the brain development and to let them sooth themselves back to sleep or at the most go in and rub their back. Maybe that's what's going on with Caitlin?

books - These are Lauren's favorite thing in the world. I've been reading to her everynight since I was pregnant. It's part of our bedtime routine...change to jammies, BF, then 3 books, then daddy comes in and puts her to bed. She can hardly finish eating bc she's so excited to sit up and read her books. She will honestly sit for as long as I'll keep reading. I think we've spent up to 30mins before reading books. Her new thing is to kiss some of the characters in the book. Her favorites are the Sandra Boynton ones, preferrably "Moo Baa La La La".

fireworks - None for Lauren. We thought about it, but she was ready for bed at 9 (her typical bedtime). So, we did some of our own fireworks before Lauren went to bed and she was smiling and giggling, so I think they were a hit! I can't wait to take her to the big show next year!

Here's a few recent pics of Lauren:

dbers - Did you cut it? Gosh it looks great and nice for the summer. I don't think that Caitlin will need a haircut until kindergarten:)

wildcat- Thank you! That makes sense - I didn't know that they start to wake at night crying around now. I wonder if it has to do with the sleep cycles - I always blame it on teeth! BTW - gorgeous pics!!!

randysmandy - So cute - I love the second one. You look great!

Michelle - Thanks!

baby comparisons - It is normal, but still hard sometimes. Even at 9.5 months I can see just how different 2 kids can be as Aidan and Caitlin are SO SO different.

Happy Friday. I am off to the movies tonight with friends - we are seeing The Devil Wears Prada. Tomorrow we are going to a farmers market that has music. I hope that you all have a great weekend!

wildcat - Lauren is adorable :) I wouldn't have cut Alex's hair - but her bangs were totally getting in her eyes, and I'm afraid to have barrettes in all the time because she pulls them out and tries to put them in her mouth

Alison - No way!! I never would have attempted at this age - she was such a squirmy wormy in the seat at the haircut place! Luckily they are trained professionals ;) There's a chain in NYC that specializes in kids haircuts - and of course, they charge and arm and a leg!!

Our babies are so cute, I can't get over it!

I love all the photos recently of Caitlin, Addison, Hunter, Alexandra, and Lauren!

Beautiful haircut on Alex! It is seriously the perfect cut. I love it!

Crowbaby is still part of the bald babies club.

crappy sleep: Usually crowbaby sleeps fine, except the continual wake up time of 530. However, after reading your posts (what a coincidence or it MUST be a developmental thing with all our babies)--crowbaby woke up 4 times last night! He went right back to sleep 3 times. The fourth (which was the earliest, at 9pm)--lasted 1 hour. He was crying hard, which is totally unusual, esp when he wakes (he never cries upon waking). Holding him and Tylenol did not work. Feeding helped, I think.

comparison I don't really worry about most milestones b/c I know so babies all develop in their own sweet time. However, what does bother me is that crowbaby has totally fallen off the growth curve (for height,) he's now around 25%. I think he is one of the shortest babies here!

I do worry about him growing up into a short guy. My bro is short, and he had a rough time in childhood, being teased and such. And now, even in adulthood, he really feels at a disadvantage in the girlfriend dept. My brother is such a great guy, and it makes me sad that height really plays a factor in our society. Research has shown that short guys in particular get paid less, hired less, etc--it can be harder for a short guy. Short girls (I'm 5-2) face less prejudice.

