Memorial Day Weight loss Challenge

Who we are:
We are a group of women who for 1 reason or another want to shed a few (or more) lbs. We need the encouragement of others no matter their size or goal and we thrive in an atmosphere where we can all support one another.
Want to join the fun?!?
We welcome one and all. It doesn’t matter what diet you are on (if any) or how many miles a week you run (if any) we will all find lots of help and support here.
Feel free to join at any time during the challenge.
It’s better to join NOW than to wait until we start a new challenge!:D
You don’t have to read the whole thread to join. Feel free to just jump in on the last page and post a reply with the following information. None of this info is a must but it helps to learn a little bit about each other.

Known issues: Was an elite athlete 5 yrs ago, I'm an endomesomorph (gain weight eaily with a muscular build) need 7+ hours of cardio a week to see any results. I'm the heaviest I've ever been in my life I have always been athletic and musclely (sp??) Currently I have a stress fracture in my foot which limits the types of cardio machines I can use (bike only) so I am swimming 2 - 3x week and trying to get to the gym 2-3x week as well

So, this plateau has been going on for about 2 months. I've been walking anywhere from 1/2 to 3 miles three times a week depending on DD's schedule. I've noticed that I'm eating more throughout the days, so I'm really going to be watching that this challenge. The really sad thing is that none of the clothes I got for Christmas (read new wardrobe) are fitting now. :( We don't have a lot of money to go replacing all those in larger sizes. Plus, I've told DH that I refuse to by a size 14. I guess I will live in my only pair of casual pants (excluding sweats) until I lose the weight, even if that means being a major fashion don't/muffin top in the meantime! :eek:

I have been on a challenge hiatus for awhile, but stll pluggin' away at the weightloss!!! :)
My husband's reunion is coming up in July and I want to hit my goal by then. So, I thought taking part in the challenges again will keep me accountable!! ;)

I speed walked 2 miles last night and I plan to do the same tonight.
I have also been trying to be conscious of what I'm eating. I'd rather eat the calories than drink them so I dont drink soda (haven't for 3 weeks) and I'm trying to drink more water but I just dont get thirsty enough!
Is it bad for you that I could probably only drink 40 ounces of any beverage a day? Sometimes I can go all day with only a few sips of something.

I had the same problem w/water until I realized it really helped my mweight loss. I honestly think my 16 lbs. I've lost I bet you at least 10 of them was from drinking so much water. Id rink 100 + oz. of water a day. I have to force myself to do it though. It isn't b/c I'm thirsty. I bought myself a 64 oz. water jug and I fill it up sometimes 3 times a day and I carry it everywhere I go. The gym, work, grocery store etc. I just about every few minutes have a big gulp of water. Yea, it sends to the bathroom a lot but if it's going to help my weight loss along it's worth it.

But I've been trying to make sure I drink more water during the day, and it seems to be helping some. I've made mroe changes to my diet this time around, and haven't been to the gym in a bit because I haven't had time, but hopefully this coming week I'll be getting it integrated back into my schedule.

Honestly I am in shock. This is my worst eating week ever, I had fries several times, gyros, cookies every day....:confused: I felt kind of icky and I know I can't continue with this way of eating and keep loosing, but I will take this loss.

good job! What I do when I'm in that don't want to workout mood I tell myself to at least do 15 minutes. That way if I at least so that much it's better than not have done anything at all right?

I had a pretty good first week. I was hoping to lose more than this because usually my first week I can lose btwn. 4-6 lbs but I'll take the 2.5. I did really good with exercise. I took my boys for walks 5 days this week for anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour. I did good with my diet too but need to do a little bit better.

I'm so proud of myself this week I've done 100 percent better on my eating and excercising like a champ! Just today so far I've done 33 minutes on the eliptical at the gym and my Mom is coming over later for a 3 mile walk outside!!! WHOO HOO! I just found out lastn ight me and Tony and my family are going on vacation in June...a beach vacation....so time to shed at least 5 lbs. before I go! GO ME!:D :eek:

Oh...last week was NOT a good week. :o I ate like crap on Easter, the following Tuesday was my husband's birthday and we had dinner at Texas Roadhouse. I indulged in steak, LOADED baked potato, salad, and rolls. It was tasty I must admit. ;) Wednesday was my Mom's birthday and we went out to dinner again and then enjoyed some cake...both nights actually. :o
I declared the rest of the week a free week and wasn't strict at all with what I consummed. :rolleyes: I enjoyed the week so much that I decided to skip the ol' weigh in for fear that the number on the scale would scare me. :p
Good news..I am back on the healthy wagon this week!! I took Cole to the Zoo yesterday, walked around for 3 hours, drank 96 ounces of water, and ate healthy. YAY!!
Today is the same, ate healthy, drank 96 ounces of water...I am back girls!!
I plan on weighing in on Friday and crossing my fingers that I am not too far away from 160.5, but I am sure there will be a gain.

