Congrats Niko!!! Troi is adorable!
My favorites picture is the one with Niko trying to give him a kiss! (Of course I love all pics with Niko he is such a cutie!).
I can't believe you only pushed for 6 minutes!! That is amazing!

You're going to have to change that siggi :D

Don't know how I could have left this out....

After I was settled in the room I called the girl with the furniture and left a message. She calls back while I'm on the phone and in her message says that's she's going to contact Brian to make arrangements to get the crib to us cause now we definately need it :eek: What, I wasn't going to definately need it before??

I called her back and told her we got the toddler bed but may need it if it doesn't work out.

She came to see us yesterday and said she'd be bringing over dinner and "lots of presents" tonight. Brian told me not to hold my breath and he'd order something. She came with dinner and a chocolate cake. Guess that was the lots of presents :/

Congratulations Lorraine and Welcome Troi!

(My second baby's birth only took 3 contractions--a little less than 10 minutes. Rachel took over 3 hours of pushing (sorry first timers!). She had a cone head! Maybe this time I can cut it to 5 minutes of pushing?:D )

Nikosmommy, Congratulations! Troi is adorable! Glad to hear that you are all doing well. I echo what everybody said which is that I hope my delivery is just as smooth! I pushed for 3 hours or so with my first and it was horrible to say the least. I really hope and pray that my second will be much easier! I love to hear stories like yours!

Well I finally will hear tomorrow whether or not I got promoted to the new job. It's crazy how in the midst of having a baby, life is continuing on. Eeek, as if I don't have enough to worry about! I have a doc appt in the morning so we'll see I'm doing. I can not tell you how many people say, "it looks like you are due TODAY" everywhere I go.

We're all getting so close!

Congrats Nikos!!! What a great looking family!

I only pushed for about 5 minutes with my first- even though labor was 18 hours prior to that. I'm hoping it doesn't go the other way for me and end up pushing for hours this time.

simplicity: Good luck with the promotion.

I'm still having contractions here and there. Luckily they're not regular like they were Saturday. However, everyone at work thinks I look like I dropped over the weekend. I just keep telling this baby, June 10th- wait until then.

Good morning all!

So much action in here over the last couple of days. I can't believe that we have four babies (and a fifth expected) already...and there's still a week left of May.

CONGRATS to Nikosmommy on the birth of Troi and SarahnCraig on the birth of Alexander and PinkConverse on the birth of Hayden. And of course Excitedbride with the birth of Savannah (our only girl so far.)

Gina ~ You are in my thoughts and prayers and hoping everything with your little one has turned out alright.

Kaeden's ~ Sorry you are going through such a rough and uncertain time right now...I would be pulling my hair out or yelling at everyone in sight in your position. Good luck!

Shaq ~ Beautiful pictures!

DS, Maryanne and Mystikal ~ Congrats on the showers...sounds like they were all great and hey, the best part is the presents (right!)

Nikosmommy ~ I'm hoping I have the six minutes versus the 3 hours...it does sound like the perfect birth.

Gaffy ~ What a great picture (I couldn't get one at my last U/S) but you can't have a baby without me...we were due date buddies...remember!

