appetite - since I still feel nauseous all day, I have been eating usually every 2-2 1/2 hours. I eat a lot of Life cereal, Ham/cheese sandwiches, some ice cream and I go through phases with other stuff. The only thing I have really been drinking is mostly Lemonade (watered down) and chocolate milk (ovaltine). It's hard because I have a lot of congestion in the back of my throat which makes me gag and throw up sometimes and whatever I drink seems to always make it worse so I am constantly soooo thirsty.
belly - I definately notice a difference and it doesn't help that I still have weight to lose from my last pregnancy.
boy vs. girl - Since I have twin boys it would be nice to have a little girl but I will be happy either way. Little boys are wonderful and I am already used to being the only queen in our house! :)

oh my goodness!! so much going on in here!
bellabonga and purplesunshine oh my goodness! I'm SO very sorry for your losses. Since I've been such an emotional wreck these days, I was very much depressed by your news! I hope that you are all doing well. PLEASE take care of yourselves and hugs to everyone.
amyE WOW!! congrats on twins!! try not to worry too much about the vanishing twin...just take it one day at a time. you'll know more very soon.
As for me, things are going ok, i suppose. not much new, actually, besides almost crying every 5 minutes. I was balling last night when I watched an old episode of ER. But I've been really busy with my research so i've been a work horse to get ready for a conference in a few weeks. Its really wearing me out, and I need some rest. not very fun, actually. :(
appetite I've been doing well with this actually. I was sorta blessed to not have MS too bad. I definately have aversions though. I've been craving cheese lately. yummy
discharge I definately have some too. Not enough for a liner, but still noticable. Much more discharge now than during my regular cycles.
belly I have quite the little belly, but I think a lot of it is bloating. Although, I'm really the only one who says its changed. DH doesn't seem to think its THAT much bigger. I've already switched to maternity pants, but that's more because they're SO much more comfortable. They are a little big, but I don't mind.
boy vs girl i don't care either way, and i haven't had any dreams, but DH has been calling the baby a he, so that kinda stuck with me too. We're not going to find out the sex, though, so I'm going to be anxious by December!!
how's DH? DH has been SO SO sweet lately. Before pg, I would talk about babies, and he would just tune me out, but now he's very much interested and wants to be a part of everything. Last week we had a long 9 hour drive, and he wanted me to read outloud from the baby books we got as he was driving. Too cute.
i hope everyone is doing well!!

10 weeks exactly
Belly: All my clothes still fit even though my lower abdomen does seem to be a bit more distended than usual. That could always be the gas and constipation though. So I really don't think the baby is doing any showing yet.
Cravings/Aversions: Much like all of you, what sounds good to me changes moment to moment and it's a bit of a nuisance. I got some good advice from a close friend recently about food. She's had two kids and you would never know from looking at her. She said that this is not a time (pregnancy) for us to give in to indulgences and feel it's okay to be lazy regarding exercise. She called this a very American thought process and advised that if there's ever a time in our lives, now is the time to be healthy. We owe it to our growing babies, and we owe it to them once they're born. We'll be happier and feel sexier, being better mothers and wives, if we don't indulge in silly cravings that make us carry more fat than we need to.
Of course this is not something that's easy to hear, but I really respect her as a woman and a mother, and therefore took this advice to heart. I just thought I'd share it with you. I haven't followed this advice to a T, but I hope to once I'm feeling better.
I've been eating an orange every day too.
Discharge: I don't have much more discharge than I did before I was pregnant. I used to not wear underwear very often, but now I definitely am.
Boy or Girl: I feel like I want a boy, but I need to get over that. Of course I'll be happy with a healthy baby, either sex, but I know I want a boy someday, and I guess I'd like to check it off on the first pregnancy. I can't assume I'll be able to get pregnant again (who knows what will happen with my health, etc.) and I know a couple families with three girls. These are two scenarios that are not ideal to me and therefore fuel this preference for a boy. Any advice on getting over this?
Husband: My husband has been really supportive and is happy to talk about the baby anytime. He is sensitive, however, to talking aobut it around other people. He doesn't want it to be the only thing we talk about, which inevitably would alienate some of those around us who may have no interest in babies. So that's just something we watch.

This is so me.
Boy or Girl I don't care as long as he or she is healthy. We already have a little boy. However, I CAN'T wait to find out the sex! I can't believe I have to wait so long. I want to know now! :D
Today is my first appointment! I will update when i get back!

Okay, I do agree with this but want to stress that anyone with M/S needs to ignore this bit of advice while they are fighting the effects of M/S and just give their body whatever it is asking for. If you are craving a soda, have it. You're body probably needs the sugar. If popcorn is the only thing you can stomach, have it. Your body probably needs some carbs and/or sodium. Don't push yourself with exercise if your body is rebeling and screaming "No more". M/S can be reeeeeeeeeeeeally rough and you need to coddle yourself and do whatever it takes to get you thourgh the day. Once M/S passes (quickly we hope although last time mine lasted until 19 weeks and even occasionally after that) get into an exercise routine, take long walks in the evening and get back to eating grilled chicken and veggies. :)

Appetite - I have had a huge increase in appetite. About every two hours I feel like I am starving and if I don't get food I will perish. Then when I get the food after a few bites I am fine and don't want the rest of it. I hate water right now, I told the Doc and she said it would pass, just drink plenty of other liquids. I love apple juice and Root Beer I have never been a fan of Root Beer. Now I love the stuff I feel so guilty. :o Oh and Chocolate milk a big cold glass every evening. :D
Pasta makes me gag or the smell of tomato sauce. I tried to microwave a little turkey for a sandwich and gagged, I hate the taste of the nuked turkey. I can't stand to look at raw meat either. I haven't had any morning sickness but aversions I have plenty. :o
Belly - I am sooooo bloated I would never know if I was showing the Doc said it was my intestines all puffed up and backed up.
Discharge - It is like I have a water fall in my pants. I use about 2-3 liners a day. Crazy
boy vs girl - Not sure what I want but my husband is set on having a son so I have fallen into saying 'he" along with him. I really don't care. I just want to know what color to paint the room.
how's DH? - DH is a crazy man he wants to talk to the belly and kiss the belly and rub the belly. And I don't want to be touched. He wants to rub my feet and my back. He is sweet but I don't have the heart to tell him leave me the heck alone. Except when I am ready to sleep or nap. I am serious about my rest.

belly: Well, you really can't SEE a belly, but I think my waist must be bigger because my pants are tight now. My DH says he can't see anything.
cravings/aversions: I'm having some cravings but not too many aversions, though I still can't eat a big hunk of meat. I am loving cottage cheese and yogurt. I am also still really wanting a lot of carbs (bagels, mostly).
discharge: I have had absolutely none. Weird how people can be so different. I did not even realize this was a symptom.
boy/gilr: I have had 2 dreams that I had a girl. But my DH refers to the baby as "Cletus" (as in "Cletus the Fetus" - haha), so we refer to it as a "he" a lot. I thought I REALLY wanted a girl, but now I feel really impartial.
husband: He is doing really well. I think it is a lot for guys to take in, and they do not get as much support as we do. He has days where he is quiet about it, but then he has days where he is really cute. Like he always refers to me as two people. He will come sit with me and say "I just wanted to come sit next to you guys". Or he will say "I just want to spend the day with my two favorite people". He also reads the baby magazines and is all excited about building something for the nursery.

