Please update my age to 25 and DH's to 24.

Thanks for the new thread!

T minus 6 weeks until EDD for our little girl. We found out that I have polyhydramnios (excess amniotic fluid) and the baby's stomach is dilated. We're going to a perinatologist for a Level II U/S on Wednesday. There is a chance she has a condition called duodenal atresia which would require surgery within a day or 2 after birth. We'd appreciate any thoughts and prayers if you're so inclinded.

Thanks!

And, to say *so jealous* to Titia for having a fully trained young man. Ugh, we're better but no where near there yet. Question, are you still using diapers overnight?

Where are all the soon to be two year olds sleeping?

We co-slept from newborn on, and in February, we got a toddler bed. We dropped our mattresses to the floor and put the toddler bed right next to our bed. He probably starts in the toddler bed 25% of the time, but he's only ever stayed in it all night (6-7 hrs) once. I'm fine with that. He wakes up and says "Mommy" and then I bring him into bed with us. Sometimes, he has wanted to go to sleep in his bed... I give him a choice every night. I'm sure that he'll eventually want to sleep there more than in ours.

I can't believe we are entering the terrible two's already. Although I feel like I've been there for 5 mos already. My DS just left the terrible two's and now I have another one entering, my timing was way off on that one. And I still have another one to go through it after DD. I'll be a pro by that time. :D

Sleeping Kaitlyn has been sleeping in her toddler bed since about 17 mos. She started crawling out of her crib really early so we thought it would be safer to take the railing down. We do struggle with her every night and she is getting better. We have to sit in her room until she falls asleep otherwise she gets out of bed immediately and goes into her brothers room. She's finally starting to fall asleep more quickly now but she has been getting up during the night. We usually put her back in her bed but sometimes we are so tired and don't want to fight with her that we just let her lay with us but then she rarely goes back to sleep. Last night she actually stayed in her bed all night and I didn't realize it until I got up and she was still sleeping. Yay!

We moved Olivia to her big girl's bed (a twin) in early February since her sister Lily (now 3 months old already!) needed her crib sooner rather than later. It took about a month to work out the kinks but she's doing great sleeping in the bed now. Doesn't get out at night (since we took away her steps up to the bed - she thinks she's trapped there) and goes down fairly easy. The biggest help was having a video monitor so we could see if she was climbing out of the bed - we'd then say through the closed door "Olivia, get back in bed". So I think she thinks we sit outside her door all night long! Once she realized we could see her getting out of bed - she decided it was better to stay put. We also had a Big Sister book that talked about sleeping in a big girl's bed and that made her really excited about not being a baby anymore. I love having two so close in age and can't wait for them to be able to "play" together more...Olivia keeps handing Lily toys wanting to share with her - and her food too. It's so cute. Two is definitely a handful but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Sleeping? Gina co-slept with at first, then we moved her to the crib. At 20 months we moved her to a twin bed since Emalee needed the crib. She loves it and sleeps in it all nite.

smanley: When was Lily born so I can add her to the first page?

My u/s today unfortunately didn't yield very good results. They did confirm that she has a stomach problem and also a heart defect. The good news is both are fixable with surgery. The bad is that the chance of Downs Syndrome has also increased. FTR, we didn't do any screening early in the pregnancy.

The stomach problem needs to be resolved surgically within 24-48 hours of birth which means I will need to deliver at the hospital I saw the peri at today (4 hours from here). The heart surgery would take place around 3-6 months of age but is considered a mid-range heart problem and she shouldn't have any long lasting effects.

We're a little overwhelmed right now and just hoping and praying that things will be okay.

Thanks for all your continued support and prayers.

Lily Genevieve was born on January 18, 2006. Thanks!

Anyone else's toddler taken to screaming to get your attention or when they get frustrated? Olivia does it a lot too when I am trying to BF Lily and she would prefer that I play with her. Any suggestions on how to reduce the amount of hollering? thanks!

Anyone else's toddler taken to screaming to get your attention or when they get frustrated?

YES,YES! Well Kaitlyn will just scream at the top of her lungs when she's mad. If we scold her for something she will stick out her bottom lip and then scream. I can't stand it. Still don't know how to correct this either.

Screaming One thing we do with Blake is we always tell him when he screams, "Use your words."

Baby's Name: Elliott
Date of birth: May 21, 2004
Time of birth: 8:30 am (scheduled c-section after my developing pre-eclampsia)
Weight and Length: 3lbs, 10 oz (not sure of length, they never told us! :( )
Other children: Not yet!

Kaeden's mommy - I'm sorry to hear your going through this. I hope you and your family have support around you.

screaming - Elliott's never really been a screamer, but he does have moments where he gets frustrated and will do that eh-eh-eh noise. Right now, I basically ignore it. I use to say "use your words," and I sometimes still do, but I really don't like to give it any attention at all at this point. I used to say, I understand you're frustrated, but I can't understand you when you whine/grunt/scream/etc., and I'd recommend that as a starting point, but right now it's best not to give it any attention at all.

