Veeka Tell your Dh he is lucky you only go to bed at 10pm. I am lucky to make it past 830 or 9 lately. :rolleyes:
Also, We told people the day we found out. My IL's were in town and it just worked out. They all knew we had been trying for 18months and were all excited to celebrate with us. I figure if something horrible happens then we will have a ton of support. That is just me though.

mandersald I am not a runner. This would have been a first time thing for me. DH and I have been doing a training thing that's for first timers. I was a regular excerciser, just not a runner so I get really winded and my heart races during the training runs. Plus it's not just a 10K but has a wall to climb and mud and a river to cross. I've just gone back to excercise that isn't so taxing for me. For runners I think it's ok to keep running.
TMI alert
I am 6 weeks 2 days and today I have a lot of mucus. Did any one else get that? Ick

So things are better here. My spotting is still going on, but it is very minimal. Less than the last day of my period. I haven't passed enough of anything to have miscarried. Yesterday the rest of my preggo sysmptoms came back. Boobs are real sore and I was pretty nausous.
I am switching Dr.'s offices after this ordeal. I have a new appointment for the 16th. I was excited to have a midwife, but thier handleing of me the last couple of weeks did not instill any confidence. She was fine with telling me over the phone that I would probably miscarry. She never physically examined me even though we were both in the office at the same time. In fact I never even met with her. So... Dh's boss's wife just had their second child and I asked who she went to. They were very happy with them.

Giry76 glad to hear you are doing better.
I need to update my due date. I had my first ultrasound appt. and they pushed my due date to the 20th of December. I was not to pleased about that though. My b-day is the 24th of December and as a kid I always hated having that day as my b-day. I always had to have my b-day party with my friends 2 weeks before the actual date because of the holidays. Oh well.

hi everyone, sorry haven't been around for a few days was having problems with computer. just wanted to stop and say hi . I have been having lots of cramps here and there, it drives me nuts because I don't know which ones are normal to have and which ones are not. well I guess I find out at the end of this month. I try not to worry because if there is a problem then I will know soon enough and there is nothing they can do about it so I just sit and wait and try to think positive.
Giry76: I am so glad you are doing better .

pacificbliss i completely understand about the race. a wall to climb and mud? wow, that sounds interesting. :rolleyes: I'm anxious to hear what my midwife tells me about exercise...and also, i've had quite a bit of creamy to watery CM too. I've heard that's completely normal.
giry glad you're feeling better. and good for you for changing doctors. i think having a doc that you really feel comfy with is important. let us know how you like your new office.
da1sy i was actually kinda nervous to have a due date in december for that very same reason. Also, both sides of our family are scattered throughout the country, and we always travel for the holidays. i was really nervous about what was going to happen this year since we won't be traveling at all. my family already has plans to come here for christmas...but its going to be a huge change, ya know? yay for your ultrasound!!
purplesunshine i also have cramping too. i mentioned it to the nurse at my appt this week, but she didn't think it would be cause for concern.
my nurse appt this past week was very anticlimatic. just lots of questions about family history, and lots of things to sign and information i already knew. oh well, we have our first ultrasound on thursday this week! horray! can't wait to see our little bug!!

Purplesunshine - I hear ya. I've been having some cramping too...nothing heavy just slight sensations. However, today I had some brown spotting so I will be calling the doctor tomorrow. Sort of nervous but just trying to stay positive.
Mandersald - Good luck with the U/S!! How amazing.

I'm leaving for a doctor's appointment in about 10 minutes. I dry heaved last night and am still very moody and emotional so something still has to be there to have me feeling so weird. However, it will be very interesting to see whatever there is to see at 6 weeks. I'm guessing a smudge. :p
Checking in to see how everyone is doing...looks like so far, so good :)
sophia...good luck today!
The highlights of my pg trials and tribulations include: almost walking out of Target w/o paying for the fabric softener on the bottom of my cart, my porn star nipples (they are pointy all of the time), and the burnt sienna spotting that came after we DTD. After the initial spotting incident after DTD two weeks ago, we waited per the doctor’s orders. I have an appointment on Thursday so, I’ll just wait until then to talk to them about it. This only happens after we BD so, no BD means no spotting...so frustrating. I did walk into baby gap over the weekend to check out the maternity sale. I just couldn’t bring myself to really look at anything. However, if I keep up the pace of eatting I have been at, I will need those clothes too soon! I’m always hungry and I start to feel sort of sick if I get too hungry.
Anyone else obsessed with what they are going to look like soon? I weighed myself at the grocery store and it said 159.5...I’m usually 157 so, I’m not sure if the scale was off or if I’m really gaining weight. I’m 6 feet tall with a long torso so, my friend keeps telling me that I’m going to look like I have a basketball stuck in my shirt.

I am definitely obsessing over the weight gain and what I am going to look like. At 9 weeks, 2 days, I have gained about 4 pounds. I started out underweight, so I guess I need to gain more, but that still seems like a lot! But like many of you, the only time I feel sick is if I have an empty stomach, so I try to stay pretty full. Many of my jeans already feel tight, and I have some early maternity jeans I will probably start wearing soon. I definitely need to go shopping for more.
I am SO looking forward to my U/S on Wednesday - should be a lot to see by then - I feel like I have waited SO long to finally see the doctor!
Good luck sophia!

I am delighted to post that my m/c was a false alarm. Although I had fairly heavy bleeding last week, the US showed a perfectly formed wee one with a strong heartbeat--I am so happy to be able to rejoin this group--new due date, 12/17/06.

Woah, Nicole! Thast's excellent! And you saw the heartbeat to boot. Wonderful news. Glad to have you back! :D
LadyD, hope everything is okay.
My U/S showed very little except the afore mentioned smudge. The first time I had an U/S with my first pregnancy, I couldn't see a thing and was pretty sure that what the doctor pointed out on the screen was a smudge on the equipment. This time, I didn't even need the doctor to point it out. I spotted the smudge myself! ~patting self on back~ :D
M/S is coming on with a vengeance. I dry heaved last night when DH heated up some barbequed beef for dinner and had to control two dry heaves on the subway today coming back from the doctor. Ah, yes, the fun has begun!
Threadmistress - Can you take my stats down please. Thank you.

msnicolea Welcome back! You must have been so excited.
Good luck to everyone at the Dr. today. I have an apointment tomorrow but I think it's just for bloodwork and family history stuff. Babyzone has me listed as 6 weeks 5 days. I jut went to the library anc checked out 4 :D different pregnancy books. I want to figure out which pg and early childcare books I most agree with before I buy anything.
I have not gained any weight so far but I am obesessing a bit. I am overweight to start so I know I don't need to gain much. It seems like a good opportunity to "use" some of the excess weight while my metabolism is running faster but I don't want to diet, kwim? Also, I have always been one of those people who sort of sucked in my belly so I feel like I am going to "show" almost immediately :)

05-01-2006, 03:57 PM
I haven't gained weight but my stomach is bloated and everything feels tight--I purchased some non maternity jersey knits today-I've been wearing the same 5 things for two weeks now!
I'm having difficulty relaxing and enjoying the moments--I am trying really hard too but I am so afraid of having another m/c that I'm really stressed out. How do those of you who are pregnant after a loss cope? I want to celebrate this pregnancy and enjoy it--but I am sometimes overwhlemed with fear.

msnicolea I am not dealing with the pg after a m/c thing very well at all. I m/c at 8 weeks and I keep telling myself that if I can just see the heartbeat I will relax. I hope that I can. Just like you I want to celebrate and enjoy it. I hope that will be possible.

ag05 - I am so sorry, after my recent miscarriage I know how upsetting one can be. I wish you the best of luck in teh future.
I am so sorry that I dropped out for a while, last week we took my 2.5 year DD to disneyworld with my parents. We had a great time but between catching up and work I have been swamped. My morning sickness really set in this weekend and between the constant nasuea and my really bad allergy's I am wiped.
i actually stayed home from work today while my mom watched my DD to lay down. I thre up alot with my DD and fotgot how bad this feeling is. We have our first ultrasound tommorrow so I am hoping everything goes well.

ag05 and LadyD088, I am very sorry for you.
Welcome, Sandy!
I still feel nauseous and somehow this only stops when I eat. Apart from that I feel the need to eat since I don´t smoke anymore. So I have already gained 3lbs. I´m looking forward to warmer weather when I can wear a comfy dress or skirt. My jeans already feel rather tight and I´ve started to look for maternity outfits on Ebay. I guess in 2-3 weeks I´ll need them. The obgyn said that my uterus had already stretched a lot one week ago and I guess it still stretches more than necessary. At least it feels and looks this way. :rolleyes:
Apart from that I feel rather good but I´m on an emotional rollercoaster. I am so emotional, I could cry every time they play "Because of you" on the radio... :o

Welcome Sandy. What a fun way to end 2006!
msnicolea and katmg-Take everyday of your pregnancy as a gift and enjoy it. There isn't much you can do to prevent a loss (well, I would recommend staying away from bungee jumping) so you just take it one day at a time. Easier said than done, I know, but that's the best piece of advice I can give you.
M/S is starting to come on strong. I threw up last night as well as a little bit this morning. One thing that I remembered from last time was that a bagel with cream cheese usually calms my stomach. It sounds so unappetizing when I get it but I always feel a lot better after I've eaten it.

msnicolea good to see you back!
Well we got back from Scottsdale, we had a great time. I even got a massage at the spa and it felt great! I had a bit of a scare though, on Wenesday when we arrived I started bleeding but it soon stopped. I haven't seen any blood since. You can already tell I am pregnant. I can't imagine how huge I will be in my last month.
bellabonga I am very emotional too.
Oh, I have also had the WORST allergies ever! It started in Arizona and hasn't left yet. I feel so horrible. I hope I don't have them the whole pregnancy.

And I think I got my first M/S today. Not sure if it is staying late last night and not getting my rest, or taking shower in the morning, I usually do it at night. But as soon as I got out of the shower I had to go lay down in cold sweat. Steve woke up and saw my white face and freak out. We got me some cereal in bed and I think it helped. Our first, I am sure it is not the last morning late to work ;) But I got to work and sitting here and everything is fine.

I am so sorry to hear about so much bad news around here. I do have some good news. I had my u/s yesterday and it was really great. I had to wait so long (10 weeks) but it was SO worth it because I saw a lot. Here is my cross-post from my journal:
My appointment was AMAZING!!!!! First of all, every single little thing was perfect - all of my blood work came back perfect, baby is the perfect size for the age (so my due date stays December 3). It was all so amazing! I loved the doctor - she was very friendly yet laid back and mellow. It was so great to have DH there, and the ultrasound was WAY WAY WAY better than I thought it would be. So many people say that they cannot make out what they are looking at and it just looks like a blob (especially this early). I don't know why, but that was totally NOT the case. Everything was so clear - head, little arms, legs, umbilical cord. The doctor and nurse were even so excited - I guess they never get used to doing this So the best part was, after they moved around the wand (it was an internal u/s) to see my ovaries, and went back to the baby, the baby was all squirming around. The heartbeat was also very obvious. It was all so, so cute! So the doctor let us look for what seemed like a really long time, which was great. Then she took a bunch of pictures and gave us some. I will be scanning them, but I have to go to Kinkos to do it. They are pretty clear, but not as good as what it looked like on the monitor.
DH was great too - very excited. But he was so cute because after he was all concerned that the wand was hurting me. He was like "didn't that hurt with her poking around in there?" Both of us have had huge smiles on our faces since the appointment. It was really so much better than either of us expected. It was truly magical. I will never forget this as long as I live. It has made me even so much more excited about this pregnancy. It seems so much more real. I want to go see the baby every day now :D
I'll come back with the u/s of the little blob!

Rosa-Yeah, it is pretty cool, huh? It's still so bizarre to look at an U/S and know that what is on the screen is in YOU! Trying to explain it to DH, I likened it to watching the Super Bowl on tv and the announcer says "That's going on in your belly." LOL. It honestly is surreal especially when you can't feel any movement yet. You watch the kid flip, loop and do karate kicks and yet you can't feel it until about 20 weeks. It's like a private party that you are hosting but you can't interact with the guest of honor. :p
giry76
05-04-2006, 10:22 AM
Thanks for all the kind words ladies. I am relieved to at least know what is going on. They were worried that it was an ectopic pregnancy, but after a lot of digging around they found the sac on the very edge of the uterus.
I will probably lurk around with you.

giry--I am so sorry but am glad that at least you have answers and can start to heal. Take care of yourself.
{{Big Hugs}} to all of the ladies who are going through rough times. Please feel free to vent at will. This is a great support group.
I do have more good news. I had my u/s this morning and all seems to be well. We saw the bean and it's little heartbeat (which was beating so quickly.) The size of the bean put my due date at a week earlier but the doctor said that he's not going to change it officially until the next u/s.
I have had the transvaginal u/s done before (I had a demoid cyst removed...aka alien baby...it's a cyst with hair and teeth) so I knew what to expect. The doctor saw a cyst on my left ovary but I'm not going to fret over it. If they have to remove it, so be it, I've done it before.
The whole u/s experience is surreal. We are all so visual that it's hard to believe that anything is there until you can see it and then bam...bean on the screen.
I'm crossing my fingers that this group is heading for more good news!:D

rosa Congrats on your healthy little one. You have made me so excited for my US next week.
fms Glad everything went well for your US as well.
We had our prenatal class last night. It was about an hour long and done by one of the nurses. It wasnt anything I didnt know. What to avoid and what our dr's office offers for classes, dr's, and delivery options. It was good for Dh to see that I really do know what i am talking about. LOL!:p
We are very excited to see our little one next week. Counting down the days.

oh giry, i'm so sorry! at least there is closure. and, please, lurk any time!! :)
well, i have some more good news. phew! i also had my first u/s this morning too!!! it was amazing! i was so nervous going in, but it all looks great so far. we got to see the tiny tiny flutter of the heart, but i admit the baby was quite fuzzy. it was an external u/s, so that's probably why. the baby was measuring 18-20 mm, so that keeps my due date right on. we were so excited!! dh was pretty quiet through the whole thing, but was so cute on the way back from the office as he was thinking about our little bug inside me. :D
rosa those are great pics!! mine isn't nearly as nice. i'm gonna scan it tonight.
fms yay for some good news from you too!! horray!! beans on screens everywhere!

I had a demoid cyst removed...aka alien baby...it's a cyst with hair and teeth
Yup, I had one of those too. I called it a "Furby". Pretty nasty.
Congrats on seeing the baby's heartbeat.
Oooo Mandersald Congrats on your U/S as well. Isn't the little fluttering heartbeat amazing? Congrats to you.

Yay for the ultrasounds! Rosa that does not look like a blob at all but an actual baby.
I am a little jealous...on Tuesday I asked if I could get an early u/s since I had a m/c and they said no. They only do the 20 week. The nurse said she is sure everything is fine that first pregnancy miscarriages are common. Still, I have no m/s and should count my blessings but it does not feel real.
Last Long Vacation...anyone have any suggestion?
My DH and I have been pretty active in traveling and we're racking our brains trying to figure out where to spend our last vacation without a family. We are planning on spending a weekend in Chicago in July but we want to do a week or so in August someplace that will a) be not too exhausting for me b) be a great last hoorah
Where would you go? (Keep in mind that we have done San Francisco/Napa, Germany and Prague last summer, Chicago, New York, London, Washington D.C., we live in Florida and my husband is boycotting the entire country of France)

fms-We did a Western Carribean cruise when I was 23 weeks (I believe 24 weeks is the limit). We have shots of us swimming with the stingrays in Grand Cayman and holding monkeys in Grenada. Unfortunately I was too ill to go to Belize which was why we planned that cruise itinerary but oh well. Given that I was pregnant, I liked having the option of either going off exploring at our ports of call or staying on the ship and relaxing, all depending on how I was feeling. The cruise was fun and entertaining and I fed the kids well with all the buffets and gourmet dinners! Since it was our last hurrah, we splurged on a junior suite and really enjoyed our last trip without kids.
Edited to say that we usually love taking active trips and taking a lot of time really seeing the sights and touring all over the place. We've been to Spain, Greece, Costa Rica, California wine country and San Fran, all over Texas, Chicago and weekend trips throughout New England. We specifically did a cruise so that I could choose how far to push myself while having mroe relaxing options open to me.

