Dan’s girl – I was going to suggest heat rash too, but I’ve never gotten one with little white bumps. Could you be reacting to something you touched or ate? If it gets worse I would call the doc/mw and ask.

Ramona No idea, sorry :( I too thought heat rash, but mine is always red. You should call the dr today and find out. Let us know.

Ramona, Are they water blisters or was it yucky stuff when you scratched one open? I have gotten a heat rash type of thing with water blisters before...

Dan's girl:??? I wish I could help, but I have no idea what it could be. :confused:

NikosMom: Thanks! We were just outside of Charllotsville--by UVA.It was beautiful...but a pain to get to! Your "perfectionism/anal" comments made me laugh. I can certainly identify with you....that is why I painted the nursery. My motto seems to be: "I like it how I like it." :p

swelling: I was so worried about swelling while in VA. Thankfully, my feet/ankles made it through 6 hours of high heels before they pulled a "Flintstone" on me. I went to my hotel room at 12:20 a.m. to switch into flip flops and managed to make it through the last hour of the wedding reception.

I am exhausted today. In a good way though! I think I posted last week about how we were expecting MIL, two SILs, BIL, and one SIL's boyfriend to visit this weekend. Well, they did.... and so did the ENTIRE rest of the family with the exception of FIL (who already had plans for the weekend). They brought a baby shower to us! What a surprise that was. We had SIL and her boyfriend staying here, so they arrived Friday night. Everyone else showed up all at once on Saturday. We had NO CLUE that anything like that was in the works. We have no family here, so they came from Kansas City, St. Louis, and Portland, OR--a total of 12 people, 3 of whom are under 3 years old. I think that had I not been in such complete shock I would've been crying when I saw all of them standing there. They brought lunch with them, as well as a cake and presents--including the quilt, which is gorgeous (I just keep staring at it). We spent most of the weekend either here at our house or at the hotel where everyone else was staying. With 3 kids who take naps at different times and go to bed early, we really couldn't go out anywhere. We did manage to have dinner out on Saturday though.

So that was my weekend. The house is a wreck now (after we stayed up late Thursday night and had a looong day on Friday to get it clean), and we got home this morning after 3:30 from hanging out with some of DH's siblings at the hotel, so I feel like I should be cleaning when I really just want to sleep. Although it might have been nice to have some warning of what was happening, I must say I feel very loved. I truly do have wonderful ILs. :)

How did I miss the hamhock feet and vienna toes comment?

Ladyj – what a pleasant surprise for you and DH.

Please add my June 1st appt to the list. I’ll be 37 weeks and will have my Strep B test then. I will have to remember to tell the doc to not check my cervix…just swab and be done.

no time to really post cos i am swamped at work but just wanted to vent (is that okay :o ) my work shower is scheduled for next friday (the 12th) and since people know that i am getting close i keep getting asked when my shower is and apparently some of my co-worker friends are getting asked too. well no one knew who was planning it (i did but they didnt want to ask me details about it since its my shower). so today i was chatting with my friend J and she says 'so i know that the shower is next friday and people keep asking me about it. i dont understand why L wont send out the invites, so i asked her and she says she is only planning to do so on FRIDAY, cos she doesnt want people to forget about it'
YIKES - is she crazy. so J went to her today and told her she needs to get the invites out cos people keep asking for information about it and they need time to plan. L says 'well i dont want to send it too early cos they'll forget.'
apparently they're going out on wednesday. i know this is crazy, but it drives me insane when i have no control over stuff - and yea i have these crazy pg hormones to boot so its aint fun!

okay vent over....not much to report except i was terribly itchy this week-end and not really my belly but all over. thats about it.

glad those of you who had showers had a great time!

How did I miss the hamhock feet and vienna toes comment? I dont know ... ha ha ... That is seriously what they look like - We were cooking out the other night & dh made the comment ... I bet if we marinated those & cooked em they would taste good & then he pointed to my feet .... what a silly dh.

Hello again :)

ladyjg What a nice surprise for you.