QOTD ~ I've actually been off work now for about 3 weeks...I was taken off due to high B/P and put on short term disability. Luckily it won't affect my maternity leave. My mat leave begins as soon as the baby is born and I will get one full year. And because of the STD, I will have an extra month of vacation to use after my year is up...I plan on not having to go back to work until the end of July 2007!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Me
Well, I hit 39 Weeks today...I definitely think this will be a June Baby.
I did have contractions on and off all night (kept me awake from 3:00am to 6:00am) but nothing too strong or regular. Although they were different from the contractions I get in the car or walking (which I think of as BH.)
I have a M/W appointment tonight at 6:30pm and am praying that some progress has been made. I know the baby has definitely dropped (a concern at my last appointment) as my belly has completely changed shape, but I haven't lost my plug yet. I'm crossing my fingers though!
I also haven't had my BURST OF ENERGY as my mom likes to refer to it...I realized on Sunday that I'm running out of time though, so I'm going to create the burst today eventhough I don't feel like it. I have to clean all the bathrooms, wash the kitche floor, vacuum all the carpets, clean the baseboards...etc, etc, etc! Hopefully that will help move things along too.
Anyways, going to grab some breakfast, catch another hour of sleep (DH just left for work) and then get started. Have a great day everyone and will update tonight after my appointment.
Nikosmom: Six minutes! That is incredible....and so is Troi! What a cutie. :D
Shaq: Your photos are beautiful. I love the belly but I also love how you can actually see the emotion/caring between you and your DH.
Graffy: Awesome U/S. It is hard to believe that we have full size babies stirring inside our belly, isn't it?!
MrsBrownie: So glad to hear that you are still hanging in there! I so hear you on needing that burst of energy. My house is a mess but I'm lacking the motivation to clean it. Maybe I need a maid service?
DH and I went to the Red Sox game last night. We had so much fun but I was so uncomfortable by the end of the game. I drove into town and ended up walking a looooong way to the stadium. I should have hopped on the T but I'm stubborn. We did take the T back to the car at the end of the game b/c baby had his or her foot jammed into my rib and it hurt to walk.
So, anyone else feel like a spectacle lately? I feel like my belly is so big and everyone is looking at me. DH was so super protective of me and the belly last night while walking through the crowd. It was cute...but I hate feeling vulnerable.
Oh. One more thing. DH's work surprised him with a little shower yesterday. We got the Jumperoo and some books! Presents are fun! :D
NIKOS! CONGRATS and WELCOME TROI!
Shaq: great photos...
Amurphy: Feeling like a spectacle... um yes.. I was at Bliss spa yesterday (just getting some moisturizers) and the woman says "when are you due" and I said "3 weeks" and she says "well it looks like you might have that baby any minute"... :mad: ... Gee thanks!!!
Sorry to those I missed!
great birth story Niko's and you are right. . it sounds like the perfect birth! Troi is a cutie and I love the name!
feeling like a specatcle- I'm right there with you. I was walking by my boss' office yesterday and she said "first you see the baby and 5 minutes later you get Heather." whatever. I'm not that big. it's little comments like that that drive me nuts.
I wonder how Gina is doing. . I hope everything went okay last night.
Feeling like a spectable: I definitely feel your annoyance. I feel like nothing but an incubator these days. I always tell DH how unfair it is because he can go out by himself and no one knows that he has a baby coming just by looking at him. Also being so young I get non-stop glares from old biddy snobs. I always feel like I have to wave my wedding ring and driver's license in their face.
~~~

Nothing much else here. I am going to look into that Integrated Sales Rep position today. The VP and several of the sales managers have mentioned to my boss that they want me in there. I applied for it when I was still in the warehouse and the manager I interviewed with admitted that he has been kicking himself for not hiring me before. I'm not sure if I am that interested in it but they have flexible hours and better pay. It's atleast worth looking into.

Congrats Nikosmommy!!!!:D I'm glad you had the perfect birth!!!!

feeling like a specatcleYES. :mad: I get rude comments all of the time. Especially while I'm at work. Just yesterday my boss told me to hurry out of his office cause he didn't want met giving birth in it. :rolleyes:

My due date is 3 weeks and 4 days and I'm getting soooooo over anxious. I just don't think I can wait any longer. Not that I have a choice. I went to the doctor yesterday I was told her head is down and my cervix has started to soften.

I'm starting to get really annoyed by people at work over everything. I think its hormones. I have no patience with anyone lately. I feel bad!!!!

LilmrsI get glares from old people too! I'm 25 and am told I look 18. And people always look at me funny. This guy at my work who is new acted like he felt sorry for me. He said "are your parents going to help you out with this baby? Do you have family to help you take care of it?" I was like "HUH?!? My husband will!!!!"

I'll be at the Denver office all day today and not able to watch this thread. So no one new have a baby ok!!!!:p

spectacle Yep. I definitely feel that way some times. Especially if I have my other two (very young) kids with me. People like to comment about how busy I have been. :rolleyes: Unfortunately, strangers somehow think that they have license to say all sorts of strange, rude, critical, sappy, nosy, or just plain weird things to you when you are pregnant and it doesn't stop once you have the baby(ies)!! I keep reminding myself that I don't have to tell the truth to these nosy people, right?. I can tell them I am due next week with triplets if I want to. :D

Congrats Nikos : Troi is soooo adorable. Great pics ... Wow what a great & quick birth story.

Appt update:
I have gained a total of 29.5 lbs - He did my strep B test fun fun, I am 1/2 cm dialated & he could feel her hard head as he called it - of course dh has to make a smart a- - comment about how she got that hard headedness from me ... whatever. I asked the doctor if there was any indication that she would come next week when dh is out of town & he said there is nothing that would make him think that she would come but she could actually come today if she wanted to. My BP was really high when I 1st got there so I had to lay on my left side & he checked it again 10 mins later & said it had dropped 30 points ... 1st time it was 135/90 somthing ... 2nd time 120/70 - he told me I needed to get more rest. Yah right how is that supposed to happen?

Taraw: Good to "see" you. I've been wondering how things are going with you. Are they monitoring you any closer for the 2 vessel cord? My doc's office hasn't done anything other than a few extra ultrasounds at this point.

spectacle: Sometimes yes. Mostly I'm just annoyed at some close friends who always find it necessary to comment on how huge I am. Most of the time I don't care if someone comments that I look like I could deliver any time- I guess I could. It's the people that are close to me that bother me the most. I almost feel like they should be telling me how great I look (even if they're lying) instead of commenting on how tired I look and how big I'm getting. It just seems inconsiderate.

Update on hospital visit:
Nothing much to report actually. Routine stuff. Baby's heartbeat is good, BP is good. Next appt is on 5/31.

Just wanted to say congrats to nikosmommy...or should we call you nikoandtroismommy? What a beautiful (and encouraging) birth story. Troi is adorable and the shots of all your "boys" together are just great. Love the name BTW. That's my fave of the bunch!

Also to all of the other new moms -- I am WAY behind on this thread -- congrats to you as well. I can't get over how many June babies are coming in May. This is the home stretch ladies!

shaqs what beautiful photos of you & your DH. I agree with the PP that said you could really see the love between you and your hubby. so sweet...

graffythansk for sharing that Us. that is simply amazing!

Quick update:

work This Thursday is my last day and then I'm on leave. Not sure if I'm co9mign back either. Like ryan I am really looking forward to not having to commute 1.5 hrs. each way by train! Although I will really really miss my colleagues, and even some of the nicer clients.

spectacle I'm the oddity. I think all of the attention is sort of nice. After all, once the baby is born nobody will notice us, ha ha. Seriously, I do feel huge and it makes me laugh when other people tell me I look like I'm ready to go or "can you waddle down to my office for a meeting?" - all in good fun. if they meant it maliciously, then that's a whole 'nother story!

quick vent. .

