This may be a stupid question, but I rarely go to musicals and I have no idea what to wear! Suggestions?

Hi Emily! :)
I saw Spamalot in NY and Les Mis here in DC within the last few months, and both times I wore nice pants and a blazer, or a skirt. I saw a complete range of outfits - from jeans and t-shirts  to suits.
I think if you were in the business casual range you would be comfortable and fit right in.

Since it is an evenign show, I'd probably go in something on the casual end of cocktail. I would think business casual would be on the most casual end of the raneg you would want to go. There might be a few people in jeans, but that's pretty tacky (yes, I used the "T" word).
Use it as a fun excused to get all dressed up and go with something nice.

I went last week, and people were wearing everything from cocktail dresses to jeans. I wore my usual black pants/sweater set, and felt quite appropriately dressed.
I hadn't seen the Opera House renovations before--they did a lovely job (and the place is HUGE).

I went to Wicked in Chicago this week you'll see everything, like everyone has said. Some people were in jeans most were in slacks or nicer but nothing too fancy. Have fun, its really cute! :)

I saw The Pajama Game last week & sat 2 seats away from Meryl Streep, who was wearing jeans! I wore a dressy black outfit & was completely comfortable.

I'm going to see it in Chicago in a few weeks! Let us know how you liked it. I'm excited, but wary too. The book is WAY strange.
I'm going to wear a dress.

I still love dressing up to see shows! When I was little, going into Chicago to see something was a special event, so I'd always dress up. I still like to do it if I can, like if I'm coming from home and have the time. But usually I'm coming from work and I have to wear what I have on. :(

I wear a dress and heels to the theater if it's an evening show; for a matinee I wear nice pants or a skirt.