shaqangel Sorry about the shower problems. Doesn't the host know you really can't invite the same day so people have time to buy you stuff? Maybe J could just tell L that she's going to send out a pre-invite or a save the date.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, I painted the trim and trimmed up the windows and doors. Granted my back is killing me and my butt hurts, but it is trimmed the way I want it and that's all that matters :p I even painted far away enough from the edges so Brian can't mess up my trim. All Brian has to do now is roll between the lines and we're good to go.
I'm so FREGGIN EXCITED that it's finally coming together. All we need is the stuff for the baby and we're good to go, I can have him then :D
Shaq: You should be venting! When does your coworker think people are going to buy your gift if they receive the invitation only a few hours before the shower?! And what about people's calendars getting filled with meetings. I don't know about your workplace, but my days get booked with meetings days in advance. :rolleyes: :eek:
Just got back from my work shower. It was really nice and there was a good turnout. We got our swing, bouncy seat, three crib sheets, newborn bottle set, and the monitor! :D
Dan'sgirl- I would check something like webmd.com to see if you can match up your symptoms to anything. It will usually give you a guess and tell you at which point you should go to the ER or the doc.
Lady- That is so sweet that your family came to you for your shower! Sounds like you had a lot of fun!
Shaq- Has this girl at least called everyone to give them a head's up there is a shower that day and to expect an invitation? I have never heard of putting off the invitations so that people won't forget.
Nikos- Yay for getting the paint up!
Hey girls! I'm not up to a whole update, but I'll work on it tomorrow.
Yesterday morning I woke up with contractions again and went back to the hospital. They kept me until this afternoon. Good news is Mackenzie and I are both fine (and she's still baking).
Congrats to those who had productive weekends!
Hi Ladies. Nothing much new to report around here- I've just been reading along.
I had an appt the end of last week. I've hit the 20 pound mark. I'm hoping I don't gain too much more weight. The doc I saw was absolutely no help at all- he's my least favorite in the group. All he said about my ultrasound was that it hadn't really changed from before. What that means, I have no idea. Hopefully I'll see someone else next time and get a few questions answered.
Dan'sgirl: The only thing I can think of is a yeast infection on the skin. The only reason I say that is because Mia had a bad breakout of yeast on her skin when all of the drooling started and it was red and white.
amurphy Glad you had a great work shower!
lilmrs It was my BRU registry that was all screwed up.
ladyjg How nice of your DH's family to surprise you like that!
shaq I'd be stressing, too. It's silly of this girl to hold onto the invitations so that people don't forget. These are grown, responsible adults. How can they forget an event that's less than two weeks away? They need time to make plans and buy you a gift.
dansgirl I have no idea what it could be, but I hope you feel better soon.
Question: Are you having problems with heartburn and what are you taking?
I'm having KILLER heartburn. I've tried watching what I eat, but I seem to get it no matter what. The TUMS just aren't cutting it anymore.
Question #2: Are you buying a gift for the hostess of your shower? If so, what are you getting her?
Hi there ladies! My, my my, much to catch up on…
Pink, jbenny and amurphy - sounds like you all had wonderful showers! Congrats on scoring all of your loot! I’m glad you had a great time.
ladyjg - what a great surprise! Sounds like you had a wonderful shower and time with your family.
DS - ouch on the groin pain! I hope you’re feeling better…
Lil Mrs - great belly shots! If it’s OK, I’m stealing your progression idea - it’s a fantastic one.
Dan’s Girl - I’ve heard of rashes that look like blisters developing in stretch marks while you’re pregnant, but that doesn’t sound like what you’ve got. Let us know what your doctor says tomorrow - I hope you’re feeling better.
Kaeden’s Mommy - whoa! Tell that little girl of yours to stay put!
OK, I haven’t posted any photos for a while, but here was my 31w0d photo taken about a week and a half ago:
Our nursery furniture arrived on Wednesday! Well, the bulk of it. The glider and ottoman were the wrong stain, and only days later did the salesperson tell us the particular glider we ordered does not come in a stain that matches the rest of our furniture. So we had to find another one and get it ordered. Hopefully since it was the store's error, they can pay to expedite this for us so we can have it all here before the baby arrives. In the meantime, the store is going to give us the one that doesn't match just in case the other glider doesn't get here in time.
All that being said, the crib and dresser are beautiful! Thursday night (after I spent some fun time washing all of the bed linens), we set up the crib (mattress, mobile and all) for our little guy. Now we need to spend some time thinking about how to decorate it with shelves and such. So, even though it's a work-in-progress, I'll go ahead and post some photos!
Thanks for letting me vent girls....i dont know what L's deal is....oh just to clarify, the shower is set for 12 May and she wants to send the invites out 5 May which in my and everyone else's opinion is too late. alot of the men here dont shop for showers, their wives do so for them and many people contribute to larger group gifts so the people at my office like to have advance notice. and amurphy you're right everyone's calenders fill up SO quickly - i mean my May calender looks nuts right now. and these are grown ups so how can they forget. also, email reminders are always sent out for any event here at the office the day before and the day the event so i just dont get her. i'm still irritated about it but i cant do anything since its not in my hands. apparently she's now sending out the invites t'row.
Lil Mrs & gina great belly shots! u both look awesome!
Gina love the nursery set up and the furniture looks great.
Kaeden’s Mommy tell you little one she needs to stay put a while longer!!!
Pink, jbenny, amurphy, ladyjg so glad u had such awesome showers.
NikosMommy glad the painting is getting done, even if u have to do some of it yourself!
Question: Are you having problems with heartburn and what are you taking?
on and off - sunday was kinda bad. i dont get it every day but its annoying when i do. i usually take tums and have a glass of milk (which really helps a whole lot)
Heartburn, thankfully hasn't been TOO bad for me in this third trimester this time. For me, I just eat a LOT of tums or Rolaids (I prefer these over tums)
As for milk, that also works like a charm. In my first pg, I was craving orange juice every morning, so I'd have a huge glass. Then I'd bring half a litre of milk to work and drink that for the first hour or so to kill the heartburn the OJ caused. LOL!
Speaking of milk.... yesterday, I just could not get ENOUGH of the stuff. Two bowls of cereal in the morning..... then I had two huge glasses of chocolate milk at lunch, two huge glasses of chocolate milk at supper... and then two more huge glasses of white milk in the evening. I bought 16 litres of milk on Friday (ok, 8 of those litres were homo milk for Connor), and I'm pretty sure I blasted through at least 4 litres of the 1% milk yesterday -- it was insane!!
************
Off to my 33 week ob appt this morning. I'm thinking of asking for an internal to find out what's going on inside -- I had random menstrual crmaping yesterday, LOTS of BH's (esp at night), shooting pains down my urethra throughout the day but mostly in the morning. I think either I have a UTI or somethings going on.... either way, I need to know and find out what we can do to keep Dawson in at least a few more weeks...
*************
threadmistress, next update you can add the following:
May 17 - 35 week appt.
May 24 - 36 week appt.
May 31 - 37 week appt.
(I can't believe that next week is my last week of NOT having an OB appt.... crazy!)
Good morning!
It looks like Mackenzie will be staying put a little longer at least. To make a very long story short I'll just post a little of it here - the full story is in my journal if you're interested.
I woke up to contractions on Sunday morning. I was also vomiting and hadn't eaten so I was only vomiting water. The contractions were much stronger than the night before and were 3-5 minutes apart. The birth center had me come in for monitoring. They decided to keep me and do some bloodwork, a bio-physical profile, etc. They also gave me another shot of Breathine (sp?) which didn't touch the contractions this time. So, they moved me to another room and said they'd hook me up to magnesium sulfate and keep me at least overnight until my doctor could see me. It was a miserable night, but I lived. ;) My doctor told me yesterday that I could come home and go about my usual routine - no bed rest! She feels confident that the vomiting made my contractions come on so strong. My cervix didn't change from the contractions on Sunday morning so I'm still 1 1/2-2 cm.
Tomorrow is my Level II u/s at 7:30am. Not sure when I'll get to update as we have to go to MSP for the appointment which is a 4 hour drive. Plus, DH has an appointment with his orthopedic surgeon for a 2-year check on his knee. I'll try to bring the laptop and update in the morning.
Morning All :D
THE PAINTING IS DONE :D I'm so happy. Brian finished it last night when I went to bed. I haven't seen it yet, but it's done. I called the people giving us the furniture last night and we'll have it by Sat :D I think we're going to put Nikolas in the big room either tonight or tomorrow night so he can get used to it.
Heartburn: I use Zantac 150. The dr said it's ok and it does help. She also said I can take the tums in between.
Frozen Meals: I forgot who mentioned this, but I did a lasagna so far. I'm also going to do a chicken tetrazini. I do know that hamburger helper doesn't freeze very well :o
erinn Sorry you didn't get better answers at your appt. Can you call and ask for a dr you like to call you back and talk to you?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So Niko and I have a busy day planned. We're going to TRU to get diapers for the baby, 2 birthday gifts, and possibly this swimming thing for Nikolas - it has floaties sewn into it and it's like a body suit. It's supposed to help him in the pool.
Then we have to go to WalMart to see about getting more material so I can make another set of curtains for his room. He's going from one window to two.
I then need to do some grocery shopping and get some stuff frozen for when everyone leaves us alone and I need to cook.
Then when I get home, I'm going to get out the 0-3 month clothes and get them hung.

So I need to motivate. Hope everyone has a good day.

Ryan

Kaeden: Glad to hear all is working out... :)

Gina: You look so great.. so cute!!!

Heartburn: I can take Pepcid (which I have done a few times)... but I must say the only heartburn I get (for the most part) is when I eat Chocolate.. strange I know.. but it is true. I can eat onions/peppers/ horserdish.... and nothing.. just w/ the chocolate. I guess my mom had the same thing...

Shaq: Sorry about all the chaos w/ the shower.. I am sure everything will work out... and if it does not..you are going on maternity leave soon so you can forget about her... :p

Connors: Pain in the uretha... I have been having this alot lately too.. and I had no idea what it could be.. keep me posted on your results....

I will do S/O's later but I just wanted to pop in for a minute. I'm about to take my aunt to the Dr. I wanted to sleep late so bad today. My stomach was hard and hurt and my hips and back hurt all day yesterday too, it was awful. Definately the worst day pain wise. It was lifting all those damn groceries and I had to lift a crapload of trash this morning because DH forgot (I guess) and it was the second time he "forgot" so it was really piling up. I hope I don't have a repeat of yesterday. Something so gross happened yesterday too. I was peeing and I guess I had held it too long and it really gushed out. When I went back in the living room and sat down the whole back of one side of my skirt was soaked, I had peed out the toilet!!!!! Oh the humiliations of pregnancy, how does a GIRL even do that?

I also made a 2 tier diaper cake yesterday for my sister's co-worker. I asked Dh to email me pics today so if he doesn't "forget" I will show you my handiwork! They usually turn out so much better but I had not done one in about a year and it just didn't look right this time.

Be back later...

Warning: Complaining ahead....

My baby is jammed SO far up in my ribs/boobs that it hurts to sit or stand! My belly is hard--last night the baby kept pushing his or her butt up against my stomach and it kept going and going. I had to stand up to stop it. The indigestion is killing me and the TUMS is not doing its job. My husband had to sleep in the guest room last night because of my snoring and I hate sleeping without him next to me (plus, I feel like an ogre). Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. :( :( :(

On a funny note, when I told DH that my coworkers bought us the swing AND the bouncer he asked which one I wanted to return. Guess he doesn't understand that we registered for both because we want both. :rolleyes:

Lil_Mrs_0702
05-02-2006, 09:53 AM
Gina- How dare you steal my progression!! :p I don't mind at all. I also make them for some people too.

Shaq- Maybe you can have one of your frustrated coworkers confirm the date and time and send it out in Outlook or whatever it is you guys use. For my work shower my boss sent out an invite a month in advance with a reminder the day before and put flyers up.

Kaeden's- Glad she is hanging out in there a little longer. Sorry for all of your scares. I don't know how you all survive through those scares!

Niko- Another huge YAY for painting being done! I bet you are excited to get things finally done and ready for your little guy? BTW- Did you ever figure out a name? I know you have had it down to one or two a couple of times but not sure if you had officially picked one out.

Pink- OMG too funny! I have the opposite problem... I run to the bathroom and then can't go or it is a lousy 2 drops and a waste of my time.

amurphy- Gotta love DHs! Mine is the same way, I love his confused excitement. When we were registering for stuff at Target he kept wanting to buy the stuff that I was registering for. I had to keep reminding him that we are registering for it because we need it and want to give other people a chance to buy stuff for us.

Also I hear ya on all the awkward movement. There is this one move he has that just creeps me out and gives me the chills. I can't explain it really except that it feels like he is finger painting my lower abdomen. Before dinner he was so active that I had to pace around the house to rock him back to sleep.

Heartburn- I usually take a tums and sit up for a while. Some nights I wake up with it and have to prop my pillows up and sleep on an incline.

~~~~
Nothing much to report. I took some pics of the nursery and some of the outfits last night and posted them in my journal. Also I guess Collin was waking DH all night. He was up for an hour just watching my belly move... I must be getting used to it because I slept through out the whole thing.
Heartburn – I occasionally have problems. When I do I typically drink a glass of milk or have some ice cream. I also drink tons of water.
Hostess gift – don’t know. I didn’t do it for my bridal shower and right now I’m not exactly sure who all are hosting our shower.
Gina – glad your furniture arrived and hope the glider situation gets resolved. We got our glider and ottoman over the weekend and I love sitting in it. We decided to put it in our bedroom for now.
Shaqangel – what is your coworker thinking? I’ve found that the more I know the harder it is for me to accept what is happening. I had to tell SIL to mail out invitations for our shower or at the least mail an E-vite. She just wanted to call people and tell them. That sounds like a definite way for people to forget. Had I never known I would have been fine
Kaedens mommy – good to know that Mackenzie is staying put for now.
Nikosmommy – congrats on having the painting done.
Frozen meals – dh and I talked about it over the weekend but didn’t actually make anything. We talked about making some freezer meals two weekends from now. We will be in NJ this weekend so it is out.
Not much going on here. The baby is currently tossing around.
Pink- I don't know if you can change the resolution once it is in Snapfish. I use www.flickr.com for my pictures and I haven't had to mess with the resolution or file size at all.
It's weird seeing pics of you since I never have. You still look so tiny!! It looks like you got a lot of great loot and that diaper cake is adorable. I don't think I will be getting one since I have only heard of them on CC.
Isn't it? I love to see people I've never seen before on here. It's like oh, so that's what you look like!!! I'll post a full body shot one day, my stomach is pretty huge. You just can't tell in these pics, but my face hasn't really gotten big or anything.
I will try flickr next time. The thing is Dh downloads them at work and emails them to me and I move them over to Snapfish. My computer is dumb and I can't download them myself. I wonder if that matters.
Hello again :)
Pink Yeah for the baby goodies :D
When you go grocery shopping you should have them seperate the perishables from non and only bring those in. Have DH bring the rest in when he gets home. That's what I did and still do. The other thing is getting a shopping cart to keep in your car and loading the perishables in that and wheeling them in so you don't have to carry them.
If all else fails, I go shopping when Brian is home and come into the house empty handed and tell him there are groceries in the car and he needs to get them.
amurphy Those little ones just stretch out like they have all the room in the world. Your ribs & boobs, not the baby's problem :D
ds What are you going to freeze? I'm always looking for new ideas.
Lil_Mrs You have a very good memory. I can barely remember what was said here yesterday. We are down to 2 names so far. Jaedon & Nathan. We'll decide when we see him. However, I'm still holding out hope that I get Gabriel but I'm not holding my breath :/
So we didn't do anything I posted this morning. As soon as I logged off, one of the moms from Nikolas' play group called to say she was going to a local park. So we opted to do that. He had so much fun and I was glad to get him out of the house.
We came home and I put him down for a nap but he only slept an hour. I got a little less than that. So I forsee take out for dinner tonight cause I'm exhausted.
I have a dr appt tomorrow and will probably go run some of the errands tomorrow.
That's a good idea Niko's.
I have a question for you since you are a R/O you might kow. Feel free to chime in anyone else that might know. I feel like I have a stitch in my side. It's on the left maybe 4 inches from my belly button. It's persistent and painful. Any idea what it is?
Hi ladies,
Long time, no post. I hope everyone is doing well. I can't believe we are nearing the end of our pregnancies. I am happy that my little one will be here soon, but, there is part of me that will be sad not to have him in my tummy anymore and to not be pregnant with my first baby. Am I the only one who feels like this?
My Body:
I've been feeling REALLY pregnant lately. Like all of the sudden it hit..... I am warm all of the time, my feet and ankles are swollen from morning til night and my heartburn in out of control! I eat Tums like it is going out of style. And, I've reached that point where I can no longer get good sleep. I am usually up 4-5 times per night to either pee, drink water, or just because I can't get comfortable.
Baby Classes:
Dh and I are continuing to take our Lamaze classes. We have 3 left, and then we have a CPR class and a breastfeeding class. Gee... after all of these classes, I feel like I should have a degree in "baby studies." I am starting to get really nervous to go into labor... can't seem to get it off of my mind.
The nursery:
The nursery is complete, with the exception of hanging curtains and pictures. We plan to accompolish that this weekend. We still have a few other general house projects that I want to finish up. I feel like we are running out of time.
Trying to get organized:
I've packed my bag for the hospital, but still need to find a cute going-home outfit. I know comfort is key, is it will likely be yoga pants with a t-shirt. I've also washed all of the baby's blankets and newborn/0-3 months clothing. I didn't wash the "outfits," but rather, the onsies and pajamas, etc.
Baby Shower:
My shower isn't until May 20th, which makes me nervous. I have no idea why they choose such a late date. They gave me two options: May 20th or 27th. I felt like saying "yeah, how 'bout April?" but, I didn't want to be rude considering they are hosting the shower for me. It just makes me nervous since it is cutting it close to my due date. Granted, I will have 5 weeks, but you never know when you will go into labor.
Work:
My last day is June 2nd- I can't wait! The long commute (1.5 hrs each way) is really getting to me.
I'm happy to see that everyone seems to be doing well :) Take care.
Maybe it's just stretching pains. My Ob warned me that the muscles in our stomachs start to really stretch during this last trimester.
Niko- That's what I thought you had picked out. Just like to double check. See if my memory is still working. We have the name Collin picked out but I have a feeling that we are going to meet him and he'll be an Xavier. I keep telling peopel that it is Collin or Xavier but DH tells everyone that it is Collin.
I guess we all posted at the same time!
Shaq- You look great!
StevieM- Wow it sounds like you are all set! Sorry that your shower is so late... I'm stressing out about my shower that is this weekend because there is still so many little things we need to get.
Hello :)
Pink Not sure. I do know that instead of seperating nicely, some abdominal muscles tear when you're pg. Nothing you did, it just happens that way. It did with Niko and this one for me. However I don't really have anything like you're talking about. Call your dr, they'll tell you. They make a fortune from your ins co so they can answer these questions you have when they come up :D
shaq As always, looking gorgeous :D I'd like to have a middle name after someone we know to "honor" them and we don't know any Gabriel's :/ I'm still also trying to get Michael as a middle name. Brian isn't going for that one either :/ My life would be so happy if I got Gabriel Michael. I'd even take one or the other, but he's vetoing both. Men :rolleyes:
I am happy that my little one will be here soon, but, there is part of me that will be sad not to have him in my tummy anymore and to not be pregnant with my first baby. Am I the only one who feels like this?
steviem I went through that with Nikolas and for the longest time after he was born wanted to be pg again right away. Even with the sleep deprevation and all the nursing problems, I still wanted to be pg again.
LilMrs We thought about Xavier at first but then Brian's nephew had a son and they named him Xavier so that was out. I like both Collin & Xavier but again, Brian :rolleyes:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So now that summer is here I ordered Nikolas his own little table. Our patio is enclosed and every time we sit out there to eat we have to drag out his booster seat. So I've been looking for one on eBay but couldn't find the right one. I also figured being our house is so small and I couldn't host any inside play dates, I'll be doing a lot of pool play dates and the kids can sit and eat lunch at it. It seats 8 and really isn't that big overall. Plus with TRU right now online if you order over $50 you get a free $19 toy so I got Nikolas a dancing Elmo.

Ok, so my appointment wasnt as great as I hoped it would be. She was very concerned about the swelling in my legs and feet and gave me a strict diet of no soda, no salt (if possible) and to pretty much be on bed rest once i get off work. She wanted to put me on a week of full bed rest but I cant afford to take off any time since it would be unpaid, and she said ok for one more week but if it doesnt get better then she will put her foot down. Also she said he is really really low and the cramping and excessive #2's(sorry tmi) are signs that its closer than we think. She wants to see me every week now and said if my symptoms stay the same or get worse she will most likely induce me at 38 weeks. :eek: :eek: :eek:

Oh, and she also did my strep B test, which i wasnt expecting and thankfully I shaved my legs and "places: yesterday :rolleyes:
I also forgot to mention my rash and am putting cream on it and hope it goes away, if not by the next appointment I'll make sure to mention it. Thanks for everyones help with it!

So now I'm freaked out that I have sooo much to do and possibly only 3 weeks to do it in. We have to finish his room, get the car seats installed, get all the work paperwork done, deep clean the house, and so many other little things. Not to mention our lease is up in August and we have to start looking for a place in June to make sure we can move by august. AHHHH:eek:

Sorry for the ranting, i'm just scared to death at this point and can't really freak out to DH because he is at the end of his last semester of his masters program and doesnt need the stress. So I'm going to lean heavily on you wonderful ladies at this stressful time.

Ok, gotta run and get some cleaning done. HUGS to all!!

Ramona Lean on us, that's what we're here for.
excessive #2's(sorry tmi) are signs that its closer than we think. I forgot about that. Something about the colon spasming causes the uterus to contract, not sure :confused:
As always easier said than done, but please don't freak. It will all get done. It's like the baby knows what you need to do and waits. I really believe that is why this one is waiting, he knows I needed to get his room ready.

Dansgirl- feel free to vent away!! You all know that I do it! That has got to be so stressful to need to worry about moving on top of everything.

Some tips on the swelling- Try to find some compression socks. Here's a link to the search results (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=compression+socks). I got them last year during my D&C (after m/c) and the nurse told me to keep them for just this reason. They worked wonders last week when my ankles looked like knee caps. Also do some extra pelvic tilts after work. I read some where that sometimes the uterus and the baby end up sitting right on the vein that brings the blood back up from the legs. My ankles went down over night after combining the two.

ramona ... maybe only 3 wks :eek: sorry to hear your appt was not that great. I completely understand about the swelling ... mine is sooo bad. You have my # now you need to send me yours since we are labor buddies.

Shaq: You look awesome as usual :)

cramps: I had some cramping this morning :( It felt like PMS cramps but only last about an hour - then went away.

work: I have been working really hard trying to get all this paperwork done so when/if I leave it will not be such a mess. I still have sooooo much to do to be caught up.

Hi everyone! much craziness here today.... this is a long story that I'm just going to copy/paste from my LJ....

I had lots of BH's yesterday as well as a few menstrual-like cramps. I also had a few shooting pains down my urethra. I decided since I had an appt. this morning, that I'd just leave it at that, unless the pains/cramping continued at night after going to bed. Thankfully, it all seemed to stop and I had a good night of sleep.

This morning, I leave for my Dr appt. at 8 a.m. I didn't get back until 3:30. Here's what happened:

- Saw Dr. C at 8:30.
- weight up 2 lbs from 2 weeks ago. Weighing in now at the same # taht I was when I delivered Connor. (though my weight gain this time is only 23 lbs total rather than 26, as I started out 3 lbs heavier this time).
- BP fine
- Dawson's HB fine
- Told Dr. about yesterday's festivities. SHe said she could do an internal then, but she'd rather send me to the hospital right away to get a Fetal Fibronectin test done -- she said if she did an internal, the FFN test would have to wait at least 24 hours after, so it was best to head straight to the hospital and get the FFN done right away by Dr. L (my other fave OB from my practice!) and then follow that up with an internal. Oh yea, go here: http://www.marchofdimes.com/professionals/681_1149.asp for info on the FFN test

So, I headed over to the hospital and was there by 9 a.m.

- Spent the first hour and a half hooked up to the belly belt monitor. I had to press a button each time I felt Dawson move. He was moving like crazy.... The monitor also picked up that I was having some contractions throughout the hour (like more than 10 or 15 I think) but they can't tell if they're real or if they're BH's.

- Finally they found my Dr, who took the FFN swab.
- She then did an internal. I was 1.5 cm dilated.
- she decided that she would wait an hour to do another internal. And then if there was any change, they'd actually run the swab through the lab (apparently it's an expensive test to run, so she wanted to do the second internal to make sure).
- waited 1.5 hours for the second internal. Had some blood on TP when going to the washroom during that wait. Likely from my cervix being poked around.
- Second internal, same thing - 1.5 cm dilated, but this time she noted my cervix is very low and VERY soft.
- she says she'll have the swab run now, and it would take 30 min or so. So I take a quick trip to the cafeteria to grab a little snack for lunch.
- I come back 1/2 hour later. And end up waiting in my little triage room for another hour and a half.
- they finally kick me out of my triage room b/c they need it for other preggos.

- I wait in the waiting room for another 1.5 hours, and finally my Dr. comes to me to deliver the news. The FFN came back negative, which means I have a less than 5% chance of delivering in the next 7-10 days (had it been positive, I'd have a 50% chance and they would have likely admitted me). However, since I do have one unexplained preterm delivery under my belt, she felt it best to give me the steroid shots now to just be on the safe side for the next week

- I got the steroid shot at 3 p.m. (finally!) and was told I have to come back at 3 p.m. tomorrow for the follow up steriod shot.
- she did a THIRD internal and said I'm still at 1.5 cm and she's still concerned aobut how low and soft my cervix is (plus now I've had bleeding on and off all day...lol!).

- She siad I could go home but that I have to take it easy for the next 4 weeks. Not complete bedrest, but to limit my activities, take it easy more...and lie down as soon as I feel BHs or cramping. Also, no BD'ing for 4 weeks (DH is beyond thrilled...not!)

So I'm home... and hoping this kid will hang on for a few more weeks. DH is going to swich his shifts from evening to daytimes as much as he can. Connor is going to go to the dayhome a little more often, and when he isn't there, MIL will coem over and help take care of him.

dansgirl Vent away. I hope you're able to get everything done. Try not to stress too much. Easier said than done, I know.

shaq You look great, as always.

pink It's great to see a pic of you! You look really cute! Your shower looks like it was really nice. I love the end-of-the-day pooped-out pic.

amurphy The Tums aren't doing it for me anymore, either. I think I need to try OTC Zantac or something. I feel like my grandma- I had to start keeping the Tums on my nightstand, cause it's getting so bad at night. My baby also keeps pushing his butt up...it's cute at first, but when he does it a lot, it really hurts.

ds Your SIL wanted to just call people about your shower and not send invites? That would have made my obsessively organized self completely insane! I'm glad you got her to send invites.

******

Which brings me ti an update on my (lack of) shower. Josh talked with his dad and let him know how upset I still am that they didn't give me one for my wedding.

brief history-No one in his family could agree on a date for the wedding shower and then at the last minute they did.They decided on a holiday weekend Friday at 4 pm----and got pissed that no one could come.They sent invites out a week in advance (all my friends live at least an hour or so away-not counting holiday traffic and my 2 female relatives live at least 5 hours away and my mother is an invalid so she wouldn;t be able to make or host anything----not to mention that all my friends and family WORK!!!!). Once my MIL and SIL's (who were also my BM's)got notice that 3 people couldn't make it---they sent out emails cancelling the event for "lack of interest"....it never was rescheduled.

This is the same family who decided to change our engagement party from the decided date without checking with me and josh first. They moved it to Halloween with 2 weeks notice and it didn't matter that I was working that day and need advance notice to get a day off. It also meant that none of my friends who had young children could come since it was moved to Halloween.

So anyway, Josh really wants to make sure that they did something this time. He talked to his dad (without me knowing) in Feb...and told him that anytime is good for us except for the weekend before Memorial Day since we go camping with about 60 of our friends on this weekend every year. His dad then went on to say that that weekend was the only free weekend available *for everybody else* until July b/c everyone else is going away. They talked a little more and decided that they would have to do it BEFORE mother's day, since that was the only free time.

So today, he gets a call, saying that the shower will be on May 19th....which ofcourse is the weekend that we are going away

Now mind you...every single friend that I have will also be with me that weekend. They wouldn't be able to make the shower either since the are committed to this gathering as well.

Josh and his dad start juggling dates and try to move it...To my chagrin they decided on the first weekend in June which I know won't work b/c this date was already NIXED when they were trying to plan the 85th party for grandpa because about half of the family is travelling that weekend.

So long story short...I can see that this party is heading to the same results that the other one did. They are going to fight amongst themselves and I will be the one who gets hurt. I told josh to forget it. I really don't want to go down that route again...it just hurts too much.

Hi girls! Just dropping in to catch up on everyone! Seems we have some action going on!! Hope those babies stay put for a bit yet!!

I had a follow-up appt with my dietician today. Numbers have been sporadically high, but not enough for insulin. I am going to try extra extra hard to stick to my diet and hopefully won't have to worry about insulin! I haven't been following it as strictly as I should have been and have seen a difference in my numbers. :o But the good news is that I have only gained 1 pound in the past month! :D Hopefully that is all baby! I have another appt in 2 weeks, along with my OB/NST appt on Thursday.

