I figured this might belong here (as opposed to Home) b/c we are really looking for something to clean up the gifts our cat has been leaving us. Not sure what is going on, but for the last 3 days we have woken up to messes needing to be cleaned up.

Wednesday was vomit and diarrhea (sorry for the TMI) and yesterday and today appears to be just the latter. DIfferent places too - this morning it was on white carpet.

Even though I go after it with carpet cleaner, I feel like we're not really getting it all out and we might be better off getting a steam cleaner for home (maybe not though)

Any thoughts? Recommended steam cleaners? Not looking for anything too $$ - but this carpet needs to last us a long time so I would like it to be clean :)

Thanks!

I have a Bissell steam cleaner. They make a cleaning solution just for pets.

I used to have a Hoover steam cleaner, but I wore it our (3 kids and a dog will do that!) The Hoover was good, too.

I too have a Bissell steam cleaner and it did a great job just last week on doggy vomit on the rug. My dog always seems to aim for the rugs, not the hardwood, so the steam cleaner has been a useful investment.

We just got the Bissell SpotBot cleaner and it works wonderfully! We also have a new puppy and are cleaning up accidents all the time it seems. It can sit right on top of the area to be cleaned and run it's cycle without you doing anything. Or you can use the handheld attachment to clean smaller areas.

DH ordered that zero odor stuff you see on TV. I am skeptical, but I'll let you know how it works

I have a Hoover Steamvac that I paid around $300ish for. It has paid for itself many times over. I use it all the time. It works great on the messes. I've never had a permanent stain, despite some extremely nasty messes. It also works great just cleaning up the general dirt that my two large dogs drag in and also on the spots where they like to sleep. I love that thing. I've had it about 3-4 years and it still works great.

I have the bissell too (not the spotbot, but the full size one) and we love it. For about a week or so, we had a combo of vomit and hairballs for a week (just switched their food) and this took care of it all) Even got out the orange juice dh "forgot" to clean up for a week:rolleyes:
