I'm looking for ideas for Mother's Day projects. I have to plan for my leave and don't want the sub to have to plan this or shell out money. I teach second grade this year. Last year, when I had them in first, they made color your own plant pots for the moms and color your own mugs for the dads and we filled them with candy.

You could design book bags for mom (get canvas bags that mom can cart around library books in). You can get some cheap online.

I would get an LTD catalogue- or check them out online. You can get fun products in bulk that are relatively cheap depending on what you are looking for and what your price range may be.

fathers day.... hmmmm

don't know we usually did a doughnuts with dad day where the kids would read a poem or story for their dad and have some doughnuts and juice /coffee

There is a cute card to make for dads that looks like a shirt you fold and 12 X 18 consturction paper down. (have the paper the tall way and fold down so the fold is at the top) then cut 1" down from the fold horizonally about 3 " on both sides
fold thos in and down like a triangle (forms a collar) then cut two tall rectangles out of the paper about 2 - 3 " below the collar cut to make 2 sleeves it looks like a shirt when it's done. ;)

Have you looked at Oriental Trading Company? They have tons of projects and most cost $10 for a dozen kits...

Maybe a picture frame decoration kit or something like that...

When I taught preschool I would cut out wallpaper samples in a shape of tie and put lined paper between. On the paper the children could write cute little notes about dad.

I am not sure if this is too young for second grade, but it still turns out cute. I teach sixth grade now so I not up on my cutesy projects. :)