I had my shower on Sunday and we got a ton of stuff, though not as much off our registries. We are working on the nursery, trying to get it cleaned out and set up! I ordered our bedding today, though it is different than the set we registered for. I found it on Overstock.com and it was a steal!!!

A 4-piece set for $59.99! That's $90 off the original price! :D

http://images.overstock.com/f/102/3117/8h/www.overstock.com/images/products/L10265401.jpg

Definitely worth it and it is so cute!! Now I have to accessorize!

Well, that's my update! Hope the action subsides and everyone is able to enjoy this last month or so!

Take care Mommies! :)

Maryanne so sorry about your shower situation! what a frustrating and ultimately hurtful family. Could one of your girlfriends throw you a shower for your friends and whatever family can come? Maybe if someone outside the family organizes, it will go a little more smoothly.

Karen I second what I said in your LJ--tell Dawson to stay put for a bit longer!

Amanda I love the frogs! What a great deal you found.

Shaq, Ramona, pink Cute pictures. You all have that wonderful-not-yet-miserable pregnancy glow!!

I am sad today because I found out my dog is in end stage renal failure and I have to put her to sleep. She is 13 and has been a good companion to me since I got her from the pound when she was 3 months old. Add pregnancy hormones to an already heartbreaking situation and I am a blubbering mess today.

maryanne - sorry about your family lack of enthusiasm. I hope your shower turns out to be wonderful

lawyerwifemom - sorry about your dog. I know how much our pets become another part of the family.

shower gifts - SIL called me last night because she was having trouble finding BRU. When she walked in she commented on it being "baby heaven". This was her first time in BRU she normally goes to TRU. Anyway she said that she was having trouble finding gender neutral clothes and that it would be much easier if she just knew the sex of the baby. **This is why no one knows the sex. People seem to think that the only thing you need for a baby is 0-3 month outfits** She ended up buying something off the registry...I also think she picked up some GN clothes.

Hello All :)

Quick post...

maryanne I am so sorry about your shower situation. It really sucks about his family.

lawyerwifemom So sorry about your dog. Saying good bye to a pet is as hard as saying good bye to a person.

Our family will keep Jad and her family in our prayers.

We have a GD dr appt this morning and Nikolas is being ugly. This is going to be a lllllllooooooonnnnnnngggggggg day with him. I'm also going to kick Brian's butt. Nikolas has his own little couch and Brian let him put it on our couch last night and sit on it so now he wants to do that, and I won't let him. If he falls off he'll get hurt cause he's very high. I just don't get my husband sometimes. BBL.

Freezing foods – I don’t remember who asked, but right now I plan to do two maybe three lasagnas. DH and I were talking this morning about other stuff to make and we haven’t decided. I do want to make some non-pasta stuff, because we will get sick of lasagna after a while. I plan to get some ideas from this thread that someone posted earlier: http://www.constantchatter.com/showthread.php?t=8733&highlight=freezer
My mom will be here for about 2 weeks after the baby is born so she will be cooking then. We will save the frozen stuff for after she leaves. Now that I think of it, I may ask my mom to make stew while she is here so we can freeze that too.

Jad – you and your family are in my prayers.

maryanne that stinks that dh's family is like that. i hope you get a shower. i can kinda relate too cos dh's family hasnt done anything for our baby, same thing with the wedding. promised lots and never delivered. so dh let them know that it wont work this time around but nothing yet. i'm over it.

lawyer i'm so sorry about your dog. i'll be thinking of u.

dans girl great pic! u're always so smiley in your pics:)

jad definitely have you in my thoughts and hope u are doing well.

ds its so funny how people have to know what the sex is to buy stuff. they just want to buy pink or blue clothes! it was funny cos at my shower at church we got quite a few things of the registry cos people had no choice but to do that. i mean we alos got non-registry stuff but for the most part it was essentials.

babylust love the bedding and gosh what a steal!

connorsmommy-thank you for posting that. No, it's not good for Jad and her hubby. In fact, it's awful and miserable and her hopes for the future are gone. It's a terrible thing for Jad and her family to go through. Ladies, I know this is a busy time for you. Preparing nurseries, writing Thank you notes, attending showers, etc. I'm a member of the June Mommas 05 thread as well as a former member of the Twinmamas thread so I know how busy you all are at this time but I also have a small inkling of what Jad is going through. Jad I don't know what to say. I am so sorry. My heart goes out to you during this difficult time. I will pray for you and your little boys.:(

maryanne Sorry about Dh's family. Excuse my french, but they really sound like a bunch of selfish a-holes. I hope that someone works something out for you.

I'm kinda ticked at my DH's family, too. They are always mooching off of of him. When he does something for them, there isn't anything that's too good for them. When it's his turn, they're a bunch of rude cheapskates. I don't mean to sound greedy, it's not about what they spent so much (well, a little bit), but their shower gift to us was totally without effort. Not one single one of them bought an actual gift- an outfit, or a little toy or something.- not even his mother, the baby's supposed grandmother:rolleyes: . They went together and bought a BRU gift card for $150, which is a lot, but there like 10 people that signed the card. So they spent a big $15 a person.:mad: I don't care so much for myself. I don't need anything from them and neither does the baby. I just hate seeing DH get the shaft when he's so generous with them. I'm grateful that for birthdays and holidays my family treats him just like they do me with gifts, cards, etc., cause the poor guy really never got any kind of caring gesture from his family. Why am I surprised, though? His mother actually came to our wedding empty-handed. She didn't even bring a card.

freezing food I would like to get started soon. So far I'm planning lasagna and that's it. Does anyone know if shredded chicken would freeze okay? I have a great chicken enchilada recipe, but I'm not sure how it would do in the freezer.

lawyerwifemom I am so sorry about your dog. Hugs to you! Have you read the book Marley and Me? It's a must for dog lovers and it kinda parellels what you're going through right now.

babylust Cute froggy bedding!

dansgirl You look adorable!

I was writing this huge post and it made me think of Mrsbrownie. Her posts are always so long:D . I noticed that she hasn't been here in awhile. I hope everything is okay.

maryanne - how frustrating! I think I'd feel the same way. Even though I'm sure they're not fighting and arguing over dates and screwing up just to spite you, it's got to feel that way. Just keep in mind that their arguring and stuff probably has NOTHING to do with how they feel about you or this baby, but their own internal issues that are coming to light. I hope they find a date that works so you can feel celebrated deservedly.

lawyerwifemom - how awful about your puppy. I know how much an animal can mean to someone. I'm so sorry - sending you my thoughts...

Dan's girl - you look adorable! Great belly shot!

babylust - your bedding looks fantastic! Very fun and cute.
connors glad u're feeling better and i sure hope dawson stays put much longer!

ds - y'know, I never thought of that as a reason not to divulge the sex, but it sounds like a good one. I was (and still am) a bit nervous that all we'll get is clothes, especially since my shower date came and went. But so far all of the big ticket items have been bought and shipped here, so I'm not as worried anymore. And it sounds like you've planned things accordingly so you won't be diluged with a bunch of clothes. I think people just like picking out small adorable outfits, and who can blame them? Granted, none of the smaller stuff we really need, like bottles and such, have been purchased (other than the stuff by my wonderful virtual shower buddy MrsBrownie). I wish more people thought that buying practical stuff was more imporant than the cute things.

jad - I'm speechless. Words can't express how sorry I am. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Maryanne-That really sucks. I can't believe how selfish they see to be. Not accomodating at all! If all else fails have a "Meet the Baby Party" for yourselves after your little one arrives. That way you still get to have a celebration but on your terms! I know it's not the same tho. ((hugs))

Went to the Dr. today over that weird pain-And I'm a little embarrassed to admit that the pain that had me crying my eyes out last night was just round ligament pain! I had never had it before and it's just very actue and I'm also very consitpated so the Dr. thinks that my distended colon (ewww gross) is probably pushing on it and making it worse. He said take some Milk of Mag. today and take it easy and hopefully it will ease but there wasn't anything else I could really do about it. I guess I've just been lucky not to have had it so far. I pray to God it doesn't last, I don't know how many weeks I can take of this. It really, really hurts.

Ramona-You look cute!

Lawyerwife-I am so very sorry about your dog. My dog is my baby so I can only imagine how you must feel.

Jad-We've missed you and I am so sad to hear why you have not been here. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Pink: Great photos.. I love the “I am tired one.. LOL” and those gift boxes are SOO CUTE! And I agree w/ LiL Mrs. so great to put a name w/ a face…

Shaq: Great photo!!