I agree - I'm all for not going crazy with the sugar and fat just b/c you're pregnant, but I'm also for listening to your body and doing what you need to do in order to get by. I'd love to be exercizing right now, but my doctor doesn't want me to do anything that raises my heart-rate unnecessarily. I had a sub-chorionic bleed on the u/s and anything that causes extra blood to pump is not good. If my next u/s shows that the bleed has been absorbed then I'll definitely start taking long walks with DH or doing some walking on the treadmill at the gym. :)

Husband~ He was the one pestering me before pg, "So when are we going to start a family? When? When??" and last year I finally told him that after the 2005-06 snowboarding season, then we'd start trying. When I got the BFP, he was the one who cried when I showed him the HPT. He's so excited about the baby and about being a dad, he'll talk to anyone and everyone about it. He said he now talks to people who come into his work (retail) who has kids...telling them he's an expectant father, how many weeks along I am, etc etc.
He's even reading some of my pg books, especially Your Pregnancy Week By Week. We'll be talking on the phone and he'll randomly say, "It's the size of a small lime this week!!" He's excited about any and all dr's appts and comes with me to them...our next appt is tomorrow and he's thrilled that we might hear the heartbeat and find out when our first u/s is.
He's treating me like a queen...I get to pick where or what we eat for dinner, he gives me leg rubs and back rubs, helps with dishes and laundry, he even cleaned my TOILET for me last week b/c he didn't want me to be around the clorox fumes!! He's a total sweetie, I couldn't have asked for a more supportive husband. :D To be honest, I often feel a bit spoiled. But then I think, hey! I'm the one who has to give birth! And I get over it pretty quickly and feel like I deserve nothing but the best...
Sorry this turned into a novel, I just feel so lucky and blessed to have so much support & help coming from him. I know some guys don't know how to feel since theyr'e not the ones carrying the baby, but so far I feel like it's the both of us in this together, not just me doing most of the work and him sitting on the sidelines not sure what to do. :)

Hey Janu98, sorry about the scare. I had a spot a few days ago but nothing since then. I know that the occasional spot isn't totally uncommon so I'm trying to not freak (trying being the operative word).
We will not be finding out the sex. We found out last time and it was great and all but I figure that this time, we're set for either a boy or a girl so we'll just take whatever God gives us. My symptoms all seem to point towards "girl" but I can't shake this feeling that's saying "boy".

05-25-2006, 11:37 AM
I'm finding out the gender. I don't want to start thinking about the baby one way and then find out at birth that it is the other (although I know that can happen even with u/s). I don't want to be "disappointed" if he/she is not the gender I thought they would be. I would like to know going into it, boy or girl so I can prepare.
Janu - I'm sorry you had a spotting scare! I know how terrifying that can be. I have a bit of brownish/pinkish spotting. My doctor put me on progesterone and that seems to have taken care of most of it. She thinks the spotting is due to the sub-chorionic bleed I had when the baby attached to the uterine wall. I'm glad you were able to get in to see the doctor as that probably helped set your mind at ease a bit. My doctor told me to take Tylenol for any cramping I had to minimize any more bleeding that might occur from the cramping.

janu98 sorry about the spotting scare. I know lots of women who had spotting in the 1st trimester and had perfectly healthy babies.
sex of the baby we will definitely find out. Although this clinic that I don't like makes a big deal about your 20 week u/s being diagnostic and NOT for fun or gender determination. They do seem to go out of their way to suck the joy out of pregnancy :(
DH he's doing ok. There are times when I think he's not the least bit engaged and then I'll say something like, "the baby is the size of a grape today" and he'll say, "I know and it still has a tail." So I will come to find our he spends as much time at babyzone.com as I do.
There was a toys r us right down the street from me but it closed. I was kind of bummed but I drove by last night and saw they are putting in a babies r us! Woo hoo! :D

Sex of the baby We plan to find out. We found out with DD and have no regrets about it at all. I have no preference for girl or boy. DH would like a boy since we already have a girl, but bottom line is that we are just hoping for a healthy baby and will be beyond thrilled with either gender.
DH DH has been really sweet and excited about this pg. When I was pg with my DD we were both so, so scared (we’d had two losses and I went through a year’s worth of medical complications) that we hardly talked about my being pg until I was into my 2nd trimester. I think this time he feels a little more hopeful. I’ve been getting lots of belly kisses, and he has been very empathetic about all my m/s and exhaustion.
janu98 I had spotting throughout my 6th week of this pg. With my DD I had spotting and full-on bleeding from weeks 5–9 and all was fine. I know it is horribly nerve-wracking, but it is not uncommon. Perhaps your cervix just got a little irritated by something? Hang in there!
All is fine here. Still pukey, but it’s not as horrible as before, and my food aversions aren’t as bad either. I really feel like the fog might be starting to lift, and I am so looking forward to getting into the second trimester. I told a few more friends yesterday—the moms in my moms group went to a happy hour, and as soon as I ordered a coke they were suspicious! No need for maternity clothes yet (I am 10.5 wks along), but I have a noticeable little belly by the end of the day. I definitely did not show this much this quickly with DD.
I hope everyone has a relaxing Memorial Day weekend. We are heading to DC for a week (DH’s college reunion and to visit friends and family), so I may not be back for a bit. I am looking forward to getting away, but am dreading the cross-country flight with my DD!
ETA: I forgot to address the discharge topic. Tons, and tons of it here. Just a ridiculous amount. It started the week before I got my BFP and hasn't let up since.

Sex of the baby: We will not find out, we want to keep it a surprise for us and others :) We already have names for both, boy and girl, and in Russian tradition we cannot buy anything for the baby till the baby is born, so why find out the sex? As along as it is healthy ;)
DH is doing ok, he is busy finishing up his little projects around the house, he is keeping himself busy, so he does not get irritated with seeing me on the couch all the time ;)
Discharge tons, and tons and tons... I change my pads twice a day...
Any one else’s husband have cravings? Steve has been craving ice cream this week, and I do not want to tell him, but he start to look more pregnant then I am ;) I think it is all this ice cream every night.

Had my first "official" appt today...yeah! So now am on the every 4 week appt track. They took blood, checked BP and the other standard stuff. I got to hear the heartbeat (no ultrasound since I already had two) so that was very exciting and relieved some of my worry...not that I had any real "reason" or bad symptoms. I am past the point where I had a m/c last summer so am very excited! Most of my nausea has let up but am still pretty tired so that makes me happy, too!
Gender We are definitely finding out. Any secret I can find out...I do! so can't wait for that. The Chinese calendar I checked says boy and that successfully predicted a few friends so that is in my head for now which is fine. I just want a healthy baby.
DH He has been good but nothing over the top. When he sees me doing something he thinsk I shoudln't be he definitely says somethings and takes over which is nice. I may have to use that to my advantage ;)

I don't know a whole lot about dishcharge and whatnot, so I have no idea what it could be, but I did a quick search over at Babycenter.com and came up with an article titled "Pregnancy Symptoms You Should Never Ignore". Here's what they had to say about discharge/spotting:
"• Vaginal bleeding or spotting.
• An increase in vaginal discharge or a change in the type of discharge — that is, if it becomes watery, mucousy, or bloody, even if it's only pink or blood-tinged. (Note: After 37 weeks, an increase in mucous discharge is normal and may indicate that you'll be going into labor soon.)"
http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/pregnancy/prenatalhealth/1622.html
I would check with the doctor regarding anything you're concerned about, to find out if you should be really concerned or to put your mind at ease. :) Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well!

hi janu - i do know that discharge is normal, but i would double check with your doc, especially after some spotting and changes in discharge. i do know there is a thread somewhere in the pregnancy forum that talks about spotting - collected stories. that might be of some use.
finding out the sex wow! it looks like most everyone is finding out! we have decided NOT to though. I'm awful at keeping secrets, but this is one thing that I think is one of life's awesome surprises. plus, I'm excited to have all gender neutral things. perfect for future babies. :D
maternity clothes i don't really NEED maternity clothes yet, but i did want to do some shopping while we were out of town last week. (we live in a small town with NO good shopping) anyways, i was really dissapointed in the selection at an old navy that we stopped in, since they have cute stuff online. it was really picked over and i couldn't find anything in my size. So, after coming home, i ordered a bunch of stuff online, and it came yesterday. Its all awesome! it fits so well, and I'm SO excited! who else is wearing maternity clothes?
do we need some belly shots around here? :) here is my 11 week shot

