We live in Northern California, and are planning a small, intimate wedding and thought Tahoe would be an excellent place to get married. We've been a few times (never for wedding planning) and love it there. I've tried looking online for chapels, venues but all I'm finding are cheesy 'vegas style' places. Anyone actually have any experience getting married/going to a wedding in Tahoe?

I didn't, but my sister did at the Edgewood Golf Course. It was absolutely beautiful

A friend of mine got married on the "beach" a couple of years ago. I never saw photos or anything, so I can't say if it was nice or not, but... it's an idea.

My SIL will be getting married at Chambers Landing this June. She's having ~300 people at her wedding.

Ooooh thanks for the info ladies ;)
We're planning a tiny wedding (less than 40 people) but we still want it to be nice.

My BIL and SIL got married on the beach in Tahoe - it was nice, pretty casual (they were both barefoot). It was the second marriage for both of them, so they didn't want anything too elaborate. They just booked out a restaurant for the reception, which was fine. I'd say they probably had about 40 people. The wedding was in September, I think, so it was past the height of summer touist season, and easier to find cheap places to stay.

My best friend got married on a cliff in Tahoe. I'll ask her who she booked her wedding with.

My cousin got married in Lake Tahoe last summer. She got married at a conference center whose name escapes me at the moment. The center was on the beach and had a deck where the ceremony was held and a hall for the reception.
I know it's about a mile from the Nevada border, down the hill from the CalNeva resort, where we stayed.
My relatives stayed at the Hyatt. It was lovely and not cheesy. I'm sure they could accomodate you.
Good Luck and congratulations!

That sounds like the Edgewood! It's a beautiful place, unfortunately they have a minimum of 60 guests.

My sister also got married there and I believe it was at the same golf course that Gayle posted. I think she had around 30 guests there though but that was also three years ago so maybe that has changed.

Five years ago we looked at getting married up there, but ended up in Maui instead. I don't know what your budget is like, but the Hyatt is absolutely gorgeous and would make a great wedding site. So would Squaw.