Stevem: My last day is June 2nd as well and I am with you on the commute the 1.5 hours gets really tiresome.

Dan’s girl that is what we are here for! And your photo is great!

Maryanne: I am sorry the shower is turning out to be an ordeal… so frustrating when showers supposed to be about fun and new exciting times and you (in general) end up having hurt feelings…

Babylust: great crib! and even better price!

Lawyer: I am sooo sorry to hear about your dog… I am such a dog lover and I know how hard it is… how are the kids doing w/ it? What kind of dog is she??? Just breaks my heart… thinking happy thoughts for you…

Jad: I too am speechless and my heart goes out to you and your family. Keeping you in my hearts and prayers.

Jad- There are no words. I am so sorry. Your family is in my prayers.

June Mommas- Are any of you pretty close to her? I would like to send her flowers on behalf of our group. Does Phen live close to her? I may try to contact her to see if I can send her the flowers to give to Jad.

Connorsmommy- Wow- What an eventful day! (The wait times I’m sure were boring as heck but still eventful). I’m glad your DH and MIL are doing what they can to take care of you until the baby is here.

Dansgirl- You look so adorable! I just love your big grin- Makes my day!

Maryanne- Maybe your DH could vent to one of your mutual friends that are going camping and they can do some sort of mini shower for you. Just bring some extra s’mores and give you gift certificates for extra pampering while camping.

Babylust- I absolutely love that bedding!! It is so much fun.

Lawyerwifemom- I am so sorry about your pup. I wish I had something helpful or insightful to say but I know that it just sucks. I would be a blubbering mess with or without pg hormones.

I’m sorry for all of you having to deal with unsupportive families. That would be so frustrating.

Gina- At first I thought you were talking about no reason to divulge in sex (dtd)!! Oops… The whole gender thing is so frustrating to me. I have people all the time tell me how difficult I am making things on them because I don’t know the sex. For my family friends shower I told my mom that there is a strict no clothes or blankies policy. I thought that not revealing the gender would mean more practical gifts but instead it just means that they all buy duckie stuff. I have enough clothes for him to never have to wear the same outfit twice and I have 2 friends with one year old boys that are already giving me all their son’s clothes as they outgrow them. The last thing I need are more clothes.

So Dh and I decided to officially go for the job that I talked about a couple of months ago. I am nervous and excited. I am going to talk to my boss today about how she feels about me going for it.

JAD I am so so sorry for your situation. There really are no words.

shower woes I'm sorry so many of you have had hurtful, thoughtless or frustrating experiences. Hopefully all these family members will come through in the end by being a loving presence in your child's life.

Thank you Shaq, Amanda, Gina, Lil_mrs, DS, Ryan, Pink, Jbenny, Nikos, maryanne(and anyone else I accidently left out) for your kind words about my dog. Jbenny I haven't read that book but maybe I'll get up the courage to read it soon. Ryan This is what I wrote about her in my LJ
Just a month ago, she (India) and our other dog (Drake) took off on an adventure to a local pond. They went swimming and ran around like maniacs. They ended up at the pound. India used to be an escape artist in her youth (her nickname was Shawshank) but in the past couple years she has been content to hang out around home. And Drake never takes off. So it was strange that they ran off like that. I guess it was her last hurrah.

She's had a good long life. She is a boxer/lab mix with brindle markings--kind of like a Bengal tiger. Hence her name. I got her from the pound when she was less than 3 months old. She's always been very sweet and loving and a fiesty toy puller. Any noisemaking toy was doomed to eviceration once she got hold of it. She's gone on many back woods hikes, played in the ocean, chased lots of crazy cats and been adopted by a homeless man for 2 days after a youthful escape from my back yard. She is the only dog I have ever seen actually CLIMB a fence. I will miss her and I am sad.

Hello again :)

LilMrs If you find out anything from Phen I'd like to contribute on flowers if you don't mind. Just let me know and we'll go from there. Phen helped me through a lot when I lost the baby before Nikolas so Jad is in good hands and has great support.
Good luck on the job.

Pink Glad you found out about the pain. Like I said, the dr's get a ton from our ins co so use them no matter what.

jbenny Sorry your inlaws are moochers.

ds That was me that asked about what you were going to freeze. Thanks for the link.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dr appt went well. Being my numbers only go high once in a while (when I cheat) they don't forsee me having to go on insulin. I'm so close to induction she said I can manage the next few weeks. So I don't have to see them until 6 weeks after little man comes.
Nikolas and I went to WalMart after the dr. I was hoping to get the same material as his curtains are now, but they don't carry that anymore so I have to see if JoAnn's has it. If not, I have to make new curtains :/ Thing is, I can't sew. I used that sticky tape to make them, and it was easy cause it was a checkered design so I just folded on the straight line. I may actually break down and buy a sewing machine, they had one for $78 and try it out. I can always return it if it doesn't work.
Well I'm off to do dishes and laundry. It seems like laundry never ends :/
OH YEAH... for those of you doing disposable diapers, there is a flushable kind, G Diapers (http://www.gdiapers.com/home). We're thinking about trying them out.
Ok, off to clean.
Gina – I think it is great that your family shops off the registry even though they know the sex. DH’s family would inundate us with clothes. I honestly think that is why DH’s cousin didn’t get much registry stuff. Everyone knew it was a boy.
I tend to buy the small things on registries…bottles, nipples, thermal bags, etc, especially if I know the mom plans to formula feed. How else will the baby eat. I guess I must be an exception. I do sometimes throw in clothes, but that is in addition to a registry item.
Jbenny – I’d be ticked too. It is amazing how some people (esp family) expect you to give them the world when they ask, but when it is your turn you barely get a pebble. We have friends like that too. Always asking for help (non monetary things) and then when you ask for help they are conveniently unavailable.
Pink – I think that if you don’t know then it is best to ask the doctor. I’m sure they are used to it.
Nikosmommy - I have to admit that the G-diapers are rather interesting. I read about them a couple months ago. We are still going to use cloth, but I was thinking of possibly using G-diapers when we travel.
THIS IS A TMI POST, funny IMO but TMI so be forewarned...
I went downstairs to do laundry and when I squatted down to get the clothes out of the washer I had this feeling like I had to pee :eek: Well I thought to myself I can wait until I get upstairs (first mistake) so I empty out the washer and brought the clothes over to the dryer.
I bent over to put the clothes in the dryer when I realized that I couldn't wait until I got upstairs :eek: So I had to grab a towel (I just got out of the shower so all I have on is my robe) and had to use that to catch my oops :o
So now I'm off to jump in the shower again to clean up :rolleyes:
Yeah, I'm not going to miss having the bladder of a 70 year old man at all.
Nikos- That is too funny!! I hope you threw that towel straight into the washer when you were done with it!! I guess I've lucked out in that department so far. Dh laughs at me though because I go sit on the toilet to fart because I am scared that I am going to piss myself. I've caught the beginning of a leak and ran to the bathroom just in time on a couple of occassions.
So I turned in my resume and they will schedule an interview with me for Monday! I talked to my boss and she is rooting for me all the way.
Question...
To those of you that have experienced labor before... how would you describe contractions?
I think I had my first contractions last night. I woke up at 2am and 5am because my belly was aching. It felt hard like BH but there was also a soreness associated with it. I am not 100% sure if they are contractions but I think they might be. This morning I also feel like the bulge in my front lower belly is bigger.
I've had it again this afternoon. I am not good with words, so I don't know how to describe it. It's like a general ache that I can't pinpoint but it's all over my belly and the sides towards the back. My sister, the nurse, said it's ok to have those as long as I have less than 4 per hour.
I'm wondering, could the baby be moving in such a way that would cause that type of sensation? It feels really uncomfortable and kinda painful but tolerable. I plan to ask the OB tomorrow at my scheduled appointment.
I would describe my contrax. when I had connor as dull, achy menstrual cramps. As I progressed, they got a little more painful, but weren't unbearable until I was 8 cm and they broke my water. Then all hell broke loose and within 30 min, they were painful (but still in the same area of those menstrual-like cramps) He was born about 90 min. after having my water broken, so really they were only painful cramps for about 60 min.
Sorry again for no SOs. I know I've been scarce lately and posting only about myself.
Jad ~ I am so sorry for your tremendous loss. You and your husband are in my thoughts and prayers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My u/s today unfortunately didn't yield very good results. They did confirm that she has a stomach problem and also a heart defect. The good news is both are fixable with surgery. The bad is that the chance of Downs Syndrome has also increased. FTR, we didn't do any screening early in the pregnancy.

