DD is nearly 6 mo old, and we're still using the smallest sized pacis. I heard somewhere (probably here;) ) that someone else never changed to the next size up and their dc grew tired of it because it was too short so that's why I haven't boughten any more. But I was thinking if this could cause dental or any other health problems by doing this?

I have no clue, but when DS turned 6 months I moved him up to the 6+ size.

Liz I remember reading the same thing!! And I haven't moved up in paci size either, it seemed like a good idea to me. I am curious too if anyone knows anything about it.

I dunno...we're using Soothies and they seem to come in newborn and 3-month and up. We switched from newborn because she started shoving the entire thing in her mouth.

My dad's a dentist and he's never commented on sizing or anything else paci related.

My DH is a dentist and he recommends the NUK pacifier because it is better for preventing occlusion (bite) problems. He hasn't mentioned pacifier size, but it would make sense that smaller would be better if DC will continue to accept the smaller size.
ETA: The package should read "orthodontic pacifier" if you want one to prevent dental problems.
