- Common TTC abbreviations
This is a list of some of the more common TTC abbreviations. I know as a newcomer to the TTC threads, it can be hard to keep them all straight. I hope these will help, and if anyone has any they would like added, please let me know!
•2WW: "2 week wait" - The approximate time from possible conception to menstruation due date; Pregnancy tests should be taken near the end of the 2WW.
•AF: "Aunt Flo"; Your period; Menstruation
•AFNW: "Aunt Flo Not Wanted"; the day your period is expected to start, but you are hoping it doesn't!
•AO: anovulatory (cycle without ovulation)
•BBs: "boobs"; breasts
•BBL: "be back later"
•BBT: Basal Body Thermometer; This is used to measure your basal body temperature, when you wake up in the morning, after at least 3 hours of sleep, before you start to move around; Use a special BBT thermometer to take your temperature because they measure the small changes in temperature from day to day more accurately than the regular fever thermometers.
•BCP: Birth control pills
•BD'ing: "baby dancing"; baby-making intercourse
•BFN: "Big Fat Neutral" or “Big Fat Negative”; Negative pregnancy test.
•BF'ing: breast-feeding
•BRB: "be right back"
•CD: cycle day; a particular day in your menstrual cycle (example: CD1 is the first day of your period)
•CL: Cover Line; a visual tool used to separate the low (pre-ovulatory) temps from high (post-ovulatory) temps; a coverline is typically based on the temperatures 6 days prior to ovulation.
•CM: cervical mucous; one of the most useful clues your body can give you in predicting your fertility; it can range from dry, creamy, sticky, or (the most fertile) egg white/watery type.
•CF: cervical fluid; same as cervical mucus
•CP: cervical position; an optional, but sometimes really useful, fertility sign; CP will generally be low, firm and closed before and after ovulation, and high, soft and open during your fertile time.
•DD: "dear daughter"
•DH: "dear husband"
•DS: "dear son"
•DPO: Days Past Ovulation; number of days from your post-ovulatory temperature rise. (Example: 1DPO is the day after your ovulation)
•Endo: endometriosis (can be a fertility problem)
•EDC and EDD: estimated date of confinement (antiquated, but still used by physicians) and estimated date of delivery
•EPT: a brand of pregnancy test, or, generic for "early pregnancy test"
•EW or EWCM: egg white cervical mucus; the most fertile quality CM; it is slippery, clear and stretchy, like egg whites; also EWCF
•FAM: Fertility Awareness Method; the method of fertility and/or birth control that correlates the physical changes you experience during your cycle to predict when you are most fertile
•FF: Fertility Friend, an online (free, for basic services) fertility charting site (website); (could also be formula feeding; check context)
•FM: fertility monitor
•FMU: first morning urine
•FP: follicular phase; the phase before ovulation, where the egg matures in the ovaries
•FRED: First Response Early Detection (pregnancy test)
•HCG: human chorionic gonadotropin; the hormone that is present during pregnancy and what the HPT's and blood test measure to determine if you are pregnant
•HTH: "hope that helps"
•HPT: home pregnancy test; a urine pregnancy test you can take at home
•IMHO: "in my humble opinion"
•IMO: "in my opinion"
•IUI: intra-uterine insemination
•IVF: in vitro fertilization
•KU: knocked up
•LH: leutenizing hormone; the LH surge is what is measured by the OPKs; this hormone signals the egg to burst from the ovary
•LP: luteal phase; the phase of your cycle that begins just after ovulation and continues for 10-18 days, ending with the start of your next period; during the LP, your body continues to build up the lining of your uterus, and produce hormones which would support a pregnancy; this is the time when a fertilized egg can implant into the uterine lining
MBFP Mystery big fat positive- When you see a BFP in someone’s chart but they haven’t announced it yet
•NFP: Natural Family Planning; similar to FAM, but with abstinence during the fertile period
•O, Oing, Oed: ovulation, ovulating, or ovulated
•OPK: ovulation predictor kit; tests for presence of LH surge that usually precedes ovulation by 12-48 hours; these tests are quite expensive and not always accurate (if you take medication or depending on your age); these are optional when charting with FF, but if your fertility data is not clear it can bring more light and help interpret difficult cases
•OS: Ovusoft; charting software based on TCOYF
•PCOS: polycystic ovarian syndrome (a fertility problem)
•PG: pregnant
•PIAC: pee in a cup
•POAS: pee on a stick
•RE: reproductive endocrinologist
•SA: semen analysis
•SH: "sweet husband"
•SO: "significant other"
•SYS, SYL : See ya soon! or See ya later!
•TCOYF: Taking Charge Of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler; a book and website about charting and fertility.
•TMI: "too much information" - There is no such thing when TTC!
•TTA: "trying to avoid"
•TTC: "trying to conceive"
•TTFN: "ta-ta for now"
•TTYL, TTYS: "talk to you later" or "talk to you soon"

I have a question. Why is it that we have to wait until after our first AF (or longer) to start trying again? What would happen? Just curious

I have a question. Why is it that we have to wait until after our first AF (or longer) to start trying again? What would happen? Just curious
I know they typically want you to wait until after your first AF so that *if* you were to get pregnant that next month they would be better able to pinpoint when you ovulated. If you go from having a m/c to being pregnant w/o AF in between it would be much harder to know how to date the pregnancy. (For example, in my case it has been almost 2 months since my m/c without AF, if I had gotten pregnant it would be hard to know when that happened.) Does that make sense?
I think sometimes doctors recommended waiting longer to help you heal emotionally as well as make sure that things are back to normal physically. I know that my doctor wants me to be taking prenatals and an additional folic acid supplement once we start TTC.
HTH!

Current status: BFP today!!!!!!
It is CD42 and I have finally decided to test. Last night, I was doing more "research" as to why I still had CM at this late stage of my cycle and found that this could be a symptom of hypothyroidism. Quite soon after finding that out, I started obsessing about the symptoms I may or may not have. So I decided that I needed to know what was going on with my body. If I got a BFN, I will make an appt with the dr to see what's wrong.
Happily, it turned out to be a BFP.
Thank you'sI know most of the ladies from the other thread have not joined and I wanted to be sensitive to the request that we keep announcements like this out of that other thread, but I would like to thank everyone for all the support, baby dust and good thoughts that were sent my way. They were very helpful in making the last 2 weeks bearable.

Honestly, I just try to get by day by day. It is very difficult. I have been having some very sharp pains and went in yesterday as I was freaked about a ectopic. We turns out it was just a cyst. But at least I got to see the sac. Next week we will hopefully see the HB. But honestly, I just try to even forget I am pg, makes time fly by a bit faster. It helps I don't have many symptoms yet. I think the 1st few days after finding out were the most difficult but now I am getting better at dealing with it.

Congratulations Franni!
Awesome news. I would like to re-join as well. I haven't been able to keep up with things as much as I wanted to in the old thread, and was sad to see how quickly this thread moved (b/c of new members, not because of what people had to say.)

Me: Kirsten, 35

Married since: 05/22/04
Off BCP since: February 2005.