I had my first OB appointment yesterday. I still haven't met the doctors yet. I really don't like this office but since I live in a rural area, these are the only doctors in town that deliver babies so I have no other choice. Anyways, the nurse was going to send me home without trying to hear the heartbeat or get an ultrasound. I thought that was bizarre since she wanted to wait another month to do both of these. She then decided to use the doppler but she couldn't find the heartbeat and I was starting to freak out and she just said it was too soon. So, she ended up sending me over to get an u/s. There we saw the baby! And the heartbeat! I am so in love with this baby! And the best part was my Dh and our son were also in the room to see the baby and my 2 year old son kept saying babyeeeeeeee! My big u/s is Aug 17 and of course I will be finding out the sex. There is no way I could wait until the end. We have no family living around us so if we waited, then I would be the one that would have to go buy everything after the baby shows up. And if I end up with a c/s again then that would be a nightmare having to do all that by myself.
mandersald You look so great! I am so much bigger than you. I look at least 4 months pregnant.
(we live in a small town with NO good shopping)
We have no shopping here. I think only one store sells maternity and I went the other day and they had one rack. I will probably have to order online too.
janu98 I had spotting and it was really scary but I haven't seen any since.
My DH He just got out of surgery. They had to put another stent in but it went well. However, he has to spend the weekend in the hospital.
Hope you all have a great weekend!

I have been lurking for a while but I'm finally ready to post. I had a CVS done Wednesday and not that it's over I feel a lot more confident about coming out with the news. We will know the sex next Wednesday and that is truly exciting!
Things are good over here...I have morning sickness, basically all day nausea, but it's starting to go away. My boobs have grown an entire size already and I must be the ONLY ONE who is actually showing. I already had a bit of a pouchy belly (all my life, how sad), and it has definitely popped out quite a bit. This week I couldn't fit into my normal jeans any more. Today, I shop! I must find something comfortable to wear.;)
DH has been lovely. He really took care of me Wed and Thurs after the test and has been pretty good about enduring my occasionally bitchy outbreak. I'm thankful for that.
We had our first ultra-sound on the 9th. The little peanut was there with a fluttering heartbeat and we could see the arms and legs as well. It was awe-inspiring. We saw the baby again on Wed for the CVS. It was a trip! Peanut was swimming around in my uterus, literally bouncing off the walls. Doc said, "Look at who's awake in there!" It was cute.
Anyway, hi to everyone and may you all stay safe and sane until December!!!

Hey, how are you able to find out the gender so early? My dr said that usually around 17-18 weeks is when they're able to tell the gender via u/s...that's still 4-5 weeks away for me. :( I'm dying to find out what it is...

Jen, they find out through the CVS testing. Because it's genetic testing, much like an amnio, they find out through the genes. (Not through ultra-sound.) You can choose not to find out but Dave and I totally want to know! I can't wait to start picking out decorations!!!
Kat, what was your wedding channel name? I'm over here and on LJ too. Come by for a visit!!!

Since mandersald posted her belly shot, I decided to get one of my own. I definitely look pregnant. I haven't been able to wear regular pants for weeks and now my shirts are starting to get too small too.
On Friday DH and I went out to dinner and he heard the waitress talking about me being pregnant. Then on Saturday we went to the Tigers game and a lady came up and started rubbing my belly and she asked when I was due.
So here it is:

Welcome Maureen!
Delaney21 You look great. I can't believe people are talking about it and rubbing your belly!
I just bought a bella band. I figure I will give it a try. Mostly I can just get away with the skirts I have that are elastic. My non-elastic clothes are a little uncomfortable if I button them so I thought I'd try this.

Delaney~~Yay for belly shots! I'm glad I'm not the only one with a protruding BUMP!!! You look great. I had my first person rub my belly this weekend. Thank god she asked me first! It was a little weird, but I wasn't as weirded out as I thought I would be.

yay delaney!!! your belly shots looks so great! I actually wish that I had more of a bump. Mine is more just like all around large-ness. I don't think I look pg, but I'm glad that no one is rubbing my belly yet.
I'm SO excited for my next appt on thursday!
Hope everyone had a happy memorial day.

Delaney21~ Your belly looks so cute!! Unfortunately mine just looks more poochier than it normally does, not anything like a preggo belly. I should start with some belly shots soon though, if only for comparison's sake. I suck at taking my own pictures, I attempted to take some a few weeks ago and didn't have much luck getting them to come out. DH said he'd take them for me...so perhaps tomorrow. :)

Since Father's Day is coming up in just a few weeks, I was wondering what you ladies are planning on giving the fathers-to-be on that special day, if anything? I've been browsing Red Envelope, trying to get some ideas but am blanking out right now.

Father's Day - DH bought me a card and cooked me breakfast on Mother's Day. We're still a bit nervous about this pregnancy so I probably won't do anything bigger than that.

Father's day I don't think we are going to do anything. DH has been very superstitious about this pg. We didn't do anything for Mother's Day either. Still, I need something for my Dad...
I'm getting very anxious for my appt next Wednesday.

We're not doing anything for Father's Day either. Like Pacificbliss, we are a little superstitious, too. We didn't do anything for Mother's Day so we're definitely not doing anything!
Question: Is anyone renting a Doppler? I think I am going to just for piece of mind. Waiting 4 weeks for reassurance is just going to kill me and I know I was able to hear with one already at the Dr.

doppler Yup I got my doppler today. We tried it out and were able to hear the baby moving around but were unable to pick the up the heartbeat. I rented one with my DD and loved it and that is the only way I can tell I heard the baby moving.

FAther's Day--we won't do anything. Same as you all we didn't do anything for Mother's Day either. Probably the superstitious thing.
Doppler--My MIL use to be a neo-natal nurse and she got a doppler as a "going away" present when she left. I'm actually not sure how it came to be in her position, but she said we could use it any time....

doppler I think a doppler would be fun. I wonder if Dh would think I was crazy. How much are they to rent?

I did go ahead and get one and got it from BabyBeat.com. The one I got is $30/month but they have them a little less than that. I went with month to month rental since I didn't know how long I'd want to keep it.

Fathers Day- we will be doing something to celebrate since we already have 2 sons. Not sure what we will do yet though.
My m/s has gotten worse now so, even with my zofran, I am throwing up 1x per day. I know I shouldn't complain because is could be much worse but I still hate throwing up and hate feeling this way all the time. I am just hopeful that it will only last the first trimester and then I will feel better.....

I just wanted to post a belly shot. I really am not showing, but I figured it was a good time, since I just started the second trimester.
13 weeks, 3 days:

Here I am at exactly 4 weeks, for comparison:

Doctor: I just went to the doctor today, and I heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time! I am sad that my DH was not there (we did not know we would be hearing it), but we SAW the heartbeat and the baby last time, so it's OK. I will be having my big ultrasound in about 7 weeks.
Oh, BTW, the heartbeat was in the mid-160's. Does anyone know whether that is closer to the girl range or the boy range?

12 weeks, 2 days
Had the U/S for Down's screening yesterday--since I'm at that "advanced maternal age"
It went fine--the heartneat was perfect and the baby looked great--but I was a little upset at how rough the U/S tech was. I mean, apparently the baby wasn't in the "right" position to get the accurate neck measurement, but she just kept pushing and pushing on my belly--it was quite uncomfortable and I even got a little scared at one point. I guess that's "normal" but I've had 4 U/S over 2 pregnancies, and this was the first time it was so rough. Has anyone else had to have this type of U/S?

