I recently got a new job as a supervisor and feel I need to upgrade my work clothes. I have been looking and most of the shirts I that I like don't really seem my style. I have several button up shirts that I wear. I have lots of nice sweaters for winter, but I am lacking in the Spring/Summer wardrobe department. I wear a lot pants like the Editor pant from Express. Solids and pinstripes in mostlly conservative colors! (gray, black, navy, raisin, brown, beige)
The office is pretty casual. My boss wears mostly pants suits. The non-management workers wear pretty much anything, except denim. What do you wear to work? Help dress me, please!

I was going to suggest express editor pants :) Have you looked at ann taylor, ann taylor loft, and JCrew? They always have really nice classic pieces.

I wear suits, so I am probably a bad source of advice.
I will say, I always dressed at least as nicely as my boss. The more casual you dress, it seems the less respect and authority you are given, particularly if you are young looking.
I would go more in this direction:

I would start with taking a look at what other supervisors wear, and then build your wardrobe around that.
I also wear suits most days, but sometimes I am not feeling it, so I turn to sweater sets and casual blazers that I can wear with trousers or khakis.

If there's a Ross, Marshalls, TJ Maxx in your area you can find great stuff much cheaper than department stores.
I recently got a job and Ross has been my place to look for clothes.

Thanks everyone. I was on the right track, but thought maybe someone had an idea that I hadn't thought of. I have button ups, twinsets, pantsuits, etc. When I shop, I just don't see anything that I really like. I have been to Marshalls, Ann Taylor, etc.
There are no other supervisors at my level. It was a job that was just created, so I can't go by what the other person before me wore. I can be more casual because I work an evening shift (that's a quote from my boss.) No need to do suits every day. She says the only reason that she mostly wears them is because she is meeting with the VP several times a week. I still want to look polished and professional though.
Thanks for your help. We are travelling this week and I will try to do some shopping then. Maybe being in a different area will spark something!