why do people have to comment on the food I am putting in my mouth???? we had a party yesterday. . A PARTY. . . and I had a small piece of cake and one chocolate chip cookie. our paralegal here made a comment then which I didn't appreciate and then today I just walked into the cafeteria to get my steamed veggie lunch and the same woman yelled at the top of her lungs- hey there cookie monster. or should I call you cake monster! they have plenty of cookies and cake here for you to get your fill!!! I just gave her the dirtiest look I could muster and walked out (waddled out) with all my veggies. augh. . it's not like I have gained a ton. . everyone keeps telling me how great I look and how they can't believe I haven't gained more in other places. how can she not know how rude that is???? you would think that at 9 months, I should be able to eat what I want. and what I did eat wasn't even that bad!!!

okay. . thanks for listening.

LOL....I went through that after Connor was born... 7 days after he was born, he was still in the NICU. That day, DH and I decided to spend a couple hours at the mall to buy a few more things we needed for Connor at home plus just get away from all the craziness of the hospital. While walking through the mall, I wanted to cry. There I was, not pg anymore. I didn't look pg anymore -- just VERY lumpy, like I've been eating too many Krispy Kremes -- and I wasn't pushing a baby stroller with my newborn in it. I just looked like a normal person to whom nothing special had happened to lately. I really wanted to scream: "I AM a mommy. I HAVE a newborn... He just can't be here with us right now!"

Shoulda- I actually get the complete opposite reaction to treats at work. We have like 6-7 different departments here and it seems like there is always some sort of meeting or celebration that includes treats and I always get them delivered to me up front. They insist that I eat the jusk. Half the time I have to give it to DH.

I also get a ton of the HUGE:eek: :eek: :eek: comments. Luckily I can now say "Just a couple more weeks!" I had one guy tell me last week that he saw a girl pregnant with twins due next month that was smaller than me. Thanks!! In my head she is 5'10 and getting induced the last day of next month at 34 weeks. I am atleast 7-8 weeks ahead of her. Again... that's just my theory.

It is so nice to hear that I'm not the only one feeling like a spectacle. I was so proudly sporting my belly until just a few weeks ago but now that I've dropped and continued to get bigger, I feel like a big target for strangers' stares and comments. Luckily, I haven't had to deal with some of the rude comments some of you have heard. What the H is wrong with people?!?! I'm really hoping that I'm just in a slump and will soon be proud of my baby belly again. I think I'm in need of positive comments--a few of those could get me back in the right mindset. It's about time for me to send my Mom, sister, and best friend some updated belly pictures anyway....;)

DH keeps telling me that the worse I feel, the better the baby must be growing. whatever. . he's not the one feeling like crap! only 28 days left but man, that sounds like a long time!

Just a quick post, although I do lurk and keep up on all the news!:D

First,Congratulations to all the new mommies and babies! Most of them were due around my due date, which makes it very real!!! And also good luck to those having their babies in the next few days!!

I had an OB appt today, and my OB said he felt the head down, but wanted to do a quick US to be sure. Lo and behold- the baby is not head down, but breech right now!!! So he said I had 2 options- I could have an inversion (?) done next week, where they would try to manually turn the baby, or just wait and see if it turn on its own before I go into labor. He said it was a slim chance that it would turn on its own, and obviously if it stays breech it would mean a C-section. He said his gut feeling was that trying to turn the baby wouldn't be that sucessful, as the baby is good sized and doesn't seem to be an excess of fluid. He said the procedure had to be done at L&D in case something happened and I went into labor, and when I asked if it was painful, he said that some women find it "uncomfortable"
Has anyone had this done? Is it painful? It hurts to me when he's pushing hard trying to feel the baby, so I can't imagine its not, but I wanted to know if anyone had had this done. If the baby doesn't turn, I'll get a C-section at about 39 weeks, unless I go into labor before that on my own!

Yikes- time is ticking!

kmmommy
05-23-2006, 12:55 PM
jcharley ~ Sorry the baby is breech. I haven't had a version (trying to turn the baby) done, but have heard about many others' experiences. I've heard it is quite painful and rarely works. Try searching for a thread on CC or else start a new one as I'm sure many women would have an experience and/or helpful thoughts and advice for you. Good luck!

Shaq – the pics are great

Shoulda – that was a pretty rude comment

Spectacle – so far most people have said that they can not believe I still have 4 weeks left and then compliment me on how great I look. Well today, some woman actually said that she thought I was only 6 months pregnant. When I told her I had only 4 weeks to go she then told me that I look great. I just love hearing that.

Feeling like crap – I have to say that once I get out of the bed and get moving I feel great. Those first steps out of bed are a killer until I get my hips moving. I sometimes just lean forward on the bed and sway my hips side to side to warm them up. Other than that, I’m practically pain free. I’m still surprised that I’m not experiencing lower back pain. I do get heartburn more now. The worse part for me is being in bed because it is hard to move around.

Well I had my prenatal this morning and my BP is still up. It amazes me how it immediately drops as soon as I lay on my left side. I’ve been getting it checked daily at work and showed the numbers to my doctor. They are a little better than what they get in the office after I run in from the car, but they are still on the high side. My platelet count came back a little low last week so I had it done again today. The doctor has cut my office hours from 8hrs to 4hrs. He said I can choose to work the remaining 4hrs from home. My boss is out this week so that discussion will have to wait. He is pretty flexible so working from home should not be an issue.

Inversion – never had it done, but a friend did and she said it is painful. She had bruises afterward and the baby immediately flipped back to breech afterward.

Lil_Mrs_0702
05-23-2006, 01:34 PM
JCharley- Sorry that the baby is breech. I think Nikosmommy had an old trick for flipping the baby. There is also a thread here in pregnancy about breech babies and inversion. I'll look for it after lunch and bump it for ya if you don't find it before then.

Uncomfortable/Crappiness- I have my moments. I feel like I am still doing good for how far along I am but admit even in this past week I have gotten a lot more uncomfortable.

DH today- He came up front while I was having a contraction and I told him that I have like 2-3 an hour and it's just my body warming up and not to worry. He tells me that I smashing him with my pants and I should go home and lie around in my underwear. He is so cute. He thinks whenever something is touching my belly that the baby is being suffocated and needs more room.

Taraw: Good to "see" you. I've been wondering how things are going with you. Are they monitoring you any closer for the 2 vessel cord? My doc's office hasn't done anything other than a few extra ultrasounds at this point.
jay&erinn good to "see" you too! I have been going for weekly ultra-sounds for quite some time now to monitor the baby's growth. The funny thing is that the baby is measuring quite larger than average. I guess with the 2 vessel cord it can be common for the baby to not grow as much but I am experiencing the opposite. Last Thursday I had an ultra-sound and they estimated the baby to be 8 lbs 7 oz with 3 more weeks to go. I know that these ultra-sounds can be way off, so I am trying not to get too worked up about having a huge baby! But everything looks good so far, thank God! I was already dilated to 3 cm last Thursday so I keep hoping that I will have this baby early, I am so ready. How are things going for you? Everything has looked good on the extra ultra-sounds you have had?

jcharley I haven't had any experience with a version myself, but my SIL had one done. Unfortunately, it wasn't successful. My baby was breach up until a few weeks ago. Once I found out the baby was breach I started seeing a Chiropractor for adjustments. He said that my hips were in need of alignment. After a couple of adjustments from him the baby turned. It might be worth a shot for you to try a chiro.

is anyone else just feeling like crap now that we are almost done?
YES!I'm so tired. I just can't get comfy when I go to sleep. I can't get comfy anywhere actually. Its terrible. I'm so congested. My throat is burning. I think I'm coming down with something. My fingers and feet are swollen. I ache everywhere. This no sleeping thing is really really getting to me. I just want 1 good night sleep. Getting out of bed is so hard cause I ache so bad. I'm always hot. And I have to pee every 10 minutes it seems.

jay&erinn
05-23-2006, 02:37 PM
taraw: Gald the baby is doing so well despite the 2 vessel cord. This one appears to be growing well too. My last ultrasound was around 32/33 weeks and the baby was measuring almost 4 pounds. Mia was only 6lb 11oz full term, so this baby could be larger also. I'm glad we're both growing big babies despite the cord problem. I'll only have further testing if the baby appears to have stopped growing (I stop gaining weight or start measuring small)
3 cm already:eek: . I have my first internal the end of next week, so we'll see where I am. I'm not ready to have this baby yet though- I need another 2.5 weeks and then the baby can come whenever.
