Dan’s girl – I was going to suggest heat rash too, but I’ve never gotten one with little white bumps. Could you be reacting to something you touched or ate? If it gets worse I would call the doc/mw and ask.

Ramona No idea, sorry :( I too thought heat rash, but mine is always red. You should call the dr today and find out. Let us know.

Ramona, Are they water blisters or was it yucky stuff when you scratched one open? I have gotten a heat rash type of thing with water blisters before...

Dan's girl:??? I wish I could help, but I have no idea what it could be. :confused:
NikosMom: Thanks! We were just outside of Charllotsville--by UVA.It was beautiful...but a pain to get to! Your "perfectionism/anal" comments made me laugh. I can certainly identify with you....that is why I painted the nursery. My motto seems to be: "I like it how I like it." :p
swelling: I was so worried about swelling while in VA. Thankfully, my feet/ankles made it through 6 hours of high heels before they pulled a "Flintstone" on me. I went to my hotel room at 12:20 a.m. to switch into flip flops and managed to make it through the last hour of the wedding reception.

I am exhausted today. In a good way though! I think I posted last week about how we were expecting MIL, two SILs, BIL, and one SIL's boyfriend to visit this weekend. Well, they did.... and so did the ENTIRE rest of the family with the exception of FIL (who already had plans for the weekend). They brought a baby shower to us! What a surprise that was. We had SIL and her boyfriend staying here, so they arrived Friday night. Everyone else showed up all at once on Saturday. We had NO CLUE that anything like that was in the works. We have no family here, so they came from Kansas City, St. Louis, and Portland, OR--a total of 12 people, 3 of whom are under 3 years old. I think that had I not been in such complete shock I would've been crying when I saw all of them standing there. They brought lunch with them, as well as a cake and presents--including the quilt, which is gorgeous (I just keep staring at it). We spent most of the weekend either here at our house or at the hotel where everyone else was staying. With 3 kids who take naps at different times and go to bed early, we really couldn't go out anywhere. We did manage to have dinner out on Saturday though.
So that was my weekend. The house is a wreck now (after we stayed up late Thursday night and had a looong day on Friday to get it clean), and we got home this morning after 3:30 from hanging out with some of DH's siblings at the hotel, so I feel like I should be cleaning when I really just want to sleep. Although it might have been nice to have some warning of what was happening, I must say I feel very loved. I truly do have wonderful ILs. :)

How did I miss the hamhock feet and vienna toes comment?
Ladyj – what a pleasant surprise for you and DH.
Please add my June 1st appt to the list. I’ll be 37 weeks and will have my Strep B test then. I will have to remember to tell the doc to not check my cervix…just swab and be done.

no time to really post cos i am swamped at work but just wanted to vent (is that okay :o ) my work shower is scheduled for next friday (the 12th) and since people know that i am getting close i keep getting asked when my shower is and apparently some of my co-worker friends are getting asked too. well no one knew who was planning it (i did but they didnt want to ask me details about it since its my shower). so today i was chatting with my friend J and she says 'so i know that the shower is next friday and people keep asking me about it. i dont understand why L wont send out the invites, so i asked her and she says she is only planning to do so on FRIDAY, cos she doesnt want people to forget about it'
YIKES - is she crazy. so J went to her today and told her she needs to get the invites out cos people keep asking for information about it and they need time to plan. L says 'well i dont want to send it too early cos they'll forget.'
apparently they're going out on wednesday. i know this is crazy, but it drives me insane when i have no control over stuff - and yea i have these crazy pg hormones to boot so its aint fun!
okay vent over....not much to report except i was terribly itchy this week-end and not really my belly but all over. thats about it.
glad those of you who had showers had a great time!

Hello again :)
ladyjg What a nice surprise for you.
shaqangel Sorry about the shower problems. Doesn't the host know you really can't invite the same day so people have time to buy you stuff? Maybe J could just tell L that she's going to send out a pre-invite or a save the date.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, I painted the trim and trimmed up the windows and doors. Granted my back is killing me and my butt hurts, but it is trimmed the way I want it and that's all that matters :p I even painted far away enough from the edges so Brian can't mess up my trim. All Brian has to do now is roll between the lines and we're good to go.
I'm so FREGGIN EXCITED that it's finally coming together. All we need is the stuff for the baby and we're good to go, I can have him then :D
Shaq: You should be venting! When does your coworker think people are going to buy your gift if they receive the invitation only a few hours before the shower?! And what about people's calendars getting filled with meetings. I don't know about your workplace, but my days get booked with meetings days in advance. :rolleyes: :eek:
Just got back from my work shower. It was really nice and there was a good turnout. We got our swing, bouncy seat, three crib sheets, newborn bottle set, and the monitor! :D
Dan'sgirl- I would check something like webmd.com to see if you can match up your symptoms to anything. It will usually give you a guess and tell you at which point you should go to the ER or the doc.
Lady- That is so sweet that your family came to you for your shower! Sounds like you had a lot of fun!
Shaq- Has this girl at least called everyone to give them a head's up there is a shower that day and to expect an invitation? I have never heard of putting off the invitations so that people won't forget.
Nikos- Yay for getting the paint up!
Hey girls! I'm not up to a whole update, but I'll work on it tomorrow.
Yesterday morning I woke up with contractions again and went back to the hospital. They kept me until this afternoon. Good news is Mackenzie and I are both fine (and she's still baking).
Congrats to those who had productive weekends!
Hi Ladies. Nothing much new to report around here- I've just been reading along.
I had an appt the end of last week. I've hit the 20 pound mark. I'm hoping I don't gain too much more weight. The doc I saw was absolutely no help at all- he's my least favorite in the group. All he said about my ultrasound was that it hadn't really changed from before. What that means, I have no idea. Hopefully I'll see someone else next time and get a few questions answered.
Dan'sgirl: The only thing I can think of is a yeast infection on the skin. The only reason I say that is because Mia had a bad breakout of yeast on her skin when all of the drooling started and it was red and white.
amurphy Glad you had a great work shower!
lilmrs It was my BRU registry that was all screwed up.
ladyjg How nice of your DH's family to surprise you like that!
shaq I'd be stressing, too. It's silly of this girl to hold onto the invitations so that people don't forget. These are grown, responsible adults. How can they forget an event that's less than two weeks away? They need time to make plans and buy you a gift.
dansgirl I have no idea what it could be, but I hope you feel better soon.
Question: Are you having problems with heartburn and what are you taking?
I'm having KILLER heartburn. I've tried watching what I eat, but I seem to get it no matter what. The TUMS just aren't cutting it anymore.
Question #2: Are you buying a gift for the hostess of your shower? If so, what are you getting her?
Hi there ladies! My, my my, much to catch up on…
Pink, jbenny and amurphy - sounds like you all had wonderful showers! Congrats on scoring all of your loot! I’m glad you had a great time.
ladyjg - what a great surprise! Sounds like you had a wonderful shower and time with your family.
DS - ouch on the groin pain! I hope you’re feeling better…
Lil Mrs - great belly shots! If it’s OK, I’m stealing your progression idea - it’s a fantastic one.
Dan’s Girl - I’ve heard of rashes that look like blisters developing in stretch marks while you’re pregnant, but that doesn’t sound like what you’ve got. Let us know what your doctor says tomorrow - I hope you’re feeling better.
Kaeden’s Mommy - whoa! Tell that little girl of yours to stay put!
OK, I haven’t posted any photos for a while, but here was my 31w0d photo taken about a week and a half ago:
Our nursery furniture arrived on Wednesday! Well, the bulk of it. The glider and ottoman were the wrong stain, and only days later did the salesperson tell us the particular glider we ordered does not come in a stain that matches the rest of our furniture. So we had to find another one and get it ordered. Hopefully since it was the store's error, they can pay to expedite this for us so we can have it all here before the baby arrives. In the meantime, the store is going to give us the one that doesn't match just in case the other glider doesn't get here in time.
All that being said, the crib and dresser are beautiful! Thursday night (after I spent some fun time washing all of the bed linens), we set up the crib (mattress, mobile and all) for our little guy. Now we need to spend some time thinking about how to decorate it with shelves and such. So, even though it's a work-in-progress, I'll go ahead and post some photos!
Thanks for letting me vent girls....i dont know what L's deal is....oh just to clarify, the shower is set for 12 May and she wants to send the invites out 5 May which in my and everyone else's opinion is too late. alot of the men here dont shop for showers, their wives do so for them and many people contribute to larger group gifts so the people at my office like to have advance notice. and amurphy you're right everyone's calenders fill up SO quickly - i mean my May calender looks nuts right now. and these are grown ups so how can they forget. also, email reminders are always sent out for any event here at the office the day before and the day the event so i just dont get her. i'm still irritated about it but i cant do anything since its not in my hands. apparently she's now sending out the invites t'row.
Lil Mrs & gina great belly shots! u both look awesome!
Gina love the nursery set up and the furniture looks great.
Kaeden’s Mommy tell you little one she needs to stay put a while longer!!!
Pink, jbenny, amurphy, ladyjg so glad u had such awesome showers.
NikosMommy glad the painting is getting done, even if u have to do some of it yourself!
Question: Are you having problems with heartburn and what are you taking?
on and off - sunday was kinda bad. i dont get it every day but its annoying when i do. i usually take tums and have a glass of milk (which really helps a whole lot)
Question: Are you having problems with heartburn and what are you taking?
Heartburn, thankfully hasn't been TOO bad for me in this third trimester this time. For me, I just eat a LOT of tums or Rolaids (I prefer these over tums)
As for milk, that also works like a charm. In my first pg, I was craving orange juice every morning, so I'd have a huge glass. Then I'd bring half a litre of milk to work and drink that for the first hour or so to kill the heartburn the OJ caused. LOL!
Speaking of milk.... yesterday, I just could not get ENOUGH of the stuff. Two bowls of cereal in the morning..... then I had two huge glasses of chocolate milk at lunch, two huge glasses of chocolate milk at supper... and then two more huge glasses of white milk in the evening. I bought 16 litres of milk on Friday (ok, 8 of those litres were homo milk for Connor), and I'm pretty sure I blasted through at least 4 litres of the 1% milk yesterday -- it was insane!!
************
Off to my 33 week ob appt this morning. I'm thinking of asking for an internal to find out what's going on inside -- I had random menstrual crmaping yesterday, LOTS of BH's (esp at night), shooting pains down my urethra throughout the day but mostly in the morning. I think either I have a UTI or somethings going on.... either way, I need to know and find out what we can do to keep Dawson in at least a few more weeks...
*************
threadmistress, next update you can add the following:
May 17 - 35 week appt.
May 24 - 36 week appt.
May 31 - 37 week appt.
(I can't believe that next week is my last week of NOT having an OB appt.... crazy!)
Good morning!
It looks like Mackenzie will be staying put a little longer at least. To make a very long story short I'll just post a little of it here - the full story is in my journal if you're interested.
I woke up to contractions on Sunday morning. I was also vomiting and hadn't eaten so I was only vomiting water. The contractions were much stronger than the night before and were 3-5 minutes apart. The birth center had me come in for monitoring. They decided to keep me and do some bloodwork, a bio-physical profile, etc. They also gave me another shot of Breathine (sp?) which didn't touch the contractions this time. So, they moved me to another room and said they'd hook me up to magnesium sulfate and keep me at least overnight until my doctor could see me. It was a miserable night, but I lived. ;) My doctor told me yesterday that I could come home and go about my usual routine - no bed rest! She feels confident that the vomiting made my contractions come on so strong. My cervix didn't change from the contractions on Sunday morning so I'm still 1 1/2-2 cm.
Tomorrow is my Level II u/s at 7:30am. Not sure when I'll get to update as we have to go to MSP for the appointment which is a 4 hour drive. Plus, DH has an appointment with his orthopedic surgeon for a 2-year check on his knee. I'll try to bring the laptop and update in the morning.
Morning All :D
THE PAINTING IS DONE :D I'm so happy. Brian finished it last night when I went to bed. I haven't seen it yet, but it's done. I called the people giving us the furniture last night and we'll have it by Sat :D I think we're going to put Nikolas in the big room either tonight or tomorrow night so he can get used to it.
Heartburn: I use Zantac 150. The dr said it's ok and it does help. She also said I can take the tums in between.
Frozen Meals: I forgot who mentioned this, but I did a lasagna so far. I'm also going to do a chicken tetrazini. I do know that hamburger helper doesn't freeze very well :o
erinn Sorry you didn't get better answers at your appt. Can you call and ask for a dr you like to call you back and talk to you?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So Niko and I have a busy day planned. We're going to TRU to get diapers for the baby, 2 birthday gifts, and possibly this swimming thing for Nikolas - it has floaties sewn into it and it's like a body suit. It's supposed to help him in the pool.
Then we have to go to WalMart to see about getting more material so I can make another set of curtains for his room. He's going from one window to two.
I then need to do some grocery shopping and get some stuff frozen for when everyone leaves us alone and I need to cook.
Then when I get home, I'm going to get out the 0-3 month clothes and get them hung.
So I need to motivate. Hope everyone has a good day.
Kaeden: Glad to hear all is working out... :)
Gina: You look so great.. so cute!!!
Heartburn: I can take Pepcid (which I have done a few times)... but I must say the only heartburn I get (for the most part) is when I eat Chocolate.. strange I know.. but it is true. I can eat onions/peppers/ horserdish.... and nothing.. just w/ the chocolate. I guess my mom had the same thing...
Shaq: Sorry about all the chaos w/ the shower.. I am sure everything will work out... and if it does not..you are going on maternity leave soon so you can forget about her... :p
Connors: Pain in the uretha... I have been having this alot lately too.. and I had no idea what it could be.. keep me posted on your results....

I will do S/O's later but I just wanted to pop in for a minute. I'm about to take my aunt to the Dr. I wanted to sleep late so bad today. My stomach was hard and hurt and my hips and back hurt all day yesterday too, it was awful. Definately the worst day pain wise. It was lifting all those damn groceries and I had to lift a crapload of trash this morning because DH forgot (I guess) and it was the second time he "forgot" so it was really piling up. I hope I don't have a repeat of yesterday. Something so gross happened yesterday too. I was peeing and I guess I had held it too long and it really gushed out. When I went back in the living room and sat down the whole back of one side of my skirt was soaked, I had peed out the toilet!!!!! Oh the humiliations of pregnancy, how does a GIRL even do that?
I also made a 2 tier diaper cake yesterday for my sister's co-worker. I asked Dh to email me pics today so if he doesn't "forget" I will show you my handiwork! They usually turn out so much better but I had not done one in about a year and it just didn't look right this time.
Be back later...

Warning: Complaining ahead....
My baby is jammed SO far up in my ribs/boobs that it hurts to sit or stand! My belly is hard--last night the baby kept pushing his or her butt up against my stomach and it kept going and going. I had to stand up to stop it. The indigestion is killing me and the TUMS is not doing its job. My husband had to sleep in the guest room last night because of my snoring and I hate sleeping without him next to me (plus, I feel like an ogre). Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. :( :( :(
On a funny note, when I told DH that my coworkers bought us the swing AND the bouncer he asked which one I wanted to return. Guess he doesn't understand that we registered for both because we want both. :rolleyes:
Lil_Mrs_0702
05-02-2006, 08:53 AM
Gina- How dare you steal my progression!! :p I don't mind at all. I also make them for some people too.
Shaq- Maybe you can have one of your frustrated coworkers confirm the date and time and send it out in Outlook or whatever it is you guys use. For my work shower my boss sent out an invite a month in advance with a reminder the day before and put flyers up.
Kaeden's- Glad she is hanging out in there a little longer. Sorry for all of your scares. I don't know how you all survive through those scares!
Niko- Another huge YAY for painting being done! I bet you are excited to get things finally done and ready for your little guy? BTW- Did you ever figure out a name? I know you have had it down to one or two a couple of times but not sure if you had officially picked one out.
Pink- OMG too funny! I have the opposite problem... I run to the bathroom and then can't go or it is a lousy 2 drops and a waste of my time.
amurphy- Gotta love DHs! Mine is the same way, I love his confused excitement. When we were registering for stuff at Target he kept wanting to buy the stuff that I was registering for. I had to keep reminding him that we are registering for it because we need it and want to give other people a chance to buy stuff for us.
Also I hear ya on all the awkward movement. There is this one move he has that just creeps me out and gives me the chills. I can't explain it really except that it feels like he is finger painting my lower abdomen. Before dinner he was so active that I had to pace around the house to rock him back to sleep.
Heartburn- I usually take a tums and sit up for a while. Some nights I wake up with it and have to prop my pillows up and sleep on an incline.
~~~~
Nothing much to report. I took some pics of the nursery and some of the outfits last night and posted them in my journal. Also I guess Collin was waking DH all night. He was up for an hour just watching my belly move... I must be getting used to it because I slept through out the whole thing.
Heartburn – I occasionally have problems. When I do I typically drink a glass of milk or have some ice cream. I also drink tons of water.
Hostess gift – don’t know. I didn’t do it for my bridal shower and right now I’m not exactly sure who all are hosting our shower.
Gina – glad your furniture arrived and hope the glider situation gets resolved. We got our glider and ottoman over the weekend and I love sitting in it. We decided to put it in our bedroom for now.
Shaqangel – what is your coworker thinking? I’ve found that the more I know the harder it is for me to accept what is happening. I had to tell SIL to mail out invitations for our shower or at the least mail an E-vite. She just wanted to call people and tell them. That sounds like a definite way for people to forget. Had I never known I would have been fine
Kaedens mommy – good to know that Mackenzie is staying put for now.
Nikosmommy – congrats on having the painting done.
Frozen meals – dh and I talked about it over the weekend but didn’t actually make anything. We talked about making some freezer meals two weekends from now. We will be in NJ this weekend so it is out.
Not much going on here. The baby is currently tossing around.
Isn't it? I love to see people I've never seen before on here. It's like oh, so that's what you look like!!! I'll post a full body shot one day, my stomach is pretty huge. You just can't tell in these pics, but my face hasn't really gotten big or anything.
I will try flickr next time. The thing is Dh downloads them at work and emails them to me and I move them over to Snapfish. My computer is dumb and I can't download them myself. I wonder if that matters.
Pink-you are too cute! It's so nice to put a face with a name. Looks like you got some good loot.
Hello again :)
Pink Yeah for the baby goodies :D
When you go grocery shopping you should have them seperate the perishables from non and only bring those in. Have DH bring the rest in when he gets home. That's what I did and still do. The other thing is getting a shopping cart to keep in your car and loading the perishables in that and wheeling them in so you don't have to carry them.
If all else fails, I go shopping when Brian is home and come into the house empty handed and tell him there are groceries in the car and he needs to get them.
amurphy Those little ones just stretch out like they have all the room in the world. Your ribs & boobs, not the baby's problem :D
ds What are you going to freeze? I'm always looking for new ideas.
Lil_Mrs You have a very good memory. I can barely remember what was said here yesterday. We are down to 2 names so far. Jaedon & Nathan. We'll decide when we see him. However, I'm still holding out hope that I get Gabriel but I'm not holding my breath :/
So we didn't do anything I posted this morning. As soon as I logged off, one of the moms from Nikolas' play group called to say she was going to a local park. So we opted to do that. He had so much fun and I was glad to get him out of the house.
We came home and I put him down for a nap but he only slept an hour. I got a little less than that. So I forsee take out for dinner tonight cause I'm exhausted.
I have a dr appt tomorrow and will probably go run some of the errands tomorrow.
That's a good idea Niko's.
I have a question for you since you are a R/O you might kow. Feel free to chime in anyone else that might know. I feel like I have a stitch in my side. It's on the left maybe 4 inches from my belly button. It's persistent and painful. Any idea what it is?
Hi ladies,
Long time, no post. I hope everyone is doing well. I can't believe we are nearing the end of our pregnancies. I am happy that my little one will be here soon, but, there is part of me that will be sad not to have him in my tummy anymore and to not be pregnant with my first baby. Am I the only one who feels like this?
My Body:
I've been feeling REALLY pregnant lately. Like all of the sudden it hit..... I am warm all of the time, my feet and ankles are swollen from morning til night and my heartburn in out of control! I eat Tums like it is going out of style. And, I've reached that point where I can no longer get good sleep. I am usually up 4-5 times per night to either pee, drink water, or just because I can't get comfortable.
Baby Classes:
Dh and I are continuing to take our Lamaze classes. We have 3 left, and then we have a CPR class and a breastfeeding class. Gee... after all of these classes, I feel like I should have a degree in "baby studies." I am starting to get really nervous to go into labor... can't seem to get it off of my mind.
The nursery:
The nursery is complete, with the exception of hanging curtains and pictures. We plan to accompolish that this weekend. We still have a few other general house projects that I want to finish up. I feel like we are running out of time.
Trying to get organized:
I've packed my bag for the hospital, but still need to find a cute going-home outfit. I know comfort is key, is it will likely be yoga pants with a t-shirt. I've also washed all of the baby's blankets and newborn/0-3 months clothing. I didn't wash the "outfits," but rather, the onsies and pajamas, etc.
Baby Shower:
My shower isn't until May 20th, which makes me nervous. I have no idea why they choose such a late date. They gave me two options: May 20th or 27th. I felt like saying "yeah, how 'bout April?" but, I didn't want to be rude considering they are hosting the shower for me. It just makes me nervous since it is cutting it close to my due date. Granted, I will have 5 weeks, but you never know when you will go into labor.
Work:
My last day is June 2nd- I can't wait! The long commute (1.5 hrs each way) is really getting to me.
I'm happy to see that everyone seems to be doing well :) Take care.
Maybe it's just stretching pains. My Ob warned me that the muscles in our stomachs start to really stretch during this last trimester.
Niko- That's what I thought you had picked out. Just like to double check. See if my memory is still working. We have the name Collin picked out but I have a feeling that we are going to meet him and he'll be an Xavier. I keep telling peopel that it is Collin or Xavier but DH tells everyone that it is Collin.
I guess we all posted at the same time!
Shaq- You look great!
StevieM- Wow it sounds like you are all set! Sorry that your shower is so late... I'm stressing out about my shower that is this weekend because there is still so many little things we need to get.
Hello :)
Pink Not sure. I do know that instead of seperating nicely, some abdominal muscles tear when you're pg. Nothing you did, it just happens that way. It did with Niko and this one for me. However I don't really have anything like you're talking about. Call your dr, they'll tell you. They make a fortune from your ins co so they can answer these questions you have when they come up :D
shaq As always, looking gorgeous :D I'd like to have a middle name after someone we know to "honor" them and we don't know any Gabriel's :/ I'm still also trying to get Michael as a middle name. Brian isn't going for that one either :/ My life would be so happy if I got Gabriel Michael. I'd even take one or the other, but he's vetoing both. Men :rolleyes:
I am happy that my little one will be here soon, but, there is part of me that will be sad not to have him in my tummy anymore and to not be pregnant with my first baby. Am I the only one who feels like this?
steviem I went through that with Nikolas and for the longest time after he was born wanted to be pg again right away. Even with the sleep deprevation and all the nursing problems, I still wanted to be pg again.
LilMrs We thought about Xavier at first but then Brian's nephew had a son and they named him Xavier so that was out. I like both Collin & Xavier but again, Brian :rolleyes:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So now that summer is here I ordered Nikolas his own little table. Our patio is enclosed and every time we sit out there to eat we have to drag out his booster seat. So I've been looking for one on eBay but couldn't find the right one. I also figured being our house is so small and I couldn't host any inside play dates, I'll be doing a lot of pool play dates and the kids can sit and eat lunch at it. It seats 8 and really isn't that big overall. Plus with TRU right now online if you order over $50 you get a free $19 toy so I got Nikolas a dancing Elmo.

Ok, so my appointment wasnt as great as I hoped it would be. She was very concerned about the swelling in my legs and feet and gave me a strict diet of no soda, no salt (if possible) and to pretty much be on bed rest once i get off work. She wanted to put me on a week of full bed rest but I cant afford to take off any time since it would be unpaid, and she said ok for one more week but if it doesnt get better then she will put her foot down. Also she said he is really really low and the cramping and excessive #2's(sorry tmi) are signs that its closer than we think. She wants to see me every week now and said if my symptoms stay the same or get worse she will most likely induce me at 38 weeks. :eek: :eek: :eek:
Oh, and she also did my strep B test, which i wasnt expecting and thankfully I shaved my legs and "places: yesterday :rolleyes:
I also forgot to mention my rash and am putting cream on it and hope it goes away, if not by the next appointment I'll make sure to mention it. Thanks for everyones help with it!
So now I'm freaked out that I have sooo much to do and possibly only 3 weeks to do it in. We have to finish his room, get the car seats installed, get all the work paperwork done, deep clean the house, and so many other little things. Not to mention our lease is up in August and we have to start looking for a place in June to make sure we can move by august. AHHHH:eek:
Sorry for the ranting, i'm just scared to death at this point and can't really freak out to DH because he is at the end of his last semester of his masters program and doesnt need the stress. So I'm going to lean heavily on you wonderful ladies at this stressful time.
Ok, gotta run and get some cleaning done. HUGS to all!!

Ramona Lean on us, that's what we're here for.
excessive #2's(sorry tmi) are signs that its closer than we think. I forgot about that. Something about the colon spasming causes the uterus to contract, not sure :confused:
As always easier said than done, but please don't freak. It will all get done. It's like the baby knows what you need to do and waits. I really believe that is why this one is waiting, he knows I needed to get his room ready.

Dansgirl- feel free to vent away!! You all know that I do it! That has got to be so stressful to need to worry about moving on top of everything.
Some tips on the swelling- Try to find some compression socks. Here's a link to the search results (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=compression+socks). I got them last year during my D&C (after m/c) and the nurse told me to keep them for just this reason. They worked wonders last week when my ankles looked like knee caps. Also do some extra pelvic tilts after work. I read some where that sometimes the uterus and the baby end up sitting right on the vein that brings the blood back up from the legs. My ankles went down over night after combining the two.

ramona ... maybe only 3 wks :eek: sorry to hear your appt was not that great. I completely understand about the swelling ... mine is sooo bad. You have my # now you need to send me yours since we are labor buddies.
Shaq: You look awesome as usual :)
cramps: I had some cramping this morning :( It felt like PMS cramps but only last about an hour - then went away.
work: I have been working really hard trying to get all this paperwork done so when/if I leave it will not be such a mess. I still have sooooo much to do to be caught up.

Hi everyone! much craziness here today.... this is a long story that I'm just going to copy/paste from my LJ....
I had lots of BH's yesterday as well as a few menstrual-like cramps. I also had a few shooting pains down my urethra. I decided since I had an appt. this morning, that I'd just leave it at that, unless the pains/cramping continued at night after going to bed. Thankfully, it all seemed to stop and I had a good night of sleep.
This morning, I leave for my Dr appt. at 8 a.m. I didn't get back until 3:30. Here's what happened:
- Saw Dr. C at 8:30.
- weight up 2 lbs from 2 weeks ago. Weighing in now at the same # taht I was when I delivered Connor. (though my weight gain this time is only 23 lbs total rather than 26, as I started out 3 lbs heavier this time).
- BP fine
- Dawson's HB fine
- Told Dr. about yesterday's festivities. SHe said she could do an internal then, but she'd rather send me to the hospital right away to get a Fetal Fibronectin test done -- she said if she did an internal, the FFN test would have to wait at least 24 hours after, so it was best to head straight to the hospital and get the FFN done right away by Dr. L (my other fave OB from my practice!) and then follow that up with an internal. Oh yea, go here: http://www.marchofdimes.com/professionals/681_1149.asp for info on the FFN test
So, I headed over to the hospital and was there by 9 a.m.
- Spent the first hour and a half hooked up to the belly belt monitor. I had to press a button each time I felt Dawson move. He was moving like crazy.... The monitor also picked up that I was having some contractions throughout the hour (like more than 10 or 15 I think) but they can't tell if they're real or if they're BH's.
- Finally they found my Dr, who took the FFN swab.
- She then did an internal. I was 1.5 cm dilated.
- she decided that she would wait an hour to do another internal. And then if there was any change, they'd actually run the swab through the lab (apparently it's an expensive test to run, so she wanted to do the second internal to make sure).
- waited 1.5 hours for the second internal. Had some blood on TP when going to the washroom during that wait. Likely from my cervix being poked around.
- Second internal, same thing - 1.5 cm dilated, but this time she noted my cervix is very low and VERY soft.
- she says she'll have the swab run now, and it would take 30 min or so. So I take a quick trip to the cafeteria to grab a little snack for lunch.
- I come back 1/2 hour later. And end up waiting in my little triage room for another hour and a half.
- they finally kick me out of my triage room b/c they need it for other preggos.
- I wait in the waiting room for another 1.5 hours, and finally my Dr. comes to me to deliver the news. The FFN came back negative, which means I have a less than 5% chance of delivering in the next 7-10 days (had it been positive, I'd have a 50% chance and they would have likely admitted me). However, since I do have one unexplained preterm delivery under my belt, she felt it best to give me the steroid shots now to just be on the safe side for the next week
- I got the steroid shot at 3 p.m. (finally!) and was told I have to come back at 3 p.m. tomorrow for the follow up steriod shot.
- she did a THIRD internal and said I'm still at 1.5 cm and she's still concerned aobut how low and soft my cervix is (plus now I've had bleeding on and off all day...lol!).
- She siad I could go home but that I have to take it easy for the next 4 weeks. Not complete bedrest, but to limit my activities, take it easy more...and lie down as soon as I feel BHs or cramping. Also, no BD'ing for 4 weeks (DH is beyond thrilled...not!)
So I'm home... and hoping this kid will hang on for a few more weeks. DH is going to swich his shifts from evening to daytimes as much as he can. Connor is going to go to the dayhome a little more often, and when he isn't there, MIL will coem over and help take care of him.

dansgirl Vent away. I hope you're able to get everything done. Try not to stress too much. Easier said than done, I know.
shaq You look great, as always.
pink It's great to see a pic of you! You look really cute! Your shower looks like it was really nice. I love the end-of-the-day pooped-out pic.
amurphy The Tums aren't doing it for me anymore, either. I think I need to try OTC Zantac or something. I feel like my grandma- I had to start keeping the Tums on my nightstand, cause it's getting so bad at night. My baby also keeps pushing his butt up...it's cute at first, but when he does it a lot, it really hurts.
ds Your SIL wanted to just call people about your shower and not send invites? That would have made my obsessively organized self completely insane! I'm glad you got her to send invites.

Which brings me ti an update on my (lack of) shower. Josh talked with his dad and let him know how upset I still am that they didn't give me one for my wedding.
brief history-No one in his family could agree on a date for the wedding shower and then at the last minute they did.They decided on a holiday weekend Friday at 4 pm----and got pissed that no one could come.They sent invites out a week in advance (all my friends live at least an hour or so away-not counting holiday traffic and my 2 female relatives live at least 5 hours away and my mother is an invalid so she wouldn;t be able to make or host anything----not to mention that all my friends and family WORK!!!!). Once my MIL and SIL's (who were also my BM's)got notice that 3 people couldn't make it---they sent out emails cancelling the event for "lack of interest"....it never was rescheduled.
This is the same family who decided to change our engagement party from the decided date without checking with me and josh first. They moved it to Halloween with 2 weeks notice and it didn't matter that I was working that day and need advance notice to get a day off. It also meant that none of my friends who had young children could come since it was moved to Halloween.
So anyway, Josh really wants to make sure that they did something this time. He talked to his dad (without me knowing) in Feb...and told him that anytime is good for us except for the weekend before Memorial Day since we go camping with about 60 of our friends on this weekend every year. His dad then went on to say that that weekend was the only free weekend available *for everybody else* until July b/c everyone else is going away. They talked a little more and decided that they would have to do it BEFORE mother's day, since that was the only free time.
So today, he gets a call, saying that the shower will be on May 19th....which ofcourse is the weekend that we are going away
Now mind you...every single friend that I have will also be with me that weekend. They wouldn't be able to make the shower either since the are committed to this gathering as well.
Josh and his dad start juggling dates and try to move it...To my chagrin they decided on the first weekend in June which I know won't work b/c this date was already NIXED when they were trying to plan the 85th party for grandpa because about half of the family is travelling that weekend.
So long story short...I can see that this party is heading to the same results that the other one did. They are going to fight amongst themselves and I will be the one who gets hurt. I told josh to forget it. I really don't want to go down that route again...it just hurts too much.

Hi girls! Just dropping in to catch up on everyone! Seems we have some action going on!! Hope those babies stay put for a bit yet!!
I had a follow-up appt with my dietician today. Numbers have been sporadically high, but not enough for insulin. I am going to try extra extra hard to stick to my diet and hopefully won't have to worry about insulin! I haven't been following it as strictly as I should have been and have seen a difference in my numbers. :o But the good news is that I have only gained 1 pound in the past month! :D Hopefully that is all baby! I have another appt in 2 weeks, along with my OB/NST appt on Thursday.
I had my shower on Sunday and we got a ton of stuff, though not as much off our registries. We are working on the nursery, trying to get it cleaned out and set up! I ordered our bedding today, though it is different than the set we registered for. I found it on Overstock.com and it was a steal!!!
A 4-piece set for $59.99! That's $90 off the original price! :D
http://images.overstock.com/f/102/3117/8h/www.overstock.com/images/products/L10265401.jpg
Definitely worth it and it is so cute!! Now I have to accessorize!
Well, that's my update! Hope the action subsides and everyone is able to enjoy this last month or so!
Take care Mommies! :)

Maryanne so sorry about your shower situation! what a frustrating and ultimately hurtful family. Could one of your girlfriends throw you a shower for your friends and whatever family can come? Maybe if someone outside the family organizes, it will go a little more smoothly.
Karen I second what I said in your LJ--tell Dawson to stay put for a bit longer!
Amanda I love the frogs! What a great deal you found.
Shaq, Ramona, pink Cute pictures. You all have that wonderful-not-yet-miserable pregnancy glow!!
I am sad today because I found out my dog is in end stage renal failure and I have to put her to sleep. She is 13 and has been a good companion to me since I got her from the pound when she was 3 months old. Add pregnancy hormones to an already heartbreaking situation and I am a blubbering mess today.

maryanne - sorry about your family lack of enthusiasm. I hope your shower turns out to be wonderful
lawyerwifemom - sorry about your dog. I know how much our pets become another part of the family.
shower gifts - SIL called me last night because she was having trouble finding BRU. When she walked in she commented on it being "baby heaven". This was her first time in BRU she normally goes to TRU. Anyway she said that she was having trouble finding gender neutral clothes and that it would be much easier if she just knew the sex of the baby. **This is why no one knows the sex. People seem to think that the only thing you need for a baby is 0-3 month outfits** She ended up buying something off the registry...I also think she picked up some GN clothes.

Hello All :)
Quick post...
maryanne I am so sorry about your shower situation. It really sucks about his family.
lawyerwifemom So sorry about your dog. Saying good bye to a pet is as hard as saying good bye to a person.
Our family will keep Jad and her family in our prayers.
We have a GD dr appt this morning and Nikolas is being ugly. This is going to be a lllllllooooooonnnnnnngggggggg day with him. I'm also going to kick Brian's butt. Nikolas has his own little couch and Brian let him put it on our couch last night and sit on it so now he wants to do that, and I won't let him. If he falls off he'll get hurt cause he's very high. I just don't get my husband sometimes. BBL.

Freezing foods – I don’t remember who asked, but right now I plan to do two maybe three lasagnas. DH and I were talking this morning about other stuff to make and we haven’t decided. I do want to make some non-pasta stuff, because we will get sick of lasagna after a while. I plan to get some ideas from this thread that someone posted earlier: http://www.constantchatter.com/showthread.php?t=8733&highlight=freezer
My mom will be here for about 2 weeks after the baby is born so she will be cooking then. We will save the frozen stuff for after she leaves. Now that I think of it, I may ask my mom to make stew while she is here so we can freeze that too.
Jad – you and your family are in my prayers.

maryanne that stinks that dh's family is like that. i hope you get a shower. i can kinda relate too cos dh's family hasnt done anything for our baby, same thing with the wedding. promised lots and never delivered. so dh let them know that it wont work this time around but nothing yet. i'm over it.
lawyer i'm so sorry about your dog. i'll be thinking of u.
dans girl great pic! u're always so smiley in your pics:)
jad definitely have you in my thoughts and hope u are doing well.
ds its so funny how people have to know what the sex is to buy stuff. they just want to buy pink or blue clothes! it was funny cos at my shower at church we got quite a few things of the registry cos people had no choice but to do that. i mean we alos got non-registry stuff but for the most part it was essentials.
babylust love the bedding and gosh what a steal!

connorsmommy-thank you for posting that. No, it's not good for Jad and her hubby. In fact, it's awful and miserable and her hopes for the future are gone. It's a terrible thing for Jad and her family to go through. Ladies, I know this is a busy time for you. Preparing nurseries, writing Thank you notes, attending showers, etc. I'm a member of the June Mommas 05 thread as well as a former member of the Twinmamas thread so I know how busy you all are at this time but I also have a small inkling of what Jad is going through. Ladies, despite all the activities in your lives, please take the time to give Jad your condolences and prayers and best wishes. Jad I don't know what to say. I am so sorry. My heart goes out to you during this difficult time. I will pray for you and your little boys.:(
maryanne Sorry about Dh's family. Excuse my french, but they really sound like a bunch of selfish a-holes. I hope that someone works something out for you.
I'm kinda ticked at my DH's family, too. They are always mooching off of of him. When he does something for them, there isn't anything that's too good for them. When it's his turn, they're a bunch of rude cheapskates. I don't mean to sound greedy, it's not about what they spent so much (well, a little bit), but their shower gift to us was totally without effort. Not one single one of them bought an actual gift- an outfit, or a little toy or something.- not even his mother, the baby's supposed grandmother:rolleyes: . They went together and bought a BRU gift card for $150, which is a lot, but there like 10 people that signed the card. So they spent a big $15 a person.:mad: I don't care so much for myself. I don't need anything from them and neither does the baby. I just hate seeing DH get the shaft when he's so generous with them. I'm grateful that for birthdays and holidays my family treats him just like they do me with gifts, cards, etc., cause the poor guy really never got any kind of caring gesture from his family. Why am I surprised, though? His mother actually came to our wedding empty-handed. She didn't even bring a card.
freezing food I would like to get started soon. So far I'm planning lasagna and that's it. Does anyone know if shredded chicken would freeze okay? I have a great chicken enchilada recipe, but I'm not sure how it would do in the freezer.
lawyerwifemom I am so sorry about your dog. Hugs to you! Have you read the book Marley and Me? It's a must for dog lovers and it kinda parellels what you're going through right now.
babylust Cute froggy bedding!
dansgirl You look adorable!
I was writing this huge post and it made me think of Mrsbrownie. Her posts are always so long:D . I noticed that she hasn't been here in awhile. I hope everything is okay.

maryanne - how frustrating! I think I'd feel the same way. Even though I'm sure they're not fighting and arguing over dates and screwing up just to spite you, it's got to feel that way. Just keep in mind that their arguring and stuff probably has NOTHING to do with how they feel about you or this baby, but their own internal issues that are coming to light. I hope they find a date that works so you can feel celebrated deservedly.
lawyerwifemom - how awful about your puppy. I know how much an animal can mean to someone. I'm so sorry - sending you my thoughts...
Dan's girl - you look adorable! Great belly shot!
babylust - your bedding looks fantastic! Very fun and cute.
connors glad u're feeling better and i sure hope dawson stays put much longer!
ds - y'know, I never thought of that as a reason not to divulge the sex, but it sounds like a good one. I was (and still am) a bit nervous that all we'll get is clothes, especially since my shower date came and went. But so far all of the big ticket items have been bought and shipped here, so I'm not as worried anymore. And it sounds like you've planned things accordingly so you won't be diluged with a bunch of clothes. I think people just like picking out small adorable outfits, and who can blame them? Granted, none of the smaller stuff we really need, like bottles and such, have been purchased (other than the stuff by my wonderful virtual shower buddy MrsBrownie). I wish more people thought that buying practical stuff was more imporant than the cute things.
jad - I'm speechless. Words can't express how sorry I am. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Maryanne-That really sucks. I can't believe how selfish they see to be. Not accomodating at all! If all else fails have a "Meet the Baby Party" for yourselves after your little one arrives. That way you still get to have a celebration but on your terms! I know it's not the same tho. ((hugs))
Went to the Dr. today over that weird pain-And I'm a little embarrassed to admit that the pain that had me crying my eyes out last night was just round ligament pain! I had never had it before and it's just very actue and I'm also very consitpated so the Dr. thinks that my distended colon (ewww gross) is probably pushing on it and making it worse. He said take some Milk of Mag. today and take it easy and hopefully it will ease but there wasn't anything else I could really do about it. I guess I've just been lucky not to have had it so far. I pray to God it doesn't last, I don't know how many weeks I can take of this. It really, really hurts.
Ramona-You look cute!
Lawyerwife-I am so very sorry about your dog. My dog is my baby so I can only imagine how you must feel.
Jad-We've missed you and I am so sad to hear why you have not been here. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
Pink: Great photos.. I love the “I am tired one.. LOL” and those gift boxes are SOO CUTE! And I agree w/ LiL Mrs. so great to put a name w/ a face…
Shaq: Great photo!!
Stevem: My last day is June 2nd as well and I am with you on the commute the 1.5 hours gets really tiresome.
Dan’s girl that is what we are here for! And your photo is great!
Maryanne: I am sorry the shower is turning out to be an ordeal… so frustrating when showers supposed to be about fun and new exciting times and you (in general) end up having hurt feelings…
Babylust: great crib! and even better price!
Lawyer: I am sooo sorry to hear about your dog… I am such a dog lover and I know how hard it is… how are the kids doing w/ it? What kind of dog is she??? Just breaks my heart… thinking happy thoughts for you…
Jad: I too am speechless and my heart goes out to you and your family. Keeping you in my hearts and prayers.

Jad- There are no words. I am so sorry. Your family is in my prayers.
June Mommas- Are any of you pretty close to her? I would like to send her flowers on behalf of our group. Does Phen live close to her? I may try to contact her to see if I can send her the flowers to give to Jad.
Connorsmommy- Wow- What an eventful day! (The wait times I’m sure were boring as heck but still eventful). I’m glad your DH and MIL are doing what they can to take care of you until the baby is here.
Dansgirl- You look so adorable! I just love your big grin- Makes my day!
Maryanne- Maybe your DH could vent to one of your mutual friends that are going camping and they can do some sort of mini shower for you. Just bring some extra s’mores and give you gift certificates for extra pampering while camping.
Babylust- I absolutely love that bedding!! It is so much fun.
Lawyerwifemom- I am so sorry about your pup. I wish I had something helpful or insightful to say but I know that it just sucks. I would be a blubbering mess with or without pg hormones.
I’m sorry for all of you having to deal with unsupportive families. That would be so frustrating.
Gina- At first I thought you were talking about no reason to divulge in sex (dtd)!! Oops… The whole gender thing is so frustrating to me. I have people all the time tell me how difficult I am making things on them because I don’t know the sex. For my family friends shower I told my mom that there is a strict no clothes or blankies policy. I thought that not revealing the gender would mean more practical gifts but instead it just means that they all buy duckie stuff. I have enough clothes for him to never have to wear the same outfit twice and I have 2 friends with one year old boys that are already giving me all their son’s clothes as they outgrow them. The last thing I need are more clothes.

So Dh and I decided to officially go for the job that I talked about a couple of months ago. I am nervous and excited. I am going to talk to my boss today about how she feels about me going for it.

JAD I am so so sorry for your situation. There really are no words.
shower woes I'm sorry so many of you have had hurtful, thoughtless or frustrating experiences. Hopefully all these family members will come through in the end by being a loving presence in your child's life.
Thank you Shaq, Amanda, Gina, Lil_mrs, DS, Ryan, Pink, Jbenny, Nikos, maryanne(and anyone else I accidently left out) for your kind words about my dog. Jbenny I haven't read that book but maybe I'll get up the courage to read it soon. Ryan This is what I wrote about her in my LJ
Just a month ago, she (India) and our other dog (Drake) took off on an adventure to a local pond. They went swimming and ran around like maniacs. They ended up at the pound. India used to be an escape artist in her youth (her nickname was Shawshank) but in the past couple years she has been content to hang out around home. And Drake never takes off. So it was strange that they ran off like that. I guess it was her last hurrah.
She's had a good long life. She is a boxer/lab mix with brindle markings--kind of like a Bengal tiger. Hence her name. I got her from the pound when she was less than 3 months old. She's always been very sweet and loving and a fiesty toy puller. Any noisemaking toy was doomed to eviceration once she got hold of it. She's gone on many back woods hikes, played in the ocean, chased lots of crazy cats and been adopted by a homeless man for 2 days after a youthful escape from my back yard. She is the only dog I have ever seen actually CLIMB a fence. I will miss her and I am sad.

Hello again :)
LilMrs If you find out anything from Phen I'd like to contribute on flowers if you don't mind. Just let me know and we'll go from there. Phen helped me through a lot when I lost the baby before Nikolas so Jad is in good hands and has great support.
Good luck on the job.
Pink Glad you found out about the pain. Like I said, the dr's get a ton from our ins co so use them no matter what.
jbenny Sorry your inlaws are moochers.
ds That was me that asked about what you were going to freeze. Thanks for the link.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dr appt went well. Being my numbers only go high once in a while (when I cheat) they don't forsee me having to go on insulin. I'm so close to induction she said I can manage the next few weeks. So I don't have to see them until 6 weeks after little man comes.
Nikolas and I went to WalMart after the dr. I was hoping to get the same material as his curtains are now, but they don't carry that anymore so I have to see if JoAnn's has it. If not, I have to make new curtains :/ Thing is, I can't sew. I used that sticky tape to make them, and it was easy cause it was a checkered design so I just folded on the straight line. I may actually break down and buy a sewing machine, they had one for $78 and try it out. I can always return it if it doesn't work.
Well I'm off to do dishes and laundry. It seems like laundry never ends :/
OH YEAH... for those of you doing disposable diapers, there is a flushable kind, G Diapers (http://www.gdiapers.com/home). We're thinking about trying them out.
Ok, off to clean.
Gina – I think it is great that your family shops off the registry even though they know the sex. DH’s family would inundate us with clothes. I honestly think that is why DH’s cousin didn’t get much registry stuff. Everyone knew it was a boy.
I tend to buy the small things on registries…bottles, nipples, thermal bags, etc, especially if I know the mom plans to formula feed. How else will the baby eat. I guess I must be an exception. I do sometimes throw in clothes, but that is in addition to a registry item.
Jbenny – I’d be ticked too. It is amazing how some people (esp family) expect you to give them the world when they ask, but when it is your turn you barely get a pebble. We have friends like that too. Always asking for help (non monetary things) and then when you ask for help they are conveniently unavailable.
Pink – I think that if you don’t know then it is best to ask the doctor. I’m sure they are used to it.
Nikosmommy - I have to admit that the G-diapers are rather interesting. I read about them a couple months ago. We are still going to use cloth, but I was thinking of possibly using G-diapers when we travel.
lawyer-I read that book. My DH got it for me for Christmas and I don't know if it is the pregnancy hormones or what but I was hysterical and so pissed at Dh for buying it for me after I read it. If you read it wait a really long time until you are ready. Good book but very sad.
THIS IS A TMI POST, funny IMO but TMI so be forewarned...
I went downstairs to do laundry and when I squatted down to get the clothes out of the washer I had this feeling like I had to pee :eek: Well I thought to myself I can wait until I get upstairs (first mistake) so I empty out the washer and brought the clothes over to the dryer.
I bent over to put the clothes in the dryer when I realized that I couldn't wait until I got upstairs :eek: So I had to grab a towel (I just got out of the shower so all I have on is my robe) and had to use that to catch my oops :o
So now I'm off to jump in the shower again to clean up :rolleyes:
Yeah, I'm not going to miss having the bladder of a 70 year old man at all.
lawyer: Your pup sounds like my Molly... that is how she is running around.. and SWIMMING all the time.. she is a yellow lab... AND we are just now reading Marley and Me... and I did hear the ending was sad... but I have not finished reading it yet... so those of you who read it... please do not tell me what happens...:)
But Lawyer: Thinking happy thoughts your way.. ...
Nikos- That is too funny!! I hope you threw that towel straight into the washer when you were done with it!! I guess I've lucked out in that department so far. Dh laughs at me though because I go sit on the toilet to fart because I am scared that I am going to piss myself. I've caught the beginning of a leak and ran to the bathroom just in time on a couple of occassions.
So I turned in my resume and they will schedule an interview with me for Monday! I talked to my boss and she is rooting for me all the way.
Question...
To those of you that have experienced labor before... how would you describe contractions?
I think I had my first contractions last night. I woke up at 2am and 5am because my belly was aching. It felt hard like BH but there was also a soreness associated with it. I am not 100% sure if they are contractions but I think they might be. This morning I also feel like the bulge in my front lower belly is bigger.
I've had it again this afternoon. I am not good with words, so I don't know how to describe it. It's like a general ache that I can't pinpoint but it's all over my belly and the sides towards the back. My sister, the nurse, said it's ok to have those as long as I have less than 4 per hour.
I'm wondering, could the baby be moving in such a way that would cause that type of sensation? It feels really uncomfortable and kinda painful but tolerable. I plan to ask the OB tomorrow at my scheduled appointment.
Question...
To those of you that have experienced labor before... how would you describe contractions?
I would describe my contrax. when I had connor as dull, achy menstrual cramps. As I progressed, they got a little more painful, but weren't unbearable until I was 8 cm and they broke my water. Then all hell broke loose and within 30 min, they were painful (but still in the same area of those menstrual-like cramps) He was born about 90 min. after having my water broken, so really they were only painful cramps for about 60 min.
Sorry again for no SOs. I know I've been scarce lately and posting only about myself.
Jad ~ I am so sorry for your tremendous loss. You and your husband are in my thoughts and prayers.
My u/s today unfortunately didn't yield very good results. They did confirm that she has a stomach problem and also a heart defect. The good news is both are fixable with surgery. The bad is that the chance of Downs Syndrome has also increased. FTR, we didn't do any screening early in the pregnancy.
The stomach problem needs to be resolved surgically within 24-48 hours of birth which means I will need to deliver at the hospital I saw the peri at today (4 hours from here). The heart surgery would take place around 3-6 months of age but is considered a mid-range heart problem and she shouldn't have any long lasting effects.
We're a little overwhelmed right now and just hoping and praying that things will be okay.
05-03-2006, 04:01 PM
Kaeden's: I'm sorry for the not so great news. At least you know what you're facing, and that both problems are fixable. Did they see any other signs of Down's on the ultrasound? Maybe the baby's too big to tell now, but I thought there were things like the size of the limbs, etc that could give them a good idea. I'm thinking of you.
To those of you that have experienced labor before... how would you describe contractions?
Mine started out feeling like menstral cramps, low in my belly but definately cramping that began and ended within a certain period of time (about 40 seconds). They weren't really painful at first, I just knew they were there. As they became more painful, they also involved much more of my belly and back. At their worst I could even feel them up around my diaphram (making me feel like I was going to get sick). Mine were, unfortunately, unbearable at 2 cm which is why I loved my epidural.
Jad: You're in my thoughts and prayers.
ds ~ I will likely have a scheduled induction, but it's not set yet. I hated the peri I saw today so I'm switching to another one. I will see her in a week or 2 (find out tomorrow) and they will probably induce me at the end of the month. I will definitely let you know when I find out. Thanks for the prayers.
jay&erinn ~ There aren't any other signs of Downs. They did look but nothing else is conclusive.
So I just got back from my dr appointment and I am so happy. Can I just say again how thankful I am for my dr. I asked him if he has any recs for a pediatrician and he is actually a family practitioner and told me that he could even see DH. He said he understands if we want someone that specializes in just pediatrics but I am just so happy with him I couldn't go some where else!
Also I talked to him about my concerns as far as the nurses at the Birth Center and he told me that he completely supports my decision and that he will work on my birth plan with me to make sure that I get the birthing experience I want. He also said that he feels comfortable delivering naturally and he will make sure that I get one of the nurses that are more supportive (then he mentioned that I many hardly even see the nurse once they see how great and supportive DH is). Well now I am just rambling... Talk to you girls tomorrow.
Met with my OB this afternoon and everything looks good. Baby is head down now (which I kind of thought as I have been feeling a lot of movement down low, and I've had to pee a lot more frequently now!) BP was normal, and there was only a trace of protein in my urine, so all in all everything looked good. She's happy with my numbers, which are perfect when I follow my diet. I had some potato chips this afternoon and didn't measure my pasta with dinner and my levels were high tonight, but I'm not too worried as I know why and tomorrow I'll be back to being strict. :p
The shower my family is throwing is coming up two weeks from Saturday. I need to find something to wear...any suggestions where I can find an outfit?
Hello :)
maryanne & lawyerwifemom It wasn't my water breaking, it was pee. I know that cause I was able to stop it for a split second to grab the towel. Plus even though I've had contractions all night, there is nothing steady so...
Kaeden's Mommy I'm going to PM you.
Contractions Like the others, to me, it started off as menstrual cramps. They weren't unbearable, just uncomfortable, like your worst period. After they broke my water (4/5 cm) well then it was a whole other ballgame. They were so much more intense and I had to have my epidural after that. There was no waiting what so ever.
nikosmommy I had an accident today, too. I was on the phone with my stepmom, I started coughing, and I totally peed myself. Ugh.
I had the biggest pregnancy brain fart ever today. I wanted to go to BRU to exchange my shower duplicate gifts. Before I left, I made sure to pack all of my gift receipts, gift cards, and cash from the shower into my purse along with my list of what I still needed to get. I was so careful to remember all of that stuff. I needed to stop at Target first. While I was there, I realized that I walked out of the house without any of the stuff I had to take to BRU.:mad: I really wanted to take it back tonite and get the rest of what I needed and be done baby shopping, so I had to drive all the way home and pick up my stuff to be returned. I was so mad at myself.
Hi all, I wanted to drop off a belly shot, and also update on what's been going on with me. I had a shower at my church on Monday, and that was very nice. Received some items I'd registered for such as the pack 'n play, monitor, bathtub, Graco Comfortsport carseat, and a few smaller things. Also, several crocheted blankets, lots of cute onesies, diapers, receiving blankets, and good stuff like that. Very nice.
Our nursery is coming along...finally. :) It's painted, the furniture is set, I just need to finish putting up curtains and get the things from my shower organized and put away. One of these days I'll have pics of the completed room! Our travel system was also delivered yesterday- Graco mosaic. I really like it- not nearly so bulky as a lot of the Graco's.
I had an appointment yesterday- my first internal. :eek: I expected something really dreadful based on what people have told me, but I didn't think it was bad at all. Although, perhaps that's just because there isn't really much going on down there. The doc said my cervix was softening, but was still very long and posterior. The baby's head is down but forward, so definitely no engagement happening there. I have a feeling I'm going to end up closer to my "real" due date (6/2) than my ultrasound due date (5/19). Oh well, more time to get stuff done, right? I still feel pretty good, although getting out of bed has definitely gotten more difficult in the last few days. I feel rather old and decrepit. :rolleyes:
Sorry, I don't have time for s/o's, but I have a feeling I'm going to be late for work as it is...here's my 37 week, 3 day (or 35 week/3 day if going by my original due date) belly shot from Monday:
More weird registry activity I looked at my registry after returning my duplicates last night, and the items I had returned were added back onto my registry in the to be purchased category. WTF is up with BRU? Am I the only one having these problems?
She lost the babies several months ago and has been having a very hard time. I am not positive flowers would be a good thing for her right now. Maybe just sending good thoughts to her and her family, particularly on Mother's Day. I know that's a day she is really not looking forward to, but maybe knowing so many people are thinking of her on that day will help her get through it.
Thanks for asking. I know she'll appreciate all y'all's good thoughts one day, when she's ready.
So on that note, just some good thoughts and prayers right now to help her and her family get through this.
Graffy You glowing beauty you :D
maryanne Even if Melody doesn't come for the 4th, she can wear that Labor Day weekend, it's cute :)
jbenny As I was reading your BRU story I knew that you forgot the stuff and I'm sorry I had to laugh. I know it wasn't funny at the moment, but I could just see where you were going with that. You were so careful to remember everything else, of course you were going to forget the stuff.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have a BPP today at 10. I know I have to go, but I don't feel like it, I'm having some opposite of constipation problems right now :o I'm very surprised it's happening cause I am taking my prenatal vitamins and an iron pill supplement, both which are supposed to cause constipation so...
vent/worry here: Everyone here and IRL knows that I'm close to being induced. Especially one of the moms in Niko's play group, the one who we're getting the furniture from. I called her on Mon night to tell her the room would be ready for the furn by Thur. I saw her Tues and she said she had to talk to her husband when they could bring it over. I saw her last night and she says either this Sat (doesn't really think so) or next Wed :eek: We were talking with another lady at the time and I tried to stress in a playful that I'm waiting for her stuff to be able to see where I'm going to place the baby and Nikolas and I don't want to be in labor worrying about getting the furniture over the house.
I am so grateful that we didn't have to buy anything, but I'm still stressed that we won't get it in time and that I can't really set up the room until I see the stuff in there. I want to hang shelves and all that stuff but need to know where everything will be.
I can't demand she give it to me this weekend, and I don't want to cut into her family time, but I really want to get the furniture Sat so we can finish the room. I have to email her to thank her for inviting me out last night so I'm going to try to work it in there somehow. Hopefully it will work.
THANKS FOR LETTING ME VENT.

nikos Is there anyway that you can send people over there to get the stuff. Maybe the delay is in her head about coordinating it all to bring to you and this will make it easier.
graffyyou look great !
jbennythe only time I have issues with BRU is when I have to wait a few days for the stuff that I changed in the store to update online.

Jbenny – the BRU registry can be a nightmare. I returned some stuff over a month ago from my registry and it took a couple days for it to be reflected. BRU really needs to do something about the poor registry updating system especially since they are changing the return policy. I would hate to be stuck with duplicate items just because their registry system is flawed.
Nikosmommy – I was also going to suggest trying to pick it up yourselves.
I almost completely split my pants this morning. I went to the bathroom at work and then decided to do some squats to help stretch my groin. Well, I heard a pop-pop and new immediately what had happened. Luckily I only busted the first set of stitches, so I’m still protected by the last set. I will need to break out the sewing machine to fix these because I just love this pair of capris. Evidently they are not as stretchy as many of my other pants.

It seems that the days I can't stop by here are the days that everyone is posting like crazy! I apologize for not doing complete SOs, but do have to say
Jad, you and your family are in my thoughts. Please know that you and your babies are in all our prayers.
Kaedens : I know the news about your daughter's health was hard to hear, but I'm positive that she will pull through all her surgeries and quickly move past her health issues. We are all rooting for her!
Lawyer: So sorry to hear about your dog. :(
Shaq, Dan's girl, Graffy: You all look beautiful! Look at those babies grow!
I hate to complain about my pregnancy related aches-and-pains when so many of my fellow CC members are dealing with real heartache. So, I'm going to keep my trap shut and instead focusing on the amazing baby growing inside me.
Hope everyone is doing well this week!

Graffy- You look amazing! I can't believe you are so close!
Niko- Thank you for talking to Phen for me. I will definitely be thinking of Jad and her family. I was thinking that Brian might be able to get someone with a pick up and go over there to grab the furniture. I know it's hard because they are doing you a favor yet you want to make sure that they follow through.
Maryanne- Very cute 4th of July out fit! Here's ours... We bought it right after we found out that we might be having a 4th of July baby and it was on clearance for $4 at the time. We accidentally bought girls shoes though... He'll never know the difference.

amurphy- If you want to vent you can always pm me. I don't mind hearing it :)
DS- that is is too funny! I have come close with one pair of pants and since then I always do a couple of squats in the morning to make sure that I have some bending room.
I'll have to look at the tribute for Jad after I post.
~~
Update on me- I got my hair colored last night. Nothing too drastic, I just wanted to add some richness to the color so I let my stylist play with it a little. I think it came out pretty good. It's not enough to notice that I got my hair done but enough to where people think that I put some extra effort into my look.

Just wanted to pop in and drop off this cute thing my mom sent me this morning. Hope I dont offend anyone(it talks about God) :)
A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"
God said, "Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."
The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."
God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."
Again the child asked, "And how am I ! going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I >don't know the language?"
God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."
"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"
God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."
"Who will protect me?"
God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life. "
"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."
God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."
At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."
God said, "You will simply call her, "Mom."

Hello again :)
ds I split my pants and I wasn't pg :o
LilMrs Cute outfit :) Those shoes don't look girlie.
Furniture I wish we could pick it up. She has this huge SUV and thinks she's going to have to make 2 trips with it. We just have the Saab & Saturn. She actually called while I was at the dr so I'm going to call her back later and let her know how much I'm stressing about the room not being done w/o actually coming out and saying anything about not having the furniture. She should pick up on it.
My BPP went well. He passed again like a champ. Was doing his breathing exercises the whole time but didn't want to move. I had to wake him up so we could finish the test.
Well I have to do dishes. I was hoping Brian would have done them last night when I went out, but no such luck :/

Dan's Girl ~ That's cute. Thanks for sharing it.
Nikos ~ Yay for passing the BPP!
Everyone ~ Thank you so much for your kind words of strength and encouragement. I love being able to turn to all of you as friends when many of my IRL friends wouldn't understand. We appreciate all your continued thoughts and prayers.
Kaeden's-So sorry to hear about your scary news. Do you have a more specific diagnosis? I have been working in Pediatrics for 8 years now and have seen alot successful surgeries in the post natal period and would love to be able to give you any encouraging words if I can. Hang in there, you are in my prayers.
Niko's-I can totally relate with the accidents especially with this stent in. We live in a 4 bedroom house with just one bathroom on the second floor. This is TMI, but I have a "pee cup" I keep under the kitchen sink because I can't make it upstairs all the time, I also keep one in the basement for when I'm doing laundry! WAY GROSS, but better than peeing myself, my DS is quite fascinated with it too...our little secret.:rolleyes: He tells everyone that "mommy pees in a cup" and I just tell everyone that he comes to all my doctor's visit so he sees everything.....
Hi, all. Someone told me that my news had been posted, and I wanted to come thank you for your kind thoughts. I've been doing my best to stay away from the thread since, as you can probably imagine, it's quite painful to think about what should have been. I developed a uterine infection back in February that caused me to go into labor. My sons were born after about 40 hours of labor. They were beautiful and healthy and big for their gestational age, but they were just too early to survive for very long. Giving birth to them, knowing what the outcome would be, was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. It's a pain that I hope none of you ever know.
Naturally DH and I would like to have another child. So those of you who pray, please pray for my sons and also for a healthy brother or sister to bring home sometime next year. I wish you all safe arrivals of your children.

ruby ~ Her heart defect is called AVSD. It should require only one surgery which is positive news. I'd be happy to hear any other encouraging info you can share. :)
Kaeden's- This heart defect is more common than most people think and quite fixable. We have had many babies with it who are perfectly healthy in the long run. What I would recommend is setting up an appt with a genetic counselor who can go over stats and recommended evals you should have given that there are 2 different problems emerging and speaking with your current Pedi about finding a neonatologist close to you to have a consult with you to prepare you for the upcoming surgeries. Good luck and hugs....

Jad~You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
I found out what my itchy rash is....
About 1 percent of women develop itchy, red bumps and larger patches of a hive-like rash on their bellies in the second half of pregnancy, usually in the last month or two. These irritations are called pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP for short) or polymorphic eruption of pregnancy. They usually show up first on the abdomen around or in stretch marks (if you have any) and then spread to the thighs, the buttocks, and sometimes the arms. They're harmless for you and your baby, but they can itch like crazy!
(from Babycenter.com)
So at least I'm not turning into a big nasty infectious person, LOL.
Threadmistress, feel free to post my 33 week belly shot on the front pages, it is a page or two back. thanks!

Kaeden's-I believe this is the same heart defect my cousin's baby has. They had no idea she had it until birth and they waited until 6 months to do surgery and she came out fine but will require more surgeries in the future (which could be for the other problems with her heart I'm not familiar with). She had a few other defects in her heart too that I don't know much about. She does NOT have Down's Syndrome although I've been told it's very common for babies with that particular heart defect. She's a little small and was slow to crawl because of her surgery on her chest, but I believe she is developmentally right where she should be and she is adorable and a great joy to our family! She's just over a year old and walking and talking like crazy now!

Hi everyone, I rarely post here although I do lurk now and then to see how everyone is doing. My pg is going well for the most part but I am having contractions that are more regular than I would like. I'm not officially on bedrest but my doc encourages me to take it easy as much as possible. Mother's instinct tells me that this baby is coming early. I'm already starting to drop and everyone always tells me how it looks like I have a basketball in my belly! On another note, my DS is turning two next week! I can hardly believe it. Someone recently said that having two young ones is not double the work but it's quadruple! :eek: I'm looking at my calendar for the month of May and it's going to be a very busy one. My friends are throwing me a Girl's Day towards the end of May. I hope I make it! My prediction is that the baby will be early and he'll weigh 8 pounds. Again, just mother's intuition.
On top of my already crazy life and schedule, I have a job interview tomorrow. Wish me luck!

I guess it does pay off to exercise and watch what you are eating! my doctor said that 34 weeks is a big milestone since if I went into labor at or after 34 weeks, she wouldn't stop it! wow. anyway- DH is out of town and I have my last two showers this weekend. after that we will need to stock up on everything we didn't get. must control the budget!

33w2d Wow…less than 4 weeks to full term. I hit full term on the last day of this month.
I must have missed the January 2007 thread and I’ve been looking almost everyday.
Shoulda – you gave me a question to ask at my next appt. I wonder at what point they will not stop the contractions. Have a great time at your showers this weekend. Ours is in two weeks. :o)
I still don’t think I will go early, although people tell me that they don’t think I’ll make it. I’m measuring right on target so I’m not concerned with what the others are saying.
My pain is almost completely gone. DH massaged the tender area on the side of my hip last night and the inner pelvic pain I had is now gone. The massage therapist at my last chiro appt did the same on my right side and since then only my left was hurting. They been focusing on my right hip since that is where I was originally having pain. I’m going to now see if they can focus on both sides at each visit. The only pain I have now is dead center in my pubic area. That pain isn’t that bad and doesn’t keep me from doing anything or cause me to walk funny like the pelvic bone pain did. I feel great today. I’m going to have DH massage both hips tonight.
Weekend plans – Tonight we are going shopping for a gift for DH’s 1year old godson/cousin and will probably hit Target so I can get some pads and a waterproof cover for our mattress. Tomorrow afternoon we have Childbirth class and are leaving straight from there to go to NJ. I was planning on going to a Bachelorette party that night, but instead we will be spending time with DH’s mom who just got back from the Dominican Republic for like 2 months. She had been sick. The godson’s first birthday party is on Sunday.
I realized yesterday that DH and I had our first pre-conception appt on June 15, 2004. That was when we officially announced to my OB that we were ready to start TTC. Luckily she was proactive because I found out the next month that I had PCOS. Two years later…almost to the day, we will finally be parents. That is pretty amazing. It would be pretty cool if we had our son on June 15, 2006, but my mom’s flight comes in that day so that could really put a wrench in our plans. We will see. He will be here soon enough.
Belly touches – I can honestly say that I have not had one stranger put a hand on me yet. It could be that I don’t spend much time in public. We will be out this weekend with DH’s family so I know I get my fair share then.
Okay..I’ve written enough for now.

Jad, thanks for stopping in the other day. I can't even imagine the pain you've been through. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers that you will someday have the family you've always envisioned.
***************
DS: 34 weeks is generally when they will NOT try to stop labour, as that's the week they say a baby's lungs are well enough developed for being outside the uterus. However, when I got the steroids earlier this week, my Dr. told me that they wouldn't stop labour for me anymore (though I should do what I can to take it easy and keep him in a little longer!), even though I wasn't quite 34 weeks yet. She told me that when they've given the steroids to someone 32 weeks and over, they will not stop labour at that point either.
*************
Kaedens: I'm sorry to hear about the news you received this week. I'm finding it's more and more common than I used to realize to have babies who need special care and sometimes surgery after birth. It's a scary thing to contemplate, but years ago they did not have the ability to diagnose some stuff before birth, so many people would go for years without knowing they have some sort of heart defect or whatever... so thankfully they've caught this early and will be able to make your daughter well sooner than later! :) My continued thoughts & prayers will remain with you!
****************
On a lighter note.... DH moved the remainder of the office (aside from a few little things) down to the basement yesterday and got all the furniture set up down there so that our big ole' 1 room L-shaped basement is now:
-an office
-a guest room
-a cozy TV room w/fireplace (that was always there)
-a toy room
It actually works quite well but now we hardly have room for Connor's picnic table. That might have to become an outdoor toy...
So, the nursery can finally be finished. First order of business is get the floor where the desks were all vaccuumed. Then, move the crib into place, build and stock up the change table, wash cloth diapers, and organize the closet. :) We could get the entire nursery set up in less than a day, but since I'm not supposed to push myself too much, I'll work on it slowly over the next week.
...... Garage sale is tomorrow, but the entire garage is already filled up and ready to go.... between our stuff, MIL's stuff and our friends R&G's stuff, we will have one massive garage sale. Looking forward to clearing out lots of junk that we don't need or want anymore.
Anyway, I've got a kid here who wants some breakfast.... will check in later!

Vent: My stepsisters are throwing me a baby shower next Sat. May 13th - It seems like sooo many people are saying ... "Why did they pick mothers day weekend?" - It was the only Sat this month that we both had open ... makes me want to say waaaaaaa - I understand that alot of people go out of town or have plans already - OH WELL dont come. ya know? Dont try to make me feel bad b/c of it. ya know? ok vent time is over .... lol
weekend plans: I have NOTHING planned this weekend woooohooo - We might actually paint the nursery. I am so excited cause I get to relax this is the 1st weekend in a long time that we have not had something to do.
Cramps/BH: I had some yesterday but they were not as bad or lasted as long as the other day. I am sure my doc will prob do an internal when I tell him that I have been having them just to make sure nothing is going on "down there"

Hello All :)
Not in a good mood today. Not pissy, but just not feeling happy either, just blah.. I'm also tired, Nikolas was up at 7 and he's good to go.
I woke up feeling tons of pressure down into my vaginal area. No accompanying contractions though so I'm just waiting it out. Brian was supposed to email a few numbers of people at his job in case I need him, but he never did. So pretty much if I need him, unless he's at his desk, I'm s.o.l. :/
I talked to the girl this morning that's giving us the furniture and mentioned how I was stressing that the room wasn't done yet. She reassured me that her husband would get the stuff over to us. I hope it happens this weekend. I still need to get a mattress cover and mattress for this crib and want to get that done.
I used a Swiffer duster to clean the living room and it looks pretty good. Now I just have to tackle the bathroom, kitchen and eventually the floors. But like I said, I'm feeling blah today, but it needs to be done.
On one good note, we're opening our pool this weekend :D I'm so excited. It's been so hot here that I look at it and wish I could just take a dip. Lay out on the raft while Nikolas is sleeping and get some color on this very white body.
Anyway, sorry this post is all about me. Just needed to let it all out somewhere and I know you ladies can relate. Hopefully my day will get better. BBL.

Good morning ladies!
I had my first uncomfortable pregnant day yesterday. Round ligament pain all day, which made walking and getting around a PITA, especially at work. And I was exhausted too - I think the weather is getting to my sinuses. So I took a warm bath, went to bed really early, and feel pretty good today.
I have an OB appointment today, just the regular ole checkup, and DH can't come, which is fine by me since the appointments are so short. Will your DH come to every appointment once you get down to the weekly ones? There's a part of me that just hates to have to get him out of work that often - I'd rather him use his Baby Card for when the baby is actually here. At any rate, I'm a bit terrified to step on the scale today...I've been starving lately and eating a ton. Somehow I feel our little guy is experiencing a growth spurt or something.
Threadmistresses - could you please update my appointments to add one today May 5th, and then another OB appointment on May 24th? Thanks!

Has anyone heard from MrsBrownie recently? I don't think I've seen a post from her all week.
ETA: Her last post on CC was 4/26.
Hmmmm... interesting.... She could very well be our first mama....
Was it you, Kaeden's, who had the dream about the first June mama? I'm totally curious now who the dream was about! C'mon spill it already (if it was you who had the dream, that is!)

I'm back...
I can't & won't spill until the first baby is born. I really don't want to make anyone panic, especially now that we're all so close. Like I promised as soon as the first baby is announced, I will reveal and Kaeden's Mommy can tell you if I was right or not.
connorsmommy It isn't nesting, however I did clean just because it needed it.
I didn't want the last post to be a woe is me, but there is a reason I am blah/down. I lost the baby before Nikolas on May 5th, 2003. That is why I'm feeling the way I'm feeling today. I keep reliving that day in my head and it still hurts. And even though I have that sadness, I am very lucky that I have Nikolas and this little man inside of me.
Nikolas insisted I sit on the floor with him while he was playing. And although I wasn't crying in front of him, I'm pretty sure he sensed something was wrong cause he kept coming over giving me hugs and kisses. I usually don't get those until down time or bed time. It's made today a little more easier. And so has cleaning. Keeping me busy.
I guess I posted it now cause I thought as the day went on it would be better but I'm still blah. Sorry to bring the board down :/
One good thing did happen so far today. The lady that bought the desk from us sent us a $25 gift card to WalMart :D She thanked us for helping her load it into the truck and she forgot a piece and Brian drove about 10 miles to catch her and give it to her. I thought that was very nice. Now I have $$ to buy curtains for the window in the guest room, if we ever get Niko's stuff out of there.
Ok, I'm off to either nap or do something. BBL.

Just wanted y'all to know that I am headed to the hospital in an hour or so. My feet are huge and swollen which made me call my doctor. My blood pressure is high so he wants to observe me for 24 hours. If things don't get better, they'll deliver the baby but he didn't sound like that would probably happen. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I'll update you as I can.

I was just coming on here to ask about Mrs. Brownie. I hope all is well with her and her little guy.
QOTD: I don't know if DH will come with me to every appointment now or not. My dr's office is about 5 minutes from where I work, but DH has to travel about 20 minutes from his office to get there. I tend to feel like it's kinda silly for him to come to every one and waste sick time, plus I'm kind of a "deal with it on my own" kind of person. But he doesn't seem to mind. Since he was in the room at my last appointment when I had an internal the doctor told him he could "play the role of nurse". :rolleyes:
My boss left on vacation this week (she's gone for all but one week in May- it's the start of a new fiscal year, I could go any day, I'm supposed to show her how to do some of the things I do- *sigh* I'm refusing to let myself get stressed out by her bad timing), and she left a big bag of peanut butter m&m's on my desk. I appreciate the thought, but peanut butter m&m's are a huge weakness for me. I've eaten the whole bag over a course of 2 days. I feel like such a cow. :( Now that I'm finished I've put myself on a sugar fast. We'll see how long that lasts...
Since Connor's Mommy mentioned her garage sale (good luck btw), I thought I'd mention the sale I stopped at this am on my way in to work. The ad said lots of baby things, so I gave it a look. There were lots of baby things, but I could have purchased them brand new for almost the same price! A swing for $50, a pnp for $60, an umbrella stroller for $50, and most of the clothes were $5. Maybe if they had been really high-end items...but even if they were that's high for my semi-rural part of Illinois. Oh well, I didn't really need any of that stuff anyway...:rolleyes:
ETA: hope all is well sarahncraig.

Sarah ~ You and your baby are definitely in my thoughts and prayers. FWIW, I had elevated BP and tons of swelling for weeks when I was pg with my DS and he was delivered full-term since I didn't have pre-eclampsia.

sarahncraig - thinking of you and praying for the best! I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything is alright and that your little babe can cook a bit longer...
I think I'm on the tail end of the June mommies (EDD is June 24th), and it's just now sinking in how many of you are going to deliver before I am. I don't know if I'll be able to stand all the suspense and stories! It could either get me really excited or totally freaked out, I'm not sure which one!

QOTD dh goes to appts with me by choice. he actually likes going to them - he likes our doc alot as well and he feels like he learns a whole lot. he'll keep going even when i'm down to weekly appts.
BH mine are getting more and more intense, not painful but extremely tight and intense and sometimes uncomfortable.
sarahncraig definitely thinking about u - i pray all goes well. a friend of mine is getting induced next week cos her BP was high and her swelling has continued so the doc doesnt want to take any chances cos the baby is measuring kinda big already.
hope everyone else is doing okay.....nikos hope u feel better and yay for nikolas being so attentive.

Every day this week has felt like a Monday and today is dragging. When will the weekend begin?!
DH's dreadful co-worker had a baby yesterday. They used the boy name DH and I picked out years ago and have kept secret. Oh well. We don't often socialize with this couple, so it really doesn't matter. But it really feels strange to use "our baby's name" when referring to someone else's child. I know I'm a nut. We don't even know if we are having a boy!
I hate complaining about my aches-and-pains, but this really is the first week that I've thought, "Okay. I'm ready to not be pregnant!" I, of course, want my baby to stay put for a while...but between my crappy mood, rib pain, swelling, snoring, and indigestion....well, it makes the days a bit difficult to get through with a smile on my face. Oh, and fabulous news, I suspect the two stretch marks that have recently appeared around my bellybutton have opened the door to PUPP. After reading Dan*sgirl's post about her rash and looking it up on-line, I'm uncertain if my itchy belly is the result of stretching skin or the beginnings of PUPP. :(
Okay. That's enough of that.
Good news: the baby is very entertaining this week with all his or her squirming around, my best friend is coming for a visit this weekend AND my Mom is coming up for a couple days at the beginning of next week, my MIL finally got the shower invitations out, and several people told me this week that I'm looking good--nice to hear when you feel like poop. :D
Now for SOs:
Sarah: Thinking of you and your little one! I hope you are either sent home today with a clean bill of health or that you have a wonderful labor & delivery and get sent home in a day or two with a healthy baby!
MrsBrownie: Where are you??? Hope everything is okay.
NikosMommy: Big hugs to you. I'm sure it has been a tough day.
QOTD: DH has gone with me to every appointment (but one) and will likely continue to do so. My appointments are on Wednesday evenings after work so DH doesn't have to take any time off to come along.

Sarah & Nikko's - Thinking of you both.
Round Ligament pain has subsided a bit.
QOTD-If it's just a regular Ob appt. DH doesn't go. If I'm getting an U/S or something he usually does. He always wants to, just can't get off.

Hi Ladies- it seems like many of us are having some rough days lately. Guess it's to be expected this far along.
I went yesturday to Old Navy with Mia. Not long after we got there I started feeling really bad- lightheaded, shaky, etc. It took me 20 minutes to get to the car- 15 of them sitting in the entry way of Sears (on the floor) with my car 20 feet away. I almost had to lay down to keep from passing out. I was sweating and my ears were ringing, all the time trying to keep a straight head since Mia was with me. I finally got us to the car and laid in there for another 5-10 minutes before I felt well enough to drive us home. Unfortunately I had to tell Mia I couldn't take her to gymnastics since I wasn't feeling well. She whined a little about it, but when we pulled in the garage and she realized I was serious, she started bawling. I felt so horrible. She LOVES going, but I didn't feel safe driving her another 15 mintues to get there. I know it was my blood sugar dropping that made me feel so bad, but I've been able to control it so well with this pregnancy by watching my diet, I really wasn't expecting an episode like that (I had them like that all the time when pregnant with Mia). I just wish I knew what set it off- I hadn't had anything that should have caused it to drop that severely. Oh well, at least I'm feeling better today, and I'll no longer be going ANYWHERE alone with Mia the rest of this pregnancy.
Sarah: Good luck- we'll be thinking of you.
QOTD: DH went to almost every appt when I was pregnant with Mia. I don't think he's made it to any this time around. I've even had 4 ultrasounds and he's only made one of those. It's too hard for him to get off work this time around, so I'm on my own.
Nikos: Sorry today's been so hard. I still remember the exact days of my miscarriages (Nov 10, 2004 and July 20, 2005). I think those days will always be a part of me. I also remember my EDDs very well. I'm hoping this baby will help heal parts of that saddness- giving me something else happy to remember in June, instead of remembering that I should already have a June baby that would be turing a year old. Most of the time I don't think about it anymore. Other times it still feels as hard as it was when it first happened. I'll be thinking of you today and wishing you a speedy day so you can focus on the good things again.
Weekend: No real weekend plans. Maybe the three of us will just hang out and let Mia dictate what we do (play outside, paint, whatever)- we haven't done that in so long and I'd like for her to have a few days like that before this baby comes.

Sarah I hope all is well with you. I posted my story a week or so ago to Mrs Brownie but I too had high bp and horrible swelling from about 35 weeks on with my second baby. I delivered at 40 w 3 days. I never had any of the other pre eclampsia indicators though--like protein in my urine, headaches, blurred vision etc. So I really hope you are just swollen and can keep your baby in for a little bit longer!!
Nikos I'm sorry you are having a rough day. Isn't Niko sweet to give you some extra affection!
QOTD With my first baby DH came to every appointment. With the 2nd he came to about 2/3. With this one, maybe half. Truth is that most of them are so short and uneventful that it really is almost easier not to have him there! But I am glad he remains so interested!

Nikos ~ I'm sorry I forgot to comment earlier on your tough day. I'd meant to but spaced it out. I am so sorry that you're having a tough day due to the m/c in 2003. I'm sure it's not much consolation but I'm sure your little angel is looking down over Niko and his baby brother right now.

Thank you all for your support. It really means a lot to me. Nikolas is a super cool kid. He's been acting silly all day and it's been making me laugh, something I need right now.
I can honestly say that the hormones are making today so much harder than usual. I wasn't this bad last year.
So my house is pretty much spotless with the exception of the tub and the floors. I will work on the floors later and the tub when I get in the shower tonight. I also have to clean off the table & stuff on the patio so we can start enjoying it. I'll do that later tonight though, it's bombarded with the afternoon sun and it's been sitting out all year so it's loaded with dirt.
Well Nikolas just got up from his nap so I have to go.
Thanks again for the support.

Niko- Sorry you were having such a rough day. I know it is a hard balance, I want to mourn the loss of my angel babies yet at the same time I am so thankful for the lil guy brewing in my belly.
Connorsmommy- You girls are so funny about your DHs. Mine is so lucky that he is so cute when he naps or he would have been in for it last night. He made this huge display last week about how he got quarters for laundry because he is such an extraordinary husband and then when I went to go do laundry yesterday we didn't have any because he used them all on the vending machine at work. We have a ton of nickels and dimes in there that he could have used but no he had to use the quarters that I use for laundry.
Jay&Erinn- That is scary. I can't imagine feeling that weird and disoriented and having to not scare your lil one. I had my bs go down once at work and it was just so surreal. You made the right decision not taking Mia to gymnastics.
~~~
I got a nice little suprise today! One of the girls at work has two kids and while they were shopping at Target last night they bought me a fp Ocean Wonders Aquarium. I guess the lil girl and her brother wanted to pull their allowance together to buy it for me and coworker couldn't resist and bought it for me. I need to write a thank you letter for just the kids because that was just so sweet! The funniest part is that I must have only met them 1-2 times and they remembered my last name and pulled up my registry and everything. How adorable is that?? I guess I have a couple of other things coming but the kids took it in the house to show off what they bought.
Oh and my interview is all set up for Monday. I need to spend the weekend preparing.
nikosmommy I wish I had your energy. I had all of this cleaning that I was planning on doing today, but couldn't get my butt off of the couch. At least I got the last of my baby gear put together. The highchair was a real b*tch to get together. I was dreading the PNP, b/c my friend told me that hers was really hard to put together, but it was the easiest out of everything. I guess hers was harder b/c it was a different brand (Eddie Bauer) than mine (Graco).
DH Mine is irritating me at the moment, too. His dinner plate has been sitting on the end table since he finished eating 2 hours ago, with food still on it and he keeps piling trash onto it from his snacks. Just empty it into the trash and get rid of it already!:mad: He didn't even take the hint when I moved it b/c it was right in my face as I was trying to read. I like ruby's plan to padlock him into the nursery for the weekend to finally finish what he needs to do in there.
Hello again :)
jbenny I didn't really have the energy at all. I just needed to keep as busy as possible today.
Brian came home tonight and commented on how clean the house looks. It was nice of him to acknowledge my work. On the other hand though, he doesn't remember what today is. If he does, he hasn't said anything about it, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't remember.
So tomorrow is floor & patio day for me. It's finish what he can in the boys room and pool day for Brian. I don't think we're getting the furniture tomorrow either, they never called to set up anything. I'm a little upset but being we're getting it for free, I can't do anything about it.
Well I'm off to bed. Thanks again for the support ladies.
It's definitely DH Sucks Day around here.
Mine told me yesterday that I didn't need a glider, that we needed to watch our 'superfluous spending' etc. The whole speech (and I've bought very, very little for this kid since we have a lot of stuff from our daughter still around.)
Today, a package arrived for him- an autographed NFL football. He is SO in the doghouse right now, and I am getting a glider.
The DH stories are cracking me up. Sorry some of you are dealing with difficult spouses.
My appointment went well today - short and sweet. I'll be 33 weeks tomorrow and am measuring at 31 1/2, which makes me nervous that this little guy is just hanging out until July. And to my surprise, I was only up 1lb for a total of 19 from my 6-week appt (but 21 on my home scale). Only two more weeks until my next u/s which will determine whether I can deliver vaginally. My OB today told me that we'll make some kind of decision at my next appointment after the u/s. If the placenta hasn't migrated, I'm looking at a c-section (rationale being that if it hasn't moved by 35 weeks, the chance are very small it will budge before labor). If I DO have to have a c-section, I could be scheduled as early as 37 weeks if the baby is to term. GULP! We're going to our childbirth class and hospital tour tomorrow...
As for my own QOTD, DH would LOVE to come to every appointment. But I hate to pull hiim out of work (20-30 minutes away) for a 5-minute appointment when I'm going every week. We'll see. He's wanting to come regardless of the hassle, which is really sweet.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
My hubby was actually pretty sweet tonight. He went shopping and bought all my favorites and grilled it up on the BBQ. We watched baseball for a little while and now he has crashed (even before the game is over).
His band is playing tomorrow night and I have barely seen him all week. I think that is what makes him bearable ;)
Oh, to be a fly on the wall for that....;)
Mine pulled something like that not too long ago....he wanted to buy some motorcycle off of Ebay, but when my A/C was broken in my car, he didn't want me to get it fixed. Hello? I'm gonna be driving around with a baby in the car! The A/C got fixed, the motorcycle got nixed.
He also just went to bed and left a mess. :mad: He finally cleaned up his first dinner plate and trash, but then made himself some frozen burritos. He left that plate on the end table with his empty glass. In the kitchen he left the empty salsa jar, the empty shredded cheese bag, and the used wax paper from the microwave.:mad: Now I have to go to bed mad and listen to him snoring away peacefully.:rolleyes: Is it a full moon or something that all the DH's are being PITA's today?
Glad to know many of our DHs are idiots tonight and not just mine.
Mine decided to clean his guns tonight. He made a mess with all his crap and then proceeds to leave it there forever (not the guns just the cleaning stuff). I've been home ALL day with Kaeden since I worked from home today. I wanted 1/2 hour to myself to read a book and take a bath. Of course K doesn't want to go to bed and is crying so DH gets crabby and mad at me because he can't finish cleaning his gun. Hello, dummy...wait until K goes to bed next time. :rolleyes:
So, how long did it take for him to dislodge the football from his rear end? (and did it require medical assistance?)
I told a longer version of my DH story in my journal this afternoon when I needed to get it out of my system. Basically, I went out to run a couple of short errands to get out of the house. Told DH that I wouldn't be gone more than 1.5 hours at the most. He knew exactly where i was going, and the fact that I didn't need to add any errands to my list. Then he tried to call me but I didn't hear my cel (deep in my purse). I only heard his third call. Answered it while at a red light, told him I had one more errand to run and then would be home... He started bitching about me not answering cel. I said "ok, the traffic light is green now, gotta go" And then he proceeded to call me FOUR more times in the next 30 min. I didn't hear those calls either (not sure why).
In the mean time, I had started cramping & getting BH's during my last errand, so I took it easy and calmly went home.... walked in the door to DH bitching about how he couldn't get ahold of me (I call his BS - the last 4 calls were to "test" me b/c he was pissed I"d only answered 1 of 3 calls -- I don't believe there was any very important reason to keep calling me...)
I try to tell him to stop bitching at me b/c I don't need the stress while I'm contracting. He didn't stop his bitching and I had to tell him to get the F out of my face. (something I would never normally say to him, but it was that bad...)
Anyway... he's still in the dog house here... (thank god, he's working evening shift and I haven't had to see him for several hours...)
I thought i had replied to some of these already, but apparently not.
Sorry for the DH's being a royal PITA.
sarahncraig has been added to the race for the 1st June mommy. I wish the best for whomever it is.
DH and appts - He goes to them whenever he is in town. He really likes going and sometimes has his own questions to ask. I make my appt for 8:20a so we both go on our way to work and since the office is only 5ish minutes from home it really isn't far out of the way for either of us.
DH has been out of town during the week for the last 2 weeks. Last night he moved the crap he had pulled out of the closet and dumped in the middle of the baby's room. Now half of the closet is clear. The other half of the closet is my stuf. I need to go through it and tell him what to do with it. Having the baby shower at our house is a definite motivation for us (him mostly) to get stuff done. I still haven't gotten into the nesting stage. Luckily DH has been picking up my slack.
DH is traveling again next week. He is officially grounded from traveling on May 17 (or weeks end). Even though I think this baby is going to hold on until the due date, I don't want to be home alone up to the end.
Well, DH came home from work late last night, sucked up lots and apologized for letting it get out of hand and not stopping his bitching when I was having contrax's.
So all is well in our world.
As for DH being grounded from travelling. Originally, his boss was going to send him on a 3 1/2 weeks course by DFW airport -- yes, practically the other side of the continent from us -- from April 24th to May 19th. (he's an aircraft maintenance engineer, btw) But I quickly nixed that for two reasons: 1) *I* love to go on those courses with him -- and have been to that location with him in the past -- *I* want to be able to go with him (and bring the kids too of course).... and 2) Uh, gone a whole month in my 3rd trimester when I'm already a known preterm labourer...with a 3 year old at home. NO WAY.
Luckily, his boss just wasn't thinking clearly - he's a family man himself (4 grown boys, and always has 3-4 foster kids at any given time), and he just wasn't thinking... :) Instead, the plan is to send DH on that course in late Sept/early Oct, which is PERFECT timing for the kids and I to join hiim! :)
Anyway, I'm babbling.....
I do have one other important piece of news. Remember all my complaints about my hips going out of joint all the time and causing a lot of pain when I'm walking? This has been going on since February I think, and my chiropractic visits were just barely helping me.
Well, I"m not exactly sure *when* the hip problem cured itself...but I suspect it was around the time I got the steroids a few days ago, and I have a feeling those steroids (administered like the rhoGam shot -- just to the side of my butt) had something to do with it...
I have virtually NO hip pain all of a sudden!! My hips aren't going out of joint. I sleep REALLY well, and when I get out of bed, I'm not collapsing b/c of the pain and inability to weight-bear! No more grabbing at the wall to brace myself! Complete and total miracle here!!! :)
So that's ONE pregnancy happy over here! :)
Hello All :)
No time for s.o.'s, just wanted to say sorry for all the butt-head dh's out there. I guess I lucked out this time, Brian is presently hanging wall border in the boys room. He also followed me after vacuuming this morning with the mop. After wall border he's going to switch the furniture between the two rooms. He's then going to finally bring all the paint supplies & tools downstairs. And it's all going to be followed up with cutting the grass. It seems like a lot, but it isn't, but I am so glad he's doing it all.
His reward: well let's just say, he'll be rewarded in a way he appreciates ;)
Gotta go help him. BBL.
So, how long did it take for him to dislodge the football from his rear end? (and did it require medical assistance?)
I am so heartened by the number of people who have asked me that very question. :D
Trust me, I am taking full advantage of the situation. As we speak DH is driving to the donut store on my behalf. And he even brought DD with him.
u guys are cracking me up with the butt-head dh's around....mine was great yday but i am SO p.o-ed with him right now.....we have a graduation party to go to and guess who decides its time to do the lawn :mad: so i have to sit and wait on him to get finished (gonna be a while) and then he still has to shower and get ready.....gggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrr.
not much else to report except i have a shower t'row afternoon. i'm excited about it but i havent seen anything go of my registry so i decided to not look at it cos i dont want to be disappointed if i dont get the stuff i need. i already know i am getting some clothes (cos i've been told) and their might be some money in the mix (from an aunt cos she wants me to get what i need the most). i'm still looking fwd to it though and hopefully its going to be a blast. i am kinda disappointed that some of my friends wont be there but oh well.
hope u guys are having a great saturday.
Shaq, My registry was the same way. I only got like 5 items off of it. Mostly homemade blankets and clothes. :rolleyes: Nice stuff, but not what I really needed. Hope you have a great time!
I didn't get alot of registry stuff either.
maryanne-My Dh's band(s) are playing tonight too. Yes bands! Because you know, you have tons of time to be in two bands with your wife about to have a baby and all, geez! He's been busy all week and will be all weekend and I am starting to get pissed and lonely. I'm so glad this is the last show before the baby.
Dh was a really big butt last night at BRU. He said I kept talking to him like he was stupid and I was telling him what all the baby still needed and he tells me to buy the stuff and quit whining about it. It's really not even a lot of stuff. When I ask him WITH WHAT, he has no answer for me. This goes round and round every week. Should I take money out of savings, buy a little every payday, what???!!! And he won't tell me what to do. I don't work so I don't just want to go around town spending all our money w/o him knowing, I'm trying to be polite! He's driving me crazy. He did get some more sleepers last night and the letters for his name for the wall today.
I'm so whiny and depressed lately. I want Dh home with me all the time and he's not. I hope this is just a normal hormonal thing. I feel so left out, I can't do all the things he can go out and do, I'm stuck at home all the time and getting sick of it.
Just wanted you all to know that I am home from the hospital. Thank you so much for all of your prayers and concern. They monitored my blood pressure, the baby and did a 24-hour urine test to check for protein. I'll know about the test results when I see my OB on Monday. Everything looked fine.
Only problem is I am now home on bedrest. UGH! I'm going to be bored out of my gourd. Craig is going to let me put a bunch of stuff on Netflix so if you have any suggestions as to movies or tv programs to watch, please let me know. I'll get caught up on books and my knitting, I'm sure. The thing that sucks is the place is a mess, I can't clean it and it will be like pulling teeth to get Craig to do it. My friend, Heather, says I need to get my mom here for a few days to get things in order and clean up the place. I just don't know where she would sleep. We'll see how it goes for the next week or so and then have her come up.
Hello again :)
Sarah So glad you're home. Maybe you can get a cleaning service to come in and do a good clean. If you search the phonebook you can probably find someone at a reasonable price.
Today was a busy day. We got the wall border up. Changed the rooms around. All the floors are now clean (vacuumed & mopped), all the laundry is done and a few other things.
I went to TRU to get gift cards for 2 birthdays tomorrow and then WalMart to pick up paints to finish Nikolas' letters for his wall that I started when he was born - 20 months ago :rolleyes: Tomorrow it's on to the patio and a few other small things.
I got the baby clothes out of the basement and I am so glad I did. I need to buy more summer outfits for the baby. Niko was born at the end of Aug so I didn't realize that I didn't have that many, only 4. I HAVE TO GO SHOPPING :D There is a place around here called Forman Mills and I got Nikolas 7 outfits last year for $50. I'll be heading back there again soon.
Well I'm off to bed, we have another long day tomorrow. Have a good night.
Sarah, good to hear you're back and baby is still bakin' inside. I'm hearing you - I'm not totally on bedrest like that, but it's so hard to see things in the house that you want to do but can't anymore. I know it's soooo cliche, but sleep as MUCH as you can because... soon you won't be able to! ;)
************
Garage sale went good today...made decent money, but more importantly we cleared out a bunch of stuff taking up space. Biggest victory was selling our extra computer desk.... only made $20 on that piece of junk, but it sure beats having to haul it to the dump ourselves.
**************
Contractions came back late this afternoon.... about an hour ago, I had a few in a row and they were starting to worry me, but they've gone away. Now baby has the hiccups and is shaking me all about. LOL.... Oh well, beats the contractions (for now).... Something tells me I won't be going full term this time either.
hope you're all having a great weekend! :)
Morning ladies :D
Sarah I was thinking about it last night and WE LOVE The Amazing Race, all the seasons. I would definately get that on DVD if I had to watch something. A few of my fave movies are Ever After (Drew Barrymore), 50 First Dates and Mr. Wonderful (Matt Dillon).
connors yeah for getting rid of the stuff. Making money is so cool instead of just junking it too.
So today we finish up. There are two things I'm not looking forward to, cleaning the top of the fridge and the floor in the kitchen :( The fridge just cause I don't want to but the floor is the worst. Before we moved in I spilled paint on the floor and never really got it all up. Our plan was to redo the kitchen right away but I got pg and that got put on hold. So now that we're going to be having family come up and many visitors, the paint must go so it's going to be a chore. I think it would be easier to just redo the whole kitchen than get that paint up but Brian doesn't see it that way :D :p
So this morning Brian and I were looking at the ads in the paper and this is how our conversation went:
Me: I know what you can give me for Mother's Day
B: You're not my mom. What can Nikolas give you.
Me: Gabriel Michael
B: Nikolas to get you a stripper named Gabriel Michael
Me: I was hoping my Mother's Day card would be signed from Nikolas & Gabriel
B: I really really really hate that name and even though you like it, I really dont' want to use it, I hope you understand. Which I do.
So Gabriel is definately out, oh well :/ So Jaedon & Nathan are still the two choices.
Anyway, off to get motivated. BBL.
Sarah so glad you're still bakin', but sorry to hear you're on bedrest. :( That sucks!! I would totally drive myeslf crazy.
Shaq I hope you get stuff you need. I'm afraid we won't get things we need, either, since nobody has included registry cards in our shower invites. Same thing happened when we got married. *sigh*
Sugar levels have been high-ish lately. I think because I've been cheating here and there. I need to get back on the ball with this. I go to see the dietician a week from Tuesday and I'd like to have all my numbers for this coming week normal. Wish me luck!
OMG, y'all, I saw my uncle's baby girl yesterday. She'll be five months this week and she already weighs 27 pounds!!! :eek: The poor girl just lays there, she's so big she can't move, and her breathing sounds really labored. How crazy is that??
sarah GLad you're home with the baby still baking. Have you seen The Notebook? As for tv, some good tv series to get on Netflix would be Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, and The Sopranos- can you tell I love HBO series? I just read a great book called Marley and Me. Hope that helps a bit.
Nikosmommy LOL at Brian asking you if Nikolas should give you a stripper named Gabriel Michael! Sorry he doesn't like the name!
Not getting items from your registry I got most of my stuff, but there was a bit of stuff that I still needed to get. There would have been more, but one of my friends noticed that it didn't seem like a lot of things were being bought from the registry, so her and another friend went together and bought a bunch of stuff. Anyway, my point is that I wanted to tell you that I got enough in gift cards, cash, and duplicate gift credit to pay for what I still needed to get. You might get gift cards and cash to help you out with the stuff you still need to buy.
Oh, Six Feet Under! How could I forget. I LOVE this show. I love the Amazing Race too!
I ended up getting my fat butt out at 11:30 last night to see my DH's bands play since it was close to home and everyone told me it wasn't that smokey and tons of our friends were there, I stayed home until it was time for them to go on. When all was said and done I probably didn't go to sleep until around 3 because when Dh got home from the show he was talking my ear off! I'm glad he was so excited and it went so well because it's the last one before the baby comes. I was tired but it was nice to get out and chat with friends for a while. It seems like I never see anyone or do anything anymore! Too bad I barely saw the performance because this one girl was talking to me so much.
I third the Six Feet Under suggestion.... That's one of my all time favourite shows...was sooo sad when it ended last summer.
Actually I treated myself to the Season 5 set a few weeks ago, and it's currently residing in my hospital bag for something to watch when in labour at the hospital. Looking forward to revisiting the final season! :)
Sarah - Glad to hear that you and baby are fine, but that stinks about the bedrest! I totally agree with the above posts on Six Feet Under. Love it. We also really liked Arrested Development, if you're an off-beat humor kind of gal. As far as movies go, I'm totally drawing a blank. We're into the stupid ones like Old School.
Hello again :)
Six Feet Under how could I forget that one too. Then again Sex & The City, Sopranos, Oz, a few good HBO ones there that we like(d).
So I have the best husband right now. Although the paint is still on the kitchen floor (we don't have anything to clean it with yet) he scrubbed every other part of it for me. He even moved the stove & fridge - which I wouldn't have done at all :rolleyes: The floor is old and worn but as clean as it could possibly be now, I'm so happy :D He's also cutting the grass and when he's done with that he'll be hanging the curtain rods in the boys room. I may even get him to clean the patio.
All I have left to do is make the birth announcements, make a valance for the new window, put away Niko's winter clothes and paint those letters. I'll probably do those first.
All we need is the furniture for the baby and our house is completely done :D Clean and ready for baby and company. Adn then we can have our little one too :D
05-07-2006, 06:23 PM
so i had my shower today and just like i thought....not much from the registry :rolleyes: we did get stuff like burp cloths, money, gift cards (not to BRU though were we are registered but they'll help with diapers), our pack n play (except not the design we wanted cos of the discontinued problem), a boppy (i have THREE now :rolleyes: ), a child care/grooming kit (also our 3rd one), sleepers and some other stuff (some of it that i doubt we'll use and i have no clue where it came from).
the shower was really nice though - i'll post some pics soon. i like that it was just relaxed and we didnt do any cheesy games, just chatted, ate and opened gifts and i got to hang out with friends i hadnt seen in a while. dh surprised me with the cake. he got the lady who did our wedding cake to make the shower cake and it looked like a present! very cute and oh so yummy! it was so cool to have one of my best friends drive from 2hrs away to come to the shower and she only got to spend like an hr cos she had drive right back to finish her papers and study for exams. that meant SO much to me.
alright i'm off to munch on soem of that cake - i go to the doc on wednesday and boy do i know that scale is going show the results of this week-ends eating splurges!!!
pink i'm going to wash it at the end of may - i figure i still have some time!
Hello again :)
Pink I think the stuff will stay fresh no matter when you wash it. The girl that gave me all of Niko's stuff was from the year previous and it all smelled so good. I just unpacked the newborn clothes and they still smelled good.
Shaq You can look at the websites of the local stores in your areas and see if they carry the stuff. If they do, you can try to exchange it with them. You probably won't get the $$ back, but you may be able to get something in it's place.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So progress was made :) I made the valance, started to paint the letters, put away winter clothes, and found some more clothes for the baby. Brian mowed and weed wacked and it took him 3.5 hours so he didn't get to hang the curtain rods. He said he'll do it tomorrow.
I have an u/s at 7:15 and then a dr appt at 10:30. Even though it's time for the internal I'M SO EXCITED about the appt. We will pick an induction date tomorrow. Of course that can be all just talk if little man decides to come sooner.
Speaking of which, I've been having contractions all day, closest being 10 minutes apart. And I keep getting these shooting pains down the center of my abdomen into my vagina. I thought UTI but I'm not having pain when I urinate. So I finally called the dr and she said it's just him moving into position. I don't remember this pain with Nikolas. Either way, it hurts.
Well I'm off to bed. Have to be up early and have a long day.

Sarah I am glad you and baby are ok. I am sorry you are bedrest. Do they want you on bedrest for the rest of your pg? Do you have a laptop? That saved me alot when I was on beddrest. I also watched alot of Sex and the City. Loved that show!

Hi everyone. just a quick drive by post!
PinkieJosh has the dual band thing going too. Now he's moping around saying it is his last gig EVER cause of the baby...lol! I have to laugh since his misery is all self imposed. I have never told him that he couldn't play, infact I kinda cherish the nights that he's rehearsing lol :) I get to watch what I want on tv--no sports.
Josh's bandmate (and our groomsman) is selling his house after a divorce. I just realized that our place is probably goinjg to become the next gathering space for everyone. (I am not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing) but we have the largest yard and house. It's strange cuz Jimmy's house was the central spot for 15 years...
sarah, bedrest is annoying! I tend to try to watch some of the edducational shows too, just to not let my mind rot. I have turned totally noctunal, so I tivo a lot of shows that play during the day and watch them late night too.
as for getting stuff togethor for the baby, I highjack a specific amount of my disability check and it goes straight to the baby's stuff that I need to buy. They (men!) don't have a clue when it comes to getting ready for the baby. AGGGRH!
So I have some news. After all my pouting about a shower, it looks like Josh convinced my family to throw one. The funny part is that they decided on the date and made it for the weekend that Josh and I are going camping with all our friends. When Josh told them that we were absolutely NOT changing our trip, they finally changed it to Sat June 3rd :):) Something tells me that it is going to be interesting!
We went to a Greek festival to get gyros and shishakbobs yesterday...how fun and yummy.
I have a doctor's appt today at 1---32 weeks!

Moring All :D
Well had a shock at my u/s this morning. The baby is measuring 39 weeks :eek: That is 3 weeks ahead of me :eek: He's also coming in at 7 lbs, 9 oz which puts him in the 83% for babies at this gestation age.
So I am so going to get my dr to commit to an induction date. The dr I saw this morning reminded me that my dr is very conservative, but I'm going to try my hardest to get him here asap. If he bakes too much longer, how much bigger will he get?
They also had to pretty much search in my pubic hair for his head :rolleyes: He is very low and they said he's laying right on my cervix and behind my pubic bone.
So dr is in a few hours and then I'll be back hopefully with a definate date.

maryanne I'm glad you're getting a shower!!
nikosmommy Oh my goodness! You're still my fav in the race for the first June baby.
detergent I'm debating about this, too, b/c we have an HE front-loader washer. If I don't use the special detergent, my machine gets stinky from too much soap residue. It's also harder on my washer to use regular detergent because it produces a lot more suds than the HE stuff. They make Tide HE Free (I think that's what it's called) with no dyes or perfumes. I was wondering if that would work okay.

I have front loading HE maytags myself, and I bought a jug of regular Tide Free for Dawson's stuff (for our stuff, we use regular Tide HE). Washing all of his stuff, I've just used a very small amount of Tide Free, since it's not HE and will lather up too much if I use the regular amount.
They make Tide HE FREE now??! That makes me VERY happy, I've been waiting forever for that...but, ugh, sometimes I hate living in Canada, because it takes forever for specialty items like that to hit our store shelves. I've been saying for a year that they need to make Tide HE Free for us front-loader folks. When did it become available in the USA? EVERYTIME I'm in the laundry aisle at different stores, I scan it to see if there's such a product. Maybe I should just call Tide's cust. serv. and ask them when it's coming here...

and another QOTD for my own curiosity....
I'm just wondering where everyone from this thread came here from.... What I mean is that CC is where WC brides gathered last year after they changed their site around and pissed off a bunch of WC messageboard users.... and I know that probably a majority of you came from there (I totally recognize a few names, such as JesVet and Mystikal to name a few).... but have some of you come to CC through a different way (ie. surfed on in, found out about CC from a friend)? And if you were a WC original, when were you there and what was your username?
As for me, I'm a WC'er from wayyyyy back when they first opened their message boards in 2000, thought I wasn't a very active member before I got married in 2001. My handle there was kare71401. I then migrated to LJ along with a bunch of my WC friends about 2 1/2 years ago.... and then came over here after I got pg with Dawson...
gotta run....

I was a WCer who really got focked with the turnover. It happened about 6 weeks before my wedding and I couldn't get in and access my journal --it drove me cuckooo! I needed some of the info in there.
I eventually followed Maplekitty and Kimberland over here, but didn't really join the boards full time until after the second part of our honeymoon which was three weeks after our wedding and when I found out we were pregnant.

Sarah- I am glad to hear that you and the baby are okay.
Shaq- I hardly got anything off my registry either. The people there did bring it up and they said that the way Target has it set up in the store is really confusing and that they tried and gave up.
~~~
So I had my shower this weekend! It was a great group... My mom being the dork she is told everyone over the phone that it was a boy this week so I still got a ton of boy clothes. I'm kind of upset because I thought it would be fun to suprise everyone and I wanted to be there when they found out. Oh well.
Anyways we still got a lot of great stuff. We got our diaper genie, DH's loaded daddy diaper bag (a black Eddie Bauer one), lots of bibs, teethers, toys, some children's books, another baby monitor (this one will stay at Mom's and Dad's), and then a ton of cute clothes.
The big hit of the shower was the chocolate fountain. My mom bought one and then sliced up a bunch of strawberries, bananas, pretzels, and wafers. I couldn't get the girls away from it.
Anyways here is a picture of the food table. I hope my mom took a picture of the presents table because she told me to put the camera down and took the rest of the pictures.
lil mrs- it looks like you had a great shower! cute table and cake!
nikos- holy smokes. . 39 weeks! good luck getting your doctor to take him early!
well, I had my last two showers this weekend. the first one was a small group of my friends from school- kind of boring but it was great to catch up with everyone. the second one though was all my mom's friends and they really hooked me up. I got about a million bottles (my dads former secreatry works for Johnson and Johnson so they really hooked me up) half a million blankets, clothes, car seat and stroller, play gym, tons of toys, bath tub and towels, bouncy seat. . . lots of small stuff that I know I'll need but we are going to be doing a ton of exchanging. I mean, how many blankets does a baby need???
which brings me to my next question- isn't there a list somewhere of how many of each things you need? like how many crib sheets and how many receiving blankets? stuff like that. thanks in advance for anyone that knows.
I had my doctors appointment last Thursday- she told me that the baby is measuring above average. I didn't go into detail or ask any questions because I really don't want to spend the next 6 weeks worrying about labor. she's gotta come out somehow!
Here's the one at BRU.com:
New Paren't Checklist (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/subst/stores/baby/parent-checklist.html/ref=ba_br_o_npc/102-5289265-6336102)
They also have one in-store and there's one in Baby Bargains, as well, if you have that.
coming to CC ~ I was a WCer too. My nick was blueyedbride. I migrated here quickly - I think I was member #18 over here or something.
perfect! thank you maryanne and jbenny! I need to go shopping to finish out what I didn't get and I am going to have to some serious DH convincing on the things I want!
QOTD- I was on WC when I was planning my wedding in 2002 and was so frustrated with long distance planning (lived in Houston, married in VA Beach) that my screen name, shouldaeloped, was born!
Cute pics LilMrs.
I was a WC'er too from way back.
I've been throwing up again. I am so tired of feeling like crap!
wow.. as usual I missed alot...but see if I can catch up.
Connors: I came from WC.. I was ryanm33 over there and then I moved to here... :)
Shaq: Your shower sounds like mine.. Yup.. we had my surprise shower yesterday and my girlfriends/family did a wonderful job! I was so ticked at my SIL (DH's brothers's wife)... she basicly told me that my surprise shower was this weekend.. last week.. so I was really upset. But the other girls did such a nice job!! But we did not get alot off my registry I must say I am really disappointed in BRU... even stuff that we did get.. was not deleted from our registry.... I want to complain at how awful their site is... (plus half the stuff says "not available" but that only means on-line.. not necessarily in the store)... just so frustrating....
Sara: Hope you feel better
Nikos: WOW.. almost there
Pink: not sure about detergent.
Maryanne: great news about the shower..
Me: We had a wedding this weekend and my shower.. which I will post photos later!!!
Have a good day!
Lil Mrs: sorry you slipped in while I was posting... great photos!
Hello Again :D
Well I'm back from the dr. I'm 2 to 3 cm dilated, 50% effaced and his head is right there. She doesn't think I will last, but if I do May 20th will be the date. She is on call all weekend so I'll have her there. I have to go to the hosp at around 4 in the morning but I need to be ready to go on the 19th if they have a bed for me.
She didn't get the u/s report, but I told her what they told me and she said the weight can go a pound either way but the head measurements are usually right on cause that's an actual measurement, not an estimate. So she does think 39 weeks measurement is good to go.
So I called FIL to see if he can come up on the 19th for the weekend to take care of Nikolas. My sis & mom will come the following Mon to Fri. I have to contact Niko's godmother to see if she can come the week after. And then see if the baby's godmother can come after that.
And I'm making all these plans, but life is what happens when you make plans so I'm thinking that my plans will be plans and not reality.
So I talked to the girl who's giving us the furniture and I told her about what the dr said and how now I'm stressed and she's being a little non chalant about getting me the stuff. I'd like to have it asap so we can finish setting up the room and have it ready for the baby, but she seems to think that we have time. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get it soon.
Well I have to get some food and send out an email to friends & family. BBL.
Nikos – wow, 39 weeks.
Detergent – I plan to use what I got until the baby tells me otherwise. I have All Free & Clean and Arm and Hammer. I have a front loader too, but have never used the HE detergents. I just use very little regular detergent and don’t have soap residue. I always do the extra rinse and if there are suds then I know I’ve used too much detergent. I do not like detergent residue.
Lil_mrs, shoulda, riyan and shaq – glad you were pleased with your showers even though some didn’t get as much registry stuff as you would have hoped.
Maryanne – I’m glad you are getting a shower.
DH and I went to a birthday party for DH’s godson. I was asked quite a few times if we knew the sex. Of course I said no. One of his cousins was clever and said “Will a sex be a surprise to only us or to you too?”. I had to answer that it is also a surprise to us.
detergent I've always used All Free and Clear for all our laundry. I also add/soak in Oxyclean for the kids clothes--it works great to get out food stains.
WC I migrated from there to LJ and then came over here once I learned I was pg again. I am also somewhat active in the due date threads for my other kids. I was Rich'sbride on WC. I joined in 2001 but wasn't really involved until I was pg with Rachel in 2002.
maryanne yeah for your shower!
lil_mrs love the chocolate fountain! Your shower sounds like it was good fun.
Nikos Yikes! Measuring at 39 weeks! How exciting to have an induction date. Wonder if you will make it 2 more weeks!?
shoulda you got quite a haul!
Nothing exciting around here except we went to see the Wiggles Live yesterday. What thrills for the preschool set! www.thewiggles.com
Rachel refuses to call her baby sister Meredith. She had been calling her Abraham Lincoln, but she has now switched to Toyota. 3 year olds are strange creatures!
NikosMommy WoW! Congrats! Very very exciting!
I've been travelling for work and "leisure" (ha ha) lately so haven't been around much. We just got back on a red eye this morning that wasn't actually supposed to be a red eye so I'm pretty worn out. Flying this week-end was one of my worst experiences ever. I know we discussed swelling a few weeks back, but OMG!!!! My feet BLEW up on the plane and didn't go down over the week-end much. I could barely get my shoes on. So on last night's flight they swelled even more -- I've never been so uncomfortable on a plane -- it was lousy.
Plus, DD has decided that she hates her Sit n Stroll and decided to shriek on most of the outbound flight. It was a nightmare. Luckily she slept on most of the flight home since it was the middle of the night, but she was a whirlwind in the airport for the 6+ hours we were delayed.
I've come to the very sad realization that I don't think we'll take a vacation again for the next several years. I can't imagine repeating this process and calling it let alone considering it to be a "vacation." I already pulled the plug on some out-of-town week-ends this summer when my parents can't watch her and #2.
i do have a quick vent but i wont go into all the details of it but i was really annoyed with dh's sister cos they were supposed to get our travel system and well no plans have been made and last night i was so ticked off - we have less than 5wks to go and baby can come anytime so dh was upset with them and decided to just order the carrier and base and then we can get the stroller later. i am more upset since my work wanted to get us a big gift and the travel system was what they wanted to do and well i told them that his family is taking care of it so they were gonna do something else and now i feel like we were screwed. their lack of involvement has really irked me. i know this grandchild is like #8 but a little more involvement would be nice.
ryan I don't know why we got so lucky to have our registries screwed up. My friend who is PG had a HUGE registry and she didn't have any problems at all with it.
nikosmommy Wow! That's SO exciting. Your friend with the furniture is even stressing me out. What's wrong with her? If you want, some of us could get together and like go over there and kidnap the furniture or something!! Jeez...I can't figure out what's up with her.
shaq-Those same types of things have happened to us. But the people ended up coming thru, thank goodness! I was stressed to.
Niko's-I can't believe you are getting so close. That sucks that that lady is being so weird about the furniture.
lawyer-Love the names your 3 y/o is coming up with for Meredith!
Me, I just got done crying my freaking eyes out. My Dh alway thinks I am snapping at him and maybe I am sometimes (ok, alot of the time) but this time I was not and he hung up on me!!! He could not hear me so I started talking louder and he just goes "I'm sick of you yelling at me, you've been yelling at me for 2 weeks" click....I wasn't mad, I wasn't upset, I wasn't being rude, I was talking more loudly so he could hear. For some reason it broke my wittle heart. I could not stop crying. I cannot wait to not be pregnant anymore, I'm so hormonal and DH does not understand?!!!
Wow! Lots of showers this weekend. Fun stuff. Sounds like everyone had a good time...even though people didn't shop off the registries. Boo. I got an invitation for my shower in the mail on Friday and was happy to see the MIL remembered to list the places where we are registered.
Nikos: Oh my gosh! That is exciting news! I agree that we should all get together and rescue your furniture from that woman! She needs to get on the ball and get that furniture delivered!
Shaq: Did SIL provide any reason for not getting you the travel system? That is SO annoying.
lawyerwifemom: Your DD's name(s) for the baby were cracking me up!
Weekend: Had a good weekend overall. I cleaned the house on Saturday morning while DH was moving my sister out of her dorm. (How great is it that my big old belly got me out of that chore). My BF came into town from NYC to visit her ILs so we went out to lunch with a big group of people. Then my sister, BF, and I went shopping. My big belly helped me limit my purchases to a necklace and a pair of earrings. Shortly after getting home, more friends showed up for a cookout. On Sunday, I woke DH and my sister up early and we walked downtown for breakfast. Then DH and I spent the nice day outside working in the yard. I managed to plant a ton of flowers. I was worried that my belly would get in the way, but I managed just fine. The only negative of the weekend: my belly continues to itch. Good thing I have my doctor's apointment tomorrow evening.
Hope everyone is doing well! :D
lilmrs: that cake & your shower food looks soooo yummy!
I came from WC world ... my name over there was the same as here ... sunshineab622 . It is amazing how soooo many WC'ers switched over here - I went back over there today to look around - Still do NOT miss it at all.
Nikos- Wow May 20th!! It is so hard to believe that the babies are coming so soon!! Congrats on being dilated. Nothing for me yet!
Rachel refuses to call her baby sister Meredith. She had been calling her Abraham Lincoln, but she has now switched to Toyota. 3 year olds are strange creatures!
I love it!! Kids just say the funniest things!!
I am so sorry Pink!! I hate how men just amount everything to hormones! Maybe you can take some of the other mom’s advice here and have him sleep in the tub tonight!
Coming to CC- I was only on WC for a short period of time and then switched over when everyone else did. I’m pretty sure my name was lil_mrs or something similar. I can’t remember anymore.
~~~~
Well the interview went well. My boss actually sat in on it which made it so much easier!! It was like having someone root for me the whole interview. She kept giving examples of great things I do and when I would have to bring up my negatives she would talk about how I improved them.
I should have an answer tomorrow and if I get it they will start me right away!!

That is funny about the 3 yr old calling the baby Abraham Lincoln or Toyota ... lol
My son is 11 & he told me the other day that he does NOT like the name Bailey and that we needed to change her name to Sarah - I asked him why & he said a little girl at his after school care is named Bailey & she is S-T-U-P-I-D ... he spelled it out (I guess cause he did not want to say it) I said just b/c that girl is does not mean that all Bailey's are that way. Silly Kids!

ticker I saw a link in the September thread (I have a friend due in September and was wondering how many weeks she is now) to a cool little pregnancy ticker at www.baby-gaga.com Unfortunately, I couldn't copy and paste the link properly so I can't make it show up. But it has a countdown and couple styles to choose from.

Shaqangel – I hope Dh’s family comes through. If so, and you already have the car seat, then you can return the travel system and get the stroller plus some other stuff.
Shower – I’m not so sure plans are coming together the way they should. My mom has been contacting DH and SIL to find out what she can do to help. SIL is a huge procrastinator. There are all these grand things she wants to do for the shower, but she’ll wait until the last minute and it will end up being something thrown together. I really hope I’m wrong. I’ve been registry stalking and there are some items coming off. Nothing major, but stuff we need (bottles are the most recent purchase).
Have you ever regret putting something on your registry only after someone has bought it? I kept asking myself a simliar question as I registered because people will inevitably buy the things you don’t really really want. I had put some hooded towels on there just to get a few more. I want more towels but don’t really really really need them. Someone bought them last week and now I’m wishing I had just deleted them from the registry. I’ll just end up returning them.
Lil_mrs – glad the interview went well
I’ve had a lot of people tell me lately that they don’t think I’ll make it to my due date. They are surprised when I say I have 6 weeks to go. Do I really look that big? I really don’t think so. I’m measuring on track, but I do have a basketball belly so maybe that is why. In my mind I will either be on time or late so I’ll jut have to prove them wrong.
Tonight is the series finale of 7th Heaven so I will be tuned in. I have childbirth class during that time and need to make sure I set the VCR.
DH is back in Wisconsin this week for the 3rd and final (hopefully) week. He gets back on Thursday night. Next week is the last week I’m allowing him to travel.