Kaeden's mommy so sorry to hear your news, you and your family are in my prayers. Though you will have a tough road ahead of you I'm glad to hear things will likely be OK.

Sleeping Tyler is still sleeping in his crib since there is no need to move him at this time, he sleeps so well that we hesitate to change anything. I figure we will move him closer to 2 1/2 or 3 depending on when I get pregnant(yes we are still trying).

Screaming Tyler is a screamer, big time. We are also at a loss as to proper methods of correction...we have been trying to just ignore it but he doesn't seem to be getting bored with it and the screams get very irritating! I've also tried directing his attention and telling him that we don't scream because it hurts Mommy's ears but that doesn't seem to phase him.

Titia congrats on Holden's potty success, that's amazing as he is soo young! Tyler still thinks the potty is a toy.

OctoberPrincess, do you mind sharing how long it took you to get pregnant with Tyler and how long you've been trying now. We're looking to try in Octoberish and I'm so worried we won't get pregnant for a long time or that we'll encounter secondary infertility... We were fortunate with Blake and it only took 2 months.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I have a perinatologist appointment on Monday. Hopefully we will set an induction date then (I'll be 36w2d Monday). I'd like to have some kind of plan as to when we'll deliver since we need to have surgeons on staff and there is a holiday coming up in a few weeks.

Nicole ~ I'll add my 2 cents about TTC as well (hope you don't mind). Kaeden was a surprise but I got pg with him our 2nd month of not really TTA. This time it took 5 months but I had very irregular cycles and we weren't even sure I was Oing.

When was Elliott due? I forget.

Me too! :p July 3rd. Today I started thinking about his birthdate, and how he had to be delivered early by c-section, and I started to feel sad that he didn't have a "natural" birthdate, for lack of a better term. What's up with that? I have no idea where that feeling came from. I wonder if his upcoming birthday brought up those guilty/angry c-section feelings? If so, duuuuuude, does that mommy guilt ever go away?

Kaeden's Mommy - Elliott was born at 33 weeks. Despite my angst about the whole thing, doctors are amazing these days.

More Friday night rambling... So I took my first trip out of town, and without Elliott. He did just fine while I was away, but when I came back he really gave me a tough time for a day or so. Apparently that's their way of testing you -- what if I'm really, really bad, will you still stay?

Let me tell you, he was actually trying to stick his finger in electric outlets!!! He has NEVER done that in his life. It was insane.

What else? Anyone have any good birthday gift ideas for our 2s?

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

My cousin that will be 2 next month is apparently unbuckling his car seat while the car is moving... I guess he'll actually unbuckle it and then try to slide out and he gets stuck midway and gasps for air. How scary! I guess my aunt is constantly having to pull over to re-buckle him.

We haven't started that yet and I hope we don't!!

NicoleWisconsin, we got pregnant with Tyler after 4 months of ttc...we charted for the last 2 of those 4 months. This time I began trying in September and we still haven't had any luck, it feels like it's taking forever (we did try to avoid having #2 be a December baby though). My sister took much longer than she anticipated ttc #2 so it's hard not to worry that I may have the same problem but I try to remember that there are many woman who have been ttc much longer than I have. I really wanted #2 to be 18-24months younger than Tyler but that's not going to happen so I will settle for them being 3 years apart.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day!

Once again, it's been way too long since I've checked in. I saw the new thread and thought, 4 pages... I can get through that! (I always felt like I could never catch up on the previous thread).

Gabby is doing great. She started daycare a couple weeks ago. Before then, I had a nanny, but with DH and I both working from home, it became too hard to work because Gabby was constantly yelling for mommy and daddy. Daycare is working out great so far. Our neighbor's little boy is in there and Gabby plays with him regularly, so it's nice to know she's there with a friend :) Gabby got her first real modeling gig in November and I just saw it online last month and it was so exciting to see it:

http://www.zara.com

Click on Catalog > Kids (or Ninos). Hover your mouse over the right side of the photo and you'll get an arrow. Gabby is on page 2 and 3. DH actually took her the day she did this shoot so I had never even seen her in these outfits, so it was a total surprise to me.

Here's a few recent pics:

Life is good. We've got a lot of big things happening in the next couple months that I'll be back to update on, one of which is the big move to another state! I've been in CA my whole life, so it will be an adjustment, but I think a good one long-term.

Kaeden's Mommy - I'm so sorry to hear about your little girl. Thinking about you and sending good thoughts your way.

Hi girls. Only have a quick moment but wanted to announce the arrival of Josh's little brother Kyle Robert.
He was born May 8th at 3:07 am. Labor was longer this time around but I only pushed for 15 minutes-about 15 minutes less than with Josh.
He weighed 8lbs 10 ozs and was 20 1/2 inches.
So far things are going well but only b/c my mom is here and my dad comes in this evening. The real test will be next week when it's just me and the boys during the day.
We'll get through it.

Best wishes to you! I'll be thinking about you and patiently waiting for an update. I hope everything goes very smoothly. You'll be in our thoughts and prayers.