The stomach problem needs to be resolved surgically within 24-48 hours of birth which means I will need to deliver at the hospital I saw the peri at today (4 hours from here). The heart surgery would take place around 3-6 months of age but is considered a mid-range heart problem and she shouldn't have any long lasting effects.

We're a little overwhelmed right now and just hoping and praying that things will be okay.

Kaeden's: I'm sorry for the not so great news. At least you know what you're facing, and that both problems are fixable. Did they see any other signs of Down's on the ultrasound? Maybe the baby's too big to tell now, but I thought there were things like the size of the limbs, etc that could give them a good idea. I'm thinking of you.

To those of you that have experienced labor before... how would you describe contractions?
Mine started out feeling like menstral cramps, low in my belly but definately cramping that began and ended within a certain period of time (about 40 seconds). They weren't really painful at first, I just knew they were there. As they became more painful, they also involved much more of my belly and back. At their worst I could even feel them up around my diaphram (making me feel like I was going to get sick). Mine were, unfortunately, unbearable at 2 cm which is why I loved my epidural.

Jad: You're in my thoughts and prayers.

kmmommy
05-03-2006, 05:16 PM
ds ~ I will likely have a scheduled induction, but it's not set yet. I hated the peri I saw today so I'm switching to another one. I will see her in a week or 2 (find out tomorrow) and they will probably induce me at the end of the month. I will definitely let you know when I find out. Thanks for the prayers.

jay&erinn ~ There aren't any other signs of Downs. They did look but nothing else is conclusive.

~~

So I just got back from my dr appointment and I am so happy. Can I just say again how thankful I am for my dr. I asked him if he has any recs for a pediatrician and he is actually a family practitioner and told me that he could even see DH. He said he understands if we want someone that specializes in just pediatrics but I am just so happy with him I couldn't go some where else!

Also I talked to him about my concerns as far as the nurses at the Birth Center and he told me that he completely supports my decision and that he will work on my birth plan with me to make sure that I get the birthing experience I want. He also said that he feels comfortable delivering naturally and he will make sure that I get one of the nurses that are more supportive (then he mentioned that I many hardly even see the nurse once they see how great and supportive DH is). Well now I am just rambling... Talk to you girls tomorrow.

Met with my OB this afternoon and everything looks good. Baby is head down now (which I kind of thought as I have been feeling a lot of movement down low, and I've had to pee a lot more frequently now!) BP was normal, and there was only a trace of protein in my urine, so all in all everything looked good. She's happy with my numbers, which are perfect when I follow my diet. I had some potato chips this afternoon and didn't measure my pasta with dinner and my levels were high tonight, but I'm not too worried as I know why and tomorrow I'll be back to being strict. :p

The shower my family is throwing is coming up two weeks from Saturday. I need to find something to wear...any suggestions where I can find an outfit?

Hello :)

maryanne & lawyerwifemom It wasn't my water breaking, it was pee. I know that cause I was able to stop it for a split second to grab the towel. Plus even though I've had contractions all night, there is nothing steady so...

Kaeden's Mommy I'm going to PM you.

Contractions Like the others, to me, it started off as menstrual cramps. They weren't unbearable, just uncomfortable, like your worst period. After they broke my water (4/5 cm) well then it was a whole other ballgame. They were so much more intense and I had to have my epidural after that. There was no waiting what so ever.

km So sorry about your bad news. :( I hope everything works out okay for you and your little girl

nikosmommy I had an accident today, too. I was on the phone with my stepmom, I started coughing, and I totally peed myself. Ugh.

I had the biggest pregnancy brain fart ever today. I wanted to go to BRU to exchange my shower duplicate gifts. Before I left, I made sure to pack all of my gift receipts, gift cards, and cash from the shower into my purse along with my list of what I still needed to get. I was so careful to remember all of that stuff. I needed to stop at Target first. While I was there, I realized that I walked out of the house without any of the stuff I had to take to BRU.:mad: I really wanted to take it back tonite and get the rest of what I needed and be done baby shopping, so I had to drive all the way home and pick up my stuff to be returned. I was so mad at myself.

Hi all, I wanted to drop off a belly shot, and also update on what's been going on with me. I had a shower at my church on Monday, and that was very nice. Received some items I'd registered for such as the pack 'n play, monitor, bathtub, Graco Comfortsport carseat, and a few smaller things. Also, several crocheted blankets, lots of cute onesies, diapers, receiving blankets, and good stuff like that. Very nice.

Our nursery is coming along...finally. :) It's painted, the furniture is set, I just need to finish putting up curtains and get the things from my shower organized and put away. One of these days I'll have pics of the completed room! Our travel system was also delivered yesterday- Graco mosaic. I really like it- not nearly so bulky as a lot of the Graco's.

I had an appointment yesterday- my first internal. :eek: I expected something really dreadful based on what people have told me, but I didn't think it was bad at all. Although, perhaps that's just because there isn't really much going on down there. The doc said my cervix was softening, but was still very long and posterior. The baby's head is down but forward, so definitely no engagement happening there. I have a feeling I'm going to end up closer to my "real" due date (6/2) than my ultrasound due date (5/19). Oh well, more time to get stuff done, right? I still feel pretty good, although getting out of bed has definitely gotten more difficult in the last few days. I feel rather old and decrepit. :rolleyes:

Sorry, I don't have time for s/o's, but I have a feeling I'm going to be late for work as it is...here's my 37 week, 3 day (or 35 week/3 day if going by my original due date) belly shot from Monday:

maryanne Cute outfit!

graffy You look great!

More weird registry activity I looked at my registry after returning my duplicates last night, and the items I had returned were added back onto my registry in the to be purchased category. WTF is up with BRU? Am I the only one having these problems?

Hello All :D

I contacted Phen about possibly getting Jad some flowers and this was her response...

She lost the babies several months ago and has been having a very hard time. I am not positive flowers would be a good thing for her right now. Maybe just sending good thoughts to her and her family, particularly on Mother's Day. I know that's a day she is really not looking forward to, but maybe knowing so many people are thinking of her on that day will help her get through it.

Thanks for asking. I know she'll appreciate all y'all's good thoughts one day, when she's ready.

So on that note, just some good thoughts and prayers right now to help her and her family get through this.

Graffy You glowing beauty you :D

maryanne Even if Melody doesn't come for the 4th, she can wear that Labor Day weekend, it's cute :)

jbenny As I was reading your BRU story I knew that you forgot the stuff and I'm sorry I had to laugh. I know it wasn't funny at the moment, but I could just see where you were going with that. You were so careful to remember everything else, of course you were going to forget the stuff.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have a BPP today at 10. I know I have to go, but I don't feel like it, I'm having some opposite of constipation problems right now :o I'm very surprised it's happening cause I am taking my prenatal vitamins and an iron pill supplement, both which are supposed to cause constipation so...
vent/worry here: Everyone here and IRL knows that I'm close to being induced. Especially one of the moms in Niko's play group, the one who we're getting the furniture from. I called her on Mon night to tell her the room would be ready for the furn by Thur. I saw her Tues and she said she had to talk to her husband when they could bring it over. I saw her last night and she says either this Sat (doesn't really think so) or next Wed :eek: We were talking with another lady at the time and I tried to stress in a playful that I'm waiting for her stuff to be able to see where I'm going to place the baby and Nikolas and I don't want to be in labor worrying about getting the furniture over the house.
I am so grateful that we didn't have to buy anything, but I'm still stressed that we won't get it in time and that I can't really set up the room until I see the stuff in there. I want to hang shelves and all that stuff but need to know where everything will be.
I can't demand she give it to me this weekend, and I don't want to cut into her family time, but I really want to get the furniture Sat so we can finish the room. I have to email her to thank her for inviting me out last night so I'm going to try to work it in there somehow. Hopefully it will work.
THANKS FOR LETTING ME VENT.
nikos Is there anyway that you can send people over there to get the stuff. Maybe the delay is in her head about coordinating it all to bring to you and this will make it easier.
graffyyou look great !
jbennythe only time I have issues with BRU is when I have to wait a few days for the stuff that I changed in the store to update online.
Jbenny – the BRU registry can be a nightmare. I returned some stuff over a month ago from my registry and it took a couple days for it to be reflected. BRU really needs to do something about the poor registry updating system especially since they are changing the return policy. I would hate to be stuck with duplicate items just because their registry system is flawed.