Hi all. I have been very hesitant to join this thread officially, even though I have been following all of you since the thread started. :) I suffered a loss back in September at 8 weeks and I have been so nervous about this pregnancy. I've noticed that several of you have had previous losses as well, so I guess I am in good company (although I am sorry any of us had to experience that heartbreak). I was completely crushed and heartbroken for the ladies who have left this thread. My heart literally ached as I read their stories as I think I know how they felt. I too, had to leave my last pregnancy thread (April thread) and it just feels awful to have to come in and tell the group you lost your baby and no longer be able to share in the joy with everyone else. It just sucks.
I keep thinking that maybe I am tempting fate by once again joining a pregnancy group thread but I think I am ready. I have had a total of 5 ultrasounds so far (!!) and have heard the heartbeat at 10 weeks, so I am really keeping my fingers crossed that all is okay. I keep hearing that once you hear the heartbeat your risk of m/c goes way down, but I still don't feel comforted.
Well, enough about that. Here's a little more about me.

I have a question already! :) I just purchased a 6-pack of Dasani Lemon flavored water and only noticed after drinking a bottle that it is flavored with Splenda. When I called my OB's office, they said it was okay "in moderation" but now I am thinking I will just give them away.
Can any of you recommend a flavored water that doesn't contain artificial sweetners? I am paranoid, I realize. :o But I am not a great water drinker in general and flavored waters are the only way I can get my daily water intake. Thanks!

What about adding fresh lemon into your water, thats what i do!!
katmg

Congrats Rileymom!
On the water issue, FWIW, I too, asked my OB about the Spenda thing. She didn't have a problem with me drinking those types of products, but I'd just prefer to not make it my main source of fluids. I haven't found a natually flavored water at this point. Can you keep lemons or limes around and just squeeze some of that in your water? Maybe even one of those plastic "lemons" would work?
I find that if the water is icy cold that it easier for me to drink than if it is even slightly less than cold. Just my .02.

Regarding the water thing, I know these won't taste as good as the Dasani w/lemon flavor (I love those things!) but Crystal Light has those little On The Go Packets that flavor water like lemonade, fruit punch, iced tea, etc.
http://www.kraftfoods.com/CRYSTALLIGHT/MAIN.ASPX?M=PRODUCT/PRODUCTCATALOGRESULTS&SITEID=1&CATALOGTYPE=3&SUBBRANDID=1498&PageNo=1
They do contain aspartame, which is another artificial sweetener, but this is what I found on ivillage pertaining to pregnancy & aspartame:
http://parenting.ivillage.com/pregnancy/psafe/0,,3wdg,00.html
Or perhaps try diluting the lemon Dasani water with regular water so you're still getting the lemony flavor, but not as much of the Splenda? :)

Welcome RileyMom I am so happy to see you here. We are in the same boat. I'm 11 weeks but my Dr hasn't checked anything yet. I am afraid of my appointment next Wednesday.
water I have also been squeezing lemon in my water. I actually always have done that since I think the water here is gross. I have also seen packets in the grocery store called real lemon or true lemon or something like that. They do not have sweeteners.

Just doing a quick search on flavored water now, you've piqued my interest! :)
Crystal Geyser has a naturally flavored sparkling water available in lemon, lime, orange, and berry.
http://www.crystalgeyser.com/smw/cgw_smw.html
Aquafina has a flavored water called Flavor Splash available in grape, citrus, wild berry, and raspberry, and they claim they use natural flavoring in it.
http://www.aquafina.com/flavorSplash.html
I know Von's and Pavillion's carry a Vons Select brand flavored sparkling water line, but I cannot recall if they use artificial or natural flavoring and can't find any nutritional info about it online. They taste very yummy though, and there's a whole bunch of flavors.
Check out the water aisle in your local supermarket, you might find some other flavored water out there that you might feel more comfortable drinking in larger quantities than the lemon Dasani. :) I love my water, and adding a touch of flavor makes it taste that much more enjoyable.

Thanks everyone! I could bring some lemons into work and squeeze them into my water, which would actually be more economic than buying the bottled waters (our tap water here tastes gross too, although it is safe - just nasty tasting.) I kind of think it might be a pain to be slicing and squeezing lemons all day though. I am lazy. :p The packets don't sound like a bad idea either.
Wow, rancid13, thanks for doing all that research! I'm definitely going to have to look a little closer at the water aisle. I really hate the idea of "buying" water, but if it helps me to drink more, its worth it I guess. I also followed the link to ivillage you provided and they also have something on Splenda in case anyone is interested.
http://parenting.ivillage.com/pregnancy/psafe/0,,8x92,00.html
I guess it is safe after all. They are more concerned that pregnant women consuming splenda are eating low-calorie foods instead of foods higher in calorie, which pregnant women need. I still would feel better about a natural substitute though. But it is safe.
This has all been helpful. Thanks.

As far as the Splenda thing, I have heard it was absolutely fine (in several books). Not that I am trying to contradict your doctor (who, of course, knows a lot better than me). But I have been drinking it pretty regularly! I guess I should check with my doctor.

Chris'slady: OK, so clearly this guy knows nothing. I am not sure about the doppler, but swimming is one of the best exercises a PG woman can do - according to every book I read, my doctor, etc. There is a reason why many Prenatal exercise classes are water aerobics - geez! I just swam laps yesterday!
I'm sure you are fine with the doppler too. Wouldn't there be a warning if it were a problem?
Chris'slady

well i read the whole pamphlet there is nothign on it (warning) so i do it every night. Dh jsut got worried and said make sure etc, he said this yesterday and today the guy said i cant swim cause i swam last night for a hour, i told my husband to tell him to mind his business.
Apparently he is one of those people that think they know everything. Dh has never listened to him before i dotn knwo why he did this time. I guess just because its the baby.

Hi Rosa! Thanks for the congrats. :) Yeah, after I researched it a little more, I'm less paranoid about the Splenda. I mean, if the FDA says its okay for pregnant women, it must be okay, right? I posted a link earlier (from the link that Rancid13 posted) if you are interested.
Ericka&Jarrett I remember you as well. :) Congrats on your pregnancy. You must be so excited! I've been rooting for you ever since you lost your sweet girl. Glad to see you are doing well. Thanks for coming in to say hi.
Chris'sLadyThere is no scientific evidence that dopplers are harmful to your baby, same as having an u/s. I had 5 ultrasounds by the time I was 10 weeks and when I aksed about it, they said i could have as many as I wanted. The dopplers are even less to worry about. And the swimming?? This guy is smoking crack. Don't listen to him.
So, I threw up this morning. This would be a total of 5 times this pregnancy. I was sort of surprised to be throwing up at this stage. I think I ate too much yesterday :o and my stomach was having a hard time digesting it all. I had a huge (HUGE) salad at lunch and the pigged out at dinner. My poor digestive system must have been saying SLOW DOWN!!
I really feel like I look pregnant now. I am in full time maternity and my belly is obvious. I still had a pooch from my daughter though, so I know its not all baby. :p Still, you can tell there is a pregnancy belly there too.
Hope you all are having a great day!

I have!! Every time I brush my teeth or even think about brushing my teeth I gag and dry heave. It has resulted in my food coming back up only once though. I hate it!! I thought it was just the mint flavor toothpaste so I had DH get me some cinnamon flavor, and the same thing happened. I also can't chew gum for more than 30 seconds otherwise I feel the gagging sensation starting up.
Rileymom~I started throwing up for the first time as of last Friday. Once on Friday, then 4 times in a row on Monday (all really small amounts~sorry if TMI). And last night I dryheaved/gagged so hard as I was brushing my teeth that the chocolate pudding I had after dinner (only a few spoons full, I swear) came right back out. I thought this vomiting thing was supposed to start early in the pregnancy and peter out by the end of the first trimester, not start as soon as the first trimester has ended?!
Quote: " Sometimes its just a gag, but its enough so that I have to lay down and talk myself out of throwing up."
OMG, that is SO totally me every morning & evening! As soon as I hear the water faucet turn on, even if I'm only washing my hands or face, I have to talk to myself OUT LOUD and tell myself that I'm not brushing my teeth, only washing my face, in order for me not to gag at the sound of the water running.

I have been so lucky with the m/s. If I eat too much or too little I get a little queasy but no gagging or dry-heaving or throwing up. Some mornings I wake up and feel like I have a hangover which is clearly impossible. This morning I woke up to pee at 4 AM and my bbs hurt so bad I hard time falling back to sleep. That's about it. Sorry to those of you having bad m/s.
Rancid13 I am 11 weeks 1 day and noticed that my symptoms (as light as they may be) have gotten worse. Odd isn't it?
Well, tomorrow I actually have to venture out for a business meeting. I have not tried a suit on in a while. In a little bit I'm going to go see if any of them fit. My bella band is not here yet. If they don't I am just going to be a bit casual I guess.

I haven't been here for a few days since I took some time off from work. Thank goodness I did because Friday I had a killer migraine that knocked me out for the day and then Monday I couldn't even keep water down. DH was all set to take me to the ER. I finally got through it all by taking tiny sips of water every few mintues to rehydrate myself. It took me about 2 hours to finish a glass of water but I just kept going all day and felt a little better by Tuesday (meaning I could drink water without vomitting!). Boy, it was rough. Today is a regular day of dry-heaving and full-blown nausea but after the hell I had on Friday and Monday, I feel like this is a piece of cake.
I am going to my doctor on Monday to discuss the possibility of going out on long-term disability. Last time my M/S eased up around 19 weeks, came back at 23 weeks and was on and off until delivery at 37 weeks. It was awful and I totally pushed myself. I'm not going to soldier on through the hell again and I need to see if my doctor will sign me out for so long. There is a very good chance I could lose my job over it (I would go waaaaaaaaaaaay beyond the FMLA allotted time) but at this point, I almost don't care.

I went out to get the mail and my bella band is here. So, I thought I'd try it on with one of my suits and see how it looks. Well, I have a belly to start with (pre-pg size 14) and the bella band makes everything look real smooth just like a pregnant woman. It looks funny and is kind of uncomfortable if I fold it over and it's really comfortable if I don't. I know this is fine, it's ok to look pregnant, I am pregnant. Pardon my rant, I think I m just having one of those "dealing with the changes to my body" moments.

But this morning my female coworker took one look at me and said I was starting to show. !! I looked down at my always-been-poochy belly and touched my lower abdomen. just a fly by post:
Chris'lady Actually the doppler (and ultrasound for that matter) aren't ultraviolet rays, its sound waves. The way these machines work is that they send out sound waves, and then the waves bounce off the baby and come back. And the way they image a baby (ultrasound) is by detecting differences in the intensity of the wave that got sent out and the wave that comes back. The doppler uses the change in frequency to detect the heart rate.
The reason why its called a doppler is because it is named after the "doppler effect" which is what you notice when you're standing still and you hear a police car go by. When the car is coming towards you it has a certain pitch, and then when it goes by you, the car will have a different pitch. This same phenomenon is used in the doppler to hear your baby's heart.
for both the ultrasound and doppler, the machine uses sound waves that are higher than humans can hear, so there is no threat to the baby.
sorry for the nerdiness, (i'm working on a phd in acoustics) but hope that helps!!

Hi girls, I am here too, I am following alone, but my energy level is soooooo low, that I only have enough to read alone. All I want to do and actually do is work and go home and jump on the couch… hope the energy will come back soon.

Hi ladies! I'm thrilled to be joining your group! I'm expecting a Christmas baby. :D
I have a son who is 19 months. This pregnancy has been so different than the last; I've been queasy 24/7 for the last few weeks but it seems to be easing up some. I haven't vomited but there have been many times that I wish I could so that I would feel better. :(

Ladies, before I put up any belly shots on the front page, please tell me if it's okay to put up the specific belly shots that you have posted.

hi ladies!!
Threadmistress - sure, you can put the belly shot that I had up a while back. I have a more recent one, but i haven't uploaded it yet.
So, we had our 12 week appointment yesterday. It was so amazing!! The midwife went through my labs from last time and everything looked great. I have type A blood, which I already knew, and I'm immune to Rubella. (phew!) I have gained 2 pounds since last appointment, and she said, "just be careful not to gain too much. just remember to eat well, especially since you're feeling pretty good." um, ok. I was doing all of that anyways, and is 2 pounds something to be weirded out about? I dunno. She said its normal to gain 10 pounds in the first 20 weeks. Well, we'll see how it goes.
So then she got out the doppler to try to listen to the baby's heart. So she poked and poked and poked. We heard all sorts of noises, but none of them were the heart beating. She said we shouldn't be alarmed because she could hear the baby moving. I would have thought I would have been freaked out that she couldn't find the heart beat, but I wasn't for some strange reason. But, just to be sure we went and had a quick ultrasound done to make sure everything is fine. Well, it was AMAZING!! From the very get go we could see the baby moving around like crazy inside the uterus. The baby was NOT sitting still at all!! We did a few glimses of the heart flutter, so that was reassuring. It was so amazing to see the changes since last time since now we could make out all the limbs and the head. Our midwife said she could even see the fingers, and pointed out where the placenta was. But, the little bug was all over the place. No wonder we couldn't track down the heartbeat, because the baby was a-movin!!! Unfortunately, the baby was moving around so much that we didn't get a good picture (or any picture, for that matter) from the ultrasound. oh well.
I think that I am excited now more than ever. :D
our next midwife appointment is June 29. We're also doing the 1 hour Glucose test then
I'm so sorry to hear that everyone is having trouble with m/s! i hope it gets better for everyone.
welcome to bluebunny!!

You can post my 13 week belly shot.
So it seems that my ms has suddenly let up a LOT. As long as I eat something every once in a while, I am fine. I have gained about 7 pounds already, and I am almost 14 weeks. I don't think that is too much. The doctor did not have any concerns. And I really can't even see the weight gain, except in my waist.

Welcome, bluebunny!! And congratulations!
mandersald~ I wouldn't be too worried about the weight thing. At my 13w appt last Friday I was told I'd gained 1lb since my last appt (I've gained about 2lbs overall) and the nurse and the doctor both said it was completely normal. I think they're more worried about a sudden weight gain, like more than 2lbs a week in between appts. I found out that I have type A blood too, A positive. That's fantastic you got to get an u/s, I won't have mine for another 3 or so weeks.
rosa~Yay for m/s letting up! :)
I had my 12 week appointment today and it was quick. We heard the heartbeat (155) but I couldn't stop giggling so that was screwing up the doppler. I'm still very tired but thankful that I don't have the m/s that has been plaguing a good portion of you. I have gained 8 pounds total thus far. I'm trying very hard to be a good sport about the weight gain.:o My platelet count was a little low so, I have to have more blood taken. My next dr. appointment is 6/30 and the big sonogram is on 7/20. I'm almost positive that we're not going to find out the sex.
I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that our string of good news continues in here!!
Welcome bluebunny!
Hi all! Welcome bluebunny and rileymom! Thanks for the explanation mandersald! I've been out of touch for a week, and it seems like ages. (at least, pages!) We had another u/s yesterday, at 10 weeks. Still two little blobs with two little heartbeats, so I guess we need to really think about how to manage twins! ACK! We have to pick out FOUR NAMES!! LOL It also means I will likely deliver a month to 6 weeks before my due date.
Alas, my spotting seems to have returned. On Wednesday night I had some red bleeding, which let up by morning and was spotting throughout the day. More spotting today. Since this went on for 8 weeks during my first pg, I'm trying not to be too stressed, but I was really glad I had an appt scheduled for Thursday anyway. My doc said nothing at all about it, which I interpreted to mean that either I'm fine or I'm not, but there isn't anything that can be done. In any case, both heartbeats look really strong, which made me feel a lot better. I'm also going to go a level III u/s in two weeks, so we'll see more detail.
I'm still in the throws of m/s as well, but not as bad as some of the other ladies here. I am, however, sick and tired of being sick and tired. And I'd really like the energy to do some more shopping!! My current obsession is finding a pair of linen drawstring pants that I can wear pp as well. weirdly, I apparently haven't gained any weight, but I'm clearly pg. Must all be redistributed front and center. My doc wants me to add some Ensure or something every day, but honestly sweet things make the nausea worse. Sad - shouldn't I be able to eat pints of ice cream??!!
Kimmer

AmyE - that is awesome four names! The joy of twins :)
I am the same here I don't have the MS but certain things like ice cream and sweet stuff makes my mouth taste terrible blech... I was so excited to eat pints of yummy ice cream all summer. I hope this feeling passes. DH says maybe the baby doesn't like sweet stuff...oh the horror. :P
Rancid13
06-02-2006, 04:13 PM
sweet stuff~Prepregnancy I had a major sweet tooth, eating everything from jello and puddings to candy and baked goods. Anything with too much sugar in it was welcomed by me. So far being pg, my body has wanted very little, if nothing, to do with sweet foods and snacks. I'll maybe have a chocolate bar every 3 weeks, or a couple mini-peanut butter cups then that's it. Maybe that's good though, my body does enjoy getting a little extra fruit here and there instead (berries, oranges, bananas). :)

Whoa, Rancid, only TWO POUNDS. That is amazing. I've gained 8. I feel like a hefer. But I have only gained two pounds since my appointment 3 weeks ago.
How do you all have so many appts? My GYN only sees me once a month. I feel like I have to wait forever for my next appt on 6/20.
CVS update: All went well, but I don't get my results until Monday. This is a week later than I should have because the lab was so backed up that they decided not to do preliminary culture tests and are only doing final tests. I'm a little unnerved because I thought I would have known everything on Wednesday and now have to wait an entire weekend to find out!!! ARGH!
Gagging_--yep, the brushing of the teeth causes me to gag and dry heave occasionally. I find that if I put less toothpaste on the brush, it helps a lot.
Everyone have a great weekend! I hope to come back with a belly shot on Monday.

Rileymom Welcome!
Chris'sLady Fetal Doppler Facts (http://www.fetaldopplerfacts.org/?c1=ppc&source=sr&kw=emailconf) is a good website to find info about dopplers.
katmg I have had a hard time in the mornings too, I have started to keep crackers by my bed and eat one duringt he night seems to have helped my morning trip to the bathroom.
sophiadp Oh my! What an ordeal.
bluebunny Welcome!
Yay for good appointments
I finally got to hear the baby's heartbeat on the doppler we rented. It is so nice having the reassurance between appointments. I have been having lost of m/s, gagging, throw up you name it and excessive gas! I am wondering if that could be partly because I don't have my gallbladder this pregnancy. I had to get it out after DD was born because of gallstones.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
Can't remember if I posted this or not my appointment is June 13th.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I want to start off by saying that I am terrible at shout-outs but I'll do my best!
sweet tooth:I lost my sweet tooth last pregnancy until the end of the third trimester. Then I started eating ice cream for dessert every night! :o This pregnancy, so far, is the same. I don't have much interest in sweet stuff, except naturally sweeet things like fruit. I hope it will help me with the weight gain in the long run. :)
weight gain: I don't know how much I've gained so far as I don't own a scale and my first official doctor's appointment is not for another two weeks. I had an u/s to date the pregnancy and an appointment with the nurse to discuss family history but haven't seen the doctor, yet. I expect once that happens, I'll be able to keep up with my weight gain from appointment to appointment. I know I've already gained a few pounds, at least, though.
ROs: Anyone already showing? I swear my belly popped out the week after my BFP. :(
Kimmer
06-05-2006, 09:22 AM
Carissa- Thanks I will take a look at them.
Bluebunny- I swear I popped during my first week. I ask my doc and about my poofy tummy and she said it is my intestines and digestive track all bulged out. She said once that goes down I will be showing from the baby. I am like ok great pretty much the poof is here to stay until it turns into "official" baby belly. :)

Whoa, Rancid, only TWO POUNDS. That is amazing. I've gained 8. I feel like a hefer. But I have only gained two pounds since my appointment 3 weeks ago.
Yeah, actually over the weekend DH recalibrated our scale~beginning just recently when no one/nothing was on it, the needle was hovering above the 2-3lb range. When I stepped back on it post-calibration and it showed my weight right at 135, where it was pre-preg in the early am when the needle was still correctly hovering over the 0, rather than 137 I was weighing before he 'fixed' the scale. So now I really have no idea how much I've gained. I'm sticking with 2 lbs until dr says otherwise I guess. :) I guess it's because I haven't had much of an appetite. And now that I've started the 2nd tri, m/s has hit me with a vengeance. I don't see me gaining much more until I can actually keep a meal down for more than a couple hours at a time. :(
How do you all have so many appts? My GYN only sees me once a month. I feel like I have to wait forever for my next appt on 6/20.
I only have my appts once a month, or to be more precise, every 4 weeks. In between obgyn appts I have to go elsewhere for blood to be taken for labwork, and to an u/s lab. But that's it for me...

Hi everyone! Hope everyone had a nice weekend. :)
First, welcome Bluebunny! and Congratulations! I am a newbie to the thread myself, since I was too chicken to join early. Happy and healthy 6-7 more months to you!!
Sweets Now that you all mention it, I really couldn't care less about sweets either. However, early on, when m/s was a factor, a muffin or a donut could sure ease the queezies. (as could a McD's egg mcmuffin!!) But chocolate or candy bars doesn't do anything for me. I do eat more fruit than I used to, but I don't really crave it. I just make more of an effort to eat it, I think. I seem to be craving protein this pregnancy (the aforementioned mcmuffin, (;) )cheese, hamburgers, steak, chicken.) Well, at least the chicken is healthy. :p
Weight gain: I'm really not sure. I have never owned a scale, but I'm guessing I have gained a good 5 lbs if not more.
appointments Early on, I had a lot of u/s's but they really weren't appointments. The only person I saw was an u/s tech. Now that I am with my OB, she sees me every 4 weeks. Its driving me nuts, because from weeks 6-10, I had an u/s every week. Waiting 4 weeks seems like forever!!
Okay, so suddenly I don't feel pregnant anymore. What is up? My m/s is disappearing, and my bbs don't feel as sore/big. I am 13 weeks on Wednesday so I am sure the vanishing symptoms is probably right on schedule but it is unnerving. I am so tempted to rent a doppler, but on the other hand, I really can't afford it right now. Ugh. I want my symptoms back!!
Kimmer
06-05-2006, 01:10 PM
Riley Mom - I am also starting to feel "good" I think I have the "vanishing symptoms" as well. It is making me a little nervous. My next appt isn't until 6/21 and that feels so far away.

appointments I am usually seen ever 3 weeks. However because my Dr is out of town this week I have to wait 4.
rosa727
06-05-2006, 02:38 PM
appointments: I am only seen every 4 weeks. I am in my 15th week and have only seen the doctor twice and had one u/s. My next is in about 3 weeks.
My BBs have not hurt in a long time, and I have read it is normal for them to stop hurting but continue to grow. I am very happy about that!
My major symptom/complaint now is that I feel like I have to eat CONSTANTLY to keep from feeling nauseous. It is getting ridiculous. I eat a bowl of cereal before bed and still wake up in the middle of the night starving and nauseous. What the heck can I do? Anyone else feel like this?