Not much new going on here. Just doing life with 2 kids. Kaylie's a pretty great sleeper and eater. In fact I think she may have been eating too much which was causing her to throw it all back up. It's either that or dairy which I've mostly been off of for the last few weeks. Guess I'll have to test it out by eating some ice cream.

Jack's doing great with his little sister. I'm just trying to figure out when I should transition him to a big boy bed. We're moving next month, so I will probably try to keep him in the crib until after the move so he doesn't totally freak out. Then maybe we'll move onto potty training later this summer (not holding my breath though). Hmm...wonder if I should wake him up...it's 8:15 and we've got a playgroup to go to this morning...no wonder I can't get anywhere until 11am. :)

Take care everyone!

Kaeden's mommy Wishing you so much luck on Friday. I hope your induction goes smoothly and that your baby girl arrives happy and healthy!!

Life is insane around here. after my sweet Dylan who never cried, miss katie is a slightly rude awakening! she is really gassy and hard to get down for naps and rarely smiles. It's so hard not to make comparisons when dylan was so easy at this age (9 weeks) and smiled all the time! I try to remember she was two weeks early though so she has catching up to do and will hopefully outgrown the gassyness soon. It helps that she keeps looking up at me with these big eyes and I just melt!

jki wow, Jackson is a big boy! Tyler is not even 23 lbs, some 12 month shorts won't even stay up on him! He and Cassidy are adorable!

Kaden'sMommy good luck, I look forward to hearing good things!

We got back from a wonderful trip to Disneyworld last week, we will definitely be returning in the near future. The night after we returned Tyler begain climbing out of him crib, we purchased a crib tent and after 2 semi-difficult nights he has accepted it but I'm now wondering when to make the transition... He's such a great sleeper in the crib and I know he will not be able to relax if he can get out of his bed since once he learned that he could climb out of the crib he continued doing so until we allowed him to stay out and fall asleep with us (we have NEVER done this besides when he was an infant). Has anyone trasitioned their child directly to a twin bed? How did that go? My crib does convert to a toddler bed but I'm considering leaving the crib up until December and purchasing a complete new big boy bedroom set with twin bed.

We are in the process of having our yard landscaped so it has been hectic between that, and preparing for all the parties we have through the month of July.

Sal ~ Poor Katie. Hope the Zantac helps.

Miss Mackenzie decided to make her arrival a day early. My water broke at 2:30am on the 1st and she was born at 6am. I'll post my birth story in my journal later - it was a crazy labor and delivery. She does have duodenal atresia and an AV canal (heart defect) as suspected. She had surgery for the atresia today and it went very well. Hopefully she'll be home in a couple weeks. She's in the NICU but doing very well all around. The heart condition isn't as severe as we expected and she may not need surgery - we'll see as she grows. Please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Sal Adrieanna has reflux as well, although we're on Axid for it, not Zantac. I never suspected she had issues except for the fact that she didn't gain weight at the beginning. After watching a feeding, my ped's nurse diagnosed it at about 10 days. She's gained weight wonderfully since then and is a nursing fiend. The medicine has made a huge difference.

Lisarenee I can't say I notice much of difference in financials with the second one. Although we always planned on more, she came a little earlier than we thought. Since she's BFed, buying formula is not an issue. She has a girl cousin who is almost a year older than her, so 95% of her clothes are borrowed. Diapers are really the only big additional expense, but we're also fortunate there. She's one of those mythical BFed babies who only poops 2-3x a week, so we don't have to change diapers as often since they're just wet. So far, so good :)

luckiet ~ It would be wonderful of you to have your friends/family pray for us. Mackenzie is facing a lot so far in her short life. We also just found out that she has Down Syndrome so it's been a tough week. We'll take all the prayers we can get.

Hello all

I cannot believe Lewis will be 2 tomorrow. It really has gone by in a blink.

I have started working a couple nights a week at a restuarant. It really helps me seeing new and different people <I am a really social person> and has given my hubby more one on one time time with Lewis. There have been good and bad but its getting better every time.

I hope everyone is good. We love seeing all the new babies!

Happy 2 All!!

Happy Birthday to all the summer 04 babies!! Thanks for posting them all Mrs. Barkley!!

Luckiest glad it was so much fun! I am sure all the kids are crashing now!

Cohl she is so funny in that hat! what a ham!

Bernie he looks like he is ready for school! so cute!

Dylan is finally using so many words. It is the best! He loves giving hugs and kisses too. He is so sweet. Too sweet sometimes I think because rougher toddlers take advantage and take his toys and make him cry :( it breaks my heart and makes me so worried for preschool! I hired a mother's helper twice a week for the summer so that gives me relief with the two kids. DD is a GREAT sleeper though, has been sleeping through for several weeks now so that is amazing.
Hope everyone had a great 4th! Dylan had gotten a playhouse for his birthday and we set it up that day finally and he was in heaven!

Hi ladies!

It's been a while since I've been here to check in.....the photos showing all of our kids looking more like kids and less like babies are incredible and very cute!