I am just not having any luck this time around. I weighed myself again this morning just to see if yesterday's no loss was a fluke but instead of there being a loss or a stay the same I gained!!!! I don't quote understand the difference between some of those goals that you are looking for plus I don't know much about setting goals, so I did my best.
Lately my back has been killing me. It is not uncommon for my back to hurt every now and then but it usually goes away. This time it has not. Yesterday I saw a scale at the IL's house and weighed myself (don't have one at home) and saw I weigh 140! My "healthy/ goal weight" for my height (5'6") and age is 130. And even at 130 I felt somewhat uncomfortable so my goal is to be 125.
I may revise this goal as I go along because like I said before, I don't know much about goal setting. I think I didn't feel confortable at 130 because very little of that was muscle. If I start to work out and gain muscle, I may feel fine at 130. So we will see.
I am also going to try and figure out how to start a CC journal (or find my original one because I think I started one before) and make it be my weight loss journal and write about my workouts and food intake. I think that will help.

I've been dragging my feet on starting WW since giving birth to my daughter in June. it's definitely time though. I've had a lot of success with WW in the past, losing 32 pounds a couple of years back. Unfortunately, a long TTC journey and a pregnancy added it all back on. :( I'm ready to take control again! I am trying SBD for the next 2 weeks to see what I think. I am also starting to work out today! I super cleaned this morning for an hour and while that sounds lame, I worked up a sweat!
I believe it's one of the best workouts. I always work up a sweat when I clean my apartment. I think I logged in my fitday.com once that I cleaned for 2 hours and it said I should've burned around 200 cals. :eek: Thats nice for not really doing a workout ya know? :)

Thanks Andrea!! I weighed myself today and lost another pound! I'm wondering if its bc I am off BC this month? Maybe BC really does pack on pounds? I haven't been under 117 in about a year so going down to 114 in 2 days seems odd to me. And my scale isn't broke either.

The weirdest, but most awesome, thing happened to me today. I threw on one of my tanks that was embarrassingly tight on, and it fit - still a little snug, but it fit!!! :D Then I was in a hurry to the bathroom, undid my belt, and had my jeans halfway down before I had realized that I hadn't unbuttoned them. :eek: Yay! The walking is finally paying off!

This morning I got out some of my "skinny clothes" that I kept back from when I was a Size 12 (Before starting this routine I was a Size 16). Some are still too small but I fit in them a lot better than I used to. I also am currently a Size 14 so I'm thrilled about dropping 1 size already. Also this morning I braved the scale. Last week when I weighed myself I was at 170.5 lbs. This morning I had a bad feeling the scale went up but instead I dropped .5 lb.!! Gotta love when you feel bloated but still lose weight.

I finally got back to the gym today. Even though I ahd to fight traffic coming back from the hospital, I made myself go. Geez, I didn't realize how much muscle strength you can loose in 2 months! I have to start slowly building back up to where I was, but with TTC later this summer, its robably better late than never.
Congrats to all the loosers! And yes, being off BC definitely makes the weight loss easier.

This morning I am wearing a pair of cords I purchased at Christmas that I had to put away a few weeks ago!! :eek: Although the number on the scale hasn't changed much, I'm loving that I can pull out some of my old clothes! :D

The other day I was able to slip in to a pair of Size 16 jeans that didn't fit a few weeks ago. Funny thing is, my work pants (which I've been wearing since I was 15 pounds over what I weight now) are still snug on me. :confused:

Week 5-0/135 but I dropped an inch in my waist, 1/2 in my hips, and a little in my thighs and my jeans are bigger so I'm more focused on that. I've been hitting the gym daily, eating right and staying plenty active. I think it's my weight lifting that is keeping the scale from dropping.

i haven't had a chance to update in a while. i hurt my knee so i couldn't workout like i had planned, but it's better now and the weight is still moving down.
i think my first official goal is 10 pounds.
the problem is we are going on vacation for a week. so lots of eating out. we're going to florida, so i'll just have to make sure to get lots of exercising in which shouldn't be a problem (I hope).

I'd still like the + by my name each week b/c it makes me accountable for what I put in my mouth. HOWEVER the challenge total goal I'm okay with putting 0 pounds lost. If you take away all the negative consequences for posting here then what is the point of having a 'challenge' then its just a support for ladies that want to loose weight thread. kwim?:o
