I am currently lusting after this for my sweet three fur children

* Condo comfort and the fun of an amusement park - 3-story climbing tower, snugly cradle, detachable ladder
* 2 carpeted scratching pillars help keep nails in shape
* Catnip treated for added attraction
It's $200 though...not in the budget this month!

Oh man, I lust after just about everything in the Drs Foster and Smith Catalog (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/NavResults.cfm?N=2002+2010)
We have a dinky little 2 cubby thing (that I can't find on their website now) that's great, but Tildy really likes to scratch on it in one spot and the carpet's starting to wear away there.
Here's a pic:

My cats LOVE their sisal scratching posts! They tear them to shreds so I have to buy new ones about every 2 years, but I am of the belief that having a scratching post that is not covered with carpet helps train the cats not to associate the carpet on the floor with an okay-scratching place. Our cats hardly ever scratch on our carpets - our our furniture for that matter! :)
Here's a post like the one we have currently (not this exact one, but very similar):
http://www.stepsforpets.com/GreenDuck%20Pictures/GD68.jpg
I get the tallest one I can find usually, because my older cat really likes to reach up & stretch her back & legs when she scratches. They usually scratch at the very top of the post, regardless of how tall of one we have. Currently I think the one we've got is over 30" tall!
Another thing our cats love is their window seat:

This bed has lasted for years & they still love it. It's pretty inexpensive (around $35, I think), is easy to assemble, & is durable.
Here are my girls actually SHARING the window bed - hee hee!

Those are pretty much the only pieces of cat furniture we have around here. Tons of TOYS...but no other furniture. ;)

Has anyone seen the Cat House (http://www.thecatshouse.com/html/cathouse/house/01%20column/ch__col_01.htm)
Make sure to check out all the rooms. It's a cat's paradise.

I've seen instructions online for making them- I love them as well but they are so expensive!

Sazoo - we used to have that window seat! Tildy LOVED it! But there was no window we could put it in in our house, so we gave it to a friend.

Sazoo - we used to have that window seat! Tildy LOVED it! But there was no window we could put it in in our house, so we gave it to a friend. My cats love it - Ginger, in particular, sits there all the time! One time though, she got spooked because the landscaping people were messing around outside the window when she was sleeping in the window bed, & since the blinds were closed she didn't know what the source of the noise was so she sort of freaked out. After that she refused to sit up there for weeks. Finally she got over her fear though, & now she takes naps in the window all the time. I don't know what I'd do if we moved to a house that didn't have a window where we could put this up for our babies!
Having three cats, we found this to be a moral imperative. The cats love it. While this is expensive, figure they'll have it for a very long time. This was something like $250, but over the course of 4 years and with 3 cats, we figure that's $20 per year, per cat ;)

They use it all the time and sometimes fight for the spots. The eyes peering out of the top is indeed a cat!

We also have the post that emschwar posted - it's the perfect height to put in front of the window.
We'll probably downgrade the tree soon since the cats are getting older and Bailey struggles to get to the top - we're afraid he'll fall. It was great while it lasted though!

Our cat is a fraidy cat! DH bought her a sortive cat house that has two platforms on it and all of these balls hanging from strings (can't find a similar picture online)-she has never gone on it once. What's up with that????
And THEN we bought her a bed like this:
http://www.petco.com/assets/product_images/4/4399305033A.jpg
She used to sleep with us, but we got a ceiling fan installed above our bed and she is deathly afraid of the thing and rarely comes on our bed anymore. So, we got her the bed and put it outside our door and she slept in it every night for a few months and sometimes would spend the entire day in it! One day out of the blue, she peed in it! I have no idea why she did that as she never goes anywhere but in her box. We washed the material, but I'm sure she must still be able to smell the pee because she hasn't gone near it since.

Leslie,
I had a cat do that once - pee in their kitty bed - & he never slept there ever again, no matter how many times we washed it.
I've given up on buying cat beds (other than our window seat, posted above). I used to try to by all sorts of cute snuggly little kitty beds to set around the house for our cats, but I finally learned that they want to sleep wherever THEY want to sleep...not where I want them to! So now I pretty much let them fend for themselves as far as finding good sleeping spots, & they seem to do just fine. In fact, one of 'em sleeps on MY pillow a lot of nights! Nothing like waking up to a face full of fur, or a cat stepping on your hair, or a cat tickling your face with its whiskers... :p

i bought this from ebay:http://i23.ebayimg.com/04/i/04/5e/9b/e8_2.JPG
but our cat barely touched it. but it's modular, so i was able to take it apart and rearrange the pieces to make something that our cat now loves and uses every day.
we also bought a ledge for the window and put a bird feeder right outside. katie spends hours laying there watching the cars go by and the birds feed. and of course, we bought a cat bed... she never used it until one day i noticed she couldn't find a comfy spot in our computer room and would meow a lot... so we brought the kitty bed upstairs and bingo, she now lounges there whenever we use our computers.

I've been really wanting to get one of these. I'm really trying to keep the cat off the furniture, but when she gets down near the ground, the dog chases her. I'm hoping this will be the perfect solution! They sure are expensive, though.

We have this one.
http://www.petco.com/assets/product_images/4/4770715065B.jpg
It's around $120 now, but it was on clearance at petco while i worked there, plus I got a 20% employee discount, so I only paid about $35 for it. Eventually I want to get a large one. Dh has said that he could build one for me, but that was about 2 years ago  so i don't see it happening anytime soon.
cookie I have a kitty exactly like yours! I don't see too many of the flame points around. I'd post a pic, but shutterfly isn't working at the moment. grrrr