What does your DD think of all of this? I think her and Mia are close to the same age- Mia will be 3 the end of September.

version: I think they give epidurals to some women for them. I've also heard the success rate is pretty small. A friend of mine went swimming/floating (how much real swimming can you do 9 months pregnant?) and her baby turned- they think it was the water helping her belly float a little more (less gravity pulling down on the baby). Something to try- especially if it's getting hot where you are.

Feeling like crap- I feel like crap almost the entire pregnancy. It's actually getting a little better as I get toward the end (the same thing happened when I was pregnant with Mia). Other than some back pain, the occasional contractions and having to pee all the time, I'm doing pretty well. If only I could eat something other than protein, veggies and fruit, I'd be a happy camper.

DH keeps telling me that the worse I feel, the better the baby must be growing.
Yea- tell him to grow a baby and then we'll see what he thinks about that theory;)
I asked DH the other day to just be pregnant for the next week. I just need a week off and then I'll be more than willing to finish it out.

5:25 p.m.

Last Monday, after a long day of shopping I went up to the baby's room to get started putting some things together for him, nothing like waiting til the last minute to do something you should have been working on for 8 months. I was in his closet when I felt like I really had to pee, then I felt a tiny gush. I went to the bathroom and there was clear, slightly bloody water leaking out of me. The first thing I though was my water broke, but I was in denial. I figured it was just some other kind of fluid or something. I call my Dh nonetheless and he says he's on his way home and to call the Dr. By the time the on call Dr. called me back I was sitting on the toilet continuously leaking slowly. He said it sounded like my water had broke, to come into Labor and Delivery just in case and they would be expecting me. Now mind you my bag was not packed, I had not even purchased most of the items I wanted to take to the hospital yet. Dh gets home and I shower and change and stuff the only thing I had that was absorbent down my undies, it was a thin disposable changing table pad. I grabbed a pair of socks and stuffed them in my purse for when I had to change into a gown and we were off. Both still in denial over the whole thing...

We get to the hospital and walk up to L&D and wait a few minutes for a room. They have me put on a gown and get into bed. The nurse said unless my water broke in front of her I had to take some test to see if it was really amniotic fluid. I scoot down in the bed to take the test and more gushed out, she said at that point there was no need for the test. I was being admitted. My Dr. was not on call but I figured I would be in labor so long with a first baby that he would be there in time for the delivery.

8:30 pm

I meet the Dr. on call and he checks me and the rest of the bag of waters breaks, I'm 4 cm dilated and it's only been a couple of hours since my water broke. The internal hurt really badly! I'm told I won't be in active labor for atleast 12 hours. At some point my DH leaves to gather a few items from the house for me. At that point I am with my sister and my stepdad and mom also show up. I insist no one has to since I won't have this baby for HOURS but people show anyway. My dad and best friend were still waiting to come at that point.

I don't remember the timeline right now but at some point the nurse tries to put in an iv and fails miserably oh, about 4 or 5 times!!!! She couldn't find a vein and blew out two of them. She calls in another nurse who refuses to even try to poke me again and they send for the anesthesiologist to try to get one in. He comes in and starts poking around and about 4 tries later finds one in a really stupid, uncomfortable place. After his first attempt he starts injecting me with a local every time before he pokes me so I don't feel it :rolleyes: so I got double poked. At one point I looked at my left arm and there were 3 iv needles hanging out of it. It was a nightmare. I said this never happens on a Baby Story, this is more like a Horror Story which got some laughs.

Some time around 11 pm I ask for some pain relief so I can sleep and Nubain is administered.

To be continued in the next post.

So the Nubain really isn't working and all of the sudden I start getting HORRENDOUS contractions back to back to back. I was writhing the bed in pain and saying how bad it hurt. I didn't want to be touched by anyone, at that point I said I needed an epidural now. Apparently that belt they use to monitor contractions kept not working and I don't think anyone really believed I was having bad contractions like that all of the sudden. I was like one of those laides on TV screaming where is that anestheiologist, he has to HURRY! He comes in around 1 am I guess and says how much easier it's going to be getting my epi after what I just went thru with the iv's. NOT SO! I was hanging all over the nurse, having contractions, trying to breathe thru the pain and he's like am I hurting you or is it the contractions and I told him it was mostly the contractions. TWO TRIES LATER I HAVE THE EPIDURAL. The nurse goes to check me and says I am 10 cm dialated, I got that epi just in time. She said I can't get you started pushing at all, your baby feels really low. She calls in the Dr. at 1:36 am and lots of nurses and who knows who else fill up the room and they prep everything. The Dr. comes in and everyone is amazed how quickly everything is going for me since it was my first baby.

The nurse tells me I will breathe once and them push hard, three times with every contraction. I curl myself around the baby, like they do on a Baby Story, ha and start pushing like crazy. The see a head after one push and it's full of hair, which gives the motivation to get him out. 2 contractions and 6 pushes later he's here, it's 1:56 am! Everyone told me how easy I made it look. I couldn't feel a thing because of the epi which was great. No one held my hand or anything during the pushing, I was just focusing on getting him out! My Dh felt so bad but he could tell I was just focused. He cried a little when he was born. Suprisingly I did not. I was just in such shock over everything. Dh, my mom and best friend were all in the room for the delivery. Having a baby erases all your shame! I'm very bashful and I was not embarrassed at all thru the whole thing. Everything happened so quick they di dnot even ask DH if he wanted to cut the cord, the Dr. just did it and the hurried the baby over to the warmer. I heard them announce 4 14 and I said what is that? The time? I was so out of it and could not believe it was his weight. I was expecting atleast a 6 pounder according to all the Dr.'s! I had a second degree tear and God knows how many stitches. The baby was pretty much taken to the nursery right away because of his size and I did not see him again for about 4 hours. I'm going to temporarily post some pics which I will later delete. Please do not repost them threadmistres. Thanks.

Not much going on here. I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow. Still no regular contractions. Lots more cervix pain, so I still feel like *something* is happening. I've been trying to keep myself busy, but I'm just so tired all the time. I did make a tag blanket for Samantha last night/this morning, and that was fun. I'm preparing to make another one for our friends who are due mid-June.

Shamocha-He went home in something else. I had to bring him home in clothes that people brought up to the hospital since he had no preemie clothes, obviously.

We didn't get his prof. pics taken at the hospital because the nursery kept taking him, trying to regulate his temp so we could never coordinate it :(. Oh well.

34 weeks

I also had an appt today Just a short one, but I got a definite, *hmmmmm* when the nurse took my blood pressure. Everything else measured and sounded fine. The doc didn't say anything about my bp until I was about to leave and then he said that he wanted to see me next week to check it again. At all of the other appts, I have been fine. On the way to this appointment , there was a major traffic delay and unmarked detour that had me growling as I wandered thru backstreets LOST. I hate being late. I am thinking /hoping that that is why it was so high?!?!?

Josh just found out that his office is going to throw us a shower! So, I have gone from thinking that no one was going to do anything -to having three! Pretty crazy, huh? I think that it is going to be a lunch at a restaurant with his division and then back to the office for cake and presents.

Love the birth stories and the baby pictures! So adorable!! :D

Had my 35 week appt today and my blood pressure was up - 132/86. They didn't seem too worried, but I wasn't surprised with everything that's going on at work. I got reprimanded because I lost another pound, which puts my total weight gain at 20 pounds. I told them I don't know why I'm losing - I feel like I eat all day. :confused: My next OB appointment is May 30 and they'll do my first internal and the strep test at that time. I got my pre-registration paperwork today so I have to take that back tomorrow morning and get that all squared away.