Nothing is really new with us......I'm taking a 5 week summer class so that is keeping me plenty busy. Alexander is doing well - still working on potty training, using an incredible amount of words and sentences, showing us that he has a great sense of humor, and growing, growing, growing! And, Del and I have been doing a lot of home improvements.

Here are some recent photos:

Luckiest you always get such great group shots. they are so good that they humor you for pictures!

jki wow - you are the coolest mom ever. that truck looks like so much fun!

lildan alexander is turning into quite the little man! was he always so blond? he looks so cute!

celia I am glad to see Milo is keeping his sweet cheeks. They always looked so kissable to me. He is so adorable!

Things are busy here but fun. Dylan does not have much interest in his little sister. Maybe once a week he will give her a kiss. Are any of your toddlers REALLY picky eaters? Dylan will hand me back food most of the time and say DONE and the only sure things are grilled cheese, mac and cheese, pizza and tortellini. NO vegetables. loves fruit and sometimes will have meatballs. I feel like he eats the same few things all week!

Jen1098
07-20-2006, 07:13 AM
Sal Josh doesn't eat veggies at all either. I try and sneak it in and you should see his face when he realizes it. Does Dylan eat spaghetti? I hide spinach in there and he got in a few bites. I also make chicken pot pie and he's gotten a few veggies that way but other than that he'll go days and days w/o veggies.

luckiestgirl Leah looks so big now-no more baby.:) She's so cute. Those are great pictures.

LildanGreat family pictures. I think Alexander looks alot like you.

Celia Cute pictures of Milo.

jki So will you be taking Jackson to a monster truck show.:D Great pics.

Not much new here. We're off to Florida this pm. Hopefully the weather doesn't delay it to much. We'll be having Josh's b-day party at my mom's house. Should be fun.
Josh is doing great. Finally much more gentle with his brother. Always wants to kiss him. Unfortuntely it's usually while Kyle is sleeping.
We have been having temper tantrums the last few days when he doesn't get what he wants-like a fudgescicle at 9am.

for those of you who've had #2 did you feel like dc#1 regressed at all before the baby was born? my neighbor (who's a pediatrician) said to expect dd to regress a couple of months before the baby is born and a couple of months after, they're also expecting #2 around the same time as us. i guess i'm kind of in denial that noa really knows a baby is coming, i mean she points to my tummy and says "where's jack?", but i don't really think she gets it. the reason i'm asking is because noa is just acting crazy lately and i'm wondering if that's why -- she absolutely won't go anywhere near her crib, she wants her binkies *all* the time now and she's just misbehaving in order to get attention, she's being aggressive w/ other kids and she's always been so gentle :( did this happen with you guys as well?
another thing i need advice on -- there's a montessori program around the corner from my house that would be perfect for noa. the plan was to hire someone for help a couple of days a week, but this program would be for 3 hrs every day and cost the same amount. i wasn't planning on sending her anywhere, but this seems so perfect b/c i can walk there and not have to worry about getting us all dressed and ready, both kids in carseats, etc to get her there. plus her neighbor friend will be going as well and we can take turns grabbing the kids if need be. my issue is, it starts in sept (when #2 is due) and again in january. i think noa will feel pushed off if she starts when #2 arrives in sept -- would you send her in sept or wait until jan? i can always hire someone to help out until jan and that's also when her friend will start and will make the transition easier for her -- okay, the more i type this the more it makes sense to send her in january, but your opinion on the matter is greatly appreciated!

Sal03
07-25-2006, 03:48 PM
dana sorry for the late reply with this but I agree. I think the timing will be a little off to send her right as the baby comes. too many changes at once...especially since you SAH and that is all she knows. I have a friend due in sept and her son who has major sep anxiety is starting school then and I worry how he will do. hope you are feeling good!

Jen it is so wild seeing how big the summer babies are. he looks like such a BOY! is it me, or does he look a lot like you in the first one? his hair is so cute and blond now! are you liking your neighborhood?

Bernie & Matt

We have been having temper tantrums the last few days when he doesn't get what he wants-like a fudgescicle at 9am.

Glad to know I'm not the only mean mommy who won't let DC have popsicles for breakfast :D

dana I would wait as well. DD is going to want lots of reassurance when baby comes so sending her to preschool may rub her the wrong way. For us, DC #2's arrival prompted a little jealousy and some regression, but I would say it lasted only about a month or so. Now DS will ONLY give his baby sister hugs and kisses, not Mom or Dad. Don't know if it's the weather, age, or what, but I've seen a regression in gentle, sweet behavior that I'm used to as well.

Question For those of you who have successfully potty trained, I need some help! I thought I would tackle this before going back to school in a few weeks, but I'm not even sure that I should be or even where to start. I hate dumping this task on day care to do, but they may have to since the only other time I've got lots of time off is December, which may be too late. So, what are your experiences with this, including when you started, your technique, your success, your helpful tips and supplies, anything that you would do and not do over again, etc. I'd really appreciate it!