Update on crowbaby:
1. Nursing strike vs weaning. Last friday he surprisingly decided not to nurse at all and has been that way since then. He arches his back and starts crying. I think it is weaning. So I am pumping FT, and my supply is going down b/c I am tired.
2. Pulling up, crawling, no real interest in walking.
3. Clapping hands, I love this. He claps when we sing. He also likes to "sing" with us. I think this is hysterical.
4. He understands the word "jump." NO other words. He understands the sign for Milk, but no signing back, but he'll say, Milk, in Chinese (which I initially doubted, but now I believe).
5. NO SIPPY CUP improvement at all. I have spent a small fortune on all sorts of cups. Though he will stick everything else in his mouth, he will NOT get his mouth NEAR a sippy cup. He will push them away. He will drink a little from a regular cup. But he hates water. He will only drink bathwater.
6. Lots of stranger anxiety, except for a few select peeps.
7. Some separation anxiety during the day if suddenly one of us goes away from his view. But he seems to *get* naptimes and bedtimes. We used to rock more, but found out that we can put him in there, give a pat, and walk away. He won't fuss then. He settles himself down (shakes his head on the sheet) and falls asleep. When he awakes, he talks to himself and sometimes plays with the aquarium thing, until we go in.

Have a nice weekend everyone.

We had an exciting morning: Addison took her first solo steps!! My brother was here with his little boy and she walked three solo steps to play with her cousin. We are so excited! She has been doing it off and on all day and looks at me like "what are you so excited about?!"

Dbersp - Alex is so beautiful - love the new hair cut!

Wildcat - Great pics of Lauren. She is such an expressive little girl :)

Beachbum - Yikes about the poop incident. I will have to keep that in mind - I tend to leave Addy running around in a tank and diaper when it is really hot.

Comparisons - We try not to compare either but it is hard sometimes. One of our friends has a 1 year old and they are constantly comparing her to Addy (Addy does a lot more then she does) and it actually makes us feel really uncomfortable. It is almost like they can't appreciate what their own baby is doing because they are so hung up on the fact that she isn't doing everything Addy is.

We are off to the park. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Hi everyone! Hope you had a great weekend! Ours is good... very quiet around here!

jo&sean - wow! Addy's taken her first steps! VERY impressive!

crow - how funny about the bathwater! Lily is the same way in the pool... sorry to hear that he is weaning... if he is truly weaning, will you cont. to pump until one year? I love nursing, but *hate* pumping!

wildcat - Lauren is so darling! I love that she is a good "reader." Lily just tries to rip the books out of my hand & I have to admit that I haven't been reading to her as much as I should. I am big-time reader & the most important thing to me is for L to love reading... did you have this problem? If so, what did you do?

Lily update:

We have three teeth! And I'm sure more on the way as she is a big-time drool factory lately. All of her teeth are on the bottom, which is weird :)

She is pushing her walker around all over the place (we have the LeapFrog Learning Band Walker) It's cute to watch her walk, but dang the music is annoying!

Cloth diapers - I think we are done. I'm glad we did it for as long as we did, but it is time to invest more $$ in bigger covers and I'm ready to stop. It is very expensive (we have a service) and I've been putting her in disposies more often now anyway. I'm somewhat conflicted, but I think it's time.

EllaRoo sling - is anyone using theirs with our bigger babies? I tried a friend's the other day in a "hip carry" and I really liked it! Let me know if you are still using yours & if you recommend investing in one at this point.

Sleep - L is going down for naps like a champ. We still have a lot of night waking, but I am thankful for small favors.

Take care! Have a great day!

Hey ladies! I've only got a sec, but I wanted to share...

Naomi said her first word on Friday!

We (she, my husband, and I) were in the car. She was looking at herself in the mirror we have in the back seat so that we can see her from the front. She started smiling and waving at herself, and out of no-where, we hear, "Bye-bye!"

Rich and I looked at each other thusly:  "Did she just say bye-bye???? No way...." She laughed and waved and said it again, clear as a bell! The rest of the afternoon she was saying it to people in the stores. It was amazing!

I'll be back with replies....

Andrea - LOL!!! Alex has been doing the same thing with "hello" - put them together and we've got a conversation :D

Alex's haircut is adorable. What a chic do! And my, what a lovely stoller...;)

beach - Yikes about the poop...it made me gag.

dbers- love the haircut! Alex's hair is so cute..I am so jealous. I can't even put a small clip in A's sparce head of hair.

wildcat - I love the picture of Lauren sleeping...and that dress..too cute! So great that she loves to have you read to her..I think that is great! Any tips - all Ash wants to do is rip them out of my hand and chew on them.