Feeling like a spectacle Yes!! I dread walking down the hallway at work because I know I'm going to be stopped by a bajillion people and be asked when I'm due. When I tell them how much longer they say "those will be the longest five weeks of your life!" When I tell them I'm fine and that I've been lucky they feel the need to make a negative comment on that, as well, like "your last week will be hell." Gee, thanks. :rolleyes:

Feeling like crap nope. Like I said, I've been lucky. Last night I actually slept from 11:30-6:15 without waking up once!!! Usually I'm up two to three times a night to pee, and when I woke up this morning and my bladder felt like it was going to explode I couldn't remember if I had gotten up at all in the middle of the night. I was so out of it. It was nice to sleep all night long.

Work I was originally planning on working until I went into labor, but now I'm thinking I might just go until my OB's EDD. With all the bullsh*t that's going on I just don't want to be there anymore.

pink Congratulations and thanks for the birth story and pics. He is amazing!

simplicity Good luck!

Feeling like a spectacle I have def. noticed people staring at me. No one has tried to touch me, though.

Feeling like crap I'm still feeling really good. I mean, it's hard to bend over and to do certain things. I sometimes need a nap, but overall it's not that bad. I'm sleeping well and not even getting up to go to the bathroom that often. Every few nights I might have to get up to pee, but mostly I sleep right thru. The baby has dropped some, so I can breathe easier and my massive heartburn is MUCH better. Because I can breathe easier, I can get into more comfortable sleeping positions. Hope you guys that are feeling crappy get some relief soon.

I had a baby care class tonite. Tommorrow night is called Doctor's Night. An OB/GYN, an anestheologist, and a pediatrician will speak, then we have a tour of the Maternity Center. DH gets to meet George W. Bush tommorrow. He's coming to the power plant where DH works. I'm not a fan, but it's once in a lifetime to meet the President, so it's still exciting. I have my 36 week doctor's appt. on Thurs.

Awww, you are such a wonderful group of ladies! Thank you so much for your support.

Well as it turns out, I haven't progressed since this morning so I was discharged from the hospital. I'm still at 4cm contracting here and there but not regularly enough to be kept overnight. I have a doc appt scheduled for next Tuesday but we are certain that the baby will make his dramatic arrival in the next few days. Now that we've gone to the hospital, I feel better organized and prepared for the big day.

I am really excited about my promotion! Although I am going to take as much time off as possible during my maternity leave, I am also looking forward to starting in my new role at work as a supervisor for mental health staff. It will definitely be a time of transition for me when I return to work.

ds I started losing my plug almost exactly a week before each birth. It seemed to come out over the course of a day and was somewhat bloody. Apparently, it can regenerate though so I didn't put too much hope on it at the time (I was already 39+ both times!). I remember on woman on WC who had a baby about the same time as me in 2003 who lost her plug almost a month before birth. I hope this (at the least!) means you won't go overdue!!!!

That's pretty much how I'm feeling lately.

First, congrats to Pink again, the pictures and birth story are amazing. Congrats to Simlicity on the job and hopefully having a baby soon.

Any word on Gina ~ I've been thinking about her constantly and hoping everything is going alright with her little one!

Well, I'm still PG and feeling VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. I'm so envious of all these people who are making progress...cause I'm not.

I shouldn't say I'm not. Unfortunately, I didn't get an internal at my appointment yesterday. My M/W ended up going home sick and I saw a different one in the practice. She said she doesn't do internals until 40 weeks, so she didn't do one. Everything else looked fine, BP was 120/80, H/B was 130-140, weight was the same, no protein in my urine...the nicest thing she said to me was that she did think he was engaged.

I know that the baby has dropped, cause I can feel it. But I'm having the opposite reaction to relief you are supposed to get. My heartburn has increased, my movements are alot slower (and hurt more) And I'm still peeing like crazy.

My next appointment is May 30th...which is my due date. They weren't going to be able to give me an appointment, but when I told her it was my due date and I really wanted to see my regular M/W (for that internal) she fit me in during their lunch hour. So hopefully baby either comes by next Tuesday, or there is some progress.

I could potentially be PG for another 3 weeks...how crazy/awful does that sound (I'm ready to be done!)

I haven't lost my plug yet either...DS DH and I DTD last night and although it was uncomfortable, I grinned and beared it (I know, terrible to say, but I wasn't feeling it and he sprung it one me...literally) in hopes it would help move things along. I think we are going to try again tonight, as DH would like the baby to come Thurs or Friday...as he doesn't want to go to a big meeting they are having at work (Nice eh?)

Anyways, enough out of me. Congrats to everyone, good luck to everyone and hopefully we will see some more babies soon (like mine!)

BTW ~ Amurphy I spent the entire day yesterday cleaning the top floor of my house, I scrubbed the bathrooms down and even hand washed both tile floors...it was a forced 'burst of energy' but I'm paying for it today. My body is aching, especially my fingers. No work for me today, but tomorrow I have to do the main floor. UGHHH!

Mrs_Brownie - I hope DTD helps you because I sure hope it helps me. I really don’t want to go early, but if it prevents an induction due to my BP then I am all for it. I need more of that natural cervix softener so I may have to jump DH again tonight.

Lawyerwifebride – I can’t “allow” the baby to come in a weeks time. I have a June 9th deadline that I’m trying to meet. I was doing some squats last night and then when I got up I noticed this big globby, snotty looking thing (I know…TMI). I figured that had to be it, but was surprised there was no blood so I Googled it.

Off to get my BP checked.

Congrats on the promotion Simplicity!! Hope that baby is out of there soon and in your arms!!

DS- Hoping that the baby comes for you soon as well. Strange question... What was the plug like? I am having some spotting this morning and noticed that there is some other wetness included but it doesn't seem mucousy. Maybe that's later?? If it is my plug let's hope that gives me one more week like lawyerwifemom had. My replacement temp doesn't get in until Tuesday and my OB's wife is due this week. I am hoping and praying we don't go into labor too close together because I don't want someone else delivering my baby!!

Well I go in for my interview in about 1/2 an hour. Let's hope this is the last one for a long time.

Oh- I took pics of the scrap book pages that I made from some paper my mom had laying around and the gift bags and cards from the showers. They are from photobucket so they are HUGE! They are in the last page of my journal if you want to check it out.

I saw my doctor today for my weekly appointment. Today was supposed to be induction day but oh well.

My BP was 124/72 and her h/b was in the 140s. I lost another pound which is strange since I'm starting to retain more water and notice more swelling. My Group B strep came back negative - it was positive with DS - so that's a piece of good news. Still no more progress so I'm 1 1/2 cm dilated and baby is still up high. Induction is set for June 2nd at 6:30am if I don't go before that. I'm pretty confident I'll make it to my induction which is okay with me - she'll be 8 days early then and the doctor should be back from vacation to treat her if necessary.

Other than that not much is new. I'm anxious to hear about more babies coming!

Kaeden's Mommy Thanks for checking on me. I'm trying to read along, but as you guessed I'm too tired at night to do much posting. I'm still here and still pregnant. Friday is my last day of work and I'm really looking forward to a few days of rest. Hopefully labor will hold out until at least the weekend.

I'm 37w, 5d now and the baby is definitely very low these days and making me feel quite uncomfortable at times. I had a MW appt yesterday and everything is looking great. She doesn't do internals until labor, so I don't know if I have any dilation or effacement yet, but I wouldn't be surprised. I think this boy is trying to stick his hand through my cervix from how it feels.

We are slowly but surely gettting ready for this baby. I finally got some clothes washed, bought some diapers and we got the carseat out last night. I'm glad we got it out early because it was all nasty (guess we didn't clean it after DD finished with it) but it is all clean and ready to go now. It's amazing how much more relaxed I am the second time around.

Huge congrats to those of you who have already had your babies!! I'm getting very excited.

Hi everyone! had my 36 week (and 2 day) appt. today...

- Weight up 2 lbs. (now am officially my highest weight ever) for a total gain of 24 lbs.
- Blood pressure is fine
- Dawson is still heads down and now "very low"
- His HB was 140
- Not sure what I'm measuring at - I forgot to ask when she did the measurement
- GOOD NEWS!! I tested negative for Group B Strep!! I won't need an IV of antibiotics unless I run a fever while in labour!! :)