I had my first u/s on Monday and measured 7 weeks 4 days and saw a healthy heartbeat. :) I'm just praying every day that things continue to go ok. I'll have another u/s on May 15. (I'm a high-risk pg, so lots of u/s.) So far lots and lots of morning (i.e., all day) sickness, which is making it a real challenge to keep up with my 21-month-old DD.
My heart goes out to those of you who have suffered losses. I had two m/c prior to having my DD, and it is such a difficult and painful experience. {{{Hugs}}} to all of you.

rosa and fms, congrats on your ultrasounds! Makes me really excited for my next one, too! :D
NJMom and Teresita, welcome! :)
fms, I hope that we´ll be able to have a long vacation before December, too! We´d love to go to Florida again but won´t be able to do so before the end of September. That´ll make me 28-30w pregnant by then. I hope I´ll be able to stand a 10hr flight then.
Okay but since you already live in Florida (can I say I´m envious?!), here are other places I´d love to go to: Martha´s Vineyard/Boston/Cape Cod, Hawaii, San Diego, Vancouver. Australia is probably too far away from Florida too to be advisable during a pregnancy. Or what about Venice? Too bad that your husband boycotts France - Paris and Brittany are lovely in August! ;)

I nearly don´t dare to tell you what happened today to me: I was outside with DD and a neighbour of mine was standing on her balcony. When I walked inside the house, this neighbour came down the stairs, taking her trash out and said "What I wanted to ask you, Mrs XY, are you pregnant again? My daughter wondered some days ago and from the balcony I could see very clearly that you have a baby belly!" Can you imagine that I was speechless?! :eek: Talk about early showing! Good for me that I bought my first maternity pants on Ebay yesterday...

Hi all!
Had my first appointment and ultrasound May 1st. They are already offering me a test for genetic abnormalities on my next appointment that consists of a blood test and ultrasound. However they can only predict probabilities, and there can be false positives, and false negatives. Since we wouldn't abort anyway, I can't see the point in taking this test. Is anyone else also faced with this question? Any thoughts?

05-05-2006, 11:44 AM
hijacking! Hey Jen, it's me, Courtney :) We weren't planning on aborting either but took the tests just so we could prepare if we were going to have a child with special needs. I think it's a really personal decision, of course, but for us, we just wanted to know ahead of time rather than find out in the delivery room. I know that for us, it was such a relief to get negative results on the tests (since I'm a worrier!).

Hey jenchicago, welcome to the thread. :D
To answer your question, I will not be getting any testing what so ever. If they can't pick it up on the U/S, then we will deal with it when the baby is born. Since I am over 35, I have been offered amnio and nuchal fold and other fun little tests but I just see no point. We are going to take what God gives us so there's no point worrying about a possible false positive or whatever. :)

Jen, I agree with you, I want to enjoy my pregnancy and not worry about some test results that are not 100% sure anyway, just do not see the point in it. So DH an I decided against any tests.

Hi Ladies,
M/S has definitely kicked in. No throwing up yet (thank GOD!) but I've felt nauseous a good part of the entire day every day this week. Sour things seem to help so I've been keeping lots of lemonade on hand.
My pants have also seemed tight this week, even though I can't see any difference physically.
Strange. Hope all is well.

hi everyone, My pphone line has messed up my computer so I'll probably be MIA for a while, I am at my mom's now, I just wanted to congrat all new comers and give smypathy to those who are not doing so well.
My cramps seemed to have gone away for now evey now and then they show up. I don't know how I am going to deal with being big and hot during the summer, I am already uncomfortable, sticky and hot. Has anyone had food cravings yet. I have been craving chicken most of the time. I did have a two day craving to ice cream and bar b que chips, yes together, I don't even normally like bar b que chips. I have been having a few headaches. it is more like spazisms by my temple. I am so uncomfortable wearing bras i think I am going to have to buy a maternity bra. I hope everyone continues to do well. I'll be going into the 12 week at next doc apptment which is on may 22, she should be able to hear heartbeat with doppler. I am trying to stay focused on positive but I still have a little voice in the back saying be carefull don't tear the wall down completley. I hope a will be able to do that on may22 I know I will feel better then. I check in on you all in a few weeks unless my phone line gets repaired.

Whoops! took us 7 months last time, and less than 7 days this time to get preggers! So much for our "spring" baby, LOL. Now that we're over the shock and the doc has given me a due date, I'll de-lurk and join in.
I have to say, I cannot wait until the first trimester is over and gone. Last time (wasn't I JUST pg??!!) I had spotting every single day from the beginning of week 5 until week 14. Except for week 10, for some reason. Weird, huh? Not much m/s, but different stress. This time I started spotting last Thursday, and I'm definitely feeling more nausea. Since I did end up with a beautiful bouncing baby boy, I'm trying to be much more zen. And I'm not nearly as obsessive, since I have a one year old to chase around. My first u/s is May 17, so I hope to see a heartbeat and relax a little after that.
Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to this whirlwind ride with all of you!
On testing - we did the triple screen last time, and will do it again this time. For us, it was more of an issue of what do we need to be prepared for? like a_spark said. I'm a "planner", so I just wanted to know if there was anything else I could "plan" for. As if anyone is ever prepared for a newborn, ha ha!!
My pants are getting tight, but that's 'cause I've been eating like an elephant with guests in town, etc, and I can't even blame the baby yet. Alas, my last pg was over the winter, so I'll need to get different stuff this time around.

Hi everyone! My DH is out of the hospital. He almost died last week. The doctor said he didn't think he was going to make it. The only thing that saved him was an off-duty nurse that just happened to be be near him and a defibrillator that she used when he fell and had the heart attack. It has been such a nightmare. He says he feels better. I have to drive him around for the next 2 months. He has to be really careful. He had to have a stent put in and will need another one put in soon. His story was on the front page of our newspaper yesterday. We are all so lucky to have him.
I haven't really been able to focus on this pregnancy. I feel so bad for this baby, I hope it is okay. My first appointment is still May 25. It seems so far away. I just want to see the baby's heartbeat and make sure that everything is okay.
I hope you are all doing well!

tinkerbelljenny that is so scary. I am glad he's out of the hospital and doing ok. You two try and take it easy and get some rest. I am sure the baby is ok. Have you called your Dr? Given all the stress lately you could explain to them what's going on and ask for an earlier appointment to make you feel better.

AmyE, welcome! :) Wow, you really got pregnant fast! Not as fast as Britney but still very fast! ;) You will have quite a busy house with two under 2 but it will probably be great for your children!
Tinkerbelljenny, I am so glad to hear that your husband is okay! So he didn´t suffer any lasting damage, did he? Too bad that he has to have surgery again. I second pacificbliss and would call your doctor to move up your appointment. It sounds as if you need something positive to cheer you up.
M/S has become soooo much worse! Now I have it more than half of the day and I didn´t even have the problem with the bad smells so far. In my first pregnancy I got sick by smells everyday - if I opened the dishwasher when there were dirty dishes in there, I threw up. Since I have this cold and a stuffed nose I do not suffer from smells so far. But M/S is there and a have the feeling I need to throw up. So far I didn´t but even Ginger Ale does not help me anymore. It gets better when I eat and eat and eat. I can´t stand this nausea anymore! But at least it gives me some hope that I´m having a girl again. ;)
I´m quite excited and scared because tomorrow I have another obgyn appointment for an ultrasound. I so hope everything is okay!

