Do they still sell this series? I loved these books as a young girl and would love to buy them to give to my daughter one day...

I loved these books! Too bad mine all burned in a fire when I was in high school.

I loved them too - still re-read them when I visit my parents :)

The author has stopped writing new ones, and they can sometimes be hard to find in a bookstore. I think your best bet would be to look on ebay, especially to find the earliest books - I've seen lots of 40-50 Ann Martin books for very reasonable prices.

I just checked and they have several on Amazon.com.

I loved these books too! I read nearly every single one until I got too old and they weren't challenging enough.

I used to own every book between 1-63, and then I only bought the ones about Mary Anne and Kristy. Mainly because I wanted to see what was going on with their boyfriends, Logan and Bart.

So very sad. :o

Anyway, I tried to find BSC books not too long ago because I thought my niece would be interested in reading them. I discovered that I could usually find the box sets in pretty decent condition at used bookstores, but it was much more difficult to find the single books. I guess I would use Amazon.com, as a PP suggested.

I still have copies of the first five Super Specials, but I'm not giving those up without a fight! :D

Good luck and let us know if you find a good source for BSC books! I'd like to buy them to pass on to my (hypothetical) daughter or my nieces.

Oh I loved this series. My parents shipped me some boxes when they moved of my stuff that was still living in their garage, lots of the BSC series books in those boxes. I'm so glad, I'll pass them along to DD.

I have almost the entire series of BSC as well as Little Sister (Kristy's sister). I saved most of them from my childhood and inherited a bunch from a library that was getting rid of the Little Sister editions. Because I'm a school teacher and I knew I would be one, my mom saved all my BSC books from my childhood. I think I owned almost all of them and I even tried to start my own club and... you know your addicted when you've seen the MOVIES!! Does anyone remembger them or am I just crazy?

There were movies? Really??

There was a movie and a really cheesy TV show. The movie came out in 1995 I think?

Oh man, I was in love with the BSC! I used to run my own little lending library out of my locker when I was in junior high. I had just about every book, but I gave them away when I turned 18 and went away to college (all except the Super Specials, I kept those for sentimental reasons).

Oh goodness! I have a ton of these (I had the mail order program) and they're just sitting in storage @ my parents' - PM me if you want any of them. And I would be happy to place a classified ad for it ;)

What a blast from the past! I loved BSC books. I think I still have a few at my parent's house but I haven't read one for a long time.

Summer ~ I too have seen some of the movies. :)

I loved those books! Those girls were in 8th grade for about 10 years. I would have loved it if Ann M. Martin would have continued to age the girls through high school. I'll have to check out amazon to find out what happened to the girls after I stopped reading them.

I had so many, and I bought them all with allowance. I wish I had all that money now, since the books are long gone! I had over 60, plus the Super Specials.

I remember one movie, but I didn't like it because none of the actors looked like what I'd pictured in my head.

I remember feeling bad for Kristy because her stepdad's name was "Watson" and I thought that was the stupidest name ever! I also went through a phase where I tried to dress like Claudia. Let's pretend the day I went to school dressed like a grape didn't happen. :o

ginastorm, Ann M. Martin did write a few books about Dawn going to HS in California. Actually, only one was about Dawn, and the others were about her other friends in HS. They were all written as diary entries. It was a series that branched off BSC, called "California Diaries" and the titles were just the girls' names.

LOL! I wanted to dress like Claudia, I just couldn't pull off the paper-maiche earring, layered socks with leggings look. :)

*raises hand* I have the movies somewhere on VHS. Yup - my sister and I loved to watch them.

I think my mom saved my BSC books, but they are probably so trashed after years of borrowing them out, moving, re-reading, etc. Hmm - maybe I'll have to call mom and see if she still has them or if they didn't make it through the last move.

I loved these books. Haven't thought about them in YEARS. After some searching I've found two interesting things.

1. If you a netflix member, they've got the movie!

2. Here's the list of all the BSC books. http://www.scholastic.com/annmartin/bsc/babysitters.pdf
I didn't know there were so many.

I noticed the other day that the used bookstore by my house had tons of BSC books. Two shelves full. I wanted to buy them, but I need to check first and see if my old ones are at my mom's house.

Loved them!

I still have a bunch of them, but I did give some of them away.

Amazon (or sellers on Amazon) have quite a few of them here (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/ref=br_ss_hs/104-8801724-6153535?platform=gurupa&url=index%3Dstripbooks%3Arelevance-above&field-keywords=baby+sitter%27s+club).

I looked at the list that Sarah051504 posted a link to. I didn't even realize there was an Abby in the series. I guess I grew out of reading them before she came along.

Abby? Who the heck is Abby? I guess I stopped reading a while before they were finished.

Abby was the new girl (Jewish, had a twin sister, and her father had passed away - because as you know, every club member was bringing some kind of diversity to the table!).

My brother has even read some of the books "out of boredom" - we'd joke about future titles like "Mary-Anne and the Unexpected Teen Pregnancy" or "Claudia and the Trouble with Drugs". Alas, these books will never be...

I checked that PDF list, and I stopped reading them around book 62 or 63. Wow, I can't believe they went on so much longer! The plots were wearing pretty thin by the time I gave them up, I can't imagine the last 40-some books.

I remember when there was a contest to "name the new babysitter" (Abby), but that was around the time I stopped reading them.

I own a bunch of books between 1 and 83, 5 mysteries (although I never finished reading "Stacey & the mystery at the Empty House" because it scared me too much!) and 2 super specials, and used to have the movie. I think I may have read some of the little sister books. I also read way more books than I own (checked them out of the library frequently). Maybe I'll start rereading some of the ones I own (and get some out of the library :p).

If I ever have daughters, I'm going to get them all the books. I loved reading them as a kid.

When I was 9 years old, I was reading the book where Stacey's family tells her they're moving back to New York (I think that's how the plot line goes). Anyway, they tell Stacey they have some good news for her, and she goes "You're having a baby!!!" and she's all excited and they have to tell her the good news is that they're moving to NY, and she isn't happy about that.

Well, one summer morning I was reading that book in bed, and had just finished that scene, when my mom calls my brother and I into her room. We go in, and she goes "I have good news for you," and I just blurt out "you're having a baby!"

My mom goes  and is like "how did you know?"

And I responded "c'mon, Mom, what's the real news."

"I'm pregnant. We're going to have a baby."

"Seriously, Mom. What's the real news."

"That IS the real news. I'm having a baby."

I guess finally I believed her, because the baby is now 17...

But we still tell that story, and how the Babysitters Club made me clairvoyant.

I was such a BSC fan - and I got my sister hooked into them too. I think our whole collection lives with my 12-year old cousin now.

My local library has a ton of them, including a lot of the more recent ones, and I spent an hour or so reading the backs of them to see what happened to them. Apparently a few dozen books before the end, everyone except the original girls quits the BSC, so it's down to the original four. And the last book is when they *finally* graduate the eighth grade - apparently the last book is pretty expensive on Amazon...

I love love loved the BSC books. I was so into it, my mom would take me to the book store on the 15th of every month to get the new book when it came out. It was the highlight of my day. I had all of them up to the mid 60s and then a few up until 100. At that point, I think they started renumbering the books or something. It was weird. I was a junior in HS by that point, and a bit old for the books :( I know my mom saved all of mine and I'd love to fill in the collection and have all of them.

I was a member of the official BSC fan club. I got a poster and everything! I also had the board game, some of the videos (they were so, so cheesy, even worse than the BSC feature film) and even some stationary. I never used the stationary, I was saving it. And then I grew up before I used any of it. Oops.

OH yeah, BSC, Sweet Valley, Saddle Club, I have such fond memories!! :D

I do know that the two used bookstores in town have literally SHELVES of these hanging out! My little sister (11) is now into them, it's strange to see her reading the same thigns I did so many years ago!

This was my favorite series when I was young! So of course I had to look on Amazon for them after I started reading this thread. It seems Ann M. Martin made a spin-off of the original books. After the last book, which dropped the club down to the original 4 (I think its called "graduation day"), the new series is called "BSC Friends Forever". If you do a search on Amazon these newer books should come up. From what the reviews say, these books are supposed to be more realistic and mature than the older ones. The new series has actual real people on the cover, whcih I don't like because I always liked the illustation on the originals.

Wow...this brings back memories! I used to read all the books. Myself and three friends had our own "babysitters club"...lol. I was "Claudia" and on day we had a substitue she handed out name tags and all four of us wrote our BSC names on them. :p

We eventually were told we couldn't have our club anymore at school beacause other girls were getting jealous. Ahhh, the trials and tribulations of 5th graders....lol.

I also remember the movie that came out - and I remember the song they came up so stacy (I think) could remember the parts of the brain.

I'd LOVE to find some of the old books to have for any future daughters I might have.

OMG this is too funny! I loved BSC! I loved Stacy and Claudia. My sister, a friend, and I actually went around our neighborhood passing out flyers for babysitting jobs and we were the "Babysitters Club" lol I definitely need to ask my aunt if she still has my books so I can give them to DD. ;)