Dr. said she hopes that baby stays put for another 5 days (to bring me to Full Term, but that I really could go at any time now given my track record from the past month and the fact that I've continued to have more contrax over the past 3 weeks. So we shall see... (of COURSE this means I'll be pg straight through until a 42 week induction on July 3rd. LOL!)

Hope everyone is doing well!!!

ds It definitely sounds like your plug!! I hope you make it to June 9, but you may not . . . .:)

lilmrs good luck! I think the plug is one of those really variable signs of labor. Some women don't lose it until they are in active labor and some lose it far ahead of time. At the least it means your cervix is progressing toward labor and opening enough to let the plug go! I've been having some heavier. mucousy discharge, but not the big ole glob-o-snot that is unmistakeably the plug.

Orange when did you deliver your first? did you go early? I hope you get a few days of rest after stopping work. You reminded me, I should get the car seat out of the attic. It is wrapping in clear plastic, but I should make sure it is really ready to go!

Connorsmommy we cross posted. I am glad to hear all is well. I too hope you hold out til full term. Specifically June 1!!! (my guess in your LJ) ;)

I have my 36 week appointment tomorrow morning and will get my GBS test then.

Hi to everyone else!

Simplicity: Good luck

With all these babies I get so excitied to log on in the morning to read what I missed... it is like Christmas morning... :)

Me: tired and had a frustrating day at the dr. nothing new to report but wanted to say HI to everyone!!

Sorry I missed some of you....

So not sure how I did in the interview. I started having contractions and I was trying to hide it, I think instead I just looked completely incompetent. I would just stare at the wall for a second and ramble!! Oh and I also found out that I only get 6 weeks of maternity leave!!! Yeah that threw me in for a shocker during the interview.

I don't know so I guess they have a ton of interviews this week and I should hear back next week.
~~~
Thanks lawyer for the information about the plug. I'm guessing it wasn't the plug and it is probably just my placenta shifting like before.
Connorsmommy- Glad the appointment went well. I have heard (old nurses tale) that a loss of a couple pounds is usually an indicator that labor is within a couple of days.
JenB- For me the contractions are like poop/constipation cramps mixed and some are stronger and feel like someone socked me in the gut and I double over. The first couple of times I got them I went to the bathroom to see if I needed to go. Of course that is how menstrual cramps feel for me too.
lawyerwifemom - thanks for the confirmation. I really wasn't expecting to lose it before labor. Oh well.
lil_mrs - lawyerwifemom pretty much said it. For me it looked like a big glob of snot. i hope things went well for the interview.
Glad the appts are going well for everyone even if you are losing weight. I wouldn't mind losing a pound or 2 for my next app. :o)
I stopped by BRU on my way home and picked up some receiving blankets. I picked up to packages of 4 each. I know these things are multi-purpose, so how many do I really need?????
ds I like the big, thick blankets that I used for swaddling, nursing in public and laying the baby on the carpet. The thinner ones never got that much use in our house except at burp cloths! This will be my first warm weather baby so I have gotten a couple lighter weight blankets, but they are still the giant ones that are big enough for swaddling the baby. I agree with Kaeden'smommy that you likely have plenty!
You and I share a due date so I am anxiously awaiting news of your labor. It is exciting to think you might go soon! (But I know you want to get to at least 37 weeks as do I)
kaeden's I'm glad to hear your appointment went well. I'm sure it was a bit anticlimatic to *just* have an appointment on what you thought was your induction day! But your plan going forward sounds well thought out by you and the medical team.
Yesterday was the first day I had any significant swelling in my hands and ankles. I had HORRIBLE swelling at the end of my second pg. And high bp. So I am hoping that this was just *normal* end of pg swelling. I have an appointment tomorrow and I'm hoping my bp is still pretty low. The only part of my second labor that I would change is the magnesium sulfate drip I had to have to bring my bp down (it was 165/102) That stuff is awful but luckily I didn't have to have it at a high dose and it was only uncomfortable at the beginning as they were giving the starter dose (bolus).
receiving blankets: I think it depends on what type of kiddo you have. Mia spit up a lot, so we went through many of them. I was glad to have a surplus or I would have been doing laundry every day. We kept one on the pack n play changing table, and used the rest for after feedings. Those little burp clothes just aren't big enough if you have a spitter.
The same goes for wash clothes. I would never have thought I would use so many. Once we started solid food, we kept a big pile of them in the kitchen with her bibs and used those to help clean her up. It cut down on paper towels since there were some meals we needed to use 2 or 3 to clean her up well (mainly after spaghetti).
sunshine: I keep looking at my schedule to see when it'd be good to go into labor:rolleyes: There are a few patients I would like to get rid of temporarily and would like my temp to have to deal with.
lawyerwifemom: I'm just now starting to get some swelling too. I woke up this morning and couldn't budge my rings. It's gone down quite a bit during the day, but I'm thinking I need to take my wedding rings off soon:(
I'd just keep a few receiving blankets around until you decide what kind you like. I never used them for nursing but we did a LOT of swaddling, and in our climate the stretchy waffle weave ones were perfect. All the cute and very soft/ fluffy ones that I thought I would love, never got used.
Hello All :D
Sorry, no time for s.o.'s :/
Things are going ok. Little man is down 11 oz from birth so I've been ordered to nurse every 3 hours, even during the night. He did nurse a ton today so maybe we're making up for it.
My milk is in, and there is a ton. My breasts have doubled the pre-pg 38G size. I'm going to get new nursing bra's hopefully this weekend cause the ones I had from Niko that fit during the pg no longer fit :/
Sis is here with mom. If mom gives me one more piece of advice like I don't have a child, I will scream. I actually did say to her, I did this once before so I'm good. I know it's burning her up inside.
Nikolas is doing good with his brother. Jealousy hasn't set in too bad yet, but then again my sis and mom are showering him with attention. Brian was holding Troi and Nikolas said "get down" to him :/ Then today I was nursing and he wanted me to read to him. So we sat on the couch and he sat next to me.
He was good and then saw Troi's feet and started saying "stinkies, stinkies" so we were all good. He also asks for him and looks depressed that he's sleeping and doesn't want to play.
If this is the worst, then we're good.
Well I'm off to take a shower and then wake Troi up to eat. This 3 hour thing is going to kill me tonight.
Try to be back soon.
you know you're hugely pregnant when you can hardly eat anything for dinner... We went to Tony Roma's for MIL's Bday today. All I ordered two sides.... and took a tiny sliver of DH's ribs (two small ones). I couldn't even finish my sides -- and finishing the little bit of meat on the two ribs was almost too much for me.
Crazy!!
Just checking in with everyone! I had an appt on Friday and everything was fine, except my GBS came back +. Oh well. Might as well use that IV I'll be stuck with! :rolleyes: I have another appt May 30 when I will have an u/s to check the baby's size and make sure he is still deliverable, which I know he will be since I don't think I (or he) is that big, then I have my NST, then an OB appt. Whew! That will be a crazy day! Wednesday is my last day of work so I am super excited about that!
My hips are incredibly uncomfy all the time now, so I have been sitting on my birthing ball more often and that seems to help. Hope that means something is going to happen soon! I am 60% effaced but not dilated at all.
Tonite was our last Lamaze class. It wasn't really worth the $40 but it was fun to interact with other couples who were going through the same thing, and some of the videos were helpful. Otherwise, I'd suggest skipping it. :rolleyes:
Hope everyone is doing well and getting ready for their big day!
Jen B - It's definitely possible it could be contractions. I would monitor them for a few hours. If they seems like they are coming on more frequently and more painful, then you're more than likely going into labor. If they don't last long, it might just be Braxton Hicks.
DS- I think 8 is plenty, too. Since the weather is a little warmer, the thin ones work best, especially for swaddling. We probably have about 15 and I'm selling a few that we never used and are still in the package. :/ It's nice to have them on supply so you don't have to do much laundry.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Random Stuff:
-Baby has been very active these past few hours and I'm feeling a lot of pressure down there. I really hope he holds out for a few more days. We are supposed to be having a garage sale this weekend, so that we can get rid of all our junk before the move. Hopefully the baby will wait a while before he makes his grand entrance.

