I own a few wrap dresses, and I have trouble getting them to lay right, particularly in the cleavage area. I will put one on and tie it, and by the time I get where I'm going, everything is moved around and my bra is hanging out. Is there some secret to getting them to stay properly without sliding/exposing too much?

Double stick tape? I've never tried it, but apparently that's what all of hollywood does.

I have a wrap top or two... I always end up pinning the top where I want it.

I usually just pin the front w/ a safety pin where you can't see it....that way you are safe all day and you don't have to worry about dbl stick tape coming off.

here's my prob with wrap dresses : i am bigger on my bottom, smaller on top. so i find that the wrap dresses are too revealing on top, because my "anchors" are relatively small, and ineffective in keeping the dress in place.

i don't trust the fashion tape with this task. so i usually wear a camisole underneath the dress, or sometimes i take those teeny tiny gold safety pins and secure the dress (hiding it under the inner layer). it takes a while to get the pin in a position so that it doesn't pull & look noticeable, but it can be achieved!

The tiny gold safety pin is my secret, too!

Tiny safety pin on the inside here, too. Also works for the wrap blouses.

You could sew a snap in, but it might pop open if it's too tight. At least, that way you don't have to fiddle with a safety pin every time. For me, I do the safety pin or camisole underneath, though it takes me forever to get the pin right. Maybe that's why I haven't worn my wrap dresses in over a year!

I collect vintage jewelry, so I just let one of my favorite brooches do double duty.

I also do the little saftey pin trick and not only go through the apparel fabric but the center of my bra as well. It keeps everything very solidly in place.

The first few times I wore wrap dresses/shirts, that happened to me too. This is how I've managed to "fix" the problem for the most part: when you put the dress on, cross the bottom panel over you, and then as you cross the top panel across the other way, lift it up slightly and bring it down on top of your breasts (in an up, out, then down motion). Cinch the sash really tight, and adjust the top panel across the top of your chest again, and cinch the sash even tighter before tying the knot.

This helps my wrap garments stay in place 98% of the time (except for a new silk wrap dress I recently bought - the fabric's just too slick). If that fails, keep a safety pin hidden on the inside of the top flap. ;)

What figures/body types work best with wrap dresses? I'm 5'3, 115lbs, have hips but I'm only a 32B on a good day. Do these dresses only work well for women who have more on top?

Absolutely not. I am small-chested and they work fine for me. I usually don't have problems with keeping any kind of wrap-style clothing in place.

I actually think that wrap dresses might work better on small-chested figures. I'm pretty large busted (32DD) and I cannot wear one without a cami underneath. Even a safety pen doesn't quite cut it.

I either wear a cami or a bralette that looks like a cami. It makes me much more comfortable.
