I know I'm not the only one here...

I have a 60 undead priest, Kathania, on Bloodhoof. Also, Luana, 29 nightelf druid, on Cenarius. I'm working on leveling a nightelf rougue, Kathiania, on Cenarius as well.

Who's next? :D

I love WOW :p

But soccer moms and tree hugging hippies don't. Or women who are intellectual snobs and other various tyes of women that make me want to vomit :p

I have a level 12 Tauren druid on Bloodhoof and a 7 night elf druid on cenarius.

I dont like first person shooters but I do like RPG games like this :)

uumm, i had a lot of characters, but my main was a level 40 female elf warior that was totally pimped out in the most powerful armour - ha, because I was a girl and had a lot of "sugar daddies" out there that would give me money and armour :p
pays to be a newbie girl playing and finding some shmoe out there willing to take you under his wings! ;)

I really need to get you in the guild on Cenarius, Dar - they're awesome about helping. Go to liquidcouragebrewing.com, and follow their app directions...I'll have to sponsor you (their rules of membership have changed since I first joined). It's kind of a PITA, but meh, we'll make it work. :p

WoW is the one I haven't tried.

B and I are playing through NWN right now. We finished the Original Campaign (last night!) and now we're working on Shadows of Undrentide. WoW could be on the horizon, however... as there's a Mac version of that one, and B has a Mac. At this point, I don't see myself playing any games that B can't play with me.

Maplekitty, if you think GeekGirl's "such a geek" for playing WoW, I think my geek resume might really freak you out. :p

GeekGirl, I'm surprised you don't recognize my avatar (http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/romjul.php)...

GeekGirl
04-11-2006, 05:41 AM
LOL I recognize it - though completely to the credit of Dar.

How are you liking NWN? I wasn't terribly impressed by the original campaign...but the expansions are much much much better. Also, from what I hear, there are some really good player-made modules floating around the internet. I downloaded a couple of them, but have yet to play them.

I like to take games like NWN with me on long plane rides, etc. Cuz lord knows you can't rely on it for multiplayer purposes. (This was originally why I got NWN - Dar and I wanted something to play together, and at the time playing WoW together just wasn't an option. Multiplayer NWN should be the coolest thing ever. Like, if it would work. )

LMAO I love that video! Impressive editing! This (http://www.stupidvideos.com/video/video/stunts/dungeons_and_dragons/) one is not WoW related, but is funny enough to share anyway.

I other news, I think we may be buying a new tower. My FH's computer has been on its last legs for more than a year now, and when I say it's currently held together by duct tape and paperclips, I'm not even kidding. I should be getting a bonus from work in the next couple of weeks, and we talked about using it to replace his desktop.

Which is the responsible thing to do, because really, his computer will die before mine will. But dammit, I want a new computer too...:p :D

Janey
04-11-2006, 08:44 AM
Before I say anything else - I just wanted to say that typing this stuff out, I feel like my girlie-world (wedding planning/babies/house decorating) is colliding with my gamer-geek world and it's freaking me out a little. :p

Re: New Computer ... Dude, I just bought a Dell! It's an E510 with practically every upgrade I could do... we used a 30% off coupon sarahncraig posted for me in the Coupons & Freebies thread. It arrived yesterday, but I haven't hooked it up yet because my monitor doesn't work - but I didn't buy a monitor with my Dell because they ran out of the 20"W before I could hit the BUY button. So now I get to run around to different Costcos today hoping I can find a coupon for this one (http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11104098&whse=BC&topnav=&browse=), since the Costco we went to last night was out of coupons.

When Windows95 came out, I decided I wanted a Win95-Ready computer. I could build 'em cheaper than I could buy 'em back then, so that's what I did. Bought all the parts & put it together. That's the same box I have sitting here. All the guts (except the sound card) are different, but it's the same box. Now, I can't build 'em any cheaper than Dell can, so they got my money this time.

My new computer has a remote control. heheeh.

Anyway - NWN. I think it is the BEST. GAME. EVER. I've always liked those Bioware guys - way back since BG. They just plain make a good game. I tried to play NWN over the internet with my friend Venture, before I met B. But I got sort of frustrated over the text interface. We tried using MS GameVoice, but that sort of sucked as well .. and if you can't talk to your team, it's frustrating. But playing NWN on the LAN with the love of your life sitting 2 feet away so the text interface doesn't matter anyway? BEST. GAME. EVER.

B calls his wedding ring his "Ring of Protection +5" and I giggle. The other day he turns to me as we're driving over to my parents house for dinner and says, "So I was driving back from the jobsite yesterday, stuck in traffic... and I was thinking about our fight with the Baldak. I think if you drank a Potion of Speed... and then you ran in there and plinked him with your bow and ran real fast back around the wall to me, then he'd follow you out and THEN we could kill him."

I love, love, love that we've found a game that we can play together.

The idea of NWN is beautiful. You pick your team. You don't have to deal with the w4nkers that always come with MMOGs, pking, ganking, and cheating. You pick your own team and you set up a time to play, and you play for a couple of hours, hit save, and you're free to go to bed/read a book/play with the kids/mow the lawn/whatever. You don't have to field phone calls at half past midnight because Venril Sathir happened to pop and the other 40 people in your raid are counting on you to tank. And Bioware had the foresight to release a toolset, so now there's 80 zillion player-made modules out there. The possibilities of gameplay are endless! They've got my money until I either run out of game, or something with better graphics comes along.