- Got my Medela PISA in the mail yesterday. Yipeee! I can't believe I'm THIS excited over a breastpump...LOL! I also have an Ameda, but am planning to sell it on craigslist (w/o the horns ofcourse). It's still a good pump, but I wanted to give the PISA a try, too.

- Have an ultrasound appt tomorrow morning at 10am. Hopefully they can tell how big the baby is now. The dr. thinks the baby is already at 7lbs. :eek:

Thanks for the receiving blanket advice. I bought the largest thin ones I could find. They are 30x40”. I took them out of the packages yesterday to put in the hamper and they look large enough for swaddling. It would be nice if BRU carried solid colored receiving blankets. I really don’t like printed babyish ones. I ended up buying these ducky ones since they were on clearance. I figured if I have to choose between ugly and ugly I might as well get the ones on clearance. I plan to go back to BRU tomorrow and visit Target with my returns in hand.

Shamocha – I get excited over my breast pump too. MIL bought me the Avent Duo and I just got a used PIS from a friend. I really want to use the Avent since I’m hoping that baby will take the Avent bottles, but the PIS cost nothing other than replacing the horns. I’m still not sure I’m even comfortable using a used pump so the Avent may win by default.

BabyLust – I have my GBS done next week. I’ve heard having the antibiotic isn’t that bad since you don’t have to stay connected to the IV (at least at my hospital you don’t).

Hugely pregnant – I know because my thighs are always hitting my belly when I walk up the stairs. I’m also getting stretch marks on the lower part of my belly. I still have no problem with food.

Another person that we have not heard from in a while is Astrdec.

I'm feeling really crampy this morning. Feels like menstrual cramps. Ugh.

I had my 36 week appointment last night. The doctor was happy to see that my PUPP rash has calmed down a lot since last week. Blood pressure was good but weight was up by 3 lbs.--attributed to swelling. I had a busy day yesterday at work and only had my feet up for about an hour of the day. Had the GBS done and an internal. Still closed up but doctor said I had two contractions during the exam and when she was listening to the baby's hb.

She offered to cut my work hours again. I might take her up on it next week or the week after. Working at least 1/2 my day at home would be ideal (and prepare my editorial team for how things will work once I'm back from maternity leave).

Here are my belly shots from yesterday. Notice the ever-dropping belly! :eek:

Amurphy – cutting your hours back isn’t so bad. I didn’t have a choice. It is nice being able to work from home so I don’t have to use any of my sick leave. I’ll check out your belly pic once I get home.

Sometimes I feel like my belly has dropped and then other times I feel little man up under my right boob. Maybe he is stretching or is just very mobile. DH and I DTD again last night. I’m hoping it will slowly do the trick. Just give me 2 more weeks and I’ll be fine. DH must be on cloud 9 because he hasn’t gotten this much action since TTC days.

ds2003, I can't remember if I mentioned this here before or not, but I don't think it is necessary to use the Avent pump with Avent bottles. I used the PIS for my DD and Avent bottles. I just pumped into the PIS bottles and then transferred the milk to bottles or bags when I got home. I found that I never filled a bottle exactly anyway, so it was easier to just combine it later. I have to review my milk storage rules but I think you're not supposed to add freshly pumped milk to chilled milk (not sure why) so I would just pump whatever I could into the PIS bottles, combine the two bottles from one session, and then use different bottles for the next pumping and only combine when it was all chilled.

I'm pretty sure that there is a conversion kit available to pump from the PIS directly into the Avent bottles so you could still do that if you really want.

Baby dropping- Collin has definitely dropped quite a bit but he is so big that he can stretch from my ribs to my the very bottom of my pelvis. I am so confused on how he can reach so much for such a lil guy.

Receiving Blankets- We got 3-4 packs of them as gifts. I have a one in each diaper bag, a couple at my moms, and the rest in it's basket at home. I plan to use them for burp cloths since we didn't get any of those.

Nothing else to really report. No BH or practice contractions so far today. Which makes life a little more comfortable but even my larger maternity pants are getting a little tight with this guy down so low.