Alison - how was the movie? I want to see it..however, I want to read the book first.

crow - sorry about the nursing strike. Funny about the sippy cup - I have also spent a small fortune on sippies...and I stared out with the hard tip ones...which I have about 20 and she hates them. Sorry to hear you are also in the cr*ppy sleep club..it stinks.

jo&sean - WALKING..woo hoo!! That is so great.

pixi - good for you for sticking with cloth for so long. I think that is great. I don't have a sling but would like to get one - she has outgrown the Bjorn and I prefer to carry her in some situations.

Andrea - how cute. How is Naomi sleeping these days? We are still having cr*p sleep...totally annoying.

I think Ashley may have a dairy issue - it seems on the days when she has dairy (yesterday she had yogurt in the AM and a bit of ice cream at a party in the PM) she was up all night last night and seemed to be in pain. I am going to cut out the dairy and see if it helps. Question - If I cut out dairy, how do I make sure she gets some calcium?

We hired a sitter on Saturday night - DH brother had a party - so we took her until 6:30 and then I met the sitter at our house - she did great and it was nice to have a free evening. She slept all night on Saturday (no dairy that day - it was either that or the fact that I didn't put her to sleep) which was good - we had a busy day yesterday - her great grandmother's birthday party and she got to meet a ton of second cousins...my husbands cousin was in from Wisconsin and she has 8 kids and one on the way - can you imagine?

comparison - I try not to but I do...like now I am jealous of all the babies who have taken steps. But, each new thing is so exciting and every day she does at least one thing that blows my mind.

Her new thing - I always tickle her and say 'tickle tickly tickle" - so she now says 'tickle tickle tickle" ALL.THE.TIME..(her teacher even asked me about it on Friday) dand this morning, DH was laying in bed with her while I got dressed, and she put her hand under his arms and 'tickled' and said it...totally funny..and she thought it was hysterical!

Happy Monday to everyone!

Hey there ladies!!

Not much going on in our lives other than the usual craziness with house building, etc. Ava had a major meltdown yesterday that we are attributing to teething (she kept putting her hands in her mouth and she wasn't hungry, so I am assuming that was the problem. Poor thing!

Kim Thanks for the avatar compliments. Its an inside joke b/t me and tara :) (we were making fun of some rude people on CC and I said I should start a thread, "can i give my baby tequila" or something to that effect) lol
Wishing you much luck on Ashley's sleeping.

Randysmandy - Thanks!! and love the pics! You look great!!!

Michelle - I am such a slacker. Thanks for doing the updates!!

Dbers Alex's first haricut looks great!!

wildcat Awww look at Lauren. She is such a cutie!

Lisa hahahaha. Yeah, she really kind of does, huh?

Andrea Yay for her first word!!!

jo - Yeah for first steps! How exciting!

Andrea - Yeah for talking - that must have been so so cute!

pixie - I occasionally use my ring sling in a hip carry - is the ellaroo a ring?

crow - So sorry to hear about the nursing strike - hopefully it is because of teething.

cr8zy - The movie was cute with two hot guys:) I think that cutting out the dairy is a good idea just so that you can see if it helps- I believe that there are some veggies with calcium - maybe spinach?

nikki - Cute!!!

I have been reading, but I am have been a bit of a funk for a few days. AF came this morning so maybe that had something to do with it. DH is taking a huge exam today and has been studying for 3 months. He has been stressed and busy - plus he is going to be gone next week and it is really stressing me out. He has been gone for a few days before, but never a week! I just feel blah - no energy for myself or DH. I have been working out 3 days a week when the kids nap, but even that doesn't seem to help. I feel like it is taking longer this time to get our relationship back and it is creating a big wall. After Aidan was born it took awhile, but not this long. We are going out Friday night to celebrate him being done with the exams (he has another Friday) so maybe some alone time will help. Sorry to vent - just feeling, well blah:confused:

I hope that you all have a great Monday!!!

