Does anyone else have this DVD? I just started working out to it today (I bought it at Bed, Bath, and Beyond), and boy, that was exhausting! I started the 6-week work-out plan, and I was wondering if you're supposed to work out to it every day for 6 weeks or every other day? Anyone have any idea?

DH and I have been working out to this since New Year's and we love it. We do it every day for 6 days, Sunday is our day off. I HATE workout 1 (the lunges kill me) but really like the rest. We alternated 1 and 3 for a week, then moved to 2 and 4 for the next week, then went back, so on and so forth. I can really tell a difference since January. Good luck!!

Thanks! Those lunges killed me! I seriously thought I was going to faint when I was done.

LOL, I almost fainted too! :) After the first time, I had to lie down on the bathroom floor while DH fanned me with a towel. Funny to think about now b/c it's gotten a lot easier, but I was in agony there for a while. It's very exciting when all the hard crap starts getting easier.
If you think 1 is hard, wait until boot camp! DH still, after three months, moans and groans and yells curses at Bob.

My husband and I are starting this DVD tonight. We are doing the six week program. We watched it together last night and it looks fairly easy...but we were sitting on the couch watching rather than doing!! :D

bethnjim You have to let me know how it went. Those lunges can get a bit hard... good luck!
I do this one too! The lunges are horrible! I don't know who bob thinks I am..:)

Well, my husband and I did the DVD last night and OH MY GOSH...it was the hardest video I have ever done. We were both yelling at the TV and we were both sweating like crazy. Holy cow...the lunges were HORRIBLE...I could not get through all of them and just kept my own pace. It was so exhausting. We are doing the second thing tonight and we hope to follow the 6day a week/6 week program. We both could not believe how out of shape we are!!

You can really notice a difference if you follow the program correctly for the 6 weeks. Dh and I didn't miss a day for the first 6 weeks and I couldn't believe the muscles I had and I think I dropped a whole clothes size from when I started. It was frustrating not seeing the scale go down, but I could definitely tell a difference in my thighs and butt, especially.
Good luck everyone! DH and I just started our 14th week (we do things to keep it new--I just don't want to stop doing the video!)
Does anyone else think Gary is especially annoying? "Should I be sweating Bob?" "Should my back be straight Bob?" Dh and I like to yell curse words at Gary to keep ourselves amused while we work out. :)

Dh and I like to yell curse words at Gary to keep ourselves amused while we work out. :)
Haha...Jim and I yell at the TV too. It keeps us amused while we are sweating!
We did the second workout last night on the 6 week program and it was a bit easier...probably because it was more "lifting weights" rather than cardio. Tonight we are doing cardio again, which should be a big kick in the butt.
So far, we both really love it and plan to stick to the six week program.

We worked out again last night and the last hold after the lunges that he makes you do almost killed me. OH MY GOSH...and he quits counting and starts talking about something...grrrrrr!!

Ha, DH gets SO upset when Bob stops counting. It doesn't really bother me anymore, but DH curses like a sailor. Especially when he does it during boot camp!

We are starting week 2 this week with the intense cardio and boot camp. We previewed it on Saturday and OH MY GOSH...we are SO not looking forward to this!! I will come back and give a report, but boot camp looks HORRIBLE!!

High intensity cardio is a HARD workout. We do the bootcamp tonight...

Good luck with bootcamp, BethnJim!! At first I hated High intensity cardio, but now I really like it. Football/tire drill suck, but after that it's pretty easy.
I started out bootcamp with 1 lb weights and have only recently moved up to 3 lbs. If you aren't used to weights or don't have a lot of muscle in your upper body, I would definitely recommend not using any weights or a very low one. DH has a hard time using 6 lb weights during bootcamp and he's got decent upper body strength.
bethnjim
05-09-2006, 11:42 AM
Oh my gosh...I definitely won't be using ANY weights. I didn't plan to use them until I felt ready and I am so out of shape that I won't be ready for a while!! :)

Okay, we did bootcamp last night and I seriously thought I was going to die. It was horrible. The holds were the worst and my muscles are super sore today. I have no idea how I am going to do the high intensity workout tonight.....

I dropped out of it after Week 2 because I was having what I thought was a gall baller attack. Might start back up next week.
Congrats to bethnjim for sticking to it and seeing a difference! That's awesome!

Thanks!! I went clothes shopping yesterday and have dropped two dress sizes, which I was pretty happy about. I still have a ways to go, but at this point I will take anything. We have also both noticed a huge difference in our endurance and our hearts. Before our heart rate was really high for 10-15 minutes after we worked out and now our heart rate goes back to normal within five minutes of working out. We also have more endurance.

I bought this DVD a few weeks ago and just tried the high intensity cardio workout tonight..I really liked it. I think I will try the bootcamp next. I am not going to do the 6 week program or whatever because I will just be using this DVD when I don't go to the gym. Bob is totally hot..is he gay? i thought I had heard that somewhere. He is so nice and a good motivator.

I was wondering the same thing...either way, he is SO hot. Love him!!
I really like the low intensity cardio workout...I think it is my favorite. The lunges used to KILL, but now I really like how it works out my legs.

Can you guys tell me what kind of equipment, if any, you use with this video? (Handweights, step, etc.) I went and checked it out on Amazon, and it looks appealing.
bethnjim
06-17-2006, 04:18 AM
Nanner--
To begin with, no equipment is necessary. My husband and I on in our 6th week and we are using 3-5-8 pound weights. As we get stronger, we plan to continue buying additional weights.