congrats to all the new mothers and all the gorgeous babies we have already...cant wait to see more!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
i just got back from the doc. I lost a pound (after stressing about it last week, it was really nice to see the scales go down), blood pressure really good and i'm still 2cm and no other change. but baby is low, which is a good thing. he says i better get to walking (which i've slacked off on the past week) and in his words 'get some nookie-nookie going on!' :D he says he definitely doesnt want me to go past my due date cos i'm too small and he's afraid the baby will be too big if we wait beyond that.
so thats my update....oh we did get the nursery finished! all thats left to do is order the letters for baby's name but we'll do that after baby arrives.
have a great day....will check back later today.
Thanks Orange – I found a site that has the conversion kit for the PIS. I thought about doing that but then MIL bought the Avent pump. I want as few steps as possible so I’m trying to avoid having to pump and transfer since pumping will become part of my daily routine for the next year or so.
Right now I’m just stuck on what pump to use. The Medela has a great history and the Avent is new (in the US at least). You can find good and bad reviews for both but overall the reviews for both are good. Okay, I’ve made a decision; I’m going to just give the Avent a try. If I hate it then I buy a PISA. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to use a used pump so I’m going to give it back to my friend. What I am going to do is no open the Avent pump until I need it. After I deliver the hospital will give me a manual pump (give isn’t the right word since I’m sure it is on the bill somewhere). I found this out at the breastfeeding class on Monday. I’m not sure what pump it is, but I suspect it is a Medela manual since that is the electric pump the LCs at the hospital carry.
Shaq – congrats on getting the nursery finished. I need to get more walking in too. I’ve only gone 1 day this week.
CONGRATS-on all the beautiful new babies!!!!
Had my OB appt on Tues and am all set up to be induced on May 30th!!!!! I feel such a relief that tomorrow is my last day of work, I have the summer off and I get to meet little Chase so soon. He may even decide to come this weekend but I doubt it. So far cervix is closed up tight, may have to DTD this weekend to get in gear. Overall weight gain was 26lbs which I'm OK with. Can't wait to break out the double stroller with my 2 guys and enjoy the summer. I have found that I have been having less contractions in the past week, which is really weird. I think he wants to stay put but he's being evicted on Tuesday......can't wait!!:D
Although, I lay awake last night worrying about everything under the sun......
ds I have a manual Avent Isis and a PIS. The PIS was given to me by a friend and I bought all new tubes and horns. Since the milk never goes through anything but those tubes and horns (it never goes through the actual pump) I felt really comfortable using it. The Isis is a great pump for someone who only needs to pump occasionally. Since I travel so much, it was not enough. I haven't heard about or seen an electric Avent pump. I'll be interested to hear what you think!
shaq glad to hear your appointment went well!
Ruby that is so soon!! congratulations.
I had an appointment this morning and got the GBS test--I've been negative the last two times so I am hoping the trend holds. I have gained 3 lbs in 10 days! I am thinking some of it is due to the increase in swelling I've had the past few days (and the fact that I had just eaten breakfast). I think I am going to start watching my sodium intake a little more.
She also did an internal and I am 25% effaced and 1 cm dialated. Since ROs often have a slightly open cervix all the time, this is not really much news! Except she said the cervix is basically as soft as its gonna get.
I have been having alot more contractions the past few days. Still just BH type tightening mostly with the occasional pressury contraction as well. I had a bunch last night after we got back from our walk.
Question for those mommies who do not know the gender: I always laugh when people look at me and say "oh yeah boy" or "definately girl"... So what gender do you find most people think you are having? Apparently, since I am "carrying low and have a basketball".. .most people (90%) say I am having a boy. I am interested to hear what most of you have heard? I find it very entertaining!! :)
Good News Ruby and Good Luck!
Losing weight: I lost 1 lbs at my last appt.. and I was so excitied last week that I BLEW it this week.. up 3 lbs... but I know so much of it is water weight... my ankles are getting so huge...
DS .. I have to start figuring out what breast pump to use as well.. a few of my friends told me to wait until after the baby is born to see if I even will continue breast feeding... I do not know if that is a great idea.. but I guess we shall see..
Question for those mommies who do not know the gender: people are VERY insistent that this baby is a boy (well at least 85%) cos apparently i'm carrying low as well and its the perfect basketball shape. then on the other hand some people say i am carrying high so its a girl. i just get annoyed with some people cos they are SO ticked off that we chose not to find out the gender that they make snide comments like 'oh it doesnt matter that u dont want to know cos I know its a boy' mmmmm....maybe i should get those lottery numbers too huh!
I had my 36 week appt. today. They did the GBS test and I only gained 2 lbs. this time. My doctor estimated the baby's size at 5 lbs. 10 ozs., so I think he's going to be in there a bit longer. I'm guessing I'm going to get close to my due date. I exchanged my diaper bag today and I'm going to pack it up when I'm finished posting. I'm not having any luck finding any cute, cheap nighties for the hospital, so my bag is not ready. I thought for sure Target would have something, but they didn't. I going to get some not so cute ones that I saw at Walmart. I don't want to ruin anything good and all I have are pajama pants anyway.
Had another "postdates" hospital appointment today. The nurse said the baby seems to be really happy with where he/she is right now. She said I'll most likely make it to my original (aka REAL) due date of 6/2/06. Oh joy. I knew this would happen with the doctors moving my due date up, I'd get all excited thinking it was actually going to happen soon and then nada. *sigh*
The nurse also said we were going to have our hands full with this baby (eek), and I had enough amniotic fluid that the doctor's socks were going to get wet! Hmm...
I go back to the doc tomorrow so I guess we'll see if anything is going on with my cervix. I'm not looking forward to stepping on the scale because I've really been craving junk for the past couple weeks...
Pumps: I have an Avent Isis, and hopefully that's all I'll really need. I plan to SAH, so hopefully baby will have access to my bbs most of the time.
Q for moms who don't know gender: Oh man, telling me what I'm having seems to be a fun pasttime for a lot of people. A couple weeks ago we were ordering at a local restaurant and all the staff were waiting when we came to the counter. Someone said "we're trying to guess what you're having", and once I figured out they weren't talking about food I told them that their guesses were as good as mine. They then informed me that it was a boy. The same thing happened in the bank about 2 days later, and again, the consensus was boy. For the most part it's about 50/50 with guesses though. DH and I still think it's a girl, but I definitely wouldn't bet money...
Ruby: congrats on having an induction date set!
amurphy: in spite of the PUPPS you have about the cutest belly ever!
I took a couple belly shots today since I haven't done any since May 1st. So this is either 39 weeks or 41 weeks depending on whether you believe me or the doctor. :rolleyes:
Graffy You have a terrific looking belly. You are so small otherwise, the baby is almost bigger than you!!
guesses on baby's sex Well I have known each time but people's guesses were amusing and completely WRONG both times. With Rachel, my first, I carried straight out front with a "perfect basketball" and I really didn't gain anywhere else. EVERYONE guessed boy. With Wyatt, I carried more all over and then got really swollen toward the end. Everyone guessed girl. This time, I've gotten a few of each with a slight edge to the boy guesses. Meredith is all out front but really really low. And I swear I have gained a whole baby in the rear end this time unfortunately!!!!:(
Gina I haven't seen anything about her--does she have a journal? I have been feeling worried about her and her little guy. I hope all is well and she is just busy!
I have been having the weirdest contractions/cramps really really low in my pelvis. I was at Sam's and literally could not walk for about 30 seconds. But I could talk and breathe. It wasn't like any contraction I've every felt in my other two pgs! Weird. I've continued to have random BH contractions since then. I truly doubt these are productive at all and I fully expect to go to/past my due date, but it was really strange!
Just a quick drive by post before going home for the day.
I've been having severe menstral type cramps since yesterday morning and more discharge than normal. I dont think its my plug because its so thin and watery but my book says these are signs..People at work are saying he dropped overnight and that the pain in labor. I'm really nervous and excited and hoping that at my dr appt tomorrow at 11am CST she will say i'm dialated and keep me. I'd love to have him this weekend.
Sunshine is my birth buddy and i'll call her if anything happens, if not I'll be on tomorrow afternoon to let you all know what the scoop is.
Hugs to all!
