I'm going back to work from maternity leave in a couple weeks and have been trying to put my wardrobe together. I work in a professional office with a strict dress code. Basically we're one step down from having to wear suits everyday. Anyway, I've lost my baby weight, and then some, but things aren't, well, as shapely as they used to be.

I have some shapewear that's basically like pantyhoes that have been cut off at the knees. They rearrange things nicely and make a world of difference under my pants. In the past I've only worn them for special occasions (like under my wedding dress), but now I think I want to wear them every day. I don't think it's obvious under my pants that I have them on, but I worry if I wear them some days and not others, people will catch on. Though the logical part of my brain says no one is paying quite that close attention to my rear. Really, though, I just feel like a big cheater for wanting to wear them everyday.

So I'm just wondering what "real people" do. Maybe it's not as big of a deal as I'm making it.

I don't now but I would occasionally before I lost some weight. I always see it on HSN with Rhonda Shears and it makes the women look great.

I don't think it's a big deal to wear it at all.

If I found it comfortable, I would wear it everyday (holds in my love handles! Shirts lay SOOO much better!). However, I've never found any shapewear comfy. So I stick to special occasions.

I've heard that the Spanx power panties work well and are comfortable, so I plan to try them out to even out some "lumpiness" under the dress I want to wear for Easter. They also have some more regular looking panties. Perhaps these would work for everyday wear? You can check them out on the Nordstrom's website.

I've worn them for special occasions also. But I can tell you that apparently many celebraties wear them after having kids for the same reasons you are thinking about it. :)

Gwenyth Paltrow claims to have worn layered support clothes both in early pregnancy and after having Apple..up to three pairs at a time

Support undergarments always seem to give me heartburn. I couldn't wear them everyday. I will for special occasions if I'm wearing something that is a little clingy.

I wear everyday (at work, not on weekends, etc.) for a smooth line - some I got at Nordstroms, others at Target. I think I've become addicted to the "smooth line." I'm in the process of TTC, so before I actually "show," and instead just look bigger, I'll definately be wearing shapewear.

When I worked, I wore controltop hose or shapewear that went below the knees every day. My clothes fit a lot better. I too liked the smooth line under my clothes and there was no way I wanted my butt jiggling as I walked down the hall.

I wanted to point out what might be another benefit. Since I wore them every day it was kind of like support hose on my legs. I am 40 years old (almost 41) and I do not have any spider veins or any kind of veins on my legs. My sister who is 2 years younger than me never wears hose and her legs look terrible. All of my friends my age have some kinds of obvioius veins. Of course I have no scientific proof, but I think the hose and shapewear helped my legs stay vein free, so I am glad I wore them as much as I did!
