Hi Ryan - What a funny coincidence. We live about 1.5 hours north of NYC. Is that close to where you live too? (It would be hilarious if we were in class together!).
Nikosmommy I can't believe your baby will be here in just four days! Niko's going to be a big bro real soon. Sorry to hear about your friend. Not very nice of her! I'm tsssk, tsssking her with my finger right now. Shame on her, making a pregnant lady wait.

amurphy ~ Sorry to hear the "rash" isn't going away. Hope you feel better soon.
sarahncraig ~ Any update from sarah? I didn't see anything when I was peeking through last night but she did mention the possibility of being induced due to high BP. Hope she's well.
Thanks to everyone for the support. I also found out now that insurance may not cover delivery at the other hospital since it can be handled here. So, I'll be on the phone with our insurance company later today to try and figure it out.

Jbenny great belly shot! i love your nursery too....i wrote in the nursery thread but in case u dont see it - can u pls tell me where u got your shelf from? thanks!
amurphy sorry about the rash:(
Kaeden’smommy i hope the insurance situation will work out for u.
Izzy your work shower sounds like it was awesome. have fun shopping :D
nikos your 'friend' really is very inconsiderate. she's not being a true friend right now. good thing u have a back up plan.
MrsBrownie sorry about the swelling - hope it subsides.
ds my work shower was awesome! i'm going to post a couple of pics just now...

so my work shower was on friday and boy were we blessed! it was absolutely fun and we got so many things we needed and lotsa stuff of our registry too.
a few people went in and got us the baby einstein activity ctr and we got the diaper champ, baskets for the nursery, 4-in-1 bath station, bottles, tons of diapers, wipes, lotions, bumbo seat, sleepers, onesies and gosh a bunch of other stuff! it was both fun and a little overwhelming organizing everything.
here's a couple of pics: (and yes! they were able to coerce dh into helping open gifts! he didnt want to but then he decided to help me out!)

shaqangel - what an awesome shower. I'm glad it turned out well. These great showers are making me anxious for ours this weekend.
Shaq: Looks like you had a wonderful time!!!
Ffannel: I work in NYC but I live 1.5 hours away... our class was at Vassor Brothers.. was your near there?

excited glad to hear Savannah is doing better. No pressure or anything, but when can we see some pics?:D
shaq Thanks for the compliments on the nursery! The shelf is the Collector's Shelf from Pottery Barn Kids. They have a couple of different sizes and it comes in red or white. I'll probably post that in the Nursery thread, too, for anyone else that wants to know.
Your shower looks like it was really fun. You look great, as always. Have fun with your Mom!! You must be so excited to see her!
kaeden'smommy Just what you need right now! An insurance headache! You would think they would want to cover it, since I'm sure delivering there will cost them less than having to take her there by helicopter after the birth. Insurance is so messed up. I hope you get it figured out.

shaq- your shower looks like a blast! I keep waiting for my office to step up to the plate but nothing to far!
jbenny- the nursery looks great!
nikos- I hope you get the furniture thing straight. that woman just isn't being very nice.
okay. . dumb question. but I know that contractions can feel like AF type cramps. . but are they really low? because I have been having some very low down and althought they aren't regular, it still makes me wonder. both of my friends here that just had babies both delivered at 35 weeks. . . Yikes!
DH bought my daiper bag last night for me. . . I don't LOVE it but it's cute and has a lot of space in it. he wants me to pack it up this evening. . . did anyone find the reference page on what goes in one?

jbenny- The room looks great.
shaq- Glad you had fun at the shower. So nice to see another DH at a shower. Mine went to the work one but I couldn't talk him into the family and friends one. Again- You are looking great!
Niko- Anyday now.... I am so excited for you! You are finally getting the pay off for all the pregnancy drama you have had to go through.
KM- I HATE insurance companies. I am waiting to see what they decide was and was not neccesary through out my pregnancy since they don't get billed until the very end.
I think I am updated-
~~~
So I saw my friend for lunch yesterday and she gave me 2 boxes of clothes and a small box of shoes. I was going through it and I have to find some way to thank her!!! She had such a variety in there. I washed it all last night and between her and my other friend that gave us clothes I have 30 sleepers, 35 hats/beanies, 25 white onesies/side snap t-s/tees and who knows how many little outfits and this is all just the 0-3 months stuff!! :eek: :eek: :eek: My mom's coworker is also having a lil boy so I am going to see if she needs anything since I now have an abundance of it all. The girl I met with yesterday still has 3 more large boxes for me and my other friend has another bag or two. I am not looking forward to all that laundry.
Oh- And I have belly shots today!
This is my 35 week belly shot.
http://static.flickr.com/51/147394609_52bb0b2b6d.jpg?v=0
And here is my 35 week progression. I need to add some pictures from the shower and the professional in there between the last two.
Thread mistress please add the 35 week progression.
Lil_Mrs- You look great! What generous friends you have. If this baby ends up being a boy, my cousin, SIL and brother's girlfriends all have tons of boys stuff they're waiting to give me. I think I'll be a little overloaded if that's the case.
shoulda: I've been having some of the same cramps- maybe once or twice a day. I'm pretty much ignoring them since the baby's not allowed to come out yet.
Shaq: I can't believe how tiny you are- you look wonderful. You shower looked like a lot of fun.
I had an appt today. I'm up a pound- I think I've gained 21 total so far. The baby will have testing after delivery on it's kidneys, and they said the cord shouldn't cause labor and delivery to be any different (Whew.). The doc doesn't feel there will be any trouble with us traveling to Chicago (an 8 hour car ride) 2 weeks after birth- other than the fact that we're nuts doing it with a 2 year old and newborn and the car ride will most likely be closer to 10-12 hours. He did say that if I was dilating at 39 weeks, they would consider helping things along if I was worried about the trip. Maybe I'll consider it at the time, but for right now I'm saying no to that. I go back in 2 weeks for Strep B and my first internal- I'm kind of wishing I didn't have to have either done yet, but I guess 37 weeks is pushing it far enough.
I had a hair appt. scheduled for the end of May. I drive an hour to my hometown cause I'm attached to my stylist. DH won't let me go that far by myself, but has to work that day so he can't take me. :( She can't see me again until June 10th. This baby can't come until then b/c I look like hell now, let alone in 4 more weeks. My roots are awful and I really need a cut-my hair is too long and scraggly. I don't trust anyone else to cut it. :(
Hello all :)
Quick post... I'm still pg, but not feeling well at all. Not labor or anything, just feeling like I'm coming down with something. It has been a llllooooonnnnnggggggg morning. Nikolas woke up in a pissy mood. He asked for a nap at 10:30 and I gladly gave it to him, and I slept too.
Been having contractions and they are still getting more intense but still not closer together.
And a quick note on the furniture saga. She called today and I let her lead the conversation. We talked for 25 minutes about a woman we know that is a little mentally unbalanced. Anyway, I kept working in there how I am so stressed about everything and stuff not being done. Finally at the end of the conversation I ask about the crib. She proceeds to tell me that she made need to work tonight, her husband has to do detention tomorrow (he's a teacher), teach a class on Thur & do something else on Friday.
I immediately bring up that Brian will come over and get the crib and I'm REALLY STRESSED AND WORRIED that I won't have anything to put the baby in when we get home. She says she'll call me tonight after she talks to him. I'm calling her later and going from there.
The thing that gets me, is she is "stressing" cause she's embroidering the baby a blanket and doesn't know what name to put on it :eek: She told me she's been stressing over that. UM HELLO, don't talk to me about stress.
Anyway, I'm going to go. Nikolas is awake and I have to see if Brian can come home early. I really feel like sh!t and just want to lay in bed. Not sure if I should call the dr or not :/
:) :) :) Our nursery is almost done wooohooo :) :) :) I took a few pics last night I will try to get them downloaded & posted tonight. We still need to put up curtains/wall decor/shelves/letters but other than that everything else is done. YAH!
Nikos: Sorry you are feeling bad & Nikos being pissy - hopefully the nap will help him. Hang in there sweetie .... not too much longer.
jbenney:I used to be the same way about my hair & then the girl that had been cutting/highlighting it for about 4 yrs was always busy - had to book an appt for like 3 wks ahead of time it was crazy, so I went to one of her friends at the same shop & she did wonderful and she does my hair all the time now.
lilmrs: you look great! That was nice of your friends to give you all those clothes - I got 2 big boxes from my friend in NC yesterday - she sent me tons of onesies & sleepers - she said "IF" I were having a boy I would not have to buy anything - She has 3 boys.
Lil Mrs....
From pics over the past few months, I've always thought that you kind of resemble my little sister, but OMG... this pic you posted today, your face... you guys could be identical twins.... it really made me do a double take!
(cute belly by the way!)
Nikos... OMG, how you can continue having conversations with your "friend" without blowing up at her is beyond me... you have more patience than should be allowed by law....
JBenny... I made a hair appt. today with someone new (and in my neighbourhood), even though the last time i got my hair cut (early January), I FINALLY found someone who gave me the best haircut ever... problem is that person I found last time works clear across the city, and I'm not "allowed" to travel that far on my own anymore. :( Oh well... Next time....
Shaq.... what a great shower that you had! :)
**********
Me.... sitting here at 35 and 1. Thursday is my big milestone where I reach 35 and 3, which is when Connor was born.
Made lots of progress since yesterday in clearing stuff out of the house (3 huge bags of garage sale leftovers that I got rid of on Freecycle, one box of books & CDs ready to go out the door to the used CD/Book place that happens to be right next door practically to where my OB is, so I can take the stuff after my appt. tomorrow). Sold a couple of things on a local buy & sell internet group.... rearranged the basement closet and some parts of the storage room.... DH dug out the Ocean Wonders Swing and the extra bouncy seat from the storage room and moved all of the storage bins of Connor's old clothing into the corner of Dawson's closet.
Later today I'm going to walmart to buy a laundry basket for Dawson...as well as a book shelf. Then will build the bookshelf and cull through Connor's books to take out the baby-ish ones & put in Dawson's room.
Just redoing my to-do list at the moment, and there's not much left on it! :)
sarahncraig ~ Any update from sarah? I didn't see anything when I was peeking through last night but she did mention the possibility of being induced due to high BP. Hope she's well.
Thank you so much for checking on me. :D I had my amnio this morning at 10:30 so I'm just at home waiting to hear how his lung capacity is. I should hear around 4 or 5 pm. If his lungs are ready, they will admit me to the hospital tomorrow night at 9pm, give me Cervidil, I'll try to sleep and they'll start Pitocin Thursday morning. If the amnio shows that his lungs are not ready, then we'll wait a week to induce.
I had a scare last night but everything is just fine. I went to bed around at 11:15 and realized that I hadn't felt him move since 1 or 2 pm. I tried everything to get him to move but felt nothing. I started crying and freaking out. Craig was great and brought me water and sugar - anything to get him to move around. I knew that if something was wrong, every second counted. So I had Craig call the doctor and he said to go to the hospital. We got there and everything was fine. His heartbeat was strong and my blood pressure wasn't that high. They took blood to test for preeclampsia and we had to wait 1.5 hours to get those results back. We were back at home and in bed by 2:30 am or so. I know we did the right thing - it was just so exhausting!
I'll come back in and post once I know the results of the amnio.
And MOST OF ALL - excited - Congratulations on baby Savannah! Sounds like she is doing well. I can't wait to see a photo.
shaq Good luck at the your appt. tommorrow!
connorsmommy Wow, you are busy today. I wish I could have accomplished half of that today.
sunshine Can't wait to see finished nursery pics!
I'm not sure if I posted this already, I don't think I did. My stepmother told me on Sunday that she thought I dropped. I didn't think so, but after thinking about it, I realized that breathing has been easier and my heartburn is waaaayyyyy better. I mentioned it to DH, and he thinks the belly definitely looks lower. And this might be TMI, but today I noticed a real difference in where the belly was when I sat down on the toilet.
I finally gave in and took off my wedding ring and e-ring a few days ago. I still have indentations on my finger! I hate walking around without my rings. I feel like wearing a sign that says, "I'm married!! Really, I am!"
sarah YEAH YEAH YEAH :D Hard to imagine that you'll be a mom in 48 hours huh? Make sure you have someone let us know!!
THANK YOU AGAIN for your support with this furniture thing. I called and got their ans machine and left a message. Of course I didn't hear back. Brian said I can't go into labor until the weekend cause we can't rely on her at all, I agree.
He did come home at 2:45 today for me. As soon as he got home, I went to bed and slept some more. It wasn't a good sleep though cause Niko was being pissy with him too, so it wasn't just me not feeling good. I guess he's just having an off day. I'm still feeling like crap so I'm going to bed. Talk to you tomorrow.
I think I've started to lose some of my mucous plug. Gross, but yay that something's happening! I will have an internal tomorrow (I'm going to make my doctor do one if she doesn't plan on it). I did find out that my referral to other doctors was approved by my insurance so it will be covered. I'll find out more from my doctor tomorrow about a referral for Mackenzie once she's born.
Nikos hope you feel better soon!!
Lil_Mrs love the belly shot. You look great!
Well, I met with the dietician this morning and she was impressed with everything. She said I have officially "graduated" and she doesn't need to see me again. She told me I should be very proud of myself because she normally has to see the GD patients up until they deliver. I was so nervous and now I feel much better. Yay!
Meet with my OB tomorrow. I need to find out how long past my EDD she will let me go before inducing, and if she uses her EDD based on my LMP or if she uses the EDD from the first u/s I got, or how that works...
Now for my newest belly shots. I finally feel "big". lol.
we had our 2nd session of pro belly shots tonight - it was fun, very different from the first. also it was a different photographer (its the one i do freelance work for). the first one was with my friend. we had fun though and it was pretty quick.
UGHH...well, I'm still here and still PG.
After my internal today (which she wasn't going to do, but changed her mind to try to figure out baby's position) and I have ZERO progress...nothing going on!
She said she couldn't even do the stretch and sweep because she couldn't reach my cervix, it was still up to high. She also said the baby hadn't dropped at all.
The good news is that my BP wasn't a concern and the swelling, while uncomfortable, is probably just 'end of pregnancy' swelling and nothing to worry about.
If the baby hasn't dropped by my next appointment (next Tuesday) then they would discuss induction with me. Just based on family history (my mom was at least 2 weeks overdue with all 3 kids and my sister was 2 weeks overdue with my nephew) that they would consider doing it earlier, rather than waiting until 42 weeks and doing it then. As much as I don't want an induction, I don't know if I can wait another 4 weeks for this baby to be born...I'm so UNCOMFORTABLE now.
Sarah ~ Good luck tomorrow...we will be thinking about you and looking forward to welcoming another baby to the June Club!
Shaq ~ The shower looked great and sounds like you got alot of stuff. Your belly pics are great too...hope the session went well tonight.
Nikos ~ WOW...is all I can say. I can totally sympathize, but you have the patience of a saint. Hopefully the lady comes through for you though in the 11th hour!
Maryanne ~ Hope you are feeling better...I was feeling crappy all day today too (thought I was going to be sick in the parking lot of Toys R Us) I'm hoping for a boost of energy tomorrow though.
Lil_Mrs ~ Great progression pictures...you definitely have a boy belly there!
Mystikal ~ Great belly shot and congrats on the great appointment.
Okay, I think I've left DH enough time to get to sleep. Evidently my snoring is really causing him problems...I told him tonight he had 15 minutes advance time to get to sleep, then I was coming to bed. I just hope he's asleep now, cause I can hardly keep my eyes open. How many more weeks of this?
Hi guys! Don't have too much time to post, so I'm sorry that I'll miss quite a few SO's - but the belly shots are great and I'm glad everyone is having good appointments and showers.
sarah - good luck tomorrow! I'll be thinking of you, sending good vibes your way, and hoping for a healthy safe and speedy delivery!
shaq - yes, my appetitie has dwindled too. Actually, I'm a pretty hearty eater early in the day, but by the evening I have no desire to eat. So I've been eating a decent breakfast and lunch, then doing smaller snackish meals. But I'm tired of eating, which is kind of weird.
Sorry to hear about no progression. :( But at least they're talking of induction sooner than later. Not that that is the ideal situation, but at least they're as concerned for you b/c of your family history.... I hope baby comes on their own sooner than later....
Hi.
I can't sleep. I guess that's what 2 naps do to you in one day :/ Besides the fact that I'm stressing over a place for the baby to sleep.
but you have the patience of a saint
I actually don't :/ I guess I was just holding out hope that she would come through. Makes a person realize who their friends are in the end. Brian said tonight that she probably just doesn't want to give up her furniture, which is fine, but she should have told me months ago and not lead me to believe that she would.
I really hope I last until Sat so I don't have to call her and ask for help and so I can avoid her as long as possible. She really has upset me with this.
So I've been looking for a crib. I really like the one we have for Nikolas but the cheapest place I've found it won't have them in until the end of May. However, I found somone on eBay who has the exact crib, brand new for $125 but he says he won't ship. So I just emailed him with our situation pretty much begging him to ship so we'll see what he says. If he doesn't I'm going to BRU on Thur to see what's in stock.
I'm so torn on whether or not we should get another crib or just try a toddler bed with Nikolas and keep the baby in the pack and play until he doesn't use the crib. I really don't need this stress 3 days before induction.
Ok, I need to try to sleep otherwise tomorrow will be hard.
Sorry about all the stress Nikos! :( I think it is completely rude what this "friend" is doing to you. I hope you are able to get the ebay crib shipped, or make a decision about what to do with Niko and the baby! Try not to stress! It will all work out! :) {{HUGS}}
Nikos ugh! :( I hope he will ship to you.
MrsBrownie I hope by next week your little one has decided to make some progress!
Appetite I've been getting nauseous as well, every time I eat. It really sucks because with the diabetes I have to eat certain things at certain times, and sometimes the thought of milk or yogurt just makes me gag. :( I hope this doesn't keep up for the rest of the pregnancy!!
Well, I'm off to meet with the OB in about an hour. "See" you all tonight!
lilmrs, shaq, connorsmom, mystical: I'm loving the belly shots. I think pregnancy has treated this group of ladies really well. Everyone looks fantastic. :D
jay&erinn : Glad to hear your appointment went well!
sarah : You and your baby are in my thoughts. Sending good thoughts for a great delivery. (I can't believe another June baby will soon be making an appearance!)
Nikos : Grrrr. That "friend" of yours is a real piece of work. I'm so sorry you've had to deal with furniture stress! She managed to turn a generous offer into a big pain in the butt. :mad:
Sunshine : Post those nursery pictures!
I'm sure I missed a few SOs but you guys were a busy bunch yesterday!
Appetite is definitely on the decline. We had a pizza lunch at work yesterday and I could barely finish one piece. Although my appetite for cereal is still intact!
Appointment: My doctor did have me come into the office yesterday afternoon instead of waiting until this evening. I didn't gain any weight this week and my BP was good. But I do have PUPP. I'm taking benydral and using anti-itch ointment. She said if it gets worse we'll talk about induction. She did an internal and said the baby's head is low but I'm still closed. I did notice just yesterday that my belly seems to have dropped. So that's interesting. The doctor also lifted the one-week ban on sex because she said she's fine with the baby arriving any day now. Yikes!!!
Morning All :D
Can I just say THANK YOU AGAIN for all the support you've given me on this nightmare of a furniture ride. After I got off line last night I sat here at the table and started balling massive tears. I guess I'm just upset that I won't have a crib to bring my baby home to, just a pack & play and I have to see if that even has a basinette part to it. I know it has an attachable changing table, but not sure if it's a full table.
Today I am off to BRU to see what they have in stock that we can afford. I have the best husband ever. We're getting ready to do a debt consolidation loan and they round up to the $500 mark, so the extra $350 he's going to get us a crib instead of a new computer monitor. We don't need one, he just wanted a flat LCD one (for like forever) but he knows how much I'm stressing over this. He said we'll wait until the money comes in, but I know I can convince him to get it before hand.
Now all I have to do is convince him to finish the boys room. He needs to put a cover over the return in their room, I have to decide where I want the furniture to go and then he has to strap it to the walls. After that it's one shelf. I'm going to convince him to do all the tonight, and yes possibly get the crib tonight too. Wish me luck.
So anyway, all of this stress I know is not good, so I'm letting it all go and going to enjoy the days I have left alone with Nikolas. It's not fair to him that I'm getting so upset, he needs his mommy back and I'm giving it to him.
Well I have to get ready. This is going to sound strange, but please keep your fingers crossed that little man stays put until Sat. Like I said, I don't want to have to call her for a while.
Hi!
I know I've only posted maybe once or twice a few weeks ago. But wanted to check in and say HI! I've been trying to keep up with this thread as much as possible and have been reading a long. I can't believe its almost time! :D
Wishing healthy babies for everyone!!! I had my doc appt. on Monday and I FINALLY stopped gaining so much weight. Geez. Now I have to go once a week. And Monday is my strep test and internal exam. Hopefully we'll see some progress. I've had 2 showers. One with the inlaws last Saturday and one with work. I must say, this little girl has a lot more clothes than I do!!! With the inlaws all I got was clothes with no gift receipts. I did get one item off the registry though. My work shower on Friday was great! Than on Sunday I have one with my side of the family. I haven't seen them since July.:eek:
Sarah~ I'm very excited for you! Your going to have a little baby this week!!
NikosMommy~ I'm excited for you as well!!!! The furniture situation is making me angry though!!!! What is with that lady?!!??! And she should be returning your calls considering she may need to watch your son. Geez!!!
Okay, I need to catch up on more of the thread. Take care everyone!
Sara: Thinking of you… waiting to hear all the news!!
Kaeden: waiting to hear on the latest….
Lil Mrs: great belly shot
Mystikal; Great NEWS about the dietician!!! and what a cute round belly you have!!
Shaq: cannot wait to see your belly shots.
Mrs. Brownie: Feel better
Appetite: Hungry, but I cannot breathe well at all when I eat… so I would love to eat but cannot stand it when I cannot breath.
Connors: Look at that belly!!
Nikos: You are better person then me.. if my friend was treating me like that I would have written her off a long time ago… friends do not do that to other friends…
Amurphy: silly question.. what is Pupp?
My Dr. Appt:
Weight: lost 1 lbs, so I have only gained 25 lbs..
Dilatation: 1 cm (still)
Effaced: 70%
Since I commute 1.5 hours to work she wants me to be put on disability s.. so last day of work is May 26th... god so much to do... DH leaves for a wedding we had this weekend in NC (he is the in the wedding of our good friend) sad to see him go but he will be back on Saturday night and I am going to ENJOY MY LAST WEEKEND ALONE...:D I have a mani & pedi and massage planned for the weekend... !!!:p
Ryan: Here's some info. about PUPP from the Web. I'm very glad that no one else in our group has firsthand knowledge of this annoying rash!
PUPP is the most common skin condition of pregnancy and is characterized by a typical rash, usually appearing in the later part of pregnancy. The incidence runs about .25 to 1 percent. The rash usually develops on the abdomen near the umbilical area and spreads to the thighs and extremities. Sometimes itching can become very severe. It can spread to the rest of the body, but never involves the face. It is more common in first pregnancies and seldom recurs in subsequent pregnancies. This condition is usually familial and can be traced through the father's side.
Yuck.
Thanks for all your kind words, thoughts and wishes. Y'all are the best! I'm getting a little anxious thinking that I'll be heading to the hospital in less than 10 hours! :yikes: sand will be coming in here to announce his birth and give you guys a photo if my husband can figure that out. ;)
NikosMommy - I probably won't be back here before you go in for your induction. Best of luck and I'll be thinking about you on Saturday!!! :)
just got back from the doctor and i wasnt too happy with the weight gain - i'm up 4lbs so thats almost 29. the doc said its cos of the fluid i am retaining. seems like overnight my feet are swollen, my hands look a little bigger and my face is puffy :( i'm not a happy camper with the weight gain - that really threw me off.
good news is i am almost 2cm dilated and my cervix is slowly thinning and softening, still tight but its progressing. last week i had nothing and this week seems like so much is happening.
baby's heart rate was 148.
and he said he kinda doubts i'll make it to June :eek:
ryan i posted my 36wk belly shot a couple of pages back. looks like u are progressing quite well.
Shaq: wow 2cm dialated already :eek: - girl do not worry about that weight gain. 29 lbs is not that bad - you look like you are ALL baby anyway - you will probably be one of the lucky ones that lose it all when the baby is delivered. Your doctor said that you will prob have the baby before June ... wow that would be in the next 2 - 3 wks. How exciting!
Shaq:
You look so cute!!! Can you believe 2 cm dialated... EEK!!! My fingers are crossed for my due date buddy!
I hear ya on the swelling... all of sudden my ankles have gotten worse and by the end of the day turn a purplish color... so not good for capris or shorts...
amurphy: Ohh. .I am sorry about the rash.. I must have missed when you posted about it earlier.. sorry... :(... good note "it seldom occurs in other pregnancies"... but still stinks... :(
Hey girls! I only have time for a quick update since I didn't get to work until late.
I saw my regular OB today. I'm dilated about 1 1/2 cm but haven't changed since my pre-term labor at 34 weeks. That's good news for us since it means I can stay home for the time being and don't need to move down to the city where I'll be delivering (I'd live with my dad and step-mom). I will see her again next week.
We also talked about what would happen if I were to go into labor here. The hospital and doctors could handle everything and there is very little concern about that. DH was there and feels better about if I were to deliver here, but still wants me to go to Minneapolis instead.
Sarah ~ Good luck tonight! Can't wait for the update.
kaeden's thats great news!
ryan thanks! i still wonder if u'll go before me since u are 70% effaced and i am barely there. have u lost your muccus plug yet? i havent. i'm really bummed about not being able to wear shorts. my legs look so chunky and i'm too conscious about them. are u keeping your legs elevated? i do that all day long and it seems to help, but i guess u just cant get away from the swelling.
sunshine thanks for commiserating with me! if i'm retaining fluid from now on, i feel like i'll be a big swollen whale before the baby comes - oh well. i really hope the baby will stay put until that first week-end in June!
btw i am so eager to see your nursery pics! are u ready to post them?
btw nikos glad there's a solution to the furniture problem:) i hope that lady feels absolutely rotten for putting u through this stress.
Sand- I got it at a liquidation store of all places but I first saw it a JC Penneys. At Penneys they had it in a ton of different colors.
Connorsmommy- That is too funny I can kind of see the resemblance. Great belly shot. I really like that shirt you have on.
Mystikal- Great belly shot. It looks like you are starting to drop as well. HUGE YAY for graduating with the dietician. Keep taking care of yourself hun.
Appetite- Mine has but I think it is more because of the heat. During the summer I have to remind myself to eat because I just never get hungry.
Shaq- Can’t wait to see more belly shots. They did great with the first set. I showed DH the first ones and he was like “She isn’t even pregnant!!” I’ll have to show him once you post the next set.
Mrs.Brownie- Sorry that these last few weeks are killing ya. I’ll be hoping that your lil ones drops before your next appointment.
Nikos- I am so sorry about your crib situation. I got my crib at Target for $120 and it is one of those that convert into a toddler bed, then day bed or head board foot board for a twin. Have you tried www.Craigslist.net I have found pretty good deals on there.
Amurphy- Sorry about the PUPP rash. I think I am getting it too (Is it somehow contagious over the internet or what??? I blame Dansgirl!!) Except I have a rash starting on my chest. It just started Monday and is slowly but surely spreading. I have an appointment today and will ask my OB.
Ryan- Sorry I am pretty clueless. So does the 1 cm and 70% effaced mean that you are pretty close? I always thought you started dilating while you were in labor, but now it sounds like it starts happening weeks in advance.
Orlop- I am O-. All they did was give me a shot at 28-30 weeks and then took some blood during my next appointment to make sure it worked. It is pretty common practice. They will also test the baby’s blood once it is born and if it is rh+ they will give me another shot to protect the next baby.
~~~~~
I got some news.... I finally got laid!!! About time! Sorry just had to throw that in here for you that are also sharing my frustrations.
Also I my sunburn from this weekend is gone thank goodness. I felt like I was constantly having heat rashes.
Let's see- The VP is back from some time off and I am still the only one that has applied for that job (maybe since no one else really knows that it's open). He is just playing catch up since he took a week or two off. My boss is bugging him to get an interview set up. She's getting nervous that we are running out of time.
Well hope everyone is having a great hump day and looking forward to Friday!
ETA- Wow a couple of you girls are already dilated!! I can't wait to see all the new faces!

shaq: I have not posted the pics yet - Hopefully I will have them up by the weekend.
lil_mrs: I got some news.... I finally got laid!!! lol ... Thanks for the laugh. I am sure my hubby would be posting that somewhere if he did also - I just have not felt like it lately.
QOTD: How many of your hubby's keep asking "how long do we have to wait to DTD after the baby is here? " I told my dh atleast 6 wks or longer (whenever I am ready) the look on his face was priceless.

Hello again :)
Ryan Yeah for disability, or should I say not having to commute.
Sarah Thanks for the thoughts. We'll be thinking of you tonight & tomorrow. EAT BEFORE YOU GO, and eat a lot. They won't feed you there until after you give birth.
shaq 2cm, reality check, huh?? Not making it til June, another WOW!!
Kaeden's I'm hoping things work out for you for where you want to deliver. Just worrying about that is a stress in itself that you don't need.
LilMrs Yeah for getting some :p Maybe now DH will want it more often til the baby comes cause he got a taste of what he's missing.
DTD Now/After: We had "fun" on Sunday morning. Well Brian had fun, I just sorta laid there cause I couldn't move :/ He knows it will be 6 weeks after, and depending on when he has his vasectomy, it may be longer :eek:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About this "friend"... So many of you have asked how I can stay friends with her. She is one of the few people in DE that we know and trust Nikolas with. He loves her kids and they love him. Other than this furniture thing, she's pretty much been there for us to watch him whenever. When I had my appendix out, she called Brian every day to see if he needed her to cook, clean, etc. She's also offered several times to come clean my house for me. In general she's not that bad, just this furniture thing.
So I went to BRU and saw a crib for $119. I call Brian and he says don't get it, we won't need it. I ask why, and he says he wants to put Nikolas in a toddler bed and use his crib. Um hello, last night you said I could get a crib :mad: So anyway, I bought a toddler bed that we'll pick up tonight and have 90 days to return it. We're going to have to discuss this tonight in a little more detail. Men :rolleyes: :mad:
I also picked up another coming home outfit for the baby. It's the same theme as the short set only long sleeves & pants. I thought for sure it would be warmer by now here, but there is still a little chill in the air. Which ever one I don't use will go back.
I got results of my blood work and everything is fine. The doc was concerned with pre-eclampsia since my BP was high and there was some protein in my urine. Right now there is nothing to worry about.
Mystical – great news from your dietician.
Shaq – 2 cm…that is awesome. There is only 2 weeks left in May.
Nikos – I’m glad you are going to relax about the crib situation. It is not worth the stress.
Swelling – I’m getting some in my ankles :o(
Appetite – I have no problem eating.
Amurphy – Glad your rash has a name and you have some treatment for it.
Sarah – I’m excited for you.
Lil_Mrs – some people sit for week dilated and other dilate and deliver right away. No one really knows. Great news on getting laid. Dh is hoping to get laid this Friday. We are staying in a hotel so that my mom, SIL and other fam get the house ready for the shower.
QOTD – I told DH long before we got pregnant that he may have to wait 6 weeks.
Belly size – no one seems to believe that I still have 5 weeks to go. Is my belly really that big? I’m measuring on track. Maybe my little one has a lot of amniotic fluid to float around in.
DS: Comments about belly size drive me nuts. I have one "friend" who is due in two weeks who told me that I was "large." How am I supposed to react to THAT?! I'd like to see someone with a 5+ lb. baby in their belly who doesn't look big and round. :rolleyes:
Wow, lots of babies coming, possibly soon! We'll definitely be thinking of you sarah! I would be pretty nervous going in to be induced, too.
And nikos, definitely hoping the babe stays put 'til Saturday, but either way, he'll be here before you know it! Wow!
Mrs. Brownie: Sorry about the disappointing internal. Everybody keeps telling me a lot can change in a very short amount of time, so hopefully that will be the case for you.
shaq: Wow, you definitely have some progress, but you might still hold off 'til June. Hope the swelling gets better. Mine is definitely worse on warmer days, but lately we've had a cooler spell, so that's helped.
amurphy: I really hope the ointment you got helps your rash. As if late pregnancy isn't uncomfortable enough, you have that on top of it. Ugh.
Lil_mrs: Congrats! ;) If I could just manage a comfy position I might post the same news, but man, this big ol' belly gets in the way!
ds2003: Glad to hear your bloodwork came out fine and pre-e isn't an issue.
Mystikal: Great belly shot, and good news from your dietician! That's awesome.
Kaeden's: Good to hear you have more info now, and it sounds like your little girl might be willing to stay put for a couple more weeks.
QOTD: Hmm, I'm pretty sure I've mentioned to dh that it'll be a while afterwards. I think he's getting used to going without, but I feel really bad about it. Unfortunately I never had that 2nd trimester libido kick that I've heard about...
Appetite: It's changed a bit for me. Full meals don't really interest me anymore (haven't cooked in weeks), but sweet things have my number. For most of the pregnancy I really craved protein, but now ice cream seems to come out on top. I'm trying to be good. I'm eating grapes right now. :D
-----------------------------------------
Well, my appointment today went pretty well. My bp was 96/60 (??? That sounds close to dead to me, but she said it was good), and baby's heartrate was 130 which is as low as it's been the entire pregnancy. The baby's head is wayyy down according to the doc (well, actually, I saw the nurse practitioner today) which could explain some of the stabbing pains I've had over the last few days, but she said my cervix is still back although it's thinning and I'm about a centimeter dilated. I don't know. Considering 3 different people have done my 3 internals, I have to wonder if anything has really changed or if they each just have a different way of putting things. Dunno. Pretty sure I'm going to start doing lots of walking and eating pineapple. Might have to ask my mom to see if she can find red raspberry leaf tea for me. Maybe even try harder to figure out a position to DTD...
Also, since they consider Friday to be my due date, I have to start going for postdate tests next week. So Monday I have an appointment at the hospital for an NST and Biophysical profile (I've been wondering what people meant by BPP, now I know). She said maybe I'll get lucky and won't make that appointment. :rolleyes: I'm not holding my breath.
In other news, I think I forgot to mention that my group b strep test was negative, which is good news, and I've had several stretch marks pop out in the last 2 weeks! Thought maybe I'd skip those, but no such luck.
I'm sorry I don't have time for SO's, but wanted to get feedback on something.
I just found out (from a PG friend who had her first weekly appt. today-we see the same dr.) that my dr. doesn't do internals to check dilation or effacement unless you go to 40 weeks. He told her that even if you are dilated, it could still be weeks until you deliver. In that case, I can see why they wouldn't take up a lot of time checking that, but I really want to know since everyone else does. As long as there isn't anything that could be going wrong that they would miss by not doing an internal, I guess I'm okay with it, but I've just never heard of this before. Everyone on CC always knows how dilated and effaced they are. I'll feel left out. What does everyone think of this?
kmmommy
05-17-2006, 03:19 PM
jbenny ~ I've heard of this before, but it seems to be pretty rare. I don't think there's anything they'd miss by not doing an internal. The plus side of no internals is that it does reduce the risk of infection. Maybe you could ask your doctor to do one at 38 weeks or something.
ds2003
05-17-2006, 03:34 PM
jbenny - I'm not finding out (by choice) so you are not the only one. I don't see a benefit in having it done since every woman dilates and effaces differently. There really are no rules as to when you will go into labor based on the numbers.
jcharley
05-17-2006, 04:31 PM
jbenny- my dr doesn't do them until 39 weeks, which is fine with me! I know a girl that has been 3 cm dilated for 3 weeks, and is still a week late! I'd rather not know I'm dialted and be anticipating labor at every step! And, I'd rather not be poked every week anyway!!! JMO!
jay&erinn
05-17-2006, 04:34 PM
jbenny: I would prefer not to have them- I find them quite uncomfortable. My office doesn't do them until 37 weeks, and only because they run the Group B strep test then. If it weren't for that, they'd probably wait even longer.
Gaffy: You BP is excellent- definately not close to dead;) . Mine normally (not pregnant) is usually in that range. It only goes above that in the 3rd trimester. Good luck- I hope you make some progress soon.
DS: Normally I don't care what people say about my belly, but I have a good "friend" who manages to comment numerous times how big I am every time I see her. It really irks me. I've gained 20 pounds so far and am measuring on time. When she asked me how my appt was this week, I told her that and she said, "Oh, you've gained weight. I don't care what the scale says. Have you seen your belly? It's huge." Nice pick me up.
Nikos: How old is Niko? We put Mia in a full sized bed at 2.5 and she has done wonderfully. She actually sleeps much better than she ever did in the crib. She even knocks on the door to come out of her room in the morning instead of just opening the door. Maybe it won't be such a bad thing.
Lil_Mrs: Congrats on your news;) . I just can't find the energy.
Shaq: You don't look like you've gained 29 pounds. Fluid can add up to a lot, and that goes away quickly after delivery- usually within a week or so. Try not to stress about it too much. Once you see that baby, you'll forget all about it- at least until you try to put on your non-maternity clothes;)
Sarah: Good luck!!!!!
My boss asked if I could come in during my maternity leave a few times to run a test that only I do (my replacement doesn't know how). Actually he mentioned it to my office manager and she warned me today. I would probably have to go in 2-3 times. Considering I only work 3 days a week, that would take a week off my maternity leave. He commented that I am taking 8 weeks this time. It's the least I could do:mad: He basically thinks that maternity leave is a vacation. I'm not happy. I like my job, but sometimes my boss just doesn't get it. I don't have a cleaning lady like his wife, and I can't afford a sitter a couple times a week just so I can get stuff done. These are really the only times we don't see eye to eye. I know whenever I take off work it's a big inconvience for him, but still. I haven't taken time off (unless he was already going to be out of the office)since Mia was born almost 3 years ago (except for one sick day when I couldn't get out of bed and one day for a funeral for DH's grandmother). Even my miscarriages were timed perfectly for him (not that I have that kind of control). My first was the day his son was born and my second was when he was on vacation. You'd think he'd appreciate that instead of complaining when I do want time off. Men:mad:
Back from my Ob appointment. I got a lot of it could be just pg symptoms could be other things symptoms going on right now.
First off I gained like 9lbs in 2 weeks but I am also really swollen today. I told him that the swelling is off and on and not consistent so we will see if at my next appointment it continues to skyrocket or if he just caught me on a bloated and swollen day. I just really need to watch my salt intake.
He looked at my rash and told me that it could be PUPP rash and just to take Benadryl. If it continues I need to let him know.
I am also measuring an extra 2-3 cm large which I guess can be a concern. I already have an u/s scheduled for my next appointment so we will make sure he is okay and not overgrowing.
He told me overall that I am looking really healthy and still seem really comfortable and I'm not showing any signs of preterm labor. He also said not to worry too much about the swelling and weight gain and measuring large that it is all probably just because of the heat this week in combination with the fact that it is normal at this point in pregnancy.
My next appointment/ ultrasound is June 5th. And then it is every Monday until the 28th.
I don't see a benefit in having it done since every woman dilates and effaces differently. There really are no rules as to when you will go into labor based on the numbers.
Yeah, that's why I'm okay with it. My friend is freaking out and ready to change doctors and everything.:rolleyes: It was mostly her freaking out that was worrying me, but the more I thought about it, it didn't seem like it would be harmful not to check. It would be interesting to know if I am dilating but I guess this is the down side:
I'd rather not know I'm dialted and be anticipating labor at every step!
I also wanted to know if anyone else's dr. did this or if anyone had heard of it. Because of everything I've read on CC, I always assumed that all dr's checked. Thanks for the responses!
Hello all :)
Still here and still pg :/
Just wanted to drop in really quickly.
Got the boys room done :D Brian moved all the furniture into place, secured it to the walls, and put together Niko's toddler bed. (Erinn Niko is only 20 months old.) We put him in it tonight and Brian said it's going to be a long night. The first thing he did was jump up and run into the living room. We put him back in it and Brian sat with him for a while. He just came out and said he's still awake but just laying there.
So I called my sis balling about the whole crib thing, which by the way we wouldn't be able to fit in the room now anyway with the toddler bed in there :/ (But if we had a crib we wouldn't need the toddler bed...) She offered to buy one for us, but I can't have her do that cause she's pretty much broke all the time. Anyway, she's going to see if a friend of hers has her bassinette and bring that up with her.
I finally realized why I'm so upset about this whole crib thing. During my balling/babbling I told my sis that I'm upset that I have the beautiful bedding and I wanted to bring the baby home a crib made up in that. She said he'd never know, but I will. I was so upset, that she started crying too :( Hopefully she'll bring the bassinette cause now even the pack & play will be tight in there. I'll take pix tomorrow.
Anyway, I'm going to bed. Need to get some sleep, I'm exhausted. Have a good night.
Nikos: Yea, I'm not sure Mia would have done well at that age yet. I know it's stressful, but all babies really need is lots of love when they first come home. There's no doubt that you'll be able to offer lots of that. Regardless, I hope the situation gets resolved soon so you can relax.
Lil-Mrs: Sorry the appt didn't go really well. At least the doc feels it's all pretty normal. Try and take it easy and put those feet up. It'll be fun seeing your babe so close to delivery at your next ultrasound.
I have to go into work today for a few hours:( . I really don't feel like it, but I'm training my fill in for maternity leave. I've been working such long hours that I'm putting in 27-28 hours a week (I only work 3 days and only work until 3:00 on Fridays). It's exhausting and the last place I want to go on my day off. Especially since Mia is still sleeping and I'm going to have to wake her up to get there on time at this rate.
Morning All :D
Quick post.... I have a BPP at 10.
I woke up thinking about Sarah and how it's going :)
Well last night went well. Nikolas fell asleep ok and didn't wake up until 4:30. It was either me flushing the toilet, or turning on the night light in our room to check on him, not sure :rolleyes: He got up and walked right into the baby gate that we had in front of the door :( I put him back in bed, sat on the floor next to him and he fell back asleep. He was up maybe 10 minutes.
So the first night was a success. We shall see what happens from here on out and how it goes when the baby comes home. We're going to get a mattress for the crib and put the baby in there when we get home. If we see Nikolas acting out or not happy about it, we'll use either use the pack & play or the bassinette if my sis brings one. Please keep your fingers crossed it works out for us. If it goes like last night, I'll be ok.
Anyway, have to run. BBL.
Hi Girls-still hanging in there too. I was hoping my OB would give me an induction date for next week and she didn't. I am so frustrated:mad: :mad: . She said for someone who has had about 5 colposcopy's and 2 LEEP procedures on my cervix, it's holding up very well. Still long but soft, no dilation. Because of that she is now saying she is going with an induction the last week of May instead. Never mind that I can barely walk and am incontinent. VERY FRUSTRATING!! I was up 4 pounds in one week too....I was doing so well for awhile, I'm hoping it's mostly fluid but I'm not really that swollen. I resorted to having sex with DH last night to move things along..not very comfortable but he's happy:) Also spent 2 hours walking around Ikea in the morning yesterday and majorly cleaning for the rest of the day, all it gave me was sore back and legs....
Nikos-you are probably better off not spending money on another crib. I'm sure Niko will do fine in his toddler bed. We still haven't bought Colton his furniture yet and he crawls out of his crib every morning on his own. Did see some cute stuff at Ikea yesterday as well but I'm not sure hubby will go for the put together stuff. He's really into everything being finely crafted..blah blah blah. Like you, I just want my furniture!!!!!!!
Sarah-Good luck with your delivery....can't wait to hear:D
Kaeden's-thinking of you, hope everything comes together.
Sarah ~ You probably won't see this, but I'm thinking of you and hoping all goes well for you and your little guy today.
Nikos- I'm glad to hear the first night is a success. I think if you keep playing up how grown up he is for using his big boy bed and how proud you are of him he should stay in there. It's funny sometimes I think we sike ourselves out more than we need to. My friend was telling me the other day how hard it was for her to put her son in his own room. He was just fine and went right to sleep.
Sarah- Still thinking about ya and hoping all is going well.
Jay&Erinn- I'm not to worried. DH is more worried than I am. I just remind myself that I am far enough along that if I need to deliver he will be okay. We are both in good hands and I completely trust my doctor to make the right decisions for us. The goal is to have a happy and healthy family in the end how we get there doesn't matter.
One thing that I have decided is that I am going to start bringing clothes to sweat in and walk after work everyday. I also called my mom and we are going to start hitting my grandma's work out room at her condo complex on Saturday mornings. They have an elliptical there that I really need to start getting on. I am in this continuous cycle of I feel lazy because I don't exercise but I am too lazy too exercise and it starts to effect other aspects of my life and I just become completely lazy. I need to just start doing it and get my energy levels up and remind myself of how much better I feel when I am active.
I'm in so much pain down there everytime I walk. Its terrible. Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm at work and it is so painful everytime I get up to walk to the bathroom. (Which is quite often) Yowsers!!!!! :( I don't know if its normal or if I should call the doctor. I have to take such small little steps and than even than I'm wincing in pain. :(
Jen B-not sure if it's normal but I have been getting shooting, burning pains down there as well. Usually lasts about 20mins or so and then relents. I think it's just the baby bearing/moving down, but I would call your OB to check in. Hope you feel better....
jay&erinn: Um. What doesn't your boss understand about the term "maternity LEAVE?!" He really has nerve asking you to come into work! I'd be furious.
Lil_Mrs_0702: Don't worry about the 9 lbs. I had one appointment when the scale jumped 9 lbs. but then it didn't move much for the next two appointments. In any case, at this point in your pregnancy, I'm sure it is swelling. I really hope that your rash isn't PUPP. It sucks! My belly itches only a few times a day now but my feet (where the rash is most recent) are driving me crazy. Itching them feels SO GOOD but then I can't stop and they start to burn. Again. It is awful and I hpoe you don't have it! (If you do, I found that cortisone cream isn't that effective. I like regular (clear) calamine lotion much better.
jbenny75: I don't think it is necessary for doctors to do internal exams. I think mine started doing them with me only because she is considering inducing me because of my rash.
NikosMommy: Glad to hear things went well with Niko last night. My friend has an 19 month old and is expecting her second in two weeks. Her and her DH hreally been hyped up the "big girl bed" and their DD is actually excited about moving out of the crib.
Graffy: I can't believe you are so close to your due date! Exciting!
Jen B.: What kind of pain?
As for me, I'm hanging in there. I was awake at 5 a.m. scratching my feet and noticed poor DH had moved into the guest room during the night. I guess my snoring was pretty bad. :( Oh well. DH and I took a long walk last night after dinner. The BH contractions were pretty strong. My belly was tight nearly the entire walk. Ouch.
05-18-2006, 08:51 AM
Thanks Ruby. I was getting them mostly during the night when I'd get up to go to the bathroom and every morning. But after an hour or so it would go away and just come and go once inawhile through out the day. But now I've had it all morning long. ouch.
amurphyReally bad pelvic pain. I really don't know how to describe. Kind of like someone kicked me really hard right between the legs. When I'm sitting down I'm completely fine. But the minute I stand up....OUCH!!!!
Jen B. I've been having that type of pain for months now - like I slipped on the balance beam - every time I get up from sitting. It gets a bit better once I'm up and moving, but it doesn't leave completely. My OB said it was my pelvis separating. I feel your pain :(
Jen B.
05-18-2006, 09:05 AM
BottleoredYes, that is what it feels like! Good way of describing it. I didn't know how else to. Thank you! I just took some Tylenol so I'm hoping maybe that will help a little.
good afternoon ladies. . so much going on in here and it really seems like most of us are having some action! I am very excited to see some babies around this place very soon!
lil mrs- I gained 7.5 pounds in two weeks about a month ago. nearly sent me into heart failure. since then, I gained 1.5 the following visit and then today I was actually down a pound. so try not to panic. .the baby's got to have a growth spurt at some point!
jen B- ouch. hope that goes away soon. maybe the baby has dropped and is creating extra pressure down there!
nikos- that's awesome Niko had a great night last night! maybe he was ready after all! continued good luck to you!
sarah- thinking about you today and can't wait to hear your story! here's to a quick, pain free delivery!
DS- isn't your shower this weekend???
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
as for me. . I have NOTHING going on. went in today for my 35 week appointment and she did my strep B test. since she was down there. . . she did a quick internal. and seemed to be very pleased to announce that my cervix was tightly closed up and still very long. then she told me that she was pretty convinced that I was going to be overdue. Mallory is quite content it seems. I am even measuring right on schedule. anyway, she did a quick ultrasound for me and she has what appears to be a large head and is doing some great breathing exercieses. I didn't really get to appreciate it very much since my OB had me on my back for about 15 minutes and I started to get cold sweats and I couldn't breathe. had to move to my side and then she stopped with the ultrasound. oh well, DH got to see quite a bit! the good news is that my weight was down 1 lb and my blood pressure was low. I think I like morning appoinments much better than afternoon!
happy Thursday to everyone.

Hello again :)
ruby I imagine sex can be painful, but nipple stimulation brings on contractions. You can try that to get the ball rolling on your own if they won't induce.
LilMrs I get that lazy feeling too, but no matter what, I just don't have the energy to get motivated. Good luck though...
Jen B It is your pelvis stretching getting ready to have baby. Hopefully the tylenol will help.
amurphy Brian sleeps on the futon cause he snores really bad.
jbenny I thought all dr's checked :/ I thought they would have to to do the group b strep test.
I know I missed some, sorry :(
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Got back from the BPP and little man passed again. Everyone wished me well and said see you soon. I immediately told them that this was it and I wouldn't be back unless I was coming with someone else :D
We went to WalMart and I got curtains for the now guest room. Brian is going to kick my butt, I'm spending wrekclessly :/ It's just that we have the rods in there from when I had Niko's curtains and it looks bare.
I have to move the letters I hung on Niko's wall and hang a shelf today. I then really need to motivate on the birth announcements. The envelopes are done, and the clipart, but not the rest (which I can start and fill in the info later).
So I *think* I spoke too soon on the big boy bed. When we got home he wanted a nap. So I put him down and just closed the door, didn't put up the gate. About 5 minutes later I see this little curly head looking at me over the monitor :) He got up and is now eating. I think I'm going to have a problem with naps. We shall see.
Quick Vent: In a nutshell, my niece (sis' kid) married a looser. She met him in Aug 2002, was pg by Nov and married the following April. Well after they are married she finds out that he's an alcoholic. She has the baby in July 2003 and 2 days later he gets a DUI and is in jail for 18 months. Fast forward to today. He has turned to crack and other hard drugs. Well now he's breaking into my niece's house and also my sisters car. He's stolen money from his own kids, a real low life. Well my sister tells me today that she's not sure when she can come up to see me cause she doesn't want to leave her son alone with the looser breaking into things. This is my sis who was supposed to be coming up this Monday (with my mom) to help me get through the first week. I can't seem to get a break on the stress.
Brian said he'd take vacation, but once again, stress. Ok, VENT over.
Well I'm going to eat lunch. BBL.
Jenb – I had some pain similar to that, but mine was because I went bowling (I don’t recommend doing that). MW said I irritated the pubic bone. I tried my best to stretch the area and 2 weeks later it was gone. Not sure if it is the same thing, but I had trouble walking and getting out of the bed as well.
Nikosmommy – It is great that Nikos had a great first night in his new bed. My nephew slept with his parents until 3 yrs old and they were sure it would be a tough transition, but the first night surprised them and he has been fine since.
Shoulda – yep our shower is this weekend. I was expecting to see a lot of registry action this week, but it has been slow. Something case off just about every day last week and then Friday came around and everything stopped until a purchase that was made yesterday. This is why I shouldn’t registry stalk. I know our family and friends are procrastinators and DH’s family is more likely to give money or clothes. I hope an abundance of clothes is not the answer.
Who is my shower buddy for this weekend?
jay&erinn
05-18-2006, 10:27 AM
Nikos: I'm sorry about your sister. That really is a bad situation.
FWIW- Mia stopped napping initially when we transitioned and after a few days, was back on schedule. She still misses a nap here and there, but it's pretty much back on schedule.
shoulda: Yea for a good appt.
amurphy: I'm definately not too happy. I told my office manager today that I'd have to see how I felt after delivery. If I was recovering well, I'd consider coming in 1 or 2 days and then tacking on an extra 1 or 2 days on to the end of my maternity leave. I'm NOT giving up any of my time.
What a miserable wake up call. Does benedryl have a anti-itch lotion? Maybe you could try that too.
Thanks shouldaeloped, Nikosmommy and DS2003! I'm feeling much better after that Tylenol. And I found out that pain is normal twoards the end of pregnancy. Fun stuff! :rolleyes: I have my internal on Monday so hopefully we'll find out more than.
NikosmommySorry about the situation with your sister. That really stinks. I hope things start to look up for you really soon. Probably on Saturday when your little one is in your arms. :)
DS2003 I have a shower on Sunday with my side of the family! :D
I'm really feeling guilty. I can't stop sneaking peeks at the registry!!!!!! Am I horrible?
JenB – I’m a registry stalkaholic too. I’ve tried to refrain but I just can’t do it.
Our Jersey family and friends are coming up on Saturday so maybe tonight and tomorrow evening will be busy days which means the chance of duplicate items increases. Oh well, I have no problem with returns. Some of DH’s cousins like to give jewelry (bracelet, netckase). I really hope they do not because I’m not into jewelry and will not put it on my child. DH told me that his mom is buying the electric breast pump. She is usually good at following through with stuff, but I won’t get excited until I see it or it comes off of our registry.
Nikos – I’m sorry for the situation your niece is in. That has got to be hard. I wish your sister could come up, but I can understand her reason for staying home.
No time for SO's but wanted to post a update on what happened yesterday.
I had a appt for this friday but they called and moved it up to wednesday(yesterday) and I was leaving the house and stepped off our porch onto the grass not knowing it was wet and i fell really hard on my butt and right hip :( I ran in to check for bleeding and didnt have any but did have some cramping and decided to head in to my appt early to get it looked at. So i get there and they said I gained 5 lbs since last friday, WTF??:eek: Obviously water weight because my legs are so swollen my pants are tight from the knee down, sheesh! I was sitting in the hot as hell waiting room and was having strong contractions and some discharge. The dr came in and was very concerned since a fall like that can cause bleeding or tearing of the placenta and loss of fluid so she examined me really quick and then sent my down to the Womens Eval unit, which is my hospitals ER for preggos. They hooked me up to the monitor and I was having strong but sporadic contractions. Like one for 2 full minutes, then 3 minutes later i'd have a short one, then 20 minutes later i'd have another one and so on, so no pattern. They did a U/S to check for fluid and that looked fine, and we got to see his HUGE balls, which was funny to see.
They let me go home and said to rest and come back if the contractions didnt slow down. They did slow down, but I was up all night going #2 (sorry tmi) and only slept about 20 minutes total, so today i'm sooo exhausted and sore as hell.
So that was my fun day and trip to the hospital yesterday. My next appt is friday of next week and we have a U/S to measure him to see if she will induce due to size or not. Either way I've let my work know that June 2nd will be my last day of work if he isnt here by then.
Gotta run, have a great day ladies!
DH and I had a heart-to-heart last night and have decided after much research that our baby will be born at our local hospital. We have spoken with the specialists and have found that she can receive the same care here as she will at the other hospital (with the exception of the heart surgery which has to be done there at 3-6 months). So, I called my doctor's office today to set up more appointments with the specialists and they called back to set an induction date.
The stomach surgeon is going on vacation May 29th and won't be back until June 6th so we'll be meeting Mackenzie on May 24th!!! We need to be at the hospital by 7am and it's sure to be one hell of a rollercoaster ride for a few days. I'm completely caught off guard by setting the induction date, but trust my doctors and know they wouldn't put us at risk so we're going for it.
Dan’s girl – glad that everything is okay.
Less than 2 weeks until June 1st. This is a little scary since I have a deadline that I need to meet for June 9th.
Kaedensmommy – That is great news for you. Just 6 days. I know my stomach would be upside down about right now. I’m glad a decision has been made and plan put in place.
Well... it seems like everyone has big news these days. Sorry to those who are having difficulties. (don't have time for SO's)
I had my doctor's 36w appointment today. We did the GBS sample and I'll get those results next week. Everything else looks fine. I had my first internal exam. The verdict is 2cm dilated, 75% effaced and 0 station. She said that it doesn't mean anything and I shouldn't worry. Some women stay like this for a few weeks while others go from nothing to labor in a day. But she did mention that she was on-call on Saturday at the hospital in case that turned out to be the day. :eek:
I think I still have a few more weeks to go, so we'll see. I haven't had any real contractions that feel any different than BH, so I figure I'm still a ways away.
She estimated by feeling my belly that Annabelle may already be about 6lbs. That she wouldn't be a large baby but above the average. She seems to think she might be tall in there. I'm glad DH came with me to the doc. I was a little worried about all this.
Our big shopping spree at BRU is scheduled for Saturday evening... so that's my big deadline for now. :)
Ramona You must be careful. Pg does make us graceful.
Jen B Glad the tylenol helped.
Kaeden's I'm glad you and DH have come to a solution. Everything will work out with Ms. Mackenzie. I feel it in my bones. Less than a week, reality check, huh :eek:
Izzy Have fun at BRU. I LOVE that store, next to Ikea of course :p
~~~~~~~~
Nap wasn't that bad. He finally fell asleep after 45 minutes, but slept 3 hours. I got 1.5 in there myself. Now I have to cook dinner and try to convince Brian to let me go get a mattress for the crib tonight. And while I'm convincing him to let me get a mattress, I need to convince him that he should hang the shelf for me :D I tried but it's REALLY heavy.
Oh yeah, I finished what I could of the birth announcements. Nothing fancy.

I think I forgot to post my latest OB appt. stuff yesterday...
Yesterday I was 35w2d
My weight - down 1 lb for a total of 22 lbs gained so far (and I'm one pound under where I was at, at 34/35 weeks last time, despite having started out this pg 3 lbs heavier...yay!)
My BP - perfect!
Dawson's measuring exactly 35 weeks.
His HB was about 145 bpm
He is definitely heads-down (which I already knew)
Cervix....not much change. Just about 2 cm dilated, still low/soft. I thought for sure there would be SOME sort of change given all the low cramping contrax. I've had lately....but oh well, I know labour will start when it's supposed to start...and frankly I hope he stays inside for a little longer anyway (but I'll sure be pissed if I'm still 3 cm/low/soft at like 42 weeks on July 3rd. LOL!!!)
Had my Strep B swab this time, and will get the results next week. HOping I'm not the 1 in 5 who has to have the antibiotics. Had to have them last time 'round b/c I hadn't had the swab yet... hoping I won't be hooked up to the IV again, which was very limiting while in labour.
Next appts:
36w2d - Wed. May 24
37w2d - Wed. May 31
38w2d - Wed. June 7
39w2d - Wed. June 14
40w2d - Wed. June 21
*******
Also had a massage yesterday and it was heaven. I now have a massage scheduled every second wednesday between now and the end of June. So, next massage is May 31. My massage therapist mentioned that if I want at the next massage, he'll start using certain essential oils in the massage and also focus on certain pressure points since I'll be full term. I think I'll allow it b/c if I'm still pg, it will help me go into labour but only *if* baby is ready to come out... if he isn't, he won't come out, so no harm done.
******
Dawson is growing like crazy, I think... he's really stretching my belly out today, and the inside of my belly button is stretched to the max. I may have a disappearing belly button before I know it - yuck! (flat/outie belly buttons ick me out!)

Congrats SarahnCraig!!! Alexander is adorable!
I am still in shock at how many of you are dilated and coming within the next few weeks. I feel like I am going to be pregnant forever while you all have your babies.
I had a little breakdown yesterday about it. At this point I don't think I can even remember not being pregnant. 9 months is just too long of a wait for anything. I kept looking at the nursery and trying to come up with something to do. I feel like I am missing something and the baby won't be ready until I figure it out. Tell me I am not insane.

today's update
I got myself some DRUGS!
The ortho still wanted me to do the shots and the obgyn didn't want to sign off on it until after birth thinking that it might go awat after birth----I pouted and was torn on who to listen to!
then finally, the ortho suggested lidocaine patches and the obgyn ok'ed it. its a local anathalegic (sp?) that will block the nerves and help with pain. I get to wear the patch for 12 hours on and 12 off, under the splints.
I have it on right now and my hands are all tingly and weird---but somewhat better It still hurts but alot less. If it stays like this, I should be able to survive the next seven weeks (I hope) without injecting cortisome...its only been an hour so hopefully it will continue.
I had two people ask me today--one was my pharmacist and the other an office worker -"when did you have the baby?"
I was like, "wtf? are you blind?" I feel like I look like a beached whale and these people are thinking that I am NOT pregnant--guess they thought i was just fat..lol!

Anyhoooo....
Hey there fellow mommas! Sorry I haven't been around much. I have been soo preoccupied (and stressed) lately about our big move to AZ. We did our final walkthrough a few weeks ago and closed on our house last week. Yippeee! Now all we have to do is wait for baby to come and we'll be moving to AZ in early July.
Thank you all for your well wishes about the move. I think someone asked where exactly in AZ we were moving to. We're going to be living in Anthem which is about 30 miles north of downtown AZ. It's a fairly new community, and we are excited about getting settled in.
Baby Stats:
- Started my weekly appts yesterday. Had my Group B Strep test done. Hopefully all will be well and I don't have to take antibiotics while in labor.
- My next appt is on Monday, 5/22
- I also have another ultrasound scheduled for Thurs, 5/25 I guess the dr. wants to check the weight of the baby. I have a feeling he's gonna be HUGE. I've already gained 34lbs. :rolleyes:
- BP was fine. 100/50, i believe.
- Head is definitely down
- Been having lots of BH's lately. My tummy is very hard!
Baby Shower Invites
Oh...I don't think I ever posted a pic of our baby shower invites, did I?
Here they are. I made them myself (yes, I know lame - but my mom is not really all that artsy-fartsy...hehe)

Sarah CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Your baby boy is perfect!! :D
Kaeden's wow! Less than a week and your baby girl will be here! :D How exciting!!
Ramona sorry to hear about your fall. How scary. I'm glad everything is okay, though.
ds my shower is this weekend! :D Hope we both get some good stuff. (My registry activity hasn't picked up at all, either.)
I'm supposed to have my work shower tomorrow, and I was told by a coworker today that it's only going to be half an hour during lunch. Great...what the heck is the point? One of the girls there wanted to have it at her house after work since we close the office at 2:30 on Fridays, but nobody wanted to do that, so now we'll have time to stuff our faces and that's about it. :( Man, that sucks.
Another work vent - apparently the VP hates me so much she's trying to get me to quit so she doesn't have to fire a pregnant woman. Last week they decided to stick me in a room by myself and tell me I'm allowed no contact with students of the school, and when that didn't cause me to quit they tell me yesterday they need me to drive to our other campus three times a week through the end of June to make phone calls for them. (The campus I work at now is 20 minutes from my house and the hospital I will be delivering at. The campus they want me to drive to is nearly an hour away.) I'm just not comfortable doing that right up until my EDD. (Can you blame me? Am I being unreasonable?) So I called my doctors office this morning to see if I could get some kind of excusal note from her. I was told to pick it up tonight, and you know what it says? "Please excuse Rachel from driving to the branch campus for the remainder of her pregnancy." WTF is that going to do for me?? Gah!! I hate my job and wish I could just quit. :(

Congrats SarahnCraig!
Shamocha - your invites are awesome. I wanted to make ours but SIL was against it. Instead we got an Evite and fill-in-the-blank invitations. I hate fill-in-the-blank invites.
Oh well. I really starting to wonder about our registry. 2/3 of the stuff is left.
mystikal - i hope both our registry activity picks up and things at work improve for you.

Congrats to Sarahncraig!! Welcome Alexander!!
PinkConverse Yeah, I haven't seen her for a few days now that I think of it.
Mystikal Is there any creative financing you could do to get out of work early? Sometimes it just isn't worth the trouble. I quit two months earlier than we'd planned, and it turned out we've been fine without my paycheck. Are you going back to this job after the baby? B/c you know, the forcing you to drive an hour to make phone calls in such a late stage of pregnancy really sounds fishy to me...like it sounds like something you would think they wouldn't be allowed to do. Maybe you could call your state's labor board or something. Or have a consultation with an employment attorney (I think some attorneys do that for free) to find out if they can pull this stuff on you. If you are returning to this job after baby, it might be worth it. A letter or phone call from the labor board or your lawyer could stop this harassment (that's what's it's starting to sound like to me).

WELCOME ALEXANDER What a cutie he is :D
Yes, where is Pink? Do we have another baby out there that we don't know about yet???
Really quick Wait til you see the pix of my room and the boys rooms tomorrow. You will die. We put the pack & play in the boys room and first Niko tried to get in it so it tipped over. Then he started throwing all of his stuff in it, so the pack & play is now in our room; along with 2 very large dog kennels. Can we say crowded??? I begged for a mattress but he won't budge for a while. He did hang the shelf though.
On a good note, my sis is bringing a bassinette when she comes so that will give us some room.
Anyway, off to bed. Have to clean tomorrow and prepare the last of the stuff before Sat. Have a good night.

I just searched pinkie's last few posts. Ironically, her last post was talking about putting her hospital bag togethor. I wonder if she needed it :confused:
A couple of days before she had an obgyn appt and it sounded like everything was ok. The baby was measuring a little big so an ultrasound was scheduled for next week.
I hope she is ok.

He's so gorgeous, Sarah! :D
jbenny I was planning on going back after the baby, but the way things are going, I'm not planning on having a job once it's time. I'm sure they'll let me go once my maternity leave is over. I wish there was some creative financing we could do. Unfortunately, due to the remodeling we had to do upstairs (to get rid of the mold) our entire tax return is gone, and that's what we would have used. :( *sigh*
Pink where are you??
I'm so tired this morning. Didn't even hear the alarm go off, and neither did DH. I could have slept for another ten hours. :o
Congrats Sarah-we now have one of each sex already!!!!!!Alexander is absolutely adorable:D

Morning All
So last night I came out of the shower balling, again, about this whole crib thing. I told Brian how upset I was at my "friend" and how hurt I was that we would be bringing the baby home to a pack & play and not a nice crib like Nikolas. I was hoping he'd tell me to go get a mattress today, but he didn't say anything :( I cried myself to sleep and am in a bummed mood today.
I took some pictures of the rooms.
View from the door. We had the changing table from Nikolas, the dresser is the one we just got from Ikea. The crib is to the left.

See the empty crib? It breaks my heart.

Those are the letters that took me 20 months to paint :/

Here is our room, view from the door. It's a good thing we don't use the bedroom except to sleep :/

nikosmommy I'm so sorry. I would be so upset, too, and you have every reason to be. Did you ever even hear from your "friend"? The boys' room is so cute, even if you don't have the perfect crib. Dan'sgirl: I'm so glad you are okay after your fall. I'm honestly so surprised I haven't taken a digger yet this pregnancy. I had a hard enough time not falling down/running into things when I wasn't pregnant! I swear I inherited my "grace" from my Nana.
Kaeden's: It must be nice to have come to some resolution about the hospital. I'm sure your baby girl will be in very capable hands at your local hospital. Less than a week! Holy moly!!!!
Sarah: Congratulations! He is perfect! :D
Connors: DH is totally grossed out by the outie belly button I'm currently sporting. I was trying to make him touch it last night--we were running around the house laughing our butts off. I even joked that I was going to rub it on him when we DTD. ;)
shamocha17: I don't know how you are so calmly managing the impending arrival of a baby and your impending move. It certainly is an exciting time for your family! The shower invitations and favors are so cute. I wish my MIL had been a bit more creative with my shower invitations but I suppose it would be selfish of me to complain, right?! :rolleyes:
Niko'smom: I hope that I don't sound like I'm lecturing you or that I don't understand why the crib situation is driving you nuts (because I completely understand), but you need to try not to let the crib overshadow the joy of your baby's birth. That baby of yours has so much--a loving family, a warm home, a cool older brother. The absence of a crib won't matter to him. (HUGS) :D
mystical: Your work situation sucks! I can't believe you are being treated so poorly. I'm sorry. :(
DS & mystical: Have a great time at your showers this weekend!
I had my NST this morning. I was in-and-out of labor & delivery in 30 minutes. I was a little worried that it would take a while for them to record all the info. they need since the baby is typically quiet in the mornings, but a bowl of Life cereal w/ yogurt crunches did the trick. The baby was moving a lot and I only had two teeny tiny contractions. All good news. Oh. The hospital keeps saying my due date is June 16th, which is the date the doctor originally gave me based on my LMP. I guess the doctor didn't officially change it to June 21st (the EDD I determined by charting and confirmed by U/S) in my chart because the difference in dates isn't significant. Interesting....
Other good news, my rash has really calmed down. I've only had one or two itchy spells--none yet today--and the red marks on my belly aren't nearly as irritated. Hope this trend continues.
Plans for the weekend--help DH paint our flowerboxes, plant the flowerboxes, and install the drip system in the garden. I'm also hoping to convince DH that we do have time before the baby arrives to replace the popcorn ceiling in the nursery. Wish me luck on that one!
Take care, everyone!

Really quicky:
Hayden Cooper was born on Monday at a little less than 35 weeks. Water broke at home, labor was fast, got my epi. 4 lbs 14 oz, didn't go to the NICU or anything. Having a little trouble regulating his temperature and getting used to breastfeeding. Has a full head of gorgeous hair and he's tiny and cute as a button.:)
Someone please let ktsb, mel7dog and mrstim know for me :) . Be back but don't know when.

Hello again
OMG PINK, CONGRATS, CONGRATS, CONGRATS :D I will send them all PM's letting them know.
Thank you so much for your support. As you can all imagine, there is just so much emotion going on right now that I think the crib is just the icing on the cake in the whole situation. amurphy you weren't lecturing me, and I really do know that tomorrow will be one of the happiest days of my life. It is just everything rolled together.
I do have a GREAT HUSBAND though. He called as I was balling and he told me if it's that important to me, to go get a mattress. So I should be happy, but now I'm balling cause I feel like he's giving in cause I "put him on the spot". You see, there is no winning with me today :( I'm a hormonal, emotional, mess. I think if someone came over with brand new baby furniture for us, I'd still loose it :/
Even through the tears though, I managed to vacuum, start laundry, clean the bathroom finish putting the stuff in the hosp bag. Did I mention I was getting change together for Brian for the vending machines and started crying?
Yeah, I'm a looser today and probably will be all day. Sorry to bring the thread down. Well I'm going to go, have to do dishes, which will probably bring more tears to my eyes :rolleyes:
Threadmisstresses: Can we change our title now to include how many babies we have? THANKS :D

OMG Pink- I was not even expecting to come in here and hear about you. Here I am on watch for Mrs.Brownie and NikosMommy.
Nikos- So how many more days do you have??? I love the boys room!! I know you are a little dissapointed but the room looks great. Niko is such a lil ham!! He will make a great big brother.
Weren't we the biggest thread of Expecting Mommas? No wonder we have so many coming so early... Gotta spread them out and give some of the other groups a chance to catch up!
~~~~~
So I set up an expectnet game. You can guess the Collin's due date and his stats. It's in my siggi.
I also met with one of my old friends last night that couldn't make it to my shower. She was 2nd mom growing up and she was so darn cute. She brought her camera and presents to Round Table and is so excited. I got a Eddie Bauer portable bed that you can throw right over your shoulder and one of those changing pads that unfold and have pockets for the wipes, diapers, and a few toys. It is perfect for short shopping trips for just in case. It's the size of a typical clutch purse folded up.
She's so excited to be as adopted grandma (her daughter is my age but isn't having kids anytime soon).
CONGRATULATIONS to Pink and Sarah!
It is so exciting to finally see the little ones that we've been talking about for so long. I'm glad everyone seems to be doing well. It is reassurring that we are far enough along that those cuties are ready to make their appearance! I can't wait to see more pictures!!!
For me, the doc did say yesterday that I started dilating and effacing, but in my family, both my sisters and my mom were in that situation for 2-4 weeks before delivery... so I'm assuming I'll probably go close to June 14 as expected.
I LOVE ALL OF YOU SO MUCH :D You guys are a huge support for me.
So it is definately hormones that are getting the best of me today. I was just sitting here looking at pix from when Nikolas was born, balling of course :rolleyes: If you have stock in Kleenex, I've made your day today :rolleyes:
So I'm pretty much done with everything except the laundry but that can only go so fast.
I'm now going through the "this time tomorrow" thing. Hopefully by this time tomorrow I'll be holding my little man. I *think* it will be relatively quickly seeing as I'm already so dilated, and I've started to loose my mucus plug today. Then again, everything I've thought for this pg has gone the opposite so we shall see.
Congratulations Pink! And welcome *little* Hayden. Please give us some more details when you come up for air!!!!
Congratulations Sarah Welcome Alexander!
I'm so glad these early arrivals are so hale and hearty. Alexander isn't far off a full term weight! And Hayden is small but no NICU time? Yippee!!!
Since I am always overdue, these early babies are huge surprises to me! I'm just hoping I don't go into July! My track record suggests June 24th (three days overdue)
Nikos I hope you find some peace with everything before your induction. I'm sorry you've had so much stress in these last days!
__________________________________________________ _________
My office took me to lunch and threw me a "shower" yesterday. I asked them not to get me anything but of course they didn't listen! I got a beautiful, huge, lightweight butterfly blanket that will be perfect for swaddling my little summer baby (the others were winter babies), a couple bright colored developmental toys, a crib mirror, new Avent bottles, a scrapbook and set of artsy photo frames for a collage, some Burt's Bee's stuff and a box of chocolates for me. I also stopped at the Carter's Outlet on my way home and bought a couple cute outfits for Meredith. I couldn't resist! I went to Gymboree too (I am an addict:D ) but luckily I saw nothing that tempted me!
Today we are headed to the park for Rachel's preschool picnic. The school has rented out the little train that circles the park. Rachel loves it. Hopefully I won't get motion sickness!
Niko's-I usually don't post or lurk too much on the weekend but I will be keeping an eye out for you. Best of luck with your delivery and the new love in your life. Can't wait to see pics and hear all about it ( and I hope I'm right behind you for delivery....:D )
Congrats Pink and Welcome Hayden
Now that we have some babies, we need some birth stories when you get a chance!
Nikos: Good luck tomorrow! Have a fast and easy delivery. Take lots of pics of those two boys together.
Lil_Mrs: I'll probably be hanging out with you here for quite awhile too, so don't worry. I have no plans on going early, and really don't want to. I'm actually hoping for no real progress to be found at my appt on June 1st. I keep telling this baby that he/she needs to stay put until at least the 15th. We'll see.
Dan's Girl: BE CAREFUL! I've almost bit it a few times, more lately. Like my DH and co-workers say though, weebles wobble but they don't fall down:rolleyes: . Nice, HUH? I'm trying to hold on tighter to railings etc, since those seem to be the places that I'm stumbling the most.
Kaeden's: Good to hear you'll be delivering close to home. It can be so stressful to be so far from home after delivery. At least you'll have the support of family and friends that are close by.
Is anyone having rib pain? It's not really pain, mostly discomfort. It starts early in the day in the middle of my back. By mid-day it hurts all the way around- almost like me ribs are separating. They don't hurt to touch- it's more like it's sore underneath. Not sure if that makes sense.
Hello again :)
I've been having contractions steady for the past 2.5 hours every 10 minutes. No matter what I do, lay on the left side, drink, etc, they are steady. They aren't getting closer together, but they are getting more intense, like very bad menstrual cramps.
I so can not have him until later this evening and here are my reasons why:
1. I don't want to have to call "that" person (FIL won't be here until at least 5)
2. I still need to go get the mattress
3. I can't miss my all you can eat buffet (although if they are this bad we'll have to go to Old Country across from the hosp instead of the Chinese place on the other side of town :D Hey then I can get the mattress, BRU is in the same shopping center)
4. I haven't had time to take a shower yet and Nikolas is awake so I can't take one
I think these are all valid reasons for him to wait until later this evening :D Either way, I know the end is near and if I do make it until tomorrow, it should be quick.
Can I just say that panic is starting to set in :eek: I'm just a little freaked right now. I should have gotten a pill from the dr for anxiety.
I'll keep you all updated.
I can't miss my all you can eat buffet (although if they are this bad we'll have to go to Old Country across from the hosp instead of the Chinese place on the other side of town Hey then I can get the mattress, BRU is in the same shopping center) ha ha ha too funny! I can not believe tonight or tomorrow you will be holding your new baby boy - Have yall decided on a name yet?
Girls day out: Me & my good friend are going to lunch & to see Poseidon tomorrow Josh Lucas = YUMMY! I might go into labor watching him ... haha
nikosmommy Good luck with everything and I hope you make it to the chinese buffet!!
sunshine I agree w/ you about Josh Lucas. He is sooo adorable.
I had big plans to clean my living room today. I started by reading the instructions for my travel system so I could see how everything worked and put away the stroller, then install the baby seat. I had taken the seat pad off of the baby seat to wash it. Trying to put it back on totally kicked my butt. I don't know if I was having an off day or what, but that thing seemed like you needed to be a rocket scientist to figure out all of the straps and slots and everything. By the time I got finished with that, I was done for the day. The living room is not getting cleaned today.
Nikos - WOW! Good luck either tonight or tomorrow...and I hope you get your Chinese buffet AND mattress too. I'm sorry about all the stress you've had to go through recently, but hopefully it will all melt away as soon as you're holding your new son.
As for me, things are going well. We have our big u/s on Monday with the perinatologist to see if my darn placenta has budged. If it hasn't then I'll be scheduling a c-section when I see my OB on Wednesday.
But, our nursery is done! The only snag is that we're having to use a temporary glider and ottoman until our actual one arrives, but that's not a big deal. Hope you don't mind if I post a couple here?
Once we get his name decided, we'll put some letters up either over his crib or over the dresser. I just feel so relieved! And the people that were going to throw me a shower in NYC sent a HUGE box yesterday with a ton of presents in them, so I feel prepared now to bring home a little baby. DH and I are going to BRU this weekend to get some last little things that we didn't get, like bottles and such, and then we'll be done.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
rib pain
Just wanted to drop by quickly to chime in to jay&erinn's question. I've been dealing with the rib soreness on and off for most of the past 3 months I'd say. Annabelle is not kicking my ribs, but I think it's just the overall expension of everything else having moved up in my chest that makes it sore. It can get somewhat better when I do stretching exercises and I am careful with my posture. All bras are uncomfortable in that aspect for me but I still wear them. I think the ones without underwire seem to help most. I've just learned to live with it. I also never realized how far down the ribs go until I had to deal with this pain. The uterus is definitely overlapping my rib cage.
Best wishes for tomorrow!!! We are all excited for you that you get to meet your little one in such a short time!
edited: Been wanting to say that everyone's nurseries are looking so amazing!!! I love seeing the different color combinations that were chosen. Everyone has such good taste and decorating skills! I feel like our nursery is so plain.
gina Your nursery is adorable! Have fun at BRU. I swear everytime I go there, I look at the time when I leave and it's two hours later!
Forgot to add about my day: Before I tackled the travel system, I started packing my hospital bag, finally. I still need to pick up some nightgowns and a robe- I'll be looking for some cute, cheap ones at Target. I've also decided to exchange my diaper bag, so I can't pack that up yet. I'm trying to wait to go shopping until DH gets paid next Tuesday. That kind of makes me anxious. All these babies are making me feel like I need to have it done right now, in case I'm next!!
Have a good weekend, everyone.
I'm still here :/ We went as close as 7 minutes for about an hour but that was it.
So I didn't have to make that call. FIL is here. I GOT THE MATTRESS and the crib is done :D I didn't get Chinese, but had pizza. And I just came out of the shower.
The dr gave me an ambien to help me sleep and I just took that. I should be out in about 20 minutes.
Well ladies, short of them not calling me by 8 (in which case I'll let you all know) I won't be around for a couple of days.
Ok, I'm crying again cause I want to thank you all for sharing this journey with me through everything from surgery to furniture. I couldn't have asked for a better group of women to share this journey with.
See you in a couple of days and maybe there will be more mommies by then.
Nikosmom: It is Saturday morning and I'm up bright and early sending you good vibes! Praying for a safe and easy delivery! :D
Izzy: I'm up bright and early because I have a baby foot pressing up against my rib. It hurts more than when I was carrying the entire baby really high. I guess because the pain is more concentrated?
Gina: Beautiful nursery!
jbenny: Your post about cleaning the livingroom/figuring out the travel system made me laugh! I'm planning on tackling the housecleaning today but think the sunshine might divert my attention outdoors (especially since we've been rained out for the last week)!
Stopping by to post my 35 weeks belly shots. I think you can tell in these photos how much the baby dropped.
Izzy: Thanks for commenting on the rib pain. At least I know I'm not alone. It's been annoying to deal with it for the past week or two, let alone 3 months- OY!
amurphy: You look great!
Gina: The nursery looks wonderful.
DH is working all weekend, so it's just me and Mia. I asked my Mom to come over this morning and go to target with us- since my episode a few weeks ago, I won't go anywhere alone with Mia again until this pregnancy is over. Hopefully we'll be able to get outside a little too- it's finally not supposed to rain today.
eek! I don't think I posted this yesterday....
Welcome Hayden, and congratulations PINKS!! :)
And good luck Nikos!! Am thinking of you to day!! I can't believe we're going to welcome our 4th June baby this weekend.... and perhaps there's more coming?????
***************
I didn't do much yesterday, but I was exhausted and falling over by about 10 p.m.
Not much going on this weekend (it's a long weekend here in Canada). Going to take Connor to a playdate from 10-noon with twin 4 year old boys. The twins' mom said she'd have Connor over for the playdate with her boys and I could go home to rest or do whatever... :) And we're having some friends who live near by over for a beer this afternoon.
Then, no plans for the rest of the weekend, unless I can somehow convince DH to tear out an ugly bush in our back yard and replace it with a raspberry bush - I've only been talking about it for 2 years now - he hates the ugly bush too but everytime I get serious about tearing it out he just says how difficult it would be. Ugh...
Well, anyway, I'm sitting here and Dawson is showing no signs of showing up anytime soon. I'm still having cramping and BH's, but nothing that I haven't had in the past 2 1/2 weeks. So, we'll see. I initially predicted baby would be born May 20(today), as it's the 1st anniversary of DH's (young) step-mom who I was very close to... but unless things start happening soon, that won't happen. Oh well...
*************
QOTD for RO's (or those who are planning on #1 being an only child??)
Any second (or third - LWM??) timers feeling torn about your pg, esp. if this is going to be your last?
I must admit I am feeling torn about this pg right now.
I'm "ready" to have Dawson. Except for the fact that the OW swing is still sitting in pieces and will need to get built, we ARE ready for this baby. Pretty much EVERYTHING is in place. And, with all the pain/swelling I've had in the past few months, I can't wait to put that all behind me. I can't wait to stop waddling like a duck when I walk. I can't wait to be able to bend over. I can't wait until I can see exactly what I'm shaving "down there." I can't wait to be able to sit down and not feel a squished baby squirming to get comfortable (and step on various organs in the process). I can't wait to allow Connor to sit right in the middle of my lap and not have to reprimand him for elbowing me in the tummy (it really isn't his fault...my belly takes up more room than anyone - him or myself - are used to). I can't wait to go through ONE day without spilling food or drink on my big ole belly. I can't wait to stand up and hug DH without having to tilt my belly downwards.
But, mostly, I can't wait to meet Dawson.
At the same time, however, I don't want this pg to end. I'm not ready. I dread the sleepless nights that I remember so clearly. I dread not driving for several weeks and then I dread having to start driving again (I had a bad car accident with Connor when he was 6.5 weeks old -- I was so sleep deprived but didn't really realize it at the time b/c I'd started to feel like I was "normal" again... but I got distracted and ran a red light, totalled my sunfire, totalled someone's minivan. No injuries, thank GOD, but it took me a long time to forgive myself... So my self-imposed rule is no driving for several weeks this time -- not worth it) While I *am* ready b/c Dawson's room is ready, I still have a to-do list that is about a mile long. Granted, most of those little to-do things are all things I can do after baby is born and have no major impact on anyones lives, but they are projects I want done sooner than later. Financially, right now it's better that I stay pg as long as possible, b/c I can stay on sickness EI benefits until baby is born. After baby is born, I will collect a total of 50 weeks of maternity and parental benefits. Therefore, the longer he stays in, the MORE weeks of benefits (total) that I will receive from the government. That's important this time 'round because I don't have a job to go back to... will start my job search in Feb/March, perhaps, but the longer my benefits last into 2007, the longer I have until I run out of income. As much as it can drive me crazy, I will miss having Dawson inside of me. I will miss his hiccups and bumps and tumbles and kicks and punches. I'll miss feeling my belly flop over. I remember shortly after Connor was born, longinig to feel my belly alive with baby kicks again.... but at least at the time I *knew* I'd have another baby some day. This time, that's not the case. Dawson's arrival will signal the completion of our family. This is it, these are my last days/weeks that I'll ever get to feel all this - the miracle happening inside of me.
On a personal level, I want Connor to remain my only child for a little longer. We've been a family of three for three years now and Connor's world is about to experience a big shake up. I want to postpone that for him for as long as possible. I dont' want him to feel left out or replaced. But how do I do that, 24/7? Connor will ALWAYS be my baby...but I want him to be THE baby for a little longer. I dread that Dawson will grow up, just like his brother has. TOO fast for my liking. This will be my last chance as a mother to experience newborn stuff... infant stuff, first smiles, first teeth, first steps. And I want to relish every moment, but that will be so hard knowing that time will just keep on moving on. (Oh God, I'm crying like a baby now). I worry about how I'll deal with TWO boys. I mean, my ONE boy tests my patience 24/7. How am I going to do this with TWO??? What if Dawson is just as active and crazy as Connor? What if he isn't?
anyway, there are so many thoughts going through my mind... I'm confused. I want this baby to be born NOW... AND I also want him to stay put until the very last possible second. I feel so torn right now, I just don't know what to think.... so I'll stop here...
amurphy - what a great belly you have there! Very cute and perfectly round. And I think you've dropped too.
Connors Mommy - I'm crying over here too after reading your post, and this is only my first child! What you wrote was beautiful - full of motherly love and worry. And it really put in to words some of the things I've been feeling lately too - anxious and ready for the baby to arrive so I can get my body back, yet not quite ready to share him with the world. I don't have any helpful words, but hopefully it's reassuring to know that probably most of us feel this way, not exactly if this is our first, but in some way.
I'm a little late here, but congrats Sarah and welcome Alexander!
Congrats Pink and welcome Hayden!
I can't wait to see more pics and hear all about the new babies!
I had my 38 week appt. yesterday, and my OB did an internal. She determined that I'm 3cm dilated, 60% effaced, and baby is at 0 station. The first thing she said was, "I feel the baby's head!" I know it doesn't necessarily mean anything, but just to know that something *is* happening feels good. The contractions I've been feeling ARE accomplishing something. The dr. did say that she doesn't think I'm going to make it to my due date, so we'll see if she's right. Last week she said she'd induce by 41 weeks, so I know Samantha will be here within the next 2.5 weeks anyway. Crazy! I've definitely been motivated to make sure everything is ready to go.
Today we're planning on going to the arboretum nearby. We've never been, but it looks like a lot of fun. The weather is gorgeous, and I just want to get out and walk around for a while. I guess if Sam is ready that could help things along. :)
connorsmommy -- I'm not a RO, but I wanted to offer some ((((HUGS)))). I have a feeling that your mixed emotions are completely normal, and I can easily see myself feeling the same way when I get to your point. Hopefully once Dawson is here those feelings will be gone and you'll just be ecstatic to finally have him in your arms--knowing that your family is complete.
Connorsmommy: Your post said many of the things I'm feeling.
I don't deal well with pregnancy- I feel really bad (lightheaded, heart palipitations, etc) that I'm just not myself. I can't go for walks around the neighborhood, I can't shop by myself or with Mia alone. I can't wait for that to go back to normal, and feel like I can really play with Mia, doing whatever she wants, not just what I feel up to.
On the other hand, I'm not ready to never be pregnant again. DH and I have basically decided that this will be our last baby. Pregnancy is too hard on me, and it's not fair to Mia and this future baby to ask them to go through it with me, and suffer because of it. There was a complete sense of panic after my second miscarriage that I didn't enjoy Mia being a baby enough- that maybe I missed out on too much and would never get that back with another baby. What if I couldn't ever have another baby. Luckily that isn't the case, but now I feel bad for wishing for the end of something I prayed so hard to get. There are very few parts of pregnancy that I'll miss, but the anticipation of another little one will be the hardest to never feel again.
I also feel bad for Mia not being an only child any longer. I never knew how much I could love someone until she came along. I thought I knew the strongest kind of love right after she was born. Boy was I wrong- it just keeps getting stronger and stronger. Although I already love this baby, I feel bad for Mia. I often wonder if I'll be able to love another child as much as I love her (even though deep down I know I will). I'll miss our days of it just being the two of us or the three of us. I'm very protective of our private time as a family. I realize that this baby will fit in just fine, but dread the havoc it'll cause in Mia's little world. I hope I can still make her feel special with all the care a newborn needs.
OK- enough about that. I could go on and on with all the worries and fears of having a second child. Just know that I'm feeling many of the things you are.
NikosMommy baby boy is here!
I went to Kohl's, then to a friends house, we went to eat lunch, to the movies to see poseidon, to walmart, then come home & rested for a little while - got up went to target & babies r us. came back home & worked in Bailey's room for about an hour - I was hoping I would go into labor ... lol j/k by working so hard. The only thing the nursery needs now is the letters hung & clothes seperated into sizes. I will try to post some pics this afternoon -
sunshine: take it easy!!!!
I started having contractions last night:eek: . I have so many reasons why I can't have this baby until at least June 10th- and now I'm paniced. The most important is I have a hair cut on June 8th. I love the girl that cuts my hair. She's so popular that I have to make my appts 4 months in advance. I really don't want to look like a freak until Aug when my next appt is. Luckily the contractions stopped after an hour or so, but I'm still having them sporatically. We also haven't discussed any names and I don't have a hospital bag packed. Wish no contraction thoughts for me- I'm just not ready.
lol @ all the haircuts needing to be done before our babies arrive!!
On monday I started to panic about my hair - it was super long (hadn't been cut since first week in Jan) and getting really hard to manage. I had hoped to go to my great new stylist but she's on the other side of the city and I'm "banned" from venturing out that far on my own (not to mention she's always booked up way in advance). So I finally broke down and called MIL's stylist (yeah, I know), because this woman works out of her home just a block away from me. Figured it couldn't hurt for just a really good trim -- as short as it will go with still being able to do a ponytail. She managed to get me in Friday and now I can relax knowing that's another thing done (now if I can sneak away to get my eyebrows waxed this week, I'll be all set!)
*************
Well I must be in super nesting mode... I was out for an hour murdering a bush in our back yard known as the Ugly Stick Bush. I've wanted it out forever but never had the time to get it out of there, nor could I get DH to agree on what to put in its place (I want a raspberry bush). But finally I've broken him down and he's agreed to what I want! So, while he took Connor to the park this afternoon, I took a pair of shears to the USB and reduced it from this massive 5'x5'x5' mess of bare sticks (well, MAYBE 3 of the hundreds of sticks had green on them) to a 1' wide, 6" high stump. Now DH HAS to dig it out and replace it with a raspberry bush. :D
And THEN I'll be ready for baby. LOL!
connorsmommy Good job on the USB!! I hadn't even thought about eyebrows!! I need to get that done, too! I usually get that done at my hair appt. I'll really need that badly since I can't lean over the bathroom counter to pluck them anymore. I did crawl up and sit on the counter once to try, but DH caught me and read me the riot act.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
i've had a super busy week-end, not intentionally though!. we went to a baby fair yday at the hospital we're using and it was pretty good. one thing we learnt about in the safety section was about those storks that are put out in front of homes announcing a baby's arrival. dh was going to do this and now he has changed his mind COMPLETELY. apparently abductions have been on the increase in the past year and these storks are the culprits, esp since kidnappers know that the mothers are home alone. so no stork for baby and i :( kinda sad but i love my baby more than a stork! dh refuses to even put a balloon outside. oh well.
last night i got the call that one of my best friends was in labour - she was due a week before me (but its her 3rd so we thought she might go a little early - though not 2wks early). she was only 2cm but her amniotic fluid had started to leak. they ran some tests and decided they had to deliver within the 24hr period. anyways i rushed to the hospital and we ended up sitting around for a while. oh the reason i was there was cos she wanted me to be in the room with her. her sis, dh and i ended up falling asleep cos she was trying to get some rest. so at 2am we headed home. she called me at 6:30am cos she was 6cm and 85% effaced. she got an epidural last night. so it was off to the hospital again. we got there in the nick of time cos by the time they broke her water she was already at 10cm and it was time to push. i held her head while she pushed and also took pics. dad got to actually deliver the baby. took a tad longer cos baby was OP but eventually came out within 15mins!!!! WOW!!! everyone knew i was pg with my first and kept telling me what was going on, why they were doing certain things, etc etc. it was definitely a great learning exp. for me. when the baby came out, it happened so fast that i really had no time to grasp what happened! it really was very interesting and exciting to be there to witness and i do feel honoured that she asked me to share in such a private experience. anyways she delivered a healthy little boy (dont know the weight yet -i'm headed back ot the hospital later this evening). so after within an hour of getting there she delivered the baby and was stitched up.
i got back and took a nap cos i was really exhausted. but i decided to get my butt in gear and get all baby's linens washed and clothes as well. so dh has been helping me get that stuff done right now.....i dont want to be thrown off guard and i've had some friends say they're gonna come help me get this done cos they want to, but then something always comes up. if i dont do it myself, it wont get done. and i'm going to get my bags pack by t'row cos my friend had nothing done at all - that really was a wake up call for me!
okay sorry for the long post....just wanted to share my exciting day so far....gonna finish working on baby's stuff and then head to the hospital.

Reality Check
Friday night was a wake up call for me. I started having some contractions really bad from about 2-4am. I was soo nervous b/c all I kept thinking about was...WE ARE SOO NOT READY FOR THIS BABY TO COME. We've just been so busy with the move and stuff. Well, thank goodness the contractions went away. As soon as I got up Saturday morning I packed my hospital bag, DH cleaned and vaccumed the PNP, washed/put away all the baby's clothes and cleaned up his carseat. I guess it was a way for baby to say: ]"Hey mommy...get your butt in gear. I'm gonna be here soon. " ;) [/COLOR]
I must say though, I am missing the building of the nursery process. Seeing everyone's nursery has been so inspiring. Such beautiful rooms. I can't wait till we move so that we can start on little man's nursery and DS's big boy room. Still contemplating whether I should have them share rooms or not. Our new house has a loft too, so it will be a great play area for the boys. hehehe...I can't help but giggle when I say "boys" (plural) - b/c I'm gonna be a mother of 2 soon! WOW!! :)
Belly Rubbin
On Saturday, we went to my cousins graduation party. It was great (with tons of good food.MMMmmm) but man....everyone (even ppl i didn't know) kept rubbing my belly. I've been quite lucky so far as not have too many ppl have rubbed my belly, but I swear I was a hand magnet that day. Some of my aunts and uncles were heading to the casino later so they all decided to rub my belly for good luck...haha! I didn't really mind. I think what annoyed me more was ppl telling me how BIG I got. :rolleyes: But eh..what are you gonna do at 37wks/3 days.

Thanks girls on the compliments ... after years of looking at the "post pics of your nursery" journal on here & WC ... I am sooo happy that ours is FINALLY done & that I got to post pics of it.
I have been resting most of the day today ... on & off in the bed til 3:00 PM :eek: I've washed 3 loads of clothes, pulled weeds out of the flowerbed & cleaned the kitchen other than that it has been a relaxing day .... Hummmm I bet I am in the nesting stage.

So the camping trip was a blast and guess what???
My friends threw me a shower!!!
I was totallly caught off guard. I noticed all the warning signs but didn't put them togethor and made actually an excuse for each sign as it happened. Pretty funny since I rarely miss a trick and to top it all off Josh actually succeeded in keeping a secret (even though he just found out 24 hours before).
The campground was nice. Most people set up tents set up thru eight sites. We stayed in a cabin with my friend Krispy and her 32 week old daughter. We had a big deck off the back off the cabin. That is where they threw the party. I noticed that everyone seemed to have left the central camping area but I just figured people were off doing there thing. Josh asked me if I wanted to go for a trip to the store, so I jumped in the car and unknowingly made it soooo easy for him. I asked if we could stop at the cabin beforehand so I could go to the bathroom. Even as we arrived to the cabin , I didn't put two and two togethor. I thought a bunch of people came down to hang with my friend while her baby was down for s nap. Finally Josh was like, "it's YOUR shower"...lol!

There were probably about 50 total of so *grown-ups*, kids, and dogs in attendance. Krispy was the one who did all the planning .She was so bummed when she missed our wedding, b/c she was due with her third baby two days later and said that she wanted to give us this to make up for that..lol! (We also deadicated our wedding program to her), Don't laugh at the picture---remember we were camping in the middle of the woods!

Our cake was so yummy! The design was perfect, since my nickname is bear (or bearly) and the baby is destined to be called lil-bear ..lol! Vanilla with chocolate mousse!
http://images1.snapfish.com/346%3B4%3A354%7Ffp346%3Enu%3D3236%3E2%3B9%3E%3B69% 3EWSNRCG%3D323376968%3A66%3Cnu0mrj
Luckily Kris deemed the shower as a gift card shower since she knew that our car would be packed full of camping gear. We got certificates to wal-mart, BRU, barnes and Noble, and to the swanky baby store in town.
We also got a beautiful quilt that my friend mary made for us. It has a sun and moon theme on it. I was fighting back tears as I opened it. It is so special. I will post close up pics later, but this gives you an idea.

Another friend knitted us baby booties. They are so small! We got some other fun stuff like the bathtub ,monitor, and clothes!
Appropriately for a shower, it started raining almost as soon as I arrived. It was a quick shower that stopped once we moved all the food inside...lol! but this was our reward

Nikos CONGRATULATIONS!!! :D I was thinking of you all weekend!
Sunshine love the nursery pictures! That color is gorgeous!
Maryanne yay for the shower! :D How cool that they were able to surprise you!
I had my work shower Friday, and then my family shower Saturday. The big thing from the work shower was a $60 gift card to K-Mart. Everything else was just like washcloths and blankies, as well as some 3-6 month clothes.
The big things I got at my shower Saturday were our travel system (from my parents), and the PNP from my grandma and aunt. We got some diapers, a couple outfits, some books, etc. Mostly small stuff. Nothing from our registry. :( I should know by now not to register. We didn't get anything from our registry when we got married, either. :rolleyes: Not that I'm not grateful for the stuff we did get, but we're getting stuff we don't really need and it's going to be more expensive for us when we have to go buy everything at once. *sigh* I have one more shower on the 10th if she stays put until then, and maybe we'll get lucky and get some stuff off our registry then...
Congrats Niko's-can't wait for more details and pics. Hope all is going well.
Erinn-Send those contractions my way. I am begging for an induction date tomorrow at my next appointment. I overdid like crazy all weekend with shopping, vacuuming, organizing, scrubbing the shower......NOTHING!!
I'm sooooooo ready to meet my little guy and get this stent out.
Connorsmommy-I could have written your post. I can't keep my hands off Colton these days and keep asking him, "You know Mommy loves you, right?". I hope he doesn't take this new baby too hard....he's been the man in my life for 2.5 years and is such a prince (oh, ya and daddy too, ha ha)

My name is Kelly and I'm an addict...of Zofran. Seriously, I'm getting so frustrated with this. I should know better since I depended on it through my last pregnancy too, but ARGH! I took my last pill on Saturday night thinking I'd be okay since I'm being induced on Wed. No such luck. I got sick last night and am really queasy and nauseous this morning. I called the doctor's office and hopefully they have a sample or something - I don't really want to fill a prescription for 2 pills.
I have an appointment this morning with the surgeon who will do Mackenzie's stomach surgery. Mostly a Q&A session I think.
K got sick yesterday so we're spending our last couple days with him as an only child sleeping and trying to get him healthy. It's nothing major, but he does have a little fever so I'm thinking it's a minor virus.
ds ~ Hope you enjoyed your shower!

Sunshine[/B: The nursery is sooo cute (and girly). :D
[B]Shaq: You had an exciting weekend! Congratulations to your friend! It must have been amazing to participate in the birth when you are so close to your own baby's delivery.

maryanne I'm so happy that you got your shower!! What a great idea for them to do it on your trip!
mystikal Yay for the showers....bummer on the registry! I don't get why people don't use registries, they make it easier for everyone. You get something that you need/want and they don't waste their money on something you don't need/want. I got a lot from my registry, but also had a bunch of people just buy whatever they wanted. There are a still a couple of things on the registry that I could use, while most of those random gifts are sitting on the baby's closet shelf and won't ever get used.:rolleyes:
baby watch I have noticed that Mrsbrownie has been gone for awhile again. And Lilmrs hasn't been here since the 19th. Kaeden'smommy coming up soon!
shaq What an amazing experience! And what great timing for you to see that now. I'm sure it will really be helpful when your turn comes.
Wow ladies.. I have alot to catch up on!!
Nikos: Yeah for the family member!!!! cannot wait to see photos..
Sunshine: Your "nesting" sounds like me.. My dr. wants me to stop working as of Friday.. and I told DH "I am going to steam clean the carpet", "clean my car", "trim the shrubs", "wax the hardwood floors".... he just laughs at me. Your nursery looks great!
Maryanne: Looks like a wonderful party... what a great treat!!!
Amurphy: Cutie belly!!!
Shaq: What an amazing story... just think... now only a few weeks left!
Kaeden: I cannot believe you will be induced in 2 days.. AAHH
Well since Friday is my last day of work I am sure I will be super busy....
Have a good day and sorry to those of you I missed!

wow. . great shower Maryanne. and how much fun that it was at a campground!
sunshine- the nursery looks great! I love the pink walls.
well, my office threw my a shower on Friday. tons of little things not on the registry but they did get my Jeep Liberty all terrain stroller which I was REALLY pumped about. I have been so overwhelmed with everyone's generosity that I barely have to buy anything myself. I am now in a major thank you note backlog though. I think that DH's office is going to do something for him but I'm not sure what or when so we are just moving ahead! I am so ready for this baby to make her appearance!
the rest of my weekend was pretty uneventful. . .expect we traveled to DC yesterday to get DH his Harley for his graduation gift. we left Richmond at 9:30 am and didn't get home until after 6:30. it's only an hour and a half to get there. my feet were swollen, my back hurt, my butt hurt. . pregnancy reality is really hitting home now that I only have one month left to go. I feel like I am never going to get my energy back. it's a scary thing for this first time mom who hasn't been there before. but right now I don't have the energy it would take to take care of an infant. . I am really hoping that just comes back naturally.
only 29 days left for me! I know that's a lot longer than most of you but being under 30 days really throws me for a loop!
happy monday everyone! mrs brownie and lil mrs. . are you still out there???

Congratulations Nikos! I'm looking forward to the birth story (hey, from ALL of you already-had-the-baby ladies please!) and the NAME:D
Karen I have so many of the same feelings about adding the 3rd to our family as you have about 2. 2 was pretty "easy" for us. It just sort of flowed. Now, Rachel and Wyatt are so cute and loving together much of the time. And then they squabble over a toy and Rachel complains that Wyatt is pulling her hair etc and I am confronted with the realities of siblings! I do still make time for each of them individually and I think that helps me feel like they know they are each very special and loved. I am feeling pretty terrified of 3 at the moment, but I'm *hopeful* that things just sort of settle in like last time.
Sunshine Your nursery is beautiful and cheery! Congratulations on finishing it.
Shaq What a wonderful experience to share with your friend. And what a preview . . . .
Maryanne I'm glad you had such a wonderful shower in such a beautiful setting!
Kaeden's Here's hoping you can keep some food down for the next 2 days! You need sustenance!
Mistikal Yay for showers! Sorry they didn't stick to the registry though.
ds Still waiting on that shower report . . . . . .:)
Ryan I'm sure you won't miss the 1.5 hour commute! I hope you get to all those things on your ambitious to-do list!

We had a really busy weekend. Friday was R's end of year school picnic. The school had rented the little train at a park and both kids loved riding it. Sadly, there was a brief cloudburst during one of our rides and I got SOAKED in the (warm) rain. The kids didn't care though!
Saturday we had a birthday party at The Farm, which is a small working farm owned by the city. They had baby everything--sheep, goats, pigs, cow, ducks--and the kids got to get up close and personal with each. There were pony rides (I led one particularly stubborn one!). The kids got to watch the mama cow get milked (4.5 gallons from a particularly efficient pump!!) and then the baby bull calf sucked down a gallon in about 1 minute!
We also headed to the mountains that evening for DH's office picnic. I was beat by the time we got home at 9 pm.
Sunday we had church and then I spent much of the afternoon tilling (I got a blister:( ) and planting our garden. I planted zucchini, green beans, watermelon and pumpkin. I still plan to add tomatos and carrots. Kind of funny how many of us were out in the garden this weekend! It was just so beautiful here!
I hope everone is doing well today! My pelvis feels looser and achier by the day but otherwise, I'm still just pregnant and counting the days til June 21!
eta Shoulda We cross posted. Congrats on getting the stroller and the Harley. You have some nice rides at your house;)

Kaedens -- I'm so sorry about your Zofran issues. If I lived in my home town, I'd take my extra Diclectin (basically the same thing, different name in Canada) pills that I never had to use during this pg and drive straight south to bring them to you this morning... I remember how it was when I was pg with Connor - was totally dependant on my Diclectin right up to the morning he was born. The three times I missed pills or forgot to renew my prescrip back then made life hell for me. :(
Mystikal -- How frustrating about the shower and no purchases off the registry. I remember ending up with 37 washcloths after my shower with Connor...and I wondered what on EARTH would I do with so many (as it turns out, those stupid little washcloths really came in handy, so it wasn't so bad after all). And, if you DO have to buy a lot of big things at once, do look at second hand children's gear at children's consignment shops... and in your local buy&sell papers, etc. Honestly, you can get some really good equipment in perfect condition at about half the price or less...
Shaq -- that was sooo cool of your friend!! I would LOVE to see a birth from the other perspective... :)

me...hanging in there. I'm 36 weeks today. Had some "action" last night (we decided we just couldn't wait another 7 days until I'm full term. LOL). So that was fun.... but now this morning I have a dull achy menstrual-like cramp that isn't letting up. It increases & decreases in intensity once in a while, but it's so gradual that I can't time the intense parts... So, just relaxing and seeing what happens. I think it'll probably go away after a while.
today is holiday Monday here in Canada, so DH is off work. He wants to go the driving range. Me, I just want to relax. Maybe do a bit of shopping (short little run-in/run-out type trips)... but we'll see how I'm feeling. :)
Hope everyone has a fabulous monday!

Back with my weekend update.
DH and DH's best friend and I went out to dinner on Friday night, got some ice cream, and sat around. Nice laid back evening. Then on Saturday, DH and I were up early to run errands. And like a lot of you, we spent most of the day working in the yard/garden. DH built me new flowerboxes, primed and painted them, and I planted them. By the third flowerbox, I had to ask DH for help shoveling the soil into the boxes. My belly was sore. That evening, DH and I went out to dinner and then watched a movie. And I was feeling great, but I got up twice during the night to pee and got really strong pains low down. At one point, I rolled out of bed and had to pause w/ my hand on my knees while the pain passed. I thought DH was going to croak! I'm interested to see if I have any progress at my appointment on Wednesday.
As for baby things, DH put the batteries in the bouncy seat, swing, monitor, and aquarium. Unfortunately, we discovered that the swing is broken! The motor makes a really odd sound. What a pain! I had a much less frustrating time doing baby laundry. Everything smell so good! I think I'll start packing my hospital bag this week.

Don't have too much time to post, but it looks like I might be the next June Mommy to have a baby in May...
We just got back from the u/s with the peri, who confirms the placenta is still covering my cervix. But he's measuring really small (3lbs 8oz) and about a month behind, which they think means the placenta isn't doing it's job, so they want him out today.
So, my DH and I are scrambling around at home trying to pack up, then head back to get admitted. Looks like I'll be having a c-section this afternoon. I'll try to post from the hospital afterwards, but I dont' know if I"ll be able to.
I"m scared, panicked and excited. Please say a prayer for me and my tiny little guy if you have a second...

WARNING: VENT!!!
I called my doctor's office this morning to have them get me a refill of 2 pills of Zofran. I leave my desk to talk to someone and come back to a message from one of the nurses to call back. I talk to her and she tells me they have decided to cancel my induction because the baby will do better with the surgery if she is older (gestational age). My doctor and the surgeon talked this morning and decided this. Okay, I'm fine with the fact that she should be a little older and of course want what's best for the baby, but when were they planning to mention this to me? I didn't ask to be induced - they decided because the surgeon is going on vacation. I actually had an appointment with the surgeon this morning and found out that he will be on vacation but available from May 26th-May 31st and out of state from June 1st-4th. Okay, well, I'm not willing to let my little girl wait 3-5 days for the surgery. I'm waiting for my doctor to call me back. I'll be seeing her on Wednesday and will see if we can instead schedule induction next week before he leaves on vacation. My BP is through the damn roof right now...:mad:

I’m probably going to cross post since this may get long. If so, I’ll be back to catch up. I’m so glad I typed this in Outlook because CC went down just and I went to post. I’m sure I’m behind in the posts now.
Sunshine – the nursery looks great.
Connorsmommy – Great job tackling the USB
Erinn – I’m with you on not ready for the baby yet. We are mentally ready and have the stuff we need. I just want the baby to come close to the due date so I can stay home until September. If the baby comes early I may have to return in August. So my reasons are selfish. Yesterday DH said the baby will be here in 3 weeks.
Shaqangel – what a great experience to be there for your friend.
Belly rubbing – So far I only get it with family and friends. No strangers yet.
Nesting – It really needs to start soon. Our house was clean (except the office ) until the shower on Saturday. Tonight I will finish the clean up.
Maryanne – What a great surprise and gift cards are one of the best gifts ever.
Mystikal – Even though you didn’t get many registry items, the gift card will come in handy and hopefully you can return the stuff you don’t need. I hope you had a good time regardless and have a great time at your next shower.
Kaeden’s mommy – I hope the doc can get you a couple of pills to get you to induction time.
Should a- you had a shower too..that is awesome.
Work shower – that isn’t common around here for babies. We just invited our good work friends to our shower.
Lawyerwife mom – what a busy weekend you had. You must be exhausted today.
Gina – I’m praying that all goes well and the little ones comes out big, strong and healthy. I wish you the best.

Shower update –
We had a great time. My mom and grandma arrive on Friday night. DH and I were supposed to stay in a hotel that night to let everyone setup. SIL and some cousins were supposed to come up that night, but decided to leave Saturday morning. DH didn’t get the back yard cut on Friday since he worked late so we just decided to stay at home that night so we could get up and do stuff around the house. We sent my grandma to the hotel instead (which she preferred). She loves it hot and we keep the house cool so that I am comfortable and to keep the heating bill down.
Fast forward….Shower “started” at 3pm but the food and table décor were stuck in traffic so it was close to 5 (maybe even later) before everything was set up. When I found out that the NJ crew was planning the shower I accepted the fact that the shower would most likely start late. So, when things didn’t go as planned I was okay with things. The food and décor finally made it there. DH had rented a tent, tables and chair for the back yard. We had the food and games on the covered porch. It rained a little bit so I was glad we had the tent. My mom said she counted about 58 different people and probably missed a few. The shower was great. It was more like a house party. We had food, music and alcohol. We did run out of food (I did not anticipate that one), so DH ordered pizza from our favorite spot (I hate chain pizza). We played a couple baby games and then when it got cold we moved into the house and played Taboo and Guestures. Our last guests left about midnight. We had decided beforehand not to open gifts. After the guests left and my mom and SIL went to bed, DH set up the video camera and we opened the gifts. We got a lot of great stuff…The big items were the Maclaren stroller (I so wanted), Convertible car seat, PNP and Avent ISIS IQ DUO breast pump (didn’t expect anyone to buy…thanks MIL). Other stuff we got were 2 monitors (duplicate), 2 booster seats (duplicate), hookon high chair, activity mat, my brest friend, mobile, Baby Einstein videos and other stuff. We did get a lot of stuff off of our registry. We luckily only got a few things that were not on our registry like the Ocean Wonders Rockin’ aquarium Gym, Flutterby Bouncer, Euro Rider baby carrier and a few other small items. The small items are useful things that we will use (books, bibs, frames, safety items) but the other items I may return. A friend works for one of the JnJ companies and bought use tons of JnJ baby products.
Can you believe we only got 3 packages of clothes (2 packs of onesies and 1 pack of side snap t-shirts) and no receiving blankets? Other than this we got some money and gift cards.
I hope that was not too long. We had an awesome time. I’m glad we had the one large coed shower instead of multiple smaller ones.
question How may hooded towels do I really need?
I had 5 before the shower and now have 11. I’m thinking of returning the 6 we got at the shower even though I had registered for 3 of the 6. We also got 2 packs of 12 washclothes…I can’t imagine needing that many. I may return all of those too.

Gina- thinking of you and your baby and definitely sending positive vibes your way. please update us when you can.
kaedens mommy- yeah, that would make me upset too. doctors are in their own little world sometimes. I left a message for my doctor at 6am this morning and still haven't heard back. granted, that must mean my issue isn't important but still. . .
ds- sounds like an awesome shower! holy smokes! and you stayed up past midnight??? you are my hero. . I am asleep on the couch by 10:00pm if DH is lucky!
quick question-- anyone considering using a moses basket instead of a bassinet? anyone have any good or bad experiences to report??
ETA- DS, I only kept 4 or 5 hooded towels I think. I got that suggestion off BRU website so I figure they have to be shooting high since they are retail anyway.

gina definitely praying for you and your little.
ds, maryann, mystikal glad your showers were fun!
hooded towels i have 4. i'm not sure how many u need, but 4 seemed like plenty to me!
sorry i'm missing a ton others but i'm trying to desperately wrap up my projects cos i want to start my leave a little earlier!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
watching my friend give birth was definitely a good experience. the only time i got kinda freaked out was when she was getting stitched up. i couldnt handle that part! she had 2nd degree tears. her first 2 babies were like 6 pounds and some and this one came in at 8 and half!!!
Maryanne- I soooooo called it!!! I'm goign to have to track down that post where I mentioned that the camping trip could be a shower.
Sunshine the room looks gorgeous and so girly!
Nikos- Can't wait to hear the stats and THE NAME!!
Congratulations on your little boy!
Shaq- That is so neat that you got see a birth of a child a couple of weeks before you are due. Congratulations to your friends. Also so weird tohear about the stork and abductions. I think they are putting one up in my office when the baby is born but he won't be hanging out there anyways.
Sorry I am only 1/2 arsing my shout outs today. I feel like absolute crap all weekend. I have been having a TON of practice contractions. Also Collin has been pushing off my rib cage with his feet and his head feels like it is just going to come out at any moment. He is definitely getting too big for Mom and I think I can feel myself dilating!
Anywho... I have some fun news. Since yesterday was the 21st I can officially say that I only have a couple of weeks left!! How great is that. I was thinking about what my OB said at my last appointment. He measured me at 2-3 weeks ahead (edd 6/7-14 if that is correct?). So the baby might already be full term size!! How freaky is that.
Oh and I think if anytime is as good as any....
KEGELS REMINDER!!! NEW MOMMAS TOO!:p
Kaeden’s mommy – I’m sorry for the frustration. How many days after birth will she need the operation?
Shoulda – I some how managed to stay up past midnight after being on my feet all day. After everyone left and before my mom and SIL went to bed, DH gave me a leg and foot massage while we all talked. I love foot massages. My ankles were swollen but not much more than they usually get. My feet were fine the next day so DH’s massage must have worked some magic.
Moses basket – I considered it for a hot second. All the ones I read about said that it was not recommended to hold the basket by the handles so I decided against it. I do think a portable bed of some sort is nice to use in other rooms of the house.
Thanks for the Kegel reminder Lil_Mrs.
DH and I went to our last Bradley class yesterday. As I mentioned some time ago are only 1 of 2 couples. Well we get to our instructors house yesterday and it seems odd to us that the other couple (D & J) are not there yet. They almost always beat us there. The house is dark so we think that we missed a call to cancel the class. DH says “They had the baby”. I’m thinking that he is crazy and we have either gotten the class date wrong or the house is out of power. Anyhow, we get in the instructor tells us that D & J had a little girl 4 days earlier. DH was right. He then tells me that we are having our baby in 3 weeks. That puts us at June 11 which is the wrong answer since we have plans that weekend.
ds ~ The surgery should be 24-36 hours after birth. There is only 1 surgeon who does this on children and he will be on vacation during prime time for me to go into labor - May 29-June 6. If she's born during that time she could have to wait 4-5 days for surgery which is not acceptable. I will not allow them to make all the decisions for my child without even consulting me or DH about it.
Gina: many thoughts & prayers for you & your baby. Update us when you get a chance.
I go to the doctor tomorrow for my 36 wk appt. I get to take him my short term disability paperwork to fill out. :D
I have been having contractions on & off all weekend. Maybe something is going on down there - I will update again after my appt tomorrow.
QOTD: Do you have a day set up that will be your last work day, are you working up until your doctor tells you to stop or until you just go into labor?
Gina - OMG!! Good luck -- we'll be thinking of you and can't wait to hear an update! HOpefully their measurements are far off... keeping you in my thoughts/prayers
DS - that sounds like a fun shower!! As for the hooded towels. We had 4 I think, and they got used a little but hardly at all. We preferred to dry Connor off after a bath with a regular SOFT bath towel... and he was much warmer when bundled in those. If I were you, yes, I'd return the extras and stay with the original 5 (or, keep the unopened packages as 'extras' for future baby gifts for others... lol!). As for the wash cloths... I vote keep 'em... They really are much more useful than a hooded towel. I mentioned earlier that I had 37 of them... and honestly, they always came in handy - keep a few in the diaper bag for quick spit up clean up... food clean up when they start eating.... as a quick bib when they need to be given bright red medicine (not sure why but the couple times Connor did need medicine as a baby, it only came in a bright red colour)... and, esp. for CD'ers. they can also be used as bum wipes for easy to clean up poops. Plus most of those washcloths are just thin and tiny pieces of fabric. You'll end up losing them here or there... and occasionally one will get so stained you won't want to use it again so it's a quick toss in the garbage.
LOL... bet you didnt' think one could have so much to say about baby washcloths. LOL!
Kaedens - I'm sorry to hear that they're rescheduling things behind your back and not letting you know what's going on. :( I hope you get a good firm date soon so that you don't have to worry about the baby being born while the surgeon is away.
Gina: THinking happy thoughts for you!!
Kaeden: sorry about all the frustration....
QOTD: Last day is Friday...:).... then I am on disability
Lawyer: I will not miss that 1.5 hour commute.. :D
DS: YOU HAD me laughing so hard... I am with you 150%... we got SO Many hooded towels, and washcloths (we got 30 something washcloths... ) and we too did not recieve any recieving blankets...we went out and bought some this weekend... Sounds like you had a blast which is how it should be!!!
Connors: we crossed post... hmm good idea about the washcloths.. never thought of keeping them for spit up... that puts a new spin on my washcloth dilemma! Good idea!
QOTD: :D I finished work on March 31 (just under 29 weeks) and am SOOO glad I did... April was a busy (and very productive month). May has been a little slower with the preterm labour scare...but still productive in a slower way... So THIS time around, I actually feel much more prepared to have the baby. I'm getting more sleep (even if broken up into 3 hour chunks), getting more time with my son, and I think we're a happier family because of all this. :D
eta: I qualified for sickness EI benefits (unemployment) which I will continue to collect until Dawson arrives. Then I will get 15 weeks of Maternity benefits and 35 of parental benefits. So I'm guaranteed this EI income until two weeks before Dawson's 1st birthday. So, luckily for me, going back to work earlier just b/c I quit work earlier isn't a factor. Though, I WILL have to start job searching before he turns a year old simply b/c I had been working on a contract that ended and I won't have a job to go back to. So if the "right" job comes along earlier than Dawson's first birthday, I'll probably head back to the work world then (but I WON'T do that unless he's at least 8-9 months old)
QOTD- I am working up until labor nut we are getting temp in within the next week or so. I will train that person and then I will have flexible hours and just be doing odd jobs around the office until the baby is born.
Hooded towels- I think we got 4-5 of them and maybe double that in wash cloths.
washcloths and hooded towels Surprisingly, these two things get more use now than when the babies were tiny.
The washcloths really didn't get much use around here until we started solids. Now, I often with I had more (I probably have 10ish) because they are perfect for cleaning messy little faces and sticky hands before they escape from the table. And Rachel also likes to have one to hold over her eyes when we (oh the horror!) have to wash her hair.
Hooded towels also didn't get that much use on my infants because they somehow didn't seem substantial enough for the tiny little baby. But now, we use them for both kids. When they get out of the bath, I put the hood on their head and dry them off and then they run around the room with the towel as a cape. And they can wrap themselves up in them without dropping them on the floor since they are hooked on their heads! Since they get bathed just about every day (we only bathe infants every 3 days) the towels come in handy. I think I have 6 or 8 of them and I definitely thought I had way too many at the beginning. I don't know that I would miss them if I never had them, but I do like them now.
Kaeden's what is their proposed alternative? I would be very frustrated in your situation. I hope you are able to work something out that makes you comfortable!
Gina what a scary situation to be confronted with so suddenly. I will definitely offer up a prayer for your family. You will be meeting your little guy so soon!
Hi everyone! Wow, lots going on since my last visit. First of all congrats sarahncraig and nikosmommy!!! How exciting that babies are arriving!
A few s/o's that I can remember:
kaeden's: ugh, that's frustrating. I hope you can figure out an induction date that will work for you.
gina: thinking and praying for you and your little one! I hope everything goes smoothly today.
ds, mystikal, shoulda: congrats on your showers! The whole registry thing is a bit of a predicament I agree. Hopefully everything will come together in the end.
I'm sorry to everyone I've missed. I get interrupted so many times I can't remember which post belongs to whom...
QOTD: I'm working 'til the bitter end. :) Actually, it's not bad. I've taken an afternoon or a Friday off as I've needed it, and since I'm planning to be a SAHM it doesn't really matter. I'll get paid for maternity leave 'til the vacation/sick time runs out which even with the days I've been taking off should still be around 12 weeks. I tend to feel guilty if I'm not working, so hopefully that feeling will go away once the baby comes.
Update: I had an appt at the hospital this morning since the doc now considers me overdue (:rolleyes: ). The NST and BPP were pretty interesting. I had to be monitored for quite a while for the NST because the baby was so hyper. Finally calmed down long enough to get the info they needed and then they let me go. It was good for me to be in the hospital though because I've never spent time in a hospital so I've been a little nervous about that. They said everything looked fine, although I did have some contractions. And now I know that what I've been feeling since Friday really are contractions. No rhyme or rhythm yet, but at least something is hopefully going on down there. I have to do this again Thursday. Can you say "overkill"?
Still feeling pretty good, but I am definitely ready now to meet this little one. I'm just really concerned that I'm going to go past my original due date of 6/2 and then they're going to try to force me to be induced. I really want to have the chance for a non-medicated birth, so I DON'T WANT TO BE INDUCED. I'm still thinking this Friday would be a good day to go into labor (hoping, hoping, hoping).
Here's a pic from the ultrasound they took today...about 2 seconds later the thumb popped into the mouth and little guy/girl started sucking away! DH thought that was pretty cool. (The white spot is a piece of tape- it was the beginning of the roll of paper I guess.)
QOTD – I will work right up until labor or the doctor tells me to stop.
Kaedensmommy – I agree you need to put your foot down. There is no reason why they should take the chance of her being born while the doctor is on vacations.
Connorsmommy – you make a good point. Maybe I’ll open one package of washcloths and open the others later if I find them useful The little washcloths will be easier to use on their little body parts. We are cloth diapering and have over 40 wipes already for that. I even have some colored ones to use for the spit up and cleaning dirty hands. .Okay..I’m taking the extra 6 towels back.
Ryan – I’m very surprised that we did not receive any receiving blankets. We actually have none and do need some. I’ll add them to my shopping list.
Lawyerwifemom – didn’t think about the towels as capes. That is pretty cute.
Congrats nikos!!!!!!!
gina73I'll be praying for you and your little one. You'll both be in my thoughts.
We had our shower yesterday. It went well. It was with my side of the family. Since my inlaws didn't want to combine both showers and wanted them seperate. I don't get it. I thought after marriage we're suppose to be one big happy family. :confused: Anyway, my shower last weekend with the inlaws MIL was pretty rude to my mom. And so yesterday my mom pretty much ignored MIL the entire time. While I was opening gifts, etc. MIL sat by herself while all my family talked. It was pretty akward. Than after the gift openings MIL got up and told me FIL was picking her up and she'd see me later. And fled out of there only to stand in the driveway smoking till FIL got there. You could tell she just did not want to be there.
Aside from that things were great. The food was yummy!!! Almost everyone showed up. I got to see family and friends that I haven't seen in a long time. We got some big ticket items off our registry. The travel system and pack n play. The baby monitor. And lots and lots of clothes. Also some toys. Which is fun for me and DH!!!!! :D We're like to big kids sometimes.
I'll be leaving work in about an hour here for my strep test and internal exam. I'm 36 weeks and 2 days now. Hopefully we'll see some progress after tonights appointment. And today is our anniversary! 2 years of being married! :D So we also have some dinner reservations tonight. Pretty exciting for a Monday I must say.
QOTDI'm going to TRY to work till I deliver. Unless the dr. tells me otherwise or until I just can't seem to take it anymore. I want to save as much time as possible to spend with the baby.:)
Shaq: We registered for a pack n' play and a moses basket. I'm planning on primarily using the moses basket and saving the pack & play for overnight trips away from home. My sister is 12 years younger than me and I vividly remember my Mom using the moses basket all the time. (And I checked my registry and saw that someone bought us our moses basket this weekend :D )
DS: Sounds like your shower was a huge success!
Jen: Your MIL is a piece of work. I'm glad her behavior didn't run your shower and we were able to enjoy yourself!
QOTD: I'm planning on working until I go into labor. Although my doc asked me during my last two visits if I wanted her to cut my hours. It is tempting....
My coworker, with the EDD of 5/27, worked her last day in the office on Thursday. She has a long commute and went 5 days early with her first so she figured she should work from home until her due date. Well, she had her baby last night! That is a reality check for me!!!
Ryan: Did you get your Quinny yet? My Dad and sister are going to Germany for the World Cup and promised to bring me home a Zapp. How cool is that?!
Just popping in for CONGRATS to Niko's, PINK and Sarah!! How awesome you have your little ones and they are doing great! HUGS!!
Been having strong piercing contractions since saturday, they are sporatic but very strong and breathtaking. I'm having more discharge but no bloody show yet. My dr said to take it easy and hopefully I will make it to friday and my u/s appt. We are done with the nursery and i'll have pics soon and have all the stuff put together(swing stroller etc). Had the car seats installed by the fire dept saturday, so we are ready to rock and roll. My family and friends have bets that he will be here by memorial day. We shall see I suppose!
Gotta run, SO's later!!
gina Thinking of you....I hope your little one is okay!
kaeden'smommy Yuck...hope you get this mess figured out.
baby washcloths I got a total of 36 at my shower, but only two towels. Then when I tried to buy a few more towels, I couldn't find any that weren't sold as a set w/ more washcloths. So now we have about 40 washcloths. I divided them up between my changing table (to use as a little protective cover so I don't get peed on during diaper changes), diaper bag, PNP changing table, and bathroom. I figured they're always good for cleaning up messes, spit-up, drool, or using as a burp cloth.
jenb and ds2003 Glad you had great showers!
qotd I stopped working at the end of March, right along with Connorsmommy.
I'm dying for more baby pics and birth stories!!
I WAS SO GOING TO ASK YOU THAT SAME QUESTION this morning.. but my brain forgot :o .. anyway.. my cousin wrote me about 2 weeks ago and said she ordered it and that it would be shipped to her (in Canada) and then she would ship it to me... so I am assuming I will recieve it either this weekend or next weekend.. and when I do I will be sure to give you info... I cannot wait to use it... wish I was able to right away...
I talked to my doctor and she said the surgeon is the one who changed his mind. He said he would rather have her be a little bigger when she's born so she will better handle the surgery. I voiced my concerns to my doctor about the possibility of delivering on 5/31 and he won't be around until the 5th to do the surgery. That is the worst-case scenario. She thinks we should plan an induction for June 2nd which would allow for testing on the weekend and the surgery could be done on the 5th when he's back. My only concern is if I were to go into labor before that. DH and I will talk about it and meet with my OB on Wednesday to make some decisions. I am happy with my doctor on this, but the surgeon (although a very nice, capable surgeon) is annoying me a little bit. I do have to say that I appreciate they are looking at Mackenzie's best interests in regards to the surgery rather than playing it really safe and delivering her early. Just wish this would've been set from the beginning rather than changing 2 days before a scheduled induction.
Ah, yes, how could I forget - we ALSO used the washcloths at EVERY change to put over Connor so he wouldn't pee while naked and pointing UP! LMAO! Well, he WOULD pee....but the cloth woudl help soak some of it up...and deflect it all down. Just another reason to have lots of washcloths with boys!!
Kelly-so sorry you have to worry about this in addition to the surgery itself. It's so frustrating to not have any control over what happens to your body. I am also worried about having the baby over Memorial Day weekend and not having the urology specialist around to treat my problem before I leave the hospital.I was originally supposed to be induced this week and OB changed her mind and I cried!! I hope you and DH all come to an arrangement you are comfortable with.
Gina-Thinking of you, hope that baby is bigger than they think, good luck!
QOTD-working up until the end. I actually worked on the day I was induced with DS since I had to go in the evening and didn't want to sit around worrying about it. I will hopefully get an induction date tomorrow and with the Monday holiday, this is probably my last week. Thank God, I've had it!!
Hello all :D
I tried to post earlier but little man started to cry. We're home and doing fine.
Here's our story. I like to call it The Perfect Birth.
We got to the hosp at 10 to 7. I was in my room by 7:30 and hooked up to an IV by 8. They had the pitocin dripping about 5 minutes later. My dr was already there so she stopped in and checked me, I was still 4 but 80% effaced. Shortly after she checked me, I got my epi. I really wasn't struggling from the contractions, but I wanted it on board for later. As the dr finished up with the epi my dr came back in to break my water and that is when a little bit of panic set in. There was no going back.
At 10 she checked me again and I was only 5. Two hours and I changed 1 cm :/ I knew I was going to be there a while. The contractions were now 2.5 minutes apart and they were getting intense. They started to feel like very extreme menstrual cramps so they gave me more meds through the epi tube.
At 12:45 they checked me again and I was only 6. So now I know it's going to take FOREVER. 1 cm every 2 hours, we were here for the long haul.
At 1:25 my dr comes in to check me again. I WAS 10 CM. I went 4 cm in less than 45 minutes. I was so tired that I thought she meant 100% effaced but not completely dilated so I didn't really get excited. I asked what that meant, and she looked at me and said with shock in her voice, it's time to have a baby, let's push. Then it hit me, I was ready. They set up a mirror for me to watch.
With Nikolas I pushed for 3.5 hours so I was psyching myself up for the long haul. In this hosp, they consider every contraction a push. In that push, they do 3 counts of 10. They have me start pushing at 1:31.
THE PERFECT BIRTH: After my 3rd push the dr said, he'll be here on the next push. I'm thinking, yeah right, the next push. Well the next push comes, and out comes his head.
Girls, I pushed for 6 minutes (4 sets) and was done :eek: I couldn't believe it :eek: I'm still in shock. 6 minutes. I didn't even break a sweat. To me, that's the perfect birth.
He was born at 1:37, weighed 7 lbs 14 oz (Belm was a little off), was 20.5 inches long, apgars 8/9
She didn't break down the bed so when he did finally come out, he was on the bed with me. They lifted him up and put him on my chest while I balled like a baby myself.
I couldn't believe it. After 9 months, 1 surgery, GD, and tons of drama, worry over a repeat of Niko's birth, our little man was finally here.
Brian was a trooper through all of this. He didn't want to be there when he came out, but he stayed. I think he did, cause I think he also thought the dr was bs'ing when she said the next push cause right after that, he said, "I need to go sit down" and he looked a little pale :D
They took him, cleaned him up and then brought him back over. I stayed in L&D for about 2 hours and then we went upstairs. Brian went home shortly after to check on Nikolas. They came back later that evening and Nikolas was such a good boy. He immediately tried to hold him and kept giving him kisses.
We got home today and are so glad to be here. He's nursing like a champ although I'm still having pain. He hardly cries and has slept pretty well through the nights. If he stays like this, then we'll be good to go.
As for me, I'm ok. A little sore, like a bad menstruation, but nothing horrible. I did tear a little and it took a few stitches, but she said it isn't that bad. And being I didn't push that long, I only have 1 rhoid, and that was from before the birth.
The next post will have pictures.
Nikos ~ What's his name?! I'm so glad L&D went well for you this time. I hope my pushing is short and sweet this time - I pushed 2 1/2 hours with K.
That is just crazy (((nikos))))) ! After such a crazy pregnancy, I can't believe that it ended so easily. Congrats on the perfect birth!
I was going to wait but I can't do that to you all. You'd be in Delaware to kick some butt :D
We said we'd name him after we saw him. Well that didn't work out all that well cause he looks like Nikolas when he was born, with the exception that Nikolas had darker hair and he has blonde hair.
We just kept calling him no name :/ Last night I called Brian and said pick a number, 1, 2 or 3. In my head, I had Troi as 1, Jaedon as 2, and Nathan as 3, but didn't tell Brian that. He says 1 and I said Troi. He says, "how do I know that was 1 and not you just changing it?"
Girls, I've lost sleep over this :/ So we agreed that when Nikolas & Brian came to the hosp to get me, we'd put the 3 names each on a sheet of paper and let Nikolas pick it out. Very scientific :D
Well while we're shaking the paper, Brian is repeating out loud, Troi or Nathan. In my head, I'm repeating Troi or Jaedon. Nikolas picks out a piece of paper and for a moment my heart sinks but I agreed to this.
Please help me welcome Troi Michael to the world.
We immediately called everyone and you could tell in their voices who liked it and who didn't. Oh well, he's our baby.