Celia

Sal....thanks for the comments on Milos pictures/cheeks. Milo is way more pickier than Dylan. I wish he ate what Dylan eats. Milo will only eat chicken and fruit. Thats it. He has been like this for a while. Everytime we offer him new things he wants nothing to do with them.

We are taking Milo to see the Wiggles on thursday so I will have to post some pics next weekend.

Hi everyone. I have been MIA for quite a while. I have been having bad headaches every day that have just started to get less severe in the last week or 2. I think we are closer to figuring out what's causing them and I sure hope so because I was pretty incapacitated for a while.

Other than that we are doing great. It is so much fun to have a 2 year old and watch them learn new things everyday and see how they marvel at what we think are simple little things. I love it.

----------------

Kelli -
I just sent you an email. More {{HUggSS}} coming your way.

Bernie -
when you started, your technique, your success, your helpful tips and supplies, anything that you would do and not do over again, etc. I'd really appreciate it!
We started when he was about 20 months, just by bringing a potty chair into the bathroom and encouraging him to sit on it when we went potty, talking about what we were doing. After a while we encouraged him to sit on it with his pants down. Then after he was comfortable with that, we'd tell him he could put his pee in there, just like we did in our big potty. By this point almost 2 months had passed and we started talking about underwear. We got some and he went in them and we didn't make a big deal but talked about how that didn't feel good and let's sit on the potty and see if we can put any in there. At this point he was still in diapers, we put the undies away for a few days. We'd have him sit on the potty at the same time every day, first once a day (right after wakeup) then twice (also before nap). We'd just be nonchalant about ti and say "no pee? Ok, we'll try later". After the first time he actually peed while sitting there, we made a huge deal and did the "potty dance" (I have since read that some kids don't react well to making a huge deal so you will have to judge on that), called Daddy at work, etc. Then I started taking him more often and soon he just started asking on his own to go. However, I thought I was going to go insane because he was asking about every 10 minutes, but it wasn't just novelty, he learned how to "push his pee out" even just a few drops. At that point we ditched the diapers completely as to not confuse him. I personally really think that is a big key. I think it is unfair to ask a child to try to remember when they can just let loose and when they have to try to remember to do this new thing they don't really understand by switching back and forth btwn dipes and undies. I say give it a good week of trying and if you don't see improvement then put the undies away for 3-4 wks and try again. I have heard it is not uncommon for kids to have 6-10 accidents a day in their first days so try not to get discouraged if it seems like a lot.

Success wise, Holden had about 4 accidents his first day and by the end of the week he was barely having any. Pooping came about 2 wks later (he's pretty regular so it was pretty easy for us).
Supplies - Nothing but a potty chair that we took him with us to pick out. And tying in with tips, I like the one we have (first years green and blue potty and step stool) because it has a great splash guard but I think if I had to do it again I'd get a simpler one bc this one is hard to clean and hard to keep clean.

Best of luck to you!

Kelli so happy to hear good news. hope it just keeps getting better

having a little problem that I don't know how to deal with. We get together every wednesday with one of my closest friends and her son who is 7 weeks older than Dylan. Now, I am not saying Dylan is the most well behaved kid ever because he is not. He has his share of fits and and will not sit still for a second - just runs runs runs. BUT he is the sweetest child I know and will sit and smile at any kid who takes a toy from him and is on the passive side. Well this boy we play with takes anything ANYTHING dylan plays with. Sometimes he just grabs it and throws it. Sometimes he grabs it and screams NO in Dylan's face. It depends on the day how Dylan reacts. He may cry hard or he may just give up and move on to something else. This boy also just randomly picks up objects constantly and throws them. He will also hit Dylan at least twice every playdate which of course makes me furious. It's not hard, but still it is hitting. I am getting to the point where I don't even want Dylan around this kid because he is such a bad influence. I don't want Dylan to start hitting and throwing things constantly, especially with a new DD in the house. But this is one of my best friends so what can I do? Oh she does discipline him but it does not work, he just laughs and she is not really consistent with consequences. And I love this kid, because I love my friend but it is getting harder to deal with. And my friend knows it is a problem but dows not know how to handle it. It upsets her too because in other playgroups the kids now avoid her son because he grabs toys and hits. ugh, guess i just needed to vent.

Sal - Jackson has a friend like that... only his friend is worse - he spits, holds sticks like swords, has an incredible vocabulary and says 'mean' things, etc. I've known his mom for over 10 years and she is one of my best friends.... When it really gets to me, I tend to take a break from them and make excuses as to why we can't get together or engage in playdates like the zoo or a children's museum where hitting and sharing aren't really part of the playdate. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. We saw them yesterday and finally my friend is at the point where she has HAD IT. She was really good about grabbing anything back that he took and handing it back to dylan. and when he would not stop at one point she gave him a time out that threw him into a fit. but pretty quickly he started up again so she just kept up with him taking everything back which made him have a MAJOR meltdown but it was nice to see her staying consistent. But Dylan handled it really well yesterday and just smiled and kept playing and did not cry and he did not get hit, only one little push so it was more successful than it has been.