Nikosmommy – I was also going to suggest trying to pick it up yourselves.
I almost completely split my pants this morning. I went to the bathroom at work and then decided to do some squats to help stretch my groin. Well, I heard a pop-pop and new immediately what had happened. Luckily I only busted the first set of stitches, so I’m still protected by the last set. I will need to break out the sewing machine to fix these because I just love this pair of capris. Evidently they are not as stretchy as many of my other pants.
It seems that the days I can't stop by here are the days that everyone is posting like crazy! I apologize for not doing complete SOs, but do have to say
Jad, you and your family are in my thoughts. Please know that you and your babies are in all our prayers.
Kaedens : I know the news about your daughter's health was hard to hear, but I'm positive that she will pull through all her surgeries and quickly move past her health issues. We are all rooting for her!
Lawyer: So sorry to hear about your dog. :(
Shaq, Dan's girl, Graffy: You all look beautiful! Look at those babies grow!
I hate to complain about my pregnancy related aches-and-pains when so many of my fellow CC members are dealing with real heartache. So, I'm going to keep my trap shut and instead focusing on the amazing baby growing inside me.
Hope everyone is doing well this week!
Graffy- You look amazing! I can't believe you are so close!
Niko- Thank you for talking to Phen for me. I will definitely be thinking of Jad and her family. I was thinking that Brian might be able to get someone with a pick up and go over there to grab the furniture. I know it's hard because they are doing you a favor yet you want to make sure that they follow through.
Maryanne- Very cute 4th of July out fit! Here's ours... We bought it right after we found out that we might be having a 4th of July baby and it was on clearance for $4 at the time. We accidentally bought girls shoes though... He'll never know the difference.
amurphy- If you want to vent you can always pm me. I don't mind hearing it :)
DS- that is is too funny! I have come close with one pair of pants and since then I always do a couple of squats in the morning to make sure that I have some bending room.
I'll have to look at the tribute for Jad after I post.
~~
Update on me- I got my hair colored last night. Nothing too drastic, I just wanted to add some richness to the color so I let my stylist play with it a little. I think it came out pretty good. It's not enough to notice that I got my hair done but enough to where people think that I put some extra effort into my look.
Just wanted to pop in and drop off this cute thing my mom sent me this morning. Hope I dont offend anyone(it talks about God) :)
A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"
God said, "Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."
The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."
God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."
Again the child asked, "And how am I ! going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I >don't know the language?"
God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."
"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"
God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."
"Who will protect me?"
God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life. "
"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."
God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."
At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."
God said, "You will simply call her, "Mom."
Hello again :)
ds I split my pants and I wasn't pg :o
LilMrs Cute outfit :) Those shoes don't look girlie.
Furniture I wish we could pick it up. She has this huge SUV and thinks she's going to have to make 2 trips with it. We just have the Saab & Saturn. She actually called while I was at the dr so I'm going to call her back later and let her know how much I'm stressing about the room not being done w/o actually coming out and saying anything about not having the furniture. She should pick up on it.
My BPP went well. He passed again like a champ. Was doing his breathing exercises the whole time but didn't want to move. I had to wake him up so we could finish the test.
Well I have to do dishes. I was hoping Brian would have done them last night when I went out, but no such luck :/
Everyone ~ Thank you so much for your kind words of strength and encouragement. I love being able to turn to all of you as friends when many of my IRL friends wouldn't understand. We appreciate all your continued thoughts and prayers.
Kaeden's-So sorry to hear about your scary news. Do you have a more specific diagnosis? I have been working in Pediatrics for 8 years now and have seen alot successful surgeries in the post natal period and would love to be able to give you any encouraging words if I can. Hang in there, you are in my prayers.
Niko's-I can totally relate with the accidents especially with this stent in. We live in a 4 bedroom house with just one bathroom on the second floor. This is TMI, but I have a "pee cup" I keep under the kitchen sink because I can't make it upstairs all the time, I also keep one in the basement for when I'm doing laundry! WAY GROSS, but better than peeing myself, my DS is quite fascinated with it too...our little secret.:rolleyes: He tells everyone that "mommy pees in a cup" and I just tell everyone that he comes to all my doctor's visit so he sees everything.....
Hi, all. Someone told me that my news had been posted, and I wanted to come thank you for your kind thoughts. I've been doing my best to stay away from the thread since, as you can probably imagine, it's quite painful to think about what should have been. I developed a uterine infection back in February that caused me to go into labor. My sons were born after about 40 hours of labor. They were beautiful and healthy and big for their gestational age, but they were just too early to survive for very long. Giving birth to them, knowing what the outcome would be, was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. It's a pain that I hope none of you ever know.
Naturally DH and I would like to have another child. So those of you who pray, please pray for my sons and also for a healthy brother or sister to bring home sometime next year. I wish you all safe arrivals of your children.
ruby ~ Her heart defect is called AVSD. It should require only one surgery which is positive news. I'd be happy to hear any other encouraging info you can share. :)
ruby
05-04-2006, 02:30 PM
Kaeden's- This heart defect is more common than most people think and quite fixable. We have had many babies with it who are perfectly healthy in the long run. What I would recommend is setting up an appt with a genetic counselor who can go over stats and recommended evals you should have given that there are 2 different problems emerging and speaking with your current Pedi about finding a neonatologist close to you to have a consult with you to prepare you for the upcoming surgeries. Good luck and hugs....
Jad~You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
I found out what my itchy rash is....
About 1 percent of women develop itchy, red bumps and larger patches of a hive-like rash on their bellies in the second half of pregnancy, usually in the last month or two. These irritations are called pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP for short) or polymorphic eruption of pregnancy. They usually show up first on the abdomen around or in stretch marks (if you have any) and then spread to the thighs, the buttocks, and sometimes the arms. They're harmless for you and your baby, but they can itch like crazy!
(from Babycenter.com)
So at least I'm not turning into a big nasty infectious person, LOL.
Threadmistress, feel free to post my 33 week belly shot on the front pages, it is a page or two back. thanks!
I don't have anything different to say other than what's already been said here, but I hope and pray that you and your DH get through this difficult time together. I continue to send my thoughts and prayers that you heal, and that you are blessed with a healthy pregnancy as soon as you're ready. Be well and take care.
Graffy you look great!
Had a bit of a reality check this morning. I realized that every single weekend between now and my EDD DH and I have something going on. This means we will never again have a weekend just for us. (At least not for the next 18 years!) :eek: Kind of drives it home a bit for me...
Kaeden's-I believe this is the same heart defect my cousin's baby has. They had no idea she had it until birth and they waited until 6 months to do surgery and she came out fine but will require more surgeries in the future (which could be for the other problems with her heart I'm not familiar with). She had a few other defects in her heart too that I don't know much about. She does NOT have Down's Syndrome although I've been told it's very common for babies with that particular heart defect. She's a little small and was slow to crawl because of her surgery on her chest, but I believe she is developmentally right where she should be and she is adorable and a great joy to our family! She's just over a year old and walking and talking like crazy now!
Hi everyone, I rarely post here although I do lurk now and then to see how everyone is doing. My pg is going well for the most part but I am having contractions that are more regular than I would like. I'm not officially on bedrest but my doc encourages me to take it easy as much as possible. Mother's instinct tells me that this baby is coming early. I'm already starting to drop and everyone always tells me how it looks like I have a basketball in my belly! On another note, my DS is turning two next week! I can hardly believe it. Someone recently said that having two young ones is not double the work but it's quadruple! :eek: I'm looking at my calendar for the month of May and it's going to be a very busy one. My friends are throwing me a Girl's Day towards the end of May. I hope I make it! My prediction is that the baby will be early and he'll weigh 8 pounds. Again, just mother's intuition.
On top of my already crazy life and schedule, I have a job interview tomorrow. Wish me luck!