NWN2 is close on the horizon, but it was developed under DirectX, which makes a Mac version unlikely, which means my play of it is unlikely. Can't begin to tell you how sad that makes me. But anyway, what that means is that we're more apt to follow the NWN-->WoW path.

I keep telling Raph that NWN or games like it is where our demographic is going. I hope now that he's out of SOE he'll do something cool like that.

ETA - Yeah, I didn't like the Hamlet one either. I've been carrying around this avatar forever ... I'm surprised nobody has PM'ed me and said, "So you're a geek too, huh?" But it hasn't happened yet. :p

How the hell did I miss this thread. I am SOOOOOOOO happy to see that there are other women who play MMORPGs with their husbands. DH and I have been playing WOW since it came out. He has a lvl 60 Troll shaman (among other assorted characters) and I have a lvl 32 Undead mage. He plays a lot more than i do, but on the weekends when we're too broke to go out (which is every weekend lately) we play all night long, lol. I used to get annoyed with it, but now that i'm more into it, it's so much fun to play together.

My DH does this on a regular basis, lol. we discuss WOW in RL all the time. It's hysterical.

Wow ladies! <3

GeekGirl - Yes I saw the new alliance race expansion, I noticed it when I was checking out the E3 up dates on gamespot this morning. hehe I'm dork and proud of it. =)

Anyhow, I'm a bit new to this board, but excited to see some wow-ers. I quit my subscription a moth or so ago because all of my friends quit playing. I only seemed to play when the little boys were out and it got really annoying after awhile, not only no one showed up for guild events and I couln't do any of the raiding zones, and I love raiding.

Most likely I'll start up again once the expantion is released.

I had/have Alliance - NE 60 hunter, NE 37 priest - Warsong
I also have a number of Hoard chars on various realms, but they never got really high I couldn't handle the barrens chat with out someone else to laugh at it.

My boyfriend HATES wow or any other mmorpgs, so I'm a little odd that I got in to wow all by my self. I used to play everquest with a ranger as a main.

I was a nightly player, but you know life got in the way for a bit.

What server are you on, horde or alliance?

Ps. I'm guessing since you raid you use TS or vent? If you do what headset do you use? I *try* to use a logitech USB headset but every time I put it on and try to take it off it gets stuck in my hair and rips out huge chunks of hair.

edit -
<--- needs to imporve post reading, I found your guild and server. ^_^

we're on cenarius (Sp?) server and they mainly do alliance races. There are people that play from all time zones pretty much, and GG & I mainly play at night. I have teamspeak but I have to get a microphone, but I can hear everyone through my speakers.

And well, people kill themselves for all sort of stupid things. One killed himself because his everquest crush rejected him. One went nuts on his family because his pally kept getting pk'ed. Meh

Welcome, nooblet!! Yay, another nerd from Michigan! That's where I am, and Dar is moving here this summer. Where are you at? Do you do tabletop games? It would pwn if we could get a tabletop game going this summer. :D

As Dar said, I'm currently on Cenarius leveling two toons, a NE druid (Luana) and a NE rogue (Kathiania). I also have a 60 undead priest and a myriad of other alts on Bloodhoof, but I rarely go there anymore. Our guild on Cenarius, Liquid Courage, r0xx0rz my 50xx0rz - and that's good enough for me!

I usually sign in around 8 or 9 most weeknights, and I sign in off and on most of the weekend - so if you want to roll a toon on our server, by all means send me a /t!

My DH, Kroy, showed me a hilarious video (http://mordots.com/) that I thought I'd share. Be sure to check out the animated version. Teehee!

Kroy's had TS for a while, but I just recently downloaded it onto my laptop - um, as in last night. I have a Logitech headset, I got it from Best Buy for like $26. Noob, you may want to check Best Buy - they had some that were clip-over-the-ear headsets that might be more comfortable for you. I don't think they were too expensive.

So how's about some FLYING MOUNTS in the expansion? :D

GG - I'm around the Grand Rapids area. I have not done any table top games, tho I am up for trying. I did try dungons and dragons once, but the DM aggitated me to the point of never wanting to play again. (it was a lot of "you are walking though the desert and you come across a snow yeti")

the name r0xx0rz my 50xx0rs made me smile =)

How did I miss this thread? Maybe we just need a gaming geeks general thread. :D I have a 60 dwarf hunter on Argent Dawn along with other alts, and several 20-30 Horde chars on Laughing Skull. Although, I did cancel my subscription for a while in preparation for babyhood.

I'm also an ex-EQ person, I had a 60-something ranger and a few other 50+ chars. Did that for a good 5 years, I have NO desire to go back to it. DH still plays though, he has a 70 necro in a raiding guild and several 60+ chars.

Not really playing anything now, except A Bard's Tale on occasion. Been thinking about re-installing Diablo 2. On one hand I want to find something to pique my interest, but then again I KNOW I'm gonna be busy with baby, so I don't want to get too involved....

Tabletops... I've played plenty of D&D, but nothing 3rd edition. Also played Shadowrun & Earthdawn on occasion. I actually have some ties to D&D... I'm from the city that TSR was in, and my dad and many of his friends did game testing for them. So D&D was pretty much a staple of my life back in the day. :)

Hubby and I just started playing it about a week ago. I am a level 5 or 6 priest on alliance (died 1 time, got attacked from behind while killing another creature. He wanted to get into something that we both could play, since he use to play EQ all the time and I tried it one day, just couldn't get use to it.