I got the dreaded call this morning. My dad died.... I am so lost & hurt. I thought I was somewhat prepared but really, how can you be? He had dementia & ALS (Lou Gehrigs) disease. Luckily God took him before he suffered & he went to be with the Lord peacefully in his sleep. Now he can hold & cuddle my baby girl. She has been gone for 15 yrs & now he is going to get to see her! Still, no matter how comforting all that is, the grief still is raw & really sucks...

Kelli - My condolences to you and your family.

Tomorrow Jaiden turns 2!! I'm so excited and baffled by how quickly two years has passed. She is becoming such a big girl now! The tantrums are driving me nuts as are the constant NO's! We are making some progress with the tantrums in that they are over quickly now on most occasions. Not making much progress with the potty training. She was doing so well and now it's stopped. She just does not want to go. DH and I are not forcing her. I'm taking her with me when I go and she just sits on her potty and looks at me like can we leave the bathroom now please. She is such a ham also! Entertains us everyday. I love it! Her party is this Sunday and I have to get done with my shopping. Not much to buy except stickers and animal crackers for the goodies bags. And whatever snack food I'm serving. We are having the party at a local zoo and they take care of decorations. so thankfully I don't have to worry about that. Well I'm off!

Hey all! I can't believe it but K is 2!! Where did the time go?!

It's crazy but overnight he turned into a 2 year old. He started making crabby faces and saying "no." Little stinker!

The one surprise is that he isn't at all jealous of M who is now almost 3 months old. He adores her and loves to plaster her with kisses. He's a great big brother!

Hi ladies,

It's been ages since I've posted but I do stop by the thread and catch up on the latest news.

Well you can add me to the RO list ... We are expecting a baby girl mid February. Other then being completely exhausted chasing Dylan, I feel pretty good.

Question for you RO mommies, can you recommend a double jogger?

Thanks so much and hope you all are doing well.

Hi guys! I haven't been by in ages. Had a few minutes at work and quickly skimmed through checking out all the little ones who just aren't little anymore! Things are crazy as always in our house. Eli is in speech therapy and we are more than likely headed for a diagnosis of processing disorder. He's come so far since starting therapy in February, though.

He's a mess. He loves running and jumping. Elmo and Clifford rule. He hated his birthday party, but we have high hopes Christmas will be much smoother ;)

Here are a few pictures of Eli:

LuckiestI am so sorry about your dad, I lost my dad 10 years ago this past June and I know how hard it is. huge hugs to you in hopes they give you some kind of comfort.

It has been such a long time since I have been on here, but wanted to say that all your babies are beautiful!! I cannot believe how fast the time has gone and our little ones aren't so little anymore!

I hope to keep up with this thread a little better, but having a 2 year old and a 5 mos. old just keeps a momma busy! I just thank God that Madelyn learned to sleep throught the night at 10 weeks! Heck, it took her brother almost 2 years to figure that one out! and yes, Madelyn was STTN before her big brother on a regular basis. crazy kids!

Monique~Thanks!! :D

Dad & my grief....Things are getting better with time. I know I have a long road yet but God will help me through!

Leah got another tooth. She had a huge fever on Friday so I pretty much knew what that meant...a tooth is cutting through. So I looked in & sure enough, her back top molar is coming in! She has been a finicky eater lately resorting to soft foods so I knew it was coming...

Other then that...school starts tomorrow! I will be having 4 off to school & it will be me & Leah at home alone again so I can work with her again on letters, numbers, etc. I have been trying to teach her all summer but too many distractions with all the kids!

Well, hope everyone has a great Labor day!!! Take care!

Stars Congrats on your pregnancy and your GIRL!

Footy he is so cute. it still amazes me how big our kids are and a lot of us have two now. Dylan is also in speech therapy, since he was 18 months and he is doing great now

Dana congrats!!!!!!!!!!!! what a beautiful family. I love the little sign for Noa. And she is just too cute in that last pic

Dylan started preschool last week. He is doing GREAT. It is part of his early intervention program and I think he is going to do so well. It was a rough start, more for me, but today he practically skipped into class so that makes me SO happy. He is loving his baby sister now after ignoring her for a long time. Now he gets so excited to see her and loves to pat her face and give her kisses. it is the sweetest thing watching them interact.

Not much gonig on here right now. Trying to adjust with life without my dad. It just breaks my heart to know I won't see him again until I go to Heaven. But I knwo he is in a place so beautiful that no earthly words could discribe. AND he most likely ran to my baby girl & is holding her until I get there! Probably fighting my gma & gpa for her! LOL... just kiddin! I know there is no fighting in Heaven! It has been esp hard since my stepdad died in April 2005 then my dad this last Aug. 2 dads in 1 1/2 yrs.... NOT GOOD! & my mom is beside herself... she lost an ex husband that after the divorce they became very close & a DH .... she is not doing well right now....
Other then that, the kids are all back in school, Leah is upset because the other 4 get to go & she doesn't.... She gets bored with mom all day. She got her back molars..that was a pain! Other then that we haven't done a whole lot... Hope everyone else is doing good! :D

Hi everyone!
Just thought I'd pop in with an update.