Bad news-I feel awful. Nauseated beyond belief and tired all the time. I don't know how I can get through 19 weeks of work like this (that's how long it took me last time to get through the first round of M/S). I honestly want to cry sometimes at how miserable I feel. All I want to do is go to bed when i get home but then I feel like I am missing time with DD so I go play with her but I'm worthless. Boo hoo for me. Pity party for myself.
Good news-I saw the heartbeat today. A solid little "blip-blip-blip". Yes I feel awful but life is good. :D

Tinkerbell: That's great about your DH! I'm glad he's doing ok!
I barely have time to post in here and I'm sorry for that! I feel like all I do is work and sleep. Seriously, I'm getting about 10 hours of sleep a night now and it still doesn't seem like enough. I can't wait until I'm out of this first trimester!
I had my second appt with the doctor last week and he did another ultrasound. The baby is perfect and we got to see and hear the heartbeat. Its such an amazing thing!
I could really use a co-threadmistress! It doesn't take much time, but it would be nice to split the duties with someone. The only thing you have to do is update the first page when someone joins the group, or has an update. Please help me out!! ;)

HI ladies, I'm sorry I'm not posting much. I promise I'm reading along. It just seems my brain has been taken over already and I'm just absented minded so my actual work has been getting done at a much slower rate and posting has suffered because of it.
tinkerbelljenny I'm so glad to hear your DH is ok. What a scary thing to happen. I hope he recovers fully soon.
Still waiting around for my first appointment (May 22) feels like an eternity away. But then again it should fly by considering how much I sleep these days. ;)
Hope everyone's feeling great today!
Sophia -ugh, that sounds just miserable. I hope you feel better soon, and that the m/s doesn't last as long this time around.
Tinkerbelljenny - I'm so sorry about your DH. I hope he recovers quickly and you guys get a chance to just settle down and focus on other things. Must have been really scary.
I'm at home to day, sleeping as much as possible. DS had a cough last night that kept waking him up every couple of hours. I'm moved into the guest room and had night duty. DH took one look at me this morning and said "you're pregnant and you're staying home today to sleep." Um, ok! I have to say, it's been great. Although I did throw up this morning. Sigh.

Sorry more bad news.
We spent all night in the Emergency Room last night. DH started to have pains again. They ran a bunch of tests and put him on another medication. Only got about 1-2 hours of sleep. The doctor didn't really find much so they sent us home.
bellabonga My Dh was so lucky that there was little damage done. His doctor can't believe it. His doctor thought he would have brain damage.
Sorry I don't want to bring so much bad news.
Prenatals: Does anyone else get a really bad stomach ache after taking them? I can't take them every day because it makes me feel so sick.
sandy your appointment is on my birthday so I will be thinking of you on that day! :)
Not much else to report. I have a financial meeting at my doctor's on Thursday. I think it is lame that they make you come in to figure out your insurance. I don't understand why they can't just do it over the phone. We have insurance and it is all covered for the birth and everything else so what is the point. So Stupid!
I hope everyone is feeling well.

I had my second appointment today and got my maternity passport. I´m slightly annoyed because of the EDD - according to my LMP it would have been 12/16, according to the day I ovulated 12/15 and because the baby was three days bigger during the first ultrasound, the obgyn today filled in 12/14 as my EDD. He made a very brief ultrasound and measured the baby only once today. And because of this early EDD, the baby was three days to short today. It only measured 17.3mm where it should have measured 20mm. So I did not understand why he still pushed the EDD. However, it had short arms and legs and looked like a gummi bear. :D
I will have the NT test combined with a blood test done in 5 weeks. But since my obgyn is very nice, he noticed that I was disappointed to have 5 weeks waiting time and so he said that I could come in in two weeks again for another ultrasound. :D
So my next appointments are May 23th and June 13th!

Welcome Rancid and sorry to hear your husband keeps having issues, Jenny.
Well I went to the Dr for another ultrasound since at the last one we didn't see much although it was normal for how far along I was. Well today, you could actually tell what was what (head, arm/leg buds, etc) so it was very exciting. The heartbeat was at 162 which they said was good and I got to hear it!! I feel so relieved. They said I measured right at 8 weeks, too so 12/20 is still my due date. I am feeling nauseaus on and off all day for about the last two weeks which they say is a good sign, too. It I'll gladly deal with that if it results in a healthy baby. Food is the only thing that helps or if I am doing an activity (like I was planting flowers) and I start to feel that way I have to rest for a little while. I never get to the verge of getting sick but almost. Hoefully this ends in the next few weeks. I definitely feel like I have gained weight, pants getting tight, etc. but everything is still wearable for now.
After the appt I stopped at Bellini to look around. Their furniture is on the high $$ side and I really didn't care for them. I have seen less expensive cribs that I like much better. My mom said she'd buy it for us when the time comes so I was excited about that!
Hope everyone has a good night!

Welcome and congratulations, AmyE and Rancid!
Tinkerbelljenny I am so sorry to hear of your DH’s health troubles. I can’t imagine how emotional this must be for you. Hang in there! I will keep you both in my thoughts. Also, I think it’s not uncommon for the iron in prenatals to cause stomach upset. It might help if you take them right after a meal so your stomach is full. Or, I always take mine right before bed so I am asleep and don’t notice the effects so much.
Sophia I’m sorry you are feeling so miserable. 19 weeks…yikes! I am praying that my m/s will subside around 12 weeks as it did with my DD. Can you get a prescription for zofran (I think that’s the anti-nausea med) from your Dr.?
Sunshine Glad your appointment went well and that you got to see the heartbeat!
All’s ok here. Super nauseous and exhausted all of the time. Yesterday all I could manage to eat was some crackers, a popsicle, and some seltzer. Today is going a little better, but still all I feel like doing is sleeping, and I have way too much work to do to sleep. Hope everyone else is doing well!

Hope everyone is doing well. I had some spotting yesterday and was freaked out. I was travelling for work and stop to use the restroom. When I wiped I saw some red blood. Congrats on your gummy bear bellabonga and your maternity passport (incorrect dates and all) ! :)
Yikes da1sy. I hope everything is okay. I had a friend who had a hematoma in her uterus and bled for the entire first trimester. The baby is fine though and in fact he turned a year last month. It's still scary though.
Hi Teresita. Thanks for the kind words. I did use Zofran last time and it honestly didn't do all that much for me. A friend from another thread is getting together a list of natural remedies. One of the things that does help a bit is lemon water or diluted grapefruit juice. Oh, and vomitting. LOL. It's miserable when it happens but I always feel so much better for a couple of hours after. :p
Congrats on seeing the heartbeat Sunshine. I agree with you on the Bellini furnitiure. I wasn't too impressed either, especially for the price. It's very cool that your mom is going to buy the crib.

