Has anyone out there had a full brazilian wax? If so, was it really painful? Did the pain last for a few days? I am contemplating one for my wedding/honeymoon.....

Yes, it hurts like holy f-cking hell, in my experience. But no, the pain does not last longer than the waxing session itself.

I've had it done before and yes, it hurt like hell but I loved the results.

The best bet is to get it a couple days before the wedding and if possible, I would strongly suggest getting one done to try it (and make sure you like it) before the wedding, I would not try it for the first time just before a big event like that.

For my wedding, since it was out of town, I had it done by someone who wasn't really familiar with me and I bruised. BADLY. :( I would personally suggest getting someone you've seen before and are comfortable with.

I personally don't think a wax is that bad, especailly if you go to someone good. Ask for recommendations. They only time it gets bad for me is if they do a lot os waxing in quick sucession. I can handle about three pulls and usally after that, they have to reapply wax, which gives you a good break for the pain durign which you can catch your breath and relax a bit. If it gets to be too much, I just ask for a quick pause. Don't be afraid to speak up about something.

Also, take a couple Advil or something beforehand. It helps.

I'm always sore afterwaords for a couple hours. It's nothign terrible, but the area tends to be a bit red and inflamed. If I have nothing better to do, I'll slap something cool on it. (DH laughs his ass off when he sees me sitting there with a frozen waterbottle beteen my legs on resting on the top of the area.) But it's not neceesary. I'm actually getting on on Saturday morning before DH's familiy's Easter festivities later that day so if I can tolerate my MIL, BIL and SIL while dealing with Post Waxing Syndrome, you know it's not that bad!!

The advil actually does help--take two or three beforehand. I have never been able to manage the whole Brazilian. I get the sides and top done as far as I can stand, basically.

I can handle leg waxing--it stings but it's not as bad.

I would probably grit my teeth and do it more often, but I hate growing my leg/pube hair out, and it gets kind of expensive, too. So I do it for vacations only, usually.

Reagardign not beign able to do a full brazilian, for me, the Brazilian parts actually hurt far far less than the top and sides. The hair is much thinner in the nether regions so it really doesn't hurt much at all. For my first Brazilian, I was terrified because I kept thinking that if top hurt as much as it did, then the more sensitive areas would be awful, but much to my surprise, that wasn't the case at all. If you've already done the top and sides, the hard part is over.

you might want to take a moment and do a quick search (http://www.constantchatter.com/search.php?searchid=707517), as I'm fairly certain this has been discussed before (it's a fairly common question)

Yep I have been getting them for about 5 years now and I will never go back to regular bikini waxes. I just take an advil about an hour before to take the edge off. Yeah it definitely does not tickle...but it only hurts when the wax is ripped off...then it is a nice tingly feeling!

ok, i am going to be the voice of gloom and doom. i had a brazilian bikini wax once and only once. wendalah was right that it hurt like f&^(*&^%$ hell, and that isn't really why i won't go again. i had a severe reaction to it. i was swollen and red for almost a week. also, i got whitehead pimples!!! yes, i know tmi, but you should be forewarned that if you are someone with sensitive skin this may happen to you too. i had bikini waxes before, but i never had that reaction. i went to a very reputable place too that was highly reccomended by the wc ladies. what made it worse is that i did this right before my honeymoon. i wouldn't let my dh see me in the light!!

racerswife, I go every 4-6 weeks. Depends on if I am trying to time with an event...like my anniversary etc.
I also use Tend Skin (http://www.tendskin.com/) a couple of days before the appointment and for about 10-14 days after. It keeps all ingrown hair at bay and helps with any "pimpling". I know it does hurt..especially the first few times but honestly once you get past those times it really does get easier as the root weakens.

Oh I have a question. I started getting a regular bikini wax (every 2-3 weeks actually) but the re-growth grosses me out. And I swear it starts to grow back in after like 3-4 days. Does it slow down with time? I asked my estitician about it and 1) she laughed bc she thinks I am crazy for being grossed out at the re-growth and 2) said that while it can thin out, it takes a lot longer to do so than eyebrows/upper lip. Anyone know? Thanks!