Things are going great here, we've been enjoying the outdoors all summer and are sad to see (feel!) the cold weather coming in.

Holden is a regular source of amusement for us.
He picks up "adult" phrases (nothing bad, just things you don't hear kids say too much) and sometimes uses them properly but often uses them out of context, which just cracks us up. For example, the other day we were driving back from the lake and it got dark out. He said, "It's dark outside" and I said "Yes, it is" and he said "sometimes this happens". Hehehe.

Here are some pics from the last several months.

Leah absolutely loves baby dolls, but when she sees a "real" baby she goes crazy! She MUST hold them, MUST feed them, MUST burp them, etc. We went to my MILs on 9-2-06 & her fiancees 2 grandbabies were there. Here is Leah with them....

With the girl:

Now the boy:

Feeding the baby...

I am now watching a 6 mth old several times a week for a few hours a day & I also watch a 1 mth old once in a while. When they leave the house Leah freaks out. She gets hysterical that her baby is leaving. Poor girl! And NO this does not mean we will have another just to please her! LOL

Long time no see!
I've been totally MIA on here but at least things don't move too fast around here (unlike our 2 year olds). :)
Just been busy with the new house, new baby (does she still count as "new" if she's almost 7 months old?), taking lots of pictures...
Been on LJ some too (I'm hapahaole76).

Jack's been talking up a storm for a few months now...pretty much is like his grandma...can't get him to stop talking!
Yesterday Kaylie was sitting on the floor and started crying (she was constipated) so jack got down on her level, patted her head (gently mind you), and said, "Don't cwy Kawee. It's okay." SO CUTE! She loves her brother and any attention he gives her.

And today we had a friend over with her 2 kids (ages 6 and 4). Both our husbands work late so I thought we'd do a mommy and kid dinner. Oh nelly! Being around other people's kids sometimes really makes me appreciate how great mine are! Yeah, I just have to keep away from all those friends whose kids are angels and make mine look bad. :)

Oh, I just got a new carrier that I'm very excited about. It's a mei tai style made by babyhawk.com. It's great to carry Kaylie but I even used it to carry Jack on my back the other day (I think he must weight about 33lbs or so). Anyway, I've moved passed my stroller obsession onto the carrier obsession!

celia I'm so sorry to hear about what you're going through right now. Hugs. And hugs to your little Milo too.

danab Yay! Congrats on little Henri. I love your family pics! Noa is such a little fashion plate...so cute!

titia Congrats to you! Love the cutie pie curls on Holden!

luckiesgirl Leah still has the prettiest smile around!

OctoberPrincess I hope you're able to upload some pics soon so we can see a Tyler update. Is he still super blonde?

sal Hey lady! How're things going? I haven't been over the April boards much lately...I just can't keep up. But I check now and then to see if you've posted. Dylan looked so cute with his backpack going to school! And Kate is just growing up so fast. Now I can see why people say, "Enjoy this time." Since it does just fly by when you have your 2nd.

Congrats to the new ROs!!

Hapa YAY! Good to "see" you. Love the pictures. That carrier looks so cute! Is Jack's hair getting lighter? I know he was Harry Potter last year but he should be again this year. He is just adorable in his glasses. What camera do you have? The Rebel? Those pictures are really nice. If you confirm you do have it I may be convinced finally that we have to have it!

On our end, I thought we had avoided it but Dylan is deep in terrible twos. It is really annoying and I am trying to have patience. He acts out and hits and tests us all the time. But then will do something so sweet to make up for it. He is talking up a storm now so big kudos to early intervention. It makes him such a little person now and it is so much fun interacting with him. Oh and he LOVES preschool and it is so wild getting all the projects he brings home and putting them up on the fridge. I mean HOW did I get here. I feel like it was just MY projects on the fridge! LOL

Luckiestgirl Thanks for the tip on Photobucket!

Hapa it's so nice to hear from you! Jack is such a gorgeous little boy! Kaylie is so big already, it goes by so fast:( , she's adorable! ITA, with Sal, the pics look great! BTW, I love your new carrier...how was the learing curve on that thing?