Oh and a tip for everyone doing this video...DO NOT WEIGH YOURSELF...just go by your clothes. I finally let down and stepped on a scale. I was so upset to find out that I have gained 6lbs even though I have dropped 2 dress sizes. My husband has told me to get rid of the scale and to concentrate on my clothes size and how I feel, which is what I plan to do going forward...:p

Beth, I'm so glad you're still liking it! We've gone from 6 days/week to 3, but we've been doing it for 5 months now. You're totally right on the scale issue--I was dismayed to see that I wasn't losing as much weight as I thought I should, but my clothes were fitting so much better. In fact, now that we've cut our time down, I can see a difference (not a good one!)
Keep up the good work!:)

tbell--
We just did the bootcamp last night and even after 6 full weeks of 6 days a week, my husband and I were both SO tired...especially during the jumping jacks part. Uggghhh!!
Glad to hear that someone else gained weight, but still had their clothes fitting better! It was so upsetting at first, but I went and tried on my smaller pants and they pulled up and buttoned which made me do a happy dance. My husband thinks it could be the fact that I am gaining muscle which weighs more...and I know I am gaining muscle. My legs are really getting defined now.

Well, I went out and got it, and did the 1st workout of the 6 week routine. I really liked it. I liked that it didn't take an hour to do, but I still felt like I got a good workout. And my legs and butt felt it this morning.
Did the sculpting one this morning. Liked it, too. I hope I still like it after doing it several times. That's usually the prob. for workout videos for me. But since this one has some variety, we'll see.
Thanks for this thread! I'm glad to hear you ladies are having success with the DVD.

Beth-- I hear you on boot camp! In fact, I was supposed to do it this morning and was dreading it so much, I skipped my workout all together. :o It's not that bad once you've started (I can STILL only use 3 lb weights for boot camp but am up to 10 lbs on strength/sculpt) but I hate getting started! I think your DH is right in that muscle weighs more than fat (still sucks watching the scale go up instead of down!) :)
Nanner-- good for you! I like strength/sculpt too, it's probably my favorite. I'm like you, I get bored really easily and it's frustrating to me watching these skinny, perky women bounce around. I've managed to stay with this workout for so long in part because I like that they're still tired, complaining and overweight! :D

Tbell--
We did the high intensity last night, which means we have bootcamp tonight. It drives my husband nuts, but once we get into it and I get really tired, I keep saying, "Bootcamp is no joke...no joke" like Bob does through it. It sometimes helps me to kick it up a notch! ;)

Bootcamp cracks us up because Suzie (aka Bob's pet) is working out with no weights and supposedly feeling the same thing as Dre, who is sweating bullets and barely getting through her workout. Bob talks about what a workout Suzie is getting and Dre is glaring at her the whole time. :D
Laughing at those people is what gets me through.

I can't decide if I need this video or if I should avoid it at all cost! When we got our satelite set up, we disconnected our VCR, so I'm at a loss without my WATP tapes. But I have to say, this DVD seems way more intense than my Leslie Sansone or Kathy Smith stuff.

I have looked at the menu about 100 times so I apologize if this is a dumb question. So- about the 6 week work out. Best I can tell it says for weeks 1 and 3 you do the low impact and scultping. Then weeks 2 and 4 you do the high impact and bootcamp. What's up w/ weeks 5 and 6? do I do the low impact and sculpting week 5 and the high and bootcamp for week 6? Not that I'm there yet, I'm just in week 2 but I'm just curious.
Thus far I'm enjoying it. High Impact Cardio kicked my arse and I'm not really looking forward to bootcamp tomorrow but I keep telling myself each day gets me one day closer to low impact and sculpting :)

I think it's a misprint. I assumed it was supposed to say Low Impact and Sculpting for Weeks 1-3, and High Impact and Bootcamp for Weeks 4-6. I couldn't imagine that they'd have beginners doing the high impact and bootcamp that early in the program.

Interesting. I totally consider myself a fitness beginner and did the high impact today. Holy Cow. I made it through it but did have to slow down a couple times.

My husband and I, from the very beginning, alternated between the low impact/sculpting for week one, then high impact/bootcamp for week two, and then we switched back and forth each week. We are still doing that now. I didn't think the high impact and bootcamp are SUPER difficult and find the hardest video to be the low impact because of all the lunges. I think the high impact is actually easier than low.
Anyways, we are on...week 10 or 11 now and are still doing it 6 days a week every single week. And, we still LOVE it!!

Good for you! We recently picked it up again after being lazy for a few weeks. But instead of 6 days/week, we do it three and find something else (walking, jogging) to do for the other 2 or 3 days. I was just getting too bored with it.
FTR, I did the same as you. Low-impact/strengh and sculpt during week 1, then high-impact/bootcamp for week 2, and so on and so forth.

So a workout video/DVD junkie here. . . . I used to do Tae-bo and lost like, 30 lbs doing that my freshman year of college.
However. . . I haven't been working out since then very regularly (I get VERY bored VERY easily!), and am now 30w pregnant. . . heading towards a kind of high weight gain (maybe 35-45 lbs?) by the end.
Anyway, it sounds like you ladies have had great success with this workout program.
My questions are: How long is each workout? As a new mom, I doubt I'll have a lot of time. Also, do you think I'll be able to jump right into it, or should I wait until 6 weeks pp or maybe start with my low-impact Denise Austin for a month and then jump into this??
Thanks!!!

Congrats on the baby!! We are going to start trying next summer, which seems like a million years away!!
As for the DVD, they vary in length, but I think the actual workout part varies between 20-30 minutes and then there is a five minute cool down and five minute warmup at the beginning and end of each workout.
As for jumping into it...I think it depends on how you feel. I've never been pregnant, but my sister has two babies and I don't think she could have jumped into these because of the lunges and squats.:D
Good luck!!