Kimmer Glad I'm not alone! (although it sucks.)
Well, I called my OB's office and spoke to a nurse and told her I was sort of worried about my lack of symptoms. She, of course, told me that at almost 13 weeks its perfectly normal to "lose" symptoms and many, many women stop "feeling" pregnant at this point. But, she also added that if I would like to ease my mind to come in for a heartbeat check. :)
Can I say that my OB's office rocks? So, I went in and sure enough heart was beating away. It took her a couple of minutes (which seemed like HOURS) but it was there. She then offered to give me a quick u/s which of course I could not refuse. (They don't have u/s technicians, the OB's do all the u/s, except for level II u/s which they schedule someplace else.) So I got my first abdominal u/s (the one across the belly!) Baby's heart was flickering away, but the little bugger looked as if he/she may be asleep. :( So I didn't get to see much movement. OB wasn't worried at all, said the heart was flickering away and that I was measuring well too - 12 weeks 4 days which is pretty much right on. She told me that babies often sleep for 20 minutes or so at a stretch and he/she was just taking a nap. :) Heart flickering was all I really cared about anyway. I apologized for being such a pain, but she told me to come in anytime I am feeling anxious. Gotta love that customer service! Tee-hee.
I forgot to answer Bluebunny's question for RO's. Yes, I started showing earlier - like 8 weeks. I was in maternity full time by 10 weeks. Yikes! Funny story, we planned on telling our families at 10.5 weeks, but before we could even announce it everyone guessed!!!  So much for our big announcement. With DD, I wasn't in full time maternity until like 15-16 weeks.

It has been a crazy few weeks for us so I havent been on CC much. Glad to see everyone is doing fairly well(with the exception of m/s). I will hopefully be around a little more often the next few weeks.
Welcome Mobox, Rileymom, and BlueBunny!
Belly I started to feel a difference a few weeks ago but feel like I popped this last week. Dh loked at me one evening with a fitted shirt on and said, "Where did that come from?". LOL! People at work are all commenting on my baby bump today. I am wearing my first real maternity shirt today with a tie around the middle. It emphasizes the bump a bit. I am having a hard time with my regular shirts fitting. They are all getting to tight around and to short. I am loving the GAP maternity anytime tees. I may give into some of my maternity pants this week as well. I am pushing my regular work pants down and they arent working very well. Jeans are still ok since the are fairly low rise.
Husband He has been great. Very supportive! Now that I am starting to show he is rubbing my belly more. He keeps making comments about how much he wants this baby and how he wishes it would get hear sooner.
Gender We will find out the gender. I am hoping to schedule the big US at my appt next week. Hopefully only 6more weeks from now. Dh is so excited to know. I hope our little one cooperates.
Father's Day Dh gave me a very sweet card for Mother's Day. I will probably do that and maybe a small gift.
M/S I had though that my m/s was tapering off but 2x this week it has hit my hard. I have been dealing with dry heaves more this week and actually threw up for the first time. Still holding out hope that the next week will bring a break in symptoms.
Sweets I was a major dessert/chocolate lover before PG. Now it doesnt sound or taste good. I do have some real fruit popscicles in the freezer but I havent broken into even those yet. I have had ice cream a few times but it just isnt that same.
Appts We had our first appt and then an US a few weeks later to determine the due date. Now it is every 4-6weeks. They wanted 6 but the MW wasnt available so it is actually 4. I was very glad for that. We are hoping to hear the HB at this next appt Moday 6/12

First, my excellent news that all of my CVS test results came back HEALTHY!!! And I am having a....
BOY!!!
My lower abdomen feels kind of hard and heavy if that makes any sense.
I feel the same exact way. It feels like someone shoved a ball in there, it's so hard.
I also have to eat all the time. I get hungry about every one and half hours. I tend to just eat something small like a yougurt or a piece of fruit, cottage cheese, or crackers and cheese then I eat a small lunch and dinner and cereal in the morning. It's so frustrating feeling nauseous because I don't want to keep eating...I'm not use to eating so much and I feel like I'm gaining tons of weight. I've gained 9 pounds as of Monday, which I guess isn't toooo bad but still....

mobox - Congratulations on a healthy report and that your having a little boy. I can tell you little boys are just wonderful (I have 2 beautiful sons!). Great news!
appointments - I will be going every 4 weeks.
My m/s has still been really bad. Sunday I was feeling so sick I just stayed in bed pretty much the entire day while DH watched our boys all day. Sometimes I am lucky to feel a little better for a few hours during the day but then I feel really sick again. I hate this because I feel like I am hardly able to take care of and play with my boys. Also, if they hear me throwing up, they get upset and my one son cries. It is very sweet but makes me feel terrible. I am 11 weeks now so I hope in the next week or two my symptoms will let up. Last time it was worse and lasted to 15 weeks but I was also having twins and this time is one. I am keeping my fingers crossed......

mobox - Congrats on finding out it's a boy!!! I can't wait to find out.
Good Morning all.
Congrats to mobox on your baby boy!
I told eveyone at work yesteday and I feel like a huge weight has been lifted. I work with mostly men so, their questions were um, invasive. My favorites were: how long did it take (does that include the wine and candles before hand or just the "deed" :p ) and was it an accident (oh, yes, I forgot how that works and oops.) My job is interesting.
For all of you looking to avoid maternity stores for just a little longer (I have no idea why everything is so much more expensive when they add a few inches of elastic), the Gap had some great linen items on sale and cute skirts with 4 inches of elastic at the waist that work well with our new bellies.

For those of you STILL having m/s at 11 or 12 weeks, there is definitely hope. I FINALLY feel totally over my m/s. It did not happen until about 13 1/2 weeks. I seriously thought it was going to last forever when I was reading in books that it should probably be over by 12 weeks. But it ended!

Mine just started, 2 weeks ago this Friday. No m/s to speak of until I crossed the 13w threshold then BAM! It hit me. Since then, it's been sort of an every-other-day type of thing. I think my body's trying to piss me off...

Thanks, rosa and pacificbliss! It's been a tough couple of weeks. Now I completely understand what most everyone has been going thru since the beginning. Hopefully it won't stick around long. I thought I was getting off so easy once I reached the 13w mark, then at 13w1d I was in the office bathroom puking up my breakfast. Bleh!! Ah, well. I'll get thru it...:)

DH came home early from work the other day with a bug. He had been vomitting and dry heaving at the office (which is just a standard day for ME!). After finally settling down a bit he said "Wow, now I have an idea of what you go through." I said "Yeah, now imagine having that everyday." He said "Well, I think mine is much worse than yours." Whatever. He's such a baby.

The baby looks good, he/she is measuring right around 12 weeks and is just swimming around in there kicking away. The hb is 165 bpm, phew! That's fast.
This is such a relief :D
Congrats mobox! Pacificbliss - glad to hear you heard everything! Rosa - oooh, I'm jealous. I hope this m/s disappears soon.
A delayed response to the RO question: I'm showing about a month ahead of where I did last round. I just went to target and bought two pairs of drawstring pants. Luck for us, fashion seems to favor slightly baggy pants and empire waists this summer! I'm in that uncomfortable spot of not fitting into most of my regular clothes but not big enough for my maternity stuff yet. Sigh. And the maternity pants I bought for summer need to be hemmed before I can wear them - need to get on that.
My next appt is next week - the Level II u/s. I can't wait. I'd love to find out the gender of these babies, but I think it will be too early, even with a clearer picture.
In better news, we managed to sell our house - closed last week. We're in temporary housing at the moment, preparing to move in July. I actually got a couple of recommendations for OBs in our new area, which is great. I should be able to set up some appointments for August that way. Yeah. It will be nice to be settled and ready to get ready for our new arrivals!
Anyone else working on names yet? DH and I talk about it occasionally, but I guess it still seems far away.

Congratulations mobox! This is probably a dumb question, but how the heck did you find out so early? I am SO impatient to find out what we are having, and I have ot wait so long still! Anyway, I am happy to hear everything looks good.
Because I am 36 I had the choice of a CVS or an amnio. We wanted to know the health concerns early, so we went with CVS. Due to the genetic testing they know what you are having and are more than happy to tell you.
I tell my entire department which (aside from me) works in our NY office next week. We are all going to Florida for a big meeting. I think they'll be able to tell right away because I'm showing!

We are working on it. Dh and I don't exactly see eye to eye on names he likes traditional and I like unique.