Sal that's great news to hear how Dylan is talking up a storm! Isn't it amazing how they becaus real little "people" overnight! I can totally relate with the terrible 2's, there is never really a middle ground with Tyler...he's either really good or really bad. Thankfully he's usually really good.

hapahaole

sal
Oh no, the terrible 2's have made it to your house too huh? I thought Dylan was going to bypass them....sounded like he was doing so well. Guess there's no getting around it. Jack's mostly good...but has has bad and good days and for sure terrible 2 moments. We've been using the Super Nanny technique for time outs (though we call it the penalty box and involves sitting in a door way). Kind of works. Though he's gotten a bit robotic on the apology part...he says this as fast as he can, "I'm sorry mommy. Never do it again." Um yeah, like I believe you really mean that. Now I make him look me straight in the eye when he apologizes and say exactly what he's sorry for and I tell him not to say that "never do it again" part. Because we all know that ain't happening.
Yay for Dylan talking up a storm! A couple of my friends have their kids doing speech therapy. I think it's so awesome we actually have such a useful free program available. I've got to find a school for Jack because I know he'd love it too.

camera
Yep, I've got the Digital Rebel XT. Got it maybe a year ago. I love it. And I just got a new lens (one of the cheaper one) and it's awesome for portraits and getting the background all blurry. Anyway, I totally recommend it. But you may want to try it out in the store first since there are a lot of new cameras that have come out since I bought mine. I like that mine is (I think) still the lightest of all the digital SLRs though. Anyway, if you have any questions on it, feel free to ask. If I'm not obessing over strollers, it's cameras or now... baby carriers... :)

October Princess
Hey, long time no see! I cannot believe how blonde Tyler is now. He looks so much like you too! Super cute pics!
The learning curve on the mei tai carrier I have was not long. The front carry is pretty easy...took under 5 times to get the hang of it. The back carry is a bit trickier. If I use it for Kaylie, I do it over the bed or couch or have someone help me. But I used it with Jack the other day and since he'll hold on to me, I could do it on my own.
The babyhawk's come in so many cool fabrics I couldn't choose, so I bought one that someone was selling on thebabywearer.com (had custom made and then decided to sell before she even used it...). I love it though.

talk to you later,
h

October Tyler is SO big. HOW did our babies get so big!? And TOO funny. We just took the kids to sesame street live!! Did you go to Continental Airlines Arena? How funny would it be if we were at the same show. We went to the Sunday at 4pm show. Dylan loved it, Katie did too. They were both mesmerized by the lights and music and of course Elmo!

eta oh we went to the central park zoo today. it was so much fun. have you been? the childrens part is amazing

Hapa I am so sold on that camera. My friend has one too and her pictures are always gorgeous. I will probably have lots of questions around holiday time. Is it hard to learn how to use it if you have no clue about photography? like with indoor flash pictures?

Hey! Keep your eye out for deals on the camera...they've been having rebates and bundling the camera with lenses and other goodies. You don't HAVE to know that much about photography to take a decent shot...you can just leave it in automatic and it'll do everything for you. But if you want to take even better pictures, it helps to learn a couple things...but nothing I couldn't tell you in about 10 min. Some stores run free workshops too...something to look into. I bought mine from B&H in NY (for us living out of state, there's no tax or shipping). Costco also sells the camera. You'll also want to get at least one 1 GB memory card and an extra battery (got mine on ebay for pretty cheap). You will not be sorry!

Sorry you are going through the terrible 2's with Dylan. Maybe it is just a delayed reaction to the baby and he'll be over it soon?

Hapa -
Thanks!

Jack is soooo photogenic! I just love that first pic of him - he looks like such a ham there, all struttin' his stuff.

Melissa -
Tyler is an absolute doll! He has got the most gorgeous blue eyes!
I love the pic of the 2 of you also.

Kelli -
I was thinking of you on the angel baby rememberance day!

BTW, since I didn't put it in last time, my EDD is 5.16.07 if you want to add it to the front page. :D

I've been lurking along, but we are finally out of the stone ages (dial up), and it is easier for me to post.

Colin is a big brother now, his little sister Neila (rhymes with Sheila) was born 9/22. He's a wonderful and loving big brother....but he's still 2 and still, uh, very independent.

Steve's Sweety Congrats!!

luckiestgirl What a beautiful way to remember your little girl! I hope it was a healing evening for your family.

--oops--baby's up, thinking of everyone!

Titia~Thanks for thinking of me! :)

Sal~Thanks for asking! Things are going great with DH & I. We talk all the time about stressors & he has been venting to me about his work problems instead of holding it in & blowing up. He is so much calmer now. PLUS when we had our 2 hour talk, I told him that he can’t be letting his workers call him at all hours of the night & that they can’t be so dependent on him & he needs to tell them to not call & to deal with things on their own unless it is an emergency. So he did! He is there from 6am-4 or 5pm... they can talk to him then. He does need to sleep! His workers are so incompetent sometimes.... They can’t think or do things for themselves... Like today, DH is at a training 2 hours away, so they call him to tell him a door is broke. They know he is 2 hours away so what is he suppose to do? Why not tell the other supervisors that are there? Sometimes his workers act worse then my kids! That girl that was saved really made my day! I was glad that Amanda’s site helped someone else! Thanks for visiting!

Karen~Congratulations! Thanks for the compliments on my DDs site! It was a good day! But it could have been better if it was a bit warmer! It was soooooo cold!

More pictures! On Oct. 7th we were driving around & Leah was getting all excited about the moon & wanted to catch the moon. I have never done pictures like this before so was trying to get it to look like she was holding the moon in her hands. It didn't work well because it was too dark but they still are cute!
Daddy & Leah:
