no, it was disappointing to me. it had a good premise but really seemed to drag. also, i couldn't get attached to many of the characters.

I agree, it was disappointing. I have the book but I haven't read it yet because the movie was just blah.

I appreciate what the film was trying to do and I enjoyed the acting.... but I just didn't connect emotionally with the characters. I wanted to love them and cry for them, but it all just felt a little distant.

The cinematography was nice, the setting and some of the political stuff interesting, but overall I was disappointed as well.

I liked it, but I had no idea what the story was about so in a way I was happily surprised...well, not too happy since it's a sad story, but you know ;)

I didn't read the book either. At least I'm not the only one who didn't like it!

I saw it yesterday and thought it was GREAT. It's a little long for anyone used to seeing :90 flicks, I admit.