Known issues/test results: Mild PCOS, Had a M/C at 8 weeks on 12/31/05
Chart: My FF chart (http://www2.fertilityfriend.com/home/ae6c8)
Current status: In the 2 week wait...
This wait to test is killing me. I finally got my period again on February 18, 7 weeks after the miscarriage. I was so excited to begin again. I took Clomid (100 mg) and metformin, which my doctor thinks will help prevent early pregnancy loss. And then I waited...and waited... The last time I was on that dose of Clomid, I ovulated on CD16, which is INSANELY early for me, and I got pregnant. This time, I didn't ovulate until day 27...and now I am in the wait. The good: We BD'd a lot, and the timing was good. The bad: still no EWCM, though I did try Pre-seed. So, we will see, but I swear that clock is creeping...
Thanks for starting the new thread!

I am joining this thread in hopes it will get me out of my "funk"...I have been really stressed lately that it has been almost a year since my d&C and I am facing the fact its not happening naturally and I am going to have to do to a dr. This is really hard for me due to everyone in my family always having it so easy that they think we are just not trying enough or stressing to much or something everytime it is mentioned. So hopefully hanging out with people that know where I am coming from will help!!!

So, I'm officially TTC now. AF came yesterday afternoon...finally! I've never been so happy for AF to come!
Back in the saddle, right?
silentbunny
03-27-2006, 12:55 PM
Right. ;) Just don't let him know you're referring to him as a "saddle".
I am...hopeful. CD11 today. Tested yesterday and got a BFN, but I am trying not to let that worry me. I may test again tomorrow, even though I should wait until Wednesday at least...
aliannie, sorry about the dumb comments from your family. Mine is basically not talking about it all. I think that's better, but I'm not sure. :(

silentbunny thanks for the good wishes. I feel your waiting game. I got a BFN at 9DPO and that got me so panicked that I "refused to waste" another test. It took lots of days of irrational worry to finally lead me to test again. Crossing all the crossables for you.

Congrats Brenda I think that it is great to have the graudates around to help us non graduates see that there is hope and that someday we will get there too :)
So back to my question about BD and timing after MC is there any real proof that it would be harmful to the baby if we were to conceive right after a MC?
Also, for those of you that had a D&C how long did it take your body to get back to normal or I guess more specifically how long did it take for your first AF to show up?

happy my ob told me that we can start TTC right away after my m/c. So I know the rules are subject to interpretation. I think if you are ready, you should go ahead and just "do" it. I didn't have a d&C but AF didn't show up until almost one month later.
moderator will have to let you know about due date since I don't see my OB until I am 8 weeks along.

no problem ;) franni...just post it in red whenever...
My first doc, my FP doc, told me we could start trying immediatley, b/c I had a chem pg and if i hadnt been charting I would not have know. The new OBGYN i got after the fact told me i should have waited...we didnt try but we didnt avoid either but here we are 3 cycles after the m/c and still trying so I guess its up to each doctor and your circumstances.
I hope this thread brings us lots of BFP's

happy My Dr. said to wait two cycles but said that's just so I have an idea of my cycle so I would be able to date the pregnancy. He also said not to worry if I got pg before then. As for AF, mine came when it normally would have had I not been pg for 2 months. It was interesting, almost like my body was keeping track somehwere in the background.

happy-My dr. said we could start trying immediatly but that my body would be fully recovered in two-three months. Also after my d&c it was 7 weeks until I had a period. An eternity...seriously..it was the last day of the seventh week and they had told me if I didn't start in seven weeks to call and come in and I was hours away from doing that and I started. Since then I have had pretty regular 31-35 day cycles! Oh and my sister got pregnant after a miscarriage..she never even had a period again and my nephew is going to be 3 in two weeks!!!
I am still bored over here but gearing up for some fun...:p !

Just had my 10 week appointment yesterday and I was so nervous going into it! (It was at my 10 week last time that I found out something was wrong.) However, it went so well, I'm still amazed thinking about it now. The whole thing was really quick, weight and blood pressure with the nurse, and then the OB came in and found the heartbeat with the doppler almost immediately. What an amazing sound!
happy I think the only thing with waiting after m/c is the uterus lining may be thinner at first. That's the only thing I've ever heard about. We TTA for 1 cycle, and in the end I'm glad we did because it turned out to be annovulatory, so it would have gotten my hopes up for nothing.

Oh my god.
Did any of you find you had harsher periods after the M/C? I've had one since, that wasn't too bad, but I am on day 1 of my new cycle right now and feel like I am going to die. I don't know if it's post M/C, or med side effects (I was on Clomid and Metformin and a steroid), but I never have problems like this. This is almost as bad as the miscarriage was, pain-wise. Good God.

It has been very slow around here lately. How is everyone doing? I am at CD 26 after my m/c. Hopefully AF will show up soon so that I can move on. My chart is completely wacky this month and i am sure it is just my hormones adjusting but I do think that i have already O'ed so hopefully that mean that AF will be here very soon.

I wanted to post and say that we are also taking a break. We have come to realize that we are going to have to seek professional help and we aren't ready for that yet so we have decided to wait for an undetermined amount of time. I don't think we are going to stop "trying" but we are not going to be trying. This was hard for us but we feel that we need to weigh all our options right now. We are going to both try and lose some weight and get healthy and see if that makes a difference. I wish everyone luck and hope to see some BFP's as I lurk along in this thread!!

Yup, this is us, too. Getting my period this month hit me like a ton of bricks, and it seems like all the emotions came crashing back at me. It's too much to go through all the time. I am doing this one last cycle on Clomid, and then the next step is an RE, but since my research indicates that NOTHING at an RE will be covered by my insurance, we will have to save for a few months before we go. Which makes me sad but also makes me feel a little relieved -- less pressure.
I hope some of you waiting get your wishes granted!

Girls~ everyone is in my thoughts and prayers. This seems like it is so hard for all of us and the fact that our insurances arent covering much isnt helping. We all need to be strong and pray it will happen. Taking a break maybe the answer for some of us and others may have different plans but we just have to believe. There are too many woman here on the CC that tried and tried and then BAM...they are PG. WE have to keep the faith. I always frequent their journals to remind myself that it is possible.

12 weeks, 2 days today - now I'm officially further along than I got last time. :D
pacific Congrats! I had spotting (mostly brown, some pink) for about 4 weeks early this pregnancy, but everything is still going well for me. Call your doctor about it and see if they'd like to do blood draws or something. With a previous loss, they'd probably be willing to do something to reassure you.
polka That's too bad AF is knocking on your door. Hopefully things will go better for you next time, with the combination of the blood work and the fertility monitor. Good luck!

Sorry polkadot. I am not good with charts, when was the first dip? Could this be AF trying to show but still might not? FWIW I was in tears on Tuesday (DH brought me flowers) because I saw pink and figured it was AF, then it went brown on Wednesday and then it went away.
Congrats on the landmark bunnybeth.
I did call my Dr office yesterday. It's a new one because DH's job code changed and so did his insurance. I had to fill out a bunch of paperwork and they confirmed the pg. I told them about the m/c and everyone said, "That was 6 months ago, don't even worry about it, it has nothing to do with this pg". They set up a blood draw appointment for May 2nd and a follow-up for May 9th. In some ways it was reassuring that they are not at all concerned.

I found out at 5W3D when I started spotting that I was pregnant. I got my 'period' on time March 9th but it wasn't as long/hard/crampy as normal but I didn't think anything was up. Well my betas were barely doubling in the beginning then last week I got a killer headache like I used to right before I'd start my period when I was on BCP. Dr said come in for more betas and they were only in the 300s went in for US and they didn't find anything and yesterday the cramping/bleeding started.
How come no one tells you how freaking bad it hurts?!?

Hey girls....this weekend was really tough for me...We had a christening for my newest cousin, AF arrived on Saturday after two days of spotting, the Easter holidays, and to top it off ...my sister who is due due two days after I would have been found out she was having a boy. Who of course will be the first grandson. I know I should be jealous b/c i will get my chance (fingers crossed) but it makes me so sad that we would be at the time in my pregnancy when we would have found out the sex and things would really be kicking into gear. So it was kinda a rough weekend but i am better today...I have to rely on the bloodwork, the monitor (1st cycle with it) and prayer...I hope we get some BFP's in here!!! We need another pick me up!!

polkadot - I am so sorry that you had such a hard weekend. Your time will come and when it does your family will be just as excied for you as they are now for your sister. It is so hard to be patient though. It is hard not to dream about what could have been.
Pacificbliss!!!! - Congrats! I hope that everything goes well for you this time around.
Well AF showed up this weekend. It was hard to see her but at the same time I was glad because now that means that we can start trying again :) The timing is not great however. DH is going hunting right during the "critical" time. I am trying to convince him to come home for a night or meet me somewhere for a night (he will only be 3 hours away) but he does not see the necessity. I just had to lose another month. I would love to be pregnant again before we reach the point that we will have been trying for a year (late June). Oh well hopefully I can convince DH he just does not understand how hard this has been for me and how much I want another little one :)
I hope everyone had a great Easter

I'm not going to update my stats quite yet. I'd like to go to the dr's office and get some confirmation on this first. Cautiously optimistic here, but just thought you ladies could understand my feelings right now. :)

Franni--I am keeping your thoughts in mind and holding out hope. I still have not started. I have now taken 4 tests(I don't have anymore laying around so maybe I can hold out a little while now!:p ). All BFN's. Did you end up O'ing late than thought when that happened or did it just now show on a pg test?
Hope everyone is doing good:) .

aliannie I O'ed a lot later than usual. I probably O'ed around day 30. When I got that first BFN, I refused to test until I was already about 6 weeks pg. Good luck.

Thanks everybody! I'm trying to stay hopeful, but this morning at work the terror has set in. Am I going to lose this pregnancy too? Was that twinge the start of a miscarriage?
I called and set up my first appointment with my doctor - the first time I could get in will be after the point at which I had my m/c last time. I haven't joined the due date thread at this point, because I don't want to have to unsubscribe to it should something happen. I was trying to stay calm, but this morning I've been a wreak.

Just got off the phone with the doctor's office again...they are prescribing progesterone for me to pick up from the pharmacy tonight and continue through 10 weeks. (Vaginal suppositories! Woo Hoo!) I'll also go in for an ultrasound and bloodwork prior to my appointment on the 16th. They're being proactive - which is good - I'm just hoping this works!

katmg I am right there with you. I have a bloodwork appointment tomorrow and a follow-up a week later. They have not said anything about an u/s but I am going to try and talk them into it soon. At 6 weeks 5 days I am still holding my breath and half expecting it to end any day now. I went ahead and joined the December pg thread and it breaks my heart that every once in a while someone writes that they are leaving us. Hang in there!

Thank you, thank you! You wonderful ladies know exactly what I'm going through.
Pacific - I may end up joining the Dec. thread - it just depends on what date my doctor tells me next week after the bloodwork and u/s. I'm waiting on joining any threads until after that point. I don't want to have to unsubscribe again.
Well, the pharmacy didn't have my prescription so I'll get that tomorrow. Sigh. But I was feeling rather nauseated on the way home from work (and I didn't have any of that last time) so that's a good thing! :p Like Polkadot said, I never thought I'd be so happy to feel nauseated and get vaginal suppositories.

Hi ladies,
Life is busy at our house. We are still waiting for this first month to end. As it turns out I did o while DH was away hunting but there is still a chance if his swimmers lived for three days :). It is so awful since this will be my third pregnancy I feel as though I know exactly how I feel when I am pregnant. I keep testing to see if my boobs are sore and eating foods that normally make my stomach upset if I were pregnant. So far no symptoms but I am only CD18 and I O'ed on CD 15 so really it is way to early to have symptoms. Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well. Hoping for more BFP's soon

I am terrified to get PG thinking that this will happen again. Yet I'm so excited that I just want it to happen now. Such mixed feelings, its crazy.
DH and I have decided we will be trying again this month. I mean, really, we probably won't get pg on the first try but it will be nice to just be active again...help with that scared feeling, I'm sure.

Welcome to our thread - sorry you have to join, but glad you found a place where people can understand what you're feeling. I could have written what you said in the quote about 2 months ago - no way will we get pregnant right away - well, luckily we did!
If I've learned anything on this journey - it is to be prepared for things to not go as expected.

Just a little update....
Well, i called about my cycle days 3 &21 bloodwork....the cycle day 3 bloodwork was normal..which i expected...the 21 day bloodwork was sent for the wrong test. The nurse apologized said it was her fault and that she was sending it to be retested with the correct orders and that she would call me tomorrow with the results. I am kinda prepared for her to come back and say that my proges. was low and that i may not have Oed. I only say this b/c I know that i didnt O until day 18 which meant that at day 21 i was only 3DPO instead of 7 like it should be. I am ok with this b/c i told him that i usually Oed later and he said that if my Progest. was low and I was Oing later then I had two things workign against us...so i will probably be spending my summer on Clomid and progest. suppositories...but i guess it culd be worse....i'll let yall know when she calls me tomorrow...

Polkadot, I'm sorry they messed up the test. That is so frustrating. Thank you for filling us in on your status. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you. I go to the Dr. today to look at my charts to see if she thinks I have a short luteal phase. I'm guessing I have low progesterone. We'll see what happens.

I just have a second before my DS needs lunch but, how early can I test? I am CD26 and have some pregnancy symptoms. I actually feel very similar to last time I was pregnant. I am scared that I am pregnant and will then lose the baby again but at the same time I am so ready to be pregnant again. Is it still to early to test?

Happy - the most sensitive tests might show a positive as early as 10 DPO.
Update: I went to the Dr. yesterday and she said that she really didn't think I had a luteal phase problem, especially since I don't have any spotting before AF shows up. However, she did say she'll have me go to the lab a week after I ovulate to check my progesterone level just to make me feel better since she's pretty confident that there's nothing wrong with me. She said we are doing all the right things and she wants us to try two more cyles (total of 5 since the miscarriage) before she runs any more tests. Oh, and she wants to check my thyroid just in case. So, basically no news is good news I guess and of couse she said to just relax while we're trying to get PG. Ha, that's so funny - relax.
brenda
05-10-2006, 12:42 PM
lilhimley - you'd think a doctor would know better than to give the "just relax" advice. Clearly if you're concerned about fertility, you aren't relaxed!

So..the nurse called...she said that my bloodwork showed I did not O. Which is not what my chart showed...as you can tell .....the only thing that worries me is that I know that I was only 3DPO on the day of the draw instead of 7DPO..but even still shouldnt it have showed I Oed at all...and just have had lower levels of the hormones....i am so frickin confused...i cant believe that 11 months of charts could be wrong....well this birthday has sucked...
lilhimley
05-11-2006, 11:35 AM
Polkadot, did you ask the Dr. why the test isn't matching up with the charts and why do the charts show ovulation? I'm sorry the news wasn't good and especially that it didn't make sense. If you still have questions, you should be comfortable asking them. Happy Birthday, for what it's worth. :o

Well...it wasnt the doc who called it was his nurse...he is out of town until Monday and she knew I didnt want to wait till Monday for the results...so she gave them to me...I got the next availbale appointment which is MAy 24th....which, if i am not PG this cycle...will put me somewhere btwn 8-10 days of my next cycle...which will be just late enough for me to not be able to take the Clomid I think he may want to give me...thinks are really up in the air right now...i KNOW i am Oing its just later than what he thinks is **normal** and i have heard many women who had late O'es say that their docs put them on Clomid b/c it will make the eggs stronger and give the sperm more targets...I am all for that...i wish my appointment was sooner though so i could start the next cycle...oh well...cant change everything....
on another note...The FPS are EVERYWHERE...i had sore bb's this morning...sorta sore throat, dull backpain. and I have been peeing all day long....so for a girl who didnt O I sure feel like I could be PG;) ...who knows...jsut waiting till next week to find out...

Well what I though were pre pregnancy symptoms were the beginning of a horrible flu bug (that eveyone in my family has now had) as well as the beginning of AF. So no BFP for me this month. So here it is ladies.....
I went to the doctor..they did a urine test : BFN, so that settles that...he is convinced that I did not O this cycle no matter what the monitor or the chart says....when they tested my progest at cycle day 21 it was 4. which is like nill he says. So if i oed either on 18 or 20...still way too low...i am wondering how my temps go up all the time and etc...but i am going with him and agreeing that i didnt O. He asked me what my next course of action was...because i needed to make the decision. I decided to go with the Clomid (duh) so....i have my perscription for Clomid for days 3-7 and for Estrace for days 8-12, then on day 21 (here we go again) i will go for a blood draw to see if I Oed on the Clomid and to test my progest. If i have O'ed I get progest.! Yay! :D
SO thats the plan...i am very happy with it. The only thing I forgot to ask him was if i could take the generic for both the clomid and estrace...anyone had experience with those?
Now..all i have to do is wait for AF to arrive in full force....***tapping foot** never thought i would be so happy to see her ;)
Ohhh another question...do you think i should still temp...i wouldnt want to think that I am Oing when I am really not...by going with my temps...i am trying to decide if i should just use the monitor or do both. opinions please!!!
wow that was long...thanks again to all of you are sticking it out with me...couldnt do it with out ya'll!!;)

Hi ladies,
I have been hanging out in the December 2006 Mommies thread and we have had a terrible couple of days. Everyone seemed to be doing fine and then we had a couple women go in for ultrasounds who were told the baby died anywhere from 1-3 weeks ago. I feel awful for them. It actually sickens me that they are having to go through this. It has also left me completely panicked. I have an appointment on the 7th and I think I will sit in the Drs office and cry until I get an u/s. They keep telling me they don't do them until 20 weeks except for my doctor who may or may not do one at my first visit. For those of you pg how do you/did you deal with these feelings. I am sorry for posting this here. I know some of you are TTC and I don't mean to be insensitive. I just didn't know where to go.
I hope you are all doing well.

Pacific - I have nothing that will ease your mind except that you need to stay positive for your baby. Can't always assume the worst, you know? I know its SO hard...waiting and such but maybe if you tell your doctor your concerns that they will perform a US to ease your mind. If anything, the doctor should do that so that you are not so stressed out - must keep the mommy happy!!!
Sending you tons of Happy Vibes in hopes that they will ease your tension!! Take care and just know that you are doing everything you can to continue your healthy pg!!

Pacificbliss - if you tell the doctor about your stress and explain that you aren't sure about the conception date because of wacky periods, he may give you an ultrasound to date the pregnancy. If you're sure about the conception date, you may have less ammo to use. My mw gave me an early ultrasound because I had already had 1 miscarriage.

05-24-2006, 06:45 AM
Pacific - Sorry about the fears about the Dr. appt. I am sureif/when I get pregnant again I will go through the same emotions as you are now. If you Dr. is great they will do the U/s just to ease your mind. Just demand that they do it.
Sorry I have not been around lately. I have kind of been in denial that we actually have to try again. It has been 12 months since we first started trying and it is finally hitting me that we could potentially have a 3 month old baby right now (which would be a handful with a 22 month old) but I still wish that I at least had one on the way. I have kind of been staying away from the boards and just kind of seeing what happens. I don't want to stress about gettting pregnant this time around.
katmg
05-24-2006, 07:33 AM
Pacific - I am in the Dec. thread as well - it has been a rough couple of days. These later 1st trimester m/cs are so upsetting, especially b/c I wanted to relax after I passed the point at which I m/c'd last time (6 1/2 weeks). No such luck. Even having had 2 ultrasounds during this pregnancy thus far has not done me any good as far as relaxing - it's too easy to second guess what is happening right now. I would certainly press the issue with your doctor - there is no reason to be stressed out unnecessarily. I understand that most of the time u/s are not "needed" but they can be awfully reassuring.
pacificbliss
05-24-2006, 11:50 AM
Thank you ladies, you have all been very helpful. I know I just need to relax, LadyD is right. I feel awful for the women who have left the Dec thread and it just got to me yesterday.
happy good luck to you. I hope you don't have to wait too long.

05-24-2006, 11:56 AM
pacific I am almost sure you can convince your DR to give you an u/s (especially if you express that fear to them). I had an u/s on my first visit to the dr because I told them ab the miscarriage and how I wanted to make sure that everything was alright.
That said, I know the fear that you feel. I am now on my 14th week and still cannot totally relax. I am a lot more calm but still not abuzz with all the baby planning that I would have been before the m/c. It seems almost too good to be true, but I just plod along and hope for the best. That is all we can wish for.
Good luck with your DR appt.
bunnybeth
05-24-2006, 02:41 PM
pacific Because I had a missed m/c last time, I was really freaked out about that, and then I even had spotting starting at 5 weeks. Because of the spotting I got an u/s right before 6 weeks but that didn't reassure me when the 12 week mark was approaching. Luckily, my dr said if we couldn't find the heartbeat on doppler, I could have another u/s just to reassure me. Hopefully you can have a u/s as well, but I will warn you that it doesn't take away all the fear. I'm 18 weeks now and still have days when I'm convinced I won't ever have a baby to take home. But, live with as much hope as you can, as often as you can.

A Sept mommy-to-be, who has had a m/c in the past stopping by.
Pacificbliss I can definitely understand where you are coming from and thankfully many Drs are sensitive to the worries of women who have suffered a m/c. I know my Dr told me he would get me in for a u/s asap after I got my BPF and if it would help me he would allow me to have them more frequently to make sure things are okay. When I did get PG again I didn't tell my OB my LMP because according to my charting it was incorrect and I didn't want them to use it until I had an u/s. They often give women an u/s at 7 weeks to help date the PGcy.
I hope your Dr listens to your concerns as they are most certainly valid. if not I may consider changing physisians.

This has been a quiet thread lately. I hope everyone is doing well. I finally got my u/s today and everything looks fine. The baby is kicking and moving and the heart's beating 165 bpm. What a relief! I'm still nervous but feel MUCH better. Thanks again.

Pacific so glad all is well....dontcha feel better?
So,Monday Brian went to the uroligist to get the SA well...its didnt go as well as planned....it looks like we have yet another obstacle in our way on the road to a Polka-Tot.....Brian has varicocele.
Varicocele is a mass of enlarged veins that develops in the spermatic cord, which leads from the testicles (testes ) up through a passageway in the lower abdominal wall (systeminguinal canal) to the circulatory system. The spermatic cord is made up of blood vessels, lymphatic vessels, nerves, and the duct that carries sperm from the body (vas deferens). If the valves that regulate bloodflow from these veins become defective, blood does not circulate out of the testicles efficiently, which causes swelling in the veins above and behind the testicles.
A varicocele can develop
Because of the impaired circulation of blood created by a varicocele, the blood does not cool as it does normally. The increased temperature of the blood raises the temperature of the testes, which is believed to contribute to infertility, as heat can damage or destroy sperm. The increased temperature may also impede production of new, healthy sperm.
So thats the newest thing we have to deal with. The doctor saw it the second he loked at B. He didnt even need to do the exam but did anyway. He wants Brian to do the Sa anyway just to see what his count is now. The doctor said that some men can get their wifes pregnant, and others cant it really depends on the blockage. He assumes that B's count will be low b/c the varicole is grade II or III which is pretty severe. He is going to need surgery to repair this and hoepfully improve his overall fertility. I am not totally upset b/c it has a treatment option and has been showed to improve fertility....so...Brian did the SA on Tueday and we will find out the results at our next appt which is June 28th. We are hoping for good news but probably wont get it....
I went in for cycle day 21 bloodwork today its to test for my proget level which i know will be low because its cycle day 21 and no O yet. It weird since this is my first cycle on Clomid 50mg and i have been waiting to O FOREVER it feels like. I dont want to continue to take the Clomid if our chances arent very good at this time. I know they dont like to use Clomid over a long period of time...so I need to talk to the doctor about the next step. But B and I have already decided that there will be no temping, no monitor, and no OPK's we are just going to have a great summer and wait till this is fixed before getting too stressed out...
So thats my update...Hope everyone is well :D

Pacific - So glad to hear!!! Must be such a relief!! Now you can just focus on yourself and getting this baby to grow! Take care.
Polkadot - Gosh so sorry to hear that. At least the doctor saw B's issue and there is something that can be done. I hope that all goes well for B. Glad to hear you are going to just chill this summer. Will be a nice rest.

Nothing happening with us...AF is 7 days late and there's NO reason for it!!! However, this is the first cycle since the chemical pg last month so I don't know what to do...just anxiously awaiting AF so that we can get moving on our TTCing.
Hope everyone else is doing well.

I'm only on for a minute, but wanted to say that's a great update pacificbliss!
polkadot, I'll be shouting out to you in the charting thread if I ever get to it. I'll do it right after this quick one.
LadyD088, it took me seven weeks after my D&C to get my next AF. I thought she would never come. So frustrating! I hope she shows soon for you.
Got lab results back today...sort of. My nurse practioner that ordered my progesterone test for 7DPO wasn't in today, so the Dr. called me back to give me the level and he said it was 6.3. I asked what that meant and he was literally silent for at least ten seconds. Then I said, "so I guess that's really low then, huh?" and he didn't say. He said it is in the luteal phase range which is normally 4.2 to 25. He said she would call me tomorrow to discuss. So I looked it up and the only thing I could find said that it should be at least 10, so I'm very upset, trying not to cry on my husband (today is our 3rd anniversary). I told him I was having a bad day today and he came to my work, played a song on a boom box and had me dance with him in the hallway. He brought flowers too. He's so good to me. I feel bad for him that he has to deal with me when I get upset over the stress of TTC. Oh, and I have an important conference tomorrow with my boss that I have to get up early for and I'm all puffy from crying and I know I won't sleep well. Ugh, obviously I'm PMSing too. Hopefully I'll get clearer information from the nurse tomorrow than I did from Dr. Silent today. Thanks for listening ladies.

lilhimley sounds like the Dr thought he could just call, give you this number and not answer any questions. Like he was totally unprepared. Maybe the NP will have some good news. In the meantime, try to enjoy your anniversary.
ladyD I hope she shows soon.
polkadot I hope the count comes back good. I did do some searching and it seems like both the surgery and embolization options are pretty effective in that it increases likelihood of getting pg significantly. I'm sure it makes DH nervous but they seemed like quick procedures at least.
Thanks for the kind words ladies. Take care.

LynzeyAHL, I am also 4DPO and it seems like the day to test is so far away. This is the first time my dh and I are TTC since the m/c and I feel like I want this so badly it hurts. I am so nervous about not being pg. this time and the feelings of depression and anxiety returning. I want this more than anything. My temperatures have been lower than normal (after ovulation) though and I am hoping it is because of the progesterone. Anyway, hopefully you and I will both get on here in 10 days and give some great news. I wish us both lots of luck.

iducate, I wanted to get pregnant right away sooo badly after my M/C too. I couldn't wait to TTC! I was so disappointed when we didn't succeed on our 1st, 2nd, or 3rd try. I wish you the best of luck. Read her for what happened on our 4th try:
Update copied from other threads:
06/10 - Hi Ladies. I'm scared. My NP told me that my progesterone was low so next cycle we were going to start me on progesterone after ovulation. She also told me to call her if I got a BFP this cycle so we could start me on it right away. Well, I didn't have any symptoms and my cheap internet tests gave me BFNs so I didn't think I was, but today is 14DPO which is a long luteal phase for me, so I questioned the cheap tests and did an EPT one and it's a BFP! The Dr. is calling in a prescription for suppositories for me, but I'm afraid it's too late. Do you have any information that tells when it's too late to start progesterone? I'm excited about the BFP but scared to death of another miscarriage. If you can, please advise me or direct me to some info. Thank you.
I'm so paranoid that this will not be a viable pregnancy because I'm starting the progesterone 14 DPO instead of 2 DPO, especially since I don't really have any symptoms except tender breasts. I can't get excited about it because I'm so worried. I guess I'll call the NP on Monday to ask what to do next. I'm leaving now for the pharmacy to pick up my progesterone. Please think good thoughts for me and I would totally appreciate an info you can give me. As always, thanks for the great support.
Today(6/12) - Update on me: I spoke with the Nurse Practitioner today and she said not to worry, that I should be fine starting the progesterone when I did. I have an appt with her to do an exam and ultrasound on June 27th - 15 days from now! It seems so far away. I'm trying not to get excited while I wait until my appt. We're supposed to be able to see the heart beating that day. I sooo hope it's there this time. I think I'll feel much better after I hear that everything is fine at that point.