That's great news to hear, pacificbliss!!
Anyone else working on names yet?Just some preliminary work I guess. I've been compiling a list over the last couple years of names that appeal to me and have been adding to and deleting from it as time has gone on.
Hubby knows my favorite names and good for me he likes them too (for a boy: Dylan, Brandon, Nathan/Nathaniel and Zach/Zachary are my faves so far; for a girl-the list is MUCH longer: Natalie, Jessica, Summer, Isabelle, Ashley, Sarah, Stephanie, Sabrina, Genevieve, April to name a few).
We know for sure that our child will have a Hawaiian middle name, just like DH does. His dad is Hawaiian, so we both agreed that it's a neat way to pass along a tradition thru the family. :)

NAMES: we have our names picked out for years now, so we have both names ready, one for girl, one for boy.
On the other note, today is my first day in maternity pants! I woke up today and just could not be comfortable in my regular pants, so I pulled out maternity, they are so big, but I feel so good in them. Of cause right the way I jumped on the scale, and I did not gain one pound yet, but my waist line is gone, that is why my old pants are so uncomfortable.
I put them on and Steve is all like: “they big on you!” I told him to shut it, it is too comfortable. So now I am sitting at work and making sure no one sees the waist line band, or they will know right the way ;)
I am better, I only get M/S at nights now, around dinner time, so I can eat all day, but as soon as night comes, I cannot stand to smell food. I make Steve BBQ more and more now day ;)

I am way behind here since I was out of town for a bit. Belated welcome and congratulations to Mobox and Rileysmom! :)
I had my nuchal scan test today, part of which is a level II u/s. All looked great. I was so, so happy to see the baby again and to see its little heart pumping away. It was waving its arms around and sucking its thumb. So cute! The u/s tech was a sweetheart. Even though she technically isn't supposed to tell me whether things are normal or not (they leave that to the doctor to write up a report, which I'll get at my OB visit on Monday), she let me know that everything looked great. I was so relieved.
I caught a horrible flu/cold on my trip, so I have been feeling pretty miserable with that on top of my usual m/s. I hope this all passes soon. I have a definite pooch--much bigger than I was at this point with my previous pg. Still not in maternity clothes, but in a week or two, I may have to get them down from our attic. Thankfully, most of my pants are not high-waisted, so my pooch can just hang out over the waist band.
Names: I don't think we'll discuss this too much until we have our big u/s and hopefully find out the gender. With my DD we didn't have a name picked out until the very end of my pregnancy.

It is still yak-central over here. Yesterday was awful actually - night time is the worst time for me - nothing like dry-heaving right before you go to sleep.
Names - I have some favorites in mind, but haven't sat down and made a list yet.
DH is getting anxious about getting everything in the house cleaned out. He has decided that this weekend we're going through all the "stuff" that we've put in the future-nursery and cleaning it out. I think he's starting to feel like this is actually happening and that we need to be prepared. I still haven't totally gotten it through my head that we're actually going to have a baby in about 6 months. I keep waiting for something to happen. Hopefully after my u/s on Monday, I'll feel better.

I forgot to mention this but at the Dr appt yesterday I jumped on the scale and have gained 0 lbs, yep 0. How is this possible? All I do is eat. So, Veeka I guess we are in the same boat as I only wear elastic now and need to go shopping for some maternity clothes.
names here I am in the same boat as Carissa, I like unique names, DH wants traditional. He vetoes all my names. We need to get serious about this and soon or we will be one of those couple in the hospital staring at the child and whispering, "tell me your name".

BWAAAH! You mean, that doesn't work? Baby doesn't come with one of those "Hello, my name is_______ " already filled out? Bummer...

I hear you sister, but i am still thinking maybe tomorrow i will wake up and i can wear my regular pants again?! ;) This pregnancy has to many shockers for me, that i would not be surprised if I really could wear regular pants tomorrow ;)
So do we share names we picked? Or is it a secret? Should I share?

I shared mine...I don't feel the need to keep my (mile long) list of names secret. If someone doesn't like some or any of them, it's not my problem. I don't even know how I'm gonna narrow it down to just 1 name~there are at least 20 names that I really like that are on the girl name list alone!:D

names: We're so far from choosing a name, it's not funny. We're not even on the same page with names. I have a list but DH won't get serious about narrowing it down, yet.
Veeka, do share!!

names: I have no idea DH will not talk seriously about it. Right now he keeps calling the baby "Poppy Hunny" or "Pilot Inspector", we watched that thing on E! about strange celebrity baby names. But hee hee Poppy Hunny is growing on me :p

Weight: For me, the weight thing is weird. I gained about 6 pounds in what seemed like a short time (probably by about 11 weeks). And I have gained maybe one pound in the last 4 weeks (I go back and forth). So I guess people just gain at different times. The weird thing for me is, while I cannot wear a lot of my smaller regular clothes (things that are supposed to be more fitted), I cannot SEE the weight gain. I guess it is all in my belly and BBs. I was so afraid my face would get fat (or my butt) but not so far.
Names: Since we are going to find out the sex, we will probably not worry abotu definitively picking a name until then. DH and I have the same taste in everything (including names), so it will be relatively easy. We have a list of both boy and girl names we like. He is a little harder to plese with boy names, but I don't think it will be too bad.
Well I am off for a weekend of camping and hiking. I am so happy to finally feel good enough to get some real exercise! Have a great weekend everyone!

names - We are in the same boat as Carissa and pacificbliss. For example, with girls names Shawn likes names like Ann and Brook, I like names like Anika and Talia. I'm sure it will become clear in time.
I have been DRAGGED OUT with a cold/flu thing since last Friday, which sucks (especially w/o decongestants) but on the upside, m/s is MUCH LESS.
Oh, and I had my first midwife appointment on Tuesday, which was more of a meet and greet than an appointment and it was really great. I really like my midwife and the whole philosophy of midwifery. The only thing I didn't like is how you say "Midwifery" (mid-whiff-ery). It's a weird sounding word, don't you think? In my head, I always say it mid-wife-ery.
My next appointment is July 4th.

Here are the names we picked:
Nadia and Anthony, middle names will be after my husband, Steven, it is Russian tradition to give your children their father’s first name as child’s middle name, so full names will be:
Nadia Steven F….
Anthony Steven F….
Steve says that Nadia Steven sounds funny, but I do not think so, I like it a lot, I am walking around with my father’s first name, I am Viktoriya Arkady F…..

I have some name ideas but I have not run them by DH yet. I am sure he will veto them. The first thing I do with any name I like is run it through the baby name wizard site.
http://babynamewizard.com/namevoyager/lnv0105.html
This site is addictive. If the name is becoming too popular I rule it out. I have kind of an earthy nature name and I would like to continue with that. DH says maybe for a middle name and only if it's a girl. He says those names are cute for girls but not for boys  This is why we have to start now even though we will be finding out the gender in August.

Hahaha! Some of those celebrity baby names, I swear!! Moxie Crimefighter sounds like a superhero name...was that what the Penn & Teller dude named his daughter?? And Pilot Inspektor brings to mind the old Saturday morning cartoon Inspector Gadget. Don't these people have dogs or cats that they can give odd names to, so they don't have to name their children these names??
Weight~I think it differs with everyone, and probably with every pregnancy too. I've gained a whopping 2 lbs thus far. I'm afraid of what my future holds because it seems that this week, I've also gained my appetite back and haven't vomited since Monday morning (knock on wood), so hopefully my 2-week long bout with latecoming m/s is over. I've been snacking almost all day every day and am constantly hungry, or so it seems. And I've been trying to do healthy snacks too, instead of my usual junk food.
Midwifery~Allison, I've always pronounced it the same way you do and was surprised to hear it pronounced mid-whiff-ery when I started seeing a new gyno a few years back who operated out of a midwifery office.

Wha wha what??? Who the heck named their child that? And what kind of drugs were they on?
Names I like: Joshua, Connor, Brenden, Hayden, Lucas. But Dave and I haven't really discussed names to any degree yet, although I suppose we should now that we know it's a BOY.

Pulling us up from page 2!!!
Hope you all are doing well. Not much to update, m/s seems to be getting better although I still have little gag fests here and there. I did puke on Friday morning