Well I’m so sorry everyone is getting slammed with m/s. I hope everyone gets to feeling better soon
Cause were almost in the 2nd trimester can you believe How quick it went?
I feel like I’m going to be sick maybe once a day for about 5 minutes and then I’m tired by 6 and in the bed by 5 I feel useless I feel like I have not gotten enough sleep. My appetite has def changed I want more fruity stuff all I want is smoothies. Nothing else sounds good and leaves a awful disgusting taste in my mouth.
Pacificbliss it does taste like that well atleast we know it is normal
Oh and all I do is cry over everything especially when I see a baby or baby things, it just touches me. Weird…
.
We are so excited about our fist u/s Tuesday I feel like it will be a huge relief since we will know everything is ok seeing on my last appointment I didn’t even get told my HCG levels.
If something was wrong they would have called me right?

hi ladies!
rancid and AmyE welcome!!
tink oh, i'm so sorry that you and your dh are still suffering. hope he gets better soon. so happy to hear that there wasn't any damage or lasting effects.
sunshine wow! you got to hear the heartbeat at 8 w? your u/s must have been much better than mine since all we got is a little blob. :) i was surprised by how expensive the Bellini stuff is too. There are way too many crib choices out there. I have no idea how we'll pick.
da1sy i hope the u/s goes well!! keeping my crossables crossed for you.
martyneym good luck with your appt tomorrow! how exciting
Chris'slady yes, they would have called if something was wrong. good luck with your appt!! where DID the 1st trimester go? crazy
hope everyone's m/s goes away soon. i'm doing pretty good with mine, but i just have to be careful what i eat and when.
i am a big emotional mess lately though. so i hear everyone on that for sure.
i have been getting bigger too, and i just wish it looked more like a pg belly and not a i've gained weight belly. soon, i know...its just a frustrating in between. i did get some maternity clothes this week.
oh, and i forgot to mention before, but our next midwife appt is june 1st we will get to hear the hb with a doppler.
so my question is: who have you told about your pg and when? i told my advisor and my family knows, but i'm debating what to say to everyone else and when. anyone have thoughts? i don't want to wait too long before it gets pretty obvious.

Ok, I know I should know this but when does the first trimester end? Counting from the first day of my last period I am 8 weeks 0 days.

05-10-2006, 02:41 PM
Opinions differ. It's either 12 weeks, 13 weeks or 14 weeks, depending on who you ask or which internet site you look it up on. Although if you factor in that a full term pregnancy is 40 weeks, divide it by thirds, you get 13.3 weeks. *sigh* I think I just confused myself. :confused:

Ok, I know I should know this but when does the first trimester end? Counting from the first day of my last period I am 8 weeks 0 days.
I think it ends at 13w2d or 13w3d. I think. Some folks say the first trimester is over once you've reached 14w.

05-10-2006, 03:02 PM
so my question is: who have you told about your pg and when?
Everyone knows. Matter of fact, Dh's story and picture was on the front page of the Sunday paper and it stated that I was pregnant so if someone didn't know, they know now!
marteneym Hope your appointment goes well!
da1sy
I don't think I mentioned it but I had spotting when we went to Arizona. It stopped after a few minutes and I haven't seen any blood since.
I still have to wait 15 more days until my first appointment. It seems so far away! We have to go in tomorrow to discuss the insurance and I am going to try to see if they can get me in for a sooner appointment.
Rancid13

so my question is: who have you told about your pg and when?
I told hubby a few minutes after the BFP and my best friends and close family the next day. I gradually told almost everyone else over the next few weeks, and finally told my boss last Friday. I know a lot of people like to wait till they've made it past the first trimester, but I opted to tell everyone early and get a support system in place. Should anything happen (god forbid), I'd rather have the support & help of everyone that's close to me rather than have to explain it to a ton of people who had no idea I was even expecting to begin with. It's definitely a personal choice, whatever you feel most comfortable with.

Thanks Guys....
I went to my ultrasound but I was told nothing. The Tech. just asked if I had a follow-up appt. with my doc. I did not so he called and I have an appt. tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. My Doc also ordered a HCG Qnt. to check my levels. They are running this test as a Stat. The good thing is I work for the lab company so I will be able to review my results when they come in.
Fingers crossed for you Daisy. I hope everything comes back great.
So far, I've only told DH. We kept the first pg quiet until 12 weeks, but have decided to spill the beans Memorial Day weekend. I'll be about 9 1/2 weeks at that point (I think. I've been so bad at keeping track it's almost funny.) I had so much spotting the first time that I was constantly worried, but it's been much better this time.

For those of you suffering from M/S, has anyone tried Sea Bands http://www.morningsicknesshelp.com/seabands.html (http://www.morningsicknesshelp.com/seabands.html)? I have heard good things about them and have been considering ordering a pair. And, yup, I have metal mouth here as well. Blech!
Daisy I hope you get good news...I know the waiting is tough. I spotted and bled throughout my first trimester with my DD and had a week or so of spotting this time around as well (prior to seeing the heartnbeat). It is nervewracking, but does not always mean that anything is wrong.
Telling People Besides DH and I, only our parents and one good friend of mine know I'm PG. I only told my parents because they were visiting, and I was feeling so pukey and exhausted and I knew my mom was getting worried that something was wrong with my health. Then DH told his mom because I had told mine. Oh, and one of my coworkers guessed that I was pregnant (probably because I looked like death from M/S on our last business trip), but assured me she would keep it quiet until I felt ready to share. We'll wait until the end of the first trimester to tell everyone else.

Rancid13, welcome! :)
da1sy, too bad that you didn´t get an immediate result! I´m crossing my fingers for you that everything is okay!
Chris´slady, I am so emotional, I cry over everything too. Strange thing is that I don´t get this emotional over babies but over everything that´s slighty sentimental. Yesterday I watched "In her shoes" on DVD and I was on the edge of tears for the whole movie because I asked myself whether I was having a girl and whether she´d be this close with DD. :rolleyes:
Tinkerbelljenny, I hope everything is okay with your husband! And I´m crossing my fingers for you that they´ll move up your appointment.
Mandersald, I bought some maternity clothes too in the past week. I got some Old Navy capris and a summer dress on Ebay. And I had a look at the maternity section in the local H&M and everything was so ugly! I only bought a nice sweater because I could swear that the sweaters will be ugly in September or October when I need them.
This time telling I was pregnant was kind of chaotic. I took the test in the morning before I brought DD to the kindergarden and it really took me by surprise. So I told DH on the phone while he was at work. My parents were on holiday in Florida and I had asked my mom to buy some clothes for me at Old Navy. Since I had no use for that clothes now that I´m pregnant, I had to tell my mother on the phone, too. I told my dad and three friends in person but everyone else on the phone - don´t ask me why! Now nearly everyone knows except our grandmas but somehow there wasn´t the right moment to tell them.
Teresita, I haven´t tried that belts but I know some people who were really excited about them. And I always wanted to tell you that your daughter is too cute! :D
M/S is here 24/7 and I´m so sick of it! Ginger Ale doesn´t help anymore and I don´t like most healthy things. I can only have drinks with lots of sugar in them like coke or sugared juices - things I usually never drink! And I eat much more than necessary and lots of sweets too because that is the only thing that helps me against M/S. I will probably gain 60 lbs this time! Yesterday it got so bad that I took two Tums which helped a little bit. But I wasn´t really sure whether it´s safe to take them during the first trimester. Does anyone know? I took lots of them when I was pregnant with Maya but that was in the last trimester when I suffered from horrible heartburn. At least M/S got my hopes up that it might be another girl since I´m as sick as I was with Maya...

hi ladies, well my computer decided to worktoday.I am 10wks 2day.
I started to get a hair line at belly button. at least I have something to show besides just looking fatter. not that I am showing that off but at least I know .I have told dh, mom, and boss. dh has told his best friend. we needed soneone to know in case me needed moral support. but I plan on mailing out anouncment at the end of may begining of june. I really want to wait till the 14 week. My dad will be the last to know because last time I told him and m/c he said now I have to go tell everyone. So since he was a jerk about it he can be the last to know this time.
DREAMS: I had a dream the other night that my baby is a boy, and he had my eyes and light brown hair and we named him conner. it was neat to see him in my dream but I have heard the saying if you dream of a baby being born then there is usually a death and if you dream of a death then someone is pregnant. well the same night I had the dream my aunt passed away and last night I dreamed of a death and I am pregnant. I feel really weird about the whole thing. I wasn't close to my aunt and she was sick and it was expected, but all the same it makes me more protective of this pregnancy.
FOOD CRAVINGS: has anyone had any?

