My best friend just got engaged this week and they are planning a summer 2007 wedding. I'm one of her bridesmaids and I thought I'd send a little gift to her. She live 2 states away. I was thinking a card and maybe like a 20 doller gift card to target or something. Is that a nice engagement gift? What else would be good that would be easy to send through the mail? TIA!

I think a GC would be nice, maybe to a restaurant. In the card you could say "Congrats I'm so happy for you! Wish I could be there to take you out to dinner to celebrate, but since I can't this is the next best thing. Go enjoy dinner with your new husband to be!"
I think a GC for dinner with a note along the lines of what maplekitty suggested would be nice. A subscription to a wedding magazine or a cute wedding planner would also be easy to mail and in the price range you are talking about.

Thanks maplekitty and amew! That is a great idea! I also thought I'd order one of those cute bride tank tops to send to her too. I had one and I loved wearing it!

You could put together a care package for her. If you have any wedding magazines left over, you can send her those (the ideas rarely change) as well as anything you found particularly helpful during the planning stages. I like the GC to a restaurant.
When my BF got engaged I put together a "sanity" bag. It had some foot soother (for pounding the vendor areas at bridal shows), an eye mask, some bridal magazines, some bridal scrapbook stuff, a book about great couples and a wedding DVD (My Big Fat Greek Wedding - we had seen it together and loved it). I put everything in a monogrammed bag with her new initials. She loved it so much! She used that bag for everything, and she can still use it since it has her "current" name on it.

I like to give my engaged girl friends Bridal Bargains, and then maybe a nice planner to help her organize.

I would do a little gift basket. Not sure what price range you're looking at, but it would be fun to do a bottle of champagne with 2 glasses and then some magazines and a wedding planner book.
Congrats to your friend. :)

Thank you everyone. I went to Wal-Mart today and I bought a white tank top and I'm going to glue rinestones on it that will say "Bride to Be" on it. I was going to buy one off the internet but they were like 25 dollers and I got the tank top for 5 bucks and the rinestones for 2 bucks plus I think it'll be more special that I made it for her. I also got her a card and I'm going to throw in the magazines too. Thanks for all the ideas!

I love the tank idea. I'm sure she'll love it.

Okay didn't turn out as well as I would've liked it too but it's the thought that counts right?

Ditto this! I have done this twice, along with some mag subscriptions and everyone swears by that book!

Thank you! It was sooooo HARD to get that to look right. I was going to put Bride to be but the Bride part took long enough, haha. Thank you all again! I'm mailing it off tomorrow.