Alison Sorry you are feeling so crappy. Do you have a friend that would stay with you while DH is away? Even for a couple nights? I'm sure you will miss him, but at least you can have some one to help with the kids. I think you should rent a hotel room for hte night once his exmas are over and have a night alone-it does wonders.
Read?? What is that? I'm lucky if I flip threw a mag.

I'm having a crappy Monday as well....we withdrew our house offer cause the inspection went bad and the seller wouldn't budge with the price. Now we are onto possibly building a house (my design) Nikki-are you stressed over that?

JO YAY for walking!!! LOOK OUT-I seriously lost weight (thanks for all the compliments by the way) cause all I do is follow Hunter around!!!! Get a "dingo" fence-it helps out so much. You can block outlets and secure furniture, but I have floor lamps, and the tv-so I just put the fence around the livingroom and gated in one of the doors then I don't have to worry.

Andrea How cute! YAY for TALKING.

Hunter waves all the time now, but no words really. I guess I can't ask alot-walking and talking...Talking will have to wait.

Nikki Ava is a cutie-can Hunter have her number? LOL
All our babies are DOLLS:Sept (and Aug) must have been a good month :-)

DH and I went to see Dave Matthews Band Saturday night (w/ Sherly Crow)-they were AWESOME. The girl next to me threw up-what a way to start the evening off. ARG.

randysmandy - too funny! I could give you her number, but I would beware of her daddy. He has a strict no-dating-until-you-are-50 rule ;) And as far as the house is concerned, yeah, its pretty stressful, but I think in the end, its going to be so worth it. I just haven't found a house that has been lived in already that I would want to call *mine*. I dunno. I am spoiled I guess! :) :)

Life has been crazy lately. Between selling our house, buying the new one and work, I just don't have any time left in the day!

All of the pics are just too cute - Hunter, Alex, Lauren & Ava are just adorable.

Jo&sean - Yeah for Addy taking her first solo steps.

Pixiecat - I can't believe you made it this long with cloth diapers. Good for you, I can't imagine having to wash out some of those icky things!

Talking - I can't believe how many babies are talking. I have to keep reminding myself that Aimee is one of the youngest on this site, but even still - she's not that much younger! She still just babbles da-da but doesn't know what it means. Maybe we are bad parents are are not teaching her right?

Randysmandy - so sorry about the house. I know how stressfull it can be. We finally just took our new house "as is" because we want the house and didn't want to fight with the current owners anymore. But, we are probably only talking $15k worth of stuff. We built an addition on our current house and I know that was really stressful, but when you are done it is a huge accomplishment.

I just tried to load some pictures from Snapfish and the site is down. I'll try and remember to come back and post some later.

brink j & z are close to being the oldest babies in this thread and they are not saying anything either (with the possible exception of "CA!" for cat... not too sure). i wouldn't worry about it. i have a friend who has a 19mo old who hardly says anything at all. he signs some, but very little speech. like we always say around here: they will do things at their own pace.

all is well here. they are attempting solo standing and are doing pretty well so i guess walking will happen sooner rather than later. lots of climbing too. i removed some furnitrure from our living room because it was getting out of control.

off to the beach this weekend... not really looking forward to it though because it's a lot of work with 2 babies. but maybe i'll get a quiet day to myself if i bribe dh to take the babes for a day ;)

crow - you are so great to try a bunch of sippy cups. I just took the insert out of the first sippy cup I bought and I tilt the cup for him. Other than that Kaito just chews on the sippy cup handles and the sippy part because he's teething. I never really considered getting him another cup he could maneuver on his own!

And if crowbaby is at the 25% in height, he's not necessarily short. Also, I think babies have growth spurts so I wouldn't worry much. It makes me wonder.... are the percentiles based on American babies of all ethnicities??Or is it worldwide? it'd be interesting to research...

brink - Kaito was born on 9/23. He doesn't have a first word yet either. Lots of geh-geh, and goo goo ga ga....

alison - hang in there. And good for you for working out three times a week. I've completely fallen off the exercise routine. I'm using my cough as an excuse but I"ve got to get back. feel so flabby...

randy - good to know you lost weight chasing hunter around. Hopefully the same will happen for me when kaito starts walking??

alison - sorry you are feeling cr*ppy...

randysmandy - so sorry about the house..that really stinks. However, building a house that you designed sounds fantastic. we had a house built and it was extremely stressful, but worth it in the end.

Charm - have fun at the beach. I am jealous..I want to go to the beach.

I am also in a funk..Ashley is sleeping horrible again and I have no idea why..no dairy yesterday but that didn't keep her from getting up 7 times between 10-1 and then getting up for the day at 4am...she is wearing me down..10 months of not sleeping and I am really starting to get p*ssed. We had a few good weeks and now I feel we've regressed back to the worst times...and I just don't know what to do anymore. It is making me hate my house, my husband, my job...everything is just miserable right now.

You know I'm there with you Kim :((( I'm going to look some stuff up for us today and I'll post in my LJ.

Courtney has been saying a few words the real explosion came this weekend...her first word was Woah. This past weekend she said bubble, and yesterday she looked up at me and said Mama for the first time :)

Of course, she probably was doing that because she knows how badly I've wanted her to say it, and also she knows she was a complete hellcat the night before.

mandy, kay and cr8zy - Thank you all. Sometimes there are just things that I feel weird sharing with my mom friends IRL. I am feeling a bit better today. Dh passed the big exam yesterday and we got take out and had a glass of wine after the kids went to bed - plus Caitlin slept straight until 5am so maybe I just needed a bit of extra sleep (when do we NOT need that!)

Brink - Congrats!!! How exciting :)

Alison - Glad that you are feeling better and that your DH got the test out of the way and that he passed.

Randysmandy - Sorry about the house deal falling through. Building one that you designed sounds so much better :) Thanks for the info on the dingo fence - I could use one!

Kim - Sleep baby sleep!!

Solongtogo - How cute it must be to hear Courtney say "bubble"! But "mama" is aboslutley THE best huh? ;)

Addy is definitely walking - but the max is about 10 steps before she sits down. She is very confident but cautious - not a wild child by any means. Her vocabulary is also expanding. Tonight she was jabbering to one of the dogs for quite some time - full sounding sentences complete with voice inflections but the only words we could make out was "dog" and "bottle". So I guess she was trying to talk the dog into making her a bottle? :p

Is anyone else planning activities to do with their babies during the day? Now that I am home more, I want to make sure she is getting the stimulation she needs. I have a pretty good list going but am looking for more ideas. I keep forgetting to ask her teacher where she finds the ideas for class....

pixi - so glad I am not the only one who feels a bit jealous (I was too chicken to admit it). I want another one :(.

Jo - Go Addy!! Woo Hoo - 10 steps - that is a lot. So cute that she was talking to the dog!!

Alison - that is what we are here for. I also really don't talk much about my emotions to my family or friends IRL due to feeling weird about it. Glad that DH passed the exam and glad that you got some extra sleep.

solong - how was Court last night? I thought of you when my little he11cat (I love that term, btw) woke up at 11:30 and refused to go back down.

I think the reason Ashley is sleeping cr*ppy is due to the fact that she has a raging diaper rash (her first..which I feel awful about). I ended up having to pick her up from daycare early (they called me to tell me she was miserable...which I felt horrible about..why wasn't I more proactive about this???) and took her to the doctor - it is yeast so they gave me a prescription cream...it looks 100% better already. And all the teachers this morning said things like "yeah, it didn't look like just a diaper rash"..I feel awful that it took a call from a teacher to get me to do something - they must think I am a horrible mother.

solongtogo
07-12-2006, 08:48 AM
Kim-don't beat yourself up, you didn't know that it wasn't a diaper rash.

Last night was no better. And DH and I got into a big blow out that resulted in him sleeping on the couch. Life is not good in our household, but for whatever twisted reason, I take comfort knowing that you and Andrea are going through the same. It sure is difficult to get and find help for our situations though :(

Hahaha, once Court stops this damn night phase she's going through I'll probably be jealous of you too Brink. But definitely not right now :D