It looks like I will be joining you in the Feb 07 thread. I got a BFP on Friday. I had a blood draw on Monday and will have another one tomorrow. Hi Everyone,
I have checked in on this thread in forever. I am so happy to hear about the recent successes. lilhimley & Happy - congrats. Best of luck to everyone that is testing this weekend. I am hoping for some father's day magic for all of you.
I didn't do any special timing this month - not even OPK's - so I doubt we are in the game at all. Oh well, I am just happy that my DH has decided that he is ready. It was really tough waiting for him to come around but I knew that he would and just had to be patient. This is NOT something I wanted to go into unless he was completely on board. Anyway, I am just so happy to be heading in that direction and hope that we have successful, healthy results soon!! Period due on the 22nd...so we will see after that!
Best of luck to everyone who is testing this weekend!!

I hate the waiting. AGH. It is enough to drive a person crazy. As if I wasn't crazy enough to begin with. :) I am 8 DPO and I have to wait until next Wednesday the 21st to test. I am trying so hard not to get my hopes up, but I can't help but to wish for it to be a BFP. I want nothing more in life right now than to be pg. I wish that I felt differently, but I don't. I wish I were just happy being in a wonderful marriage (which I am) and having my health (which I kind of do). I am just still having such a hard time with the fact that I would have been 15w by now and I am nothing at the moment. :( Anyway, I was on clomid this month and I started with the progesterone 48 hours after O, so I am praying that everything worked. I don't want to go through one more month of this...TRULY. However, I am not feeling the sore bbs yet, which I noticed the month I was pg. exactly one week after O. :( I am trying to relax and assume that it just hasn't started yet. Nothing I can do right now but wait until next week. I pray for a BFP more than anything. I hope that we all get BFP as soon as possible. I hope everyone has a wonderful day. I am going to work for the final 4 days of teaching. :) YAY...can't wait until summer vacation. Much needed after this year. Have a wonderful day...each of you.

ieducate. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that this cycle works out. I am sure it will be great for you to finish this school year and take a break.
As for me I am feeling all sorts of FPS. I have myself feeling naseous, sore stomach, and a metal taste in my mouth. Maybe if I stopped reading all of the threads on pregnancy signs I wouldn't be feeling all of this stuff. Especially since it is way too early to have any symptoms. Anyway, just wanted to write them down so I can stop going over them in my head.
Back to preparing a presentation that is way over due!!

Lawphil, I know all to well how easy it is to feel symptoms that may not actually be there. I am trying so very hard not to "feel" things that aren't there...like sore bbs, etc.
I want nothing more than to be pregnant, but I really don't want to be disappointed. I want to just see the BFP on Tuesday or Wednesday and be done with it. I want to be able to look forward to a wonderful pregnancy and hopefully a great nine months,,,instead of thinking about how tiring it is to chart and wait, and wait, and wait... I am SICK of waiting. I want it to be now. I can't help the feelings...it is almost overwhelming to me. :( Anyway, 3 days left of school and 5 or 6 days until I can test. It seems like a lifetime from now. I will keep you all posted and cross my fingers that we are all done TTC very soon, and rather planning the next nine wonderful months of morning sickness and sore bbs. :) ((HUGS)) to you all and thank you for your constant support system. This has been truly helpful to me to have someone (lots of someones) to talk to. :)

SO I took a test 11DPO and today 12 DPO both positive, but I also started cramping bleeding today which was the day I was supposed to start my period normally (30 day cycle) of course not until after I showed dh the test and gave him the book I bought and was all excited.
I think my body hates me. I have my typical progesterone dropped period headache so I'm thinking this one is a failed conception (aka chemical pregnancy)
my stats are lookin pretty shitty right now 5 cycles TTC 2 BFP and 2 losses I'm ready to catch my break! :(

I posted this to the m/c site too, but I am feeling so absolutely miserable right now that I figured I could use all the advice I could get. I apologize if you are reading this posting twice. :(
I am an absolute mess and my marriage is taking the toll. AGH...I am irritable all the time and I am focused on nothing other than getting pg. I am miserable. I am two days away from when I should get AF and I did an HPT this morning and it was negative. I used one that detects it early. I am sick of waiting. I need that BFP more than anything right now. The hardest thing has actually been my emotions. I have been on progesterone since 48 hours after O and I swear it is making me an emotional wreck. I feel on edge all the time. Has anyone else felt that way when on progesterone? Sources say that progesterone can also affect your temperatures and so I have no idea why my ob didn't tell me to take the month off from charting temps if that is true. If my temperature won't end up dropping on the day my AF is due, then I won't really be able to tell anything from the chart. I am going to test tomorrow and Wednesday (because I am very inpatient) and then if my AF doesn't come by Thursday I will call my dr. I have read that the AF doesn't come if you are on progesterone...which means I will of course think I am pg. for sure when in reality I am not. :( What a mess this whole process is. I am still having a very difficult time with the m/c and I thought that getting pg. this month would help ease that. I am feeling a time crunch for some reason and I just want to be pg. RIGHT NOW. My dh and I are fighting all the time and I know it is me, not him. I know that he has not been any different, but he seems more annoying than usual. :) I love my dh so very much, but this has been the hardest year of my life it seems. I just want to be pg. and happy. I want for both of us to be building a future for our family and for me to stop harping on the past. I need to get over this and for some reason I can't. I think of nothing but getting pg. all the time. :( Anyway, three more days of work before summer break and I couldn't need more. I had a great class of kids this year, but being around kids has only made it more difficult. I just need a break from responsibility for a while. I will sign off now, as I am feeling overwhelmed as usual and don't want to break down again. I hope everyone is well and hope and pray that we all have the BFP when we are ready for it. For me, I hope and pray that it comes for me tomorrow or Wednesday and that this pain will slowly disappear...I am not sure I can take it anymore.

ieducate- I hope this week is a good one for you. I understand how you can get totally focused and have misdirected frustration on DH. It's like you want to be mad at someone but it's no one's fault.
I have a question for those who had a d&c. Was AF progressively worse after it? The first 2 months were fine, like normal. Month 3 was horrible! Lots of blood clots and blood in general. I almost wonder since that was our first month back TTC and AF was 3 days late if it was a really early miscarriage. I never took a test to see if it was positive or not b/c as crazy as this sounds I wanted to wait till AF was a whole week late b/c she's coming right as I've taken the test before. Any thoughts?
pacificbliss
06-19-2006, 02:42 PM
ieducate I understand how you feel. DH and I had some arguments after the m/c too. To some extent it seemed like he wasn't as excited to get pg as I was and didn't understand what the big hurry was. He did not understand that I cried every time AF came. I think he was really worried about the worst case scenario...if it happened again what would we do? How would we deal? Could I handle it? Where I was more focused on the positive, I wanted a baby and getting pg is how you get there. I was very moody and depressed. At least in my case I think part of it was still mourning the pregnancy I lost and part of it was a desire to be pg again. The cycle I got pg DH and I had worked through some of this and I was feeling much more relaxed. Can you get away for a while after school lets out? Got any vacations planned? I know this is so hard but try to let go of the I must be pg right now thought. Remember even if you are not pg you and DH are building a future for your family and you are not harping on the past you're grieving. It's ok. THIS WILL HAPPEN FOR YOU

Robyn's nest I had a tough AF after the m/c, first cycle wasn't bad but the second was a doozy. I think it's different for everyone. I can tell you I consciously decided not to test until I was late for the fear I would get a + and then AF would come. Still, my guess is that it was just one of those post m/c crazy periods.

So is it normal to be scared to test? Of course I want BFP but I get so scared thinking of peeing on that stupid stick. I think I am going to give AF a long window in which to appear b/c she has fooled me many times before. I'm terrified that I am pregnant b/c then what if what happened before happens again, but then again what if it's negative, I'm very disappointed. Guess you just have to have faith either way huh?

Robyn's Nest I went through the same thing. I was utterly panicked about taking the test and when I did, it was a BFN. I was so sad. Another 2 weeks (that's 5 weeks dpo) went by and AF didn't show up. I would've waited until AF showed up if it were not for the fact that I was worried that there might be something wrong with me. I went to the 99cent store and bought a cheapy test. It was BFP!
The feeling of terror never really leaves. It just lessens over time. For the first few months, I have tried to not become too attached to the baby. I focused on my morning sickness, but couldn't bring myself to get too excited over an ultrasound. During my m/c, a routine ultrasound is what determined that the baby did not have a heartbeat.
I think today must be the first day that I finally allowed myself to be thrilled. Today I found out that I am having another girl. All of a sudden, it became too real to deny.
Here's crossing all my crossables for a big BFP for you.

Thanks for the kind words. AF is supposed to come next Wednesday so I think I'll just wait and see what happens. I know a BFN even if it is b/c it's too early to test would be very depressing right now. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised if AF just doesn't show next week.

Hi all, started spotting this morning. I tested anyway and got a very negative result. I am looked back at my calendar (I usually calendar the days) and realized that I have been having 30 - 31 day cycles since the mc. So af is not actually due until tomorrow or Sunday. So I am holding out a tiny bit of hope...although I don't think we got it this time!
I am disappointed because i have been having lots of fps -- horrible indigestion and very bad insomnia for the last two nights. I have an incredibly weak stomach and have never been a great sleeper...so really those could just be symptoms of my life. So now I actually need to deal with eating healthy and exercising as a way to make myself feel better and not blaming it on fps!
Anyway, I wish af would hurry up and get here. I have to travle out of hte country on Sunday for work and I get the worst - lie in your bed and cry - cramps and I am terrified of being on a plane and/or so far away from home without my heating pad! How am I going to travel and prepare for my presentations??
Robyn's Nest - good luck with testing. I will check in when I get back from my trip. I will hopefully see wonderful news from you!

There was nothing worse than having to tell people "we're pregnant, but it's not viable" We had planned on not saying anything till after the 12 weeks anyway, but I knew when they started saying d&c we had to tell family what was happening. It's hard b/c you want to be happy when it happens, but how long till you feel like it's okay to be?

Me: 29
DH: 29
Married: 4/26/03
Off BCP: July 05
TTC: June 06
M/C: Development stopped at 9w2d, found out at 11w4d, took misoprostol at 12w5d, m/c complete at 13w1d (May 8th)
I'm going crazy here. I'm on CD25 but I have no idea where that is in my cycle. Since I had such regular cycles before with clear signs of ovulation I was just checking cm and cervical position this month but I've had absolutely no signs of ovulation. I finally decided to start temping for the first time on CD21 but I haven't got a good night's sleep and my temps have been all over the place from a low of 97.4 (although I was sleeping with my mouth open) to a high of 98.6. And to make matters more confusing I've been really tired and thirsty this week which were two of my biggest EPS last time. So I don't know what's going on. I'm really frustrated.

My apologies for not being here very often recently, but I needed to take a break for a while. I finished teaching for the school year and thought it would be a great time for a BFP, but alas that was not the case. I got a BFN and it's off to another month of charting and hoping. I am trying to destress over the summer so that it will happen, but I have lots of doubts. I just feel like it may never happen again. The only month I got pg. was the month that I had a procedure where they flush out the falopian tubes. That was the month I got pg. Since then and before then....nothing but BFN. :( I am wanting to have hope, but it is most difficult at times. I decided, per my sister's advice, to celebrate the negatives with something I can't do when pg. That sounded good, but in reality, I would gladly give all of these things up to be pg. instead. Anyway, I am on cd8 so I have a ways to go. I will try and drop in to see how everyone is doing, but for now I am trying not to focus on pregnancy things right now...it is just too depressing. I just pray that I have great news to share later this month. I am crossing my fingers for all of you too. :)

Don't feel bad about that LynzeyAHL, you were just so excited and it should have been a fun happy time. You'll have that chance again!
ieducate - I know it's easier said than done but just enjoy your summer and know that it will happen for you!
As for me, still no AF. Have been having some cramps so we'll see. I refuse to test until CD34 at least. Give the old bat all the time she needs to show :)
Have a great weekend everybody!!

robyn's nest and sand, did you test? If so, I hope you had good news!
So, I'm wondering if I had just bad (and kind of weird) PMS. My boobs were killing me on Friday and that's an occasional PMS symptom for me. I've never been that tired or that thirsty when I wasn't pregnant, though, but maybe my hormones are all out of whack. I'm still not sure where I am in my cycle but all of my temps lately have been over 98.2 or so and even though I don't have a baseline I think that's a little too high for pre-ovulatory temps. So I'm hoping that I ovulated around when I usually do and that AF will be here in a few days. Actually, I hope AF doesn't arrive and I get a BFP but I think that's pretty unlikely.

Well I tested yesterday and....BFP! Trying not to freak out. I am cautiously happy, but I want to get past 12 weeks before I really believe it. Not telling family till then.
This feels very different than last time which I guess is good. I feel really good. Just got back a 2.5 mile walk.
Considering what happened last time with the whole misdiagnosed molar pregnancy, I think I'll feel better after the first HcG levels are taken.
Hope everyone else gets good news soon!

I still am in disbelief. I called and got an appointment with my doctor, but it's not till I'm 10 weeks. I'll hang out and try not to obsess till then. I am having a some heavy cramps that come and go...guess that's normal huh?
Hope everyone is doing well!

Cramps are normal as is a bit of brown spotting. Both are likely to be implantation stuff.

Hi, everyone.
So, on Tuesday I wake up and my temp is still high so I decide to test just to make sure I'm not pregnant so I can have some beer. I take the test, still half-asleep, wait a couple minutes and when I don't see anything I throw the test away and go back to bed. Even though I expected it to be a BFN I'm still really sad and I spend the rest of the morning doing a little bit of crying and talking to DH about our future.
A few hours later, I walk into the bathroom and pick up the test (it's laying on top of the trash). OMG, there are two lines. The second line is really faint, though. Now I know you're not supposed to interpret a test after 10 minutes or so, so I don't know if I'm seeing an evaporation line or a real line. I dig the BFN tests I had taken last week out of the trash  (luckily the trash wasn't that dirty) and see that both of them just had one line. So I don't know what to think. It's an AccuClear test so I start analyzing the pictures on peeonastick.com to see if it looks like a real line or an evap. line. Looking at the pictures and reading the site make things as clear as mud and I really want that beer so I decide to take the last test I had.
I wait a few minutes and don't see anything but instead of throwing it away, I place the new test next to all of the old tests on the counter. DH walks in the bathroom a few minutes later and says "what are you talking about, I see two with two lines and two with one line." Huh? I look at the test I just took and if you notice that if you hold it at the right angle and in the right light you can see two lines. Now I really don't know what to think. Did I get a bad batch, am I really pregnant, or what?
Now we have to leave to go to a party. On the way, we stop and I buy two boxes of different HPTs (FirstResponse and EPT). At the party, I just drink my bottle of water, trying to figure out how much water I can drink and have enough to go but not so much that it dilutes my pee. Finally after holding it for hours, I'm about to burst so I go the bathroom and take both tests. After about a minute I see the faintest line on the FirstResponse then I see an even fainter plus sign on the EPT. But a line's a line and the chances of having 4 false positives are really slim, right?
I held off on testing again until today. The line's still pretty light but it's definitely darker than the other ones. So, I'm definitely pregnant again. At least for today. Who knows how long it will last- hopefully for 36 more weeks. I'm really happy but of course really scared. DH says for us to take it one day at a time and I'm going to try my best to do that.
I wish you ladies the best of luck and I hope to hear some more good news soon!

Congrats to you littlemia! I hope that we both have uneventful weeks ahead :)
More nervous than excited at this point. Last time I started bleeding at 6 weeks so at least until past there I won't feel comfortable. Then I'm all nervous about my HcG numbers since they were high last time for no reason. I was at 124,000 at 6 weeks. Unless it's twins, I don't them that high! If it is twins we're closing up shop after this ;)

Thanks, ladies! I could really use all the sticky vibes you can give as I started spotting this morning. I was thinking it might just be implantation spotting, but then I read that it's not implantation spotting if it's after a BFP. It's just light and brown and I know that's supposedly nothing to worry about but that's what happened last time. Of course the situation was somewhat different as I was 11 weeks and it was a missed miscarriage but I have a hard time believing brown spotting is okay. There's nothing I can really do except wait and see and that sucks.

Littlemia, I´m crossing my fingers for you that it´s nothing to worry about. If that helps: I even had AF in the first month I was pg with DD. It was shorter than usual but definitely AF. I only found out that I was pg at all one week after AF. After that I´ve read that some bodies just need more time to adjust and that it´s not uncommon to have AF or some spotting at the time of AF. After that I had a totally uneventful pregancy. I really hope it´s the same for you! :)

Well went home from work at lunch and had red blood coming out. Freaked and called the doctor. He was able to take me 30 minutes later so I went in and had an ultrasound. Long story short, the doctor walks in after the ultarsound and says "congratulations" and gave me a hug (he's so nice!) I told him " I guess huh?" He said that there is some blood in there but that it was a small amount and appears to be something called Chadwick's sign which I didn't understand his explanation of. He said that the baby is measuring right and that it's heartrate is good. So I guess I'm reassured somewhat. I was told "you're just a bleeder" SWELL! ;)
So I have another ultrasound next Monday to see if there is more blood and confirm the baby is measuring right for 6 weeks.
Considering I thought it for sure was a miscarriage I think I'm somewhat relieved.

I got a new dr and the first thing he's having me do is a draw to check my hormone levels. Which is nice I like that he's being super proactive. I Oed today on CD 23 (chemical pgcy last month threw things off a bit) and he's going to have me go in for the dye test on my uterus to make sure everything is clear(no scarring) after having the iud removed after I start my period unless we get pg again this cycle. He's pretty confident he can find a way to keep me pregnant since we have gotten pregnant twice. so...... here's to hoping :o

Congrats to all of the BFP's - Robyn's Nest and Littlemia. That is wonderful news - I wish both of you happy and health 9 months!
I can't scroll back to see who recommended the portable heating pads - but whoever it was - THANK YOU! They were truly a lifesaver. I stuck them to my belly and my back and although it was a little warm they made all the difference in the world! That in many, many aleve
So I had the craziest cycle...5 days of spotting and then fully on AF for 2 days. I had my yearly check up with a new doctor and told her about the short and long cycles and spotting and she suggested (1) an US to see if I have any cysts (did that on day 8 and all was clear) and (2) a blood draw on day 25 to check my progesterone. I really like that she is being proactive but not alarmist. It is a nice combo for me.
Anwyay, today is CD 13 and I got a postive OPK last night...but now that I am reading peeonastick.com I question whether it was really positive because only the line up the side of the testing side was dark and not more than 50% of the entire line was dark. I am currently trying to hold my pee until I go home so that I can test again...hopefully with more conclusive results. If last night was positive we got one BD in on time but really not more because we were with my fam over the weekend and I don't normally ovulate until day 18/19. Ugghh...
Sorry for my usual ramble!

littlemia- Glad to hear the spotting stopped. I was wondering what was happening with you. Such a sinking feeling to see it! I am 6 weeks and 1 day today.
I haven't had any blood for a full day now. I hope that's good. Last time it started and stopped and the I had a big blood clot. I keep telling myself that this is a very different situation since last time there was a weak heartbeat and screwy looking things on the u/s.
I'll feel better after the u/s on Monday. The fact that my doctor wasn't very concerned and he's always been up front reassure me too. He kiddingly told me when we were looking at the u/s "it's a boy!" I said "well as many problems as it's causing me I bet you're right!" :)

So I went for my other u/s today b/c of the bleeding last week. She spent a really long time moving the thing from what felt like one end to the other. We got to hear the heartbeat but she kept going "huh" while doing it and asked what the doctor told me last week which made me nervous. After that we sat in an exam room for 30 minutes.
Finally the doctor comes in and tells us that the baby looks good but they found something interesting on the u/s. Apparently they think I have something called a "bicornuate uterus" this means when I was just a fetus my uterus didn't go into a triangle shape but into a heart instead. This means I have a higher likelihood of miscarriage and when a baby goes to term I will probably have to have a c-section b/c it will be breech b/c of the lack of space to turn around in there. He said I am past a criticial stage b/c the baby has implanted but I have to lay around and do nothing till the first trimester is over. No walking, no yoga, no nothing. Well if you insist ;)
So has anyone heard of this? I am very happy that all looks well with the baby but concerned about the greater likelihood of miscarriage. I just knew it was going to be really bad news today so I guess a heart shaped uterus and the likelihood of a c-section isn't that bad :)
katmg
07-17-2006, 01:31 PM
Robyn's Nest - I've heard of lots of people on these boards with bicornuate uterus. You might search on the pregnancy board to see if there are any threads about it. I know some of them had difficulty getting pregnant, but I don't remember further problems.

littlemia I have never heard of the bicornuate uterus, but the fact that your doc is so positive about this is a great sign. I find that doctors tend to be very conservative and tend to prep for the worst case scenario.
Congratulations.