Hi Ladies, sorry I haven't been keeping up but my boys and I have been sick for over a week now. I actually got sick with stomach bug first (threw up 6 times in 7 hours) then my poor babies got sick too. They are still both gaining back strength but not back to normal yet.
M/S has also kicked in with me so I started taking my Zofran early to try to prevent getting really sick like I did last time. I had Hyperemesis and was home on IV's for 5 weeks. Can't do that this time with 2 15 month old boys.
I have my first "official" doctors appointment next Wednesday the 17th so I am hoping all goes well. As far as cravings, I have been craving COLD juicy fruits (grapes, pears, peaches and now pineapple). Also, ham sandwiches and soup. Basically, similar to last time.
Sorry I cannot catch up with everyone but I do want to tell Tinkerbelljenny that I hope your DH is doing well.

M?S has been really heavy the last 3 days, and nothing appeals to me. I have been living on canned fruits, cereal, cranberry juice and toast. I had one good meal the night before last, but otherwise I'm just snacking on the same things, hoping to keep them down. I'm so happy to have symptoms, though, that I don't even care!
Had my first "official" doctor's appoinment Tuesday, although a bit out of order since I had already had an u/s and two gyno exams the prior week due to my bleeding. Anyway, so far so good. Not sure when I'll be able to relax and believe that everything will be well--Im thinking about 1 hour post-partum.

Telling People - I think we pretty much told my entire family Easter weekend. We had a huge fish fry at our house and everyone was in town at the same time. :D We told DH cousin first b/c she is my dentist and I was getting some work done and I needed a shot. So I had to tell her. :rolleyes:
I have told just a couple of ladies at work that have kids as well and one lady is pregnant. I work at a very childish office with lots of immature gossip people mostly men; I will never say anthing to them. I am reluctant to tell my boss but I will after the 1st trimester. HR says I don't have to say anything until it is time to discuss leave. They are very big on privacy. :)
I must admit I was reluctant to tell any of DH family b/c they were a little insensitive when we had the MC last year. One of his aunts called us in the middle of the night to just "talk" that is how rude she is, just b/c she is on the west coast and was awake so what if we were sleeping. Then she proceeds to ask me how is the baby doing this was about a month after the M/C I was confused and 1/2 asleep so I said what baby and she said your baby. I told her I don't have a baby and hung up the phone. Well this set his family off on how rude we were and blah blah. His mom didn't even stick up for us. :mad:
So at this point they never have to know. They can just see the baby after it is born HA Haa :p

Oh and a great place to help the crib search I got a copy of Baby Bargins and so far it is really good. I don't want to end up with crap that will fall apart once the baby is active. But I don't want to pay a mint for a crib. http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:YnZB2vXipZBw3M:http://images.amazon.com/images/P/188939209X.01._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

I'm sorry everyone's dealing with M/S and emotional roller coasters. I'm thankful my M/S isn't too bad this week. I seem to only want chocolate chip cookies though when I'm feeling queasy. Kind of odd but I'll do whatever it takes!
Telling people. Only a few close friends and my sister know right now. We're telling family this weekend over Mother's Day. I figured it may be early (I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow) but I want them to know. I live 30 minutes from my parents and my mom is already wondering why I've been scarce. And my pants are getting tight already (probably the chocolate chips!) but hopefully I can hold off until my 14th week to tell people at work.

DREAMS:DH and I have both had dreams in which one or both of us were playing with or carrying a baby girl/little girl. :) We're both hoping for a girl too.
FOOD CRAVINGS:I've been craving fast food, which is horrible! I had been really good for ~6 months there, taking my lunch with me to work (usually a grilled chicken & spinach salad). These last few weeks I've had a serious aversion to salad and craving for Taco Bell, In N Out and Subway. So I did away with the lunchtime salads and headed for the drive thru.
Also, if someone so much as mentions a food to me, I find myself suddenly wanting it. Real power of suggestion working there. A couple weeks ago someone mentioned a craving for banana bread, I went home that night and baked 2 loaves of zucchini bread (close cousin of banana bread and a favorite of mine). Someone else said something about a turkey sandwich, and I needed to get some Subway right away. I also had a banana split a few days ago from Dairy Queen for the first time in, oh, 5 or 6 years~and it was SO GOOD!! :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had my bloodwork/lab appointment yesterday. I have this serious but unfounded fear of needles, so anything involving needles nearly terrifies me. DH had to go with me, to hold my other hand and tell me it would be ok, and to make sure I actually went to the appt. It had been ~10-12 years since the last time I had to have any blood drawn and the only time I've been faced with needles within the last decade has been for dental work~ and they numb the area first before even bringing out the needles!!
DH said he was proud of me, that I did really good. Even though my eyes were squeezed shut the whole time and I was shaking from nervousness and nearly in tears. He took me out for fro-yo afterwards. :D My arm was sore all of last night, it kept feeling like this stinging sensation. I sure hope this bloodwork isn't needed on a regular basis, bleh!! :(
Rancid13 Now I really want zucchini bread. :)
telling people DH was the first to know. On Easter I called my family (Mom, Dad, grandmother,and sister all live together) and told them. I told them because after m/c Mom promised not to ask me if I was pg if I promised to tell her right away. SHe was good about it so I was too. Then I had some business travel... on one trip I was staying with afriend who kept wanting to do a wine tasting so I told her (I was about six weeks). Recently I was travelling with my boss who is also sort of a friend. It's tough to be friends with your boss. He commented on all the water I was drinking and I went ahead and told him. He knew about the m/c and was very excited and super supportive. He also knows that he doesn't offically know so no one else at work knows. I think I will tell people at 14 weeks or after I get to see a h/b, whichever comes first.
bellabonga Tums is on the approved meds list from my Dr.
tinkerbelljenny I hope you and DH are doing ok.
Sorry to those of you having bad m/s. I get a little queasy from time to time but nothing bad. Actually, last night I was reading "Great Expectations",the pg book and it said m/s is a sign of a healthy pg and women with it are less likely to m/c. This freaked me out. Then it went on to say don't worry if you don't have it you might just be one of the lucky ones...this didn't help. Last night I dreamed I was having spotting. I checked this book out from the library to see if I liked it and wanted to buy a copy. Needless to say I don't like it.
Sorry this got so long. Take care
Food: No specific cravings yet but fast food, donuts, etc all sound really good! I haven't been too bad yet although we were at my friend's house last weekend (she's preggo, too) and we all got Kentucky Fried Chicken and Taco Bell for dinner. That is pretty unlike us so we wrote it off as pregnanyc related. Let me tell you, it was sooo good! I ate a little more than normal but it was b/c it tasted so good.
Telling people: I have told my mom and a few close friends. We won't tell DH's family, work, other family until after 12 weeks. We're visiting DH's fam in MD next weekend so I am sure that will be hard for DH but I really feel strongly about this. He was totally fine with this until I had my appt this week where I saw the HB but I saw that last time and still had the M/C. I am not close to his family at all so don't want them to know for now. I'd be happy not telling them at all until the baby was born if you know what I mean.
i get this all the time too!!! dang it...anyone have zucchini bread they want to share?
acutally, i don't really have cravings, but its more like aversions
dreams no dreams for me lately, but i have a feeling its a boy. dh is scared by the thought of a girl. (why is that, you suppose? didn't i turn out alright? :)) anyways, i think we've decided to try to not find out the sex. not sure still though.
kimmer i love the baby bargains book! so great for a first timer to really try to figure out what to get. actually, dh was so sweet that he got that book, consumer reports, as well as some naming books for me as a mother-to-be day gift.
ok, time for bed...i'm WAY too tired these days.
Threadmaster please remove me from the list.
I went for my appt. today and it did not look well. They were not able to find a heart beat. It seems it has not progressed in size. I went for a second ultrasound today and the conclusion was the same. I have another blood test just to confirm my HCG levels aren't going up. I am not bleeding and have slight cramping so it I do not miscarry on my own I will have to go for a D&C next week.
Wish everyone the best of luck.
Well i had a scare yesterday it shook me up.
I woke up and didnt have to be to work untill 11pm so i had breakfast and etc, cleaned a little then i went to the bathroom and i was spotting really bad i freaked because it has never happened and i was thinking the worse. So i called my mom and she told me to call my doctor, so i did and i talked to teh nurse for abotu two hours playing phone tag between her and me and the doctor so finally he said it is ok since it stopped and he moved my ultrasound till friday, well i went today and i had a internal ultrasound everythign is perfect the baby is everywhere it is suppost to be and the heartbeat is 167 i was so releived adn happy but i still have to go in the 16th( this tues) for a pap and feel the baby etc... so im not looking forward to that because my doctor is HOT. Which is very uncomfortable.
Da1sy- I'am so sorry, you are in my thoughts and prayers
Rancid13- i feel the same wasy as you do about needles i have always refused them i just hate them but when i had my blood test she did a good job i hardly felt it i jsut hope i get her again cause it was pain free, but from what i have heard as teh pregnancy progresses we go get bloodwork adn get in a gown to be checked that is what one of my friends said that jsut had her baby. I always joke and say will you get me a prize for beign so good.
Telling people- well we wanted to wait but DH i guess coul'dnt control it he spilled it to everyone.
Chris'sLady: I'm glad to hear everything turned out to be ok!
Telling people: We told EVERYONE at 5 weeks - I can't keep a secret! :)
Food: I had a craving for cake, so DH went to Meijer and bought me a cake. Boy was that good! The only other weird thing is that I used to eat prime rib (from Outback) every Monday night when DH was out of town, and now I can't even stand the thought of it.
m/s: *knock on wood* I think I made it through w/o any m/s! My doc said if I haven't had it by now, I shouldn't get it. I have been really tired though. I try to get at least 10 hours of sleep each night, which is hard because of work. I took a vacation day today to try to catch up on my sleep. I ended up sleeping 12 hours last night - and now I feel a lot better!
Welcome katmg...it's good to see you here:)
Hey girls,
I'm hopelessley behind on this thread but, I'm still here. Work was miserable for me last week and doesn't look like it's getting better until next week (I'm at work now...on Mother's Day.)
da1sy Our thoughts are with you.
Telling people I think half the universe knows that I'm pg with the exception of everyone at work. I'm waiting to tell them.
Cravings There aren't too many things I'm not willing to eat these days. I have had no nausea (ok, I did have to change the channel when the MTV commercial for the "Fresh Meat" series came on...the butcher slicing meat made me want to hurl) and I'm not opposed to eating anything. I was on a Mango kick for a week or so. I am a horrible person and a turkey croissant last night b/c I was starving.
Belly I can see something is different but I'm not sure if I'm overreacting or if I have a small bump. I need to take a belly shot (I'm a photographer part-time and am so busy with clients that I can't seem to make time or remember to do a photo for myself.)
Happy Mother's Day to All!!! :D :D
Daisy - so sorry for your loss.
Cravings - um, none yet, but a lot of aversions. I can't stand the smell of coffee, and most other strong food smells.
ms/ - well, I've been feeling better this weekend, but not great. I'm learning to eat lots of little things - almonds, saltines, bread. I've also tried sucking on candied ginger. Seems to help. Meanwhile, DH and DS both have stomach problems now, so I'm wondering if my m/s isn't actually m/s but whatever tummy bug is plaguing my house right now. Even the cat threw up on the stairs yesterday!!
Belly - I'm in that awful state where all my pants feel too tight and make me feel nauseated, but I can't fit into maternity stuff yet. To make matter worse, the weather is still pretty cool here, so I can't break out my loose summer skirts and dresses yet, which would have been such a relief!
Welcome katmg!
Question: for those with m/s, what seems to work for you?
11wks HAPPY MOTHER"S DAY EVERYONE! I am so tiered and I don't feel so well today. I just wanted to check in on every one. Welcome katmg. I think my body it just tiered I have been working early morning shifts and I had a funeral to go to yesterday and today I am going out with my family. I hate being around them and not telling them but I think it is better for me to wait, not too much longer now.
Craving: I usually crave chicken, any kind of chicken. and sometimes chocolate.
I hope eveyone has a good day I have one week till I get to hear the heartbeat, I will feel better then. I really hope she ordres an ultrasound but I doubt if she will since I had 4 of them early on during weeks 4-7.
Just stopping by to say congrats to kat!! Yay for you!!! I'll be sending you lots of sticky vibes!! I am so happy that you guys were able to conceive again so quickly!! I've been where you are (We lost a pregnancy at 15 weeks and then I was pregnant a few months later) and you probably won't feel calm until you have that baby in your arms!
Has anyone else been feeling dizzy or light headed? It has been driving me crazy because I have to lay down until it goes away. I had to call in to work today to let them know I wouldn't be in until later because I wasn't sure if it would go away.
Katmg~ Welcome, and congratulations!
m/s~ Still none here. I think that’s 1 symptom I’ve managed to avoid. I think part of it is genetic-my mom only had m/s with 1 out of 3 pg’s (with me, go figure!) and my grandma only had mild nausea. I’ve had some evenings where I just plain didn’t feel well, but no real nausea to speak of.
Cravings/aversions~ I’ve been having serious aversions to what used to be my daily lunch, a grilled chicken & spinach salad. Just the thought of salad makes me cringe, and I want nothing to do with them right now. So instead of a nice healthy salad for lunch, I end up going to Taco Bell or just slightly healthier than that, Subway.
Belly~ my jeans definitely feel like they’re getting snugger as the afternoon approaches, and I bought some maternity jeans last weekend but haven’t worn them yet. I’m holding off for as long as I can because I love my Levi’s too much. Other than that, my belly just looks slightly bloated…not that it was anywhere near flat before I got pg though.
Dizzy/lightheadedness~ I’ve heard this is a common pg symptom. I was reading that it has something to do with the increased blood flow during pregnancy, and usually occurs when one gets up from a lying down or sitting position, it can bring on a feeling of dizziness/lightheadedness. Since I don't have the book with me that had the section on dizziness ("Your Pregnancy, Week by Week"), here's an article I found on babycenter.com with regards to it:http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/pregnancy/prenatalhealth/228.html
delaney21 I have also been pretty light-headed. I think that until your blood volume catches up with increased circulatory capacity your blood pressure can be low and make you feel light-headed. It should be over soon. I have had queasy days, no real m/s but have been dizzy instead.\
Hi girls, sorry I was MIA, I was on the business trip to PA, just got back this weekend. And guess what my welcome back was? M/S! yak… So I am sick allllllllll day looooong!
I have nausea all day long, sometimes I wish I can just go and release, so I can feel better!
So far I lost 4lbs and I think it will be more, because I just cannot eat. But my pants fit tighter, so I guess my stomach is growing :)
I have my first OBG appointment on the 18th, cannot wait to see our first U/S :)
on mother's day I was feeling lightheaded and nauses. I ate some dinner and the nausea went away and the lightheadedness went away shortly after. I tried sitting with my feet proped up and getting up slowly but it never went away so if that doesn't help try to eat a meal and see if that does it.
m/s I have had some just threw up for the first time this morning because I didn't get breakfast in me fast enough. I used the motion sickness wrist bands in my pregnany with my daughter and they seemed to help a lot. I haven't used them for this pregnancy but will use them if I need to.
aversions I had a real bad aversion to Chicken with my pregnancy with my daughter I haven't had much this time except that most everything doesn't sound good to me.
Welcome carissa!
Welcome Carissa!
At my last appointment my Dr. ordered blood drawn for tests, etc. I went to the clinic my healthplan is through this morning. When I told the nurse that I get lightheaded when blood is taken she led to me the kids room where I got to lie down:p After I counted 6 vials (I could hear her change them) I started to wonder what was going on. They took 9 vials this morning. Does that seem like a lot to anyone else? I was really glad that I had some OJ and a sugary cereal bar with me.
My DH and I decided to go to dinner and then walk around the outdoor mall that the restaurant was inside of last night (do it while you can, right?). We ventured into the maternity section of baby gap. Deciphering the difference b/w the various types of panel pants was a challenge. He and I were in awe. I did buy a black sweater that was on sale and will come in handy in the fall. It was my first maternity realted purchase outside of a book and a magazine.
I had my first blood test(s?) done last week at a nearby lab; I was watching the nurse/technician getting all the vials out and I think I counted up to 4 before I looked away and out the window, and the blood drawing only took ~30-45 seconds total (felt like an eternity to this wimp). I hate having blood drawn or any injections, so I was supernervous and couldn't watch. DH said my eyes were shut tight the entire time.
I'm not sure what they're testing for or how many tests are being done, but my next obgyn appt is next Friday so hopefully there'll be some answers and/or good news about the results by then.
OB/GYN appt. I had my first official appointment of this pregnancy today. The doctor went ahead and did another ultrasound to check on the subchorionic bleeding that showed up on the last one. It looks like that is mostly absorbed. Got to hear the heartbeat again - what a reassuring sound that is! All in all, things looked good and I'll go for another appointment in 4 weeks. :D
Welcome, Carissa! :)
There´s not much going on with me right now. I´m tired all of the time and would love to nap each day after lunch but DD Maya doesn´t nap anymore so that is out of the question. M/S is still there and I have aversions to lots of food. Even worse is that I can´t drink water anymore because I could threw up at the thought of it. All I can drink right now is pure juice, so I also got heartburn for the last two days. :rolleyes:
We´ve spent the weekend in The Netherlands with my parents and my grandma which was quite nice. I bought two maternity tops there since they have much more maternity clothes than in Germany. And the Old Navy dress I bought on Ebay arrived today. Unfortunately it turned out to be made of stiff cotton. So the dress is much too big for me around the belly (no wonder as it´s still so early) and I fear that it will fit me just when the summer is over. :( I´m so glad that my low rise jeans still fit me and cross my fingers that they will for another couple of weeks...
I had my first doctor's appointment yesterday so my official due date is December 29th. I also had an u/s and got to see the baby and the heartbeat, so amazing! Everything is going good. I'm a little disappointed though because my doctor said that after 8/1 he will not be doing any more obstetrics so he won't be able to deliver the baby, it will have to be one of the other doctors in the practice. While I really like the other doctors too, my doctor delivered my boys and I would really prefer him. Oh well. I have my next appointment on June 14th.
Since I have been taking my zofran, my m/s seems to be doing better the past 2 days or so. I still have it but not as bad. I just want to be able to enjoy these next months with my boys and not be sick. Things seem to be going better so I am feeling a bit relieved.
Hope everyone has a great day!
Hey Ladies,
I had my doctors appt tuesday the regular schedule one, it was my annual so it wasnt much fun, then my doctor got out some cold stuff put it on my belly and i got to hear the baby's heart beat and he told me once you have heard your babies heart beat on this after 10 weeks you have less than one percent miscarriage rate so he said this baby is coming full force.
My next ultrasound is June 13
Welcome and congrats to katmg and Carissa!:D
Bellabonga Thanks for your compliments on DD. Your DD is absolutely adorable—her hair is just beautiful! BTW, where in Germany are you? I lived in Konstanz for a year way back when (1992–93).
M/S: This pg has been so much worse than my previous one. I feel sick just about 24/7 and am just so wiped out that between work and trying to keep up with my almost-two-year-old, I feel like a zombie. I got my sea bands yesterday, but haven’t really noticed much of a difference.
Cravings: Corn on the cob, fruit, especially watermelon, sour things—lemonade, sour candy, etc., soda (and I normally never drink soda at all)
Food I can manage to force down: Chicken noodle soup, whole grain toast w/peanut butter, mac n cheese
Aversions: Everything else. Seriously, I normally have a diverse palate, and love veges and salads. Now the thought of a salad or spicy food is nauseating. Also, two of my typical loves—coffee and chocolate—make me feel pukey if I even think of them. Very strange.
Other than feeling icky, things are going well here. I had another u/s on Monday and was measuring 9.3 weeks and saw a healthy heartbeat. I’ve lost a few lbs from the m/s, but I swear my belly is definitely popping out a bit after I eat. Has anyone taken any belly shots yet? I may take some 10 week ones this wknd.
Funny about the salad aversions; normally I have a grilled chicken & spinach salad w/honey dijon dressing and I LOVE them. I would have to if I eat them 5 days a week for 5 months straight. Well lately, that has sounded like the most disgusting food to me, and I've been heading straight to the drive-thru (Taco Bell, In N Out, Subway) for alternate lunches. But I still love chocolate, I stop by Barnes & Noble every other week to grab a few of their milk chocolate bars (and some dark chocolate for DH). So good!
m/s and aversions - My biggest aversion right now is chicken. I'm not normally a big red meat eater, but that's all I can eat. Beef is DEFINITELY what's for dinner right now. That and carbs - rice, bread, pasta. I'm just so darn picky right now. Something may sound great today and gross me out completely tomorrow. We normally eat leftovers quite a bit but I can't seem to manage the same thing two nights in a row.
cravings - nothing really so far...it's more what isn't going to make me feel sick. Although I did have to stop at the grocery store last night for an emergency orange. :p
I told my boss yesterday about the pregnancy. She was really great and wanted to know if they were do anything differently for the pgncy vs. the one that ended in a m/c. She said she was glad to know so that she doesn't overload me too much right now since the 1st trimester is so hard.
My appetite has been weird. I am still nauseated almost 24/7 but will crave Subway and Taco Bell one day and then barely eat anything the next. I have lost weight because of the M/S and all of my clothes are looser on me. Last time I lost almost 20 pounds and didn't start wearing maternity clothes until 16 weeks even though I was carrying twins. Let's see what happens this time.
Teresita-I have been drinking the occasional soda as well and also did it with the last pregnancy despite the fact that I normally don't drink soda at all. Soda has a very high sugar content so I'm wondering if our bodies are craving that energy boost.
Hey Carissa, I was wondering when you were going to come on board!
I have to chime in on the food aversions thing. I have basically not wanted to eat any meat. I can have meat in something, like a sauce, but a big piece of meat just makes me feel sick, like I can't swallow it.
I also feel like one day something is great and the next day it is terrible.
One weird thing is that we just got back from the Dominican Republic, and I felt great while there. Now I feel nauseous a lot again. I am trying to figure out how I was eating differently there.
So far I have GAINED about 5 pounds since eating is the only way to stave off the nausea, but that is in the normal range, epsecially since I started out a bit underweght (my doctor told me to gain about 40 pounds :eek: ).
I am just hoping that this nausea ends when I enter the second trimester (only a week and a half!). I hope all of you feel better very soon too.
I have been feeling better overall. The last two days I have had minimal nausea but am making sure I eat regularly for fear it comes back. No real aversions here although reading about meat...doesn't sound good at all. I have been pretty much been ok eating most things although once I think about something, I have to have it.
Off to visit the inlaws in MD this weekend (still not telling them!) so have a good weekend everyone!
I go for my first official OB appt 5/25 so am looking forward to that even though I have been a few times already.
Just got back from my first u/s. The doctor was very quiet, looked around and around, didn't say much at first. My husband and I were SURE something was wrong. Then doc says "so, have you figured it out yet?" DH held my hand and I said no, what? (sure that the news was bad...)
Doc says "well, there are two gestational sacks. You're having twins.'
TWINS!!!!
OH MY GOD. we are SO not ready for twins! DS will only be 20 months when these kids are born! How are we going to pick names! How do I breastfeed! We need another crib! and carseat! AIIEEEE... I don't even know where to begin. There are no/no twins anywhere at all in either family. AIIIIIIEEEEEEE.......
eta: oh and I'm with Teresita. I loved coffee and chocolate, and can't stand either now. And MIL sent me a big box of truffles for mothers day! Doc says I'm nauseated this pg 'cause there are two culprits, although I escaped it last time around. (Can I aiiieeee again?)
