I just went to my first class the other night and I love it! Anyone else do this?

Here is a descrption about it....Bikram yoga is a demanding series of 26 postures (asanas) that works the entire body for 90 minutes. The class is performed in a systematic and specific order to facilitate the delivery of fresh oxygenated blood to 100% of your body, restoring all systems to healthy working order, just as nature intended. The 26 postures are performed in a heated room allowing you to work deeper into your muscles and connective tissue.

Bikram yoga is the perfect marriage of strength, flexibility, and balance. With a consistent practice - proper weight, muscle tone, vibrant good health and a sense of well-being will follow.

I am so amazed by anyone who can do this. The heat is way too much for me. I went to a Chamber event at a studio once and walked in the yoga room and they had the heat on and I had to walk right out.

I've done it and although I enjoyed the classes, if I wasn't well hydrated it always made me ill.

Thanks for the replies!

Regarding the heat...at my first class I had to lay down a few times because I was gettng a little dizzy. My friend that went with me did great in the class but then threw up when she got home.:( I drink about 96 oz of water throughout the day before I go to class and then have a small snack like fruit or yogurt about 2 hours prior and I think that helps. You also have to eat very healthy and balanced that day because if you eat junk you may get sick.

I love this and am planning on going at least 2 times a week hopefully 3. I also feel like it is a great stress reliever. It is expensive though.

I do "hot yoga" once a week. It's not as hot as bikram but it's still pretty warm and we do the same bikram poses. I love it. I would love to try bikram but there aren't any studios in my area that offer it.

I do Bikram yoga about 4x a week. I love the studio and the teachers and now can't imagine life without getting my yoga fix. :D

Since I have been doing Bikram yoga (about 8 months), I don't need to see a chiropractor anymore for my TMJ.

I'm actually thinking about getting certified. However, it won't be a Bikram certification because his training runs around $6k.

I tried it before I was pg. I wanted to like it. I tried to like it. But I hated it.

lml41981 I hear ya on that...I have kind of a love/hate relationship with it. But I feel so good after I am done!

Bikram is insane, it does wonders for the body. I cannot say enough wonderful things about it! I lost about 20 pounds, got so strong, migraines went away, I just felt like a million bucks. I did it for about 2 years. I cannot afford it right now - but as soon as finances improve I will be back!!!
